- 1:39Speaker 1: Welcome to money Making Conversation. I'm your host, As Stephen
- 1:42Speaker 1: Agan says so eloquently, Rashan McDonald Money Making Conversations now
- 1:46Speaker 1: broadcasting live from Atlanta, Georgia. Appearing on the show today
- 1:50Speaker 1: is my one of my favorites. R and B singer
- 1:52Speaker 1: Anthony Hamilton's the Dynamic husband and wife duo David and
- 1:56Speaker 1: Tamila Man, super Phone creator my Man Ryan Leslie, and
- 2:01Speaker 1: the nfl P A director of communications called Francis, and
- 2:05Speaker 1: he's sitting right next to me, so you know we're
- 2:08Speaker 1: about to start talking to me. So let me get
- 2:09Speaker 1: this right. And I really want to talk about relationships
- 2:12Speaker 1: in this show today. The reason need to sit next
- 2:14Speaker 1: to me. It's a relationship I started when I was
- 2:17Speaker 1: managing Steve Harvey at the time, and we're doing a
- 2:19Speaker 1: project together on family feud and it really is about
- 2:22Speaker 1: relationship that extend your your length, your your career, your opportunities,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and you have to understand that has value. So my
- 2:29Speaker 1: next guest is the director of Communication for the National
- 2:32Speaker 1: Football League Players Association. Nfl p A is the exclusive
- 2:36Speaker 1: bargaining agent for all NFL uh players and they protect
- 2:40Speaker 1: to preserve the rights of these NFL players, health and safety,
- 2:43Speaker 1: welfare and their working conditions. Please work with the money
- 2:46Speaker 1: making conversations. Call Francis, thank you for having me, my friend.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Let me just get this one thing out there. Really
- 2:54Speaker 1: is pretty pretty pretty huge. I think call you a
- 2:57Speaker 1: the spokesman for the NFL Players Associate, Yes, print, television, radio,
- 3:03Speaker 1: digital and all sports related media. Correct, correct, correct, Okay,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you say they kind of called. I mean, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 1: I've been there for some time, so I try. I
- 3:12Speaker 1: gotta go with managing and there, but it sounds like
- 3:15Speaker 1: a lot and it is a lot. Look, so don't
- 3:16Speaker 1: don't don't don't say it sounds like a lot. This
- 3:18Speaker 1: is the number one television sport. Okay, it changes the
- 3:24Speaker 1: dynamics of a network that's broadcast. Facebook is expanding to Europe.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It plays a game annually every day every year in London,
- 3:33Speaker 1: like several games now and so so. So I can't
- 3:37Speaker 1: let you say. So you have an international brand that
- 3:39Speaker 1: you for the Players Association, you're the spokesman walkers through
- 3:44Speaker 1: that process. No, it's a real simple process because the
- 3:47Speaker 1: game is the game. But one of the things that
- 3:50Speaker 1: we focus on is just detecting the rights on wayes
- 3:52Speaker 1: of our membership. You know, tem percent of what you
- 3:56Speaker 1: see is what a player experiences on Sunday, right, and
- 3:59Speaker 1: that's the temple, the set that we want to focus
- 4:01Speaker 1: on because we want the fans to love the sport.
- 4:04Speaker 1: But when the players come off the field, that's when
- 4:07Speaker 1: we're going to impact because players are people. Try to
- 4:12Speaker 1: sometimes uh separate players just from human to but they're
- 4:17Speaker 1: really a neighbor, right, They're really your brother, there, your
- 4:21Speaker 1: your cousin, church friends. There are people that are in
- 4:24Speaker 1: society and they have issues just like everybody else, and
- 4:28Speaker 1: so we try to be there to support them, provide
- 4:30Speaker 1: resources to them to help them actually make the transition
- 4:34Speaker 1: from the field into normal society. And that's the goal
- 4:38Speaker 1: and objective every day. But also protect their rights while
- 4:41Speaker 1: they are an employed in National Football League. And that's
- 4:43Speaker 1: really key because we know we have a sharp window,
- 4:46Speaker 1: absolutely short window, so and they're no guarantees. You can
- 4:49Speaker 1: sign a long term contract a portion of its guarantee.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's why our athletes want such a high signing bonus
- 4:55Speaker 1: so they can feel like they they've got the value
- 4:57Speaker 1: of their contract. And so when you look at US sport,
- 5:00Speaker 1: that's so short term. There's a certain level of responsibility
- 5:04Speaker 1: and sometimes you can't live up to that responsibility as
- 5:08Speaker 1: the players association. So what what what what's that balance there? Well,
- 5:12Speaker 1: the balance is now you're starting to see full term
- 5:15Speaker 1: UH contracts are being guaranteed. The look at Kirk Cousins,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you look at your your your own quarterback here Matt
- 5:23Speaker 1: Ryan designed for one hundred and fifty million, you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: thirty a year. I mean, so guys are making money.
- 5:29Speaker 1: But the key to all of this is is managing
- 5:32Speaker 1: what you have, whether it's guaranteed, whether it's one third guaranteed,
- 5:37Speaker 1: what's full guaranteed. The important thing for us is to
- 5:40Speaker 1: have programs in place to help players understand. As you
- 5:44Speaker 1: mentioned the short term money that you make, we wanted
- 5:47Speaker 1: to make it a long term process for you and
- 5:51Speaker 1: your family and you in your in the generation behind you.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And so that's the key objective for us, because at
- 5:57Speaker 1: the end of the day, everyone is not going to
- 5:59Speaker 1: make as much money as probably the next person in
- 6:02Speaker 1: the locker room, but we can teach you how to
- 6:05Speaker 1: keep that money and preserve it for a long term goal. Okay,
- 6:08Speaker 1: here's the key. I get a lot of athletes, football players,
- 6:12Speaker 1: So that tells me that this shows about entrepreneurship absolutely,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and so I feel now there's a smarter football players
- 6:18Speaker 1: because in the what's gonna be real back in the day, nightclubs,
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, car washers, a lot of stuff. They would
- 6:25Speaker 1: just open it up. They had no planning, but hype
- 6:28Speaker 1: drove the investment and not the planning. The business plan
- 6:32Speaker 1: wasn't part of that process, and and and so so
- 6:35Speaker 1: so when I look at that, what and social media
- 6:38Speaker 1: is really is a power broker in the game of
- 6:42Speaker 1: the NFL. So you're balancing all these things. What is
- 6:45Speaker 1: being set up at the organization NFL p A that
- 6:48Speaker 1: enables these players to be educated to understand the business,
- 6:52Speaker 1: the nuances of social media, the nuances of their brand,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and the power while they play and building this so
- 6:59Speaker 1: it it helps after they finished play. We have we
- 7:02Speaker 1: have a number of extended programs relationship with the group
- 7:04Speaker 1: called Financial Finess that's there to support players and give
- 7:08Speaker 1: them a basic struct and then here's the deal. We're
- 7:10Speaker 1: not when the player signs his contract. It's not objective
- 7:13Speaker 1: to say, hey, go invest in this and go invest
- 7:14Speaker 1: in this right because here's the thing you gott understand
- 7:16Speaker 1: in professional football and a lot of sports that's first
- 7:20Speaker 1: time generational wealth. Absolutely Abso this is not assion. This
- 7:25Speaker 1: isn't a discussion that's held in high school or elementary
- 7:28Speaker 1: school at the kitchen table of you know, what's the
- 7:31Speaker 1: what's the five or one C three or or what's
- 7:33Speaker 1: a banking statement? Like these things doesn't exist. Now you
- 7:37Speaker 1: drop a lot of money on a young man that's
- 7:40Speaker 1: two years old and say hey, manage your money, it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: very intimidating and so for us, we try to put
- 7:46Speaker 1: them in a place to start them at a very
- 7:49Speaker 1: simple place in terms of just the saving as account,
- 7:51Speaker 1: just saving. If you don't know what to do, just
- 7:54Speaker 1: put it in the bank and don't do anything until
- 7:57Speaker 1: you figure out what to do with it. And that's
- 8:00Speaker 1: really what it what it what the problem is when
- 8:02Speaker 1: you talk about quick money, that's quick because it comes
- 8:06Speaker 1: to you playing. And then it also doesn't come to
- 8:08Speaker 1: you year round, right, and so that means that as
- 8:11Speaker 1: a writer on TV shows, I used to work from
- 8:14Speaker 1: from June to February. Between February and May, there was
- 8:18Speaker 1: no check, so I had to learn to balance, Okay,
- 8:21Speaker 1: what's happening in that little down period. So I had
- 8:23Speaker 1: learned to shift by money so I can understand how
- 8:26Speaker 1: to live and not just live like a king and
- 8:29Speaker 1: then live like a pauper. But I had no money.
- 8:32Speaker 1: But I also want to talk about some of your
- 8:34Speaker 1: community involvement. You know, I'm going up to Hampton this
- 8:37Speaker 1: weekend for for an event and Hampton Road. You do
- 8:41Speaker 1: a lot of work with these people you're working with,
- 8:44Speaker 1: and if all NFL pro bowler Michael Vick from that
- 8:47Speaker 1: area and uhh, former Super Bowl quarterback and current coach
- 8:51Speaker 1: come and coach UH and UH Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlins.
- 8:54Speaker 1: What do you guys doing in that as far as community?
- 8:56Speaker 1: You know, this is on your this is on your dam.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. A friend of mine name of Vernon lee Um.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You know, twenty two years ago you said we wanted
- 9:05Speaker 1: to You know, I've never had a chance to enact
- 9:07Speaker 1: put in the professional athletes when I was young coming
- 9:10Speaker 1: up in the Hampton Rose area, and you know, my
- 9:12Speaker 1: heroes were your large tailors, Ron Springs, Bruce Smith's, I mean,
- 9:18Speaker 1: Kenny easily. I mean, you can go on and on, right,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but I never charged that a. So when I got
- 9:23Speaker 1: to the NFL pre I was like, you know what,
- 9:24Speaker 1: let me let me do this, and I'm gonna tell
- 9:26Speaker 1: you something. We've been hosting a football camp, free football camp,
- 9:30Speaker 1: uh for twenty two years. Never charged the kid because
- 9:32Speaker 1: I don't think a kid just needs to pay. Now,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying anything wrong with paying. Absolutely, That's what
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm saying is it's just in my heart. It was
- 9:40Speaker 1: my campaign because I wanted to change the heart to
- 9:42Speaker 1: say football maybe the catalyst, but I want what we're
- 9:46Speaker 1: telling you afterwards to be the driving goal for you
- 9:50Speaker 1: and being a productive citizen. And it has grown as
- 9:52Speaker 1: being something unbelievable. I mean even or Mike Tomlin. When
- 9:55Speaker 1: I first met mcdomlin, he was an assistant defensive backs
- 9:58Speaker 1: coach of Tampa Bay Buccaniers. He knows that. I mean
- 10:00Speaker 1: we met at the Combine and I say, listen, I'm
- 10:03Speaker 1: doing a free football camp. You're from Newport News, I'm
- 10:06Speaker 1: from Hampton. Oh yeah, I know. You want to with
- 10:08Speaker 1: your brother and all of the stuff. And next thing
- 10:10Speaker 1: you know, you know, twenty two years Super Bowl he
- 10:13Speaker 1: was a defensive coordinator for a Minnesota Vikings, the Super
- 10:16Speaker 1: Bowl champion, and now he's a regular. We have our
- 10:18Speaker 1: own tailgate event where the fans come in. We've had
- 10:21Speaker 1: a mentorship program. We've impacted over ten thousand kids, given
- 10:24Speaker 1: out over eight thousand dollars worth of scholarships. I mean,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you just impact people. And Michael Vick, Ronald Kerr's so
- 10:31Speaker 1: many players that have come through that I can't even
- 10:34Speaker 1: draw Mayo. It's just so many. So what happens to
- 10:36Speaker 1: a city where did he get the super Bowl? And
- 10:38Speaker 1: the super Bowl? You know what's scary about the Atlanta
- 10:42Speaker 1: and Atlanta doesn't scared. Trust me. The last time I
- 10:45Speaker 1: was here, you know, uh it was St. Louis and uh, Tennessee,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and that was my first time here for the Super Bowl.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And man, I'll tell you what you guys. You guys
- 10:56Speaker 1: just locked up the city. I mean the city was
- 10:58Speaker 1: just locked. I mean Wednesday through Sunday. I mean, every
- 11:02Speaker 1: and anybody was here in the city was a lot. Now,
- 11:07Speaker 1: I can't help you out traffic, Wyse, so don't ask
- 11:10Speaker 1: We can't here by yourself out now, don't ask me
- 11:12Speaker 1: about traffic. I don't know how you get around, but
- 11:15Speaker 1: figure it out. But I'll tell you what. The city
- 11:17Speaker 1: is electric. And one thing that's really making it exciting
- 11:21Speaker 1: is that unbelievable spaceship you guys called the Mercedes being Stadium.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely, facility is unbelievable. It's like it's like a spaceship.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Not now. I went to Dallas and I saw the
- 11:35Speaker 1: Jerry Jim the Dallars Stadium. Unbelievable, beautiful, I mean, the
- 11:40Speaker 1: the big Jumbo trying to talk. But you guys, I
- 11:44Speaker 1: mean it's like the Jetsons over with Mercedes Stadium and
- 11:47Speaker 1: it's it's it's unbelievable. It's crazy because there's so much
- 11:50Speaker 1: going on over there. They have trouble getting the fans
- 11:53Speaker 1: to go to the seats, you know exactly the problems
- 11:56Speaker 1: with being there for kick off. They have their party,
- 11:59Speaker 1: didn't they had? That's all that getting hot dogs and
- 12:03Speaker 1: just hanging out. That it's a social outside of it.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And that's what really has happened to so many events
- 12:10Speaker 1: that the stadium being built. Even know, we got Battery
- 12:13Speaker 1: Park where the Atlanta Braise you go, They've got ten
- 12:15Speaker 1: thousand restaurants and it's an experience, and Mercedes Binds is
- 12:19Speaker 1: an experience. The game, uh is part of the process.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You know, their lord, the lord to get you know,
- 12:26Speaker 1: seventy thousand people over there one time, you're giving them
- 12:29Speaker 1: an experience. And so the super Bowl is the ultimate experience.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You're bringing it back to Atlanta. You're bringing all of
- 12:34Speaker 1: this capital when that's a capital and common revenue generator
- 12:38Speaker 1: and these things, and then you just this is known
- 12:41Speaker 1: to another city. That's what you do for the players,
- 12:44Speaker 1: That's what you're trying to set up for future opportunities.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That's your role. Well, I think it's key for us.
- 12:50Speaker 1: You know, it's funny you mentioned that for players, like
- 12:52Speaker 1: when we come to a city meeting in the the NFL,
- 12:54Speaker 1: and what the NFL p A does is connect with
- 12:57Speaker 1: the major corporations in the area and we tell players
- 13:00Speaker 1: on tours of the facility. Like last year in Minnesota,
- 13:05Speaker 1: we took players to Target to meet the CEO, to
- 13:09Speaker 1: sit down and talk about next next steps in your life,
- 13:13Speaker 1: and we took them on a journey and next customer
- 13:15Speaker 1: service experience to understand that. I'm sure our marketing team
- 13:19Speaker 1: with players inc our marketing arm Uh. We'll do that
- 13:23Speaker 1: in Atlanta with several companies. So it's not just come
- 13:27Speaker 1: have a good time and enjoy yourself, which but it's
- 13:31Speaker 1: the entrepreneurship side too. It's that transition that we take
- 13:34Speaker 1: a group of players and we were in San Francisco,
- 13:37Speaker 1: we did a tech conference when we went into Facebook
- 13:41Speaker 1: Silicon and we met with all these different tech companies
- 13:44Speaker 1: are Google and in other places to talk about the
- 13:48Speaker 1: next wave of technology, how you can become involved and
- 13:52Speaker 1: how you can create an opportunity for yourself beyond football.
- 13:57Speaker 1: So that will happen in Atlanta to which is key
- 14:00Speaker 1: for the development and which I want people to understand
- 14:02Speaker 1: about us, meaning the NFL but more portant the NFL
- 14:05Speaker 1: players associtions what we do five members, so that's key
- 14:08Speaker 1: for us. Well, the thing that I want to make
- 14:11Speaker 1: sure I address here is that your skill, you you, you,
- 14:16Speaker 1: your ability to be the spokesperson for the NFL, and
- 14:20Speaker 1: all these layers with your over twenty five years of
- 14:23Speaker 1: experience member of MAGA Side five, your fraternity to the
- 14:26Speaker 1: day you die. Your ability to be able to have
- 14:29Speaker 1: relationships outside of football, inside of the football, understanding the
- 14:32Speaker 1: market and longevity, and more importantly now working on the
- 14:36Speaker 1: mental side of the NFL player. The concussions that mental health,
- 14:41Speaker 1: bipolar issues. They're big. And I want to thank you
- 14:43Speaker 1: for coming to my show again your home. Thank you
- 14:48Speaker 1: for dropping by while you're in town. You know Bowl comes,
- 14:51Speaker 1: so at least see at least two more times. May look,
- 14:54Speaker 1: I may even do you have been playing to stay over.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I may even stay over, but I know the hotels
- 14:58Speaker 1: are sold out. All yeah, we were wrapt more and
- 15:00Speaker 1: more money making conversation, Thank you, thank you. We'll be
- 15:05Speaker 1: right back with more from ms McDonald and money Making
- 15:07Speaker 1: Conversations don't touch that dot. As host of Money Making Conversations,

- 15:29Speaker 1: the universe doesn't have to deal with. Money Making Conversations
- 15:32Speaker 1: is an innovative platform that delivers financial literacy to help

- 16:30Speaker 1: Harvard graduate. I'm a graduate of Universe Houston. At least
- 16:32Speaker 1: I have the h he has Harvard. I have Houston.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Please work with the money making conversation, Ryan Leslie, How
- 16:39Speaker 1: are you doing, Ryan? I'm doing great. I am doing great.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It's beautiful weather in New York City wherever you're listening from.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I hope you're we're motivated read a way to give

- 16:59Speaker 1: glad tuning them, and I appreciate the opportunity to beat
- 17:02Speaker 1: your show. Thank you well. The great thing about it
- 17:04Speaker 1: is that, um, you know, like I said, I love
- 17:07Speaker 1: the fact that you're saying that, Hey man, it's time
- 17:09Speaker 1: for the minority to be represented and have leadership in
- 17:13Speaker 1: the technol in the tech world, and why are we
- 17:16Speaker 1: failing there? Right? I gotta ask you that before we
- 17:18Speaker 1: get into the super phone talk and all that. Why
- 17:20Speaker 1: are we failing in the tech world and why are
- 17:22Speaker 1: we not being giving credit for participating in the tech world. Well,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I think it's systemic. I think I think I think
- 17:31Speaker 1: where technology starts, it starts with uh, it starts with
- 17:37Speaker 1: the dream and the ideation that comes from just knowing
- 17:42Speaker 1: that you can take an idea and without you know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: one of my good friends of Paul Judge from from Atlanta,
- 17:49Speaker 1: and he's had he's had a couple of very successful
- 17:52Speaker 1: technology exits, and one of the one of the greatest
- 17:56Speaker 1: lessons that I've learned from him is that equal off
- 18:00Speaker 1: tunity really is technology. So without land, without water, without steel,
- 18:06Speaker 1: without brick and mortar, you can actually build services through
- 18:11Speaker 1: technology that can create immense value. And so even for me,
- 18:17Speaker 1: it you know, I'm coming from Harvard, I didn't actually
- 18:21Speaker 1: have to have the ability to take a computer science class,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and nor did I have the mentors growing up that
- 18:27Speaker 1: really impressed upon me the incredible opportunity that technology would
- 18:34Speaker 1: empower me with in my later years. And so I
- 18:38Speaker 1: think it's important now. The reason why I'm actually doing
- 18:40Speaker 1: this podcast right now is just to let folks know
- 18:42Speaker 1: that there is a digital age that is already upon us.
- 18:46Speaker 1: There's an information age that's upon us, and in order
- 18:50Speaker 1: for us to flourish in this age, we need to
- 18:52Speaker 1: be prepared and we need to build a dream, the
- 18:56Speaker 1: impossible dreams because none of us know what a year
- 19:00Speaker 1: from now is going to look like, which means we
- 19:02Speaker 1: have the ability to build it. One of the one
- 19:04Speaker 1: of my favorite sayings, is that the best way to
- 19:08Speaker 1: predict the future is to invent it. And so that's
- 19:10Speaker 1: what we're doing that superphone. You're inventing what we believe
- 19:13Speaker 1: the future should look like. And we are doing this
- 19:17Speaker 1: based on the concept that without buildings, without without locomotives
- 19:23Speaker 1: and steel and railroads and all of the all of
- 19:27Speaker 1: the materials that were necessary to build value in the
- 19:32Speaker 1: industrial age, the information age is really just about creating
- 19:38Speaker 1: the most efficient way to exchange information. And we believe
- 19:42Speaker 1: that superphone, that success happened at the speed of communication,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and so there's so much information available to us. It's
- 19:47Speaker 1: about communicating information as efficiently as possible. And so I
- 19:52Speaker 1: believe it starts school, starts in our schools, it starts
- 19:55Speaker 1: in it starting our early childhood education program. And I
- 20:00Speaker 1: also believe in creativity being the the first that planted
- 20:06Speaker 1: in order to make us, to make us, to really
- 20:11Speaker 1: make us the kind of success kind of being technology.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I had a meeting yesterday where someone brought to my
- 20:18Speaker 1: attention or or made the comment that these jobs was
- 20:22Speaker 1: more of an artist than he was a businessman. And
- 20:25Speaker 1: when you look at the immensal excessive Apple as a
- 20:28Speaker 1: technology company, a hardware technology come in software technology company.
- 20:33Speaker 1: The creativity that that the helm means that minorities as
- 20:40Speaker 1: urban music and all the creativity and cultural influence that
- 20:45Speaker 1: we have, when it's harnessed the right way and it's
- 20:47Speaker 1: directed the right way, it means that you know, we
- 20:50Speaker 1: already have the makings of being incredible technologists because being
- 20:55Speaker 1: the prenoledge, this requires great imagination. But that's the imagination
- 21:00Speaker 1: needs to be tied to actual, real tactical skills of
- 21:05Speaker 1: being able to speak the language of computers. And so
- 21:09Speaker 1: that means that you have to wake up in the
- 21:10Speaker 1: same way you would learn another language like French or
- 21:14Speaker 1: any other language, Italian, you need to learn the language
- 21:17Speaker 1: of computers. So the UK two computers exactly what you
- 21:22Speaker 1: would like for them to do, and once you communicated once,
- 21:25Speaker 1: they will do it over and over and over and
- 21:27Speaker 1: over again at scale and be able to serve hundreds
- 21:30Speaker 1: of millions and even in the case of Facebook or
- 21:33Speaker 1: or what's that literally billions of people on the planet.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And so I think for us as a people, we
- 21:38Speaker 1: we just got a dream bigger. We've got a dream
- 21:41Speaker 1: outside of the confines of whatever we believe our current
- 21:44Speaker 1: circumstances are. And when we dream big and we apply
- 21:48Speaker 1: creativity and ingenuity, because the technical skills that we can
- 21:53Speaker 1: learn for free online, we can really start to float
- 21:58Speaker 1: the way we should. Because that's what you did, because
- 22:01Speaker 1: your degree is in government, correct, that's right, And so
- 22:05Speaker 1: but you you you went to Code Academy and you
- 22:08Speaker 1: learned online code and programming, and then that's what you're saying.
- 22:12Speaker 1: That's what you're saying to us. Okay, do allow your
- 22:15Speaker 1: your direction or that where you've been pointed, or your
- 22:17Speaker 1: degree or what people expect of you to stop your ambition.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And so how just wrapping it around, how did you
- 22:25Speaker 1: perceive that that was the right place to go to
- 22:27Speaker 1: to Code Academy to put you in the right direction
- 22:30Speaker 1: for to really deliver all the technology that you're achieving
- 22:34Speaker 1: right now? Correct? Yes, I'm gonna say this in every
- 22:39Speaker 1: in every sense of the word, sir, you always look
- 22:42Speaker 1: for the highest value proposition for the time that you're
- 22:45Speaker 1: gonna put in. So even before technology, when I was
- 22:49Speaker 1: doing music, I did want to research and I said, okay, well,
- 22:53Speaker 1: how much does it cost for me to actually go
- 22:56Speaker 1: get a beat from Jermaine degree? And I think at
- 22:58Speaker 1: that time was the heyday and music industry, you know,
- 23:01Speaker 1: about hundred thousand million dollars. If I looked at my
- 23:05Speaker 1: bank account at the Thiland, you know, hundred thousand, quarter
- 23:08Speaker 1: million dollars to get one beat. I might as well
- 23:10Speaker 1: teach myself how to mean and and and that's and
- 23:15Speaker 1: that's exactly what I did. And that is a resource
- 23:17Speaker 1: that all of us you have, so in the absence
- 23:21Speaker 1: of an end and when we apply time and we
- 23:25Speaker 1: apply time and in in in an intentional way to
- 23:29Speaker 1: achieving processing want to achieve. It's about a either finding
- 23:34Speaker 1: a mentor or a teacher that is going to invest
- 23:38Speaker 1: that time for you, or finding online resources. And at
- 23:42Speaker 1: the time, you know, I didn't have online resources, but
- 23:45Speaker 1: you know I had digital resources and listened to the
- 23:48Speaker 1: domain repeat on TVs and to sit there and do
- 23:51Speaker 1: my best to replicate it. And so the beauty of
- 23:54Speaker 1: the information age is that a kid right now has
- 23:57Speaker 1: more information at their fingertips than Bill Clinton had when
- 24:01Speaker 1: he was the President of the United States and office.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And so it's important for us to actually take the
- 24:07Speaker 1: access that we have that information and leverage it in
- 24:10Speaker 1: our favor. And so that means that whether you have
- 24:14Speaker 1: money or not, there are free resources online that can
- 24:17Speaker 1: teach you how to basically do anythame. You want to
- 24:20Speaker 1: become a photoshop expert, if you want to become an
- 24:23Speaker 1: Adobe Premiere pro expert, if you want to become a
- 24:26Speaker 1: pro toose expert, you want to become a quoting expert,
- 24:29Speaker 1: if you want to become an expert on science, or
- 24:31Speaker 1: an expert on literally any topic. Wikipedia, YouTube and online
- 24:37Speaker 1: resources can give you that education for free, and you
- 24:41Speaker 1: can become an expert even without spending forty or fifty
- 24:44Speaker 1: tho dollars a year for that piece of paper that
- 24:46Speaker 1: gives a certificate that says you're an expert. And what
- 24:50Speaker 1: you do with that knowledge is really us to you
- 24:53Speaker 1: and it's not to you, But it's also about how
- 24:56Speaker 1: you share the knowledge, right you can amount the knowledge
- 24:59Speaker 1: and and all I would say that any new value
- 25:04Speaker 1: that's created in the world is because someone creatively put
- 25:08Speaker 1: their spin on it. And so superphone is you know,
- 25:11Speaker 1: it's superphone and novel concept. And I'm driving to New
- 25:16Speaker 1: York cities. You can hear it. You can hear the
- 25:18Speaker 1: cyber wins in the background. Yeah, sure, superphone is a
- 25:23Speaker 1: novel concept because of the ingenuity and creativity that's being
- 25:28Speaker 1: applied to an existing technoledge, which is right. So I'm
- 25:34Speaker 1: interested in just enabling and empowering and encouraging that next
- 25:39Speaker 1: generation of creatives to be as creative as possible and
- 25:44Speaker 1: look at problems that and challenges that the human race
- 25:48Speaker 1: is going to be facing in the future, and making
- 25:50Speaker 1: sure that you've shock in your mind so that you
- 25:53Speaker 1: can solve for challenges that we don't even know exists yet.
- 25:57Speaker 1: And that's how you're going to really create value for
- 25:59Speaker 1: the world. And when you praise value for the world,
- 26:01Speaker 1: the world turns around them and create value for you.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Now I want to go back for I know I'd
- 26:05Speaker 1: said it earlier. If I don't bring up the fact
- 26:07Speaker 1: that Stevie want to see D that you heard that
- 26:10Speaker 1: friend heard Major Player. What was the Stevie want the
- 26:12Speaker 1: song A C. D. Well, I would say, uh, step
- 26:18Speaker 1: Wonders CD. That really change everything, That really to change
- 26:22Speaker 1: the whole course of my life and career and life
- 26:26Speaker 1: tast what songs in the key of life? Now you
- 26:28Speaker 1: go what song though, What song though? That's a brilliant
- 26:32Speaker 1: that's a brilliant c D. That's a brilliant c D.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Which song? Yeah, really your brilliant body of work. And
- 26:38Speaker 1: this all was loved and need of love today. And
- 26:41Speaker 1: I really believe that, you know, that's what we're doing.
- 26:45Speaker 1: We are we are actually creating the ability for people
- 26:49Speaker 1: that have closer relationships and get to what we all
- 26:53Speaker 1: craving life, which is more love. And if you have
- 26:56Speaker 1: more love around your ideas, if you have more love
- 26:59Speaker 1: around the questions that you are asking to help, that
- 27:02Speaker 1: you are asking for, is so much more powerful to
- 27:05Speaker 1: ask for help from someone that loves you as opposed
- 27:09Speaker 1: to someone that doesn't know you. And you know what,
- 27:11Speaker 1: I think there is a I think there's there. I
- 27:13Speaker 1: believe in the inherent good of humanity. And I believe,
- 27:16Speaker 1: like I said, people feel better helping, even better helping
- 27:20Speaker 1: than being helped. And so the ability for you to
- 27:24Speaker 1: actually find empathy and find real death in your relationships
- 27:29Speaker 1: is just gonna make your life that much more enriched
- 27:31Speaker 1: and better. And that's that's that's the goal. That's that's
- 27:35Speaker 1: the aim of superphone and so and that means that
- 27:37Speaker 1: whether that's that's your customers. Because you want your customers
- 27:41Speaker 1: to feel like you love them, you know, and that's
- 27:42Speaker 1: why you're building a product to help them, uh, to
- 27:45Speaker 1: have better lives. Whether that's your fans, whether that's your
- 27:49Speaker 1: friends and family or your colleagues. I feel like deeper
- 27:52Speaker 1: relationships are really are going to extend your life. And
- 27:55Speaker 1: only will they extended life, they'll make your life that
- 27:58Speaker 1: much more enriched. And so as we go into so,
- 28:02Speaker 1: I want you to think about your iPhone today, and
- 28:04Speaker 1: I want you to think about how much better you're
- 28:06Speaker 1: like to be, like having a better organization and having
- 28:10Speaker 1: a little bit of automation and having intelligence on your
- 28:14Speaker 1: messaging that actually allows for you phone. Yeah, Hey, my man,
- 28:21Speaker 1: we know we're gonna take this show to TV. I've
- 28:23Speaker 1: already been notified. Can you be my first test? Ryan? Absolutely,
- 28:29Speaker 1: you're the best brother man I would be. Anybody has
- 28:35Speaker 1: any other questions for me to talk and cover anything,
- 28:38Speaker 1: Just go to text Ryan dot com and leave your
- 28:40Speaker 1: number and I'll text you right back. Text Ryan, leave
- 28:44Speaker 1: your number, I will text you right back and we
- 28:46Speaker 1: can continue to dialogue on my super phone. Stay strong, Ryan,
- 28:50Speaker 1: Leslie super phone Go to Apple Store you can download
- 28:52Speaker 1: it right now now on the on is my next guest. Uh.
- 29:02Speaker 1: He's one of my favorites musical artists. He's a Grammar
- 29:05Speaker 1: nominated R and B singer who has this deep, deep,
- 29:08Speaker 1: deep soul, full emotional varts. You know him from such
- 29:11Speaker 1: hits as my all time favorite Charlene, Pray for Me,
- 29:16Speaker 1: just the Big Bones and can't let Go Please. Welcome
- 29:19Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversations, my man, Anthony Hamilton's Hello, how
- 29:25Speaker 1: are you anthy long time my friend, long time, Yes, man.
- 29:29Speaker 1: I think we've we've all been, uh on our journey
- 29:32Speaker 1: and it's beautiful man, to see all this happening for you,
- 29:35Speaker 1: and uh, you know, I'm excited to be on the show.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on the show. And it shows
- 29:40Speaker 1: about entrepreneurship right that. I think that's why it's really
- 29:43Speaker 1: regaining such popularity now, Anthony, because this this allows artists,
- 29:48Speaker 1: especially sometimes people just want you to be the artists.
- 29:50Speaker 1: They don't want to hear the story about your entrepreneurship
- 29:53Speaker 1: background and the other layers of your life and charities
- 29:57Speaker 1: and things like that. In the various artists and and
- 29:59Speaker 1: see os and and interested decision makers know they can't
- 30:02Speaker 1: come on money making conversations and didn't get their story
- 30:05Speaker 1: told and they can tell it in a relax format.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And I'm not walking away from your success. But also
- 30:11Speaker 1: you have other layers of success, correct exactly, Yeah, branching out.
- 30:16Speaker 1: You know sometimes people don't expect it when they when
- 30:19Speaker 1: they just know you for one one thing. Um. But
- 30:23Speaker 1: being a business person, I think you always have these
- 30:25Speaker 1: creative ideas that you want to embark on. It. It's
- 30:30Speaker 1: just exciting to be able to do something else but that.
- 30:34Speaker 1: But that's that's that's the cool thing about life today
- 30:36Speaker 1: because of the fact that you know, especially with social media,
- 30:39Speaker 1: because I want to talk about social media and your
- 30:41Speaker 1: brand because you know, you you come into you know,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you just you have one dream that's just be a
- 30:46Speaker 1: music artist and get your songs played on the radio.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Get that to become go, get that become plaid to
- 30:51Speaker 1: sell out arenas. But now you have this other social media,
- 30:54Speaker 1: this this brand relationship that you have with your fans
- 30:58Speaker 1: is not like a fan club. It's like it's immediate.
- 31:01Speaker 1: How does how has that impacted your career? Well you
- 31:04Speaker 1: get the really you know here and and read what
- 31:09Speaker 1: people really think, see it, feel it. Um, people a
- 31:13Speaker 1: post videos that I'm sending their songs or septimonies about
- 31:17Speaker 1: how the music has changed their lives. And you know,
- 31:20Speaker 1: you get to see them at the shows. They we
- 31:22Speaker 1: post the videos of them enjoying your live performances. It's
- 31:28Speaker 1: excited now when you do that. With that being said,
- 31:31Speaker 1: what is the difference today for a musical artist? Because
- 31:34Speaker 1: I get that all the time because they know what
- 31:36Speaker 1: I've done in the business of I'm constantly being approached
- 31:38Speaker 1: by people to manage their careers or give them advice.
- 31:41Speaker 1: And there's so many different layers, so I can I
- 31:44Speaker 1: just know when I started writing on and sitcoms and
- 31:47Speaker 1: three and what you're doing today, when I'm doing today,
- 31:49Speaker 1: it's totally different. So I can assume that if you
- 31:52Speaker 1: were breaking into the musical business today, what is different?
- 31:57Speaker 1: What are the major obstacle? Those are the major opportunities
- 32:01Speaker 1: that the young musical artists listening to this show that
- 32:04Speaker 1: you will give them advice on. Not only can you
- 32:08Speaker 1: be successful that being you know, a musician, songwright or
- 32:12Speaker 1: a producer, but also you can also get into advertisement MHM.
- 32:20Speaker 1: When you have a lot of people following you, people
- 32:25Speaker 1: brands come to you and and they want to They
- 32:28Speaker 1: want to be a part of that it want to
- 32:31Speaker 1: be a part of the movement. They want to be
- 32:32Speaker 1: a part of your fans may so that they can
- 32:35Speaker 1: sell this products. So you become now a different entity. Um.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You know, it's almost like how Oprah Show was like
- 32:43Speaker 1: major right, you know, to get part of that space
- 32:47Speaker 1: and and and that energy and that you know, and
- 32:50Speaker 1: that that exchange there might be a part of that.
- 32:53Speaker 1: You become a different kind of entity now and and
- 32:57Speaker 1: you can sell things outside of the music, could you know,
- 33:00Speaker 1: you can really pretty much set up a store, um,
- 33:05Speaker 1: being an entertainer now and you get a chance to
- 33:09Speaker 1: to share your music with people who were never ever
- 33:12Speaker 1: uh I think twice about you know, then during it
- 33:17Speaker 1: off outside of their own comfort and going to the
- 33:20Speaker 1: you can you can add to the to their world
- 33:24Speaker 1: and vice versa. You know, it's really interesting here when
- 33:28Speaker 1: you say that, because uh, you know my world. You know, entertainment.
- 33:33Speaker 1: You know, bigger part of the entertainment was managing Steve Harvey,
- 33:37Speaker 1: doing TV shows, during the radio, all these different platforms
- 33:39Speaker 1: and and creating relationship. How many favors you've done for
- 33:43Speaker 1: me for the Hoodie Awards or the neighborhood Awards, coming
- 33:46Speaker 1: there and changing people's lives, and they were entrepreneurs. That's
- 33:49Speaker 1: why I always love that format because about people within
- 33:52Speaker 1: the real starts of the community. And then then I
- 33:55Speaker 1: transition to now I'm one of I'm an award winning baker.
- 33:57Speaker 1: So this is what you're saying, that reaching people that
- 34:00Speaker 1: you will never see follow you. It's that, you know,
- 34:03Speaker 1: I'm reaching people in Montana outa who Lord, Alabama, Nevada
- 34:08Speaker 1: because I'm a baker. And when I started seeing you
- 34:11Speaker 1: start putting these pictures out of these photos, these videos
- 34:14Speaker 1: out about you cooking, you know, yeah, you know you.
- 34:18Speaker 1: I me reached out to your manager, Eli, I said, Eli,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I gotta get in touch with Anthony. You want to
- 34:23Speaker 1: all this cooking going on, tell us about that, tell
- 34:25Speaker 1: us about that. You know, I'm a Southern guy, man
- 34:29Speaker 1: from Charlotte, North Carolina, and cooking has always been a
- 34:33Speaker 1: very important part of our culture, and you know, people
- 34:37Speaker 1: and a way to express yourself. And when you didn't
- 34:40Speaker 1: have much, you had a good meal or you had
- 34:42Speaker 1: a meal. Because you're you're from a single mom, you're
- 34:46Speaker 1: read by a single mom. Correct, yeah, yeah, yeah, And
- 34:50Speaker 1: then later on adopted so you know I had I've
- 34:53Speaker 1: had it both of those expenses. But cooking is a
- 34:57Speaker 1: way that I expressed myself and who I am. Um.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I like this. I like different flavors and and and
- 35:04Speaker 1: and and taste, smells, extras and combinations of of of
- 35:13Speaker 1: plate that I can express myself like I might do
- 35:15Speaker 1: curry corn with the with the big key back. He's
- 35:19Speaker 1: showing that. Now I'll infuse my mastered tatoes with with
- 35:27Speaker 1: with the sweet corn pure. Just you know, just different
- 35:30Speaker 1: ways to to be creative. So food has always been
- 35:36Speaker 1: very very uh okay, okay, okay, okay, Anthony, okay, pad
- 35:40Speaker 1: Labella got her cookie show, yes, sir, okay, Now are
- 35:45Speaker 1: we headed in the direction? Because look at him. You know,
- 35:48Speaker 1: you got the social media filing, you got the brand,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you got the name, and see you weren't throwing out
- 35:53Speaker 1: them a little simple you know, he was at least
- 35:54Speaker 1: words and infuge. You know that that's a cook. I
- 35:57Speaker 1: would never use that word. I'm just there to eat.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I just baked. You using those really really you know,
- 36:03Speaker 1: those those those those those those those cool and they
- 36:06Speaker 1: terms you know, in your whole scenario, so so so
- 36:10Speaker 1: so tell us about what's what you're really doing here, Anthony,
- 36:13Speaker 1: and we're gonna be on TV cooking. You know what
- 36:17Speaker 1: the opportunity is is there? I will I will definitely
- 36:23Speaker 1: look into it. I definitely want to put out cookbook,
- 36:28Speaker 1: a different style of cookbook, just drawing on with African
- 36:32Speaker 1: American expressions out of San Francisco, and you know, I
- 36:36Speaker 1: think that will be the platform. They have a large,
- 36:41Speaker 1: a large retail right right there, and uh, my fans,
- 36:47Speaker 1: it fits if it's my brand. So I'll start off
- 36:50Speaker 1: with a cookbook. People interested? Um, you know you start
- 36:55Speaker 1: off with this cookbook? Did get thereybody? Because you know
- 36:57Speaker 1: we're already interested. I was just gonna let you know
- 36:59Speaker 1: that right now because you know my wife she loves fish,
- 37:03Speaker 1: so you you just don't right into her her menu
- 37:06Speaker 1: to see bads, you know what I'm saying. So with
- 37:08Speaker 1: that being said, what what what what would a cookbook
- 37:11Speaker 1: look like coming from Anthony Hamilton? Would they have desserts
- 37:14Speaker 1: in it? Would they have breads? Would it just beyondree
- 37:17Speaker 1: types or derbs or what? Would it be appetizers? It
- 37:22Speaker 1: would not I would be four four meals. Um, that
- 37:25Speaker 1: would be some some parings. Whether it be a good
- 37:28Speaker 1: dessert with a good meal, or a good wine with
- 37:31Speaker 1: a good meal, good kanyac with a good meal, and
- 37:35Speaker 1: good music. So I want to transition a little bit
- 37:37Speaker 1: to you said it earlier. African American expressions that said
- 37:41Speaker 1: greeting cards, calendars, journals explain about that relationship. And when
- 37:45Speaker 1: you said greeting cards, we're talking about you know, Valentine's Day,
- 37:47Speaker 1: called Mother's Day, called Christmas cards. When you say greeting
- 37:51Speaker 1: cards and calendars and journals, tell us how that's all
- 37:54Speaker 1: gonna work out of the Anthony Hamilton's brand absolutely uh
- 37:59Speaker 1: expression as I do through through songs, throughout performing and
- 38:03Speaker 1: and people come to me all the time about my lyrics.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So I was like, you know what, it's already set
- 38:09Speaker 1: up for me to uh to use my words and
- 38:12Speaker 1: my voice. Why not extended through greeting cards for the
- 38:16Speaker 1: beat holidays or just so simple. I appreciate you and
- 38:21Speaker 1: and and love you and uh and and coming from
- 38:24Speaker 1: from me, stop from Hallmark. Right. I expressed, you know,
- 38:31Speaker 1: from my people and to my people in a way
- 38:33Speaker 1: that they wouldn't normally understand. Uh. So I got with
- 38:38Speaker 1: a African American expression, and I felt like it was
- 38:41Speaker 1: a good marriage it's an extra American, Like you said,
- 38:44Speaker 1: it's a it's a conference zone to you because you've
- 38:46Speaker 1: always been an advocate for social change, always a voice
- 38:52Speaker 1: on the front line of you know what I'm saying,
- 38:54Speaker 1: this is not right? And what what drives you in
- 38:58Speaker 1: that direction and make you to be so consistent with
- 39:01Speaker 1: that tone? I think when you see uh, I think
- 39:07Speaker 1: when you see anybody, a group of people, uh, a
- 39:12Speaker 1: race of people mhm being mistreated or you know, look
- 39:18Speaker 1: down upon and uh, and you still it's not right.
- 39:22Speaker 1: You want to have justice, and so much injustice surrounding
- 39:27Speaker 1: how we'll be treated and how we looked at and
- 39:30Speaker 1: our value and and haven't changed after a while. You
- 39:33Speaker 1: just you have to be you have to be drawn
- 39:36Speaker 1: to do you have to be affected by it. And uh,
- 39:39Speaker 1: I thanged. And I'm a father of six boys. I
- 39:42Speaker 1: don't want them brought up in a in the world
- 39:43Speaker 1: with that same ignorant mentality. So why not speak on
- 39:47Speaker 1: it while I have a a platform and a lot
- 39:51Speaker 1: of people with power and with you know, I can
- 39:57Speaker 1: make a change. So when I use my boy and
- 39:59Speaker 1: that's important because I'm a parents and you know, because
- 40:02Speaker 1: you know you when you when you're When you're a parent,
- 40:04Speaker 1: there's so many goals in life. You know, you first
- 40:06Speaker 1: want a healthy child, and then you want to raise
- 40:09Speaker 1: that child to be respectful, and then when they go
- 40:12Speaker 1: to high school, you want them to get through that
- 40:15Speaker 1: process because you know you're as we all have all
- 40:18Speaker 1: personal high school experiences, and when they go to college,
- 40:22Speaker 1: it's kind of like the the the unnerving part. You
- 40:24Speaker 1: want them to walk away and you want to outlive
- 40:26Speaker 1: your kids. That's the goal. You don't want to bury
- 40:29Speaker 1: your kids. You want to outlive there and you don't
- 40:31Speaker 1: want your children to have any negative experiences. And the
- 40:33Speaker 1: fact that you have six boys that carries even bigger
- 40:37Speaker 1: burden because guess what when you look at the local news,
- 40:40Speaker 1: these are the African American young males are the ones
- 40:43Speaker 1: being traumatized by the police. So emotionally, how does that?
- 40:47Speaker 1: How do you deal with that as a as a father?
- 40:49Speaker 1: And what do you tell your your boys when you
- 40:52Speaker 1: see stuff like that happening almost on a weekly basis
- 40:55Speaker 1: in the media. And then there and then there are
- 40:57Speaker 1: quiddles that for us who watched the video years go,
- 41:00Speaker 1: how could that happen? First of all, it pisses me
- 41:04Speaker 1: off and then second, you know, I calmed down when
- 41:08Speaker 1: I said, you know what, being angry ain't gonna always
- 41:13Speaker 1: get me the results I need. So I need for
- 41:15Speaker 1: them to think through it all. And I'm like, your
- 41:18Speaker 1: gold every day is to get home safely, unharmed and
- 41:23Speaker 1: uh and to outthinks your enemy. Um, and then it
- 41:28Speaker 1: ain't all about boasting up and and let ego getting away.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I think intelligence, intelligence and and class can go a
- 41:40Speaker 1: long way. And that's sometimes you push out pushed out
- 41:43Speaker 1: of your your comfort zone and ye out of the
- 41:48Speaker 1: those elements. But you have to maintain uh certain amount
- 41:52Speaker 1: of calm. It's a certain amount of um, level headedness.
- 41:59Speaker 1: That's really key. That's really yeah. And then got I
- 42:04Speaker 1: think the key you said was just get home. Just
- 42:07Speaker 1: get home, don't don't don't let pride interrupt the journey.
- 42:10Speaker 1: And the journey is to get home. And uh if
- 42:13Speaker 1: yessir needs to be said, yes, sir, you know the
- 42:17Speaker 1: follow the rules to the back. And that's that's what
- 42:19Speaker 1: I do. You know that Quite frankly, anytime I'm pulled over,
- 42:22Speaker 1: you know, I'm nervous and I'd like to believe that
- 42:25Speaker 1: I've done nothing wrong. And so I'm gonna follow the rules,
- 42:28Speaker 1: and and and and hopefully if by following the rules,
- 42:32Speaker 1: that I'm going to be allowed to go on my way.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And that's really the key. And I think that not
- 42:37Speaker 1: saying I'm not I'm not putting any title onto other situations.
- 42:40Speaker 1: All I know is that the bottom line. One thing
- 42:44Speaker 1: that you're saying, get home saying that's the bottom line.
- 42:46Speaker 1: So I'm gonna switch gears right here, because you know
- 42:48Speaker 1: you've been sporting these hatlines. Here another entrepreneurship lane for you.
- 42:53Speaker 1: These hats now you've been styling them, Anthony, do you
- 42:56Speaker 1: have a hat line out there? Come on that. I
- 42:59Speaker 1: am in a set of working on that and it's uh,
- 43:02Speaker 1: that's one of my one of my babies. Um, I
- 43:05Speaker 1: can't wait. We're in conversations with a few people and uh,
- 43:09Speaker 1: the perfect marriage, it will come or close to the
- 43:12Speaker 1: perfect marriage. Who come, and we'll make the best of it. Uh,
- 43:15Speaker 1: but it's time. It's time to that. Like you said,
- 43:18Speaker 1: I wear I've been wearing other folks pass right, you've
- 43:22Speaker 1: been album you've been sporting them, you've been styling them.
- 43:26Speaker 1: You know, you know, photo shoots, album covers, all that stuff. Man. Yeah,
- 43:32Speaker 1: So now it's it's time for me to uh and
- 43:34Speaker 1: build my own. Well, you're the thing I like about
- 43:37Speaker 1: this conversation because you are a successful touring performer, venues
- 43:42Speaker 1: three thousand, six thousand, ten thousand sea facilities on a
- 43:46Speaker 1: you know, a monthly basis, and so these items that
- 43:49Speaker 1: you're talking about, whether it's the greeting cards with a headline,
- 43:53Speaker 1: you know, these things can be sold to your fans
- 43:56Speaker 1: on tour. And so it's just a natural revenue generation
- 44:01Speaker 1: generating process that you're developing here. And I just really,
- 44:04Speaker 1: I really, I really like the way you're you're taking
- 44:06Speaker 1: your brand and you just designing to hey or something.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It's time for me to make revenue off the stage.
- 44:12Speaker 1: Make revenue while I'm sleepy. That's the big picture, now, correct, Anthony.
- 44:17Speaker 1: That is the big picture. And uh, if you're gonna
- 44:20Speaker 1: be successful, you have to be making money while you're sleeping.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It just it just makes sense. It just it takes
- 44:27Speaker 1: the stress off you and sets up, you know, a
- 44:31Speaker 1: legacy and and you know, providing these opportunities while you rest.
- 44:37Speaker 1: I think when you're chasing and chasing and chasing, you
- 44:40Speaker 1: don't get the rest you need, and you don't think
- 44:42Speaker 1: properly when you when you're under the gun every time,
- 44:45Speaker 1: So while you're resting, if you're making money, there's a
- 44:48Speaker 1: different conflict when you wake up. Well, I'm gona tell
- 44:50Speaker 1: you something, Chef Hamilton's, Um, I'm gonna reach out to
- 44:53Speaker 1: ELI and tell them, hey, man, start sending me some
- 44:56Speaker 1: videos so I can start posting them on a weekly basis.
- 44:59Speaker 1: I'm not one of them, one of them guys who
- 45:01Speaker 1: just do it off on one one out Chef Hamilton's,
- 45:04Speaker 1: We're gonna do this on a regular basis if you
- 45:06Speaker 1: want to. All, I just know that that's my that's
- 45:09Speaker 1: my genre, that's my that's that's what people follow me,
- 45:12Speaker 1: my my program director. He always laugh because people away say,
- 45:15Speaker 1: do you know what they guys, they know nothing about
- 45:16Speaker 1: Steve Harvey, they know nothing about money making conversation, but
- 45:20Speaker 1: they know I bake. And he always laughs. And I
- 45:22Speaker 1: just know that this is something you're building. Paddler, Bell's
- 45:26Speaker 1: and Walmart. You can be in Walmart. Two brother, let's
- 45:29Speaker 1: keep winning, man, yeahlet's do it. Man. I appreciate this,
- 45:32Speaker 1: and uh, I can't wait to take some of those
- 45:34Speaker 1: those pies. And I'm on the real deal. We're gonna
- 45:37Speaker 1: make that happen. Congratulations man, and we'll talk to him
- 45:39Speaker 1: also about that TV show. You got a lot of
- 45:41Speaker 1: things going on, Anthony. I'm just sorry man. Jeff Hamilton,
- 45:44Speaker 1: y'all money Making Conversations, he's a winner. I gotta get
- 45:47Speaker 1: a cake to him. Shut it down. We'll be right
- 45:52Speaker 1: back with more from Rashan McDonald and Money Making Conversations.

- 46:48Speaker 1: empower small businesses with information to succeed. Hey, Roshan McDonald,
- 46:57Speaker 1: we're closing in tow too. I'm telling some last time
- 47:01Speaker 1: that was on my show Tamla went down. You're funny.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I I can't believe how funny you are. She're laughing
- 47:07Speaker 1: a whole interview and she's married to one of the
- 47:09Speaker 1: funniest men in America. So I kind of like kind
- 47:12Speaker 1: of told you who we are. Let me let me
- 47:14Speaker 1: introduce them properly. My next guest. Uh, you know, a
- 47:18Speaker 1: dynamic duo and a CP Image Award winning actor and
- 47:21Speaker 1: his wife Grammy Award winning recording artists. Uh. They're so
- 47:26Speaker 1: busy that they have two websites, two websites killing man
- 47:31Speaker 1: Music dot Com and Mane Tour dot Com. That's just
- 47:35Speaker 1: when you're busy, Okay, when you you just directed people
- 47:38Speaker 1: anywhere and then they got their social media, they're there.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Their beast. Now if they're there, they're the freely neighborhood
- 47:43Speaker 1: entertainment beast. This couple here, please, welcome to money making conversation.
- 47:47Speaker 1: David and Tamla man my favorite. Come Come on now,
- 47:54Speaker 1: come on dot, good morning, Come on now. Um, I've
- 47:59Speaker 1: never you know that the beauty of YouTube is that
- 48:03Speaker 1: your goal is to make people feel good. Your goal
- 48:06Speaker 1: is to inspire people that today will be the best
- 48:09Speaker 1: day in your life. That is awesome to have that
- 48:12Speaker 1: type of uh lifestyle that generates that type of positivity
- 48:18Speaker 1: to people. Am I right in saying that about this
- 48:21Speaker 1: dynamic couple? Yes? It would That would be We're encouraging,
- 48:25Speaker 1: is what I would just summing up to be. Encourage
- 48:28Speaker 1: you to do better for all of us. Would be
- 48:30Speaker 1: better in every fason of your life. Be better. Now, Okay,
- 48:34Speaker 1: now you know I'm reading Essence, you know, talking about
- 48:38Speaker 1: thirty years of love, thirty year anniversary. You know, been together,
- 48:44Speaker 1: you know we survivors, children everywhere, palatial property in Texas.
- 48:51Speaker 1: You know, then I just gotta come out and talkt
- 48:53Speaker 1: about I've been together with my wife for thirty years.
- 48:56Speaker 1: You know I'm not in Essence, I'm not in ebone,
- 48:59Speaker 1: I'm not on social media. How does it feel to
- 49:03Speaker 1: be thirty years in the game, and then people feel
- 49:06Speaker 1: like that's shocking information. You know that that's the first
- 49:09Speaker 1: first first, let me say that, let me give you
- 49:11Speaker 1: your flowers here, right, every congratulations. That's a major thing,
- 49:18Speaker 1: especially nowadays. You know, back in the day, it used
- 49:20Speaker 1: to be that way. You know, people used to stay
- 49:22Speaker 1: together that long. But somebody can get a common cold
- 49:25Speaker 1: and that's reasons for divorce. Now, yes, yes, you know,
- 49:30Speaker 1: so it's not happening much. So that's why it's like, wow,
- 49:35Speaker 1: but you know, but you know, but the thing about
- 49:36Speaker 1: it is that you guys are in the entertainment business
- 49:39Speaker 1: and so and then you know, so you're not bringing
- 49:42Speaker 1: different conversations home because we know an entertainment I'm an
- 49:45Speaker 1: entertainer to you know, there's no guarantees. So there's a
- 49:49Speaker 1: lot of emotionally, and we all know that one of
- 49:52Speaker 1: the number one reasons for divorce is financing finances. The
- 49:57Speaker 1: money ain't there. The conversation gets kind of distant, Okay.
- 50:00Speaker 1: I called it the number one reason for the grass
- 50:04Speaker 1: on the other side, so we think, right, yes, yes,
- 50:08Speaker 1: absolutely aflute. People go to chase that green the grass
- 50:11Speaker 1: and they don't know what that person used to get
- 50:14Speaker 1: that grass green. Absolutely, you know. You know the funny
- 50:24Speaker 1: thing about Tamla without you know, the brilliance of your voice.
- 50:28Speaker 1: And this is really interesting that the couple that you
- 50:31Speaker 1: guys are and I just want to slow it down
- 50:34Speaker 1: and talk about it, you know, and the and the
- 50:36Speaker 1: brilliance of David's comedic ability to be at the top
- 50:41Speaker 1: of your game, the two of you guys, that's that's
- 50:43Speaker 1: the that's the difference. Even though y'all have done shows together,
- 50:47Speaker 1: we know that the jokes are gonna come from him,
- 50:50Speaker 1: and the steady voice of reason on those shows are
- 50:52Speaker 1: gonna come from you. And so what is the David
- 50:56Speaker 1: and Tamla brand? What is the brand? The brand for us,
- 51:02Speaker 1: it's quite simple. We we just want to make good
- 51:06Speaker 1: quality family entertainment that the whole family can watch. And
- 51:10Speaker 1: it's gonna leave a message and you know, not preaching.
- 51:14Speaker 1: We're not trying to preach it anybody. We just want
- 51:16Speaker 1: to send messages of hope to anybody. And before you
- 51:19Speaker 1: know it, you sit and you've listened to whether like
- 51:22Speaker 1: last night we did a show, I did stand up
- 51:25Speaker 1: and before you know it, there were subliminal messages thrown
- 51:29Speaker 1: at you. You know about fives and wife side to
- 51:34Speaker 1: take care of the husband's And then Tam came and
- 51:37Speaker 1: there's nothing subliminal about her message taking it to the key.
- 51:43Speaker 1: There's nothing so bim taking you to the king. I'm
- 51:45Speaker 1: just letting you know that, right, do you know when
- 51:50Speaker 1: their journey they no, ain't no right turn, ain't no swerves,
- 51:53Speaker 1: you know, ain't no yield side. I'm taking you to
- 51:57Speaker 1: the camp. It's all up in your face. And you know,
- 52:00Speaker 1: I guess, like we were talking about earlier, I guess
- 52:03Speaker 1: the big shocker is because we're in an industry that's
- 52:07Speaker 1: known for divorce. I mean you you you look in
- 52:11Speaker 1: our industry and you can just about pick out a
- 52:13Speaker 1: handful of couples that have stood the test of time
- 52:16Speaker 1: that are just said, look, no matter what, it's gonna
- 52:19Speaker 1: be me and you to death through us parts. And
- 52:22Speaker 1: then you look at look at the other ones. It's like,
- 52:25Speaker 1: it's gonna be me and you until we kill each
- 52:26Speaker 1: other or something like that. Right, right, right, We've just
- 52:30Speaker 1: taken a stand. And then one of the first things
- 52:32Speaker 1: we tell the vorce is not an option. Bottom line,
- 52:35Speaker 1: who's gonna work through it? Because the thing I always
- 52:38Speaker 1: say is life is like a circle. If you don't
- 52:40Speaker 1: pass the test with that, with that that person, you're
- 52:45Speaker 1: gonna go through the same test again with somebody else.
- 52:48Speaker 1: But why not just sit and let's reason together, get
- 52:52Speaker 1: an understanding, and we can just roll together. Now. Now,
- 52:55Speaker 1: we also we also tell people if he going upside
- 52:58Speaker 1: your heads, that's that's this thank you. Don't stay if
- 53:02Speaker 1: there's some abuse going on, run forest, run when you're
- 53:09Speaker 1: running out your cell phone calling the police simultaneously just
- 53:13Speaker 1: in case he runs to thank you. Because I think
- 53:19Speaker 1: that's important that you're you're talking like this because it
- 53:22Speaker 1: talks about thirty Talk about the book that's coming out
- 53:25Speaker 1: this fall. You're celebrating thirty years in love by releasing
- 53:28Speaker 1: your first book this fall, Us Against the World, Our
- 53:32Speaker 1: Secrets to Love, Marriage and Family, available November of this year. Now,
- 53:38Speaker 1: let's break that up. What is the secrets the Tamela
- 53:42Speaker 1: and David David and Tamila Man's Secrets to Love. Give
- 53:44Speaker 1: us just a short synopsis. What's that secret? Right? Quick?
- 53:48Speaker 1: I would say, will see that we're trying to outdo
- 53:51Speaker 1: each other, doing for each other like nothing goes lacking,
- 53:55Speaker 1: nothing goes wrong. Morning, I'm making sure that he's getting
- 53:59Speaker 1: his needs met and he's making sure that I'm getting
- 54:02Speaker 1: my needs met. And everybody is happy, and we have
- 54:06Speaker 1: our three elves, live, love and laugh. You're you'll be
- 54:10Speaker 1: surprised at how many couples out there. They can go
- 54:14Speaker 1: to work, they laugh with everybody else, they joke and
- 54:17Speaker 1: kid with everybody else, and they don't they can't sit
- 54:20Speaker 1: and laugh and just have a good belly lads with
- 54:22Speaker 1: each other. And you know, we just we're just living
- 54:26Speaker 1: work fifty two this year, and we're living some of
- 54:30Speaker 1: our best years and and we're living them in love.
- 54:35Speaker 1: And I also say another thing for us will be,
- 54:39Speaker 1: Another sid for us will be is we love each other.
- 54:43Speaker 1: We love the first of all, we love our kids.
- 54:45Speaker 1: But we made our relationship priority. So that's another thing.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Is we didn't put our kids before our marriage. And
- 54:53Speaker 1: some people do that. Some people do that, Yes, yes,
