- 1:24Speaker 1: Gotta turn.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I got to turn the mouth turn.
- 1:43Speaker 1: You probably got to turn the mouth out. Turn the
- 1:47Speaker 1: water the water jump.
- 1:49Speaker 6: Look me.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Come come out, You'll think I sure will. Good morning everybody.
- 2:04Speaker 7: You are listening to the voice, Come on, dig me
- 2:07Speaker 7: now one and only see Harvey got a radio show.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yeah man, got one.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Hey.
- 2:14Speaker 8: You know, I thought I think of my life in
- 2:17Speaker 8: terms of blessings. You know, I take mostly a positive
- 2:21Speaker 8: approach and a positive spin to my life. I hardly
- 2:25Speaker 8: ever dwell on you know, the what's well. I can't
- 2:29Speaker 8: say that I don't think about the what's wrong in
- 2:31Speaker 8: it because I have to, because I have to address
- 2:34Speaker 8: problems as they arise. But I try not to let
- 2:37Speaker 8: them consume me. I let the consumption part be about
- 2:42Speaker 8: the blessings, the positive things that has occurred in my life,
- 2:46Speaker 8: the good things that God has done for me, the
- 2:50Speaker 8: power that He's displayed in my life, the protection He's
- 2:54Speaker 8: given me over the years, to being tucked under his wings.
- 2:57Speaker 8: I focus on the things that he promises me. I
- 3:01Speaker 8: think of all the goodness that I perceive to come
- 3:04Speaker 8: my way. I think that has a lot to do
- 3:07Speaker 8: with me learning more and more about the law of
- 3:09Speaker 8: attraction in terms of you know, what you think and
- 3:13Speaker 8: what you put out in the space, and what you
- 3:16Speaker 8: pray about is what you receive. You know, and so
- 3:19Speaker 8: I've become better and better at that. It's not to
- 3:22Speaker 8: say that I'm not human and I don't have moments
- 3:26Speaker 8: where I think a little bit too long about what's
- 3:29Speaker 8: going wrong and what enemy is about to attack and
- 3:32Speaker 8: what they're going to do and say, and all of
- 3:35Speaker 8: is his. That's not to say that I'm not concerned
- 3:38Speaker 8: about it. But I try to dwell mostly on the positive.
- 3:41Speaker 8: And one of the things that I learned, you can
- 3:44Speaker 8: have an incredible life, all of us. We can have
- 3:48Speaker 8: incredible lives if we just let God drive.
- 3:53Speaker 2: See.
- 3:54Speaker 8: The problem that I had years ago was I was
- 3:58Speaker 8: the driver of my life, and I was taking myself
- 4:02Speaker 8: in the directions that I thought would be best for me,
- 4:06Speaker 8: and I aimed at things that I thought I could accomplish,
- 4:10Speaker 8: and I set goals that I saw myself being able
- 4:14Speaker 8: to attain I was driving.
- 4:17Speaker 2: When I gave up and I let God drive.
- 4:20Speaker 8: I then opened up my mind and my spirit to
- 4:25Speaker 8: what God had for me, for what God could see
- 4:29Speaker 8: for me, for what God could do in my life, well,
- 4:33Speaker 8: for what God wanted for me. Now he wanted for
- 4:38Speaker 8: me and he wanted of me. See, that's the connection
- 4:42Speaker 8: that you got to try to make. Well, not try,
- 4:45Speaker 8: that's the connection that you got to make to really
- 4:47Speaker 8: get it. Now, listen to me. What I don't want
- 4:49Speaker 8: you to do is do like me. Don't be afraid
- 4:52Speaker 8: of the what for of the what he wants you
- 4:55Speaker 8: to do part see, because that ain't gonna be nearly
- 4:58Speaker 8: as demanding and as offsetting as you think it's gonna be.
- 5:02Speaker 2: See.
- 5:02Speaker 8: I thought that if I did God's will, that if
- 5:05Speaker 8: I let God tell me what to do, that it
- 5:08Speaker 8: would cause me to not to be able to do
- 5:11Speaker 8: a certain some things I wanted to do well, which
- 5:13Speaker 8: is true. But the stuff I wanted to do was
- 5:15Speaker 8: all detrimental to my well being and my future and
- 5:19Speaker 8: my growth and development as a man. I was stopping
- 5:23Speaker 8: my own growth as a man because see, I was
- 5:25Speaker 8: doing what I thought I should do as a man.
- 5:28Speaker 2: But when you give it over to God.
- 5:30Speaker 8: See, God has a much better plan for you than
- 5:32Speaker 8: you can ever have for yourself. And God knows a
- 5:35Speaker 8: better way, far better than the one you know. I
- 5:38Speaker 8: want you to believe that. Man, you got to understand
- 5:40Speaker 8: that part of it. And that's the part that I
- 5:42Speaker 8: finally got through my head to let God do it
- 5:45Speaker 8: his way and to show me a better way, and
- 5:48Speaker 8: to teach me a better way and expose to me
- 5:51Speaker 8: a better way. And when I opened up my mind
- 5:54Speaker 8: to what God was talking about, I began to see
- 5:57Speaker 8: things totally differently, and things started coming to me totally differently.
- 6:03Speaker 8: If you've been a friend of mine or a fan
- 6:05Speaker 8: of mine over the years, I mean, you've had to
- 6:08Speaker 8: see it the change. You've had to see the difference.
- 6:12Speaker 8: I mean, and I acknowledge that every chance I get,
- 6:16Speaker 8: because I promise God I would, and I hope that
- 6:18Speaker 8: I'm not falling short in that category. But then again,
- 6:22Speaker 8: if I told it all day long would he done
- 6:24Speaker 8: for me? I still wouldn't have enough time to really
- 6:27Speaker 8: explain thoroughly what He's done for me, because it's such
- 6:30Speaker 8: a continuous growth in me. But now that's not to
- 6:35Speaker 8: say that I'm finished or I'm done or I'm complete,
- 6:39Speaker 8: because I'm still shock. You can't be him. You can
- 6:43Speaker 8: strive for perfection. I hear people saying it all the time.
- 6:46Speaker 8: I applaud you for saying you want to be perfect,
- 6:48Speaker 8: but you ain't and you can't. And so you quit
- 6:51Speaker 8: saying it. You quit saying it to me, quit saying
- 6:54Speaker 8: it to other people. I'm seeking a life of perfection,
- 6:57Speaker 8: but it's something that you cannot have because he said
- 7:00Speaker 8: you can't do it.
- 7:02Speaker 2: But that's what he'd have for.
- 7:03Speaker 8: He'd have for the moments when you stumble and you fall,
- 7:06Speaker 8: and you go stumble and fall. See, you got to
- 7:08Speaker 8: get that part right, man, The stumbling falling part is coming.
- 7:12Speaker 8: But see, you get God in your life and it
- 7:14Speaker 8: helps you so that you don't stumble, fall, wallow roll,
- 7:18Speaker 8: over lay their languish. That's what God is for. So
- 7:23Speaker 8: when you stumbling, fall, you get back up. Because you're
- 7:26Speaker 8: going to make mistakes. You're going to get it wrong,
- 7:30Speaker 8: You're going to come under attack, You're going to be
- 7:33Speaker 8: lied about, you are going to be falsely accused.
- 7:36Speaker 2: That's going to happen to you.
- 7:38Speaker 8: The moment you make a decision to do better, the
- 7:41Speaker 8: moment you try to be more. The devil got to
- 7:44Speaker 8: send his attackers, man, and he controls certain people. He
- 7:48Speaker 8: just got people that's on his side twenty four seven.
- 7:52Speaker 8: You know him too. You've all met one or two
- 7:54Speaker 8: of the men in your life. They just busy with
- 7:57Speaker 8: the business of nothingness. They just isy about about the
- 8:01Speaker 8: destruction of others. You said, I know them, you know them.
- 8:05Speaker 8: They coming. But here's what you gotta hold fast too.
- 8:09Speaker 8: They can't take away nothing from you that God gave you.
- 8:13Speaker 8: They didn't make you. See, people who claim to have
- 8:17Speaker 8: made you, if they so in to make you business,
- 8:20Speaker 8: why don't they make theyself?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Or if they ain't with you no more?
- 8:24Speaker 8: And they so busy in them I made you business,
- 8:27Speaker 8: why don't they make somebody else? Since you want to
- 8:31Speaker 8: get credit for making somebody make yourself. If you're responsible
- 8:37Speaker 8: for someone else's success, then you should easily be able
- 8:40Speaker 8: to take claim and be responsible for your own success.
- 8:43Speaker 2: See, be careful of that.
- 8:45Speaker 8: Don't and don't change your course because somebody is attacking
- 8:49Speaker 8: you with that. I just hope man, that I'm giving
- 8:52Speaker 8: it to God the way I said I would give
- 8:54Speaker 8: it to him, that I would unload every chance I
- 8:57Speaker 8: got that I was supposed to without being you.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Know, or hear he come again?
- 9:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 9:01Speaker 8: I try not to be that, but man, I don't
- 9:04Speaker 8: know what else to be for the first twelve minutes
- 9:06Speaker 8: of my show?
- 9:06Speaker 2: What else you want me to say? I got four hours?
- 9:09Speaker 8: I can't give God twelve twelve minutes, man, I mean,
- 9:12Speaker 8: for real, Steve, come on, man, I mean, let's look
- 9:14Speaker 8: at this right here. If you've given honor to God
- 9:17Speaker 8: just twelve minutes out the day, dog, he gave you
- 9:21Speaker 8: twenty four hours of luxury and life and breath and
- 9:25Speaker 8: hope and promise that you ain't got twelve minutes to
- 9:27Speaker 8: give him out the day. That don't make no sense.
- 9:30Speaker 8: What in exchange? What a wonderful life God has given
- 9:33Speaker 8: me in exchange for so small of effort that I
- 9:36Speaker 8: put forth. Don't let the effort you got to put
- 9:39Speaker 8: forth to God seem so dawning that you don't attempt
- 9:41Speaker 8: to do it, because man, it seems like a lot.
- 9:44Speaker 8: It ain't nothing to compare to what He be giving.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Us for real.
- 9:47Speaker 8: So if you want a real life, you want a
- 9:48Speaker 8: real shot at what you can be, what you can have,
- 9:51Speaker 8: what you can own, what you can become who you
- 9:53Speaker 8: really are.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Go to God, let him fix you.
- 9:55Speaker 7: Man.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's all you're listening to.
- 9:58Speaker 9: The Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Ladies and gentlemen, everybody that's in listening range, all of
- 10:09Speaker 8: you incredibly made people, all of you who are blessed
- 10:14Speaker 8: to still be here. Everybody that God gave another shot.
- 10:19Speaker 8: Why don't you just say I appreciate it?
- 10:21Speaker 10: Lord?
- 10:21Speaker 8: Why don't you tell him how much you're thank you
- 10:23Speaker 8: for it? Have you thought about that? Today is a
- 10:25Speaker 8: great day man. As a matter of fact, today is
- 10:28Speaker 8: the day that the Lord has made. Come on now,
- 10:31Speaker 8: let us rejoice and be glad in it.
- 10:33Speaker 7: Period.
- 10:34Speaker 8: Don't worry about what happened to you yesterday. You can't
- 10:37Speaker 8: do nothing about that. Stop overburdening yourself and worrying about tomorrow.
- 10:44Speaker 8: Tomorrow may be completely different from the way you anticipate.
- 10:48Speaker 8: So to remove anxiety from your life, remove concern over
- 10:52Speaker 8: the two things you could do nothing about, your past
- 10:55Speaker 8: and your future. Live today, Give us this day our
- 10:59Speaker 8: daily bread. That's the deal, man. What's up y'all?
- 11:02Speaker 7: Steve Alvim on the show, Shirley Strawberry calling for real
- 11:05Speaker 7: Mississippi Monica, a junior boy the comeback kid and the
- 11:10Speaker 7: legend that is nephew Tommy Junior. Man, it's on your mind.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Man, Well you man, how you doing? How's you holding?
- 11:20Speaker 1: How you doing?
- 11:21Speaker 7: Listen to me?
- 11:22Speaker 2: You hear me this morning?
- 11:23Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm up en rolling with gratitude. Look, man, whatever
- 11:28Speaker 8: beset you. The one thing about it, I have a
- 11:32Speaker 8: track record with God. God has gotten me through every
- 11:36Speaker 8: difficult time I've ever been. He I expect him to
- 11:40Speaker 8: do the same thing again. So I lived my life
- 11:43Speaker 8: in that expectation. You know, we appreciate all the prayers
- 11:47Speaker 8: y'all is sent out to the family and everything.
- 11:50Speaker 2: You know, family doing best they can is a tough loss.
- 11:52Speaker 11: Man.
- 11:54Speaker 8: My father in law, James Bridge Sior, was married to
- 11:57Speaker 8: Doris for sixty four years. She would have been their
- 12:00Speaker 8: sixty fifth anniversary, So you know, that's a that's a
- 12:04Speaker 8: long time two people be together.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Man.
- 12:08Speaker 8: Nobody's hurting like her, nobody, you know. And then he
- 12:13Speaker 8: had two children, that was Marjorie and her brother, James Jr.
- 12:17Speaker 8: And uh, you know they hold it. They hold it.
- 12:21Speaker 8: But you know how grief is. Everybody out there y'all know,
- 12:24Speaker 8: y'all know how grief is. Yes, sir, he can hold
- 12:29Speaker 8: you around your neck for a minute.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Man, know it.
- 12:33Speaker 2: You've been looking at your tongue. It be dry, you
- 12:35Speaker 2: know it. Do some things to you.
- 12:37Speaker 12: Man, tongue, you know, look at your tongue, could do
- 12:43Speaker 12: some things to you.
- 12:48Speaker 10: Yeah, that's why we love That's why we love you
- 12:53Speaker 10: right there.
- 12:54Speaker 7: Yeah, how to use human You gotta do something. Man,
- 12:57Speaker 7: sit up in there and just.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Do you.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Not with him. I never looked at my man. I
- 13:06Speaker 1: love this shit. We laugh, we cry. I don't know
- 13:09Speaker 1: what to feel right now.
- 13:10Speaker 8: I did tell this one old dude that came up
- 13:13Speaker 8: to my mother in law. We're here for you, hey, man,
- 13:16Speaker 8: move around, moved I catch you over with the house
- 13:19Speaker 8: dropping nothing off, none of it. That's sound like where
- 13:21Speaker 8: you're going. All listen here, we're gonna be here for
- 13:27Speaker 8: you now. We're here for her.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Get ready to fight.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Take a little meatload sandwich gone somewhere you.
- 13:36Speaker 10: All right now, we got a great show planned for
- 13:38Speaker 10: you today coming up at thirty two minutes after the hour.

- 14:47Speaker 1: This is love et cetera. Love that sounds to nice.
- 14:52Speaker 7: You know, I like the thing I always make them
- 14:54Speaker 7: mis say, is it etc ect atc Oh?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Here we come on?
- 15:06Speaker 11: Oh no, she's not here right now? Who's speaking?
- 15:09Speaker 13: This is doctor Albert Listen. I was giving a call.
- 15:11Speaker 13: Are you able to leave a message for for me?
- 15:13Speaker 14: Yeah? Yeah, okay?
- 15:14Speaker 13: Would you let her know her sessions will be on
- 15:16Speaker 13: Wednesdays at seven thirty sessions.
- 15:19Speaker 11: What sess are you talking about?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Session?
- 15:21Speaker 13: Well, actually, she signed up for class, an eight week
- 15:24Speaker 13: class and it's every Wednesday night at seven thirty.
- 15:26Speaker 11: Okay, what classes are you talking about? What kind of classes?
- 15:30Speaker 13: This is Love et cetera? Have you heard of us? No? Okay,
- 15:34Speaker 13: Well let me kind of give you a little briefing here.
- 15:36Speaker 13: Caitlin actually came in and filled out to take some
- 15:39Speaker 13: classes and we're Love et cetera. So we teach different things.
- 15:44Speaker 11: What is it like a seminar or something.
- 15:46Speaker 13: Well, we teach poor play, intimacy, sensual massages and things
- 15:51Speaker 13: like that. And she I was actually here when she
- 15:53Speaker 13: came and filled out the paperwork. She said she wanted
- 15:55Speaker 13: to screwce up her love life with her husband. Are
- 15:59Speaker 13: you her husband?
- 16:00Speaker 11: Yeah? Yeah, I'm a husband. But what I'm saying is
- 16:03Speaker 11: it is like like a joint thing. Am I supposed
- 16:05Speaker 11: to be there or something?
- 16:05Speaker 7: No?
- 16:05Speaker 13: No, no, no, no, this is actually her wanting to Actually,
- 16:08Speaker 13: if you don't know about it, I'm assuming she wants
- 16:10Speaker 13: to surprise you and show you some different things when
- 16:13Speaker 13: she finishes her sessions.
- 16:15Speaker 11: When did she come in like she came in. Where
- 16:17Speaker 11: are y'all located? First of all?
- 16:18Speaker 13: Okay, well, she actually came in a couple of weeks
- 16:20Speaker 13: ago and she filled out the paperwork. We're in the
- 16:23Speaker 13: downtown area. She said, she was very excited. She wanted
- 16:25Speaker 13: to do some different things for her husband. We just
- 16:28Speaker 13: asked her she gets here a little earlier, probably fifteen
- 16:30Speaker 13: minutes earlier, so she can shower and put a robe
- 16:32Speaker 13: on and then we can start class. Who whoa whoa,
- 16:35Speaker 13: whoa whoa whoa.
- 16:36Speaker 11: Whoa shower and rolls?
- 16:37Speaker 14: What's that?
- 16:38Speaker 11: What's that for?
- 16:38Speaker 13: You're not upset about this, are you?
- 16:40Speaker 14: Now?
- 16:40Speaker 11: I mean, I've got no problem with you know us.
- 16:42Speaker 11: I mean we married a couple, you know what I mean?
- 16:43Speaker 11: So you know anything, the spikes, the spices of the marriage.
- 16:46Speaker 11: But you know, as far as me not being involved
- 16:48Speaker 11: in her going out to barr so and you're talking
- 16:50Speaker 11: about taking the bath and robe and all this other stuff. Man,
- 16:53Speaker 11: she don't need to be there for no mess like that.
- 16:55Speaker 13: Man. Well, no, no, sir, it's nothing like that. I mean,
- 16:58Speaker 13: it's it's basically as what people get in touch with
- 17:01Speaker 13: their with their sensitive side and you get to actually,
- 17:04Speaker 13: you know, you learn about four play. What what takes?
- 17:06Speaker 11: You're talking about eight weeks? Though? Eight weeks?
- 17:09Speaker 13: Eight weeks, sir?
- 17:11Speaker 11: You must, you must, how y'all even eight weeks?
- 17:14Speaker 7: Not much.
- 17:15Speaker 13: It's only one night a week, it's only on Wednesday.
- 17:17Speaker 13: So really you only have eight sessions.
- 17:19Speaker 11: Eight sessions exactly. Okay, So why why did she have
- 17:22Speaker 11: to have.
- 17:22Speaker 14: A robe though?
- 17:23Speaker 13: Well, you have to bring your rope, sir. Everyone showers
- 17:25Speaker 13: and then they put their robe on and we we
- 17:27Speaker 13: actually coached them through. Here's how four play goes. Here's
- 17:31Speaker 13: the intimacy, here's sensual massaging.
- 17:33Speaker 11: No no, no, no, fan you get you're getting it twisted.
- 17:36Speaker 11: What I'm asking you is you you you're really not
- 17:39Speaker 11: explaining yourself enough. Like what do y'all do? Like honesty
- 17:43Speaker 11: in the class, like a classroom said, if I'm in
- 17:44Speaker 11: the class, I'm taking a class. There's nobody touching me,
- 17:47Speaker 11: ain't no, ain't no cold coming off, ain't nobody taking
- 17:50Speaker 11: no group showers, carrying on? What you got you sound like?
- 17:53Speaker 13: It's nothing, nothing like that at all. But we do
- 17:58Speaker 13: come in contact with our sensuals now. She will have
- 18:01Speaker 13: a partner in class. She'll deal with that one partner.

- 53:24Speaker 17: I don't.
- 53:24Speaker 14: I can't stay there, man.
- 53:26Speaker 11: That's why I'm an.

- 56:50Speaker 1: Thank you, nephew. Subject It's so amazing to be single.
- 56:55Speaker 10: Dear Stephen Shirley, I'm a fifty four year old single
- 56:58Speaker 10: man dating a thirty six year old woman that has
- 57:01Speaker 10: never been married. I'm a bachelor by choice, and I
- 57:04Speaker 10: don't want to get married ever. I told her that
- 57:08Speaker 10: when I met her, and she said that she would
- 57:10Speaker 10: change my mind. Well, here we are six years later,
- 57:14Speaker 10: and nothing has changed except how she feels about me.
- 57:18Speaker 10: She told me that she's been acting like my wife
- 57:20Speaker 10: and cooking for me and spending holidays with me, even
- 57:23Speaker 10: helping me take care of my mother until her death.
- 57:26Speaker 10: She knows that I love her and I wouldn't want
- 57:28Speaker 10: anyone else by my side through thick and thin. But
- 57:31Speaker 10: I enjoy being by myself too much to get married
- 57:35Speaker 10: I do not want to be with someone day in
- 57:37Speaker 10: and day out, and that's why I have not moved
- 57:39Speaker 10: in with my girlfriend or vice versa. She wanted to
- 57:44Speaker 10: have children by me, and I told her that would
- 57:46Speaker 10: take up too much of my free time. I told
- 57:48Speaker 10: her that right when I met her. So I get
- 57:52Speaker 10: really irritated when she gets around her friends and family
- 57:55Speaker 10: and act like I have cold feet or that I
- 57:57Speaker 10: am taking her for granted. I ambarrassed her right back
- 58:00Speaker 10: every time she does it, and we'll go a few
- 58:03Speaker 10: days without her talking to me. She always apologizes first,
- 58:06Speaker 10: because she's always the one at fault. I know you'll
- 58:09Speaker 10: probably side with the woman and say that every man
- 58:12Speaker 10: needs a good woman by his side, and I agree,
- 58:15Speaker 10: but I don't think I have to live with that
- 58:17Speaker 10: woman or marry her. I have never forced her to
- 58:20Speaker 10: stay with me, and I would be devastated if she
- 58:23Speaker 10: left me. But I'm tired of her acting like I'm
- 58:25Speaker 10: ruining her life and doing her wrong. What can Why
- 58:30Speaker 10: can't people be single in peace if they want to? Well, sir,
- 58:35Speaker 10: they absolutely can. And I got to tell you you
- 58:39Speaker 10: are wrong. You are so wrong when you say we'll
- 58:42Speaker 10: probably side with the woman and say every man needs
- 58:45Speaker 10: a good woman by a side. That little part every woman,
- 58:48Speaker 10: every man needs a good woman by a side.
- 58:50Speaker 1: That part is true.
- 58:51Speaker 10: But I'm actually on your side. I mean I'm on
- 58:55Speaker 10: your side because you've been honest with her. Like you say,
- 58:58Speaker 10: from the very beginning, you told her you didn't want
- 59:02Speaker 10: to get married dot Ever, that's pretty clear and concise
- 59:06Speaker 10: to me. But she, like so many women, went into
- 59:10Speaker 10: this relationship thinking she could change you, and after six
- 59:14Speaker 10: years that has not happened.
- 59:16Speaker 1: She thought that you guys would eventually get married.
- 59:19Speaker 10: She thought that if she acted like your wife, with
- 59:21Speaker 10: the cooking and you know, and all of that, you know,
- 59:24Speaker 10: the wifey things that she was doing, that you would
- 59:27Speaker 10: then see her as your wife, and you'd think it
- 59:29Speaker 10: wouldn't be so bad being with her.
- 59:31Speaker 1: She's cool.
- 59:32Speaker 10: You would then marry her. Well, to me, that's it
- 59:35Speaker 10: in a nutshell. She didn't listen to you. She heard
- 59:38Speaker 10: what she wanted to hear, and I just say, she
- 59:42Speaker 10: may as well leave now, because after six years you
- 59:45Speaker 10: will never give her what she wants, and you know
- 59:47Speaker 10: she wants to be married. You don't even want kids
- 59:50Speaker 10: with her. Like they say when someone tells you who
- 59:53Speaker 10: they are believe them. Don't believe what you want to believe.
- 59:56Speaker 8: Steve Wow, I'm torn in this letter because I understand
- 1:00:02Speaker 8: where the woman's coming from.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: But she didn't listen. She didn't listen.
- 1:00:08Speaker 8: Fifty four year old dude bachelor dating this woman is
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: thirty six, told her I'm a bachelor by choice. I
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: don't want to get married ever. And like you said, Charley,
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: like most women they think they can change a man's mind.
- 1:00:28Speaker 8: I'm gonna do this right here.
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: I'm gonna do that and all this hen and then
- 1:00:31Speaker 7: he'll see write me through me, and then we'll have
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: what we want. Now six years after that, nothing's changed
- 1:00:38Speaker 7: except how she feels about me.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: She then told this man, I've been acting like your wife.
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: I've been doing the cooking and all these wifely duties.
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: We've been spending holidays with me, and she helped you
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: take care of your mother when she was dying.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Then he said, she knows.
- 1:00:54Speaker 8: I love her and I wouldn't want anybody else by
- 1:00:59Speaker 8: my side through thick and thin. Now this is the
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: part where you I want you to hear I don't
- 1:01:04Speaker 8: want anybody else by my side through thick and thin.
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: But then immediately goes but I enjoy being by myself
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: too much to get married.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: I don't want to be with nobody day in and
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: day out, or brother. We all feel that way. We
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: all feel that way on some days. Nowadays, you don't
- 1:01:30Speaker 8: want to be bothered with the person you married. Everybody
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: needs some meat time, except you want your meat time
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: to be all the time.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: See.
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: And this is where we're running into a problem, because
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: I remember the earliest statement he made, I don't want
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: to go through the thick and thin with nobody else.
- 1:01:52Speaker 8: He gonna say something else in a minute that's really
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: triggering too.
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: She wants to have children by me, And I told her, now,
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: this is the good one that would take up too
- 1:02:03Speaker 7: much of my free time.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Boys.
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: You better say it, boy, you better say it, because
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: I got news for you. Them kids gonna take up
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: all your free time.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Yes, whole strong to that one dog, because they are
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: gonna take up time.
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: And but guess what, And he wants to be by
- 1:02:25Speaker 8: himself most of the time now, I told her right
- 1:02:31Speaker 8: when I met her. Now he gets irritated when she
- 1:02:35Speaker 8: get around her friends and family and act like I
- 1:02:37Speaker 8: have cold feet. I'm just taking her for granted. And
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: then I embarrass her right back every time she does it. Now,
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: what he's not telling you is what he does to
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: embarrass her.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: No, no, no, no no.
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: I told you from the beginning, I'm gonna be single forever.
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: Okay, I'm just telling this is going back.
- 1:03:02Speaker 10: We'll have part two of your responds coming up in
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: twenty three minutes after the hour. Today's Strawberry Letters subject
- 1:03:08Speaker 10: It's so amazing to be single.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: We'll get back into it right after this. You're listening

- 1:04:05Speaker 12: today at TMCF dot org.
- 1:04:08Speaker 10: All right, come on, Steve, let's recap today's strawberry letter.
- 1:04:11Speaker 10: The subject is it is so amazing to be single.
- 1:04:15Speaker 8: Well, okay, brouh, I got you, and I hear you,
- 1:04:18Speaker 8: and I'm toring in this letter because both of these
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: people are wrong. Both of these people are wrong, and
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: both of them think they right. Now, let me get
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: a man credit right here. He ain't locked to this room,
- 1:04:34Speaker 8: he told her at the beginning. He fifty fourty thirty six.
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: I'm single by choice. I'm a bachelor. I don't want
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: to ever get married. Boom, proceed with caution, that's what
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: he said. Now here, she does, like Shirley said, with
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: all women they think they can change a man. Man,
- 1:04:50Speaker 8: I'm gonna put this on him. I'm gonna do all
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: these wifey duties.
- 1:04:53Speaker 7: I'm gonna cook, clean, help pay bills, take care of
- 1:04:55Speaker 7: your dying mother with you and all this here, and
- 1:04:58Speaker 7: then you'll fall in love with me and we.
- 1:05:00Speaker 8: Live happily ever after. Well, it's gonna spend holidays with
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: him and all this right here. Then, Yet, and what
- 1:05:07Speaker 8: you're doing working? Because guess what he said, I don't
- 1:05:11Speaker 8: want anybody else by my side through thick and thin, and.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Then he right after that, he negates it.
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: See this, dude, is he go right back to, but
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: I enjoyed being by myself too much to get married.
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: I don't want to be with somebody day in and
- 1:05:27Speaker 8: day out. We all feel that way eventually, eventually we
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: all get to that point. Why not today? And then
- 1:05:36Speaker 8: we go back in love with who we married, and
- 1:05:38Speaker 8: then we're beautiful to be around me. And then you know,
- 1:05:40Speaker 8: a couple months later that and it do it so
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: you know, and and that's why you've not moved in
- 1:05:55Speaker 8: with their girlfriend or vice versa. Now she wants to
- 1:05:58Speaker 8: have children by me, and I told that will take
- 1:06:01Speaker 8: up too much free time. Boy, you ain't never lied
- 1:06:05Speaker 8: about that. I'm talking about. You want something to do
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: something this time consuming, have a baby? Okay, So I
- 1:06:11Speaker 8: agree with you right there.
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Brother.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: I told her that when I met her.
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: So now I get irritated when she gets around her
- 1:06:19Speaker 8: friends and family and act.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: Like I got cold feet or I'm taking her for granted.
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: He said that, I embarrass her right back, and every
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: time she does it, and we'll go a few days
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: without talking now when you say you embarrass her, right back,
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: let me tell you what he doing. I told you
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: this when we mart I told you I ain't never
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: wanted to be married. I told you I ain't want
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: to have kids. I ain't got no cold feet. I
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: don't want to be with nobody day in and day out.
- 1:06:50Speaker 7: That he hurt her.
- 1:06:51Speaker 8: So then they go days without talking, and then she
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: always apologizes first, because she's the one at fault. He's
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: trying to push the barrier. She's wrong for that, she's
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: wrong for trying to get you to change your mind.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: I got all of that.
- 1:07:06Speaker 7: I got you told her that in the beginning, she
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: thought she could work through it and get something on
- 1:07:10Speaker 7: the other end, but she didn't. Then he says, I
- 1:07:13Speaker 7: know y'all are probably sided with the woman to say
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: that every man needs a good woman by his side.
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: And I agree and listen to this part. But I
- 1:07:23Speaker 8: don't think I have to live with that woman or
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: marry her. I've never forced her to stay with me.
- 1:07:30Speaker 8: But now here's the key to this whole letter. But
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: I would be devastated if she left me. But I'm
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: tired of her acting like I'm ruining her life and
- 1:07:43Speaker 8: doing her wrong. This is the most contradictory statement in
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: this entire letter. Also couple that with the one with
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: the I would not want to live my life without her,
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: through any through.
- 1:07:57Speaker 7: Thick and thin.
- 1:07:58Speaker 8: She's the one, you know, And I agree every man
- 1:08:03Speaker 8: needs a good woman. But I don't think I have
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: to live with him. Okay, cool, But here's that. And
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: this is her trump card right here. I've never forced
- 1:08:12Speaker 8: her to stay with me, but I would be devastated
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: if she left me. But I'm tired. See, he keep
- 1:08:19Speaker 8: trying to fix the way he feels. What this young
- 1:08:22Speaker 8: lady should do is do just what he hopes she
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: don't do.
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: Leave.
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: She should leave.
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: Brother, I got what you said, but you keep See
- 1:08:35Speaker 8: you want everything you want without giving anybody anything.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: They want, and you can't have it that way. That's
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: just not life.
- 1:08:45Speaker 7: I got you said up top you didn't ever want
- 1:08:47Speaker 7: to be married. I got you said you didn't won't kick.
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: I got all that.
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: But now when you go through some trouble and and
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: the thick and thing is that, who is is her?
- 1:08:56Speaker 8: When your mama was dying?
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: Who was that?
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: It was her?
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: When you need some love and affection? Who that is her?
- 1:09:04Speaker 7: Now?
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: You talking about you'll be devastated if she leaves. But
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: I'm tired of her acting like I'm ruining her life
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: and doing her wrong. Why can't be single in peace?
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: If they want to, you can't. You can be single
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: in peace, but you don't get to have me and
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: be single in peace.
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: That's the part, man and brouh.

- 1:25:42Speaker 8: sent out their condolences and prayers for the family. It
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: was my father in law, James bridge Is senior who passed.
- 1:25:52Speaker 8: It was Marjorie's dad. Marjorie is a daddy's girl, through
- 1:25:57Speaker 8: and through and through. I've been dreading day and it
- 1:26:00Speaker 8: finally got here. And it has been rough. It has
- 1:26:05Speaker 8: really really been rough. But you know something, man, it
- 1:26:10Speaker 8: was really weird the way it happened because over two
- 1:26:13Speaker 8: months ago in Memphis, they had decided that they were
- 1:26:17Speaker 8: going to do a street dedication on the block that
- 1:26:20Speaker 8: he changed. He put a business on that block, remodeled
- 1:26:24Speaker 8: his home on that block, and everything. He just hired
- 1:26:27Speaker 8: people from the neighborhood. He has a transportation company. When
- 1:26:31Speaker 8: he retired, he turned it over to his son, James
- 1:26:34Speaker 8: Bridges Junior. So over two months ago, long before anybody
- 1:26:40Speaker 8: knew about his passing, they set up this day on Thursday,
- 1:26:47Speaker 8: last Thursday, to rename this street after him in Memphis.
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: Little did we know, and my wife had gone to
- 1:26:57Speaker 8: Memphis on Monday for the funeral of her cousin that
- 1:27:03Speaker 8: she was really really close to. So she left the
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: funeral on Monday and went to the hospital to see
- 1:27:09Speaker 8: her dad and he died that night. I can't even
- 1:27:13Speaker 8: tell you how devastating that was for her. But now
- 1:27:17Speaker 8: keep in mind now, for two months they've been renaming
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: the street James Bridge's Senior off over two months, and
- 1:27:27Speaker 8: that was scheduled for Thursday. So a lot of her
- 1:27:30Speaker 8: family members were in town for Thursday. Excuse me, a
- 1:27:36Speaker 8: lot of people were in town for the funeral of
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: her cousin on Monday, so some of them stayed and
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: then Marjorie's family got the funeral arranged on the same
- 1:27:45Speaker 8: day as the street naming because his wife didn't want
- 1:27:50Speaker 8: to give that away because she thought her husband deserved it.
- 1:27:53Speaker 8: I watched the strength of a woman who has been
- 1:27:57Speaker 8: with a man who's next anniversary would have been July.
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: They would have been married sixty five years. I watched
- 1:28:07Speaker 8: this woman say, we're gonna do this naming for my
- 1:28:10Speaker 8: husband and then we're gonna do his burial funeral. He
- 1:28:13Speaker 8: had a military burier. He was a military man. So
- 1:28:17Speaker 8: Marjorie was supposed to give the welcome address, but she
- 1:28:20Speaker 8: couldn't do it. She wasn't She said, I really can't talk.
- 1:28:23Speaker 8: I want my husband to do it, and she just
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: gave me the mic. And so I stood there and
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: you know what, I said, man, because I've been a lot,
- 1:28:30Speaker 8: I've been to a lot of street namings. Most streets
- 1:28:34Speaker 8: are named after famous people. Most streets are named after athletes,
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: most streets are named after entertainers, and most streets are
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: named after people who have been in politics and have
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: family names in politics. And I was standing, I said,
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: but you know what, this is the first time I've
- 1:28:56Speaker 8: ever been to a street naming that they named after
- 1:28:59Speaker 8: man just cause he was great. And James Bridge's senior man,
- 1:29:03Speaker 8: my father in law, was great. He was just great man.
- 1:29:07Speaker 8: I cannot tell you the things I learned about him.
- 1:29:10Speaker 8: He reminded me so much of my father, minus the
- 1:29:16Speaker 8: drinking and the cussin. If he took them two things out,
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: that was my father, But that was my daddy. Now,
- 1:29:24Speaker 8: my daddy to me was the end all. You couldn't
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: tell me nothing about him. Strong, dedicated, hard working family man,
- 1:29:34Speaker 8: fierce loyal. In all my years of growing up, I
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: saw my father miss one day at work. This man,
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: James Bridge's senior was the same way. This man was such,
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: but he's such. He was a deacon at the church.
- 1:29:53Speaker 8: He bought a church bus, farm me, dropped people off.
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: He was He was a dedicated member. But he was
- 1:29:59Speaker 8: a family man. But this man taught me so much
- 1:30:02Speaker 8: about faith and family. This dude was about it. Man
- 1:30:09Speaker 8: and James Bridge as senior passed three nights before they
- 1:30:16Speaker 8: named the street after him, And I just never met
- 1:30:20Speaker 8: anybody that was more deserving.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: James Bridge is senior in Memphis, Tennessee. Whoo bad man.
- 1:30:27Speaker 8: He worked in the Sheriff's department and I would be
- 1:30:30Speaker 8: with him sometime we go out to the restaurant. This
- 1:30:32Speaker 8: was years ago, you know, we go out to a
- 1:30:34Speaker 8: restaurant and be sitting there and a dude will walk
- 1:30:36Speaker 8: up to him and say, mister Bridges, you don't remember me,
- 1:30:39Speaker 8: but I wanted to thank you. He also works in
- 1:30:41Speaker 8: the He worked in the correction of the department as
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: a sheriff, and normally, man, when you run up into
- 1:30:47Speaker 8: an old inmate, it's gonna be a problem out on
- 1:30:49Speaker 8: them streets because the way they treat him. They would
- 1:30:52Speaker 8: all hug him and thank him for praying for them
- 1:30:56Speaker 8: behind them bars, for encouraging them to get out and
- 1:31:00Speaker 8: do better. He was that type of dude. Because I
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: saw a couple of inmates walk away. I know they
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: was inmates at the time. You can tell they little
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: rough cut cats. Hey man, I was locked up when
- 1:31:11Speaker 8: you was the sheriff, and I got a little tight
- 1:31:13Speaker 8: because i'm you know, I don't know what you're finish
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: say to my father in law, but I'm gonna handle you.
- 1:31:18Speaker 8: If this go left. It never went left. It just
- 1:31:22Speaker 8: showed me so much of who he was and the
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: character as a person. So I just wanted to say
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: that today and we will thank you all for your
- 1:31:29Speaker 8: prayers and your condolences for the family. It was really nice.
- 1:31:33Speaker 8: Marjorie's trying to hold on there. She's hanging there to
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: keep praying for it because grief is rough, but all
- 1:31:38Speaker 8: of you know what that feels like. That then lost
- 1:31:40Speaker 8: somebody that deal that was her first parent, so it
- 1:31:43Speaker 8: was kind of being rough, but we appreciate y'all. I
- 1:31:45Speaker 8: just wanted to say down behalf of the family. So hey,
- 1:31:49Speaker 8: y'all talk to God today because he would absolutely love
- 1:31:52Speaker 8: to hear from you, and I'm sure glad he hears
- 1:31:54Speaker 8: from me and I had it wasn't for God, I
- 1:31:56Speaker 8: would this be too hard Without God.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Please get your relationship with God because.
