Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: In his verdict with Ted Crue's weekend Review, Ben Ferguson
- 0:05Speaker 2: with you, and here are three of the major stories
- 0:06Speaker 2: that you may have missed that we talked about this week.
- 0:09Speaker 2: First up Center Cruz calling out China on creating a
- 0:13Speaker 2: new country in Africa. Why is the media not talking
- 0:17Speaker 2: about it? Well, we have the details that you need
- 0:19Speaker 2: to know. Also, DC crime is down as Donald Trump
- 0:24Speaker 2: commits to making sure that people that live in the
- 0:26Speaker 2: District Columbia are actually safe, and the data is truly
- 0:30Speaker 2: staggering just how quick the president was able to restore
- 0:33Speaker 2: a law and order to a city that been broken
- 0:35Speaker 2: for decades. And finally, the auto pen Joe Biden was
- 0:40Speaker 2: actually warned by his own Department of Justice that what
- 0:44Speaker 2: they were doing was problematic, yet he did it anyway.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Why did he not pay attention to the warnings? And
- 0:51Speaker 2: maybe it was because he wasn't actually even in charge.
- 0:54Speaker 2: We'll have that for you. It's the weekend review and
- 0:57Speaker 2: it starts right now. I want to move to this
- 1:00Speaker 2: other story, and it's one realistically that probably ninety nine
- 1:03Speaker 2: percent of this audience doesn't even know about this because
- 1:09Speaker 2: no one's covering it. It doesn't mean that it's not
- 1:11Speaker 2: an extremely important story.
- 1:14Speaker 1: It is you calling out China.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It's an epic fight over creating a new country in Africa.
- 1:21Speaker 2: This reminds me of that story we were talking about
- 1:24Speaker 2: not that long ago, about China creating an island in
- 1:27Speaker 2: the middle of the ocean based of nowhere that we
- 1:29Speaker 2: helped give them air superiority if there was a massive
- 1:33Speaker 2: world event that took place, another World war, it would
- 1:37Speaker 2: give them the ability to reach places they currently cannot reach.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And now we're hearing that they're looking at creating a
- 1:43Speaker 2: new country in Africa. You're trying to bring that to
- 1:46Speaker 2: light and also stop it. Well, that's exactly right.
- 1:50Speaker 3: So I am the chairman of the Africa Subcommittee of
- 1:54Speaker 3: the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and so I've been sharing
- 1:57Speaker 3: a number of hearings, in particular focusing on the growing
- 2:00Speaker 3: influence of communist China in Africa. Africa has become a
- 2:04Speaker 3: major battleground where China is trying to gain influence, trying
- 2:08Speaker 3: to gain power, and do so at the expense of America.
- 2:11Speaker 3: And so what this last week I wrote a letter
- 2:14Speaker 3: to President Trump urging the President to recognize a new
- 2:18Speaker 3: country in Africa. I'm going to read you the letter.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Dear President Trump, I write to urge your administration to
- 2:24Speaker 3: formally recognize the Republic of Somaliland as an independent state
- 2:29Speaker 3: with sovereignty within its nineteen sixty borders. Somaliland first gained
- 2:34Speaker 3: independence and international recognition in nineteen sixty before voluntarily uniting
- 2:40Speaker 3: with Somalia later that year. Since moving to reclaim its
- 2:45Speaker 3: independence in nineteen ninety one, it has functioned as a stable,
- 2:49Speaker 3: self governing democratic nation. It has held several peaceful elections
- 2:55Speaker 3: since two thousand and three, marked by strong voter turnout
- 2:59Speaker 3: and peaceful trendsransitions of power. Somaliland has emerged as a
- 3:04Speaker 3: critical security and diplomatic partner for the United States, helping
- 3:09Speaker 3: America advance our national security interest in the Horn of
- 3:12Speaker 3: Africa and beyond. It is strategically located on the Gulf
- 3:17Speaker 3: of Aiden, putting it near one of the world's busiest
- 3:21Speaker 3: maritime corridors. It possesses capable armed forces and contributes to
- 3:26Speaker 3: regional counter terrorism and piracy operations. It has enabled the
- 3:31Speaker 3: opening of a Taiwanese representative office in the capital of Hargisa,
- 3:38Speaker 3: sought to strengthen ties with Israel and voice support for
- 3:43Speaker 3: the Abraham Accords. It has proposed hosting a US military
- 3:49Speaker 3: presence near the Red Sea along the Gulf of Aden,
- 3:54Speaker 3: and is open to critical minerals agreements that would support
- 3:59Speaker 3: our supply chain resilience. The US Somaliland partnership is robust
- 4:05Speaker 3: and it is deepening. Somaliland faces mounting pressure from adversaries,
- 4:12Speaker 3: doing no small part to its role as a partner
- 4:15Speaker 3: for the United States and our allies. The Chinese Communist
- 4:19Speaker 3: Party is using economic and diplomatic coercion to punish Somaliland
- 4:24Speaker 3: for its support for Taiwan, as well as to undermine
- 4:28Speaker 3: that support. The Government of Somalia has played an unfortunate
- 4:33Speaker 3: role in these efforts. In April twenty twenty five, the
- 4:37Speaker 3: CCP arranged for Somalia to bar Taiwanese passport holders from
- 4:43Speaker 3: transiting into Somaliland, and Chinese support to Somalia is benefiting
- 4:48Speaker 3: anti Somaliland groups working to erode its sovereignty. Despite these threats,
- 4:55Speaker 3: Somaliland remains committed to forging closer ties with the US
- 5:00Speaker 3: and is actively engage in enhancing military cooperation, counter terrorism efforts,
- 5:05Speaker 3: and economy and trade partnerships to do so. To the
- 5:09Speaker 3: greatest effect and the greatest benefit to American national security interest.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It requires the status of a state. I urge you
- 5:18Speaker 3: to grant it that recognition. This is obviously significant. What
- 5:22Speaker 3: are the chances that this could move forward this way?
- 5:25Speaker 4: Look, I'm optimistic.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I think there's a real chance the President will recognize Somaliland.
- 5:30Speaker 4: As I said, they've been an ally to us. They've
- 5:32Speaker 4: been an ally.
- 5:33Speaker 3: This is a Muslim country and in a very dangerous
- 5:36Speaker 3: part of Africa. And they've shown real courage. They've shown
- 5:40Speaker 3: real courage standing with the United States. They've shown real
- 5:42Speaker 3: courage standing up to China. They've shown real courage siding
- 5:47Speaker 3: with Taiwan, which infuriates communist China. They've shown real courage
- 5:53Speaker 3: embracing Israel and the Abraham Accords. I think Somaliland would
- 5:59Speaker 3: eagerly joined the Abraham Accords and and and so it
- 6:03Speaker 3: is in America's national security interest. I believe to recognize Somaliland,
- 6:08Speaker 3: and and and and probably the best confirmation of that
- 6:14Speaker 3: is this week China put out a public release blasting
- 6:20Speaker 3: me absolutely furious uh that that I made this public
- 6:26Speaker 3: call to recognize Somaliland, and and and here's what China
- 6:29Speaker 3: put out as their statement they said, quote a US
- 6:33Speaker 3: senator in a letter boasting of so called US recognition
- 6:38Speaker 3: of Somaliland region launched baseless attacks against China and China
- 6:43Speaker 3: Somalia relations. The Chinese Embassy in Somalia firmly opposes this misconduct.
- 6:50Speaker 3: This coursive letter constitutes serious interference in the internal affairs
- 6:56Speaker 3: of Somalia and further exposes the hegemonic and bully attitude
- 7:01Speaker 3: of certain US politicians to the Somali people. Respect for
- 7:05Speaker 3: sovereignty and territorial integrity and non interference in each other's
- 7:09Speaker 3: internal affairs are enshrined in the UN Charter as basic
- 7:14Speaker 3: norms governing international relations for safeguarding world peace and stability.
- 7:19Speaker 3: China never interferes in other countries' internal affairs and absolutely
- 7:25Speaker 3: does not accept meddling in its own internal affairs by
- 7:28Speaker 3: any countries. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.
- 7:36Speaker 3: This is history and this is reality. China firmly opposes
- 7:42Speaker 3: taiwan independent separatism and external interference, and possesses the legitimate
- 7:47Speaker 3: right to take measures to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
- 7:53Speaker 3: The fact that China is freaking out, the fact that
- 7:56Speaker 3: they are this pissed off from my perspective, confirms that
- 8:01Speaker 3: that I was exactly right, and as yet another argument
- 8:06Speaker 3: why President Trump should should recognize Somali Land as an
- 8:11Speaker 3: ally to America and as a country in Africa willing
- 8:14Speaker 3: to stand up to communist China.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 8:18Speaker 2: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 8:21Speaker 2: from earlier this week. Now onto story number two. You
- 8:25Speaker 2: talk about the president having leverage. Let's move to Washington,
- 8:28Speaker 2: d C. And everyone that said the president was like
- 8:32Speaker 2: being a dictator and a tyrant by sitting in the
- 8:34Speaker 2: National Guard actually trying to fight crime. They said, this
- 8:37Speaker 2: was just him being a bully. He was obsessed with
- 8:41Speaker 2: the media. This is what tyrants and dictators do. He's
- 8:44Speaker 2: gonna roll the National Guard and militarize every city in
- 8:48Speaker 2: America that he doesn't like.
- 8:49Speaker 1: That was the narrative.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Well, guess what they got it wrong again, DC crime
- 8:54Speaker 2: since the announcement of the Federal control versus the seven
- 8:57Speaker 2: day prior to that, you have that data now Center. Please,
- 9:02Speaker 2: for everyone that's listening, go through every category of a shock.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I say that sarcastically more law enforcement on the street,
- 9:10Speaker 2: law and order. What happens less crime.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it turns out when you arrest criminals, you get
- 9:17Speaker 3: less crime.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I know.
- 9:18Speaker 3: That's a shocking outcome. It's one Democrats don't understand and
- 9:22Speaker 3: the media doesn't understand. But everyone whose head is not
- 9:26Speaker 3: fully inserted up their rear end gets that point.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Here is a.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Tweet from the DC Police Union. DC crime since the
- 9:36Speaker 3: announcement of federal control versus the seven days prior, robbery
- 9:42Speaker 3: down forty six percent, carjacking down eighty three percent, car
- 9:51Speaker 3: theft down twenty one percent, violent crime down twenty two percent,
- 10:00Speaker 3: property crime down six percent, and all crimes down eight percent.
- 10:09Speaker 3: That is in one week, in seven days. And if
- 10:13Speaker 3: you hear a wailing in the distance, that is the
- 10:16Speaker 3: collective wail of pain and unhappiness of Democrats in the media.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Because understood, this is not hyperbole. They are rooting for
- 10:24Speaker 3: the criminals. They do not want crime to go down,
- 10:27Speaker 3: because if crime goes down, it vindicates President Trump exercising
- 10:31Speaker 3: his constitutional authority to concerning d C and exercising his
- 10:36Speaker 3: authority is explicit statutory authority under the DC Home Rule Act.
- 10:40Speaker 3: The Democrats do not want that no.
- 10:42Speaker 1: They don't.
- 10:43Speaker 2: And there's also another aspect of this story, and that
- 10:46Speaker 2: is we now have the Justice Department that's investigating whether Washington,
- 10:51Speaker 2: DC police manipulated their crime data. Remember I was shoot
- 10:56Speaker 2: I was on scene in a week and a half,
- 10:57Speaker 2: two weeks ago, and they're like, your staff are wrong.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Crime is way down. The President doesn't need to do this.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Everything's moving in the right direction. Well, it may have
- 11:06Speaker 2: looked like crime was down, but now the Justice Department
- 11:09Speaker 2: is investigating whether the DC police purposely willfully manipulate the
- 11:14Speaker 2: crime data to basically fake people out, lie to the
- 11:18Speaker 2: systems of DC and they said, no, no, everything's getting better
- 11:21Speaker 2: from last year when it was really, really, really bad,
- 11:23Speaker 2: now it's not as bad. And apparently they may manipulated
- 11:27Speaker 2: the numbers, including a whistleblower that they've settled with.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Yet Look, I can tell you from someone who works
- 11:32Speaker 3: in DC, so most weeks I am in DC in
- 11:35Speaker 3: the Senate when the senate's in session. And in the
- 11:39Speaker 3: last four years under Joe Biden, the violence in DC
- 11:42Speaker 3: has gotten much worse. We've seen rand Paul had a
- 11:46Speaker 3: staffer who was stabbed on a public street at like
- 11:49Speaker 3: four in the afternoon, stabbed in the gut. There was
- 11:53Speaker 3: a guy who served in the first Trump administration who
- 11:56Speaker 3: was shot in the head. It killed at about five
- 11:59Speaker 3: pmsitting in his car on a street in d C.
- 12:02Speaker 3: This is not two in the morning in a rough neighborhood.
- 12:05Speaker 3: This is in a major metropolitan street. We had, you know,
- 12:10Speaker 3: not long ago, we had to Israelis murdered by a
- 12:15Speaker 3: radical Prohamas pro Palestinian leftist zealot from Chicago and d C.
- 12:23Speaker 3: As someone who works there. You know, it used to
- 12:25Speaker 3: be when when I started in the Senate, You know,
- 12:27Speaker 3: I would as you know, I love movies. We've done
- 12:29Speaker 3: a couple of podcasts where we talk about movies. When
- 12:32Speaker 3: I started in the Senate, I used to sometimes if
- 12:34Speaker 3: there was a night that I was done, Let's say
- 12:36Speaker 3: I was done at eight or nine o'clock at night.
- 12:38Speaker 3: There's a movie theater about five blocks from my house.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I used to routinely walk up to the movie theater
- 12:43Speaker 3: and just go see a movie.
- 12:45Speaker 4: I don't do that now. I mean, frankly, at nine.
- 12:48Speaker 2: O'clock at night, I know it's movie theater talking about Yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 2: no way you do that now at.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Nine o'clock at night, you don't walk five blocks in
- 12:55Speaker 3: d C. I'll tell you, I've got a guy in
- 12:59Speaker 3: my security d tail uh in in Washington who's a
- 13:02Speaker 3: tough guy. He's he's he's been in some some some
- 13:05Speaker 3: pretty rough combat situations.
- 13:06Speaker 4: You you bet him.
- 13:08Speaker 3: And and uh he was walking back to the Capitol
- 13:12Speaker 3: at ten pm and he had two guys, two teenagers,
- 13:15Speaker 3: jump him and try to rob him. Now, now, Mark's
- 13:18Speaker 3: a pretty tough guy. So he picked picked up one
- 13:20Speaker 3: of them and body slammed them into the back of
- 13:22Speaker 3: a car and the two of them ran off. But
- 13:25Speaker 3: the violence in d C has gotten really significantly worse.
- 13:31Speaker 3: And and you know, it's been interesting.
- 13:35Speaker 1: The reporters that are chairman what he said about it.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah, the reporters that are honest, who are interviewing d
- 13:42Speaker 3: C residents, many of whom most of whom are African American.
- 13:46Speaker 3: The residents are saying, thank god, we think this is great.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Lock these criminals up. Look, the DC residents don't like
- 13:52Speaker 3: living with the risk of drive by sittings. Henry Quayar,
- 13:55Speaker 3: who is a Democrat congressman, was carjacked again in the
- 13:59Speaker 3: earth early evening. He was coming home with dinner to
- 14:02Speaker 3: his apartment was apartment building. Apparently five other congressmen lived
- 14:05Speaker 3: in carjacked right out in the front of it. And
- 14:08Speaker 3: here's what Greg Pemberton. I want you to listen to
- 14:11Speaker 3: Greg Pemberton, who was the DC Police Union chairman, what
- 14:15Speaker 3: he said about the security of DC under Democrats.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Give a listen.
- 14:19Speaker 5: The criminal justice system here in the District of Columbia
- 14:21Speaker 5: is broken. Every aspect of it is broken, whether that's policing, prosecution,
- 14:27Speaker 5: judges and trials, sentencing and supervision, all of it is broken.
- 14:31Speaker 5: And you can trace every aspect of it back to
- 14:34Speaker 5: a piece of legislation that was passed by the council.
- 14:36Speaker 5: They have destroyed policing, they have destroyed prosecutions, they have
- 14:39Speaker 5: destroyed the way that the courts are allowed to operate,
- 14:41Speaker 5: and they've destroyed our ability to sentence criminals to sentences
- 14:45Speaker 5: that are commensurate with the crimes they've committed. And so
- 14:47Speaker 5: the only way to fix this holistically is to go
- 14:50Speaker 5: back and look at all of this legislation that the
- 14:52Speaker 5: Council passed it back in twenty twenty when there was
- 14:54Speaker 5: all of this anti police rhetoric, and work to undo that.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I know from my experiences the DC Council will never
- 15:01Speaker 5: do that on their own. And so what we're hoping
- 15:04Speaker 5: over the course of the next thirty days is that
- 15:05Speaker 5: whether that's the White House, whether that's these federal law
- 15:08Speaker 5: enforcement agencies, whether that's Congress, that people get an insight
- 15:12Speaker 5: into exactly how the system got so broken, because the
- 15:15Speaker 5: only way to fix it is if we can get
- 15:17Speaker 5: rid of that legislation. And my main concern is that
- 15:19Speaker 5: thirty days are going to go by, all of these
- 15:21Speaker 5: folks are going to go up about their merry way
- 15:23Speaker 5: and we're still going to be stuck with all this
- 15:25Speaker 5: bad law.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Like He's like, we know it's wrong, we know it's wrong.
- 15:28Speaker 2: We know exactly what's wrong, and if they don't fix it,
- 15:31Speaker 2: we're going to be back here. Thank good as the
- 15:33Speaker 2: President stepped in here and the citizens. I go back
- 15:36Speaker 2: to the media narrative here center, the citizens overwhelmingly trust
- 15:42Speaker 2: Donald Trump to fight crime more than they trusted Joe Biden.
- 15:45Speaker 2: And the citizens in Washington, DC overwhelmingly or trusting the
- 15:49Speaker 2: strategy of Donald Trump then their own city council members
- 15:53Speaker 2: and their mayor. And that is a threat, I think
- 15:56Speaker 2: to all these other high crime cities. Memphis Baltimore, Detroit,
- 16:01Speaker 2: New Orleans, San Francisco, LA. Because, yeah, if this works,
- 16:07Speaker 2: how do you then say no when the president offers
- 16:10Speaker 2: you help or national guard?
- 16:13Speaker 3: So understand, this is the same principle with securing the border.
- 16:16Speaker 3: So a year ago, at the State of the Union address,
- 16:19Speaker 3: Joe Biden said he could not secure the border. He
- 16:21Speaker 3: needed new legislation from Congress in order to secure the border.
- 16:25Speaker 3: We had at the time the highest rate of illegal
- 16:27Speaker 3: immigration in our nation's history. We had criminals and murderers
- 16:30Speaker 3: and gang members and rapists and child molesters and terrorists
- 16:34Speaker 3: streaming across the border. And he said he was helpless
- 16:36Speaker 3: to fix it. Donald Trump came in and the rate
- 16:39Speaker 3: of illegal border crossings dropped over ninety nine percent. As
- 16:45Speaker 3: President Trump said in the most recent State of the
- 16:48Speaker 3: Union address, it turns out we didn't need new legislation,
- 16:51Speaker 3: We just needed a new president. The same is true
- 16:55Speaker 3: in DC. If we see violent crime numbers continue to
- 16:58Speaker 3: go down and stay down, that demonstrates we can solve
- 17:03Speaker 3: crime in other cities too. And the reason residents of
- 17:07Speaker 3: your city are being murdered is because the Democrat mayors
- 17:10Speaker 3: and the Democrat city councils care more about the radical
- 17:14Speaker 3: leftists who hate the police, who want to defund the police,
- 17:16Speaker 3: who want abolish the police, than they care about your
- 17:19Speaker 3: family and your children. Look at spoke volumes when China's
- 17:23Speaker 3: president she came to visit San Francisco a few years ago,
- 17:28Speaker 3: and Gavin Newsoen came in and cleaned up San Francisco
- 17:31Speaker 3: and took out the homeless people and took out the
- 17:33Speaker 3: drug addicts, and the.
- 17:35Speaker 4: Streets were sparkling.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And I got to say, even if you are a
- 17:39Speaker 3: left wing Bolshevik in San Francisco, a tiny voice in
- 17:44Speaker 3: the back of your head must have said, wait a second,
- 17:47Speaker 3: if they could clean up the streets today, why didn't
- 17:51Speaker 3: they clean up the streets last week? Why do my
- 17:55Speaker 3: kids matter less than the president of China? And so
- 18:00Speaker 3: this is an existential threat to Democrats who want to
- 18:03Speaker 3: say we're helpless, we can't stop crime. And by the way,
- 18:07Speaker 3: part of their message is the only way to stop
- 18:09Speaker 3: crime is to disarm law abiding citizens. That gun control
- 18:15Speaker 3: doesn't solve it, but locking up violent criminals does, and
- 18:18Speaker 3: spoiler alert, that is what works in stopping violent crime.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Then the Democrats have a massive challenge. And I want
- 18:25Speaker 3: you to Listen to Caroline Levitt talking about some of
- 18:27Speaker 3: the results we've seen in just one week in DC.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Give a listen.
- 18:30Speaker 6: President Trump's efforts to make DC safe again are working.
- 18:34Speaker 6: There have been a total of four hundred and sixty
- 18:37Speaker 6: five arrests since the start of this operation on Thursday,
- 18:41Speaker 6: August seventh. Last night, there were a total of fifty
- 18:44Speaker 6: two arrests, including the arrest of an illegal alien MS
- 18:47Speaker 6: thirteen gang member with convictions for DWI and drug possession.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Thanks to President Trump's leadership in the outstanding work of
- 18:55Speaker 6: both federal and local law enforcement, dangerous gang members like
- 18:59Speaker 6: the one picked up last night will not be allowed
- 19:01Speaker 6: on the streets of our nation's capital. Other arrests last
- 19:04Speaker 6: night included assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing, parole
- 19:08Speaker 6: violation for robbery murder, outstanding warrant for attempted murder, assault
- 19:13Speaker 6: on federal law enforcement officer, and felony assault. Four more
- 19:17Speaker 6: homeless encampments were also removed during yesterday's reporting period. To date,
- 19:22Speaker 6: a total of forty eight homeless encampments have been cleared
- 19:25Speaker 6: in Washington, d C. By multi agency teams. MPD patrol
- 19:29Speaker 6: units are actively working with city officials to locate in
- 19:32Speaker 6: clear additional encampments and remove homeless residents off of Washington streets.
- 19:37Speaker 6: And despite fake narratives from the media, again, a significant
- 19:41Speaker 6: number of the arrests have been in high crime areas
- 19:43Speaker 6: of DC. In fact, nearly half of all of the
- 19:47Speaker 6: non illegal alien related arrests have occurred in Wards seven
- 19:52Speaker 6: and eight, the two wards that have the highest number
- 19:55Speaker 6: of violent crime as well as homicides and assaults with
- 19:58Speaker 6: dangerous weapons last year. So while Democrats continue to caddle
- 20:02Speaker 6: violent criminals, President Trump and this administration are focused on
- 20:05Speaker 6: putting them behind bars and unapologetically standing up for the
- 20:09Speaker 6: safety of law abiding American citizens. And the White House
- 20:12Speaker 6: will continue to provide all of you with the results
- 20:15Speaker 6: of this operation in the days ahead.
- 20:18Speaker 2: By the way, this goes back to the narrative. When
- 20:22Speaker 2: this was announced, the President was going to do this.
- 20:24Speaker 2: That night, I was doing Abby's Phillips show on CNN
- 20:28Speaker 2: and all of the panelists are losing their minds, saying,
- 20:31Speaker 2: Donald Trump, this was going to do nothing. They said,
- 20:34Speaker 2: He's putting them on the National Mall where there's no crime.
- 20:37Speaker 2: He's a dictator. They're not going to put the law
- 20:39Speaker 2: enforce it where the real crime is. That's why this
- 20:42Speaker 2: is a waste of resources. This is just him showing
- 20:46Speaker 2: and flexing his muscles that he can do this because
- 20:49Speaker 2: the present and this is what a dictator does.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Yet you're the crime sat there.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Where are they fighting crime where the criminals are?
- 20:56Speaker 1: And I said it, then I'll say it again.
- 20:58Speaker 2: It's amazing how much the left and the media hates
- 21:01Speaker 2: Donald Trump so much. They don't even care if they're
- 21:05Speaker 2: able to save lives through this. They just hate the
- 21:08Speaker 2: fact that Donald Trump wants to fight crime. So whatever
- 21:11Speaker 2: he says he wants to do, we're going to fight
- 21:13Speaker 2: it and lie and slander him. And regardless of how
- 21:17Speaker 2: many people lose their lives in DC or any other
- 21:19Speaker 2: city when this comes out.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah, look, that is exactly right. And I will point
- 21:23Speaker 3: out those very high crime neighborhoods in DC are overwhelmingly
- 21:29Speaker 3: African American and the woke left wing Democrat mayor painted
- 21:34Speaker 3: the words black Lives matter on the street at a
- 21:37Speaker 3: giant mural. They've removed that now, But when it comes
- 21:40Speaker 3: to actually protecting black lives, understand that a very significant
- 21:46Speaker 3: percentage of the murder victims from these violent criminals are
- 21:50Speaker 3: African Americans, and so Donald Trump and Republicans are stepping
- 21:54Speaker 3: in and saving black lives, and the position of Democrats
- 21:58Speaker 3: in the media is those black lives lives do not matter.
- 22:01Speaker 3: They'd rather they be victims of murder than actually have
- 22:06Speaker 3: law enforcement put violent.
- 22:07Speaker 4: Criminals in jail.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And Ben when I say that, that sounds unbelievably harsh,
- 22:14Speaker 3: but I want to ask you seriously, give me an
- 22:17Speaker 3: alternative explanation. If the explanation is not sure that the
- 22:22Speaker 3: Democrats do not give a damn about whether black lives
- 22:26Speaker 3: matter and whether they're saving African Americans from being victims
- 22:30Speaker 3: of homicide, then why are they so adamantly opposed to
- 22:33Speaker 3: supporting law enforcement putting violent criminals in jail.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 22:37Speaker 1: No, this is the Democratic Party now.
- 22:39Speaker 2: They'd rather see Donald Trump fail than actually save American lives.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Don't forget. We do the show Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Also, this episode is up on YouTube, so if you
- 22:48Speaker 2: want to watch it, we put up there on YouTube
- 22:50Speaker 2: as well.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Hit that subscribe or auto download button.
- 22:53Speaker 2: We're going to keep giving you the stats out of
- 22:55Speaker 2: DC because I promise you the media is not going
- 22:57Speaker 2: to do it. We cover these stories, give you the
- 22:59Speaker 2: fact please share it wherever you can on social media
- 23:03Speaker 2: and the Senator and I will see you back here
- 23:05Speaker 2: on Friday morning.
- 23:06Speaker 1: As before.
- 23:07Speaker 2: If you want to hear the rest of this conversation
- 23:09Speaker 2: on this topic, you can go back and down the
- 23:11Speaker 2: podcast from earlier this week to hear the entire thing.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I want to get back to the big story number
- 23:17Speaker 2: three of the week. You may have missed one other
- 23:20Speaker 2: big story we got to get in here, Senator, is
- 23:22Speaker 2: Biden's auto pen. We've got a new big update on
- 23:25Speaker 2: this story. And apparently Joe Biden deliberately ignored his own
- 23:31Speaker 2: Department of Justice's warnings over legally flawed autopen pardons. And
- 23:37Speaker 2: we also found out about how many pardons they were
- 23:40Speaker 2: giving out, and they claimed from the White House podium
- 23:43Speaker 2: that these are all non violent offenders.
- 23:46Speaker 1: That was also a huge lie.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Well that's right, and I will say this is the
- 23:50Speaker 3: sort of story why we do Verdict as a podcast,
- 23:54Speaker 3: why we do it as a radio show, because this
- 23:56Speaker 3: is the kind of story you will never see on CNN.
- 23:58Speaker 3: You won't see it on MSNBC or ABCNBCCBS, it will
- 24:02Speaker 3: not be covered by the corporate media because it is inconvenient.
- 24:06Speaker 3: We have talked about at length the problems with Joe
- 24:09Speaker 3: Biden's autopen that the president does not have the authority
- 24:12Speaker 3: to delegate presidential power to another staff member. And when
- 24:17Speaker 3: it comes to an autopen, the critical question whether a
- 24:19Speaker 3: statute sign in law by an autopen, an executive order
- 24:22Speaker 3: signed by an autopen, or a pardoner commutation signed by
- 24:25Speaker 3: an autopen. The critical question for whether it is legally
- 24:28Speaker 3: valid is whether the President personally and directly authorized it,
- 24:32Speaker 3: whether the President made the decision. If it's a staffer
- 24:34Speaker 3: who made the decision, it is not valid and it
- 24:36Speaker 3: is legally void. Well, what broke it is recently is
- 24:41Speaker 3: this week, is is that at the time that Joe
- 24:43Speaker 3: Biden was using the autopen, or rather the White House
- 24:46Speaker 3: staffers were using the autopen, a senior career staffer in
- 24:50Speaker 3: the Biden Department of Justice was raising real legal questions
- 24:53Speaker 3: about it. Here's the story on Fox News headline Biden's
- 24:57Speaker 3: autopen pardons disturbed DOJ brass Stock show raising questions whether
- 25:01Speaker 3: they are legally binding. New documents and communications between Biden
- 25:05Speaker 3: White House staff and career officials of the Justice Department
- 25:08Speaker 3: prompted scrutiny of the legality of former President Joe Biden's
- 25:12Speaker 3: thousands of last minute pardons. The Oversight Project shared documents
- 25:17Speaker 3: obtained from the Trump DOJ with Fox News Digital showing
- 25:21Speaker 3: that a career prosecutor warned Biden's inner circle that the
- 25:25Speaker 3: administration's pardon process was unorthodox and legally troubling. In the
- 25:31Speaker 3: most scrutinized email, then Assistant Deputy Attorney General Bradley Weinsheimer
- 25:39Speaker 3: wrote a group email to several Executive Office staff members
- 25:42Speaker 3: on January eighteenth, asking questions about the more than two
- 25:46Speaker 3: thy five hundred pardons.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Quote.
- 25:48Speaker 3: The White House has described those who received commutations as
- 25:52Speaker 3: people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. I think you should
- 25:56Speaker 3: stop saying that because it is untre true or at
- 26:01Speaker 3: least misleading. That's what DOJ said to the Biden White House.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Mind you, they didn't stop it. They continued to be
- 26:07Speaker 3: untrue and misleading. He continued. Quote, as you know, even
- 26:12Speaker 3: with the exceedingly limited review we were permitted to do,
- 26:14Speaker 3: of the individuals we believed you might be considering for
- 26:17Speaker 3: commutation action, we initially identified nineteen that were highly problematic,
- 26:22Speaker 3: he continued. He cited convicts Terence Richardson and Faron Clayborne,
- 26:28Speaker 3: who were included in the clemency grants, and noted that
- 26:31Speaker 3: the DOJ received voluminous objections from the victims, families and
- 26:35Speaker 3: law enforcement as the men had been sentenced to life
- 26:39Speaker 3: imprisonment for drug trafficking offenses during which a police officer
- 26:45Speaker 3: was killed. Mind you, this is what the Biden White
- 26:47Speaker 3: House said was a non violent offense drug trafficking where
- 26:51Speaker 3: a police officer was killed. And beyond that, according to
- 26:56Speaker 3: Oversight Project Vice president Kyle Brosnan, shows that DOJ was
- 27:01Speaker 3: concerned about the quote vague construct of Biden's pardons and
- 27:05Speaker 3: how they appeared to be quote illegally delegated to staff.
- 27:09Speaker 3: That left the DOJ wondering at times which offenses for
- 27:14Speaker 3: people with multiple convictions were specifically being expunged. Later in
- 27:19Speaker 3: the email, he was like, quote look, I read the
- 27:22Speaker 3: statement you put out in the President's name saying you've
- 27:24Speaker 3: released a bunch of nonviolent drug offenders. You've got murderers
- 27:27Speaker 3: on your list today. So I'm trying to figure out
- 27:30Speaker 3: what the president wants here for this funky warrant.
- 27:34Speaker 2: That is incredible, isn't it. I mean funky warrant and
- 27:38Speaker 2: that's coming again. From his own DOJ saying we don't
- 27:41Speaker 2: know what he wants, we don't know what he's doing.
- 27:43Speaker 1: It doesn't make sense.
- 27:44Speaker 4: Yeah, this is the Biden DOJ.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Weinsheimer continued, quote, I think it is best that we
- 27:49Speaker 3: receive a statement or direction from the President as to
- 27:52Speaker 3: the meaning of the warrant language that will allow us
- 27:54Speaker 3: to give full effect to the commutation warrant in the
- 27:57Speaker 3: manner intended by the president. And there was ultimate no
- 28:00Speaker 3: explanation for what the offenses or the proverbial descriptions were,
- 28:05Speaker 3: according to the document tronch, and instead there was simply
- 28:11Speaker 3: a spreadsheet of convicts attached to one of the emails
- 28:15Speaker 3: that came from the US Sentencing Commission. But only the
- 28:19Speaker 3: president has the power to grant pardons, not the Sentencing Commission.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Treating it otherwise would be an illegal delegation of presidential authority.
- 28:27Speaker 2: When you look at this, what does this mean moving
- 28:30Speaker 2: forward for the investigation into the president's use the autopen
- 28:34Speaker 2: and many things he may have signed that he didn't
- 28:38Speaker 2: know about. Right, this was just anybody at the White
- 28:41Speaker 2: House pretty much that had any type of power can
- 28:43Speaker 2: just walk in there and get things done.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And what does this mean?
- 28:46Speaker 2: For all of the they claimed non violent offenders that
- 28:50Speaker 2: they were pardoning.
- 28:51Speaker 1: We've also found out a bunch of them that was
- 28:53Speaker 1: very violent. It was a lie.
- 28:55Speaker 3: It was a lie. They knew it was a lie.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Their own Department of Justice told them it was a lie.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Didn't care it was a lie. They continued lying to
- 29:01Speaker 3: the American people. They knew that the New York Times
- 29:04Speaker 3: would never call them out. They knew that the corrupt
- 29:06Speaker 3: media would never call them out, so they could lie
- 29:08Speaker 3: and lie and lie and know that nobody would know
- 29:11Speaker 3: about it. And as a legal matter, the Brasnan from
- 29:15Speaker 3: the Oversight Project said, quote Biden did not pardon individual people,
- 29:19Speaker 3: but laid out categories of types of people to release
- 29:22Speaker 3: and left it to staff to figure out who meets
- 29:24Speaker 3: that criteria. Attorney Sam Dewey told Fox News Digital that quote, literally,
- 29:31Speaker 3: no one, including DOJ officials, understands what the aforementioned pardon
- 29:36Speaker 3: criteria are. And he continued, quote, you generally don't see
- 29:41Speaker 3: people write emails like this. This isn't a cya. This
- 29:46Speaker 3: is I'm going to do a ponscious pilot routine because
- 29:49Speaker 3: this is a drug deal and I want to make
- 29:51Speaker 3: sure it doesn't come back on me. And the consequence
- 29:55Speaker 3: of that it is that the pardon, if they were
- 30:00Speaker 3: not authorized by the President of the United States, they
- 30:04Speaker 3: are invalid. And so what I have verged the White
- 30:06Speaker 3: House to do, what I've verged the Department of Justice
- 30:09Speaker 3: to do, is to go through the records of everything
- 30:12Speaker 3: that was autopenned and determine there may be some The
- 30:15Speaker 3: President does have the authority to direct someone to autopen
- 30:19Speaker 3: something that he's signing, whether a law or an executive
- 30:22Speaker 3: order or a pardon, and if it's the president who's
- 30:24Speaker 3: making the decision, the prevailing the Department of Justice interpretation
- 30:28Speaker 3: is that is legal in binding. But if the President
- 30:31Speaker 3: didn't make the decision, if it's a staffer who's making
- 30:34Speaker 3: the decision, then it has no binding force. And so
- 30:38Speaker 3: what I've encouraged both the White House and Department of
- 30:40Speaker 3: Justice is to find those pardons, those executive orders, those
- 30:43Speaker 3: statutes that were autopen for which there is a clear
- 30:46Speaker 3: lack of evidence that Joe Biden had awareness of it,
- 30:50Speaker 3: made a decision about it, and then formulate and carry
- 30:53Speaker 3: out a legal strategy to challenge and end up concluding
- 30:57Speaker 3: that those statutes, executive order pardons and commutations are invalid.
- 31:02Speaker 3: I think the possibility of a legal determination of that
- 31:05Speaker 3: is rising significantly. And the fact that you had senior
- 31:09Speaker 3: career DOJ officials in the Biden administration ringing the alarm
- 31:13Speaker 3: bells and saying you're lying to the American people and
- 31:16Speaker 3: what you're doing is lawless, that is yet another stunning
- 31:19Speaker 3: revelation that has come out this week.
- 31:21Speaker 2: As always, thank you for listening to Verdict with Center
