I'm thinking today of Psalm 51.1. It says,

Be gracious to me, O God, according to your loving kindness.

According to the greatness of your compassion, blot out my transgressions.

Psalm 51.1. If these things that David was writing about here were not already

God's character traits, what reasons would God have for

forgiving our sins? He's not required to do so. He's not

tricked or trapped to do so. He's free, holy,

and righteous. He would be just in giving us

exactly what we deserve. However, His mercy is unending. Justice is

served because He paid when we couldn't.

Jesus took the penalty for sins upon Himself.

Praise God, that's done. We must realize we have sinned against God.
