- 2:27Speaker 1: guests is tash Leah Hamilton's. She's a native New Yorker,
- 2:31Speaker 1: one of my favorite cities, author and celebrity intuitive life coach.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Her god given gift allows her to see a person's past,
- 2:40Speaker 1: president and possibilities of their future by simply hearing their voice,
- 2:44Speaker 1: reading the text, or taking one glance at them, whether
- 2:47Speaker 1: in person or even a picture. Ability to sense exactly
- 2:50Speaker 1: what an individual has experienced a company with intuitively knowing
- 2:54Speaker 1: that an intuition of knowing that what is to calm
- 3:00Speaker 1: or what may have happened. It's a resource too many
- 3:02Speaker 1: and can be a resource to you. That's why I
- 3:04Speaker 1: have on my show Money Making Conversation to uses the
- 3:07Speaker 1: gifts of intuition or foresight to help her clients shift
- 3:10Speaker 1: their mindset, change their behaviors, and create their best life possible,
- 3:14Speaker 1: which is really important today, especially when we deal with
- 3:17Speaker 1: mental stress that's brought on by covid. UH Intuition ability
- 3:23Speaker 1: UH allows you to understand, allows us to understand people
- 3:26Speaker 1: and see what lies beyond the surface. Is widely considered
- 3:28Speaker 1: a gift and blessing. Please work with no money making
- 3:31Speaker 1: conversation Tosh Leah Hamilton's how you doing, Toshi Sean, thank
- 3:36Speaker 1: you so much for having me. Thank you. I wanted
- 3:38Speaker 1: to personalize that intro a little bit more soon than
- 3:40Speaker 1: just saying words, because when you're talking about something that is,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you know, people know what a bank teller does, they
- 3:47Speaker 1: know what a mailman does. They might even know what
- 3:50Speaker 1: an engineer does. You know, but to do what you
- 3:53Speaker 1: do requires a certain degree of explanation. So let's start
- 3:57Speaker 1: out allowing you explain your gift. Sure, So I have
- 4:02Speaker 1: a god given gift where I can literally look at
- 4:04Speaker 1: someone or hear their boys, look at a photo, and
- 4:07Speaker 1: know everything that has transpired in their lives, ranging from
- 4:10Speaker 1: past present as well as their future. Um, it is
- 4:13Speaker 1: a gift that I was doing with my family. Realized
- 4:15Speaker 1: that I'm six years old, that I had this gift,
- 4:17Speaker 1: and I used it to give you the insight and
- 4:20Speaker 1: the confirmation and the direction that you need in your
- 4:23Speaker 1: life that really propel. So I use it in a
- 4:25Speaker 1: positive manner. So I have a gift life. Just know
- 4:27Speaker 1: everything about your life right now? That's that's that sounds great. Okay,
- 4:32Speaker 1: a lot of people might want to might be comfortable
- 4:35Speaker 1: with discussing the past, maybe even the present. It is
- 4:38Speaker 1: the future that might throw people into because like it's
- 4:43Speaker 1: like I said, I think that the cool thing about
- 4:46Speaker 1: what you do is that we all I'll talk about
- 4:48Speaker 1: setting goal a lot on this show. That's that's the
- 4:51Speaker 1: purpose and setting plans. You gotta have a direction, you
- 4:53Speaker 1: have to be focused. But being able to tell people
- 4:56Speaker 1: what the possibility of the future is, doesn't that help
- 4:59Speaker 1: them set stronger goals? They're aligned with that prediction. Absolutely,
- 5:05Speaker 1: And that's why I incorporated life coach to my brain
- 5:08Speaker 1: because it definitely is a lot of coaching based off
- 5:10Speaker 1: of the information that I know that's transpired in their
- 5:13Speaker 1: past as well as their presence. I'm giving them the
- 5:15Speaker 1: road map and the two and the resources to sixty
- 5:18Speaker 1: to get to where they need to be. Now, I
- 5:20Speaker 1: include a possibility of your future because I cannot predict
- 5:22Speaker 1: anyone to teach you. I'm not God. Um it is
- 5:24Speaker 1: a guy gonna get but I'm not God. But based
- 5:26Speaker 1: off of what I know you can do to get there,
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'll give you the insight and most clients who listen
- 5:31Speaker 1: to me it almost ends up successful, right, And so
- 5:33Speaker 1: basically you're saying, look, I'm not telling you like you're
- 5:37Speaker 1: going to find a hundred thousand dollars next week, but
- 5:40Speaker 1: I can't tell you how you can get to that
- 5:42Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars based on what I know of you,
- 5:45Speaker 1: what my intuition is telling me you're capable of doing,
- 5:48Speaker 1: which is really really cool, you know, because we always
- 5:51Speaker 1: we always see that a lot that will just go
- 5:53Speaker 1: back to normal because the coach is seeing an athlete
- 5:56Speaker 1: and say, you know, if you if you work hard,
- 5:58Speaker 1: you show up on time, and you give a then
- 6:02Speaker 1: you could be you could reach your goals as an athlete. Now,
- 6:05Speaker 1: as a life coach, we don't have that. We can't
- 6:07Speaker 1: tell somebody that you know, in order for you to
- 6:10Speaker 1: be successful, we can do it at certain levels. We
- 6:13Speaker 1: can tell you go to the school and get a
- 6:14Speaker 1: college degree, or graduate from high school, or go to
- 6:18Speaker 1: a trade school. But from a life perspective, you're doing
- 6:21Speaker 1: something rather unique, aren't you, Tosh? Absolutely yeah, because I'm
- 6:25Speaker 1: literally giving you the road map. People jokingly say that
- 6:27Speaker 1: I'm like the che quote to life, because I'm giving
- 6:29Speaker 1: you the road map of what you need to do.
- 6:31Speaker 1: To get to where you desire to be God given purpose?
- 6:35Speaker 1: You know, I know what's happening. I want everyone to
- 6:37Speaker 1: just winning life, you know. So I'm the I'm the
- 6:40Speaker 1: resource for that. Right. So now they're always skeptics, you know. Okay,
- 6:45Speaker 1: Now how do you fight the skeptic? You know? And
- 6:47Speaker 1: I'm just saying, here's the funny part about it. There's skeptics,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and people hire you even though they're skeptical. Yes, how
- 6:55Speaker 1: do you walk? How do you get passed us that
- 6:58Speaker 1: skepticism over? First? You might hire just the industry in general. Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I mean, I just speak to them. I'm like, listen,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you know, I'm here to give you whatever God told
- 7:07Speaker 1: me to give you. I goes to the process, never chance,
- 7:10Speaker 1: even for skeptics, and I say, whatever God told me, Tony,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna give it to you. And I pray before
- 7:15Speaker 1: I speak to each of you, one of my clients,
- 7:17Speaker 1: so they can know where my information is coming from.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And I just start speaking. So with the information that
- 7:22Speaker 1: I give them without them not telling me a thing,
- 7:25Speaker 1: there's no way they can get a stepics because they're like,
- 7:27Speaker 1: how do you know this? What they just shot? And
- 7:30Speaker 1: I love those times I love the skeptics. I know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: you know, it's really funny because my wife heard the
- 7:35Speaker 1: interview on Tuesday that we did on month Making Conversation Live,
- 7:38Speaker 1: which is a show I do in Atlanta on w
- 7:40Speaker 1: c okay every Tuesday from six pm standards. I do
- 7:44Speaker 1: a live show. I take phone calls and she's going, Seanan,
- 7:48Speaker 1: has she ever read you as a no? No no?
- 7:50Speaker 1: And always I do Yesterday Dope Dope, Dope, Dope, dope dope.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You know that that's our running jokes. She gonna reach out,
- 7:59Speaker 1: I have something like Nope. It's not that I don't believe.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It's just that I'm a planner. I'm a guy that
- 8:07Speaker 1: that that all my life, I've been pretty focused. And
- 8:09Speaker 1: I said, if I stay focused on what I'm supposed
- 8:11Speaker 1: to do, then I'm gonna reach my goals. And her
- 8:14Speaker 1: her skill is a life coach. A lot of people
- 8:17Speaker 1: who sometimes maybe not as focused I am, maybe undone,
- 8:21Speaker 1: understand time management and get them aligned. That's why I
- 8:24Speaker 1: really love promoting your brand because I feel it's essential
- 8:27Speaker 1: to a lot of people to understand what's it expected
- 8:30Speaker 1: of them based on what you see of them, and
- 8:33Speaker 1: how they can reach them. Talk about that. Yeah, I
- 8:36Speaker 1: mean it's a process. You know what I want to
- 8:37Speaker 1: sertif by saying authenticity is key. I do not tell
- 8:41Speaker 1: people what they want to know. I tell them what
- 8:42Speaker 1: they need to hear, basically what's coming up for me.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And sometimes it's not the best. Everything is not always
- 8:47Speaker 1: flowers and sunshine. Sometimes we have to have full flegged,
- 8:51Speaker 1: hard conversations about where you are with your life and
- 8:53Speaker 1: being true to that. And so I'm compassionate, I'm gifted,
- 8:57Speaker 1: I'm intuitive, and I'm giving you your truth that you
- 9:00Speaker 1: can get to where your destiny to be. And that's it.
- 9:02Speaker 1: It is a process. And what the process starts how
- 9:06Speaker 1: because you know, sitting down with Tas for a talk
- 9:08Speaker 1: to Tash, that's the that's the session you know has
- 9:11Speaker 1: TV show written now all over it if a life
- 9:13Speaker 1: changing moment where she has an open and honest conversation
- 9:16Speaker 1: about what is working and not working in your life.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Right there is the key right there because a lot
- 9:20Speaker 1: of people out there, Tosh, because I want to get
- 9:23Speaker 1: down and dirty with your on it, because a lot
- 9:25Speaker 1: of people out there need to hear the truth. Now. Now,
- 9:27Speaker 1: if you have this gift, how do you break the
- 9:30Speaker 1: truth to people? I'm saying you need to stop doing
- 9:33Speaker 1: this when sometimes doing this is easy for them. It's easy.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna hund your person authentic, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I mean with s You've known me for a long
- 9:42Speaker 1: time now. I don't go back and from New York,
- 9:45Speaker 1: so you know, I give it how it is no chasing.
- 9:47Speaker 1: There's a lot of people who come to me and
- 9:48Speaker 1: want to know about their relationships. It's my spouse cheating
- 9:52Speaker 1: on me, right, computing on you. I'm gonna say your
- 9:56Speaker 1: spouse is cheating on you, and then I'll give them
- 9:59Speaker 1: whatever they need to find out why this is happening,
- 10:02Speaker 1: on how this is happening, to deal with the situation.
- 10:04Speaker 1: So again they want to know the truth. But sometimes
- 10:07Speaker 1: people can't handle the truth. So I just tell them, scared,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest. This is what we have and
- 10:12Speaker 1: this is what's going on. It's shocking, but it's it's
- 10:15Speaker 1: also healing in the same sense. Well, you know, here's
- 10:17Speaker 1: the funny point about it, and is maybe not funny
- 10:19Speaker 1: to some people. Go if you're coming to Taj and
- 10:22Speaker 1: say is he cheating on me? Yes? Is she cheating
- 10:26Speaker 1: on yes? Because you already at that question that questioning
- 10:30Speaker 1: stage if you already doubt enough enough evidence has been planned.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Now you just want to Now you're just trying to
- 10:36Speaker 1: get evidence on it concrete things. So now now your layer.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Now you bring up the whole cheating thing. But you're
- 10:43Speaker 1: deeper than that, because you're talking about career talk, financial talk,
- 10:49Speaker 1: business decision talks. So let's break down each layer because
- 10:53Speaker 1: we always can talk about the emotional relationship because that
- 10:57Speaker 1: that that that resonates openly with people, because you know,
- 11:00Speaker 1: people show they like you said, you wear your emotions
- 11:02Speaker 1: on your skin. Sometimes you know when your sleeve I
- 11:04Speaker 1: should say. So, now with that being said, how do
- 11:07Speaker 1: you talk to somebody in a talk to tash session
- 11:10Speaker 1: about their business? How do you focus that person in? Yeah?
- 11:15Speaker 1: So usually I come up with Usually a strategy will
- 11:18Speaker 1: come up. Right, the first thing that comes up is
- 11:20Speaker 1: the business, Like, hey, it's coming up to me that
- 11:22Speaker 1: you have a passion to start a business. Yes, something's
- 11:25Speaker 1: come up through with real estate. Real estate may come
- 11:27Speaker 1: up and I'm like, okay, great, how you can get
- 11:30Speaker 1: involved in real estate? Get involved with I don't know Airbnb,
- 11:32Speaker 1: this like I give them the road map basically, what's
- 11:34Speaker 1: coming up for me for them to really thrive within
- 11:37Speaker 1: the space of real estate for example. Right, so it
- 11:40Speaker 1: comes up for me intuitively what it is, and then
- 11:42Speaker 1: I tell them what they need to do to propel
- 11:44Speaker 1: in the area. If I'm making sense, but what makes
- 11:46Speaker 1: a lot of sense. I'm talking to tash Leah Hamilton's
- 11:49Speaker 1: she's an intuitive coach in other words, life coach. In
- 11:52Speaker 1: other words, I wouldn't say she um kids gifts and
- 11:56Speaker 1: her gifts allow her to be able to get you
- 12:01Speaker 1: focused on what your life or path you should take.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Because that's the key. Because I'm gonna keep bringing that
- 12:07Speaker 1: more and more because reaching your perfect guests for me
- 12:09Speaker 1: on money making conversation, because I'm always telling people is
- 12:11Speaker 1: that you know I'm talking about you know, leave with
- 12:13Speaker 1: your gifts. You know, uh, don't let your friends, family
- 12:16Speaker 1: or co workers stop you from planning or reaching your dreams.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And so basically you're just doing what I say as
- 12:24Speaker 1: an intuitive coach, You're you're finding these people, You're setting
- 12:28Speaker 1: them down, whether it's a business or relationship or career
- 12:32Speaker 1: saying Okay, I know you love basketball. I know you
- 12:36Speaker 1: play basketball, but you're really talented as a musical artist.
- 12:40Speaker 1: So so put down the basketball, treat it as a hobby.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Let's let's come on over here. But how do you
- 12:47Speaker 1: read into that? Isn't through conversation or just people have
- 12:52Speaker 1: a certain or passion that they don't understand they have
- 12:56Speaker 1: or don't value it. That's the key right now in
- 12:59Speaker 1: the conversation because becuse of the fact that you said
- 13:02Speaker 1: something through your gift, why doesn't that person acknowledge it?
- 13:06Speaker 1: Or they just don't want to admit that's the direction
- 13:08Speaker 1: their life should take them. Yeah, I think it's a
- 13:11Speaker 1: combination of many things. You know, Oftentimes people are afraid
- 13:14Speaker 1: of their own talents. They're afraid of taking a leap
- 13:17Speaker 1: of faith. I was one of them, right, it's the
- 13:19Speaker 1: matter of putting in the work to make those things happen.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It may be easier to prick up the basketball as
- 13:24Speaker 1: opposed to starting a business, so most people want to
- 13:27Speaker 1: take the easy route. They want to say, I'd rather
- 13:29Speaker 1: just played safe and play the basketball, even though this
- 13:31Speaker 1: is my talent and I think about this every day,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I would rather play safe because success is not an
- 13:37Speaker 1: easy route. You have to work for your success, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: people don't want to put in the work. But Sean
- 13:42Speaker 1: they don't They want to go with the ticket, they
- 13:44Speaker 1: want the answers they wanted to be given to them.
- 13:47Speaker 1: It doesn't work that way. And so in our session,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I say, hey, this is what it's supposed to be.
- 13:52Speaker 1: It's going to take this, that, and this. But in
- 13:54Speaker 1: the end of that road, here's the benefit. Here's the reward.
- 13:58Speaker 1: They need to see that, they need to understand and
- 14:00Speaker 1: that there's light there for them if they put the
- 14:02Speaker 1: work in, and so I bring that out of them. Okay,
- 14:04Speaker 1: here's the here's the key term. You said a lot
- 14:06Speaker 1: of people try to take the easy route. One could say,
- 14:10Speaker 1: coming to you is an easy route? Is that true?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Kind of you know, I would like to jokingly say,
- 14:18Speaker 1: on the cheat cold to life because I'm hoping you
- 14:20Speaker 1: and cover the truth. However, it's still your decision. And
- 14:23Speaker 1: that's why I say I leave your past, your present
- 14:26Speaker 1: and the possibility of your future, because if you choose
- 14:29Speaker 1: to listen to the information I give you, great If
- 14:31Speaker 1: you don't, then you know, whatever the results are, they are.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I can't make you do anything. It's it's your fault,
- 14:36Speaker 1: is your life. That's the key right there. Okay, cool,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Because I was messing with it, I kind of knew
- 14:40Speaker 1: the answer when I said it's a cheat or an
- 14:43Speaker 1: easy route. We'll be right back with more money making
- 14:45Speaker 1: conversation with two initive life coach tosh Lee Hamilton's It's
- 14:49Speaker 1: finally here, the season of celebration, and no matter how
- 14:53Speaker 1: you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for

- 16:47Speaker 1: Welcome back to Money Making Conversation. As I continue my
- 16:50Speaker 1: conversation with intusive life coach top Leith Hamilton's I'm a teaser.
- 16:56Speaker 1: She could tell you look loizard. Some layman terms you
- 16:59Speaker 1: can tell you nor so you are going to be
- 17:01Speaker 1: an incredible basketball player. Okay? Cool? Really okay, But what
- 17:07Speaker 1: she's that's the that's the cheat right there. She's telling
- 17:09Speaker 1: you what you could be. Now the hard work part
- 17:14Speaker 1: is accomplishing what she said you can be the same thing.
- 17:18Speaker 1: She could tell you, know something, you should go into business? What? What? What? What? Oh?
- 17:22Speaker 1: You wanted to open the line of such and such
- 17:25Speaker 1: she's said, you go, yes, well you should follow that dream. Okay,
- 17:30Speaker 1: that's the cheat. But the hard work is what she
- 17:35Speaker 1: telling you you have to put into it. So the
- 17:38Speaker 1: cheat is there. It might be an easy moment of
- 17:42Speaker 1: you skipping a line and focus on you. That's all
- 17:45Speaker 1: she's doing, y'all. She's focusing you to understand this is
- 17:49Speaker 1: the path you should go on. But what she's not
- 17:52Speaker 1: telling you, and what she can't tell you, is how
- 17:55Speaker 1: hard you are are willing to work for that dream?
- 17:59Speaker 1: Talk about that's it. But that's that's the truth with Sean.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I mean there it is blatantly. You know, I tell
- 18:04Speaker 1: people I'm here as a resource to you. I would
- 18:07Speaker 1: give you the road map, I would give you the resource.
- 18:09Speaker 1: So'll give you everything that you need. But if you
- 18:11Speaker 1: choose not to do it, and that is your call.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And often times people come to me for more than
- 18:16Speaker 1: one session and they take note or they record and
- 18:19Speaker 1: they're like, gosh, this happened. This happened. Everything's great, but
- 18:22Speaker 1: this didn't happen yet. And I'm like, well, what do
- 18:24Speaker 1: you not say? Well that said I have to do X,
- 18:26Speaker 1: Y and Z. I'm like, what did you do it? No?
- 18:28Speaker 1: With then here we are right. So it's really the
- 18:31Speaker 1: matter of taking accountability with your own life. I'm a resource,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but I can't control what you're supposed to do. That's
- 18:37Speaker 1: up to you. What are they outlets that you are
- 18:40Speaker 1: available on that my fan base who are the watching
- 18:43Speaker 1: or listening to this podcast or talk show can reach
- 18:46Speaker 1: you at Tosh absolutely so I would love for people
- 18:49Speaker 1: to found me on Instagram. My Instagram has talked to
- 18:52Speaker 1: Tosh nine to two and that is spelled out t
- 18:56Speaker 1: A l K t O t A s H nine
- 19:00Speaker 1: You too. I go on Instagram Life often and I
- 19:02Speaker 1: randomly read people lives. If you request me, I will
- 19:05Speaker 1: call you in and I will read you live. But
- 19:06Speaker 1: on the spot can go to my website which is
- 19:09Speaker 1: talked to Tosh dot com and but Possession and check
- 19:12Speaker 1: to see if I have any events coming up in
- 19:13Speaker 1: the area. I'm gonna tell your something. See, I know,
- 19:17Speaker 1: people go oh, I could probably get no, no, no.
- 19:19Speaker 1: She's consulting more than four hundred people per month and
- 19:23Speaker 1: it's growing four hundred. I'm gonna tell you about my
- 19:27Speaker 1: relationship with Okay, here's a young lady. To see. I
- 19:30Speaker 1: was her cheat, I was her cheap okay. And because
- 19:35Speaker 1: I always felt that, you know, I look at people
- 19:37Speaker 1: and I could pick them out out of Steve hard
- 19:39Speaker 1: you stall always get any in me. I go on
- 19:42Speaker 1: remors that I don't waste your time with that person.
- 19:45Speaker 1: How you know, I just know that person of the
- 19:47Speaker 1: wets your time and so and so when I met
- 19:50Speaker 1: this talented young lady, tosh Leo Hamilton's, she had a gift,
- 19:55Speaker 1: but she was doing another job, a well paid job. Okay,
- 19:59Speaker 1: don't don't even rosy. It's hard to make people make
- 20:02Speaker 1: decisions when they're comfortable, and so I was. I wanted
- 20:07Speaker 1: to push her out of her comfortable state. So I
- 20:10Speaker 1: felt was her proper landing place and what she's doing
- 20:13Speaker 1: now today. So talk to people about that big push
- 20:17Speaker 1: I gave you, Tash and making that push. It enabled
- 20:22Speaker 1: you now to start fulfilling your dream because back then
- 20:24Speaker 1: you could not have talked before her to people per month. No,
- 20:28Speaker 1: and I just firstly promisel, I want to start up
- 20:30Speaker 1: with gratitude to you with Sean, because I think of
- 20:32Speaker 1: you every single day because I'm so grateful for the push.
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know, I working for a fit. I was an
- 20:38Speaker 1: executive in my own city and I had a good job.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I was making good money and I met Rashwan and
- 20:44Speaker 1: we were trying to work on the show and get
- 20:46Speaker 1: me on television, and we got this close so many times.
- 20:49Speaker 1: But I think the reason was me balancing corporate guests,
- 20:53Speaker 1: corporate my guests, and Rashan, you poked me to the
- 20:55Speaker 1: side and you said to me, the only way that
- 20:58Speaker 1: you're gonna reach your maximum success is if you leave
- 21:01Speaker 1: your job to give this a hundred percent. It is
- 21:03Speaker 1: not gonna be what it needs to be if you
- 21:06Speaker 1: do not leave a job. And I was like, no,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I need my salary, I need to work pushaw you understand,
- 21:12Speaker 1: and you said, listen to me, if you do not
- 21:14Speaker 1: leave your job and take a leap of faith and trust,
- 21:17Speaker 1: this will not work for you. And that conversation stayed
- 21:20Speaker 1: in my head. Every day I stepped behind the desk,
- 21:22Speaker 1: I heard your voice in my ear, literally no exaggeration,
- 21:26Speaker 1: and I just spoke up my day and I said,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I need to take the leap of faith. But Sean
- 21:30Speaker 1: said that I need to do this, and I'm gonna
- 21:32Speaker 1: do and I took your way and I trust and
- 21:34Speaker 1: thank you for that because now I'm helping thousands of
- 21:37Speaker 1: people annually around the globe, four hundred clients a mom
- 21:40Speaker 1: at plus and it is growing. And I'm just thankful
- 21:43Speaker 1: that I'm able to impact so many lives. And that's
- 21:45Speaker 1: thank you to you. Well, you know, thank you, you know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I say. The part of the story was that I
- 21:52Speaker 1: gave her advice. Did I disappear? No, not really. You're
- 21:57Speaker 1: always here. I'm always there, but you don't like I said.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You know, advice is how you accept it. And I
- 22:03Speaker 1: said that when I said disappeared, I wasn't there. And
- 22:05Speaker 1: she's gonna disappear. And it's since that she can't she
- 22:08Speaker 1: can't write out applications, she can't make you do push up,
- 22:12Speaker 1: she can't make you get up at four thirty or
- 22:15Speaker 1: five thirty every morning. She's not gonna physically be there,
- 22:18Speaker 1: so she's gonna disappear from the standpoint of In order
- 22:21Speaker 1: for you to achieve the goals that the dreams or
- 22:24Speaker 1: the expectations that she feeled through her life coach in twuitiveness,
- 22:29Speaker 1: you have to do it yourself. And so even though
- 22:32Speaker 1: I had this intuition and then Lord knows, I am
- 22:35Speaker 1: not Tosh believe me about her, but I but I
- 22:38Speaker 1: knew that looking at her, she was happy kind of
- 22:42Speaker 1: but she was always talking about whenever she talked about
- 22:45Speaker 1: her gifts, she laid up and she she was confident,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and she started bragging a little bit. You know, she
- 22:51Speaker 1: danced around a little bit, and she has this really,
- 22:53Speaker 1: really a great smile. And so when she talked about
- 22:56Speaker 1: a job, she come down. When you don't do this,
- 22:59Speaker 1: it was like you could tell. It was like, Uh,
- 23:03Speaker 1: if she didn't have this other gift, she'd be very
- 23:05Speaker 1: successful at it. But that wasn't what made her excited
- 23:08Speaker 1: about life. And that's what you're talking about. When you're
- 23:11Speaker 1: giving people life coach advice. You're trying to push everybody,
- 23:15Speaker 1: not just a couple of people, everybody in the direction
- 23:18Speaker 1: of what makes you happy and if that makes you happy,
- 23:21Speaker 1: find out if you can make money with it and
- 23:23Speaker 1: make a living at it and then lead you to
- 23:27Speaker 1: a path of happiness for the rest of your life,
- 23:29Speaker 1: your legacy. That's it. Yeah, And I work with a
- 23:32Speaker 1: lot of celebrities in the industry. I work with a
- 23:34Speaker 1: lot of top executives of fortune Pussian companies, and I
- 23:37Speaker 1: give them the road back to make more money, to
- 23:39Speaker 1: be more successful. The thought I'm giving them rode back
- 23:42Speaker 1: to that, and a lot of them are extremely, extremely
- 23:45Speaker 1: successful as a result of the information that I gave them.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know, to Wanda Braxton, one of my good friends
- 23:50Speaker 1: from the Braxon family values, people I know very well,
- 23:54Speaker 1: from Salt and Pepper, or just to name a few
- 23:56Speaker 1: of the A list people that name out there. You know,
- 23:58Speaker 1: she's she's a Billity, been on the Gym and mccarthur show,
- 24:02Speaker 1: Angela Yee from the Breakfast Club show, lip Service. You've
- 24:06Speaker 1: been out there just babbler. Ain't your girl trying to
- 24:10Speaker 1: you know, make a monight to trying to make this
- 24:12Speaker 1: big impact as much as possible, the money making conversations.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Now you're gonna be a regular because like I gotta
- 24:21Speaker 1: bring you back on my Atlanta show so you can
- 24:23Speaker 1: take phone calls yea. Let me just ask you this
- 24:27Speaker 1: TJ the biggest uh you know, this gift and that
- 24:30Speaker 1: like that. They are always skeptics. Like you said, when
- 24:32Speaker 1: you do your reads on your live Instagram account, how
- 24:36Speaker 1: do people react or do they just I'm talking. I
- 24:38Speaker 1: shouldn't ask you that. I should say what is the
- 24:41Speaker 1: most um endearing uh smile that brings your faith? When
- 24:45Speaker 1: you start reading people about their life, people get emotional.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I get a lot of that, people crying. You know,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I've drown men crying when they speak with me because
- 24:54Speaker 1: I'm bringing up things that they are like, Wow, that
- 24:57Speaker 1: is it. That's what's keeping me stock. That's where I
- 25:00Speaker 1: can go to confidence, to belief in yourself. I restore
- 25:03Speaker 1: that in people's lives. So it's just it's a very
- 25:06Speaker 1: emotional experience in most cases because it's the truth about
- 25:10Speaker 1: your life and facing that. Sometimes it's not the easiest thing,
- 25:13Speaker 1: but it's necessarily well, you know, her goal whenever she
- 25:17Speaker 1: has a client is to inspire, empower and possibly impact people.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And you're one of those people all over the globe
- 25:24Speaker 1: by where they're her intuitive ability and her goal is
- 25:28Speaker 1: to help people reach and live at their highest potential.
- 25:31Speaker 1: To all aspects of their life. And right there is
- 25:34Speaker 1: when people get afraid and all aspects of their life.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Like you said, people you know the natural thing is
- 25:39Speaker 1: he cheating on me? Or he is he the one?
- 25:41Speaker 1: Or she'd the one? You know? Should not marry that person?
- 25:43Speaker 1: You know? Those are courtions that are are emotion. The
- 25:46Speaker 1: thing I like about you you you move from that
- 25:49Speaker 1: lane of emotion to professionalism, you know, And I said
- 25:53Speaker 1: that means careers, business objectives, decision making and things are
- 25:59Speaker 1: like that. How you're able to make that shift because
- 26:01Speaker 1: you were initially about emotionally dread a mostly request that
- 26:06Speaker 1: will driven by emotion. How is that whole transition to
- 26:10Speaker 1: the career aspect and the business aspect been so rewarding
- 26:13Speaker 1: for you as a reader? Absolutely so. I mean the
- 26:17Speaker 1: deep Dive session, which is my most popular session, gives
- 26:20Speaker 1: you up to sixteen minutes with me via FaceTime just
- 26:23Speaker 1: like this, and I am, I pray and I literally say,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm giving you the road map. We will cover health, wealth, love,
- 26:30Speaker 1: career finances, because we need to cover all points because
- 26:33Speaker 1: some things affects the other. Right, Sometimes if you're not
- 26:36Speaker 1: really needs to be with your career, you may be
- 26:38Speaker 1: black in your love life. Sometimes the career that you
- 26:40Speaker 1: have can be causing issues in your marriage. Sometimes you
- 26:44Speaker 1: know you want to buy a house, but you can't
- 26:45Speaker 1: because you're not making enough money. You're not starting that
- 26:47Speaker 1: business that you really want to start. So it's just
- 26:49Speaker 1: it's all connected anyway. And so it's an easy transition
- 26:52Speaker 1: in the conversation because I want to see you when
- 26:56Speaker 1: literally in all aspects of your life and even health,
- 26:58Speaker 1: health is wealth. If your health is not together, then
- 27:00Speaker 1: the business and the money doesn't matter. So let's get
- 27:02Speaker 1: that in tight. So we're having real, full, flexed conversations
- 27:06Speaker 1: about literally everything, and those conversations can lead to financial success,
- 27:11Speaker 1: life success and when when your when your clients come
- 27:14Speaker 1: back to you, because these are not sessions that are
- 27:17Speaker 1: wornt off. I'm just tell everybody, don't don't do do
- 27:19Speaker 1: not call TAJ if you try to get a miracle
- 27:22Speaker 1: in one session. This is a this is the word
- 27:25Speaker 1: life coach is important that you hear, which means that
- 27:29Speaker 1: you gotta be with her for a moment because she
- 27:30Speaker 1: wants to be there. When as you start making your goals,
- 27:34Speaker 1: because you have to reset new goals. So a lot
- 27:36Speaker 1: of people fall off. When they do that, they think,
- 27:38Speaker 1: woll have I made it? No? No, no, no, there's
- 27:40Speaker 1: a new goal. It's just like when Tom Brady want
- 27:42Speaker 1: the Super Bowl? What did you say, I want to
- 27:44Speaker 1: win another one? Okay he didn't say, well could and
- 27:48Speaker 1: a lot of people all happened just to win one
- 27:49Speaker 1: super Bowl. That's why they never get back. But you
- 27:52Speaker 1: look at talent, the people where there's a Michael George
- 27:54Speaker 1: or Lebron James, all these people year ound when you
- 27:57Speaker 1: story like Lebron James said, why's Lebron James ain't so
- 28:00Speaker 1: well at his age because he travels and spends over
- 28:04Speaker 1: a million dollars annually on his physical fitness. That's why
- 28:09Speaker 1: he can play like he's twenty two. And so when
- 28:11Speaker 1: you come to TAGE, know that you better come there
- 28:14Speaker 1: with the expectation that there's work involved, positive work, because
- 28:17Speaker 1: it's about you, and don't let work scare you, especially
- 28:21Speaker 1: when you're for the first time in your life. She's
- 28:23Speaker 1: gonna point you in the direction of happiness, and that
- 28:26Speaker 1: happiness would be achieved through your goals that she's gonna
- 28:29Speaker 1: put in place once she reads you. That put it
- 28:32Speaker 1: in perspective, that put it in place correctly, Tosh, that
- 28:36Speaker 1: is exactly what I do. Well. You know the thing
- 28:38Speaker 1: about it is that again she's a friend of the
- 28:40Speaker 1: family and I take no credit for her gift. I
- 28:43Speaker 1: take no credit for her success. It's just that relationships
- 28:47Speaker 1: are equally important your life, and I'm a positive relationship
- 28:49Speaker 1: in her life. I'm a mentor in her life. And
- 28:52Speaker 1: because we all need that, she wants to become a
- 28:54Speaker 1: mentor in your life. To reach out to on an
- 28:57Speaker 1: Instagram account as well and go to the website. More importantly,
- 29:02Speaker 1: know that she's there for you. I'm a friend, um.
- 29:05Speaker 1: I would like to say, you know, I'm a member
- 29:07Speaker 1: of the family from the standpoint of how much I
- 29:10Speaker 1: respect you, Tash, and how much I want you to win. Okay,
- 29:14Speaker 1: thank you for everything that you've done for me. I'm
- 29:16Speaker 1: so thankful for you. We will be right back with
- 29:18Speaker 1: more Money Making Conversation with Rushan McDonald. You are now
- 29:23Speaker 1: tuned into the Money Making Conversations Minute of Inspiration with
- 29:27Speaker 1: Rushan McDonald. This week, I said that with What Winning
- 29:30Speaker 1: Multimedia Maverick Talent Manager, Executive Abusive Arthur and CEO Mona
- 29:34Speaker 1: Scott Young, she provides advice on taking the time to
- 29:37Speaker 1: appreciate where you are. You gotta keep it and keep
- 29:40Speaker 1: it moving. But you know what I've been thinking about
- 29:41Speaker 1: a lot rasant lately, just the need to sit still
- 29:44Speaker 1: for a minute and to appreciate who you are right
- 29:46Speaker 1: now in the moment. And it's not about I mean complacent.
- 29:50Speaker 1: It's about taking stock and showing yourself appreciation right for
- 29:55Speaker 1: what you've a published and then using that to propel
- 29:57Speaker 1: you to the next stage. Because a lot of times,
- 30:00Speaker 1: like you said, well, go go, go, go go, that
- 30:02Speaker 1: we don't stop to really recognize where we've come from,
- 30:06Speaker 1: where we are in the moment, and how we can
- 30:08Speaker 1: take all of that experience, knowledge, know how you know,
- 30:13Speaker 1: and and use it as we move forward. If we
- 30:16Speaker 1: were to listen to this four interview with Mona Scott
- 30:18Speaker 1: Young is available on Mindy Making Conversations dot com. Now
- 30:22Speaker 1: let's return to money Making Conversation with Rushan McDonald. Progressive
- 30:26Speaker 1: Forest metaphors about bundling your homon auto and sports three
- 30:31Speaker 1: goals is a hat trick, and when you bundle your
- 30:33Speaker 1: home and auto with Progressive, you get a hat trick
- 30:35Speaker 1: of great savings and around the clock protection. So you
- 30:37Speaker 1: might be thinking, wait, that's two things. A hat trick
- 30:39Speaker 1: is three, but in this metaphor, great savings counts as
- 30:42Speaker 1: two goals and sewed us around the clock protection, so
- 30:44Speaker 1: it's like four goals and that's more than three. It's

- 31:36Speaker 1: Wacome mile in my shoes, walcome shoes. We've all felt

- 31:50Speaker 1: AD Council. Welcome mile in Machine, Welcome to Money Making Conversation.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I am your host for Sean McDonald. I say this
- 32:00Speaker 1: every week. It's time for people to stop reading other
- 32:03Speaker 1: people's success stories to start writing your own. People always
- 32:06Speaker 1: talking about gifts and passions. If you have a gift,
- 32:08Speaker 1: lead with your gift and don't let your age, friends, family,
- 32:11Speaker 1: or coworker stop you from planning or living your dream.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I nive you celebrities, CEOs, entrepreneurs and industry decision makers
- 32:18Speaker 1: on my show. My guest today is a Leah Williams
- 32:21Speaker 1: from Oklahoma and Arkansas. You know I had to say
- 32:24Speaker 1: that because I'm a Texas boy. I got to go
- 32:26Speaker 1: let everybody. Whenever somebody come near Texas, I got little
- 32:29Speaker 1: my up front. She is a graduate of Harvard University,
- 32:33Speaker 1: Pebody Award nominated producer and founder of Just the Rebel
- 32:37Speaker 1: and television and film production company, and focuses on contemporary
- 32:40Speaker 1: stories that center and celebrate Black women. I have six sisters,
- 32:44Speaker 1: so I appreciate that Just the Rebels first Look deal
- 32:47Speaker 1: with CBS Television Studios has been renewed for a second year.
- 32:51Speaker 1: She is on the on the show to discuss her career,
- 32:54Speaker 1: the journey, and the future of her production company. Just
- 32:57Speaker 1: a rebel, please work with the money making conversation. But
- 32:59Speaker 1: if her first time, not the last time. A Leah Williams,
- 33:03Speaker 1: how you doing, Leo? You know I'm doing all right
- 33:06Speaker 1: this morning. It's lovely to be here with you. Well.
- 33:08Speaker 1: The beauty of this doing visual and doing video. I
- 33:12Speaker 1: can see this brilliant smile that you have is it
- 33:14Speaker 1: has to be a blessing to be able to deliver
- 33:18Speaker 1: a smile like that, especially when you meet people. You
- 33:21Speaker 1: you're pitching ideas and your smile it is sunshine, young ladies, sunshine,
- 33:26Speaker 1: tell us about that. Tell you about my smile. Absolutely,
- 33:30Speaker 1: come on, because you come on, come on the live.
- 33:32Speaker 1: This ain't the first time you've been complimented about this
- 33:35Speaker 1: fantastic smile. This smile has been you to close deals.
- 33:39Speaker 1: This smile has been you to get in building she's
- 33:42Speaker 1: not supposed to be in. I know this smile and
- 33:46Speaker 1: this is gonna go SI you talking about this person,
- 33:50Speaker 1: Thank you very much. But I have to give all
- 33:53Speaker 1: that credit to my mother's Stay William. I think that
- 33:58Speaker 1: she would say to me every day, every morning, she
- 34:01Speaker 1: would say this to me and my sister Kia, smile
- 34:04Speaker 1: and the world will smile with you. And she would
- 34:08Speaker 1: she would say that, and she'd always sell us to
- 34:09Speaker 1: close their mouths and listen. I didn't always do that,
- 34:12Speaker 1: but the smile in the world will smile with you
- 34:15Speaker 1: is um, something that I've always carried with me and um,
- 34:20Speaker 1: you know, there are definitely situations where it is hard
- 34:23Speaker 1: to smile, UM, but I definitely try to bring that
- 34:28Speaker 1: into all aspects of my life, UM, and especially in
- 34:32Speaker 1: the stories that I want to tell. For black people,
- 34:34Speaker 1: I think we deserve joy. And you know, it's one
- 34:38Speaker 1: of the reasons why, uh my logo for my company,
- 34:41Speaker 1: I've wanted to find the brightest yellow possible, um ok,
- 34:46Speaker 1: that we deserve joy. I mean yeah, even even the
- 34:49Speaker 1: drama UM projects that I have, there are some levity
- 34:53Speaker 1: to them because I do believe that, UM, too many
- 34:56Speaker 1: times black stories are relegated to the drama that we
- 35:00Speaker 1: carry versus all of the other amazing aspects that we
- 35:05Speaker 1: are as a people. Well, you know the reason I
- 35:07Speaker 1: bring that up because when you come on my show,
- 35:09Speaker 1: I'm a guy, I'm a very visual guy, and I
- 35:11Speaker 1: noticed things and that's my third eye, I can see things,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and I see blessings. And your smile is a blessing.
- 35:17Speaker 1: And a lot of people don't realize that that's just
- 35:19Speaker 1: those simple gifts that God give you can enable you to,
- 35:23Speaker 1: you know, make your dreams come true, enable you to
- 35:26Speaker 1: o well, create opportunities that wouldn't be available for ordinary people.
- 35:30Speaker 1: And it's it's important to take advantage of all these talents.
- 35:33Speaker 1: That's one talent, your ability is that you're very articulate
- 35:38Speaker 1: and so and you know, because we once you say,
- 35:40Speaker 1: as Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas. You know, they always have these
- 35:44Speaker 1: stereotypes and then when they throw this then you're black.
- 35:47Speaker 1: That's even deeper stereotypes. And then you're throwing at the
- 35:50Speaker 1: front of your resume Harvard graduate. Come on girl, come
- 35:53Speaker 1: on now, yes, yes, no, I I'm very proud of
- 36:01Speaker 1: the opportunities that you know, my my parents pushed me
- 36:04Speaker 1: towards and that I, um, you know, actively work towards.
- 36:09Speaker 1: And um I had a wonderful experience at Harvard UM.
- 36:14Speaker 1: You know, going there is an eighteen year old after
- 36:16Speaker 1: growing up in the South and the Midwest, UM was
- 36:20Speaker 1: definitely a culture shock in a lot of different ways.
- 36:22Speaker 1: But It just opened me up to so many incredible people,
- 36:26Speaker 1: so many incredible experiences, UM and UM really shaped who
- 36:31Speaker 1: I am in a lot of different ways. And UM.
- 36:35Speaker 1: You know, one thing that will say about a Harvard
- 36:38Speaker 1: College education, like it's not necessarily about what you concentrated in,
- 36:43Speaker 1: like what your major was. Um, it really was a
- 36:45Speaker 1: curriculum that challenged you to think and how do you
- 36:49Speaker 1: um open up your perspective on the world. UM And
- 36:53Speaker 1: so uh and you know, so many of the people
- 36:56Speaker 1: that I met UM from that time are still uh
- 37:00Speaker 1: a huge part of my life in a lot of
- 37:03Speaker 1: different ways. UM. I you know, I'm I'm a little
- 37:07Speaker 1: sad this morning because this weekend I lost one of
- 37:10Speaker 1: my dearest friends who lost her battle with cancer. Double
- 37:14Speaker 1: Harvard graduate Christina Donaldson, who was a big sister to
- 37:17Speaker 1: me and also a beacon in terms of her entrepreneurial
- 37:21Speaker 1: journey UM as the founder of Thank God I'm Natural
- 37:25Speaker 1: hair product line. UM. But anyway, Harvard was a wonderful
- 37:29Speaker 1: experience and I'm super glad that that's part of who
- 37:32Speaker 1: I am. Well, you know, I'm a cancer survivor. So
- 37:35Speaker 1: when everyone anyone, I lose a friend, use a caller
- 37:38Speaker 1: A friend. And I don't know her, but I know
- 37:40Speaker 1: she fought the same battle that I'm fighting all the time.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Because just because you surviving doesn't necessarily mean that cancer
- 37:45Speaker 1: is not going to come back. But what it does
- 37:47Speaker 1: allow me to understand that you have to live your
- 37:49Speaker 1: life and your dreams are possible as long as you
- 37:52Speaker 1: planned them't so, and I see you as a planner,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you know, because of the fact that you have never
- 37:57Speaker 1: let stereotypes, stereotype of being an African America from female stereotype,
- 38:01Speaker 1: coming from the South, coming from Oklahoma, aucashol And then
- 38:05Speaker 1: you went to Harvard, you graduated, How did you migrate
- 38:08Speaker 1: to Los Angeles? Leah? You know it was? It was.
- 38:12Speaker 1: It was a fun, windy worad Um. I didn't necessarily,
- 38:15Speaker 1: you know, coming from having Southern black parents. After going
- 38:19Speaker 1: to Harvard, they were like, Okay, you're going to bed school.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You want to be in school? Like what graduate school
- 38:23Speaker 1: are you doing? And I really wasn't clear. Um. So
- 38:26Speaker 1: I worked in financial services in New York and Chicago
- 38:30Speaker 1: and strategy UM, and I did, like every you know
- 38:33Speaker 1: other good graduate of my class was preparing my applications
- 38:37Speaker 1: to business school. UM and gratefully I am an alum
- 38:41Speaker 1: of the Ron Brown Scholar Program, and they put on
- 38:44Speaker 1: a conference. Um the first time they put on a
- 38:47Speaker 1: conference about the arts and entertainment industry. UM and UH,
- 38:51Speaker 1: a wonderful man, Charles King gave a fireside chat about
- 38:55Speaker 1: his life as a super agent, and I was like,
- 38:56Speaker 1: oh my god, this is so interesting. It was like
- 38:58Speaker 1: the first time that I heard the the phrase like,
- 39:00Speaker 1: you know, the intersection of art and commerce, which was
- 39:03Speaker 1: so interesting to me. UM. Malcolm d Lee gave a
- 39:07Speaker 1: talk about how he had, you know, put together the
- 39:10Speaker 1: best man and UM, I just connected with a lot
- 39:12Speaker 1: of different folks that showed me that there was this
- 39:15Speaker 1: creative path that I didn't realize was a real career UM.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And so I was unfulfilled in what I was doing.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I was doing well, but it just didn't completely feel
- 39:26Speaker 1: all every aspect of who I am. And so UM,
- 39:30Speaker 1: I took the leap. I quit my job. You know,
- 39:33Speaker 1: I had friends out in l A who were in
- 39:35Speaker 1: very studies as a film school, and I moved out
- 39:38Speaker 1: to l A, drove across country from New York and
- 39:41Speaker 1: UM a week after I got here, after having some
- 39:43Speaker 1: informational UH coffees and conversations with literally anyone that I
- 39:48Speaker 1: could connect within my network. Um I started working in
- 39:53Speaker 1: the mail room at Endeavor, one of the major talent
- 39:57Speaker 1: agencies which is now called w ME. But um I
- 40:00Speaker 1: started in the mail room. After two weeks, one of
- 40:04Speaker 1: the partners put me in the motion picture lit group,
- 40:07Speaker 1: which was a great experience to really kind of get
- 40:10Speaker 1: to know the industry. UM and hone my ability to
- 40:15Speaker 1: you know, read scripts, understand different writers and directors, get
- 40:19Speaker 1: a sense of what my taste was in a lot
- 40:22Speaker 1: of different ways. And you know, from that one year
- 40:25Speaker 1: of working at the agency, um one of the agents
- 40:28Speaker 1: connected me with my first job out of the agency,
- 40:31Speaker 1: working for an incredible producer, Effie Brown. But let's go
- 40:36Speaker 1: back to that mail room experience because a lot of
- 40:38Speaker 1: people don't realize that that is how you break into
- 40:41Speaker 1: the big agency world is the mail room. And uh
- 40:45Speaker 1: a lot often times the mail room doesn't come with pay,
- 40:48Speaker 1: and your situation would and so a lot of people
- 40:50Speaker 1: don't know that. You know, so you work in the middle.
- 40:53Speaker 1: This did come with pay, was a lot of pay, right,
- 40:57Speaker 1: So it feels like no pay, don't I'm just saying
- 41:00Speaker 1: it feels like no pay coming from you know, I was,
- 41:03Speaker 1: I had a decent salary and four oh one case
- 41:08Speaker 1: like my dad was like, so we wait. And that's
- 41:11Speaker 1: the funny part about this conversation that you're having with
- 41:13Speaker 1: your parents, Like when I when I told my mom
- 41:15Speaker 1: and dad, you know, I go to your age and
- 41:17Speaker 1: get a math degree, mind and sociology, and then I
- 41:20Speaker 1: go work for IBM, and I tell them I'm equited
- 41:22Speaker 1: to be a stand up comedian. So that's the extreme. Okay,
- 41:25Speaker 1: that's what I told my parents, all right, and they went, okay,
- 41:28Speaker 1: we love you, but humble. So you go from Oklahoma, Texas,
- 41:33Speaker 1: go to Harvard, right, I got this great job in
- 41:36Speaker 1: New York. Drive across the country and you're working in
- 41:38Speaker 1: the mayor room for way less money. Talk about that conversation,
- 41:42Speaker 1: because that's where a lot of people don't understand that
- 41:44Speaker 1: you have to sacrifice and then also times you got
- 41:47Speaker 1: to take a step back to take to take some steps.
- 41:50Speaker 1: If that's a step back though, you know, when you
- 41:52Speaker 1: when I hear people say that, because that's part of
- 41:54Speaker 1: the process, because you said going out on faith. When
- 41:57Speaker 1: you're going out on faith, that means that there's a
- 42:00Speaker 1: plan in process, and you know, like you know, and
- 42:02Speaker 1: I know. If you want to get in the big agency,
- 42:04Speaker 1: you gotta get in that mail room. And when you're
- 42:06Speaker 1: able mayor room, you have to be humble on top
- 42:08Speaker 1: of your job. You keep walking around that with no attitude.
- 42:11Speaker 1: You get to see all the top game You get
- 42:12Speaker 1: to see stars come through those doors. You can mega
- 42:16Speaker 1: producers and directors that you read about in the entertainment magazines.
- 42:20Speaker 1: So you can't be oh my god, and so you
- 42:22Speaker 1: have to be professional all the time. So when I
- 42:25Speaker 1: don't really see as a step backwards when I hear
- 42:28Speaker 1: people say that, because you said it from the beginning, Rocha,
- 42:31Speaker 1: I went on faith, Faith is a plan. I would
- 42:33Speaker 1: tell people you have to have a plan when you
- 42:35Speaker 1: do something on faith. I'm sorry. And then, but what
- 42:39Speaker 1: did your parents say when they told you you told
- 42:41Speaker 1: him he was in the mail room. That's the funny,
- 42:42Speaker 1: but that's the part of the conversations I want to
- 42:44Speaker 1: hear a little. My dad was like, wait a minute,
- 42:49Speaker 1: so you're telling me that you went to Harvard and
- 42:53Speaker 1: now you're basically a goper like and I was like, okay, Dad,
- 43:01Speaker 1: I want you to read this book the mail room.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Like he was trying he was just you know, he
- 43:06Speaker 1: was trying to work. He's like, I don't understand, but
- 43:12Speaker 1: like they were super supportive. I was like, listen, I'm
- 43:14Speaker 1: given myself two years to figure this out. UM. And
- 43:19Speaker 1: I you know, I worked there was a company that
- 43:22Speaker 1: I had studied for, the GMT with that thankfully allowed
- 43:26Speaker 1: me to start working for them. And so I while
- 43:29Speaker 1: I was working for you know, all my jobs working
- 43:32Speaker 1: for different people as an assistant, I was also tutoring
- 43:36Speaker 1: for the GMAT on the side. He would have different
- 43:39Speaker 1: clients and teaching classes virtually, so that supplemented my income. Also,
- 43:43Speaker 1: you know, writing coverage scripts to add add money. So
- 43:46Speaker 1: you just do what you gotta do. And then, UM,
- 43:49Speaker 1: you know, my path was always working for other people
- 43:52Speaker 1: while also making content on my own with different writers
- 43:56Speaker 1: and directors in my network, UM and building that way.
- 44:00Speaker 1: And so you know, most of the times I would
- 44:03Speaker 1: work with people who were very supportive of that. Sometimes
- 44:06Speaker 1: that conflicted and you had to kind of I had
- 44:08Speaker 1: to kind of navigate that. UM. But as my career
- 44:11Speaker 1: went on, you know, it all merged and so you know,
- 44:14Speaker 1: my jobs at UM, Like when I got to working
- 44:18Speaker 1: at Macro, UM, that was my job was to make
- 44:21Speaker 1: content and I always told Charles it was. It was
- 44:23Speaker 1: my dream job at the time, which was wonderful because
- 44:27Speaker 1: I got to learn from him and people like Poppy
- 44:29Speaker 1: Hanks and can Roth and UM really had a lot
- 44:33Speaker 1: of um I'd say, license to not just do short
- 44:38Speaker 1: form content, but also to explore and learn about long
- 44:42Speaker 1: form content. And so, you know, one of the first
- 44:45Speaker 1: digital projects that I brought up in UM became the
- 44:49Speaker 1: television show Hint to Side that is now in its
- 44:51Speaker 1: second season on Netflix. UM and I was the one
- 44:54Speaker 1: that brought in the movie Really Love, written by Felicia
- 44:58Speaker 1: Pride and directed by Angel Christie Williams, who also co
- 45:02Speaker 1: wrote the script, and UM, you know, after after making
- 45:07Speaker 1: that movie, we'll be right back with more money making
- 45:09Speaker 1: conversation with television and film producer A Leah Williams. Adoption

- 46:47Speaker 1: as I continue our conversations with television and field producer
- 46:51Speaker 1: A Leah william Let's Pump, Let's pump. The brakes now
- 46:53Speaker 1: right now are really low? Okay, really low. Now. That's
- 46:56Speaker 1: that's what we're gonna talk a little detail about this
- 46:58Speaker 1: because you know, it's just asked read that I said
- 47:01Speaker 1: iconic love Story a k A. Love Jones. You know. Okay,
- 47:06Speaker 1: you know they got my titcher right there. They got
- 47:09Speaker 1: my titcher right there, Love Jump. That's my movie right there. Okay,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Nia long come on now smoking word. Well it's funny
- 47:20Speaker 1: because so I you know, when I first found out
- 47:23Speaker 1: about the script um, I had been following Angel for
- 47:27Speaker 1: a while. I really loved her short films. Um you
- 47:30Speaker 1: become very friendly and brand in the same you know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: black filmmaker circles. And she was on the set of
- 47:37Speaker 1: a project that I produced, Collamer park Um, which she
- 47:42Speaker 1: is also on BT Plus right now. Absolutely and La
- 47:44Speaker 1: mur park is right in uhr print y'all right in
- 47:48Speaker 1: fifteen year Beautiful Area, Grateful Wonderful digital series created by
- 47:55Speaker 1: this wonderful women, and she happened to be on set
- 47:58Speaker 1: supporting her friend Mel Jones, and, um, she came up
- 48:02Speaker 1: to me when I was going I was gonna go
- 48:03Speaker 1: offset to go grab like some Jamaican patties as a
- 48:06Speaker 1: treat for the crew and everybody, and she's like, you know,
- 48:10Speaker 1: I really want to talk to you. I was like, well,
- 48:11Speaker 1: you don't enroll me while I don't get these patties.
- 48:13Speaker 1: She was like yeah. So she was like, you know,
- 48:15Speaker 1: I really wanted to talk to you because I think
- 48:17Speaker 1: I finally found the script that's gonna be my future
- 48:21Speaker 1: my first future film that I'm going to direct. And
- 48:23Speaker 1: I was like, oh, really, tell me about it and
- 48:24Speaker 1: she's like, well, it's it's basically I feel like it
- 48:29Speaker 1: could be the next Love Jones. And I was like, Angel,
- 48:31Speaker 1: you cannot say that. Come on, come on, come on,
- 48:35Speaker 1: come on down right. It's like it's like, Angel, those
- 48:40Speaker 1: are fighting words. It was not true. So, um, but
- 48:43Speaker 1: I was very intrigued, and she was really excited. And
- 48:45Speaker 1: Angel is you know, she's very particular and I knew
- 48:49Speaker 1: if it was something that was that special to her
- 48:50Speaker 1: that I wanted to read it and see um. And
- 48:53Speaker 1: so she gave me the script and I remember that
- 48:56Speaker 1: weekend I was just gonna like take a little peek
- 48:58Speaker 1: at it, but I couldn't stop reading and UM I
- 49:01Speaker 1: called her immediately, and I remember, you know, the first
- 49:04Speaker 1: time I sat down with her and Felicia, I knew
- 49:07Speaker 1: that I needed to bring this into macro and um
- 49:11Speaker 1: and yeah, and then from there we developed it UM
- 49:13Speaker 1: and producing that with Charles and mel Jones, who had
- 49:19Speaker 1: produced all of Angel shorts prior prior to this. UM.
- 49:24Speaker 1: It was just a really um incredible process. And UM,
- 49:29Speaker 1: it's a story that you know, I don't I wouldn't
- 49:31Speaker 1: say that it is like love Jones. I think it
- 49:34Speaker 1: has you know, this kind of like lasting style and
- 49:39Speaker 1: it makes this impression on you that definitely like let's
- 49:42Speaker 1: just talk about it because so you know, like, uh, Netflix,
- 49:46Speaker 1: I love what they're doing with for African American culture
- 49:49Speaker 1: and naturally international culture African African Americans and Africans period.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Being able to to launch their projects in a hundreds
- 49:58Speaker 1: and nanny countries. You're not being restricted to a domestic audience.
- 50:03Speaker 1: And so your brand is being a showcase worldwide. You know. Uh,
- 50:08Speaker 1: you know, I've been able to learn about wine on Netflix,
- 50:12Speaker 1: you know, and then so that so I I've seen
- 50:15Speaker 1: this in the art work now art my boy Michael
- 50:18Speaker 1: Eally who you know he did think like a man
- 50:20Speaker 1: and think like a man too to the executive produced
- 50:23Speaker 1: with Steve Harvey started caring on and my boy Will Packers.
- 50:26Speaker 1: So I know Michael Eliot, so I saw him in there,
- 50:28Speaker 1: So okay, that's my boy. So it started picking up
- 50:30Speaker 1: speed really fast with your boy here, you know what
- 50:33Speaker 1: I'm saying. And I got to watch it, and I
- 50:35Speaker 1: got to watch a really um you know, I would
- 50:38Speaker 1: think that I would say that movies should entertain and educate. Yes,
- 50:43Speaker 1: and then when you do when you when it does that,
- 50:46Speaker 1: then it makes an emotional impact on you. You know,
- 50:51Speaker 1: because it doesn't entertain you, you you you out, it
- 50:54Speaker 1: doesn't educate you, then what are you watching? You know
- 50:56Speaker 1: you have to walk away with I don't know what
- 50:59Speaker 1: I watching. It was what okay, So so this movie
- 51:02Speaker 1: gave me the three things that I needed. It entertained me,
- 51:05Speaker 1: it educated me, and it pulled an emotion and emotion
- 51:08Speaker 1: was tied to art and ar like you have a
- 51:12Speaker 1: beautiful if you see this, if you're on my podcast
- 51:15Speaker 1: audio wise, just as beautiful African art behind her, and
- 51:19Speaker 1: it just happens to be women. And uh as we
- 51:21Speaker 1: all know, you know, you know, her company just a
- 51:24Speaker 1: rebel works on project that brings the voices of Black
- 51:27Speaker 1: women in their black stories. So this is appropriate this conversation.
- 51:31Speaker 1: We haven't. And so when you tell a story that's important,
- 51:34Speaker 1: especially in any relationship, you're defining the voice of a woman.
- 51:38Speaker 1: What's the key I guess language are angle that you're
- 51:42Speaker 1: looking for to make sure that the message of empowerment
- 51:45Speaker 1: and proper decision making is put out there correctly. Well,
- 51:50Speaker 1: I will say, um, one of the things that drew
- 51:52Speaker 1: me to it, Uh, you know, just even from the
- 51:55Speaker 1: initial script, I know that Um, Felicia Pride, the writer
- 52:00Speaker 1: who had you know, had been working on the store
- 52:03Speaker 1: for a while. Her mangle was to show black women
- 52:07Speaker 1: and you know, young black people as themselves, you know, loving,
- 52:15Speaker 1: loving each other, striving together, striving for their aspirations and
- 52:21Speaker 1: um and showing that in a real way where you
- 52:25Speaker 1: you you fail, you make mistakes. So UM, I think
- 52:30Speaker 1: the empowerment comes from just being able to see yourself
- 52:36Speaker 1: as a real, whole human. Um. You know, I don't
- 52:40Speaker 1: necessarily go into projects saying, Okay, how can I show
- 52:45Speaker 1: the most positive UM portrayal of a character. I really
- 52:51Speaker 1: go into them thinking, you know, is this authentic? Is
- 52:56Speaker 1: this interesting? Um? Are they're compelling stays for this character?
- 53:01Speaker 1: And you know whether there's uh comedic ask tone to
- 53:06Speaker 1: it or a more serious and dramatic tone to it. Um.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I just wanted to feel um, real and thoughtful. Well.
- 53:16Speaker 1: You know the thing this movie touched me in a
- 53:19Speaker 1: lot of ways emotionally because of the fact that Suzanne Douglas. Uh.
- 53:24Speaker 1: One of my first writing projects I did in five
- 53:27Speaker 1: was with Robert Townsend's Parenthood, and she's one of the
- 53:31Speaker 1: co stars in that series and and so and I'm
- 53:34Speaker 1: Blair I Underwood, who I know as well. But seeing
- 53:36Speaker 1: Suzanne and she was just one of her last projects
- 53:39Speaker 1: that she did before she passed away, But that was
- 53:43Speaker 1: I was just you know, just seeing her the gifts
- 53:46Speaker 1: her talent radio on that screen like that. It really
- 53:51Speaker 1: just lets me know the blessings of seeing people like
- 53:54Speaker 1: you who are now able to tell the voices and
- 53:57Speaker 1: all out talents like like Coup Player, Likeael Suzanne, like
- 54:01Speaker 1: so many others that I'm being able to interview on
- 54:04Speaker 1: my show. Now, just a rubble is just doing what
- 54:07Speaker 1: it's supposed to do. You you're flipping the table, You're
- 54:09Speaker 1: telling our stories. You know you can. Let me be clear.
- 54:13Speaker 1: So I really love is a project that um I
- 54:16Speaker 1: did when I was working in Macro. And I know
- 54:19Speaker 1: I know all that, but don't I'm not understanding. I'm
- 54:22Speaker 1: not I heard that Macro. That's my boy Chars team.
- 54:24Speaker 1: I just want to make that I got that. You know,
- 54:26Speaker 1: they messed up this interview. I'm talking about you. You okay, you.
- 54:31Speaker 1: She she want to get those little B patties with you, okay,
- 54:34Speaker 1: the Jamaican B patties and as you and told you
- 54:37Speaker 1: her next project. You said, girl, tell me about it,
- 54:39Speaker 1: okay you Yeah, yeah, that's just a rebel. That's when
- 54:43Speaker 1: I read up there amplifying voices and tries our best
- 54:46Speaker 1: to ensure she is showcasing accurate, depicting the black stories.
- 54:50Speaker 1: That's you. Yeah, you was a Macro. Now you're just
- 54:53Speaker 1: a rubble. Now you gotta first look deal with CBR
- 54:55Speaker 1: Television studios and being renewed for a second year. Tell
- 54:58Speaker 1: us about those projects, how to bring it back to
- 55:01Speaker 1: Leah I love. Well, Before we do that, I just
- 55:05Speaker 1: do want to say the experience of working with Sudann
- 55:08Speaker 1: Douglas was absolutely incredible. I mean she was just a
- 55:11Speaker 1: light on set every single time. And I remember like
- 55:14Speaker 1: when she her first day that she came to set. Um, uh,
- 55:18Speaker 1: my producing partner Mel Jones and I went to read
- 55:21Speaker 1: her and she just like grabbed our faces and she
- 55:24Speaker 1: was like, you two are the producers, beautiful baby girls.
- 55:30Speaker 1: And it's just but it wasn't any type of like
- 55:33Speaker 1: you know, um, there was nothing um, you know, negative
- 55:39Speaker 1: to what she was saying. She was just saying it
- 55:41Speaker 1: was so much love and so much affirmation. And she
- 55:45Speaker 1: just every time, um, every time I saw her on set,
- 55:48Speaker 1: she would always pantingly the side and just and just
- 55:50Speaker 1: tell me, like keep going, like you have to do.
- 55:53Speaker 1: What you're doing is just so wonderful to see you
- 55:56Speaker 1: as a young black woman producing and um, being in charge.
- 56:01Speaker 1: And that was just so wonderful. Well, the CBS television
- 56:05Speaker 1: studios think you're wonderful too, just like a rebel. Yes, no,
- 56:09Speaker 1: they are wonderful partners. There see see I love them.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Just tell you this, just like Ms. Douglas said to you,
- 56:16Speaker 1: and this is not condescending. You're special because I'm gonna
- 56:20Speaker 1: jay this. I've been in rules pitching projects. You know,
- 56:23Speaker 1: you have to have a gift to give against people
- 56:26Speaker 1: to give you money to be creative in this world. Okay,
- 56:29Speaker 1: they're not just passing out checks that they don't because
- 56:33Speaker 1: I've been trying to get a few of and people
- 56:38Speaker 1: like to believe I'm really talented, and people like believe
- 56:40Speaker 1: I'm really successful. So when I meet a talent like
- 56:43Speaker 1: you who come along and able to tell our stories,
- 56:47Speaker 1: you know, and this is just one example. Really, love
- 56:49Speaker 1: is just one of examples that gentifires, just one example. Well,
- 56:52Speaker 1: she's gonna go with her voice and her control and
- 56:55Speaker 1: the ability to be able to communicate, whether it's Sitcom
- 56:58Speaker 1: with its dramas, whether it's him or what his docuseries.
- 57:02Speaker 1: That's your craft. And you know the fact that you
- 57:05Speaker 1: decided one day in New York City said this is
- 57:08Speaker 1: this is fine for somebody else, but this is not
- 57:10Speaker 1: fine for Leah Williams. That's the blessing of who you
- 57:14Speaker 1: are today. Okay, that's a blessing when you saw Malcolm Lee.
- 57:18Speaker 1: You know, she throw out some names early interview macolm Lee,
- 57:22Speaker 1: Charles Kane. You know, you know, you know, you know
- 57:26Speaker 1: how to dropped the Mike Earl in this interview with
- 57:28Speaker 1: Leah Charles Kane. You know I heard him, Michael Lee.
- 57:33Speaker 1: That's why that was blessed to hear them speak and
- 57:35Speaker 1: share their experience. UM. I was really blessed to connect
- 57:40Speaker 1: it with James White, who wrote the movie Ray that
- 57:42Speaker 1: had come out the year before. And um, you know
- 57:46Speaker 1: in our conversations, UM, we you know, we exchanged information
- 57:50Speaker 1: and he asked me like, have you ever read a
- 57:52Speaker 1: professional script before? Like, no, but I haven't actually, And
- 57:56Speaker 1: he was like, tell me about the type of movies
- 57:58Speaker 1: that you like and so, and he asked for my address,
- 58:02Speaker 1: and I remember, like a week or so later, I
- 58:05Speaker 1: got this package, UM that had all these printed out
- 58:09Speaker 1: scripts uh closer, UM Thomas Crown Affair After Sunset, some
- 58:16Speaker 1: other some other things. Because he wanted to meet her,
- 58:18Speaker 1: you know, really read a range of scripts. And he
- 58:21Speaker 1: was like, and if you ever want to talk about him,
- 58:23Speaker 1: let's talk about um. And because at the time I
- 58:26Speaker 1: had a former classmate who had a script that she
- 58:29Speaker 1: wanted me to produce and I was like, I don't,
- 58:32Speaker 1: how do you give notes? And James White walked me
- 58:35Speaker 1: through that. Um, And obviously I learned some more once
- 58:38Speaker 1: I came to l A and started working for a
- 58:40Speaker 1: lot of the wonderful folks that I've had the opportunity
- 58:43Speaker 1: to work for and taking classes with Film Independent and
- 58:46Speaker 1: all of that good stuff. Um, but it was it
- 58:49Speaker 1: all started with that amazing conference from the Ron Brown
- 58:52Speaker 1: Scholar Program. I'm speaking with a Leoh Williams. She's the
- 58:55Speaker 1: rebel of Just a Rebel Production company focuses on television
- 58:59Speaker 1: and film that shifts the culture forward their home to

- 59:26Speaker 1: I'm saying, it's just like when remember Susan Dugetas grabbed
- 59:29Speaker 1: your face and go girl. I'm so happy to see
- 59:32Speaker 1: you because I'm you're younger than me, so you know,
- 59:35Speaker 1: I know, like I said, I met Susanne nteen five,
- 59:37Speaker 1: Robert Townson gave you my Really, I always tell them
- 59:40Speaker 1: he saved my writing career as a sitcom writer. If
- 59:42Speaker 1: he didn't give me that job, then I wouldn't be
- 59:44Speaker 1: interviewing you today. So we all have these these mentors,
