- 0:00I'm thinking today of Ecclesiastes 7 .26. It
- 0:03says, And I discovered, more bitter than death,
- 0:06the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose
- 0:08hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God
- 0:13will escape from her, but the sinner will be
- 0:15captured by her. Ecclesiastes 7 .26. This is
- 0:19probably talking about actual women. It's also
- 0:21a metaphor, of course, and can speak about a
- 0:24lot of things. And the truth is, we're not just
- 0:26talking about women. We've heard so much about
- 0:28wicked men by this point in time in the book
- 0:30and all throughout the Bible that we know that
- 0:32both men and women are like this. People can
- 0:35do this to one another. To escape means to be
- 0:38at least briefly trapped or nabbed, latched onto.
- 0:42When a person has no proper relationship with
- 0:45God, they are in real danger. They could be both
- 0:48trapped and trapper. That's why we get codependent
- 0:52relationships. where people are in a relationship
- 0:54making the other person out to be something they
- 0:56need them to be because they need them to be
- 0:58that, and both things are bad, but they need
- 1:01the codependent relationship in order to feel
- 1:03alive. Living without the life giver of the universe,
- 1:07without a real relationship with God, becomes
- 1:09a life seeking day by day. You look for life,
- 1:13look for positive things in other people, or
- 1:16even bad things, so that you can feel better
- 1:18about yourself. The problem is... People will
- 1:20always fail. People are not God. The relationship
- 1:23you were created for is the relationship with
- 1:25the God of the universe. A sinner will get trapped
- 1:28in these kinds of relationships. But a person
- 1:30who has a relationship with God, even should
- 1:31they be nabbed shortly, will break free.
