- 2:25Speaker 1: fall of twenty nineteen and eventually landed at BT plus
- 2:28Speaker 1: in and now we all get to see and experienced
- 2:32Speaker 1: this incredibly talented a young lady and amazing cast. By
- 2:35Speaker 1: the way, because you can't do this. She was a
- 2:37Speaker 1: stand up comic by herself. On this show. She got
- 2:39Speaker 1: some funny people. It's a new sitcom going back on
- 2:42Speaker 1: the road. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk
- 2:44Speaker 1: about code, will talk about building your dream. Please work
- 2:47Speaker 1: with the money making conversation. Somebody that came into my
- 2:50Speaker 1: life via a newspaper article in twenty seventeen, Patricia Williams
- 2:54Speaker 1: a K Miss pat How you doing? How are you doing?
- 2:58Speaker 1: Thank you for having me? Well for I said enough
- 3:01Speaker 1: about you? Or or do conn't say? Some moments back,
- 3:05Speaker 1: I think you said enough about me. Well, first of all,
- 3:07Speaker 1: let's get started about why stand up? While are your
- 3:11Speaker 1: stand up comedian? Um? I know I thought I was funny.
- 3:15Speaker 1: I never wanted to be a stand up comedian. Uh.
- 3:18Speaker 1: People just in my neighborhood and then my life was like,
- 3:21Speaker 1: you know, you really should push you should really think
- 3:23Speaker 1: about being a comedian a trip to the welfare owns
- 3:27Speaker 1: and it was like, you, you know, we had to
- 3:28Speaker 1: pick careers. I never forget Bill Clinton was a president
- 3:31Speaker 1: and that was the first person I voted for. He
- 3:33Speaker 1: started a welfare of work program. So I was trying
- 3:35Speaker 1: to get a career. No longer watched the Younger Arrests,
- 3:40Speaker 1: which pisces me out because I was like, I an't
- 3:42Speaker 1: gonna make me get a hand on the younger arrests.
- 3:45Speaker 1: We'll make a long story show a case work. Was like,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you should really, you know, looking to stand up. You're
- 3:50Speaker 1: so funny. And I'm like, I know, I want to
- 3:52Speaker 1: be a nurse. He's like, no, you should be. You
- 3:54Speaker 1: should looking to stand up. And then I realized I'm
- 3:57Speaker 1: a convicted felon and nobody was gonna ever give me
- 3:59Speaker 1: a job as a nurse. I just decided it just started.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I went to open mic. Uh huh, well, you know
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm being a farmer comedian. I guess I can always
- 4:07Speaker 1: say I'm a comedian. Okay, I've done enough in my
- 4:10Speaker 1: life from STEPH Comedy Jam to BT Comic view that
- 4:14Speaker 1: open mic, just walking on that stage the very first
- 4:17Speaker 1: time because you because like you people told me I
- 4:19Speaker 1: was funny, and then I had to be convinced by
- 4:22Speaker 1: my sister and Hunt and my nephew. I would do
- 4:25Speaker 1: comedy routines in front of them on their in their
- 4:27Speaker 1: living room, and they said, that's funny, and that's funny.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You should do that. You do that. How did you
- 4:31Speaker 1: put together your first five minutes to go on stage? Ms?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Pat I went to this place that was near my
- 4:37Speaker 1: house called the pub, and it was just a bunch
- 4:40Speaker 1: of open Michaels. And I didn't I didn't even know
- 4:42Speaker 1: you're supposed to put together anything. My literally, my first
- 4:46Speaker 1: joke was about my brother being a fat cat burgler.
- 4:48Speaker 1: So I just went and I just went and told
- 4:50Speaker 1: a story that I was familiar with. And I went
- 4:53Speaker 1: there and they laughed, and I was like. I went
- 4:56Speaker 1: home and I told my husband said, guess what, I'm
- 4:58Speaker 1: a comedian. He's going to work tomorrow. Now. When when
- 5:04Speaker 1: what year was that? When year was there when you
- 5:06Speaker 1: walked on stage? I think it was early two thousand,
- 5:10Speaker 1: two thousand one, something like that. Well, we know, we
- 5:13Speaker 1: all have dreams. I know. When I started doing stand up,
- 5:15Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy was the talk of the land. Richard Pryor
- 5:17Speaker 1: was the King of comedy. And then as you see
- 5:20Speaker 1: the evolved, you know when I managed Steve Harvey and
- 5:24Speaker 1: two thousand the original Kings of Comedy came out and
- 5:26Speaker 1: Burnie McK hit the streets, and the hit the street
- 5:29Speaker 1: and said came became a super Bowl commercial star, and
- 5:32Speaker 1: Steve Harvey became a radio star, and it was a
- 5:35Speaker 1: television star at the time on w B. What influences
- 5:38Speaker 1: did you have this pat the story, Like you said,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, you still a naturally talent person. Did anybody
- 5:44Speaker 1: influence you as a comedian, an actress or a singer. No,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about coming Honestly, Um, I thought
- 5:52Speaker 1: Richard Pryor was just, you know, actor, So I didn't.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I didn't really dig into comedy. And when I started
- 5:59Speaker 1: to open my and people will say, you got these
- 6:01Speaker 1: crazy stories, and you you remind me of Richard Pryor,
- 6:05Speaker 1: and I'm like, he's an actor, and he was like
- 6:07Speaker 1: he was a comedient. So I just started to do
- 6:09Speaker 1: my research and I was like, I am a storyteller.
- 6:11Speaker 1: So I got heavily into watching Bill Cosby because he's
- 6:15Speaker 1: a great season's great storyteller. And I got into Richard Pryor,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and I realized that my stories were more like rich Richard,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know, in your face, honestly, honest, and I like
- 6:28Speaker 1: to put them together the way Bills Cosby because they
- 6:31Speaker 1: were so great at storyteller. So those two was kind
- 6:34Speaker 1: of my biggest influence, you know, when I really dug
- 6:37Speaker 1: into I wanted to be a comedian. Well know, it's
- 6:40Speaker 1: interesting you say that because, uh, you know, when I
- 6:45Speaker 1: see your stand up, just it is the storytelling, but
- 6:49Speaker 1: it's the rawness of Red Fox. Did I see and
- 6:54Speaker 1: in you? And I see it because of the fact
- 6:57Speaker 1: that you're just talking, you know what I'm saying that
- 7:00Speaker 1: And I think that you know, he didn't hear me
- 7:03Speaker 1: out on this because it's a compliment about you and
- 7:05Speaker 1: your talents, and it's that there's a filter and I
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't think you have with Okay, you don't have it.
- 7:16Speaker 1: She don't have a filter, this woman, I'm talking to
- 7:18Speaker 1: you right here. If it's if it's if it's in
- 7:20Speaker 1: front of her head, it's gonna come out of her mouth. Okay.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And that's a beauty because that's why she's on this show.
- 7:26Speaker 1: That's why she's a show, and that's why she's successful.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Stand up comedian. That's why she goes on. Her name
- 7:31Speaker 1: appears on the billboard and as her shows sell out.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's gonna be honest about that. So now Red Fox,
- 7:38Speaker 1: which was my era growing up, because he was an influence,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but he was just you know what, Like I said,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I was influenced by you know, I knew about Bill Cobby.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I was like over just in awe of Richard Pryor.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But you when I see Red Fox, I see this
- 7:55Speaker 1: uncanny ability to stay streeked and then but relatable because
- 8:00Speaker 1: it's about your personal life. Am I am I hiding
- 8:03Speaker 1: it right for you, miss pat because you didn't mention
- 8:06Speaker 1: Red Fox. Oh no, I think I didn't mention Red
- 8:12Speaker 1: Fox because I didn't fall a lot of this comedy.
- 8:14Speaker 1: You know, I just know Red Fox were from San Franisan,
- 8:17Speaker 1: but I know how funny he was. But I was
- 8:19Speaker 1: able to find a lot more Richard Prior material when
- 8:24Speaker 1: I first started, and that was made me. I really
- 8:27Speaker 1: wanted to tell stories I've heard, I've heard Richard, I've
- 8:33Speaker 1: heard Red Fox before. I mean, it's either either I
- 8:36Speaker 1: get Richard Vernon met or Red Fox. That's when people
- 8:39Speaker 1: come up and tell me it's finally here the season
- 8:42Speaker 1: of celebration. And no matter how you celebrate with family
- 8:46Speaker 1: and friends, whether you're preparing for Reyes magos or Karamu
- 8:49Speaker 1: lighting the Manura, are going to midnight mass, Coles has

- 9:16Speaker 1: And in the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating
- 9:19Speaker 1: eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the
- 9:23Speaker 1: health and well being of our communities. No matter how
- 9:26Speaker 1: you celebrate, when you shop at Coal's, you're right where
- 9:29Speaker 1: you belong. So this season, give with all your heart

- 9:45Speaker 1: a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky, they see
- 9:49Speaker 1: treasure and pebbles, They see a windy path that could
- 9:52Speaker 1: lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.

- 10:13Speaker 1: This morning. Mom is coming out the front door, strong
- 10:16Speaker 1: with a double arm kid carry. Looks like Dad has
- 10:18Speaker 1: the bags. Daughter is bringing up the rear. Oh, but
- 10:21Speaker 1: the diaper bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys are everywhere.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Oh but mom has just nailed the perfect car seat
- 10:30Speaker 1: buckle for the toddler. And now the eldest daughter, who
- 10:33Speaker 1: looks to be about nine or ten, has secured herself
- 10:36Speaker 1: in the booster seat. Dad zips the bag clothes and
- 10:39Speaker 1: they're off. Ah, but looks like Mom doesn't realize her
- 10:43Speaker 1: coffee cup is still on the roof of the car
- 10:45Speaker 1: and there it goes. Oh, that's a shame. That mug
- 10:49Speaker 1: was a fan favorite. Don't sweat the small stuff, just
- 10:52Speaker 1: nailed the big stuff, like making sure your kids are
- 10:54Speaker 1: buckled correctly in the right seat for their agent's eyes.

- 11:04Speaker 1: brought to you by Mezza and the ad Council. Well,
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm tellious all that's complimentary, okay when you talk about
- 11:09Speaker 1: what you're trying to do, because you know, like you said,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you didn't really have any history or anyone want to
- 11:13Speaker 1: be a stand up comedian and actress for that matter.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You know, you're just as a person who unfortunately was
- 11:19Speaker 1: a fella has spent you had had jail time, like
- 11:22Speaker 1: no different than comedian Tim Allen who hosted Home Improvement.
- 11:26Speaker 1: He had jailed, He spent significant jail time and it
- 11:28Speaker 1: also came over and became a hit sitcom star. And
- 11:32Speaker 1: the fact that you say Sanford in Sign. I was
- 11:35Speaker 1: telling my staff today when I came into myself, so
- 11:37Speaker 1: I saw four episodes of this show, and I said,
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's very groundbreaking to me. I said, I haven't seen
- 11:42Speaker 1: a show, especially a black show. There was this authentic
- 11:46Speaker 1: sense Sanford in Sign and Sanford the Sign. I said,
- 11:49Speaker 1: that's after the Sun at the time would actually say
- 11:51Speaker 1: the N word on network television, and and and and
- 11:55Speaker 1: because that was that was rare. We're gonna keep it real.
- 11:58Speaker 1: If if you use it in the camera, you're gonna
- 12:00Speaker 1: use a camera. And who asked you why? Now? We
- 12:03Speaker 1: will be t plus So you know there's some cousin
- 12:06Speaker 1: going on. Y'all y'all get y'all get as they said,
- 12:08Speaker 1: y'all get wild, y'all get wild. Plus y'all talking, y'all talking,
- 12:13Speaker 1: won't get And that Tammy Roman. I'm gonna tell you something.
- 12:17Speaker 1: That girl right there, you gotta co star co stars
- 12:20Speaker 1: right there, that young ladies, funny child. I did not
- 12:22Speaker 1: know that about Tammy Roman. I want to know how
- 12:24Speaker 1: y'all cast Tammy Roman, because Tammy Roman is gonna be
- 12:28Speaker 1: your star. This young lady right now. I've seen four episodes,
- 12:31Speaker 1: so don't tim. I just saw the pilot. She's just
- 12:33Speaker 1: funny in the pilot. I saw the episode two, I
- 12:36Speaker 1: saw episode three, I saw episode four. Your but it's funny,
- 12:40Speaker 1: your husband, but it's funny, A little bit of boy's funny.
- 12:44Speaker 1: And your daughter who thinks you know everything funny, your
- 12:47Speaker 1: lazy twenty of your son, your daughter who comes in
- 12:50Speaker 1: later because she because you just kind of like this
- 12:52Speaker 1: enfranchise to that whole episode is very groundbreaking as far
- 12:56Speaker 1: as the language from a gay community standpoint coming out
- 12:59Speaker 1: of your mouth, being able to say that and get
- 13:02Speaker 1: away with it, and then how morality tied to it.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And I'm just being me, what's the problem. And I
- 13:08Speaker 1: walked through and said, did she say that? But I'm
- 13:10Speaker 1: just saying all these things to everybody who's watching and
- 13:13Speaker 1: listening to this interview. We're talking to the next next
- 13:17Speaker 1: And the reason I say that, I can't say who
- 13:18Speaker 1: she is, but I just know right now I'm talking
- 13:21Speaker 1: to a young lady right now that I'm interviewing on
- 13:23Speaker 1: money making conversation is not only brilliant, but she's career
- 13:27Speaker 1: defining in her path and she's authentic and she's original.
- 13:31Speaker 1: That's who you are, Missy. I'm not closing out. This
- 13:32Speaker 1: interview might sound like our interview close out. I'm just
- 13:35Speaker 1: telling you. I'm just I just gotta put it out there,
- 13:37Speaker 1: earl in this conversation with people listening to me because
- 13:39Speaker 1: they know I tell the truth. You special young lady.
- 13:41Speaker 1: We talk about Tammy Ray what it was funny because
- 13:46Speaker 1: this show was created with me at a twenty three
- 13:48Speaker 1: year old kid who had I was in college at
- 13:51Speaker 1: the time, never wrote anything but a play that was
- 13:55Speaker 1: at the Public in New York, and that was my
- 13:57Speaker 1: third writer. And Lee Dany was like, I'm gonna go
- 13:59Speaker 1: to this street and find you a writer because I
- 14:02Speaker 1: really think it's something here. So I said, okay, Lee whatever.
- 14:05Speaker 1: He found his kid on my birthday, flew me out
- 14:08Speaker 1: from wherever I was performing there and make a long
- 14:10Speaker 1: story short, I meet him and we get to talking,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and you know, we create the pallet of ourselves where
- 14:16Speaker 1: they say we couldn't do it. And then he get
- 14:18Speaker 1: a job and he tells me because we were really close.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He's twenty three years old, and then we called him
- 14:23Speaker 1: to Dreamer there. He's like, I know who you're gonna
- 14:25Speaker 1: be your husband, and I know who's gonna be your sister.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And so he pulled Tammy Roman up in the bonnet
- 14:31Speaker 1: chronic chronic that she does on Instagram. And I was like, no,
- 14:35Speaker 1: they're like crazy, She's not gonna be my sister. He
- 14:37Speaker 1: was like, I'm telling you all are so good, y'all
- 14:39Speaker 1: like Lucien Elthon and that, and I was like no,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and so and then and later on I found out
- 14:44Speaker 1: she was a reality star and I was like, I
- 14:47Speaker 1: don't want to reality star on the show. I want
- 14:49Speaker 1: real actors because this is my first acting gig. He's like, no, Pat,
- 14:53Speaker 1: just listen. So we we we auditioned, we audition and
- 14:57Speaker 1: I found a girl that I thought I really liked.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So we she had number one by her name. In
- 15:02Speaker 1: walked Tammy Roman with the nail's pain. It just just
- 15:05Speaker 1: looked like this character from Top to Talk and I
- 15:08Speaker 1: didn't like her. I did not like her. But baby,
- 15:11Speaker 1: when she walked out of that room and I looked
- 15:12Speaker 1: at everybody's like that go deniece. She came and she
- 15:17Speaker 1: stole it. She stole the job. I mean literally, she
- 15:20Speaker 1: wouldn't hand her anything because, you know, because she had
- 15:23Speaker 1: a name. Who wasn't trying to get people an Instagram.
- 15:25Speaker 1: We was trying to get real actors. Or when I
- 15:27Speaker 1: tell you we're actors and real actress. When I tell you,
- 15:30Speaker 1: this girl came into that room and stole that job,
- 15:34Speaker 1: stole that job, and the chemistry that we have on
- 15:37Speaker 1: set is like unreal. You know, It's like like you
- 15:42Speaker 1: can the way the way this the way this show
- 15:44Speaker 1: was cast. You were like, I almost believe this is
- 15:47Speaker 1: a real family, from the husband to all the kids.
- 15:50Speaker 1: You know, we we we didn't leave no stone unturned.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And but she did a wonderful job. And I'm so
- 15:57Speaker 1: happy that people can see another Tammy because it was
- 16:01Speaker 1: like she's a natural. I'm like, this girl can egg
- 16:04Speaker 1: behind and fun. I'm telling you something because I know
- 16:09Speaker 1: Tammy all the way back to Steve Harvey sitcom on
- 16:11Speaker 1: w B. That's when I first knew she could act.
- 16:13Speaker 1: You know, she did. She did a couple of cameos
- 16:16Speaker 1: on his series way back then. Then she went into
- 16:18Speaker 1: this reality star role. And so when I started reading
- 16:20Speaker 1: the credits, I go Tammy Roma and doing the stand
- 16:23Speaker 1: up doing doing a comedy. And the first scene that
- 16:27Speaker 1: she comes in and she just lays it out there
- 16:29Speaker 1: go her timing, and uh, it was, you know, acquired me.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I'm just gonna tell you what that means. They tried
- 16:35Speaker 1: to acquire me, you know, and y'all look at the show,
- 16:38Speaker 1: y'all just look at the show, y'all find out what
- 16:39Speaker 1: that means. That that's a that's sus a temple of
- 16:42Speaker 1: who she is. She as they say, my mom will
- 16:45Speaker 1: tell me, she's shiftless she's lazy, she has no aspirations.
- 16:49Speaker 1: But she got a sister, and the sister got patience
- 16:51Speaker 1: with her, and the family got patience with her. She
- 16:54Speaker 1: think she's a know at all. But when you when
- 16:56Speaker 1: you have a person like that who comes in who
- 17:00Speaker 1: you you didn't think it was the one, not pat
- 17:02Speaker 1: you didn't think there was on your show, you know,
- 17:04Speaker 1: ms Pad. I want the actress and I want people
- 17:06Speaker 1: I've seen on TV. And it's so funny because when
- 17:09Speaker 1: I when I listened to this interview, you didn't watch TV,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you didn't watch movies. You didn't know nothing about the
- 17:14Speaker 1: history of stand up comedy. Sometimes I figure out, how
- 17:17Speaker 1: do you make a decision with somebody she can't do
- 17:19Speaker 1: the job, and you do you know about four or
- 17:21Speaker 1: five people on your hand, that's all you know. I mean,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm not I'm a comedian, but I don't watch reality shows.
- 17:30Speaker 1: I'm over. I'm an age drug dealer. So I like games,
- 17:32Speaker 1: the movies, you know, like Knockos the Wire. I watched those, Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 1: throw me off the boat. You know, I don't watch
- 17:40Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. Okay, so you're knocking, You're knocking
- 17:43Speaker 1: on reality, So you want knock on Netflix? Yeah, you're
- 17:47Speaker 1: my girl. There, you're my girl right then. See, but
- 17:51Speaker 1: come on, I like that kind of stuff. Come on
- 17:55Speaker 1: that Handmads Teler is not drug dealing Handmads tellers. Well,
- 18:00Speaker 1: it is a place where they cutting off things. I
- 18:02Speaker 1: mean I was like, I like that. So when she
- 18:08Speaker 1: came alone, I mean, she just she just fit the bill.
- 18:11Speaker 1: She really did. And I remember talking to she said,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you know, people like I know you what you probably
- 18:15Speaker 1: heard about me. I said, I have never heard anything
- 18:17Speaker 1: about you, because I didn't even know who you was
- 18:20Speaker 1: until we started casting. And I said, look, I take
- 18:22Speaker 1: people for who they are, not for what somebody else say.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You did. You know what I'm saying, Hey, I don't
- 18:28Speaker 1: come through to me who you are. I don't. I
- 18:30Speaker 1: don't dislike you for what somebody else dislike you for.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I get to know people, and I got to know
- 18:37Speaker 1: and I mean, she is just a wonderful person to
- 18:40Speaker 1: work with, you know. And one thing about me, I'm real.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So I sent my cast down and I said, hey,
- 18:47Speaker 1: we're not gonna worry about no call. She who's first
- 18:50Speaker 1: on the call, She who's a star, I said, because
- 18:52Speaker 1: this is all of our show. It takes all of
- 18:54Speaker 1: us to get this done it. I said, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 1: the only difference is that they got my name. I'm
- 19:00Speaker 1: no fool. I know it's my show, I said, but
- 19:02Speaker 1: I can't do it without you guys. So we all stars,
- 19:06Speaker 1: and I just broke down that Hollywood bearer from the
- 19:09Speaker 1: day one. The only difference is all pay checks. Here's
- 19:13Speaker 1: a here's a funny part about that speech she just
- 19:15Speaker 1: gave me. She said, you know I need all y'all.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You know, you know, don't worry about that call sheet,
- 19:20Speaker 1: but my name on the show. So don't get stupid. Now,
- 19:23Speaker 1: you get stupid that on that one day, you get
- 19:24Speaker 1: stupid to forget that. I'm gonna remind you this miss
- 19:27Speaker 1: patting and I Patricia Wellips straight out the street from
- 19:31Speaker 1: a drug deal, a convicted fellow. I will show you
- 19:34Speaker 1: part of reality that you don't want to see about me.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And that's what the reality this show is bringing all
- 19:40Speaker 1: these individual girls. I know, I'm just talking about Tammy
- 19:42Speaker 1: Roman from a stand up comedian, from a from a
- 19:44Speaker 1: comedic standpoint, how she stood out put your husband and
- 19:48Speaker 1: he's funny, your young son's funny. Let's talk about that opening.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And like I said, the show opens you with heard talking,
- 19:56Speaker 1: you know, because I'm not gonna give away the show
- 19:58Speaker 1: too much, but it did a tram positions into her
- 20:01Speaker 1: house and it is like going to the plane right
- 20:06Speaker 1: and right right it is. It's really like I said,
- 20:10Speaker 1: it's really so slick the way you guys are doing it,
- 20:13Speaker 1: and it's so entertaining, you know. I was really fascinated about.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And some of my questions were from a production standpoint.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Some of my questions were, how much were you involved
- 20:24Speaker 1: when you with this whole creative cold opening and the
- 20:28Speaker 1: character set up, and also the scripts? Do you do
- 20:31Speaker 1: you get to play with Hey, I don't like that
- 20:33Speaker 1: line that I say that line? Do? They shoot several
- 20:35Speaker 1: scenes and this is the scene from the script they
- 20:37Speaker 1: go do your thing scene because a lot of times
- 20:40Speaker 1: when they have talented comedians like you, they go, hey, okay,
- 20:42Speaker 1: this is a script, but do your thing on this
- 20:44Speaker 1: with Misspath. How does that work? Actually we had writers,
- 20:49Speaker 1: We had writers, honestly, but that was not one script
- 20:52Speaker 1: that we didn't go back in touch. So you know,
- 20:55Speaker 1: you can have anybody, you know, mostly writers with this show.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Is there too to will build a form? Because it's
- 21:02Speaker 1: such my voice, so I have to touch every strip,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and and some of them had to be totally rewritch,
- 21:09Speaker 1: totally rerech so to bother down to and me and
- 21:12Speaker 1: the co creator, Jordan Cooper wrote every strip. We wrote
- 21:16Speaker 1: on every strip, so umh, only me and him was
- 21:20Speaker 1: allowed to change things. You know. Uh. It was never
- 21:24Speaker 1: like do your thing, because I felt like we wrote
- 21:26Speaker 1: these strips funny enough to we everybody she made to
- 21:30Speaker 1: follow the strip. Now, we did make up some stuff
- 21:32Speaker 1: on the floor and as far as production and all
- 21:35Speaker 1: of that stuff you see opening that came from this
- 21:37Speaker 1: twenty three year old he's twenty six now, twenty six
- 21:40Speaker 1: year old kid out did all that plane opened it
- 21:42Speaker 1: and the way I do the monologues and the comedy
- 21:45Speaker 1: of firm, all that stuff came from him. You know.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We literally wrote each one of those monologue the day
- 21:51Speaker 1: before I was supposed to shoot it. All the comedy
- 21:54Speaker 1: in that up front to tell you what the show
- 21:57Speaker 1: was about, how the show open. A lot of that
- 21:59Speaker 1: stuff was wrot that the layers meet. No, it wasn't easy. Absolutely. Now, Hi,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I'm fall from progressive. Being a baseball fanetic like me
- 22:08Speaker 1: can be stressful. It's not all sports points and touchdowns,
- 22:11Speaker 1: so Progressive is going to help you take your mind
- 22:12Speaker 1: off your team for a moment. Instead of thinking about
- 22:15Speaker 1: how they missed that gold points score, think about the
- 22:17Speaker 1: name your price toool from Progressive letting you choose coverage
- 22:20Speaker 1: options based on your budget, unlike your team that missed
- 22:22Speaker 1: the end zone net area. Well, anyway, help this distraction
- 22:26Speaker 1: about Progressives Name your Price Toool is helpful. It sure
- 22:28Speaker 1: kept me from thinking about all those penalty balls sports
- 22:31Speaker 1: Progressive Casualty in Turns Company Atily Prison Cover Comtial in
- 22:33Speaker 1: the diviceing law. Hi everyone, I'll roker here as a
- 22:36Speaker 1: guy with his own catchphrase. I appreciate that Smokey's only
- 22:39Speaker 1: said only you can prevent wildfires, but I'm filling in
- 22:43Speaker 1: because there's a lot more to report, like when they're
- 22:46Speaker 1: parched or windy conditions out there. You've gotta be extra
- 22:49Speaker 1: careful with things like burning yard waves. After all, wildfires
- 22:54Speaker 1: can start anywhere, even in your neck of the woods.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Go to Smokey Bear dot com to learn more about
- 22:59Speaker 1: wild fire prevention brought to you by the U. S.

- 23:05Speaker 1: grows in the forest trees? Sure you know what else
- 23:09Speaker 1: grows in the forest. Our imagination, our sense of wonder,
- 23:13Speaker 1: and our family bonds grow too, because when we disconnect
- 23:16Speaker 1: from this and connect with this, we reconnect with each other.
- 23:24Speaker 1: The forest is closer than you think. Find a forest
- 23:27Speaker 1: near you and start exploring. I discover the Forest dot Org,
- 23:30Speaker 1: brought to you by the United States Forest Service and
- 23:33Speaker 1: the AD Council. Now now your your your search to
- 23:36Speaker 1: comedy stardom. Like I said, I talked about when you
- 23:39Speaker 1: first when your series was first picked up on Fox
- 23:41Speaker 1: at sixteen, and you recently did a Netflix first special
- 23:45Speaker 1: and you know COVID came out, so that cut down
- 23:47Speaker 1: you couldn't tour taking advantage of all that great notoride.
- 23:52Speaker 1: We know stand up comedians, we make our money live.
- 23:55Speaker 1: And so now you have this amazing sitcom on BT
- 23:58Speaker 1: Plus called Miss Pat Or What's What's what? We're gonna see?
- 24:01Speaker 1: You comedy clubs out of you gonna see three thousand
- 24:04Speaker 1: and Sea There's or We're gonna see Uh, We're gonna
- 24:06Speaker 1: see a United Center or you want to see what
- 24:09Speaker 1: are we gonna see? How to Miss Paller. You're gonna
- 24:11Speaker 1: come back and do the stay farm. You know, Areada
- 24:13Speaker 1: by yourself. What we're gonna do here in Atlanta, George,
- 24:16Speaker 1: what we're gonna do, Miss pat I'm just putting you
- 24:17Speaker 1: on the spot, young lady. Come on now, well, I
- 24:20Speaker 1: hope you know I'm open for theaters and stuff like that.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm hoping. Come on now, you're way too confident be
- 24:27Speaker 1: sitting up in hoping. Don't be humbled on this show.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Your talent doesn't allow you to be humble. Come on,
- 24:32Speaker 1: you're in your face, you're special. Well, I mean, I'm
- 24:36Speaker 1: looking forward to moving into theaters. I'm doing really well
- 24:39Speaker 1: in clubs right now. I'm looking I'm looking forward. You know.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I like the intimates of the club. But I understand
- 24:46Speaker 1: that my career is growing a lot that I'm not
- 24:48Speaker 1: gonna be I'm not gonna work myself to death doing
- 24:50Speaker 1: nine of the shows because I'm I'm forty nine years old.
- 24:53Speaker 1: So I mean, I'm looking forward to. I'm looking forward
- 24:56Speaker 1: to whatever. You know, the career brains I love people
- 25:00Speaker 1: love doing stand up. Stand up is number one for
- 25:03Speaker 1: me because it's the only thing that I can't control.
- 25:05Speaker 1: You know. As far as a TV show, they say
- 25:08Speaker 1: to Misspatched, show will be T Plus and Fox on
- 25:11Speaker 1: that show. So I work for them, you know the
- 25:15Speaker 1: part about it. My name is on it, but in
- 25:16Speaker 1: the end is their show. They boy, So I focus
- 25:19Speaker 1: on what I can't control, which is my stand up.
- 25:22Speaker 1: So you will be saying, people can know that you'll
- 25:25Speaker 1: be seeing a lot more on my stand up because
- 25:28Speaker 1: that's where I grind the hardest. That. Now, let's let's
- 25:31Speaker 1: talk about you know, you know, because you know, you
- 25:34Speaker 1: can get popular a lot of ways nowadays through social media,
- 25:37Speaker 1: through YouTube channel. Now what impacted popularity did the Netflix
- 25:43Speaker 1: special have on your career? Netflix helped me out a lot.
- 25:47Speaker 1: And honestly, they they're really nice over there. I've worked
- 25:50Speaker 1: with them a lot. Uh they're getting ready to shoot
- 25:53Speaker 1: my first special. When when when we're ready? But um,
- 25:58Speaker 1: that doing that that quarter hour helped out a lot.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Also doing the cabin on with Bert christcher on that
- 26:05Speaker 1: all that stuff, everything to me is a piece of
- 26:08Speaker 1: the puzzle to put my career into place. So those
- 26:11Speaker 1: little pieces that those chips that Netflix hit me, it
- 26:14Speaker 1: was just another piece. This show that BT plus hit me,
- 26:17Speaker 1: it's another piece. All of it just a poser to
- 26:20Speaker 1: me and we're putting it together now. Okay, Now, now
- 26:23Speaker 1: we've got bet plus to show. It's premiered in August.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Have you been able to start feel a shift of
- 26:29Speaker 1: like people like me getting excited about you? People in
- 26:32Speaker 1: the street, going in the grocery shore now we're wearing
- 26:34Speaker 1: masks and someplace you're not wearing mad How is that
- 26:36Speaker 1: affecting you? Are you? Are you feeling? Are you feelings?
- 26:40Speaker 1: You know? You know you kinda got that that that
- 26:43Speaker 1: that sentister smile. You know, I don't know if you're happy.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I don't know if you're ready to punch me into
- 26:47Speaker 1: the forehead. Where are you at with your life? Are
- 26:50Speaker 1: you happy with with what's happening? Though you're happy with
- 26:54Speaker 1: the popularity this new series is bringing into your life,
- 26:56Speaker 1: talk to us about that. I mean, I'm very happy
- 27:00Speaker 1: of the show, just for me here last week. So
- 27:02Speaker 1: I haven't been I'm I'm on a set right now.
- 27:05Speaker 1: You're behind me. I'm in a trail. I'm shooting another pilot.
- 27:08Speaker 1: So I haven't been outside with people like, oh my god,
- 27:10Speaker 1: that's miss Pat. So I've been to the airport. I
- 27:13Speaker 1: won't know until next week. So I mean I'm getting
- 27:16Speaker 1: I'm getting noticed a lot more now. But you know,
- 27:19Speaker 1: I puple been places people don't expect me. Papa, pay
- 27:22Speaker 1: my my my bagest A line is right there, or
- 27:24Speaker 1: Hill Street in Alatta, and I'm walking about, what the
- 27:27Speaker 1: heck are you doing here? I'm going to get my
- 27:28Speaker 1: wings put on like you get your week put on.
- 27:32Speaker 1: So um, nothing has really changed. Like everybody's like, what
- 27:37Speaker 1: do it feel like? It feels like I need to
- 27:39Speaker 1: go to work. That's why. That's why I'm here. I'm
- 27:41Speaker 1: working so I don't really get caught up in the
- 27:43Speaker 1: fame and all of that stuff. And I don't need
- 27:45Speaker 1: you to open the dope for me, and I drive
- 27:47Speaker 1: myself right now. Uh, It's just worked for me, and
- 27:51Speaker 1: I'm happy to see that people are starting to notice
- 27:54Speaker 1: how hard I want to get where I'm at. So
- 27:57Speaker 1: that's what makes me happy. Just people like, my god,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I didn't know you was there. So this show was
- 28:02Speaker 1: really good. It took five years for this show to
- 28:04Speaker 1: get on TV. What the three networks, three writers on
- 28:07Speaker 1: a lot of t years. Well that that that's the
- 28:11Speaker 1: part that I like about you, you know, because of
- 28:13Speaker 1: the fact that a lot of people see Hollywood, they
- 28:16Speaker 1: see this sitcoming there. If I don't bring that up
- 28:18Speaker 1: in my intro and we're talking honestly about it. People say, oh,
- 28:21Speaker 1: she went it just happened. No, sixteen, she thought it
- 28:24Speaker 1: was gonna happen. So that was a high for her
- 28:27Speaker 1: Fox and then and then twenty and theirteen Hulu that
- 28:31Speaker 1: was another high for her. When you went to b
- 28:33Speaker 1: T plus, what was your emotion at that point? Were
- 28:36Speaker 1: you like, whatever, you know, I I see it when
- 28:39Speaker 1: I see it. And because it went to some more
- 28:41Speaker 1: advanced steps that made you feel it was going to happen,
- 28:44Speaker 1: where were you at? And then like I said, I'm
- 28:46Speaker 1: over here, you know, just Googland and just gushing about
- 28:50Speaker 1: how brilliant you are and how just I'm in love
- 28:52Speaker 1: with miss pat and the show on b T plus?
- 28:56Speaker 1: Where were you at each one of those steps in
- 28:57Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, twin and the teen and then it when
- 29:03Speaker 1: when I got there holding deal and we found a writer,
- 29:06Speaker 1: I was happy. I was, oh my god, I'm finally
- 29:08Speaker 1: gonna get a show. And things didn't work out, so
- 29:10Speaker 1: we switched the writer, and then we went to another writer.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Things didn't work out again, so I started to lose
- 29:15Speaker 1: comfort there and then I said, you know what, if
- 29:17Speaker 1: you're gonna happen, it's gonna happen. I'm so happy. I
- 29:20Speaker 1: had Lee Daniel there to say look, and my friend
- 29:23Speaker 1: John Ratler wanted the producer to helped found me. He
- 29:26Speaker 1: was like, it's done. I happened sometime when he's great,
- 29:29Speaker 1: you just take a longer time. I never get I wanted.
- 29:32Speaker 1: The producer named Francie told me that, so I said, okay,
- 29:35Speaker 1: that's fine, and uh. We ended up getting the writer
- 29:38Speaker 1: and then we shot. We shoot the pilot and I
- 29:41Speaker 1: kept telling everybody they're not gonna pick it up. My
- 29:43Speaker 1: spirit told me Hulu was not gonna pick it up.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Hulu dropped it and I was like, okay, Hulu, when
- 29:49Speaker 1: we're going from here. Day was like, I will find
- 29:51Speaker 1: you home. When BT plus popped up, my first thing was, well,
- 29:55Speaker 1: what that was bt plum? I never have plus And
- 30:00Speaker 1: it was like he was picked it up and then
- 30:03Speaker 1: they're gonna give your guys ten up. So I was like,
- 30:05Speaker 1: what is that. They was like they just started a
- 30:07Speaker 1: new streaming service and it's at the time it was
- 30:10Speaker 1: like maybe a year old, and looking up they only
- 30:14Speaker 1: got a million subscribers. You kind of you know, it's
- 30:18Speaker 1: a kind of shift shift in your happen He's like, wow,
- 30:21Speaker 1: we went from Hulu to hear and so I had
- 30:23Speaker 1: to tell the co creator. I said, let me tell
- 30:24Speaker 1: you something about life. I've learned you have to learn
- 30:27Speaker 1: to mess with people who mess with you. So just
- 30:29Speaker 1: because you want to be all that with all the
- 30:31Speaker 1: big fish, maybe this is what we're supposed to be.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And so I remember when I got to meet them
- 30:36Speaker 1: and things started to get rolling, and I just told him,
- 30:38Speaker 1: I said, I think that this show is gonna be
- 30:41Speaker 1: your Handmaids Tells like it was to Hulu, because the
- 30:44Speaker 1: handmade put Hulu. W That's the only reason why I
- 30:47Speaker 1: ever subscrive to it. I said, I said, if you,
- 30:49Speaker 1: if you allow us to do what we wanna do
- 30:52Speaker 1: and support us, we I think we can be your
- 30:55Speaker 1: Handmaids Tell. And it lunched and people went crazy. Go see,
- 31:00Speaker 1: I've been waiting on that. So you see that's all.
- 31:02Speaker 1: So you have to know something. People went crazy like
- 31:05Speaker 1: me going crazy from ms Pat She's a star, uh Patricia,
- 31:10Speaker 1: weis a k Miss Pat bt plus subscribe to it
- 31:14Speaker 1: the Miss Pat Show. Not only is she brilliant, but
- 31:17Speaker 1: the cast, Like I said, I just Tammy Roman. If
- 31:20Speaker 1: you just know as a reality star. You watched this show,
- 31:23Speaker 1: you're gonna know as a comedy star. The other cast
- 31:25Speaker 1: members are fantastic. The writing is great, but more important,
- 31:29Speaker 1: it's original. I told my staff today, I said, I
- 31:31Speaker 1: felt like I was watching the modern day version of
- 31:33Speaker 1: Safon and Son from a stylistic, from an organic, from
- 31:37Speaker 1: original point of view, because you're breaking so many walls
- 31:40Speaker 1: down and you're doing it with grace, You're doing it
- 31:42Speaker 1: with elegance. You may not have wanted to be a
- 31:44Speaker 1: stand up comedian, but you're a queen of comedy now,
- 31:47Speaker 1: young lady. So you keep winning over. I'm gonna try.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna try because stop that, stop that you are
- 31:54Speaker 1: doing it. Don't do it. I'm trying. You are a beast.
- 31:56Speaker 1: You are a beauty queen of comedy. Okay, what thank you?
- 32:00Speaker 1: Thank you? Thank you hard. I mean, all I can
- 32:03Speaker 1: do is put it out there is the public will
- 32:06Speaker 1: let you know what they like it. The public is
