- 0:00I'm thinking of a verse today, 1 Samuel 23, 23.
- 0:04That's 1 Samuel 23, 23.
- 0:08This is in the middle of the long section where Saul,
- 0:11who is the former king of Israel, is hunting David,
- 0:14who is to be the new king of Israel.
- 0:16Saul is still on the throne, even though David
- 0:18has been a noated king, and Saul is hunting him down,
- 0:22wanting to destroy him.
- 0:24In 23, 23, it says this.
- 0:27So look and learn about all the hiding places where he hides himself,
- 0:31and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you,
- 0:35and if he is in the land, I will search him out
- 0:39among all the thousands of Judah.
- 0:43So Saul is saying, basically, nothing will stop him
- 0:47from destroying David.
- 0:51What's kind of encouraging about this verse is that in the long run,
- 0:54David is not destroyed, and Saul is destroyed, because God simply will not allow it.
- 1:00This verse reminds me that we too have an enemy,
- 1:03someone who claims to be king over this present life,
- 1:06but he is not king, and he may be our enemy,
- 1:10but he will not be victorious, because God has already anointed us
- 1:14for those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- 1:19We are indwells with the Holy Spirit God,
- 1:22and he will hide us, and he will strengthen us,
- 1:28and he will carry us, and praise God,
- 1:31that enemy king who is coming for us, and will hunt us down throughout the land,
- 1:35will not have victory.
- 1:37We will stand firm in Christ.
- 1:39We will be successful, and we will win,
- 1:43now and in the end.
- 1:45Praise God, who is the real king.
