- 0:38Speaker 1: join ya, join me in doing me. Honey. You gotta
- 1:01Speaker 1: turn you gotta turn the turnow, got to turn them
- 1:44Speaker 1: out to turn the water the water go. Come come
- 1:58Speaker 1: on your back. Uh huh, I shall will oh, good morning, everybody.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You're listening to the voice, come on dig me now.
- 2:07Speaker 1: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Man,
- 2:12Speaker 1: If if I had time enough to tell the whole trip,
- 2:16Speaker 1: the whole journey, and y'all would be sitting up in
- 2:19Speaker 1: there going okay to Steve, are we gonna play the
- 2:21Speaker 1: show this week? But man, it's been a lot of
- 2:25Speaker 1: amazing things has happened to me over the years, and
- 2:32Speaker 1: not all of them good. It's been some amazingly bad
- 2:36Speaker 1: things that have happened too. But I just come on
- 2:40Speaker 1: in the morning as a reminder to everybody of the
- 2:44Speaker 1: actual goodness of God, that you know, man, that these
- 2:47Speaker 1: mistakes that you're making, that these setbacks that you keep having,
- 2:53Speaker 1: that these falls that keep occurring in your life, that
- 2:57Speaker 1: they all are leading you somewhere. If you just don't
- 3:00Speaker 1: ever give up. That's the key. You can never ever
- 3:04Speaker 1: give up because you don't know how the trip has
- 3:09Speaker 1: been laid out for you. You know, if somebody had
- 3:12Speaker 1: told me years ago when I had the dream of
- 3:16Speaker 1: being on TV and then I thought about being a
- 3:20Speaker 1: one of one of the best comedians I could be,
- 3:23Speaker 1: you know, when I when I started, somebody had told
- 3:26Speaker 1: me everything that was gonna have to happen in order
- 3:30Speaker 1: for me to get there, I would have changed it.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I would have I would have said, Okay, well I
- 3:37Speaker 1: ain't gonna be that. How about this? See and no
- 3:41Speaker 1: one can know all of the events of their life
- 3:44Speaker 1: ahead of time. You know, it'd be so nice, wouldn't it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: You know, to prepare for it, see it coming, be
- 3:51Speaker 1: aware of the haters, always knowing when the backstabbing moment
- 3:56Speaker 1: is coming in your life, always knowing when you're gonna
- 3:59Speaker 1: get blindsided by the enemy. We are really great to
- 4:02Speaker 1: know that, wouldn't it. Well, that's not how it works.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So since no one knows exactly the challenges and the
- 4:12Speaker 1: pitfalls and the detools that's going to be set them.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It's it's it's imperative that you just don't give up
- 4:21Speaker 1: because see, knowing these things, we as human beings by nature,
- 4:28Speaker 1: would choose another route. But it ain't the route God
- 4:31Speaker 1: God for you, though, See the route God God for you.
- 4:35Speaker 1: If you if you're trying to do the right thing,
- 4:38Speaker 1: if you're doing the best you can, if you ain't
- 4:41Speaker 1: out here just intentionally just messing over, folks. If you
- 4:45Speaker 1: use in faith and that's the belief in things that
- 4:48Speaker 1: you cannot see, If you have something on the inside
- 4:51Speaker 1: of you to keep saying there's got to be more
- 4:53Speaker 1: to life than that, then that's that's you. You, my friend,
- 4:58Speaker 1: have a great chance here. And if you've ever had
- 5:01Speaker 1: that feeling then gave up on it, just get it back,
- 5:04Speaker 1: just ask for it back, Just say, hey man, I'm
- 5:07Speaker 1: getting back to the way I used to be because
- 5:10Speaker 1: there's a change that's available in your life. But you
- 5:14Speaker 1: gotta take it. You gotta take a shot at it. Folks.
- 5:17Speaker 1: There's a chance for you to get it right, but
- 5:20Speaker 1: you gotta take a shot at it. Folks. There's a
- 5:22Speaker 1: chance for you to turn this whole thing around with
- 5:25Speaker 1: God's help, but you gotta take a shot at it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You see, this decision is yours. The decision to lay
- 5:33Speaker 1: down and give up, that's yours. It ain't. It just
- 5:35Speaker 1: got too hard for me, life too much, man, life
- 5:38Speaker 1: hard and too much for everybody. What I gotta get
- 5:42Speaker 1: you to See, my father used to always tell me,
- 5:44Speaker 1: He says, son, best lessons in life to burn your
- 5:47Speaker 1: value and learn the most is a balt lesson. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: didn't quite understand that being young, but I showed God
- 5:54Speaker 1: it Now ain't no lesson like a bout lesson, the
- 5:57Speaker 1: one you pay for the old. Those are the ones
- 6:00Speaker 1: that hold to you, that stick to you, that that
- 6:03Speaker 1: that started turning you into who you're gonna be. Those
- 6:06Speaker 1: are the character builders. See, you got to be forged
- 6:11Speaker 1: to get to where you want to go in life.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So that's what the challenges and missteps is for. That's
- 6:16Speaker 1: what the failing is about. Now, I know you don't
- 6:18Speaker 1: like it. I didn't. I know you're not comfortable with
- 6:21Speaker 1: I wouldn't. I know you wish it was over sooner
- 6:24Speaker 1: than later. I always do. I always wanted to be
- 6:28Speaker 1: over sooner than later, because the later manager seems like
- 6:32Speaker 1: it's so much I gotta go through. But let me
- 6:35Speaker 1: tell you something, Man, if you can, if you can
- 6:38Speaker 1: forge your way through it and understand that you are
- 6:42Speaker 1: forged in life, I don't know. I was on TBN
- 6:46Speaker 1: one time when I was doing one of my motivational speeches,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and I began to wonder about this experience I had.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It Ford Motor Company and my last job after the
- 6:58Speaker 1: auto industry started going down, my last job was in
- 7:01Speaker 1: the fountry and my job was to stand at the
- 7:06Speaker 1: end almost where the engines first come out of the furnace. See,
- 7:11Speaker 1: the engines are poured into a mold. It's hot, melted
- 7:15Speaker 1: down metal whatever they call it, lava or whatever. They
- 7:18Speaker 1: poured into a mole and it goes into this furnace
- 7:22Speaker 1: that's extremely hot. And my job was after the heat
- 7:27Speaker 1: was applied to the engine block, it would come through
- 7:32Speaker 1: and it would go through a hardening stage. But the
- 7:34Speaker 1: way it was hardening, they would cool it. Suddenly they
- 7:37Speaker 1: would flush it with water. It was just blast water
- 7:40Speaker 1: on it. But the fire and the high temperature is
- 7:44Speaker 1: what made the engine block solidify. It's because it's gotta
- 7:49Speaker 1: get real hot, get melted down first. Then it's got
- 7:53Speaker 1: to get poured into a mole. Then it's gotta be pressure,
- 7:57Speaker 1: hit with water and all of this, and then and
- 8:00Speaker 1: it's real hot. Now it's still hot even though its
- 8:03Speaker 1: water been shutter. But when it comes out the end
- 8:05Speaker 1: of the side, there's a lot of flashing in it.
- 8:08Speaker 1: And flashing is a metal from that didn't dripped through
- 8:10Speaker 1: the cast molding on it, just like flecks of extra
- 8:14Speaker 1: pieces of metal. My job was to hit this engine
- 8:19Speaker 1: block in the front, which is huge, heavy rubber mallet,
- 8:24Speaker 1: knock all the flashing off the front, and when it
- 8:27Speaker 1: came around back to bam, hit it real hard again
- 8:31Speaker 1: on the backside. And that became the core of what
- 8:36Speaker 1: the car is. A car without a great engine is nothing.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It's just a pretty looking vehicle over there. But if
- 8:43Speaker 1: it can't do what it was made to do because
- 8:45Speaker 1: the engine block then cracked. So you can have a
- 8:48Speaker 1: car look real good, but if it freezes an engine
- 8:50Speaker 1: block crack your car, you can it's over man. You
- 8:53Speaker 1: gotta get a new block. The block is the core.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But in order for you for the car to do
- 8:58Speaker 1: what it's got to do, it's gotta have a strong
- 9:00Speaker 1: engine in it. In order for the engine to be strong,
- 9:03Speaker 1: it's got to be forged and Steell come through fire,
- 9:06Speaker 1: get poured in a mole, cooled off, heated, knocked around,
- 9:11Speaker 1: beat on the front end, beat on the back end,
- 9:13Speaker 1: in order for it to be what it's gonna be.
- 9:15Speaker 1: The moral of the story, folks, is you got to
- 9:18Speaker 1: get forged in fire to be what you gonna be.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You got to get beat up, you got to get
- 9:24Speaker 1: pressure washed, you got to have heat on you, you
- 9:27Speaker 1: gotta get melted down, you gotta get poured into a mole.
- 9:31Speaker 1: That's how you become who you are. So the tough
- 9:34Speaker 1: things that you're going through, the difficult challenges and the setbacks.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I know a brother who went to prison, man, And
- 9:41Speaker 1: the whole reason he ended up going to prison because
- 9:43Speaker 1: he was looking out the loot window, looking out in
- 9:45Speaker 1: the yard at him working out. And then the next
- 9:48Speaker 1: thing you know, man, this brother decided that he was
- 9:50Speaker 1: gonna go out there and work out. Well, guess what,
- 9:53Speaker 1: he's one of the top trainers in country today. You're listening,
- 10:01Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, have your attention, please, this is Steve Harvey.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I'm trying to get your attention because it didn't started.
- 10:10Speaker 1: The morning show is own h I ain't gonna tell
- 10:13Speaker 1: you what station it is. Because you hear my voice,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you own the station you need to be on. Now.
- 10:19Speaker 1: They had these things like station ID and all like that,
- 10:21Speaker 1: but if you listening to me, you already owned the station.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I'm on too minute to go around the room announcing,
- 10:29Speaker 1: But all of us great stations, and you greater for listening. Yes,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Martin Shirley, Good morning Steve. Some caller, Good morning Steve.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Crew cutting up doing your morning their food, big dog
- 10:45Speaker 1: in the building, got your everbody in la Yeah, yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 1: check and make sure Junior has this coffee. I was
- 10:53Speaker 1: just checking because Monica was supposed to put the cream
- 10:56Speaker 1: and sugar in their Steve. I didn't know the relationship
- 10:59Speaker 1: was that way what they just got into a major
- 11:02Speaker 1: argument about creating I was listening. I didn't know that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I thought they had more of a all you know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: co worker existed. This sound like something would like a
- 11:11Speaker 1: relationship Tennis. Yeah, the hell is your coffee yet? Exactly
- 11:17Speaker 1: your clothes? He shut the room down with that. We're
- 11:19Speaker 1: working on it, all right, work it, But I'm not
- 11:23Speaker 1: playing about my coffee though every morning it's the same thing.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But who you're talking to like that? Yeah? Wait, get
- 11:35Speaker 1: it though? She be over there. Just grinny. You better
- 11:38Speaker 1: take care of you, man. Yeah, she ain't got a problem.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Come getting nail money and stay done. And you know
- 11:45Speaker 1: she is about her now. You know, I've never seen
- 11:49Speaker 1: all these years i've known Monica, missip Monica, she never
- 11:52Speaker 1: came in here to day without them done. And she
- 11:55Speaker 1: she alternates, she'll go to the salon and she does
- 11:58Speaker 1: them herself. Yeah, she's good. She can doing herself. I
- 12:00Speaker 1: can't do. Really, I can't get down. She's staying in
- 12:03Speaker 1: the line. Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying. She looks
- 12:08Speaker 1: like I did. I ain't don't draw outside the line. Yeah,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but it's something with those. I don't know what it is,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but it's something. Cough. You gotta know you're good. I'm
- 12:26Speaker 1: good man, I'm here. What we're doing? Well, I show
- 12:31Speaker 1: I did I put something in the microwave? I cooked?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Sup Surely putting something in the microwave to heat it
- 12:39Speaker 1: is not cooking. It's in the kitchen, thank you. It's
- 12:43Speaker 1: here in the studio in a machine that heats stuff up.
- 12:46Speaker 1: As far as I'm concerned cooking at in my world,
- 12:50Speaker 1: that's cooking, thank you, all right. Thirty two after we'll
- 13:01Speaker 1: be back with more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You're listening to show, all right? So, um Jay, you
- 13:10Speaker 1: when Steve came up? What is this all about? This segment?
- 13:13Speaker 1: No better than there's certain things over the holidays when
- 13:16Speaker 1: the holidays happened. You can pretty much bet money that
- 13:20Speaker 1: some of these things are going to happen. Is that right, Steve?
- 13:25Speaker 1: I mean somebody's house. It's somebody's house, all right. Might
- 13:29Speaker 1: not happen at your house? One of these, I promise you,
- 13:33Speaker 1: one of these. It's gonna happen over the holiday at
- 13:37Speaker 1: your house. Okay, let's hear it. Come on, I'm ready

- 13:55Speaker 1: we gotta go get somebody out of Jake. Yeah, that's yeah.

- 16:21Speaker 1: dressed like they going to a qualms apart. Yeah, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: we'll get man, we don't understand. Ain't you hot? Now?
- 16:32Speaker 1: He got attitude? Yeah? Somebody got show up at your
- 16:37Speaker 1: house that's been eating meat their whole life, not that vegan.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, disgusted with all the dishes. Yeah yeah, me yes,
- 16:49Speaker 1: turkey in the greens because half of we stopped putting park.
- 16:55Speaker 1: We upgraded that Jett happened. Come on, some of the
- 17:04Speaker 1: women gonna have to circle around because he didn't bought
- 17:08Speaker 1: the white girl over. Oh, and they all gonna have
- 17:12Speaker 1: to come to the conclusion, is frying. Yeah you might
- 17:22Speaker 1: be white, she might be white. She fine. And when
- 17:26Speaker 1: you get all that rump fundam a fake m a
- 17:30Speaker 1: fake twit my side. She get it what you say, Yeah,
- 17:45Speaker 1: that ain't real. You know that ain't real white? She finds.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I guess I'll take a guess it might not happening.
- 18:00Speaker 1: All those things that's gonna happen, It's gonna happen somebody
- 18:05Speaker 1: through And he's thinking right now, I'll tell you something,
- 18:13Speaker 1: milk gonna happen. What somebody Christmas tree gonna catch on
- 18:18Speaker 1: fire to change these lights all on the tree always
- 18:36Speaker 1: herman hair. Somebody somebody gonna put the wrong gift in
- 18:42Speaker 1: the wrong box. You did, man, you ever wrapped up something?
- 18:53Speaker 1: My drunk as uncle did this. He wrapped up his
- 18:57Speaker 1: shirt and gave it to my daddy. And when my
- 19:02Speaker 1: daddy opened the box, my daddy said, oh man, this night,
- 19:06Speaker 1: Oh hell no, hold on, I didn't get you the
- 19:11Speaker 1: wrong sh that's must shirt my daddy said when you
- 19:17Speaker 1: gave it to me. Now it's gonna go down like

- 19:44Speaker 1: don't take these teeth out there like that americ. Okay.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Things that will definitely happen over the holiday. Somebody gonna
- 19:56Speaker 1: knock the dressing on the floor. Hell gonna. You're listening
- 20:02Speaker 1: to show. It's time to run that frank back, trimper casket,
- 20:10Speaker 1: trimper cast. Look around the room. When it's well, I
- 20:15Speaker 1: need confirmation from somebody to triple cast, run that cat,
- 20:21Speaker 1: triple casts mortuary. Help you are you cap? How you doing?
- 20:28Speaker 1: My name is Brandon Man, Brandon Giles. Um. I'm calling.
- 20:34Speaker 1: We've got somebody that has passed actually three people passed away.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I thank you for that, man. It was kind of expected,
- 20:46Speaker 1: so you know, it wasn't something that caught us off guard.
- 20:49Speaker 1: But you know, but all in all, you know, we're
- 20:51Speaker 1: still grieving about losing our loved ones. But but I
- 20:55Speaker 1: wanted to give you all a call. We're trying to
- 20:57Speaker 1: um pick a particular funeral home on who we want
- 21:00Speaker 1: to take care of the services? Yes, yes, sir, yes, sir, okay,
- 21:06Speaker 1: we can definitely help you with that. And uh, once again,
- 21:11Speaker 1: I just want to to you know, just let you
- 21:12Speaker 1: know that we can pretty much do the whole game
- 21:16Speaker 1: that we can make sure that you're need to take
- 21:18Speaker 1: them from you know, from from now on. Um, we're
- 21:22Speaker 1: here for you showing to get that out. What is
- 21:25Speaker 1: your main need? You said three people? Sir? Yes, yes, yes,
- 21:32Speaker 1: I wanted to bring attention to you. Do you guys
- 21:35Speaker 1: customize casks? Yes, we do, goal plating, uh, engraving. We
- 21:41Speaker 1: even have a new thing where we can put the
- 21:44Speaker 1: picture of the person on the outside like a semigloss coating.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We have a couple of ours. Yeah, I don't I
- 21:51Speaker 1: don't need that all. No goal or nothing like that. Listen, listen,
- 21:54Speaker 1: what I want to do. Is it any way that
- 21:57Speaker 1: you could maybe customize a asket that can accommodate three people? Um?
- 22:04Speaker 1: Uh yes, like we we can. We can customize each
- 22:08Speaker 1: individual casket for each individual. No, no, no, no, Calvin,
- 22:14Speaker 1: I didn't want to ask. What I'm saying is if
- 22:16Speaker 1: I want to like like I like I said, deep,
- 22:18Speaker 1: my could they was all close? You know, I don't
- 22:21Speaker 1: have a problem with all three of them being in
- 22:23Speaker 1: the same casket. I get you, um uh to you know,
- 22:30Speaker 1: to my knowledge is as far as I've been in
- 22:31Speaker 1: this business, I've never uh, I'm not really sure we
- 22:36Speaker 1: can actually do that. I mean, I mean, I mean,
- 22:39Speaker 1: but what's the problem if we can get them all
- 22:40Speaker 1: in there and well serve I mean, I think that's
- 22:44Speaker 1: a I don't even think if for one, it's legal
- 22:48Speaker 1: in this state or any state, three people in one casket,
- 22:52Speaker 1: um and ethics wise, I uh, that's not really something
- 22:57Speaker 1: that how can I say that we actually you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but if you customizing a casket, Calvin, then you ought
- 23:04Speaker 1: to be able to put as many people in there,
- 23:06Speaker 1: if you make it deep enough and wide enough. I
- 23:09Speaker 1: ought to be able to get three people in there, right. Well,
- 23:12Speaker 1: the customization is is the outer side of the casket
- 23:17Speaker 1: and maybe you know, some people even put TV screens
- 23:21Speaker 1: on the inside or some of their is they're they're
- 23:23Speaker 1: loved ones, memorable mementos. We customize it for that, you know. Colorwise,
- 23:31Speaker 1: So what about when when is a person real big
- 23:34Speaker 1: h you know, a heavy said person. You know, you
- 23:37Speaker 1: got to have a casket that can accommodate them, right, yes,
- 23:40Speaker 1: But okay, so so you ought to be able to
- 23:42Speaker 1: put you ought to be able to put three people
- 23:44Speaker 1: in one casket if they can fit, if you put
- 23:48Speaker 1: two one way in one the other other way, then
- 23:50Speaker 1: you ought to be able to have all three of
- 23:52Speaker 1: them in there at one time. Um, is there anybody
- 23:55Speaker 1: else around you and your family that can help talk

- 47:42Speaker 1: If you need advice on relationships, on dating, on work,
- 47:46Speaker 1: on sex, on parenting, and more, please submit your Strawberry
- 47:50Speaker 1: letter to Steve Harvey FM dot com and click submit
- 47:55Speaker 1: Strawberry Letter. Okay, buck up, hold on tight. We gotta
- 48:00Speaker 1: for ye hiberties the Strawberry Letter. We could be reading yours,
- 48:03Speaker 1: just like we're reading this one subject. You can't hide
- 48:06Speaker 1: a beautiful body. Dear Stephen Shirley, i am a thirty
- 48:11Speaker 1: year old single woman without any children, and I've been
- 48:14Speaker 1: dating a forty one year old man that has three
- 48:17Speaker 1: young daughters. We've been together for five months, and all
- 48:21Speaker 1: of a sudden, he does not approve of how I dress.
- 48:24Speaker 1: He told me that I dress as if I want
- 48:27Speaker 1: attention from other men, and not like a wholesome woman.
- 48:31Speaker 1: I am a full time legal assistant at a popular
- 48:34Speaker 1: law firm, and I take law classes at night. At work,
- 48:39Speaker 1: I'm in heels and pencil skirts, and on the weekend,
- 48:42Speaker 1: I dress for whatever the occasion is, and it's my
- 48:45Speaker 1: own personal style. I have a beautiful curvy body, and
- 48:50Speaker 1: at my age, I don't see the problem with me
- 48:53Speaker 1: wearing a top that shows a little stomach or a
- 48:55Speaker 1: dress that shows off my curves. He didn't have a
- 48:58Speaker 1: problem with how I dress when he met me, but
- 49:01Speaker 1: now he has been talking about it NonStop. I recently
- 49:05Speaker 1: met his daughters and I was dressed appropriately in jeans
- 49:09Speaker 1: and a sweatshirt. He still said that I need to
- 49:11Speaker 1: do a better I need to do better at presenting
- 49:15Speaker 1: myself in a more wholesome manner when he met. When
- 49:19Speaker 1: he and I met, it was not wholesome, So why
- 49:21Speaker 1: does he want me to seem wholesome now? I never
- 49:24Speaker 1: intended to be a role model for his children. He
- 49:27Speaker 1: says he wants me to be more like his friend's wife.
- 49:30Speaker 1: And that's all fine and good. If I were an older,
- 49:33Speaker 1: stay at home mom, but I'm not. Why is he
- 49:37Speaker 1: bringing this up now and trying to change me. I'm
- 49:39Speaker 1: at the point where I want to settle down and
- 49:42Speaker 1: he could be the one, but obviously I'm not the
- 49:44Speaker 1: woman he really wants. Could this be a deal breaker?
- 49:47Speaker 1: Please advise? Well, you know what, It depends on how
- 49:50Speaker 1: you look at it. It could be a deal breaker
- 49:52Speaker 1: if he's like this controlling dude you know that wants
- 49:56Speaker 1: to tell you how to dress, and you know, compare
- 49:58Speaker 1: you to other women, and like he's doing in this
- 50:01Speaker 1: letter all of that. It could be that, or it
- 50:04Speaker 1: could be he's considering you for a little more serious
- 50:08Speaker 1: role in his life, because I don't understand why he
- 50:13Speaker 1: would even be concerned about how you're dressing if you're
- 50:16Speaker 1: not dressing like, you know, a stripper or something in
- 50:19Speaker 1: front of his friends and daughters. Dressing for him in
- 50:22Speaker 1: private is one thing, but there is something to be
- 50:24Speaker 1: said about appropriate dress in front of others, especially young
- 50:27Speaker 1: impressionable girls. I'll give him that. Although you said you
- 50:30Speaker 1: were dressed properly when you met his daughters in jeans
- 50:33Speaker 1: and a sweatshirt, you didn't say that your tummy was out.
- 50:35Speaker 1: You didn't say any of that. I mean, this guy
- 50:37Speaker 1: does sound controlling, he does sound bossy after only five
- 50:40Speaker 1: months in. And remember what he's doing now, how he's
- 50:44Speaker 1: talking to you. Now, you guys haven't even made the
- 50:46Speaker 1: six month mark. That's how it's going to be in
- 50:49Speaker 1: a relationship and into a marriage. So you're gonna have
- 50:52Speaker 1: to decide if that's what you want. I mean, you
- 50:55Speaker 1: have your own personal style, and you said you don't
- 50:57Speaker 1: see anything wrong. I mean that's what's fashionable. Top tops
- 51:00Speaker 1: are fashionable, Uh, you know, as long as you're surely
- 51:04Speaker 1: had on one in the in the d at all
- 51:12Speaker 1: at all. I mean, you could do things tastefully. But
- 51:17Speaker 1: we were at the beach. Can we just say that, Steve,
- 51:19Speaker 1: we were. We were. It was a swim party and everything.
- 51:22Speaker 1: We weren't that no beach. We was on the inside
- 51:24Speaker 1: in the auditorium. But I saw you. I don't know
- 51:27Speaker 1: where you came from from the beach. Didn't look like
- 51:31Speaker 1: bel didn't have on that anyway, back to the letter,
- 51:38Speaker 1: you can't hide a beautiful body as the subject. So
- 51:41Speaker 1: you know, even though you never intended to be a
- 51:44Speaker 1: role model for his children, sometimes we're thrust in those positions.
- 51:47Speaker 1: You know, you're dating this guy, and he does have daughters,
- 51:49Speaker 1: so you have to consider that when you are around them,
- 51:52Speaker 1: you're you're You're not there um their mom or anything,
- 51:55Speaker 1: but they are. If you're around their dad, they are
- 51:58Speaker 1: looking to you for certain things. So you know, I'm
- 52:00Speaker 1: not telling you to cover up and dress like a
- 52:03Speaker 1: nun from heagetor or anything like that, but be mindful,
- 52:06Speaker 1: especially around the daughters, of how you're presenting yourself. You know,
- 52:12Speaker 1: just do that for their sake. Okay, come out of
- 52:15Speaker 1: yourself for a little bit and just do that for
- 52:16Speaker 1: their sake. As far as you and this guy goes,
- 52:19Speaker 1: time will only tell if he continues to be controlling.
- 52:23Speaker 1: He sounds like a nagger and all that already. But
- 52:25Speaker 1: you got to decide if you want to deal with that,
- 52:27Speaker 1: because it's not gonna get any better. And yeah, when
- 52:30Speaker 1: you're fine and beautiful, you can't hide it. You cannot
- 52:34Speaker 1: steve let it out. Well, this is a real simple
- 52:37Speaker 1: fix right here. Appreciate everything you said, Sherley. Here's the
- 52:41Speaker 1: other side of the coin than See. The way you dress,
- 52:45Speaker 1: that's how you got him. The way you look, that's
- 52:48Speaker 1: how you got him. See he liked all that when
- 52:51Speaker 1: he saw you. That's what got his attention. You had
- 52:57Speaker 1: what he wanted. That's why y'all together now, the little
- 53:02Speaker 1: pencil skirts, the tight fit, the crop tops to cleave
- 53:06Speaker 1: it showing, the wrap skirts, the fitted sweater. Y'all go
- 53:11Speaker 1: out on weekends, you dress how you wan't bam. That's
- 53:15Speaker 1: what got him. But now he want to change. Well,
- 53:18Speaker 1: see the problem he got now is he probably need
- 53:22Speaker 1: a nun. He needed to date somebody that's a little
- 53:26Speaker 1: bit different than you. Here's I'm first, I'm gonna get
- 53:28Speaker 1: into this right here. You thirty and he forty one.
- 53:32Speaker 1: That's eleven years. That's a gap. That's a gap, and
- 53:37Speaker 1: it's a real gap. When it's more than an eleven
- 53:41Speaker 1: year distance, eleven year difference, it's probably more because he's
- 53:48Speaker 1: probably an older forty one, if you know what I mean,
- 53:54Speaker 1: he probably an old stuck up forty one. Then you
- 53:58Speaker 1: might just be a little be younger thirty. But you
- 54:04Speaker 1: a lawyer, you work at a law firm, You got
- 54:07Speaker 1: a career. You gotta go to work appropriate. You can't
- 54:10Speaker 1: go in there looking like anything. You know, you can't
- 54:13Speaker 1: go to work looking like you a case. So I
- 54:16Speaker 1: think what's really happening here is this eleven year age
- 54:19Speaker 1: difference is bigger than eleven years because in his mind
- 54:22Speaker 1: he wants something else. All right, we'll come back with
- 54:25Speaker 1: part two of your response at twenty three after the hour.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Right after this you're listening to show. Let's recap today's
- 54:34Speaker 1: strawberry letters, Steve. Let's get to part two of your response,
- 54:37Speaker 1: subject you can't hide a beautiful body. Well, this thirty
- 54:43Speaker 1: year old lady married this old as for the one
- 54:45Speaker 1: year old man with these three damned daughters that she
- 54:48Speaker 1: ain't got no kids. They've been together five months and
- 54:51Speaker 1: he don't approve now how she dressed. You know, he
- 54:57Speaker 1: says you dressed like he want attention from other men.
- 54:59Speaker 1: See that's crazy because see you dressed got attention from him.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Now that he got you, he don't want nobody else
- 55:06Speaker 1: paying attention to you. This is the beginning of something greater. Now,
- 55:11Speaker 1: I really do believe that this dressing is the beginning
- 55:13Speaker 1: of something greater. And like Shirley said, he could be
- 55:17Speaker 1: very controlling. Next thing, you know, you can't where it is.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Next thing, you know why you're going over there, and
- 55:23Speaker 1: next thing, you know why you're spending that. Next thing,
- 55:26Speaker 1: you know, I don't want you driving that colon. No
- 55:28Speaker 1: mo next thing. You know you ain't gonna hand no friends.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I don't see a problem with me man or top
- 55:34Speaker 1: to show a little stomach, or a dress that shows
- 55:36Speaker 1: off my courage. He didn't have a problem with you
- 55:40Speaker 1: dress how he met me. You don't gonna write he
- 55:42Speaker 1: didn't he But now you've been talking about a NonStop
- 55:44Speaker 1: that's called some of his damn friends is looking at you.
- 55:47Speaker 1: See now he's starting to notice some of the other
- 55:50Speaker 1: men looking at you. Now he's feeling sort of inadequate.
- 55:55Speaker 1: You know, I don't want you to do this, so
- 55:56Speaker 1: I don't want you to. He's feeling some little little
- 55:58Speaker 1: bit of insecurity too. I think I recently met his
- 56:02Speaker 1: daughters and I was dressed appropriately in jeans and a sweatshirt.
- 56:05Speaker 1: He still said, I need to do a better presenting
- 56:07Speaker 1: myself in a more wholesome matter. What the hell and
- 56:09Speaker 1: wholesome that's what I'm saying to cover it up from
- 56:16Speaker 1: head to tell. So why you want me to seem wholesome? Now?
- 56:19Speaker 1: I never tend to be a role model for his children. Okay,
- 56:22Speaker 1: now let me explain something you can't say that I
- 56:24Speaker 1: can't say that to him, Man, I ain't trying to
- 56:27Speaker 1: be no damn role model for your damn kids. Uh,
- 56:32Speaker 1: I can't say that. Don't say that, lady. He ain't
- 56:35Speaker 1: gonna handle that good, all right, He says, he wants
- 56:40Speaker 1: me to be more like his friend's wife, and that's
- 56:43Speaker 1: all finding good. Well, he should marry his friends. He
- 56:48Speaker 1: should just go dates one of his one have, have
- 56:52Speaker 1: his friend's wife introduce him to some of her friends.
- 56:58Speaker 1: They all three keys. It's stay at home mom, Yeah,
- 57:04Speaker 1: drive a minute van. It all, it's all good. Ain't
- 57:08Speaker 1: nothing wrong with that. But you're gonna get out, this
- 57:11Speaker 1: little fan says, call you guy. You're gonna get yourself
- 57:15Speaker 1: a minute van, get down here to this damn save
- 57:18Speaker 1: a lot and get you damn grocery. Wow, that's what
- 57:27Speaker 1: you're gonna do. Why is he bringing us up now
- 57:31Speaker 1: and trying to change mem I'm at the point why
- 57:33Speaker 1: I want to settle down, and he could be the one,
- 57:35Speaker 1: but obviously I'm not the woman he really wants. Well, now,
- 57:38Speaker 1: hold on, let's just take these last two statements. I'm
- 57:43Speaker 1: at the point where I'm ready to settle down and
- 57:45Speaker 1: he could be the one, could be the one, and
- 57:49Speaker 1: but obviously I'm not the woman he really wants. Okay,
- 57:52Speaker 1: he could be the one, but obviously I'm not the
- 57:56Speaker 1: woman he really wants. Could this be a deal breaker?
- 57:59Speaker 1: It could be a deal I think what you should do, though,
- 58:03Speaker 1: is wait a little while and just see how it goes.
- 58:07Speaker 1: You know, don't make a commitment. Just stay in this
- 58:10Speaker 1: relationship and see how I go, See how heavy he
- 58:14Speaker 1: gets with them, what he wants. You know, you know,
- 58:18Speaker 1: some of the little changes you can make in your
- 58:20Speaker 1: dress might be good for you, but then some of
- 58:22Speaker 1: it might not be what you want to do. You
- 58:24Speaker 1: can't just totally flip the script for this man, and
- 58:26Speaker 1: he ain't flipping the script for you. I will flip
- 58:29Speaker 1: the script for a woman if she flipped the script
- 58:31Speaker 1: for me. This as long as I get flip, that's
- 58:36Speaker 1: me stupid. You got to get flippy. That's what j J.
- 58:51Speaker 1: The woman he used to date big slid. It ain't
- 58:59Speaker 1: gonna go like you, man, Wi No, no, no, no, no, Jay,
- 59:02Speaker 1: that's how he liked it. Then you ain't been flipped. No,
- 59:09Speaker 1: I don't either. How come I'm facing the head bo.
- 59:20Speaker 1: That's not a good feel. I don't know what you're
- 59:24Speaker 1: doing when you flip me first day coming out, when
- 59:31Speaker 1: it is going, whoa, what were you doing here? Calling?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Calling sexual time out? It's too hard. Can't flip me?
- 59:49Speaker 1: Usually when you get flipp is followed by shut up,
- 59:51Speaker 1: but yeah, we mean about say so you can your
- 59:55Speaker 1: respect is taken. No, man, you're not gonna talk to
- 59:58Speaker 1: me like that. No, no, no no. If you keep
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: getting flipped, it follows up with a slap. Oh oh man,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: this is this is scary. This is yeah, you know
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: now that you look at it, Tommy. As I was
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: doing light flipping, this is aggressive flipping. Nat. Also, once
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: you get flipping, once you get flipped, you get this baby,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: fix my play, fix your damn. I don't say a place.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I can't get a sandwich, I can't get the same.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: You're gonna lead the covers on me like that. This
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: is going to look ugly, right, yeah, yeah, you don't
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: want to get flip. Yeah, take your flip back, Tommy. Yeah,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: all right, Look, we gotta go email us your Instagram
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: us guys. Uh, your your thoughts on today's Strawberry letter
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: at Steve Harvey f M. You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: All right, sister Odell is here to wish us happy
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: holidays and to tell us about some of her holiday traditions,

- 1:02:14Speaker 1: the show. Funk Christmas. Hey, look hello there, good morning,
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: good morning, morning, morning morning to everyone. So what can
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I do for y'all to day? What did you want?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Any special requests? I mean giving holiday spirit to move? Well? Um,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: you wanna bless us with the song since you're here?
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I mean I know you love Christmas songs. You can
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: finish na, I see it all How jeez, did you
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: like jingle bells? It's your dell? Well, you know the
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: original version. They change it when white people started singing,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: what what do you mean? What you mean like jingle bells?
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: Jingle bells? That's not original when used to this used
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: to be jingle bears. Used to go like this, jangle
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: or jangle or jangle Oh, jangle, jangle lord, jangle bell,
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: jangle bells, jangle bells, jangle all away. I said, jangle bears,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: jangle bells, jangle all the way. Then you know, white
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: folks couldn't do it, so they had to sing would yeah, yeah,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: what's your version of? All right? More of this crazy
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: ignorant show. Steve Harvey Morning Show. Right after this, you're
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: listening to Steve Show. All right. Yahoo is reporting, guys,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: a new pole that finds fifty nine percent of couples
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: say that they suspected their partner of cheating. If they
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: suspected them, they would discuss the matter with them rather
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: than jumping to conclusions. I'm going to say that again
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: for the lateies. Okay, fifty nine percent of couples say
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: that if they suspected their partner of cheating, they would
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: discuss the matter with them rather than jumping to conclusions. Okay, cool,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Let me ask you a questions, Shirley and Colum, Now,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. Just listen to this question.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: If you suspected your husband of cheating and it was
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: not on the internet, nobody knew, none of your co workers,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: it was not it wasn't made public. If you suspected
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: your husband of cheating, would you bring it up calmly?
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: Would you bring it up with anger? How would you
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: do it? Probably? All of the above for me without
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the calm though you're already nowhere, bigger, all of it.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: All of the above for me, without the calm anger.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: If I suspected that not yet? No, well, I mean,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: if you had suspicious you ain't have no proof. You ain't,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: you ain't heard nothing, you ain't got no pictures, ain't no,
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: ain't on internet, and none of that. But Steve, you
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: know we have intuition. You know we have intuition. You
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: disappointing to you, mister Harvey. I don't know. I'm just
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: trying to see what y'all would do. I don't really
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: And the word discussion I have a problem with. There
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: will be no discussion. Well, are you gonna just find
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: out on your own first? Like you see us? I
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: let me ask you a question. Suppose you discovered that
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: you were wrong about him and that he wasn't cheating.
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: What happens at that point? Oh, then I'm apologizing and
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: begging to his forgiveness, begging for his forgiveness and threatening
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: him he better not do it. You see what happens? Yeah,
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: God in the tart, you gotta do that. Yeah, you
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: apologize for your wrong doing, but you know, make it
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: up to him. You know that. Wow, that's amazing. Any
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: more questions, We're here for it. No, y'all's answers short,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: yeah and truthful, and there's no one. There's no one
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: in between, ain't no? You know that's I don't like
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: talking to y'all. Were you expect I think something else?
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I don't know what I expected, but that wasn't it.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: You've obviously been through this before. I'll tell you what
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I found out though us I'm fine out. I ain't
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: fired up to have a discussion. Once they fired out,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I'll cheating. It's old. You're uglass sitting up here. Got
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the lyric cheat? No, you get but Junior. Don't you
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: know that money changes things? Yeah? How you get the
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: nerve that was before? Look at you now see Tommy
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: saying dang Junior like you can't believe Junior called itself.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: U Tommy, you're ugly. No, I am not. Am not
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: gonna let you stop doing that. You go listen twenty eighteen.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: You're not gonna do this. I'm not. I'm gonna tell
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the truth in two thousand natures? Are you finem? No,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: I'm not no fine and I'm not out, but I
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: ain't just been to be uglyttle. No, I'm not doing that. Dog,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: You're not fine and I'm not. But listen to me.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: If you're not fine, then by a long ship what
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: you think that is? Why do you do that to him? Steve?
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: I don't know why Tommy keep thinking he cute, but
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: you're not cute. I didn't say I was cute. I'm
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: just saying I'm not Listen to me. Listen to me.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: You look strang. I'm decent. I don't you do. I
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: do not looks grang. To just get a mirror and
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: look at yourself from the side. You're strange looking. I'm
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: not strange. Don't tell me. You are you look strange
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: all everybody, all the men in our family, we're strange
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: looking from the side. Look't have fun with the time
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: when you accept it. Tommy, he's never going to accept that.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: You guys know that I'm not I'm not doing it
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: speaking of times to break with strange. Look, you're listening
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: to show. I think it's time for Tommy and I,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Tommy and I together. It's to talk to the side
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: pieces over the holidays, because we stopped that call and
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: now they stops. They need a Christmas. What changes. It's
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: thirty days. Do you know what? There are a lot
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: of people who didn't hear what we did for Thanksgiving.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: So now we're speaking to a new batch of people.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Some people became side pieces, you see. Say Christmas, ladies,
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: let me talk to y'all. What all right? The twenty
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: four Christmas? That's your Christmas? Okay, And let me tell
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: you something. You your twenty four is really from about
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: eight a m. To about one to two pm right
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: in there, that's your Christmas. Yeah. Yeah, whatever you vision
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: y'all doing on Christmas, that's your time right there. So
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: if y'all want to walk into living room like y'all
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: just woke up. Go ahead, walk in there like y'all
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: just woke up. Gifts under the tree, pajamas on everything.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Let's go on. Okay, have some lunch. Okay, but now
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: when one o'clock strikes hello, we have to go. Okay,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: he's got to leave. Now, you gotta go in the afternoon,
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: and afternoon he's gotta go. Your Christmas is over? What
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: is she supposed to do for the rest of the day.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: What did she playing on doing? Yeah? Good part about it?
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: You know when it starts and you know when it ends.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: This is what we're he you're listening show. You know,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: people think that if you don't speak with them, then
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: there has to be a problem. Yeah, you know they
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: think that they really do believe. What wrong with you? Yeah,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: what's wrong with you? You know? So I get a
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: text message from a family member that read, when family
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: and friends go through life not speaking, there will come
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: a day to regret it. It's called the funeral. Well,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: I want to respond to that family member, real civil
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: truth be told. If I go first, what I'm trying
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: to hope to do. If I go first and I
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: don't have I read it to regret it, really the
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: fact that you sit it over there and you still
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: haven't got a response. What that means. I'm not mad.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: I just don't speak to you like this. No, I
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: don't have time like this is This is people to understand.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: If you text somebody and you look at your text
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: law and all other text messages, yea off from you
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: day responded you a message back. If the last message
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: you got for me was married rispons, we just don't talk.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: That's that's not my fault. If you keep telling people
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: to tell me that you said call you, guess what
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: I ain't called. I just won't you understand that I'm
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: not mad at you. I just don't have to talk
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: to you. So you can be mad if you won't
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: do Yeah, okay, it is called the funeral. But then,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: knowing you and why I'm not talking you, I won't
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: even be mad when I shouldn't get up there with
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: confidence and lie like everybody here lies a great individual,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: someone who lived beyond a mean a life changes. I
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: can get up that lot with the best thing. That's
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: all I got to say. You gotta get before you
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: figure out I'm not talking talking you send a bunch
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: of I'm not talking. I just ain't talking. Sometimes it's
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: good to cut people outgain know, I ever said everybody
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: should not be in your life? Right? Hello? All right,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: coming up, it's Steve Harvey and his closing remarks. You
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: don't want to miss it. At forty nine after the hour,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: you're listening. All right, Here we are at the final
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: break of the day with just one more thing. Steve's
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: closing remarks, What do you have for us? Say? What
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: do you have for us today? Sir? Your wisdom? Drop it? Okay? Uh? Today,
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I thought i'd talked to you about something with a
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: with a little bit different angle to it. It's gonna
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: be positive, But I want to talk to you about
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: something that many people consider negative. I want to talk
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: to you today about disappointment because I think that we
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: all have to grapple with disappointment from time to time.
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: The problem with disappointment is that disappointment also if you
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: don't understand it, disappointment can turn so ugly so fast.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: Too many people allow disappointment to turn into resentment. Too
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: many people allow disappointment to turn into a final verdict,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: so to speak. In other words, you know, so many
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: people think that this disappointment for them, symbolizes the end.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: When you allow for disappointment to turn into resentment, and
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you allow disappointment to turn into the final verdict, you're
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: losing what disappointment actually can become for you. And I
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: want you all to start looking at disappointment as motivation.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: How many times have you been faced with something that
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: was disappointing. Let's say you go in to get a
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: job and you're on your last interview, and I have
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: been in this position. Man. I was trying to get
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: an insurance job one time years ago, and I went
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: in and I had gotten gone through about three or
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: four interviews. I was at my final interview and I said, man,
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I'm about to get this job. Man, get my little
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: family together. I'll be all right. And got to that
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: interview and they told me no. And the reason they
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: gave me for not hiring me was I had moved
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: too many times over the past seven years and that
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: represented it to their company, a sign of unstableness. That
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: disappointment for me was gut wrenching. I actually got in
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: my car, my little seventy two Chevy, and I was
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: driving off Man and tears was in my eyes. When
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I got up on the freeway and I drove back
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: and I looked back over at that big building with
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: that big powerful name on it, and I had gone
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: through four interviews and I and all of a sudden,
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: I was so disappointed and not got getting hired. But
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: you know what I learned to do though, from that
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: moment on, I turned all my disappointment into motivation. I said, Okay, now,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: this might not be right for everybody, but I use
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: it as a challenge. I use all my disappointments as okay,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: I'll show you. I use them all this motivation. From
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: the time my teacher told me that you ain't gonna
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: never be nothing, that there's no way they'll put somebody
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: like you on TV because you have a stuttering problem
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: and you can't even talk. I said, okay, but who
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: are you who is issuing out this disappointment? Because you're
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: not gonna make me resent you and you're not gonna
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: cause me to think that you're denying me this opportunity.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Are you handing me this bad news of disappointment. I'm
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: not going to allow you to be my final verdict.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: You will not be the truth teller in my life.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: You are not going to be the person who who
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: is the author of my destiny. You are not in
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: that belongs to God, not you, and I will not
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: give that to anyone. So when you're facing disappointment, do
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: not hand that disappointment over to the person who gave
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: it to you in the form of empowerment. Do not
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: allow them to control your destiny with this one piece
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: of disappointment that causes you to go into sexual resentment,
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: that you become bitter that all of a sudden, now
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: all you think about is that, and you be getting
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: you developed this nasty attitude. You don't have to do that,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: and you also don't have to let them become the
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: final verdict. They are not the author of your destiny.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: They are not the author of your future. They are
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: not that belongs to God and only God. Don't let
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: them trip you up. And I'm saying this because I've
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: had many, many, many disappointments. You ain't this. You ain't that.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I've had shows canceled, gigs taken, I've been fired from radio,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: I've been all in all, I've had some disappointing setbacks.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: But let me tell you something I've learned to do.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: I've learned to take all those setbacks and use them
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: as motivation. And I just quietly say to myself, you
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: ain't my God, You ain't the author of my destiny.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: You didn't create me, you don't know me, you have
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: no say so in the real outcome of who I'm
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: going to be and what I'm going to turn myself into.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: It's not you, And I'll not give you the power
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: to do that to me. You who think you have
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: the power by telling me no, by turning me down,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: by refusing me, by voting against me, by saying that
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I'm not the right one for the part, that's saying
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: that your company don't need a person like me, by
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: telling me that I represent an unstable person, by telling
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: me that I don't have what it takes. No, no, no, no, noll.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: It's just because you don't know, because you don't know
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: what God really has for me, And that ain't your fault.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: So why bear resentment for these people who are causing
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: this disappointment in your life? You don't have to do
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: that because they are not the author of your destiny.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: And don't you dare give them that. You take that
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: disappointment and you use it as the motivation. I feel
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: sorry for people who tell me no, because you know
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: what I know. I know. They just don't know what
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: God has for me. And I end up somehow through
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: God's grace and mercy showing them all. Keep the right attitude, y'all.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: God got something for you through all your disappointment. Y'all
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: have a great weekend. Okay. For all Steve Harvey contests,
