- 1:39Speaker 1: you know she can sing. You know something I can't do.
- 1:41Speaker 1: She can sing. Co host of TVs TV one sister
- 1:44Speaker 1: Circle Live. That's why I for the first time I
- 1:47Speaker 1: met her. When I met her, I went, why haven't
- 1:49Speaker 1: we ever met before? Creator and CEO of she Lean Lifestyle,
- 1:53Speaker 1: Health and Fitness, and author of the highly anticipated release
- 1:56Speaker 1: of a self help book, The Weight is Over The Weight,
- 1:59Speaker 1: which is w e I g h T is over
- 2:03Speaker 1: on Strategic book Publishing and writes agency. The way it's
- 2:06Speaker 1: over is her compelling and painful journey towards self love
- 2:09Speaker 1: and discovery, Aire chronicling her battle with body image, birth
- 2:13Speaker 1: and adalysts and adolescents and care through out her music career.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making conversation Selena Johnson. How you doing,
- 2:24Speaker 1: big timer? I'm doing great? How are you good? Uh?
- 2:29Speaker 1: You know, I always trying to read a book, like
- 2:31Speaker 1: like the day before I talked to someone and because
- 2:34Speaker 1: everything becomes naturally, my conversation and the conversation we are
- 2:39Speaker 1: having today is about you as a person. Who have
- 2:43Speaker 1: you come to grips with your with the whole concept
- 2:46Speaker 1: of weight and who you are? Because that was the
- 2:48Speaker 1: story of the book. Because the book is about the
- 2:51Speaker 1: front part of the book is about your journey that
- 2:53Speaker 1: the back part of the book is about how you
- 2:56Speaker 1: can lose weight and you're motivating people. You have a
- 2:58Speaker 1: little area back in the book where you can pick
- 2:59Speaker 1: noch and all those things. Correct. Yes, but the book
- 3:04Speaker 1: is the book starts where see the whole point of
- 3:08Speaker 1: the book to weight W E I g h T.
- 3:11Speaker 1: It's not just about weight loss. It's about the weight
- 3:15Speaker 1: of the pressure as well as women that we have
- 3:19Speaker 1: to endure on a day to day basis, as far
- 3:22Speaker 1: as being mother's wives. Um, you know, if we're caregivers, sisters, friends,
- 3:27Speaker 1: you know, all of the different um TETs that we
- 3:31Speaker 1: have to have to wear on a day to day basis,
- 3:33Speaker 1: and the pressure with having to be beautiful and flawless
- 3:37Speaker 1: in the face of all of them, which is not
- 3:39Speaker 1: really realistic at the end of the day. So there's
- 3:43Speaker 1: the dilemma there. There poses the dilemma of having to
- 3:46Speaker 1: be perfect in the public eye and societal in society's eye,
- 3:51Speaker 1: when that's not even a chievable. Perfection is just not
- 3:54Speaker 1: a cheapable so um. The book starts off with body
- 3:59Speaker 1: image and how those negative seeds of me growing up
- 4:02Speaker 1: as a young girl were planted and how they festered,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and how it distorted my perception of what I should
- 4:08Speaker 1: look like and who I should you know, who I
- 4:11Speaker 1: should be. But then later, you know, after going through
- 4:15Speaker 1: all the things that I had to go through, which
- 4:17Speaker 1: was really learning all the lessons that I needed to learn,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I was through all of the smoke, the blue smoke
- 4:23Speaker 1: and mirrors and kind of find myself and kind of
- 4:26Speaker 1: find where I'm supposed to be and how I can
- 4:29Speaker 1: use that pressure in my life as a negative as
- 4:32Speaker 1: a positive way, you know. So it's it's that's the
- 4:36Speaker 1: self help, you know, just taking a negative and turning
- 4:39Speaker 1: it into um a triumph. Well, the thing about it
- 4:43Speaker 1: I liked about the book is that and not that.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And I don't devil say I like something, just be
- 4:48Speaker 1: liking it, you know, because I have you on the show,
- 4:50Speaker 1: because it's I'm a fan of you, of yours. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: then also when you had this book, you know, the
- 4:56Speaker 1: thing that caught me off was that it is it's
- 4:58Speaker 1: a motivational book because I think it you have to
- 5:01Speaker 1: share a part of your life for people to understand.
- 5:03Speaker 1: When you're giving advice, it's coming from an honest place.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And that's what you get from this book. It's coming
- 5:08Speaker 1: from an honest place. And the reason I say that
- 5:11Speaker 1: because I'm just talking about disabled complation, which I don't do,
- 5:14Speaker 1: is give away the book. I want you to buy
- 5:15Speaker 1: this book. It's a very good book, and she broke
- 5:17Speaker 1: it down the daughter, the athlete, the artist, the celebrity,
- 5:21Speaker 1: the wife, the mother, the fighter, the woman to conquer
- 5:24Speaker 1: up and each one of these titles define a very
- 5:28Speaker 1: important role in the life, which I think that if
- 5:30Speaker 1: you're a reader, if you're a reader of this book,
- 5:33Speaker 1: you will find yourself in one of these chapters. Am
- 5:36Speaker 1: I correct? Absolutely absolutely, And that was the whole purpose
- 5:42Speaker 1: of breaking it down that way, because there are different
- 5:45Speaker 1: stages that we have in life and we're not one dimensional.
- 5:48Speaker 1: People are not one dimensional. You know, there are places,
- 5:50Speaker 1: there are lots, there are a lot of different fascists
- 5:52Speaker 1: to to us as human beings, and I think that
- 5:56Speaker 1: we need to to point out the fact that we
- 5:59Speaker 1: have to operate from different statists of who we are
- 6:01Speaker 1: at all right, sometimes at the same time, and that
- 6:05Speaker 1: can be very stressful. And I think that one of
- 6:08Speaker 1: the ways to kind of sit through that is to
- 6:11Speaker 1: buy is to be, is to be able to identify
- 6:14Speaker 1: what those different characteristics are about. You know, the interesting thing,
- 6:19Speaker 1: interesting thing about your book, this is the thing about
- 6:22Speaker 1: your book, is that you know, the number one thing
- 6:24Speaker 1: is said, don't ever ask a woman her weight, Okay,
- 6:29Speaker 1: and you have no problems that you know in your book.
- 6:32Speaker 1: You know, you talk about weight at different important moments
- 6:36Speaker 1: in your life. Now, why is that important? And because
- 6:43Speaker 1: because I know why, but I just went from a
- 6:45Speaker 1: listeners standpoint, from a potential readers standpoint, Why did you
- 6:49Speaker 1: expose yourself like that in this book? Well, because I'm
- 6:54Speaker 1: not ashamed of who I am or afraid of who
- 6:56Speaker 1: I am. And being that I have a bachelor's degree
- 6:58Speaker 1: in nutrition science, I understand the difference between being my body,
- 7:03Speaker 1: body weight, the scale, the measuring case. All of that
- 7:07Speaker 1: is tromantic. It's really about how you feel and your
- 7:12Speaker 1: hip to waste ratio that's gonna determine your health. Your waistline,
- 7:16Speaker 1: how big is your waistline? And I know with black women,
- 7:19Speaker 1: most of us are shaped while our waistlines are smaller
- 7:22Speaker 1: than our hips. And if you just if you determine
- 7:25Speaker 1: um your body size and type based on weight, which
- 7:28Speaker 1: can actually you can easily be a hundred and fifty
- 7:30Speaker 1: five pounds and being tip top shape at plast four.
- 7:34Speaker 1: But according to societal standards, that's overweight. So I have
- 7:38Speaker 1: no problem, you know, talking about how much I weigh
- 7:41Speaker 1: because it's good for my size. I know that my
- 7:43Speaker 1: height and weight are good, you know. And I'm very
- 7:46Speaker 1: very healthy. I can outrun most I work out five
- 7:50Speaker 1: six days a week, and I eat right. So I
- 7:52Speaker 1: know that I'm healthy. I'm not ashamed of my body,
- 7:55Speaker 1: and that's something that I had to come into because
- 7:58Speaker 1: that wasn't always the case. I wasn't always the case.
- 8:01Speaker 1: So I had to learn that, you know, we all
- 8:04Speaker 1: come in different shapes and sizes, and just because you're
- 8:08Speaker 1: very thin doesn't mean that you're healthy. And so my
- 8:10Speaker 1: goal is to be healthy and happy and so whatever
- 8:14Speaker 1: that is and whatever that looks like, and you definitely
- 8:18Speaker 1: have found it in this book and the book I'm
- 8:20Speaker 1: talking about. The weight is over Weight is spelled w
- 8:23Speaker 1: E I g h T is over My Journey to
- 8:26Speaker 1: Loving My Body from the outside end and forewords by
- 8:30Speaker 1: my bar Michael Eric Dyson, and we all know he
- 8:33Speaker 1: can talk and he's and something to say. Now, I
- 8:37Speaker 1: got you for another break, but I wanted to talk about,
- 8:40Speaker 1: you know, relationship, the importance of your husband in your
- 8:42Speaker 1: life to support the anchor, you know, and I know
- 8:45Speaker 1: the importance of having an anchor in my life because
- 8:48Speaker 1: of the fact that when things are bad, you really
- 8:50Speaker 1: need somebody you can turn to. Okay, even when these
- 8:53Speaker 1: are good, you need somebody you can turn to and
- 8:55Speaker 1: share it because they've been on that journey, they up
- 8:59Speaker 1: and down journey. Just give us some of some some
- 9:01Speaker 1: great things about your husband, you know on this Thanksgiving
- 9:04Speaker 1: week and Christmas is coming up and high important he's
- 9:07Speaker 1: play a role he's played in your life. Well, first
- 9:10Speaker 1: of all, is my very best friend and I'm extremely
- 9:15Speaker 1: blessed to have him in my life. Without him. First
- 9:18Speaker 1: of all, without him, I would not have my two
- 9:20Speaker 1: beautiful friends. So that's first of all. Um. Second of all,
- 9:24Speaker 1: Key One taught me how to really love myself. I
- 9:27Speaker 1: think that he was the key component because he showed
- 9:30Speaker 1: me what that love looked like on the outside hence
- 9:34Speaker 1: the outside looking in, loving yourself from the outside in.
- 9:37Speaker 1: But he showed me how to love myself from the outside.
- 9:40Speaker 1: He loved me no matter what, no matter what size.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You know, I'm pregnant. I'm two hundred and sixty pounds pregnant,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, how am I gonna lose all this weight?
- 9:48Speaker 1: He doesn't care. He's still loving me regardless. He's still
- 9:52Speaker 1: loving me. What there's no makeup when my hair in calm,
- 9:55Speaker 1: all of that. So if a person can love you
- 9:57Speaker 1: unconditionally like that, how is it that you can't love yourself?
- 10:02Speaker 1: Somebody that's outside of your body that can love you.
- 10:06Speaker 1: That's not with seven. Trust me, they're not with seven.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You're with seven. Your voice is the first voice to
- 10:13Speaker 1: hear every day, and you don't love yourself. That's right. Well,
- 10:17Speaker 1: she's on my show. Ms. Johnson. We'll be right back
- 10:20Speaker 1: with more. The way is over. Um met this young
- 10:23Speaker 1: lady and I served her great dessert. We're talking about
- 10:26Speaker 1: when we come back, but money making conversations. Your show
- 10:30Speaker 1: keep winning everybody because I provide information you can use.
- 10:35Speaker 1: The young lady I have on the phone has been
- 10:37Speaker 1: impressing me for years. She's the co host of TV
- 10:39Speaker 1: one Sister Circle Live, creator and CEO of she Lean Lifestyle,
- 10:44Speaker 1: Health and Fitness, and author the highly anticipated book that
- 10:47Speaker 1: we have been talking about, The Weight is over Weight
- 10:50Speaker 1: being w E I G H t UM people. I
- 10:53Speaker 1: want to in this interview, Uh, of course, I want
- 10:55Speaker 1: to shift to your che lean lifestyle that you created
- 10:59Speaker 1: with your best and who you met in Italy. Correct?
- 11:08Speaker 1: You know you know her man was playing basketball. Ms. Johnson.
- 11:15Speaker 1: She had some kids and she has some kids and
- 11:17Speaker 1: gets with and the like buying the only two people,
- 11:20Speaker 1: the only two Americans on the Callion basketball team and
- 11:23Speaker 1: guess what they naturally born. Theyre both for African American
- 11:26Speaker 1: and they started this company. She is part of her
- 11:29Speaker 1: aimy Sheena correct and then then Lean is for part
- 11:36Speaker 1: of her name. So they put the name together. Bam,
- 11:38Speaker 1: they got a company. I gotta I gotta do that
- 11:43Speaker 1: once in a while, Miss Johnson, let people know I
- 11:44Speaker 1: read their book, because you know, people to do these days,
- 11:47Speaker 1: they just be talking off the side of their miles
- 11:49Speaker 1: and doing. You are doing some things in that book
- 11:53Speaker 1: that that were important to me. It was so funny
- 11:55Speaker 1: in the end when she talked about the actual diet portions,
- 11:58Speaker 1: recommending things that you should eat the regular basis because
- 12:01Speaker 1: all my friends know I eat crazy. They know I eat.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I eat my dessert. You go to even go out
- 12:07Speaker 1: to dinner with me, are gonna lunch with me? I
- 12:08Speaker 1: would order dessert before my meal. I'm just gonna let
- 12:11Speaker 1: you know, so don't look at me shop okay, And
- 12:13Speaker 1: I would eat not just a little bit of dessert.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I would eat a real dessert in front of you,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and then follow that up with you know five guys.
- 12:20Speaker 1: You know five. I followed up with five guys right
- 12:22Speaker 1: in front. You go, okay, how big is this dude,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and how's he pulling us off? Because I follow some
- 12:26Speaker 1: of the things she recommends. She talks about nuts, she
- 12:30Speaker 1: talked about fruit. You know, all these things is what
- 12:33Speaker 1: I do on a regular basis when because I would
- 12:37Speaker 1: tell you something. Your diet, your by the way it
- 12:39Speaker 1: goes up and down. It's how you, especially seasonal goes
- 12:42Speaker 1: up and down. But what is your plan when it
- 12:44Speaker 1: gets out of hand? That's what her book tells you.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Her book has a plan the way it's over. Now
- 12:51Speaker 1: all these tell everybody about that, and then we're gonna
- 12:53Speaker 1: get into your your health and Fitness company. Tell everybody
- 12:57Speaker 1: and putting this book together, it was an emotional journey.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Then in the end you start telling people about how
- 13:03Speaker 1: to take care of themselves, what to eat, some some
- 13:06Speaker 1: some some things, some some menus. How did that come about? Well,
- 13:10Speaker 1: at the end of the book, what you The first
- 13:13Speaker 1: thing that you're going to get is a twenty one
- 13:15Speaker 1: day journal. And the twenty one day journal is led
- 13:20Speaker 1: by an online twenty one day challenge that you can
- 13:23Speaker 1: go to on my website www. Dot Chaling life dot
- 13:27Speaker 1: com and basically twenty it takes twenty one days. The
- 13:30Speaker 1: philosophy behind it is that it takes two one days
- 13:33Speaker 1: to break a heaven and so if you take it,
- 13:36Speaker 1: there's no way, you know, not no way. But one
- 13:38Speaker 1: of the reasons why people start and stop diet is
- 13:42Speaker 1: because they were never ready to start in the first place.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And we always say, oh, I'm gonna start on Monday,
- 13:48Speaker 1: you know, but we didn't do any preparation up until
- 13:50Speaker 1: that time. So the twenty one day challenge is doing
- 13:56Speaker 1: taking twenty one days to take the necessary steps to
- 13:59Speaker 1: get you prepared aired to go into a different lifestyle,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and not even a diet, but to change your life.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Is twenty one days of a directive to start to
- 14:09Speaker 1: begin a life change. And then after that I give
- 14:13Speaker 1: you different tips. And the reason why I don't go
- 14:15Speaker 1: into deep nutrition like who eat this and eat that?
- 14:18Speaker 1: I keep it very general because I believe that everyone's
- 14:21Speaker 1: body is different and that actually you need to see
- 14:24Speaker 1: a dietitian or or a registered dietitian or nutritionists. They
- 14:28Speaker 1: set aside nutritionists and get an actual nutrition plan that
- 14:31Speaker 1: is specific to your body type and your body. We're
- 14:36Speaker 1: not the same, we don't live the same lives, we
- 14:38Speaker 1: don't have the same schedules. So Obviously, one diet fits
- 14:42Speaker 1: all is just not it's just not realistic. But I
- 14:47Speaker 1: get tips that are general right. Because I went to
- 14:50Speaker 1: page one five because I wanted everybody to know on
- 14:52Speaker 1: this page my favorite healthy snacks in it. She has
- 14:56Speaker 1: a green I love green dollars, green love, then cellar
- 15:01Speaker 1: and hummus. I make white being white being on hummus.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I make that personally. So I love that. Today this morning,
- 15:09Speaker 1: I have fruit. I told you about grapes. Grapes to
- 15:12Speaker 1: qualify as the fruit. Correct, Okay, I had alone the
- 15:15Speaker 1: nuts and cash shows have my little cash shoes nuts,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and then I had ball eggs. I had one ball egg.
- 15:21Speaker 1: So I'm not I'm just letting you know that I
- 15:25Speaker 1: swear by this because that allows me to be able
- 15:28Speaker 1: to stabilize my my my my weight, bring it down
- 15:33Speaker 1: when I'm crazy. When I'm out there, I was looking
- 15:35Speaker 1: at looking at Crispy Crean because the red light on
- 15:37Speaker 1: because I won't stop now, I will stop see this
- 15:40Speaker 1: this look this book. On page one thirty five, she
- 15:43Speaker 1: just she just verified me I'm doing something right because
- 15:45Speaker 1: people always say, how why did you get a turning
- 15:48Speaker 1: one thirty five? She just let me know my favorite
- 15:51Speaker 1: healthy snacks. Me and miss Johnson got it going on.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And then I'm saying the next page, drink a lot
- 15:59Speaker 1: of water. If anybody goes to the restaurant on me.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I've had waiters and waitress to come with me. Go
- 16:04Speaker 1: excuse me, sir. We're just gonna bring a picture to
- 16:07Speaker 1: your tape. Picture not don't be offended by that, but
- 16:11Speaker 1: you're doing you drink on the extremely large amount of water.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I just love cold water. I love cold water. Now
- 16:18Speaker 1: now when I'm gaining weight, I drink that lemonade like that.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I might were just I'm just gaining weight because it
- 16:25Speaker 1: gets with that sugar going right into my blood system.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So I'm telling you that's another great thing that she
- 16:29Speaker 1: has in that Now. Stretching, My wife always tells me, Rashan,
- 16:34Speaker 1: you need to stretch. I keep looking at her. She
- 16:39Speaker 1: just stretching left and right now. I'm telling this in
- 16:42Speaker 1: the book, Rashaw, don't do it. But my back tweaks
- 16:46Speaker 1: out sometimes because I don't stress. Stretch. Take up from yoga.
- 16:51Speaker 1: That's why you know yoga is number one for me.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I love this book. I love it because she has
- 16:59Speaker 1: photos of herself as a child. She photos of herself
- 17:02Speaker 1: of working out. She just photos of herself where she failed,
- 17:05Speaker 1: just to verify that you know she gave it all.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But more importantly, let's talk about the companies you have
- 17:11Speaker 1: and UH and I hopeful, I hope to keep this
- 17:12Speaker 1: relationship going. I want to want you to send me
- 17:14Speaker 1: some banners so I can post your company so and
- 17:17Speaker 1: get some traffic going that way. And and also when
- 17:19Speaker 1: your album comes out, want you to come and talk
- 17:22Speaker 1: about your album because you're a special challeng I do
- 17:24Speaker 1: watch your show on TV. You know you have your brain.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You have your brain, you sit over, you have an opinion,
- 17:29Speaker 1: and I can see why you have an opinion because
