- 0:00Speaker 1: What part will Donald Trump play in this midterm election?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Well, that's the key to the whole entire thing, Sean.
- 0:06Speaker 2: So historically the challenge with midterm elections has been the
- 0:10Speaker 2: president is not on the ballot. And we all know
- 0:12Speaker 2: that Donald Trump is the Republican Party.
- 0:15Speaker 1: So our job.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Between now and election day is to make sure that
- 0:18Speaker 2: Republicans are motivated, determined, and committed to coming out and
- 0:23Speaker 2: supporting their president. And at the same time, the American people,
- 0:27Speaker 2: including independents, including normal Democrats, including Reagan Democrats, understand Well,
- 0:33Speaker 2: you and I discussed tonight, which is how dangerous, extreme,
- 0:36Speaker 2: and yes, violent, the Democrat Party has become.

- 2:58Speaker 1: it's the forty seven Morning Day and it starts right now.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Fed up. That is how it's being described as the
- 3:06Speaker 1: President of the United States of America, Donald Trump is
- 3:09Speaker 1: threatening to blow the sh you know what out of Iran,
- 3:13Speaker 1: prompting Tehran to storm out of the US peace talks.
- 3:18Speaker 1: The Iranian negotiators stormed out of the high level peace
- 3:21Speaker 1: talks of the US in Switzerland on Sunday after a
- 3:25Speaker 1: frustrated President Trump unleashed his well fury on the regime,
- 3:29Speaker 1: threatening to seize the straight UFOM moves and blow the
- 3:32Speaker 1: blank out of them. The talks were abandoned about at
- 3:36Speaker 1: eighty minutes after they started, when the discussions entered quote
- 3:41Speaker 1: unquote a difficult phase following an insulting message by the
- 3:45Speaker 1: President of the United States of America. That is what
- 3:48Speaker 1: the Iranian state news agency is reporting at this moment.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Vice President jd Vance, who was spearheading the negotiations, had
- 3:58Speaker 1: earlier said that the US to turn over a new
- 4:01Speaker 1: leaf with the Islamic Republic. The talks in Katari owned
- 4:07Speaker 1: mountaintop resort in Switzerland were the first to be held
- 4:10Speaker 1: under the terms of the Memo of Understanding that was
- 4:13Speaker 1: agreed a week ago. But hopes of progress, well, that
- 4:18Speaker 1: was swiftly dashed, as it's being reported by Iranian state media,
- 4:22Speaker 1: and the diplomatic efforts were cut off when Trump, who
- 4:25Speaker 1: had been criticized for being too soft on the regime
- 4:28Speaker 1: with the MoU, warned that the US would hammer rant
- 4:32Speaker 1: if it didn't open the straight UPFOM moves and rein
- 4:35Speaker 1: in its terrorist proxies. Now again, all this is breaking
- 4:40Speaker 1: as I'm recording this. The present's most explicit warning was
- 4:45Speaker 1: aimed directly at Tehran's diplomats in Switzerland. Quote, you won't
- 4:50Speaker 1: even make it back to your blanking country, is what
- 4:54Speaker 1: an rate. Trump told Iranian leaders that, according to Fox
- 4:57Speaker 1: News correspondent who was there, you close it, referring to
- 5:01Speaker 1: the Strait of Hormuz, and you won't have a country.
- 5:05Speaker 1: We may take over the strait if we have to.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'll blow the blank out of them yet again, referring
- 5:13Speaker 1: to Iran. Now, Iran's Revolutionary Guard had claimed Saturday that
- 5:18Speaker 1: it was shutting down the critical waterway due to the
- 5:21Speaker 1: continued fighting in Lebanon. Iran also came into the peace
- 5:26Speaker 1: talks on Sunday, wanting to prioritize discussions about Lebanon, where
- 5:31Speaker 1: Israel's military has been fighting the Iranian backed Hesblah militant
- 5:37Speaker 1: terrorist group. Now, the talks were supposed to address Tehran's
- 5:41Speaker 1: nuclear program and the reopening of the strait. However, Iran
- 5:47Speaker 1: said there could be no start to the next phase
- 5:50Speaker 1: of negotiations until the fighting ends. That is what the
- 5:54Speaker 1: States News Agency reported. Trump also took the true so
- 6:00Speaker 1: to let out his anger, blaming Iran for the fighting
- 6:04Speaker 1: and demanding that the regime keep has Blah in line
- 6:08Speaker 1: sang quote. Aram US immediately stopped their highly paid proxies
- 6:12Speaker 1: in Lebanon from causing trouble. If they don't, we'll hit
- 6:16Speaker 1: Iran very hard again, just like we did last week,
- 6:21Speaker 1: only harder with three exclamation points. Now. The Islamic Republic's
- 6:27Speaker 1: chief negotiator and head of Iran's parliament slammed Trump's threats
- 6:32Speaker 1: as an active desperation. Sang quote. We don't take the
- 6:37Speaker 1: American's threats seriously. He went on to warn the present
- 6:42Speaker 1: that any force would be met in kind quote unquote.
- 6:47Speaker 1: They had better watch their statements, he hit back. Our
- 6:51Speaker 1: armed forces are ready to respond in another way whatever
- 6:56Speaker 1: they say. We are the ones who will act quote unquote. Now,
- 7:01Speaker 1: it's obvious things are changing extremely quickly as we speak.
- 7:05Speaker 1: We also know that Iran and other of their top
- 7:08Speaker 1: negotiators also refused to participate. We're now being told in
- 7:13Speaker 1: a scheduled handshake and a joint photo session event with
- 7:18Speaker 1: the US team that according to Iran's news agency, the
- 7:22Speaker 1: officials described the photo op as an American media show
- 7:25Speaker 1: quote unquote, with the optics, raising worries that the US
- 7:29Speaker 1: fumbled the start of the negotiations. This is again breaking
- 7:34Speaker 1: as we speak. US officials, ever, claimed there was no
- 7:37Speaker 1: snob and that Iran was merely spreading opportunistic propaganda to
- 7:43Speaker 1: the world. The US delegation in Switzerland was being led
- 7:48Speaker 1: by JD. Vance, along with a special envoy, Steve Wiskoff
- 7:51Speaker 1: and Trump's son in law Jared Kushner. A senior US
- 7:56Speaker 1: diplomat engaged in the negotiations, later downplayed the diplomatic row,
- 8:00Speaker 1: insisting that the peace talks remain ongoing, saying the Iranian
- 8:04Speaker 1: delegation is still at the negotiating venue and the US
- 8:08Speaker 1: delegation expects to continue working through the night, adding that
- 8:12Speaker 1: the discussions have included clarifying some of the confusing messaging
- 8:16Speaker 1: from Iran on the Strait and building deconflicting mechanisms to
- 8:21Speaker 1: ensure the strait will remain fully open. Quote. We have
- 8:26Speaker 1: also worked through de conflictation mechanisms and enforcing the ceasefire
- 8:31Speaker 1: in southern Lebanon. The diplomat confirmed the talk Sunday would
- 8:36Speaker 1: be used as a starting point for ongoing technical talks
- 8:40Speaker 1: going forward. The officials added, what's clear is right now
- 8:45Speaker 1: things are extremely fluid, and by the time you hear
- 8:48Speaker 1: this well, it may have changed because of how quick
- 8:51Speaker 1: the news is changing right now.
- 8:53Speaker 3: In Switzerland now story number two.
- 8:56Speaker 1: A majority of Americans want the United States of America
- 8:59Speaker 1: to in the war with Iran. Now that according to
- 9:03Speaker 1: a new CBS you gov poll that has just come out.
- 9:07Speaker 1: The survey, which was taken Wednesday through Friday, ask participants,
- 9:11Speaker 1: quote the conflict with Iran, what should the US do now?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Seventy eight percent, I'm gonna say that number again, Seventy
- 9:21Speaker 1: eight percent said the nation should end the conflict now.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Twenty two percent said that to continue the conflict until
- 9:28Speaker 1: Iran gives up more. Now, these are very, very very
- 9:32Speaker 1: big numbers, to say the least. The poll also surveyed Republicans,
- 9:37Speaker 1: asking them what should the US do now? Here's a
- 9:41Speaker 1: very interesting part of that poll as well. Sixty percent
- 9:45Speaker 1: of all Republicans said the nation should end the conflict now,
- 9:49Speaker 1: and fifty six percent of MAGA Republicans also agreed. Mean
- 9:53Speaker 1: the majority of people that voted for Donald Trump. Forty
- 9:57Speaker 1: percent of Republicans said the nation should continue the conflict
- 10:00Speaker 1: until Iran gives up more, and forty four percent of
- 10:04Speaker 1: MAGA Republicans agreed as well. When broken out now, the
- 10:08Speaker 1: CBS News you gov survey. It was conducted with a
- 10:11Speaker 1: nationally represented sample of two thousand, five hundred and nineteen
- 10:16Speaker 1: US adults interview between June the seventeenth and nineteenth, and
- 10:20Speaker 1: the sample was weighted to be representative of adults nationwide
- 10:24Speaker 1: according to gender, age, race, education, and it was based
- 10:28Speaker 1: on the US Census, American Community Survey, and Current Population Survey.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Meaning this is a poll that is very interesting and
- 10:36Speaker 1: worth looking at now. The news of the poll also
- 10:39Speaker 1: came after President Donald Trump signed his copy of the
- 10:42Speaker 1: Memorandum of Understanding or the MoU to end the hostilities
- 10:47Speaker 1: with Iran following the G seven on Wednesday, with the
- 10:51Speaker 1: Iranian present signing his copy remotely. That is the latest
- 10:55Speaker 1: news that's been reported on that now. The outlet set
- 10:58Speaker 1: a national survey found the signed preliminary agreement had a
- 11:03Speaker 1: strong majority approval rating among American voters as well. President
- 11:08Speaker 1: Trump confirmed that he had signed the MoU and some
- 11:10Speaker 1: details would quote be ironed out in the next sixty days.
- 11:15Speaker 1: The deal is all signed and the straight uform move
- 11:17Speaker 1: is already partially open. As you know, they're doing a
- 11:20Speaker 1: little hunting for a couple of minds that they've already found.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But it's essentially ships are starting to go out now.
- 11:27Speaker 1: On Friday, it will be completely open, the President promise,
- 11:31Speaker 1: saying this. We got along very well with Iran. It's
- 11:34Speaker 1: a different set of leaders, as you know. The first
- 11:36Speaker 1: set is gone, the second set is gone, and we
- 11:39Speaker 1: found the third set to be very smart, strong, very smart.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But we ended up making a deal. I felt badly
- 11:46Speaker 1: that we had to go back on the attack for
- 11:48Speaker 1: two nights, and I thought a third, but we made
- 11:51Speaker 1: it before that happened. But I think a lot of
- 11:54Speaker 1: great things are going to happen with the Middle East
- 11:56Speaker 1: right now. And very importantly, the oil is plummeting down
- 12:00Speaker 1: and the stock market is shooting up like a rocket today,
- 12:03Speaker 1: like record kind of numbers, the President added. Now Vice
- 12:07Speaker 1: President JD. Vance a ride in Switzerland early on Sunday
- 12:11Speaker 1: for the first direct US Iranian talk census signing of
- 12:14Speaker 1: the memory of understanding. The negotiations will play out against
- 12:18Speaker 1: a backdrop of obviously the rising tensions, specifically over the
- 12:22Speaker 1: Strait of Hormuz, and then the renewed fighting between the
- 12:25Speaker 1: iranback hesbla terrorist group and Israel, threatened to upend the
- 12:30Speaker 1: fragile diplomatic process as well. Obviously there's a lot happening
- 12:34Speaker 1: as we speak.
