- 1:53Speaker 1: First Southern Inspired more than one hundred recipes from My
- 1:57Speaker 1: American Table to Yours. Please the Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 2:03Speaker 1: jar Wells. Hello, thank you for having me, I am
- 2:08Speaker 1: doing good. You know, hey, I think you you got
- 2:12Speaker 1: a damn packed. I spend so much time with you
- 2:14Speaker 1: on the introduction, but I well, first of all, you know, um,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I got to share a kitchen with you several weeks
- 2:21Speaker 1: ago last year in December, and got to watch how
- 2:24Speaker 1: gifted you really are, you know, and how simple you
- 2:28Speaker 1: make something that looks difficult and it really you know,
- 2:32Speaker 1: it really is an art form. And so it's like anything.
- 2:35Speaker 1: You know, if Jordan walks on the floor, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you just gonna say, you know, the king on the floor.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Same thing with Lebron. So I play around in the kitchen,
- 2:45Speaker 1: chef enor Wales, you the king brother. I received that.
- 2:51Speaker 1: You know, hey, it's it's time and time and practice
- 2:53Speaker 1: and practice and practice. But look, you know how to
- 2:56Speaker 1: throw down, so I can even if you do of
- 3:00Speaker 1: the holiday. So I tell what you can do. You
- 3:02Speaker 1: know what it really amazed me was how you able
- 3:05Speaker 1: to take cabbages, you know, And I make this big
- 3:08Speaker 1: announcement alright, I planted my new guarden this weekend. I
- 3:13Speaker 1: put cutecomas down, I put collar greens down, cabbages, Brussels sprouts.
- 3:19Speaker 1: For the very first time, I put us sweeping down
- 3:22Speaker 1: the peppers palapeenia green, yellow bell peppers. I got uh my,
- 3:28Speaker 1: my my husky cherry tomatoes on the back row, along
- 3:31Speaker 1: my beefsteak tomatoes in the back row. And then I
- 3:34Speaker 1: added a row of strawberries back there, and then I
- 3:38Speaker 1: got a row of catalopes and a royal watermelons. So
- 3:43Speaker 1: you know, I'm ready, I'm ready. When when you're yet?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Because the reason the reason I'm bringing up that because
- 3:48Speaker 1: you talk about healthy food living, because that's a good
- 3:50Speaker 1: way to invite yourself into the healthy lifestyle. Because I'm
- 3:54Speaker 1: not buying products that are traditionally buying the store with
- 3:57Speaker 1: some people shot away from because of the fact that
- 3:59Speaker 1: they feel of that there's a lot of pesticides being used.
- 4:03Speaker 1: They're not being they're not being sold to the general
- 4:05Speaker 1: public and a healthy format. And talk about that chef
- 4:08Speaker 1: to Darwells, you know, and one of the biggest keys
- 4:11Speaker 1: is that this is so smart what you what you're
- 4:13Speaker 1: doing with your your space creatively growing it because it's
- 4:17Speaker 1: all about knowing what's in your food. And you know,
- 4:20Speaker 1: we we we we've heard time and time again, well
- 4:23Speaker 1: my my, my, my grandparents, my great grandparents, they ate
- 4:27Speaker 1: this and they live to be eighty ninety years old.
- 4:29Speaker 1: And what's the difference now, It is what's being put
- 4:32Speaker 1: in the food and what's being put on the food.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So when you take time to even start growing your
- 4:38Speaker 1: own urge, your own vestials, now you truly know what
- 4:41Speaker 1: it is that you're cooking and you control what's being
- 4:44Speaker 1: put in it, which ultimately, by doing it long enough,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you chased the outcome of what you're putting in your
- 4:50Speaker 1: body and your family body. There also, it's a it's
- 4:54Speaker 1: it's a lifestyle, and the lifestyle is is how do
- 4:59Speaker 1: we bridge the gett of great food and keeping it
- 5:03Speaker 1: health hunters at the same time. And that's one of
- 5:06Speaker 1: the things that I spent so much time teaching people
- 5:09Speaker 1: only so KidSing them so kids remix, and also how
- 5:14Speaker 1: to do it in the fraction of the time. With
- 5:16Speaker 1: that fraction of the time, what messed over me was
- 5:20Speaker 1: when you did the cabbages. I'm gonna tell you something.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I was sitting over there, you know, because like he
- 5:25Speaker 1: tells you, You'll tell you. I think I could cook,
- 5:28Speaker 1: you know, I can cook all bake until I get
- 5:31Speaker 1: people like him. Then I was like, I'm just staring
- 5:33Speaker 1: going Okay, that's how you really do it. So when
- 5:37Speaker 1: you look at that skills set, just like anything, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 1: it's like shooting free throws if you're an athlete. It's
- 5:42Speaker 1: like you know, running for a touchdown passing if you're
- 5:45Speaker 1: wide receiver and an athlete. Is it something natural? Because
- 5:49Speaker 1: you know your mom was a pastry shell, what did
- 5:51Speaker 1: this talent start to become an honest gift for you
- 5:55Speaker 1: that you wanted to pursue shift your nord wealth? You know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: one of one of the biggest things is my mom
- 6:01Speaker 1: was a patry chef from my father was a chef.
- 6:04Speaker 1: And when my parents made these strategic decision to move
- 6:08Speaker 1: us from Chicago, where I was born and raised the
- 6:11Speaker 1: air love part of my my life, to Mississippi, where
- 6:15Speaker 1: my great grandparents owned two farm land, it was a
- 6:19Speaker 1: bit of a culture shock that I have to tell you.
- 6:22Speaker 1: But what it is stealed in me having the opportunity
- 6:25Speaker 1: to be raised on the farm and and cultivate croc crops,
- 6:31Speaker 1: live stock, the smoke house that my great grandfather used
- 6:35Speaker 1: to smoke hands and turkeys, and oh so amazed and
- 6:39Speaker 1: spending that time in the kitchen with my mother and
- 6:42Speaker 1: father cooking. You know. It wasn't that they were instilling
- 6:46Speaker 1: any Jannardi you need to cook. It was a way
- 6:50Speaker 1: of life because we know food bridges people together in
- 6:54Speaker 1: the community was always migrating around us because our house,
- 6:58Speaker 1: our family was always is known as the cooking family.
- 7:03Speaker 1: And the and the biggest thing was what I loved
- 7:05Speaker 1: about it is the reactions people give when they eat
- 7:09Speaker 1: great food. And that's one of the things that made
- 7:12Speaker 1: me want to gravitate in and going into culinary arts
- 7:16Speaker 1: of life later on, is because the art form of
- 7:20Speaker 1: how it makes people feel when you're cooking something good.
- 7:23Speaker 1: It's just the art of breaking bread, you know, it's
- 7:26Speaker 1: it's a it's a whole ritual around and you think
- 7:29Speaker 1: about it, Hey, when when people are celebrating, Hey we
- 7:32Speaker 1: gotta promotional job. Let's go out to eat weddings, it's
- 7:35Speaker 1: all about the reception, you know, or just having gatherings over.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And that's what really made me fall in love with
- 7:42Speaker 1: cooking was the process of how once I go through
- 7:46Speaker 1: instilling who I am, how it made people react to it,
- 7:51Speaker 1: you know. And it started earlier, right absolutely, when I
- 7:54Speaker 1: look at the talent, because you are a talent and
- 7:57Speaker 1: we know that, especially cable TV and now streaming TV,
- 8:01Speaker 1: have made celebrities out of chefs, and you are a
- 8:04Speaker 1: celebrity chef. Uh. You know, when I represented I represented
- 8:07Speaker 1: many talented people in life, most notally Steve Harvey currently
- 8:11Speaker 1: represent stephen A. Smith. When I would take Steve Harvey
- 8:14Speaker 1: to the Today's Show or Good Morning America or whatever show,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you know, there was a certain reverence. They were excited about, Wow,
- 8:21Speaker 1: Steve's here. And so when I see you on TV,
- 8:25Speaker 1: you're becoming that star that that how you welcomed on
- 8:30Speaker 1: these shows and are you're starting to feel they knew
- 8:33Speaker 1: who I am because you know, when you get on
- 8:34Speaker 1: the stow you just happen to be on the show.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Now you're starting to be on these shows so often
- 8:38Speaker 1: they kind of know who you are, and there's a
- 8:40Speaker 1: certain level of expectations, especially from the producers of these
- 8:44Speaker 1: TV shows. Talk about that change in your brand as well. Yes,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and and over time the brand extremely grown where when
- 8:51Speaker 1: I where we don't have to reach out to these
- 8:55Speaker 1: networks to have me on their shows What's Today, Good
- 8:58Speaker 1: morn America they reach out to They reach out to
- 9:01Speaker 1: much to my team and I and it really feels
- 9:04Speaker 1: good walking on the show and being at a point
- 9:07Speaker 1: in life where the brand and my culinary point of
- 9:11Speaker 1: view speaks for a set, because for so long people
- 9:14Speaker 1: always wonder, Okay, what is his unique style, what is
- 9:17Speaker 1: this his way of cooking? What messages he bringing? And
- 9:21Speaker 1: and and ultimately we know, hey, it's now. Um. It
- 9:24Speaker 1: went from the Shelf of Love to the Family Chef
- 9:27Speaker 1: because it's about showing people how we come together with food.
- 9:31Speaker 1: But with my new book that's coming out that you
- 9:33Speaker 1: that you mentioned earlier, Southern Inspired My American Table, I
- 9:37Speaker 1: am diving into it a lot further and explaining how
- 9:41Speaker 1: our art cuisine, especially from the African American coach to
- 9:46Speaker 1: contribute so much to the American table and what we see,
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, and I even give outside of giving amazing
- 9:54Speaker 1: recipes that I created with my family growing up, and
- 9:57Speaker 1: even it's in rolling over to now with my children,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I didn't get history explaining about like why we use oprah.
- 10:05Speaker 1: You know, oprah is one of those ingredients that's truly
- 10:07Speaker 1: indigenous to the African culture, and ochre is one of
- 10:11Speaker 1: those ingredients or or vestials. They came over when slaves
- 10:16Speaker 1: was brought over because they didn't know where they were
- 10:18Speaker 1: going they went, nor if they were going to have
- 10:20Speaker 1: food to eat. So you know what they did, They
- 10:22Speaker 1: hit the ochre seeds in their braids so when they
- 10:26Speaker 1: came over they were able to plant and start growing
- 10:29Speaker 1: these and ochre is normally used as a thinker for students,
- 10:34Speaker 1: for gumbos and things like that. And these are things
- 10:37Speaker 1: that I talked about and I share in Southern inspired
- 10:41Speaker 1: and while we cook the way we cook and love
- 10:43Speaker 1: the food that we loved. Last year, I grew oprah
- 10:46Speaker 1: in my garden and that's a tough loom plant. That man,
- 10:51Speaker 1: it was like I was like caught off Guard's just
- 10:53Speaker 1: a tough look. The really have to you know, really
- 10:56Speaker 1: have to sauted and slowly. It's not something you just
- 10:59Speaker 1: throw in there because to get it soft you have
- 11:02Speaker 1: to know that background about it. And so because I
- 11:04Speaker 1: was not even by it. And that's the great thing,
- 11:06Speaker 1: like you're talking about, you're talking about the history where
- 11:08Speaker 1: it came from, Why it is the way it is
- 11:11Speaker 1: because of our ancestors used that knew it was a
- 11:14Speaker 1: sturdy crop. I knew what it was purpose because I
- 11:17Speaker 1: love you know, okra and tomatoes. That's my favorite right there.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I'm always had it made. So you know my smarty
- 11:23Speaker 1: pants say, well, you know I got the majors got
- 11:26Speaker 1: some ocra, man, I would not think, Man, it's some
- 11:29Speaker 1: hard oak. And I had to learn and educate myself.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And so even though you can do these gardens, if
- 11:36Speaker 1: you don't know the history, doesn't know the relationship or
- 11:39Speaker 1: what this food is about, it also contempor your success
- 11:42Speaker 1: in the kitchen. And that's what your cookbook is gonna
- 11:44Speaker 1: help us get through. Yes it is. It's so true.
- 11:48Speaker 1: While while making you knowledgeable and giving you the education
- 11:51Speaker 1: of peace on as they say, how do we know
- 11:54Speaker 1: where we're going if we don't know where we came from?
- 11:56Speaker 1: And and seeing the creativity other unique food, even all
- 12:00Speaker 1: the way down to grits, we know, especially when we
- 12:03Speaker 1: think about shrimp and grits. Hey, they had derived from
- 12:05Speaker 1: Charts to South Carolina. But one of the fool things
- 12:08Speaker 1: was the African culture. They were growing. They were growing grits,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and they were growing the weak the barley. You know,
- 12:18Speaker 1: at one point they were producing some of the rice
- 12:22Speaker 1: and everything gilse. They was producing enough props coming out
- 12:26Speaker 1: of South out of South Carolina where it was enough
- 12:29Speaker 1: to aford the United States. That's how much it and
- 12:33Speaker 1: they were important. We were thinking that, Hey, when we
- 12:36Speaker 1: hear about rice, we think about coming out of Asia
- 12:40Speaker 1: and that being the biggest, the biggest import exports. But
- 12:43Speaker 1: at one time, that freaking Carolina gold rice, it was
- 12:48Speaker 1: sweeping the nation where we were, we were supplying those
- 12:52Speaker 1: countries with it. And if we had we possessed such
- 12:56Speaker 1: a scheme where we mastered the art of how to
- 12:59Speaker 1: grow it and grow up phenomenally well and keep it
- 13:02Speaker 1: growing to this day. Right, we'll be right back with
- 13:05Speaker 1: more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now, let's
- 13:13Speaker 1: return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. Now,
- 13:18Speaker 1: when you think about all these things and putting together
- 13:21Speaker 1: a book, because they said it's one hundred recipes, more
- 13:24Speaker 1: than one hundred said, more than one hundred delicious recipes
- 13:27Speaker 1: from my American table to yours. You've been doing this
- 13:30Speaker 1: for a long time. You've done books in the past.
- 13:33Speaker 1: What separates this book from the previous books? And how
- 13:36Speaker 1: did you start Because people have asked me to do,
- 13:39Speaker 1: you know, cookbooks, and I sat down and I started
- 13:42Speaker 1: doing it. It's a lot of want it is. It's
- 13:47Speaker 1: a lot of work I have to this. This has
- 13:51Speaker 1: been probably my my longest project on writing and creating
- 13:55Speaker 1: a book because we've really done it. We really wanted
- 13:58Speaker 1: this to be a master for master for peace that
- 14:02Speaker 1: I created, and of course the differences all of my books.
- 14:06Speaker 1: I put out a total over five different books, and
- 14:12Speaker 1: over the course of those years of creating those books,
- 14:16Speaker 1: one of the things is is I wanted to tell
- 14:20Speaker 1: a story. I wanted to tell the story around creating
- 14:25Speaker 1: these recipes. I wanted to tell the story of how
- 14:27Speaker 1: they were born, what what made him come about? And
- 14:30Speaker 1: being also not to mention, my other books were self published,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and this one is actually I signed a publishing deal
- 14:38Speaker 1: last year, so this one is actually gonna be nationwide
- 14:42Speaker 1: national through Actually I mean he, I mean, you gotta check, y'all,
- 14:45Speaker 1: we gotta check and said, let me said he worked
- 14:52Speaker 1: the hardest ever because they gave a check up from Hey. Hey,
- 14:58Speaker 1: that's that's a motivational a fact we must say. But
- 15:01Speaker 1: the thing is, wasn't the key things when we talk
- 15:04Speaker 1: about money making conversations, as they always say, you don't
- 15:07Speaker 1: have to wait, you don't have to wait for a
- 15:10Speaker 1: seat at the table when you can build your own table.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And I learned that early in the game when I
- 15:15Speaker 1: didn't have a brand, I didn't have a name, but
- 15:17Speaker 1: I was a chef and I had great recipes, and
- 15:20Speaker 1: I didn't have the opportunity to to for a major
- 15:25Speaker 1: publisher pay attention. So I started writing my own coople.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I started sending them through copy editing to make sure
- 15:32Speaker 1: that it was done right. And then after I wrote
- 15:34Speaker 1: those books self published them. I had I got out
- 15:37Speaker 1: of beat the payment and marketed and showed my books
- 15:41Speaker 1: to the point of where I made Barnes and Noble
- 15:43Speaker 1: pay attention to me as a self published author because
- 15:46Speaker 1: I was generating sales. So all those things played played
- 15:51Speaker 1: a major part. And when a major publisher approached me,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I actually had something to bring to the table, show Hey,
- 15:58Speaker 1: if I could do this by myself and my own
- 16:01Speaker 1: man power, imagine what we can do together. And so
- 16:06Speaker 1: so it's true, it's true. It's truly been a blessing
- 16:09Speaker 1: owned on just really just bringing forth this and the
- 16:13Speaker 1: other recipes were recipes in my in my previous books,
- 16:17Speaker 1: were recipes that I learned that I picked up from
- 16:20Speaker 1: traveling around the world and different things, and this book,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Southern Inspired. I really wanted to tap into the roots
- 16:27Speaker 1: of my foundation and the style of cooking. You know,
- 16:30Speaker 1: because a lot of people intend to say when when
- 16:33Speaker 1: you're talking about recipes, and especially from your southea African America,
- 16:37Speaker 1: Oh you you you could sol food? Right? No, I
- 16:39Speaker 1: don't could sol food. And this is the thing. So food,
- 16:43Speaker 1: as I always tell people, so food is American cuisine.
- 16:48Speaker 1: So food is the is the cuisine that the backbone
- 16:52Speaker 1: of America was buil though when when when slaves came over,
- 16:56Speaker 1: they took their they took the culture and their recipes
- 16:59Speaker 1: for African civilization that merged with Western civilization, and hence
- 17:04Speaker 1: this cuisine was born. If you think about it, doing
- 17:07Speaker 1: those times when our cuisine, when we were cooking and
- 17:10Speaker 1: and and feeding our cuisine to the masses as slaves,
- 17:14Speaker 1: it was us in the in the in the plantation
- 17:16Speaker 1: houses cooking. It was our cuisine. But then when that cuisine,
- 17:20Speaker 1: when they realized how great this cuisine he was in
- 17:23Speaker 1: this cuisine had a monetary value around it, it was
- 17:27Speaker 1: stripped away from us. So when you hear if you
- 17:31Speaker 1: see me, a person would say, okay, it's so. But
- 17:34Speaker 1: if you see anyone else that don't look like me
- 17:36Speaker 1: and would be considered American cuisine, which is one and
- 17:39Speaker 1: the same. But it's about the person who's bringing in
- 17:42Speaker 1: the how we create these dishes, and then not about
- 17:46Speaker 1: all the heavy pasioners that say cooking with fat back
- 17:48Speaker 1: and all those different things, these recipes that have been
- 17:52Speaker 1: modified for today's healthy lifestyle. So you can, as they say,
- 17:56Speaker 1: you can have your cake head even too. You know,
- 17:59Speaker 1: when you say American cuisine is a so food, you
- 18:02Speaker 1: automagical thing, high blood pressure, you know, diabetes. We said
- 18:07Speaker 1: so food, American cuisine Automagican field sound white sound, culture
- 18:12Speaker 1: sounds like everything's cooked correctly, you know, measured correctly. And
- 18:17Speaker 1: it really is how people can define your your culture,
- 18:21Speaker 1: defining your eating habits, and and be eating the same thing.
- 18:25Speaker 1: You know, corporates, you know rice, you know, you know
- 18:29Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, because I know I remember,
- 18:31Speaker 1: I remember a long time ago, when I was growing up,
- 18:33Speaker 1: you could go get a chicken pot pie three four
- 18:37Speaker 1: dollar chicken pop, and I remember there was this restaurant
- 18:42Speaker 1: so that same chicken pop pop, but they made it
- 18:44Speaker 1: for twenty dollars, you know, twenty dollars not but that
- 18:49Speaker 1: same chicken poper because you're not You're not gonna change
- 18:52Speaker 1: the inflexibles in there. It's still that chicken and there's
- 18:55Speaker 1: still that broader there. Steal that dope. You went over
- 18:58Speaker 1: the Crockers three four dollars, I went in this restaurant
- 19:02Speaker 1: twenty dollars. It's how you sell it, it's how you
- 19:05Speaker 1: put it. And so in your book, your Teller's eight,
- 19:12Speaker 1: We're gonna do it. We'll understand when a different time period,
- 19:15Speaker 1: Healthy Conscious Eden hundred recipes. Now, we talked about old
- 19:20Speaker 1: crewk we talked about you know what, we ain't talked
- 19:24Speaker 1: about getting this dessert snap. You know you gotta tell
- 19:27Speaker 1: us about what's coming out of the dessert and that
- 19:29Speaker 1: because you're gonna get me mad if you don't start
- 19:32Speaker 1: talking about some dessert. I'm gonna end this phone call
- 19:35Speaker 1: because everybody else I'm the dessert king. Yes, yes, and
- 19:40Speaker 1: I have. Look, there's problem about thirties some different recipes
- 19:45Speaker 1: from from strawberry trifle kades all the way down to
- 19:50Speaker 1: our signature banana. Looksure, look sure a banana putting with
- 19:55Speaker 1: my mom. I'm saying that what I'm saying, she's ain't
- 20:00Speaker 1: look cool, look cool, look cool. See is a bank.
- 20:04Speaker 1: But now the putting guy here, Mr Rob. See, that's
- 20:08Speaker 1: what happ when you're when your mom a pastry, shall
- 20:10Speaker 1: your dad and shell two acres, he's educated, look cool.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't even come to look cool. But now he
- 20:18Speaker 1: has a book. Well, just what we're gonna do when
- 20:21Speaker 1: you when you when the book comes out, it's gonna
- 20:24Speaker 1: come out November first. Correct. Okay, We're gonna do a
- 20:27Speaker 1: Facebook live a series of them, and I'm gonna have
- 20:30Speaker 1: fun with you all that fancy stuff. He's gonna do
- 20:34Speaker 1: the look cool version, look cool version of the pudding.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I would do Rashaw McDonald bag. But now they're putting
- 20:44Speaker 1: slap your mama in the face, and they both gonna
- 20:49Speaker 1: look good, taste good because we're enjoying food. But it's
- 20:52Speaker 1: all in how you deliver the message, correct, it is.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It's all about the messages, all about the message and
- 20:59Speaker 1: the enself and what I tell people. If I can
- 21:02Speaker 1: show you how you can get the same errands though
- 21:04Speaker 1: by using this process and and and have and have
- 21:08Speaker 1: an amazing tasting dish, there's no need to bed it
- 21:12Speaker 1: because this is the thing. It was. It was that tail.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Later on in life, we're cooking, we started doing all
- 21:18Speaker 1: put adding all these extra additives and and over we
- 21:22Speaker 1: over saw now food. If you think about it, when
- 21:24Speaker 1: we originally was cooking, we were using the basis for
- 21:28Speaker 1: bare minimum of fresh earth, spices, granulated sugars, molasses, different
- 21:34Speaker 1: things like that to to get these enriched recipes. And
- 21:37Speaker 1: somewhere along along the lines, we feel that, hey, we
- 21:40Speaker 1: could sub that out and put all this other stuff in.
- 21:43Speaker 1: So this is all about showing you how you create
- 21:46Speaker 1: great food. Well, let's jump and on top of that. Look,
- 21:50Speaker 1: you know, I'm always about putting time back in life
- 21:53Speaker 1: because we got business scheduled. So my biggest model is
- 21:56Speaker 1: showing you how you can create these dishes and on
- 22:00Speaker 1: yourself and the kissing the fris of the time. Because Richelle,
- 22:03Speaker 1: you know, when our grandmothers and mothers used going to kitching,
- 22:06Speaker 1: they're gonna be in the kitchen. It was to the
- 22:09Speaker 1: point that you would be in the so long you
- 22:11Speaker 1: holry summer crowning, you were you instantly thinking to yourself,
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't never want to come because I don't want
- 22:17Speaker 1: to go in the kitchen. But the reason why grandmothers
- 22:20Speaker 1: were going to kitchen and staying the kids and for
- 22:22Speaker 1: hours was to give away for my granddad. That was
- 22:27Speaker 1: That was the relaxing point because going here, I want
- 22:34Speaker 1: this is Southern inspired coming out nowhere first, but you
- 22:37Speaker 1: can't buy pre sale. That book will be available on Amazon, Target,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Bonds and over website. You can go to either book
- 22:43Speaker 1: right now. So it's important to get that out. But
- 22:45Speaker 1: you have a couple of TV appearances coming up. I
- 22:48Speaker 1: want to talk about that. Let's go into that and
- 22:50Speaker 1: they we're gonna get into the new Sold Kitchen that
- 22:52Speaker 1: starts in several weeks and new Chen, New Sold Kitchen remix.
- 22:56Speaker 1: So let's talk about the upcoming TV appearances so we
- 22:58Speaker 1: don't want to miss that, and then new Soul Kitchen. Yes,
- 23:03Speaker 1: um April twentieth, I'll be on the Today Show, um
- 23:07Speaker 1: our Rock and myself. We're gonna be whipping up one
- 23:09Speaker 1: of my kids and myself. See a broker him good people. Now,
- 23:15Speaker 1: this is just a shame. I remember him four years ago.
- 23:18Speaker 1: He was barely getting on my little money making show
- 23:20Speaker 1: that I had, my make conversations, I had the used
- 23:23Speaker 1: he was out there buying this product off of Whole
- 23:26Speaker 1: Food like he was actually selling them and confession that
- 23:29Speaker 1: his product was hot. That was four years ago. Now
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'll be on the show with our broker, you know,
- 23:35Speaker 1: not Mr Roker, not Mr Roker, Al Roker. See, it's
- 23:43Speaker 1: all about supplying demand. Like when you mentioned like my
- 23:46Speaker 1: products hall Cusine supply. I created the demand and the
- 23:52Speaker 1: supply down. I knew it was just the love it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So you'll be on that with our broker and then
- 23:59Speaker 1: withoutter that after After that, I'll be in St. Augustine,
- 24:05Speaker 1: Florida doing the St. Augustine Wine and Food Festival Mother's
- 24:10Speaker 1: Day weekend. And when you go to you cook and
- 24:13Speaker 1: people sample that they pay a fee to come into
- 24:15Speaker 1: the festival, they can just sample different products. How does
- 24:17Speaker 1: that work? Yes, Timpa. When you go to the festivals,
- 24:21Speaker 1: you you you get a risk band. That risk band
- 24:23Speaker 1: normally met you in where you get a chance to
- 24:25Speaker 1: sample all of the signature wins the contathers this year
- 24:29Speaker 1: believe we're gonna have Maker's Mark on deck is one
- 24:32Speaker 1: of the church sponsors. We have Costello wins. That's gonna
- 24:36Speaker 1: that's gonna be in the house and one of the
- 24:38Speaker 1: things you get to experience outside of all of the
- 24:41Speaker 1: signature wines hotails and konyaks Is. We're doing a one
- 24:47Speaker 1: of the opening nights I believe is Thurstday night U
- 24:51Speaker 1: cat Cora, which is an iron chef Amazed and she's
- 24:54Speaker 1: actually Mississippi native as well myself and as serious of
- 24:58Speaker 1: other other chefs. We do on a curated dinner. And
- 25:02Speaker 1: for that dinner, one of the ditches that I'm doing
- 25:05Speaker 1: is actually a shrimp and grits, but ain't doing a
- 25:09Speaker 1: recenting wine route. That's gonna be overlaid over the shrimping
- 25:13Speaker 1: grit cake. And then we take the grits after cooking
- 25:17Speaker 1: them up and fusing with smoke goodle, we let them
- 25:19Speaker 1: cheer with form in the cakes, paint for bread from them,
- 25:23Speaker 1: and then flash frown so they have that nice crispy
- 25:26Speaker 1: crust on the outside, but go on the inside with
- 25:30Speaker 1: the recenting wine route casscading down the sides of the
- 25:33Speaker 1: jumbo shrimp. Those are the things that we're gonna be
- 25:36Speaker 1: doing right there. And then also I'm gonna do a
- 25:39Speaker 1: live cooking segment on the on the cast on the
- 25:44Speaker 1: cat on the cash starn Um, the cash Star a
- 25:48Speaker 1: skillet stage. So and then there I'm gonna make my
- 25:51Speaker 1: signature new Orleans Creole barbecue shrimp. Stop. Man, just stop,
- 25:58Speaker 1: Let's let's move on. See that, See that? See what
- 26:01Speaker 1: he ain't spank for y'all. It's like, you know, it's
- 26:04Speaker 1: like he had the jabbar hook shop on it. No, no,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I couldn't blocked the shot. No I was coming, but
- 26:09Speaker 1: he just whipped me out of the New Soul Kitchen
- 26:12Speaker 1: New Season award winning you have to do in your thing.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I love the fact that now it's really your show. Correct,
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yes it is. Yeah, New Soul Kitching and New Soul
- 26:22Speaker 1: Kitchen remakes. Uh. The difference in the two shows. New
- 26:26Speaker 1: Soul Kitchen is more of the the slow pace and
- 26:29Speaker 1: be like, Okay, we're doing longer recipes and I take
- 26:32Speaker 1: the step by step so that you can either cook
- 26:35Speaker 1: along with me, because normally what I'll do on my
- 26:37Speaker 1: social media page and on Cleo on Cleo's, on my
- 26:41Speaker 1: Cleo TV social media page, what I normally do is
- 26:44Speaker 1: well provide the recipes where you can cook along or
- 26:48Speaker 1: after the show because of the pace and rate that
- 26:50Speaker 1: I cook it, you can go back and follow and
- 26:53Speaker 1: create those dishes. And I love for the fans and
- 26:57Speaker 1: the beers to recreate an antagg me in and man,
- 26:59Speaker 1: they put out some amazing stuff and it just feels
- 27:01Speaker 1: so good inspired and then new soul kisr remix. What
- 27:06Speaker 1: they do is for that fast paced lifestyle. Hey, you're
- 27:09Speaker 1: you're working through the week, you got a family, or
- 27:11Speaker 1: it's just you. That's neverant only you want to come
- 27:14Speaker 1: in with something the quick and fast. I give you
- 27:17Speaker 1: simple ingredients that you can grab from the grocery store
- 27:20Speaker 1: with it up in the fraction at the time against
- 27:22Speaker 1: what you're eating good. You know what you're putting in
- 27:25Speaker 1: your body, the whole nine yards. And if you like
- 27:28Speaker 1: Rachean plints your guarden, you just don't pick from it
- 27:32Speaker 1: as usual. Man, you're a fantastic demand. Your communication skills
- 27:36Speaker 1: are about food. Is like it's as good as you
- 27:39Speaker 1: cook it in the kitchen you make it. You're what
- 27:41Speaker 1: I call consumable conversation. When I watch you talk about food,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm consuming and I'm eating and enjoying it and want
- 27:49Speaker 1: to sit down and really eat what you actually have
- 27:52Speaker 1: talked about. That's the beauty and the gifts of your talent.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Shift to nor Wales Man, and every time you bless
- 27:57Speaker 1: me with the time to talk to you again. My
- 27:59Speaker 1: job now as a friend and also a person that
- 28:02Speaker 1: I believe I've mentored you to certain paths that you
- 28:05Speaker 1: have been since I've been in your life. Let's let's
- 28:08Speaker 1: make this book number one, brother, Let's make this book
- 28:10Speaker 1: number one. Okay. So look, because because the because because
- 28:15Speaker 1: the ride game, you know it blew it blew me
- 28:19Speaker 1: out and blew my mind at the body you broke
- 28:21Speaker 1: down kiss Well you know the thing about you because
- 28:24Speaker 1: you asked me to write it up, and I know
- 28:26Speaker 1: it caught you all guard and just said, wow, you
- 28:29Speaker 1: mean everything you say, absolutely absolutely, and we're gonna take
- 28:33Speaker 1: this to the next level man, and look forward to
- 28:36Speaker 1: seeing your TV. It was so funny. My my wife
- 28:39Speaker 1: the other day, she said, we need to we need
- 28:41Speaker 1: to we need to get to do we need to
- 28:43Speaker 1: do something with chef you. Well, do we have something
- 28:45Speaker 1: we you know, she try to figure out something to
- 28:47Speaker 1: do with you, you know, because your talents are just
- 28:49Speaker 1: so so gifted and so so massively uh liked and
- 28:55Speaker 1: uh and of course you know Keena, your wife, who
- 28:57Speaker 1: I love the death. Your family is awesome. It's a
- 28:59Speaker 1: it's an experience that because you know, it's a package deal.
- 29:02Speaker 1: You know. Sometimes he dad but he did too, and
- 29:06Speaker 1: that's all good. That's all good, that's all good. I
- 29:09Speaker 1: love you, Chef to wales Man. Thank you for coming
- 29:11Speaker 1: on Money Making Conversation master Class. Thank you, my brother.
- 29:14Speaker 1: They're looking forward to many more. Absolutely, if you want
- 29:18Speaker 1: to see or hear this interview, please go to money
- 29:20Speaker 1: Making Conversation dot com. I'm with Sean McDonald. I am
- 29:22Speaker 1: your host. We'll be right back with more money Making
- 29:25Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. You are now tuned into
- 29:30Speaker 1: the Money Making Conversations Minute of Inspiration with Rushan McDonald.
- 29:35Speaker 1: This week I sat down with award winning actor, bestselling
- 29:38Speaker 1: author and entrepreneur He'll Harper. He stopped by and talked
- 29:41Speaker 1: about how his thoroid cancer diagnosis led to his role
- 29:45Speaker 1: as a health and wellness ambassador, teaching everyday people how
- 29:48Speaker 1: to live healthier lives. We believe that a lot of
- 29:52Speaker 1: the root cause of cancer has to do with what
- 29:54Speaker 1: we can put on our skin. Our skin is the
- 29:56Speaker 1: largest organ on our body and if you aided your draconsistent,
- 30:02Speaker 1: your liver, your kidneys have to deal with it. And
- 30:04Speaker 1: they said, the reason why I will never be tested
- 30:06Speaker 1: because the same companies that make the lotions to contain
- 30:09Speaker 1: the illuminum, the petroleums, the paramous and the oils and
- 30:12Speaker 1: all these things the same companies will make that are
- 30:14Speaker 1: all the same companies the drug company, so they're never
- 30:17Speaker 1: going to do a long term study of the effects
- 30:20Speaker 1: of their product. If you want to listen to this
- 30:23Speaker 1: full interview with Heal Harbor, it's available on money Making
- 30:26Speaker 1: Conversations dot com. Now let's return to Money Making Conversations
- 30:31Speaker 1: Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. My next desk is Tiffany Halls.
- 30:36Speaker 1: How are you doing, Tiffany? How are you? Let's get
- 30:40Speaker 1: it all out. You know, what do you do for
- 30:43Speaker 1: a living, Tiffany? Because I thought you're gonna be a
- 30:44Speaker 1: studio with me. I thought so, but they said, you know,
- 30:48Speaker 1: you couldn't make it in I'm not mad at you
- 30:51Speaker 1: because you're my friend. You're my friend. You're my friend.
- 30:54Speaker 1: But tell us about what you have right now with
- 30:56Speaker 1: your career. Um. You know, I am a let's stay
- 31:00Speaker 1: close on attorney UM in Atlanta. Yes, ma'am. Now when
- 31:05Speaker 1: you say that, because you know we've been to view
- 31:08Speaker 1: individual before and you know my whole fear about having
- 31:13Speaker 1: a closing attorney because I signed a bunch of papers.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I've been fortunate to buy a house in my life
- 31:19Speaker 1: and there's a stack of papers. I know nothing about
- 31:22Speaker 1: what I'm signing, but I'm told to sign. So can
- 31:26Speaker 1: you help? I'm sure it's a lot you laughing at me,
- 31:29Speaker 1: and you laughing because you know this is this is
- 31:32Speaker 1: a look that you can people give you all the time.
- 31:35Speaker 1: So there's a lot of trust I have to have
- 31:36Speaker 1: with an attorney like you, So tell us exactly what
- 31:41Speaker 1: are they may be doing the same thing out signed.
- 31:43Speaker 1: What are we signing? So it's not necessarily a lot
- 31:48Speaker 1: of trust that you have to have with the attorney.
- 31:51Speaker 1: It's just you knowing what you are agreeing to as
- 31:55Speaker 1: far as the terms of the actual loan. And so
- 31:59Speaker 1: as a humor or as a buyer, if I'm purchasing
- 32:03Speaker 1: a home, the number one thing that I'm concerned about
- 32:06Speaker 1: is can I afford to purchase this home? Is the
- 32:10Speaker 1: interest rate going to be sufficient enough for me to
- 32:13Speaker 1: be able to make my mortgage payments each month? Um?
- 32:16Speaker 1: And so those are the important factors as a homeowner,
- 32:20Speaker 1: UM that I'm gonna go over with you in detail, like, hey,
- 32:23Speaker 1: this is your note, and on your note, you know
- 32:25Speaker 1: it says your interest rate is three point five and
- 32:27Speaker 1: your principal and interest is this figure. But now on
- 32:31Speaker 1: top of that, we have to add in your s
- 32:33Speaker 1: grows for your taxes, your property taxes, and for your insurance.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And so although your principal and interest is this amount,
- 32:40Speaker 1: your monthly payment will be this amount once we include
- 32:43Speaker 1: those s grows. And so as a buyer, that's the
- 32:46Speaker 1: most important thing because you have to realize that when
- 32:50Speaker 1: a lender is um lending you money, you're not signing
- 32:54Speaker 1: anything in your favor. Everything is always going to be
- 32:57Speaker 1: in the bank's favor. So if we make them of sake,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you will correct it by her um. If something goes on,
- 33:04Speaker 1: you will correct it. If you have done anything fraudulent,
- 33:07Speaker 1: we can't fork close. If you don't pay, we can't
- 33:10Speaker 1: fork close. So all those terms are definitely going to
- 33:13Speaker 1: be in favor of the lender. So it's just important
- 33:16Speaker 1: for you to know what you're comfortable with UH and
- 33:18Speaker 1: what you can afford. And once you figure that out, UM,
- 33:22Speaker 1: the truth is you're either signing the documents to getting
- 33:24Speaker 1: the loan or you're not. You can't negotiate anything. Well,
- 33:28Speaker 1: you know this interesting because we're gonna talk about the
- 33:31Speaker 1: show that your star, the unscripted series on Own Ladies
- 33:34Speaker 1: Who List Atlanta. But one of the reasons I invited
- 33:37Speaker 1: you on my show, the live show on w C. Okay,
- 33:40Speaker 1: let's just talk about it, because sometimes you get lost
- 33:42Speaker 1: in reality and TVs. That's what she does for a living.
- 33:46Speaker 1: She play acting because I really wanted to because I
- 33:48Speaker 1: knew that wasn't the truth and I want to make
- 33:50Speaker 1: sure clarify that. But because you deliver our skill and
- 33:54Speaker 1: U and uh that am I wrong in this saying
- 33:57Speaker 1: that's that not many African American LA female participate as
- 34:01Speaker 1: closing attorneys. Um, there's a there's a handful of us
- 34:07Speaker 1: out here. I wouldn't say that there's not a lot.
- 34:10Speaker 1: There are definitely um enough of us out here. And
- 34:15Speaker 1: and actually it's the area law where you're starting to
- 34:18Speaker 1: see more minorities UM entering this area of law. So back,
- 34:25Speaker 1: you know, five ten years ago, you didn't see as
- 34:28Speaker 1: many African American closing attorneys. But now like I'm literally
- 34:32Speaker 1: seeing them pop up everywhere around Atlanta, around this metropolitan
- 34:37Speaker 1: you know, sitting here. UM, but we're still a minority,
- 34:40Speaker 1: We're still not UM the main person that you see
- 34:45Speaker 1: at the closing table. Um, even in Atlanta, Tiffany. Uh.
- 34:49Speaker 1: You know, this interview is part of answering questions for Rishwan.
- 34:54Speaker 1: And people call it because an experience of how did
- 34:58Speaker 1: you get started? Because you said you can go to
- 35:00Speaker 1: school for this, you know, like I went to college.
- 35:02Speaker 1: You know, I started off as a civil engineer, and
- 35:06Speaker 1: I went over the chemical engineer, and then I went
- 35:07Speaker 1: over to uh, the math and then you got a
- 35:11Speaker 1: degree in math and I minored out and um and
- 35:14Speaker 1: the sociology. Was this what you wanted to do when
- 35:17Speaker 1: you went to college. So when I went to I
- 35:21Speaker 1: went to Savannah State University undergrad and I made a
- 35:25Speaker 1: major that political science and minored in English. And my
- 35:28Speaker 1: goal was to go to law school. Now, at that time,
- 35:31Speaker 1: I had no idea about transactional law. I had no
- 35:34Speaker 1: idea about real estate closing. I didn't even know when
- 35:37Speaker 1: attorney was involved when you purchased the house. It wasn't
- 35:41Speaker 1: until UM when I graduated. I ended up getting pregnant
- 35:44Speaker 1: with my oldest son. And instead of going a law school,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I went and got my pair of legal certificate and
- 35:50Speaker 1: I applied to like a whole bunch of law firms,
- 35:53Speaker 1: and the law firm that called me back was a
- 35:55Speaker 1: real estate closing attorney's office. I got my first job,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and so that was the first time that I was ever,
- 36:01Speaker 1: you know, even aware that there was law associated with
- 36:05Speaker 1: purchasing homes. And that was back in two thousand and six,
- 36:09Speaker 1: two thousand seven. And once I got into that arena
- 36:13Speaker 1: and I started learning the process and how everything went. Eventually,
- 36:18Speaker 1: when I went to law school, it's all I knew
- 36:21Speaker 1: how to practice. And so once I graduated laws at
- 36:23Speaker 1: the bar, I just immediately, um, you know, opened up
- 36:26Speaker 1: my own firm and started doing the residential real estate closing. Now, okay,
- 36:31Speaker 1: now opening your own firm, is that a Is that normal?
- 36:34Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just asking simple questions in my mind,
- 36:37Speaker 1: you know, because that means that you know, you have
- 36:39Speaker 1: from there the word firm. You know, they're all on
- 36:41Speaker 1: TV now. They all got commercials out there, and you know,
- 36:44Speaker 1: they had billboards. It was drong on with the law
- 36:47Speaker 1: and you know Morgan and Logan and you know they
- 36:50Speaker 1: they they they sponsored local news, which is shocking to me.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You know, how you can have a law firm sponsoring
- 36:56Speaker 1: local news. I don't get that. But they do it.
- 36:59Speaker 1: And so how do you compete with all that super
- 37:03Speaker 1: hype that's going on, all this news of dollars as
- 37:06Speaker 1: being spent. How does your firm cut through all that clutter? Um? Well,
- 37:14Speaker 1: I never looked at it as a competition. UM. When
- 37:19Speaker 1: I opened my firm, it was simply because I knew
- 37:23Speaker 1: how to do everything. UM and I paid three hundred
- 37:27Speaker 1: thousand dollars to go to law school. Why am I
- 37:30Speaker 1: going to apply tool law firm make seventy thousand dollars
- 37:35Speaker 1: if that um and then has to work, you know,
- 37:39Speaker 1: my ass off for everyone else. So the goal in
- 37:42Speaker 1: my mind was, No, I did all this work, I
- 37:46Speaker 1: know how to do this, so I'm gonna open up
- 37:48Speaker 1: my own firm. Now I knew how to do all
- 37:50Speaker 1: the real estate stuff, the practice, but when I didn't
- 37:54Speaker 1: know how to do which actually builds UM my business.
- 37:58Speaker 1: And I still at that time wasn't like, oh what
- 38:02Speaker 1: am I gonna do with all these big law firms. No,
- 38:04Speaker 1: I was like, more like, how am I gonna find
- 38:06Speaker 1: my way? What's gonna benefit me? And I found the
- 38:11Speaker 1: power of social media. UM. I have three children, so
- 38:15Speaker 1: it's very hard for me to do traditional networking. UM.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Like going to different places, lunches, shaking hands, getting out cards.
- 38:24Speaker 1: It was very Um, it's difficult for me to um
- 38:30Speaker 1: even kind of like put myself out there being in
- 38:32Speaker 1: front of people like, hey, I just graduated law school.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Here my business cards. But then when I found out that,
- 38:39Speaker 1: like my audience, the people that I want to do
- 38:42Speaker 1: business with with your real estate agents, they're all over
- 38:45Speaker 1: social media and of course they want everyone to know
- 38:48Speaker 1: that they're a real estate agent, so it's easy to
- 38:51Speaker 1: find them, and that became my niche and how I
- 38:55Speaker 1: got my business. Now, I may not be the largest
- 38:59Speaker 1: law firm out years, but the business that I do
- 39:02Speaker 1: is enough for me. It's enough to employ um eleven people,
- 39:07Speaker 1: it's enough to you know, take care of my family.
- 39:10Speaker 1: And so for me, that's enough. There are people out
- 39:14Speaker 1: here with lofty goals of wanting to be you know,
- 39:16Speaker 1: the largest closing attorney, are not even closing attorney any firm. Um,
- 39:21Speaker 1: I just don't have those goals because you know, a
- 39:25Speaker 1: lot of my goals are now to just you know,
- 39:27Speaker 1: pour into my children. Um. So it's just all about
- 39:31Speaker 1: you know, what you want, And I just really never
- 39:34Speaker 1: looked at anybody else to compare myself and what I'm
- 39:37Speaker 1: doing to what they're doing. Now when you when you
- 39:40Speaker 1: look at first of all, when I when I hear
- 39:43Speaker 1: the way you talk, that means that you walk through
- 39:46Speaker 1: a lot of unknown situations with a lot of courage,
- 39:49Speaker 1: because that stops a lot of people. A lot of
- 39:51Speaker 1: people want their dreams to be accomplished, but fear the
- 39:55Speaker 1: not feeling comfortable, not not knowing, hey is a paycheck?
- 39:59Speaker 1: Wait on me? If an idea is gonna work, Who's
- 40:01Speaker 1: supporting me? How did you overcome the fear of the
- 40:05Speaker 1: unknown before we go to break? Well, the big thing
- 40:09Speaker 1: is you just mentioned is support. Um. So I am married.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I have a husband, UM who is a traditional husband
- 40:18Speaker 1: in the sense that he pays all the bills. So
- 40:21Speaker 1: it wasn't a situation where I was, you know, deciding
- 40:26Speaker 1: whether I'm a pay my rent or open up my
- 40:28Speaker 1: law firm. You know, I didn't have to think about
- 40:32Speaker 1: something that some some people have to think about. So
- 40:35Speaker 1: the fear of paying bills and all that stuff that
- 40:39Speaker 1: was removed because the support that I had from my husband. UM.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Now with that support, of course, you still have to
- 40:47Speaker 1: have the focus and the mindset to actually go out
- 40:51Speaker 1: here and get business and and find ways to be successful.
- 40:55Speaker 1: But I honestly couldn't have any of that without the
- 40:57Speaker 1: support of of my family. That is that was that
- 41:01Speaker 1: was paramount and me opening up my law firm. Now
- 41:04Speaker 1: we got two calls for you right now. Are you ready? Okay?
- 41:08Speaker 1: Nikki from Atlanta? How are you doing, Nikki? Hi? Rashon
- 41:12Speaker 1: lating great. We have Tiffany on the call. What is
- 41:15Speaker 1: your call today about? Hi, Tiffany, I'm a realtor as well.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I'm a realtorday night as well. But I'm a realtor
- 41:23Speaker 1: and I just want to give you props because you know,
- 41:26Speaker 1: we do look for closing attorneys that return our calls,
- 41:30Speaker 1: they get the paperwork done on time, that do it right,
- 41:33Speaker 1: have no issues with titles, et cetera. And you must
- 41:36Speaker 1: be doing something right. So I really am calling into
- 41:40Speaker 1: just pat you on the back and say you must
- 41:42Speaker 1: be doing a great job. And I'm gonna look you
- 41:44Speaker 1: up and see you know what's going on, because we
- 41:47Speaker 1: are always looking for a great, great closing attorney. So
- 41:51Speaker 1: I just really want to call in and congratulate you well.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Nissy. Sometimes this industry is crazy.
- 41:58Speaker 1: If you're a real estate agent. Then then you know,
- 42:01Speaker 1: so we're always trying to do, you know, the best
- 42:03Speaker 1: that we can to just make our way through the
- 42:07Speaker 1: craziness of a real estate transaction. So it's always good,
- 42:11Speaker 1: um to get that pat on the back, um, just
- 42:13Speaker 1: to keep us going. You know, real estate is brutal.
- 42:18Speaker 1: It is. I was gonna say, it really is. And
- 42:22Speaker 1: because you're dealing with you know, such a large purchase
- 42:26Speaker 1: them the buyers or sellers can do. You know, it's
- 42:30Speaker 1: just an emotional roller coasters drive. But um, you know,
- 42:36Speaker 1: if you have a good closing attorney that can keep
- 42:39Speaker 1: everybody staying at the table, you know, obviously you're doing
- 42:43Speaker 1: something right. So good job. Well, yes, so at our
- 42:46Speaker 1: clothing table we have Margarita's and wine and so yes,
- 42:55Speaker 1: well you know the thing what she called in Let
- 42:58Speaker 1: me just roll back here a little bit because obviously
- 43:00Speaker 1: by Nikki's response, there are certain there there's different type
- 43:05Speaker 1: of closing attorneys. You try to bring levity and calmness
- 43:08Speaker 1: and celebration to your closes, right, and so now that's different. Now,
- 43:15Speaker 1: what what makes you what makes it good? I may
- 43:17Speaker 1: have asked this, but for having her call in, what
- 43:20Speaker 1: makes a really good closing attorney. UM. The what really
- 43:25Speaker 1: makes a good closing attorney is just the ability to
- 43:29Speaker 1: relate to the party said. Real estate is very emotional.
- 43:35Speaker 1: The sellers are on high emotions. Number one. They may
- 43:38Speaker 1: be selling a home that they have like emotional ties to.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Their kids may have been born there, they may have
- 43:44Speaker 1: lived there for several years, and so although they may
- 43:47Speaker 1: be walking away with a check, it's still a very
- 43:50Speaker 1: anxious and emotional time for them and for the buyers.
- 43:55Speaker 1: You know, getting financing for a home is not easy.
- 43:58Speaker 1: You go through a lot of ups and downs. The
- 44:00Speaker 1: lenders take you through hell and back just to get
- 44:04Speaker 1: the money, you know, to buy your home. So a
- 44:06Speaker 1: lot of times, once you get to the closing table,
- 44:09Speaker 1: you're honestly exhausted. Now, you know, I have to bring
- 44:13Speaker 1: you from that point of exhaustion to now realizing that
- 44:17Speaker 1: this is a happy occasion for you. Let's celebrate home ownership, UM.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Let's celebrate the ability to purchase homes and sell them
- 44:26Speaker 1: and create wealth for our families. And that's really what
- 44:30Speaker 1: separates me apart from other attorneys, just my ability to
- 44:35Speaker 1: relate to people on all levels. You know, I close
- 44:38Speaker 1: your standard buyer and seller are closed, celebrities are close athletes, um,
- 44:44Speaker 1: and you just gotta come to people where they are.
- 44:46Speaker 1: And when people know that you can relate to them,
- 44:49Speaker 1: it just makes for an easier transaction. We'll be right
- 44:52Speaker 1: back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with ru Sean McDonald. Now,
- 45:00Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald.
- 45:05Speaker 1: You are articulate, you have three kids. Do you have
- 45:08Speaker 1: a husband who as your back your employee? Loving people?
- 45:11Speaker 1: You are very busy. I'm sure you do a lot
- 45:14Speaker 1: of speaking engagements. How do you have time to do
- 45:18Speaker 1: a television show on own? It call that entitled Ladies
- 45:21Speaker 1: Who Listed Atlanta? How did that come about? Tivity? Because
- 45:25Speaker 1: your schedule scenes pretty robots. My stentile is definitely busy,
- 45:32Speaker 1: but a lot of my schedule is surrounded with real estate. Um.
- 45:39Speaker 1: The show is a real estate show. And so this
- 45:43Speaker 1: is not you know, real Househoves of Atlanta or um
- 45:48Speaker 1: any show like that where I would have to actually
- 45:50Speaker 1: change the trajectory of my life. This is about real
- 45:54Speaker 1: estate and it's in my life. It's surrounded if I
- 45:57Speaker 1: real estate, so it was an easy thing for me.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Is not basketball wife, you know? It's not all that
- 46:02Speaker 1: over there, you know, all over that, And we're not
- 46:04Speaker 1: saying anything negative about Real Housewives of Atlanta. What she's
- 46:07Speaker 1: saying is that she was invited to come on the
- 46:10Speaker 1: show that aligned yourself with her career in her background
- 46:14Speaker 1: what she does real estate, So it wasn't like a
- 46:17Speaker 1: fictionalized role or character she had to play or scripted. Basically,
- 46:22Speaker 1: they're kind of like recording what you do for a living, correct,
- 46:26Speaker 1: correct exactly. The unincorporated a lot of my family with
- 46:32Speaker 1: as well, and so it was just something that would
- 46:35Speaker 1: aligned with my lifestyle. Now, with that being said, are
- 46:38Speaker 1: you enjoying being no, no, being uh notice on the
- 46:43Speaker 1: streets being what is that and what is that participation
- 46:47Speaker 1: in the TV show done for your brand? It's a
- 46:52Speaker 1: little weird for me when I go in two public
- 46:55Speaker 1: cases and people know who I am and they're like,
- 46:58Speaker 1: oh my god, there's a they don't do that tiff
- 47:02Speaker 1: They'll do the oh my god, dude, oh my god,
- 47:06Speaker 1: I'm just Tiffany, or they want to take pictures and
- 47:08Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I'm just I'm just Tippany. I'm nobody.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'm nobody's special, and you know, I'm just you know,
- 47:14Speaker 1: just a regular person. Well, I'm gonna tell you this,
- 47:17Speaker 1: you're not a regular person because people want to call
- 47:20Speaker 1: and talk to you on my show. We got another call,
- 47:22Speaker 1: if you're ready for another call? Sandra Soandrop from Atlanta.
- 47:25Speaker 1: How you on, Sandra, You're on the call with Tiffany Halls,
- 47:28Speaker 1: the very humble who doesn't like getting notory g brought
- 47:32Speaker 1: to in public? Oh my god, it's Tiffany. Oh my god, Sandra.
- 47:37Speaker 1: What is your question for the humble? And you know,
- 47:42Speaker 1: regularly regular, regular, regular Tiffany? Can you guys hear meal
- 47:48Speaker 1: a little? But I love the show she was on.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I love her spirit. She's beautiful and God is gonna
- 47:54Speaker 1: always continue to bless her in her family. But I
- 47:57Speaker 1: had one quick question. I'm kind of embarrassed about the question,
- 47:59Speaker 1: but I'm an act. Is it I've always rinched almost
- 48:04Speaker 1: sixty years old. If the age factor a factor is
- 48:10Speaker 1: first time hold ownership, absolutely not. In fact, the benefit
- 48:17Speaker 1: of actually purchasing a home as you get older is
- 48:20Speaker 1: that in some counties, like when your large metro counties,
- 48:24Speaker 1: they have senior exemptions for taxes where you don't have
- 48:29Speaker 1: to even pay the school taxes on your tax bill,
- 48:33Speaker 1: and that is um the majority of the tax bill.
- 48:37Speaker 1: So if your tax bill is four thousand dollars and
- 48:40Speaker 1: you get the senior exemption, your tax bill may go
- 48:44Speaker 1: down to five hundred dollars. And so now instead of
- 48:47Speaker 1: s growing um based on a four thousand dollar tax bill,
- 48:51Speaker 1: you're now s growing based on a five hundred dollar
- 48:54Speaker 1: tax bill, So your payment is even lower. So there's
- 48:58Speaker 1: tons of benefits for purchasing, you know, at home, even
- 49:03Speaker 1: if you're not young, you still have the ability to
- 49:07Speaker 1: purchase something for your family. Yeah, okay, Because I had
- 49:11Speaker 1: thought about homeownership and then I felt like, well, I'm
- 49:15Speaker 1: too old home. But anyway, and I was thinking, well,
- 49:20Speaker 1: maybe I can get something and putting me in my
- 49:23Speaker 1: daughter's name, and would that be a something to consider
- 49:27Speaker 1: because I know as time go on and and she
- 49:29Speaker 1: could just have it or however and just we both
- 49:32Speaker 1: have our names on the deed. Is that a possibility?
- 49:35Speaker 1: So let me just change your son, get that home
- 49:39Speaker 1: in your name. It's called a will, you know, get
- 49:41Speaker 1: a will, get a will, live your life, Gusto. You know,
- 49:46Speaker 1: that's one thing I was getting on black people, African
- 49:48Speaker 1: Americans about you are a special person first of all,
- 49:53Speaker 1: age and not be an excuse. Did anybody listen to me?
- 49:56Speaker 1: Do not if you're seven years old you want to
- 49:58Speaker 1: buy a house by and you able to buy, ninety
- 50:01Speaker 1: years old, if you look at the house while you
- 50:03Speaker 1: roll it down the street and you're able to buy
- 50:05Speaker 1: and go by, Because that's what life is about. A
- 50:08Speaker 1: life is about. Adventure is guaranteed. Come on, Tiffany, wrap
- 50:13Speaker 1: it up. Tim you you're the motivator. Come on different
- 50:15Speaker 1: each other, tell them saying, Okay, something else can something
- 50:22Speaker 1: can happen to you at that young age. Um, I'm
- 50:25Speaker 1: totally in agreement. Don't ever let age stop you from
- 50:28Speaker 1: doing anything any day that you wake up living in
- 50:31Speaker 1: a day worth going after what you want in life.
- 50:35Speaker 1: You hear that sounds yes, don't do don't anyway. I
- 50:40Speaker 1: like her from the show Chilled. You don't like a
- 50:45Speaker 1: lot of bes. I'm like, and when we got heard
- 50:48Speaker 1: her on the radio, I'm like, I gotta figure out
- 50:50Speaker 1: how to call it that. I have to figure this out. Well,
- 50:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna teach some some I'm gonna slow you down
- 50:58Speaker 1: before you say a word on my little show. They
- 51:00Speaker 1: get me taken off that you already said the word
- 51:02Speaker 1: that be as we can't get with no farther than that. Okay,
- 51:05Speaker 1: sound Sundra, listen to me. Now you're special, okay, and
- 51:10Speaker 1: it's a blessing. You have a daughter you can share
- 51:12Speaker 1: this opportunity with if you can get you know, you
- 51:15Speaker 1: already got the closing attorney. She's the real deal. That's
- 51:18Speaker 1: Tiffany Halls. Okay. So go out there and find that home.
- 51:22Speaker 1: You know it might be a little tight right now
- 51:24Speaker 1: because home mortgages are inching up, and they're doing that
- 51:27Speaker 1: to slow down home purchases. You know, that's what they
- 51:30Speaker 1: do when their inflation. They raised the interest rate. That's
- 51:32Speaker 1: how they bring prices down because everything is available. It's
- 51:35Speaker 1: kind of weird how they do. They They make you
- 51:37Speaker 1: spend money so you can stop spending money. That's how
- 51:40Speaker 1: inflation works. The battle left. But it shouldn't stop you
- 51:43Speaker 1: from going out there, taking your time. It doesn't have
- 51:45Speaker 1: to be a big home, just a home that you love.
- 51:48Speaker 1: But one thing for sure, I'm gonna give you this advice.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Whatever home you want to buy, go by there in
- 51:53Speaker 1: the daytime, go by there at noon, go by there
- 51:57Speaker 1: at night, go by there on the weekends. Because your neighbors.
- 52:01Speaker 1: What you can't pick as your neighbors want you buy
- 52:04Speaker 1: at home. That's who you got on the left and
- 52:06Speaker 1: the right and in front of your in behind you.
- 52:08Speaker 1: So take your time. It might be a cute little house,
- 52:11Speaker 1: but make sure who you living next to is somebody
- 52:15Speaker 1: that you want to be next to. Is that correct, Tiffany?
- 52:18Speaker 1: That is definitely because you cannot change your neighbors. Absolutely,
- 52:24Speaker 1: So thank you for calling in. We're about to wrap
- 52:26Speaker 1: up this show, and I appreciate you. Still a fan
- 52:29Speaker 1: of her? Okay of hers? Okay, so yeah, I will.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I can't wait till the next show come on? When
- 52:34Speaker 1: are they coming? She's on the own network? Ladies who
- 52:38Speaker 1: list Atlanta or Tiffany. I'll tell you something. We were
- 52:41Speaker 1: wrapping up the show here, yeah, and blew up my phone.
- 52:44Speaker 1: People calling in want to know what's going on. That
- 52:46Speaker 1: means that you bring something, some great quality of life.
- 52:49Speaker 1: And I want to appreciate you for coming on my
- 52:50Speaker 1: show and hopefully come back. But this time you're being studios.
- 52:54Speaker 1: We have a lot of fun. Yes, sounds good to me.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Just connect with me being Emil and let's make that happen. Okay.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I appreciate you and stay safe. Tell your husband high
- 53:03Speaker 1: for allowing me a few times in the afternoon, and
- 53:06Speaker 1: your children stay blessed. Alright, Tiffany, alright you Oh, definitely, definitely,
- 53:11Speaker 1: And I want to tell everybody who listened to Money
- 53:13Speaker 1: Making Conversation again. Sandra called in on the show about age.
- 53:19Speaker 1: We let we allow that limit and limits us so
- 53:21Speaker 1: much and what we want to do in our lives.
- 53:23Speaker 1: We get thirty, we think we not not in in,
- 53:26Speaker 1: we're not inspired to do anything. Forday, we start regretting
- 53:29Speaker 1: our life. Fifty we're trying to run the retirement. There's
- 53:32Speaker 1: no such thing that there's nothing to run to. Look
- 53:35Speaker 1: in the mirror, everybody, you can be whatever you want
- 53:37Speaker 1: to be, as long as you want to put forth
- 53:39Speaker 1: the effort to be that person that you want to be.
- 53:42Speaker 1: UM with Sean McDonald host the Money Making Conversation Masterclass.
- 53:45Speaker 1: See you next week. I'll talk to you next week.
- 53:47Speaker 1: You've been listening to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan
- 53:51Speaker 1: McDonald Always remember to lead with your gifts. Money Making
- 53:55Speaker 1: Conversations master Class is a presentation of Thy fifteen Media Incorporated.
- 54:02Speaker 1: You are now tuned into the Money Making Conversations Minute
- 54:06Speaker 1: of Inspiration with Rashan McDonald. This week, I sat down
- 54:09Speaker 1: with veteran Hollywood movie producer and farmer music executive James Lopez.
- 54:14Speaker 1: James talked about going from working on the job he
- 54:16Speaker 1: enjoyed to discover his true gifts to be involved in
- 54:21Speaker 1: film intelligion. There were no examples for us. I had
- 54:25Speaker 1: no idea what a producer did. I didn't know that
- 54:28Speaker 1: there were people behind the scenes predominantly called casey. So
- 54:33Speaker 1: I just took the natural route into music because there
- 54:36Speaker 1: were several examples that we as black naked point to,
- 54:39Speaker 1: and then getting involved in soundtrack. In the music business,
- 54:43Speaker 1: I started interacting with studio executive and producers, and then
- 54:48Speaker 1: I started to get exposed to the possibility of where
