- 2:28Speaker 1: show in two thousands seventeen it was may have two
- 2:31Speaker 1: thousand seventeen. I've done over five hundred individual interviews. Now
- 2:35Speaker 1: you can hear all of those interviews on my YouTube

- 2:44Speaker 1: YouTube channel and then search money Making Conversations and I
- 2:48Speaker 1: have roughly two hundred interviews up currently, so I guess
- 2:51Speaker 1: the next couple of months I will be completed with it,
- 2:55Speaker 1: complete with the entire library by the end of the the
- 2:57Speaker 1: end of April, and when I have I have a
- 3:00Speaker 1: cocking up into categories celebrities and music, celebrities and entertainment,
- 3:03Speaker 1: TV directors, authors, chefs, cookbooks and restaurant tours, UH, industry
- 3:08Speaker 1: decision makers and in legal, marketing and branding. All these
- 3:13Speaker 1: things like ten different categories or playlists or if you
- 3:17Speaker 1: have an interest in that area, just click the playlist
- 3:20Speaker 1: and just scroll through the different interviews I've had over
- 3:23Speaker 1: the years art and then that way you can listen
- 3:26Speaker 1: to an interview. I'll give your options, not just one
- 3:29Speaker 1: like for right now currently in the Celebrities Entertained, but
- 3:31Speaker 1: I currently have forty two different interviews uploaded in Celebrities
- 3:36Speaker 1: and Entertainment. Al have a section for sports. So I've
- 3:39Speaker 1: all these sections broken down. I'm really happy. I was
- 3:42Speaker 1: so proud of my team putting that together because just
- 3:45Speaker 1: seeing a you know, someone told me the other day
- 3:47Speaker 1: they reminding them of a ted X website where they
- 3:49Speaker 1: can go there and just hear different people motivational type speak,
- 3:53Speaker 1: speaks um in different areas. And so I'm ver excited,
- 3:56Speaker 1: just like I'm excited to have my next guests. Who's
- 3:59Speaker 1: on the car. She's a repeat, she has a big
- 4:01Speaker 1: event coming up. I'm gonna drop a special show for
- 4:04Speaker 1: her because she deserves it. She's my She's my girl.
- 4:08Speaker 1: My next guest is a celebrity beauty expert, branding strategist, mentor,
- 4:12Speaker 1: motivational speaker, author, entrepreneur with twenty years of experience. This
- 4:16Speaker 1: beauty and branding experts, work and products have been featured

- 4:25Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making conversation again, Colleen or Taro
- 4:30Speaker 1: Hi doing did that? Did I roll it off? Right there?
- 4:36Speaker 1: You know you got the you know you trained me
- 4:41Speaker 1: last time. Reservice, get that all right? Tarror? Tarror, just
- 4:46Speaker 1: trying to do my thing. I'm just happy it really
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's it's great because then lets me know that life
- 4:51Speaker 1: is treating you well and and you work hard. You
- 4:54Speaker 1: work hard, you reserve success because you are a person
- 4:56Speaker 1: that understands the value of what hard work is. Eyes
- 5:00Speaker 1: tied to your dream or tied to your your goals,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and a lot of people don't don't get that. Why
- 5:05Speaker 1: is that? Yeah, it's it's a huge part of planning
- 5:11Speaker 1: and strategic planning and getting the wisdom that we need
- 5:16Speaker 1: and keeping our goals, you know, in mind with everything
- 5:19Speaker 1: that we do, it's it's it's really just reverse engineering it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: We have these goals, we have the things we want
- 5:25Speaker 1: to see accomplish, and then you know, we have to
- 5:27Speaker 1: go back. We got to go back and start from
- 5:29Speaker 1: the beginning. You know, we gotta go back and paint
- 5:32Speaker 1: that picture and and run the play right that's important.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So with that being said, when I look at your resume,
- 5:40Speaker 1: it's so much energy, is so much pay it forward?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Is paying it forward? It's such a big part of
- 5:45Speaker 1: your career. What is what is your gift or passion
- 5:48Speaker 1: or some people make it a separation, but some people
- 5:51Speaker 1: combine them. But what is your gift for passion? You know?
- 5:54Speaker 1: I build people. I realized that, you know, I am
- 5:59Speaker 1: natural lead, someone that pushes hope um. To remind people
- 6:04Speaker 1: that they're more than what meets the eye, um. And
- 6:07Speaker 1: to to really understand how to navigate and move their life,
- 6:11Speaker 1: and to to build around their strength. You know, I
- 6:14Speaker 1: realized successful people all have weaknesses. However, it's not their focus.
- 6:19Speaker 1: They focus on the things that they're strong at. They
- 6:21Speaker 1: focus on the things that slow naturally through them, and
- 6:24Speaker 1: they build around those things. And they're constantly learning and
- 6:29Speaker 1: perfecting and and understanding the craft and the gift that
- 6:32Speaker 1: they have. And so for me, building people, Uh was it,
- 6:36Speaker 1: you know, from beauty going into beauty industry From the
- 6:39Speaker 1: time I was so young, you know, I I just
- 6:42Speaker 1: knew I wanted to use my hands to make things
- 6:46Speaker 1: look better. So whether it was designing things around the house,
- 6:49Speaker 1: or doing my mother's hair or you know, whatever it was.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I just love to make things beautiful. I love to
- 6:56Speaker 1: make women feel good about themselves. And so it just streams,
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, grew from there. It just continued to grow.
- 7:03Speaker 1: My gifts grew from there and it turned into more
- 7:05Speaker 1: speaking life, it turned into helping women with their brands.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It's whatever it is. It's about building and building with purpose. Well,
- 7:13Speaker 1: the will continue to do it. Now. The thing about
- 7:16Speaker 1: it is that I always talking about a balance life.
- 7:18Speaker 1: And in your resume, you know, your bio is this,
- 7:21Speaker 1: this just sticks out a wife, mom to four boys
- 7:26Speaker 1: and a bonus stepdaughter. That's you know, the fact that
- 7:30Speaker 1: you have that in your bio means that's important in
- 7:34Speaker 1: your life, which means you have a sense of balance.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Talk to me about that. Yeah, absolutely, I'm telling you
- 7:41Speaker 1: that's one of the hardest jobs is motherhood and you know,
- 7:47Speaker 1: being a wife going on twenty years this year, and
- 7:52Speaker 1: it's not easy for sure that but it's again something
- 7:55Speaker 1: that is a focus. It's it's a priority. Um each
- 8:00Speaker 1: that balance is really a myth and it's something that
- 8:03Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily exist. We have to just learn how to
- 8:06Speaker 1: prioritize and read, prioritize, and including my family because I
- 8:12Speaker 1: want them to understand what entrepreneurship looks like, what legacy
- 8:15Speaker 1: living looks like, and making sure they understand what mommy
- 8:18Speaker 1: does in business and how it looks and so even
- 8:22Speaker 1: I have an event coming up. My son is in
- 8:24Speaker 1: town for spring break, so he'll be there setting up,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you know, with dad and them seeing what that looks
- 8:31Speaker 1: like when we we build something out that other people
- 8:34Speaker 1: can come and make a transaction like giving you money
- 8:39Speaker 1: to do what it is that you do. I want
- 8:41Speaker 1: them to see what that looks like. I don't want
- 8:42Speaker 1: them to hear about it. So they're very much included
- 8:46Speaker 1: in in our lifestyle. I don't want them to feel like,
- 8:49Speaker 1: you know, entrepreneurship is something that is so hard and
- 8:54Speaker 1: and difficult to do, and and I want them to
- 8:57Speaker 1: be able to understand that they were born into it
- 9:00Speaker 1: and it's in their blood, it's in their veins, and
- 9:02Speaker 1: that they can create and dominate. Well, that's important to me.
- 9:06Speaker 1: You know. I think that I'm writing a book is
- 9:09Speaker 1: going to come out in January next year, and I
- 9:12Speaker 1: talked about mentorship. That's what you're talking about, having people
- 9:15Speaker 1: around you pushing confidence pushing opportunity, pushing the belief that
- 9:19Speaker 1: you that that a dream can become a reality. And
- 9:23Speaker 1: I remember when I was fifteen years old, Um, you
- 9:26Speaker 1: know my first job that my father, he was a
- 9:27Speaker 1: truck driver, that's what he did for it, that was
- 9:29Speaker 1: his career. My first job he gave me a fifteen
- 9:32Speaker 1: was I was unloading trucks, you know, And so those
- 9:36Speaker 1: are my as far as male figures, that was my
- 9:38Speaker 1: first level of male figures outside of my dad or
- 9:42Speaker 1: my school teachers. And uh, they so put an impression
- 9:46Speaker 1: on me, you know, unloading boxes and forklift driving. That
- 9:50Speaker 1: when I got out of high school, that's all I
- 9:51Speaker 1: wanted to be. I wanted to be a forkliff driver.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And guess what, I got a job as a forklift driver.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And so despite the academics, and I eventually just snapped
- 10:01Speaker 1: and got right and went to college and my degrees
- 10:03Speaker 1: and and not not saying that there was nothing bad
- 10:06Speaker 1: about me making that charge, but sometimes we can settle
- 10:09Speaker 1: based on our environment because we don't see nobody's offering
- 10:12Speaker 1: us the opportunity to be more than that that dream
- 10:14Speaker 1: that we've that we first encountered, and that's all you're saying,
- 10:18Speaker 1: and so I I was. I was so affected by that,
- 10:21Speaker 1: despite people telling me you can be more, despite people
- 10:24Speaker 1: telling me you can go to college, I just knew
- 10:27Speaker 1: there was a path that I understood, and these guys
- 10:30Speaker 1: told me it was living in such a great life
- 10:32Speaker 1: living it. I said, what's wrong with that? Let me
- 10:34Speaker 1: go do it. Even though I was capable of doing more,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I was capable of affecting the world more. And I
- 10:40Speaker 1: eventually got my degree in mathematics with my minders and sociology,
- 10:44Speaker 1: because if we are surrounded by people who don't push us,
- 10:48Speaker 1: don't challenge us, don't let us know that, let us
- 10:52Speaker 1: understand that hard work comes with effort, and if it
- 10:54Speaker 1: comes with being consistent and consistently create relationships that can
- 10:58Speaker 1: expand alone, that's your whole game of brand strategy, that's
- 11:02Speaker 1: your whole game of marketing. Correct Absolutely, exposure is key,
- 11:08Speaker 1: um connectivity is key, authenticity is key. All all of
- 11:13Speaker 1: those things really play a role and being able to
- 11:16Speaker 1: build a brand that can transcend for generations. And it
- 11:21Speaker 1: comes down to that right there. And I love what
- 11:24Speaker 1: you talked about that representation and what we have in
- 11:26Speaker 1: our life, and so we we do tend to have
- 11:29Speaker 1: limited beliefs based on what what we've seen growing up
- 11:33Speaker 1: and the things that we have experienced in life, and
- 11:37Speaker 1: so exposure again is key in order for there to
- 11:40Speaker 1: be changed, like you know, in our mind and how
- 11:42Speaker 1: we think and what we believe UM we are allowed
- 11:45Speaker 1: to experience or walk into or the type of success
- 11:49Speaker 1: that we are allowed to have in order for our
- 11:51Speaker 1: brain to even comprehend that, it needs to be exposed
- 11:54Speaker 1: to new information. There can be no change without new information,
- 11:58Speaker 1: without new data about in putting something new and so
- 12:02Speaker 1: pushing that UM for me is just so key. You know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: we have a mentorship program. We have a nonprofit on
- 12:09Speaker 1: where we focus on young entrepreneurs from seventeen to twenty two,
- 12:13Speaker 1: I was sixteen, graduating high school, going right into entrepreneurship
- 12:17Speaker 1: without any mentors. And and that I'm really doing that
- 12:22Speaker 1: to to cater to that that young girl just like
- 12:25Speaker 1: me that says I know there's more for me. I
- 12:27Speaker 1: just don't know how to do it. I'm so talented,
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm so gifted, but I just don't know how do
- 12:34Speaker 1: I set up, you know, systems. I talk about having
- 12:37Speaker 1: the ability of having a brand and not having a
- 12:39Speaker 1: business and that's what we see. We see so many
- 12:42Speaker 1: people that are popular, so many people that have a
- 12:45Speaker 1: fan base, and they don't know how to monetize it.
- 12:48Speaker 1: I work with influencers that they can't get a T
- 12:50Speaker 1: shirt off the ground. It's like, you know, so understanding.
- 12:54Speaker 1: It's they can have millions of followers and zero dollars,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and so the under standing how to set up a business,
- 13:02Speaker 1: how to monetize your gifts and your talent, having the
- 13:05Speaker 1: mentorship and coaching, it's key. Exposure is key. Well, you know,
- 13:10Speaker 1: the thing about it is that when I look at
- 13:12Speaker 1: your the thing about that just I love about you
- 13:16Speaker 1: is that you don't mind letting everybody knows your your
- 13:21Speaker 1: journey has not always been up there. And I think
- 13:25Speaker 1: it's important to show flaws because I think people listen
- 13:28Speaker 1: better when you're willing to admit your flaws. Because you
- 13:30Speaker 1: talk about lost four homes, three cars to businesses and
- 13:34Speaker 1: was forced to move in with family after two years,
- 13:37Speaker 1: rebuilt your business as a brand creator and business coach.
- 13:42Speaker 1: When you were when those losses were one down then
- 13:46Speaker 1: to down? What what was your support system? What kept
- 13:49Speaker 1: your float emotionally? Where was that support system that helped
- 13:52Speaker 1: you out oh that my my faith and my husband.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I mean, it was it was like us against the
- 13:59Speaker 1: world at that point, you know, and just really staying
- 14:02Speaker 1: focused on our belief in God and that if he
- 14:06Speaker 1: did it before we were so young and experiencing success,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I truly believe before we really comprehend, you know, where
- 14:14Speaker 1: we were and really had a full understanding of what
- 14:18Speaker 1: we had in our hands at the time. And so
- 14:21Speaker 1: I kind of think that we just it happened so quickly,
- 14:24Speaker 1: so fast, you could almost compare it to the lot
- 14:26Speaker 1: of you know, It's almost if our intellect and the
- 14:31Speaker 1: things that we we, what we know now and what
- 14:35Speaker 1: we knew, then things would have gone so totally different.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And so I have no regrets about it. But what
- 14:41Speaker 1: truly kept us was our our confessions, our now There
- 14:46Speaker 1: were times that I ain't want to talk to him,
- 14:49Speaker 1: and I am like, it's not to not get out
- 14:51Speaker 1: my face. Every day. Wasn't just you know, quoting scriptures
- 14:56Speaker 1: and praying there shut up. Had to straight up shut
- 15:01Speaker 1: up some days because I just knew I was so upset,
- 15:05Speaker 1: I was so disappointed, I was so hurt to be
- 15:08Speaker 1: in that financial state. But I also knew it was temporary.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And and though it took us years to recover. Though
- 15:15Speaker 1: it took us time um to put things back into position,
- 15:19Speaker 1: because we we looked at it and said, we got
- 15:21Speaker 1: away from some of the things we we believed in.
- 15:24Speaker 1: We took on way too much that we were house
- 15:27Speaker 1: rich and cash poor, and so we we took on
- 15:29Speaker 1: way too much over our heads with it and living
- 15:33Speaker 1: this lifestyle and being the top givers out our church
- 15:36Speaker 1: and people were able to use cars. We have folks
- 15:39Speaker 1: living with us. We had people living in our properties
- 15:42Speaker 1: that couldn't. We we treated it almost like a charity.
- 15:44Speaker 1: We didn't understand how to truly value and run it
- 15:48Speaker 1: like a business because the ultimate reason we had all
- 15:51Speaker 1: those properties because we had a property management company, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: so we we didn't fully understand in our mid twenties
- 15:58Speaker 1: how to run that the right way. So it seems
- 16:02Speaker 1: like my entire, you know, ten fifteen years of my
- 16:06Speaker 1: life pre marriage and post marriage was just a whole
- 16:11Speaker 1: life learning school of the hard. Not you're learning how
- 16:16Speaker 1: to do life, learning how to respect money with a
- 16:20Speaker 1: K because put a K on it money there you go.
- 16:24Speaker 1: I'm talking to my friend Coleen Ontario. She's uh got
- 16:28Speaker 1: an event coming up in Chicago. That's why she's on
- 16:31Speaker 1: my show because we're gonna drop a special show announcing that,
- 16:34Speaker 1: putting some pressure, putting some promotion behind that, so we
- 16:37Speaker 1: can we can blow it up for you in Chicago'll
- 16:39Speaker 1: be right back with more money Making Conversations. Thank you
- 16:42Speaker 1: for listening so far. Money Making Conversations continues online at
- 16:47Speaker 1: www dot money Making Conversations dot com, and follow Money
- 16:51Speaker 1: Making Conversations on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it's time you stop thinking about your dreams and put
- 16:58Speaker 1: some plans into action. I just was Shan McDonald's on
- 17:01Speaker 1: the phone with Colin Daro Corlandiro. She's to see your
- 17:07Speaker 1: Chicks Network. She is the event I said earlier, Chicago
- 17:10Speaker 1: is actually in Orlando, Florida. She corrected me, She's Rashwan.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I love you, but you gotta get my location right.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I want people to show up because right now it's
- 17:19Speaker 1: kind of freezing up in Chicago. I know because I
- 17:22Speaker 1: was in Chicago in February and Chicago doesn't play a
- 17:24Speaker 1: little there for four years. It is fifty degrees in
- 17:27Speaker 1: June and Chicago, so I can tell you right now
- 17:29Speaker 1: it's cold in Chicago, right now probably probably cold front
- 17:32Speaker 1: up there right now, got dog standing steel because there's
- 17:34Speaker 1: oh cold. So tell us about your breath the event.
- 17:39Speaker 1: You are the CEO Chicks Network. I see one of
- 17:42Speaker 1: your speakers. He is one of my favorite people. To
- 17:43Speaker 1: see you on flowers Communication Michelle, I am so heard
- 17:47Speaker 1: wow about four years and I see she's one of
- 17:49Speaker 1: your speakers. But tell us about the event that's going
- 17:52Speaker 1: on in Orlando, Florida. Yes, oh my goodness, my mentor
- 17:56Speaker 1: Michelle I saw. I say listen, y'all got Michelle Obama.
- 17:59Speaker 1: I got Michelle. It's finally here, the season of celebration.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 18:10Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for Reyus Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 18:14Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 18:17Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts
- 18:21Speaker 1: for all your loved ones. Send warm wishes with cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungeware,
- 18:26Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by

- 19:59Speaker 1: t e our Ai. She is so sharp and has
- 20:03Speaker 1: um taught me so much and it's just really really
- 20:07Speaker 1: um amazing. But to answer your question, yes, the event
- 20:11Speaker 1: CEO to Dominate. We have it every year during Women's Months,
- 20:16Speaker 1: celebrating women, and our main focus this year is more
- 20:21Speaker 1: boot camp business workshop style, so it's a full day
- 20:25Speaker 1: of workshops with speakers UH teaching from their area of influence,
- 20:32Speaker 1: the area that they dominate. Our mantra at CEO chicks collaborate,
- 20:36Speaker 1: create and dominating. So the whole focus is for us
- 20:41Speaker 1: to get educated UM American Express um Amics. They have
- 20:46Speaker 1: their business report come out and the numbers were astounded.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We're leading as it comes to minority women with starting businesses,
- 20:54Speaker 1: but we're also leading with failing in business and having
- 20:58Speaker 1: the lowest revenue generating firms, and that needs to be addressed.
- 21:04Speaker 1: And so I come back to understanding our our plans,
- 21:09Speaker 1: understanding finances, understanding marketing, understanding branding, understanding connectivity, and finding
- 21:16Speaker 1: your ideal customers. And then we go into the latter
- 21:19Speaker 1: part of the day, which is hands on, where we
- 21:21Speaker 1: are building out sales funnels for our v i p
- 21:25Speaker 1: s and showing them how to use it and build
- 21:27Speaker 1: their email marketing list to continue to what we call
- 21:31Speaker 1: modern day you know, door knocking UM getting that those
- 21:36Speaker 1: email lists together. Just in case social media cut a
- 21:40Speaker 1: monkey and you can't get access or something happens to
- 21:43Speaker 1: Facebook and Instagram, you still have access to the people
- 21:46Speaker 1: UM via your email list. So we're really diving in
- 21:50Speaker 1: on how to I'm such a teacher and I said,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I like to push hope, I like to inspire people,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but I really want to make sure they get it,
- 21:58Speaker 1: that they are educated and understand how to implement these
- 22:03Speaker 1: strategies once they leave. And that's the entire focus our
- 22:06Speaker 1: keynote Monique Rodriguez, who over the last three years, you
- 22:11Speaker 1: she went from her garage to every major retailer you
- 22:15Speaker 1: can think of, and she spoke at our Chicago pop
- 22:18Speaker 1: up um last year and she's absolutely killing it right
- 22:22Speaker 1: now in the hair care industry and business. So we
- 22:26Speaker 1: really just are going to dive in on what that
- 22:28Speaker 1: looks like, how do you get into targets? What are
- 22:31Speaker 1: the steps to doing that? How to make sure that
- 22:33Speaker 1: your your documentation, everything that you need is on point.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And financially, what do you need to have when you're
- 22:39Speaker 1: purchasing retail space for you know, for your products. And
- 22:43Speaker 1: so we're just gonna die when I say we're going
- 22:45Speaker 1: all the way in, we're going all the way is well,
- 22:49Speaker 1: it's important because here's the thing is that we all
- 22:53Speaker 1: want success. Uh, there's some reason that you know, there
- 22:56Speaker 1: are certain techniques to get in there. Some people are
- 22:58Speaker 1: naturally gifted at Now you're you're you're you're gifted at
- 23:01Speaker 1: this what you're doing. You know, that's a gift. And
- 23:03Speaker 1: I always tell people, uh, you know two plus two,
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's for for everybody. So it's something you can learn,
- 23:08Speaker 1: you know, something you can master. It's the effort that
- 23:11Speaker 1: makes you successful at it. And when I hear you
- 23:14Speaker 1: talk about all these deep dives, these seminars and bringing
- 23:18Speaker 1: in these experts or you know, they're they're gonna tell
- 23:21Speaker 1: you about their journey, and their journey is gonna have
- 23:23Speaker 1: up and down and up and down. They're gonna have haters,
- 23:25Speaker 1: and they're gonna have people, even their relatives, are gonna
- 23:27Speaker 1: tell them you're crazy. You know, people you love gonna
- 23:30Speaker 1: tell you that you're crazy, even in your your your
- 23:32Speaker 1: kids might even question you and your efforts to make
- 23:35Speaker 1: a change in your life. Because that's what happens is
- 23:37Speaker 1: I always tell people, the worst thing in the world
- 23:39Speaker 1: is to ask a person for advice who doesn't even
- 23:42Speaker 1: know what you're talking about. So you gotta and that's
- 23:46Speaker 1: what people make the biggest mistake. I remember when I
- 23:48Speaker 1: was I was working at IBM, and I went and told,
- 23:51Speaker 1: you know, my relatives and everybody, I was gonna quit
- 23:54Speaker 1: to be a stand up comic. You're funny all but
- 23:58Speaker 1: look I be him. See, I'm talking to people who
- 24:02Speaker 1: had no I had no business talking to these people.
- 24:04Speaker 1: I could care less of what they thought about be
- 24:06Speaker 1: leaving IBM, but you know, I value their opinion. And
- 24:10Speaker 1: guess what, not one of them saying anything that I
- 24:12Speaker 1: used back there or today because they didn't know what
- 24:16Speaker 1: I was talking about. They didn't understand the entertainment industry.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I knew there were gonna be some problems. I knew
- 24:20Speaker 1: I was gonna jump out there and meet and b
- 24:22Speaker 1: Eddie Murphy I'm still not in the Murphy, but that
- 24:24Speaker 1: doesn't mean I'm not successful. I went from being a
- 24:27Speaker 1: stand up, I went from a writer. I went from
- 24:30Speaker 1: a producer to a manager of talent. Now I'm marketing
- 24:33Speaker 1: any branding expert. All those things. I had to have
- 24:37Speaker 1: a certain amount of effort to understand that, you know
- 24:40Speaker 1: some reason, this is where you need to go. This
- 24:43Speaker 1: is what I like about when I listened to you,
- 24:45Speaker 1: when I listened to your story. Why I bring you
- 24:47Speaker 1: on this show because you understand a closed door does
- 24:50Speaker 1: not mean you can't open it. M hm, and you
- 24:54Speaker 1: opened it every time. Colleen, Why how tell these folks
- 24:59Speaker 1: who you are? Girl? Tell these folks why they need
- 25:01Speaker 1: to be in the Lando be at this brainstorm and session.
- 25:04Speaker 1: It's just turn your life around session. This is your show.
- 25:07Speaker 1: This is why I brought you on the show. I
- 25:08Speaker 1: thought you want to show people know who you are.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I'm dropping this show for you. We're gonna drop this
- 25:13Speaker 1: show on Thursday. We're dropping this show. Come on, come
- 25:18Speaker 1: tell them girl, tell everybody? Why are you them all? What?
- 25:22Speaker 1: One of the things that I think is so key
- 25:26Speaker 1: and I'm so horrible at suiting my own horn. Thank
- 25:28Speaker 1: you I'm usually I'm so big on talking up other people.
- 25:34Speaker 1: But one of the things I will definitely say is
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm a fighter. I'm a fighter. I don't take no
- 25:39Speaker 1: for an answer. In fact, no means game on. It's
- 25:42Speaker 1: almost like the opposite. It means game on you you're
- 25:46Speaker 1: saying though, so that means no for you, You're not
- 25:49Speaker 1: the one you know. And so I just truly believe
- 25:52Speaker 1: that I'm big on doing business with people in my community.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I understand the importance of keeping the dollar in rotation
- 26:00Speaker 1: in my community outside of just the beauty industry, and
- 26:04Speaker 1: yes that matters. But when it comes to my doctors
- 26:07Speaker 1: that I go to, I make sure I'm make giving
- 26:10Speaker 1: business to people that look like me. I'm making sure
- 26:14Speaker 1: I'm giving business to families and people that I know
- 26:17Speaker 1: are gonna continue to give further, give on more, continue
- 26:20Speaker 1: to pay it forward. Our communities are behind and we're
- 26:24Speaker 1: getting we're catching up. We're catching up, and so CEO
- 26:27Speaker 1: Chicks is focused on minority women in business. We are
- 26:32Speaker 1: the spot for you to come to build your business
- 26:35Speaker 1: and your brand, to get things off the floor, to
- 26:37Speaker 1: get an understanding, and let me add an affordable location
- 26:41Speaker 1: to do that where You don't have to give your
- 26:43Speaker 1: your entire pension up or your entire four one K
- 26:47Speaker 1: up to learn how to get started on your business,
- 26:50Speaker 1: to learn how to monetize your gifts and your talents.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And that's what I'm here. I'm so passionate about it.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I tell hundreds of women get into different locations and
- 26:59Speaker 1: get their business and their products out there, to learn
- 27:02Speaker 1: how to build their own community, how to connect with
- 27:05Speaker 1: their own audience. You don't have to look at what
- 27:07Speaker 1: other people are doing. You know your your own competition.
- 27:10Speaker 1: And I feel that way about myself. It's important that
- 27:13Speaker 1: I get around people that believe in me and that
- 27:16Speaker 1: I believe in them, and we do business together, we
- 27:18Speaker 1: strategize together. It doesn't take a whole lot of people,
- 27:21Speaker 1: just takes the right one. And so this network is
- 27:24Speaker 1: just that. That's what I'm building right now. And through it,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I helped them. I helped them with their brand, I
- 27:29Speaker 1: help them with their business. And this is the place
- 27:31Speaker 1: that people want to be. It's all how to and
- 27:34Speaker 1: no hype. There you go, see, I'm signing up now,
- 27:40Speaker 1: no hype, Elaborate, create and dominate. That's it. You deliver
- 27:46Speaker 1: the facts information like the one of you know what
- 27:48Speaker 1: you said, nearly all women owned firms in the US
- 27:51Speaker 1: is accounted for by a minority woman. Yeah, why don't
- 27:56Speaker 1: we know that? Is that? Is that suppressed information? Is that?
- 28:00Speaker 1: You know? I think it's just one of the things
- 28:02Speaker 1: that we have to get accustomed to in our community.
- 28:06Speaker 1: We have to get accustomed to looking at the bottom line.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Like we have a lot of people that that like
- 28:12Speaker 1: to talk and like to throw things out there, but
- 28:14Speaker 1: when we say it's time for change and then there's
- 28:17Speaker 1: work that has to be put in, very few show
- 28:20Speaker 1: up for the actual work. And so we just got
- 28:23Speaker 1: to get to a place to where we live it
- 28:25Speaker 1: the like we were walking, like we're talking, you know
- 28:27Speaker 1: what I mean, Like it just has to come down
- 28:29Speaker 1: to that, and that's what I'm interested in. I realized
- 28:33Speaker 1: people love the hype. I realized they love the noise
- 28:36Speaker 1: sometimes with Sean, they love doing it for the Graham,
- 28:38Speaker 1: they loved doing it for the light, camera and action.
- 28:41Speaker 1: But when it comes down to the work, they think
- 28:43Speaker 1: it's a cup word. They act like it's a straight
- 28:46Speaker 1: cup word. And so I feel like we're not doing
- 28:49Speaker 1: a good job of painting the picture of what entrepreneurship
- 28:54Speaker 1: looks like, of what work looks like, what mental strength?
- 28:58Speaker 1: I talked about the M factor in my book Brands
- 29:00Speaker 1: to Books and in Brand to Bucks I talk about
- 29:03Speaker 1: what is required before you even go further in my book,
- 29:07Speaker 1: there are things that you need to understand. One is
- 29:10Speaker 1: what you have, your brand, your your product, your service?
- 29:14Speaker 1: Is is are people drawn to it? It's magnetism? Is
- 29:17Speaker 1: the first m. Are people even attracted to it? Do
- 29:20Speaker 1: they even want it? Do they? Are they hunting you
- 29:22Speaker 1: down for it? The next thing is manpower. Are you
- 29:25Speaker 1: even able to get people drawn to your team? Are
- 29:28Speaker 1: you able to get people to buy in to your
- 29:30Speaker 1: vision and your dream? How well are you communicating that?
- 29:33Speaker 1: How well are you placing your vision out there? Is
- 29:35Speaker 1: it written so clearly that men can take it and
- 29:38Speaker 1: run with it like the word says? Then the next
- 29:40Speaker 1: thing is money. How much is it gonna take? Have
- 29:42Speaker 1: you counted up the cost? Do you understand what is
- 29:45Speaker 1: required to do this? And the next thing from that
- 29:48Speaker 1: is then the mental strength? Do you have what it
- 29:52Speaker 1: takes to mentally walk out to to to hear no constantly?
- 29:56Speaker 1: Are you able to handle rejection? Are you able to
- 29:59Speaker 1: hand know people doubting you are you able all the
- 30:02Speaker 1: things we just talked about on this call. Are you
- 30:04Speaker 1: able to mentally handle it? You know how many successful
- 30:07Speaker 1: people turn around and commit suicide. They cannot take it.
- 30:11Speaker 1: They're dealing with depression there and their emotional intelligence is
- 30:14Speaker 1: at an all time low. What does that look like?
- 30:17Speaker 1: Before you go forward and launch anything, I want you
- 30:20Speaker 1: to ask yourselves these questions. Do you have the M factor? Girl?
- 30:26Speaker 1: You're doing it. You're doing it now. I didn't woke
- 30:29Speaker 1: up now, I didn't woke the CEO check up. I
- 30:33Speaker 1: was sit back, I had my pillow out, have my
- 30:35Speaker 1: legs up on the stood because the show is yo.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I'm just telling you that's why I created my main conversation. Well,
- 30:41Speaker 1: first I am on the phone here with celebrity beauty
- 30:45Speaker 1: brand expert, you know, twenty years of experience and she
- 30:48Speaker 1: she mentor she motivated. Well, she just heard motivation. She's
- 30:51Speaker 1: an author. She mentioned a book twenty years of Experience
- 30:54Speaker 1: and so, and she has a program coming out. Uh.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I wouldn't say the crash course because I guess what
- 31:00Speaker 1: this is something that you you should be involved in
- 31:02Speaker 1: on a regular basis. But there's as National Women's mom
- 31:05Speaker 1: Moth of March, and she's done this program and she's
- 31:08Speaker 1: done it before, and that's the CEO Chicks Institute is
- 31:11Speaker 1: designed to mentor female entrepreneurs from seventeen to twenty two,
- 31:16Speaker 1: giving them information and tools to win in the marketplace,
- 31:20Speaker 1: getting them that early. I always tell people that, you know,
- 31:23Speaker 1: I talk about people using age as an excuse they
- 31:26Speaker 1: should not. I tell people when you when you authority,
- 31:29Speaker 1: that means that you have you just getting started. Fifty
- 31:32Speaker 1: means that you're ramping up. Sixty means that are you're
- 31:34Speaker 1: about to explode with opportunities because you hadn't given them.
- 31:38Speaker 1: There's no finish line in your opportunity. But I always
- 31:40Speaker 1: tell people this, if you if you if you're trying
- 31:43Speaker 1: to define your life on the job, resume that you're
- 31:45Speaker 1: currently working on. Stop. Go back to your seventeen eighteen,
- 31:51Speaker 1: early twenties when you had a passion and you had
- 31:54Speaker 1: dreams before somebody interfered with it. When I said interfered
- 31:57Speaker 1: that we never told you you couldn't do that. That
- 31:59Speaker 1: then make sense for you. Or you got married your
- 32:02Speaker 1: day to somebody who shifted you in a different direction
- 32:04Speaker 1: than have the passion of the dreams that you had
- 32:06Speaker 1: or you have some kids, you have gotten the debt,
- 32:08Speaker 1: or you joined the military, you moved out of state,
- 32:11Speaker 1: going back to that era when they meant something to you,
- 32:14Speaker 1: when you had these dreams that were unbelievable. That's why
- 32:16Speaker 1: I love the fact that you're talking about entrepreneurs, female
- 32:19Speaker 1: entrepreneurs between the ages of seventeen twenty two. Because see
- 32:22Speaker 1: those people right there who sit down, they are dreamers,
- 32:25Speaker 1: they are people. They the world no doesn't mean anything
- 32:28Speaker 1: to them. They can't even see forty years. They can't
- 32:32Speaker 1: see fifty. That's so far away from the fifty fifty.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I'm seventeen. I can't even count that high. So you're
- 32:43Speaker 1: sitting down with people who are trying to be successful
- 32:46Speaker 1: right now, and see my generation go to college, get mad,
- 32:52Speaker 1: you know, playing for a time. Man. You know we
- 32:55Speaker 1: we were eighteen years old. They was already putting uhing
- 32:57Speaker 1: in the grave when we graduated. It's true they were
- 33:03Speaker 1: nowadays you graduate. That's why I just despires people. And
- 33:07Speaker 1: they start talking bad about millennials, Well, you know they
- 33:11Speaker 1: want it right now, they don't want to work hard. Well,
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. We old people. Anybody over
- 33:18Speaker 1: fifty sits around forty two forty old people out there
- 33:22Speaker 1: looking at them, and I go, you my age, No,
- 33:24Speaker 1: I'm younger. You really got a problem. You need to
- 33:28Speaker 1: go and check it on yourself. And I tell this
- 33:32Speaker 1: because I want to wrap this up on a high note,
- 33:34Speaker 1: because you've been so fantastic with my show. Is this.
- 33:36Speaker 1: You inspire people, you motivate people, and you're taking uh
- 33:41Speaker 1: the female and my daughter. You know, she's twenty two,
- 33:44Speaker 1: so she's in that range that you you're talking about.
- 33:46Speaker 1: She wants to be entrepreneur. She wants to start a business.
- 33:48Speaker 1: But I tell somebody, if I grew up with an iPhone,
- 33:51Speaker 1: I would think differently too. Okay, if I grew up
- 33:53Speaker 1: with YouTube, I would think differently. Due if I grew
- 33:55Speaker 1: up with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok all this stuff, I would
- 33:59Speaker 1: think different me too. I didn't grow up with those things.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So guess what I think differently. I would plan differently.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I would think also that I can be great too.
- 34:07Speaker 1: If the Jenner's out there, they can be at the Kadashians.
- 34:11Speaker 1: They could be millionaires just by posting something for two
- 34:13Speaker 1: and fifty thousand dollars or a a million dollars a post.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Why can't. I think that way too. When I was
- 34:19Speaker 1: growing up, look a here we had Rotor with down telephone.
- 34:23Speaker 1: You think, think about that. I grew up in the
- 34:25Speaker 1: generation to Rotor don telephone. In the sixties, at midnight
- 34:30Speaker 1: TV went off. Just know you got Direct TV, you
- 34:37Speaker 1: got Hulu Hulu, you got Disney Plus, you got Fox Television.
- 34:42Speaker 1: This is the world we live in and that's all
- 34:44Speaker 1: you're telling the individuals who come there before we leave,
- 34:46Speaker 1: tell us one more time how to get in touch
- 34:49Speaker 1: with you. But also the register for this amazing Orlando event. Absolutely,
- 34:54Speaker 1: thank you so much again for having me on. I
- 34:56Speaker 1: just love it every time. Um, just such a great
- 34:59Speaker 1: guy log and I have one thing that I always
- 35:01Speaker 1: say that dialogue brings direction and so back to speak
- 35:06Speaker 1: to the millennials, it's a focus on for them. They
- 35:09Speaker 1: can be all over the place and so sometimes for them,
- 35:12Speaker 1: they're so creative and they have so much at their fingertips,
- 35:15Speaker 1: as you said, and so teaching them mindfulness, how to
- 35:19Speaker 1: rail it in and harness. That gift is one of
- 35:22Speaker 1: my number one like passions and love. I mean I
- 35:25Speaker 1: have a list of them, but I just love that.
- 35:27Speaker 1: But to be a point, uh to your point to
- 35:29Speaker 1: answer your question. Dominate con dot live is where they
- 35:33Speaker 1: can go to register. That's dominates con c o n
- 35:37Speaker 1: dot live to register for our event. We have about
- 35:40Speaker 1: five seats left. UM, they that we can register for
