- 0:58Speaker 1: Ashley jeye Board has made the name for herself as
- 1:01Speaker 1: a Grammy nominee music producer and composer. She is the
- 1:05Speaker 1: co writer behind Justin Beaver's hit Yummy, and she's also
- 1:09Speaker 1: a real estate developer. Now with the release of her
- 1:11Speaker 1: book who Can Handle the she can add the title
- 1:14Speaker 1: author because she foiled bankruptcy and had to return to
- 1:18Speaker 1: financial help, so she wrote this book Financially Fly mass Stream,
- 1:21Speaker 1: Money and Wealth for Women. Please welcome to Money Making
- 1:24Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass. Ashley Boyd. How you doing, Ashley, I'm amazing son.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Wow, can you give us some timelines you know of this? Well,
- 1:37Speaker 1: let let's let's let me let me start back. Let's
- 1:39Speaker 1: not go into the bankruptcy. Let's talk about the good times.
- 1:42Speaker 1: You know, uh, you know, songwriter, you know, because I'm
- 1:46Speaker 1: an entertainment and I can't sing elect but I have
- 1:49Speaker 1: been in music radio, uh syndicated radio with Steve Harvey,
- 1:53Speaker 1: so I've made a lot of famous music artists from
- 1:56Speaker 1: Kim to uh to uh, Jill Scott to Mary J.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Blyde to John Legend. Now you are a songwriter. What
- 2:06Speaker 1: is that?
- 2:08Speaker 4: Oh?
- 2:08Speaker 3: My goodness? So songwriter. We are responsible for lyrics and
- 2:12Speaker 3: melody that accompany production. It is the heart and soul
- 2:16Speaker 3: of a song. It's what makes it memorable, it's what
- 2:19Speaker 3: makes it lasting, it's your favorite lyric. Songwriting is the
- 2:24Speaker 3: most important element of a song to me.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So do you have to have any musical skills as
- 2:31Speaker 1: a songwriter, like play a piano, play an instrument? Do
- 2:35Speaker 1: you have to do you have that level of talent
- 2:37Speaker 1: as a songwriter.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I do not play instruments. It would help, it would
- 2:42Speaker 3: help a lot, but I'm just led by by melody.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I would create by listening to tracks that were made
- 2:49Speaker 3: by other people, and I would just tune in, meditate,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and I would let the melodies come to me. The
- 2:54Speaker 3: lyrics would come soon after. It's a process that is
- 2:58Speaker 3: very unique to every single song, right. Everybody has their
- 3:01Speaker 3: different methods of getting the greatness out. But for me,
- 3:04Speaker 3: it was it was somewhat of like a spiritual, you know,
- 3:07Speaker 3: process of just really tapping in and being a channel
- 3:11Speaker 3: to download you know, these thoughts and these melodies.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Now, they tell me, now, the real money in the
- 3:18Speaker 1: in the music game is in writing and publishing. Correct.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Listen, that is one hundred percent correct? Yes, yes, can you.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Explain to my audience exactly what that is? Because you know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: you can be the Old Jays and be singing the
- 3:33Speaker 1: number one hit. But that don't mean you making the
- 3:35Speaker 1: number one hit money. Is that correct?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Right? So it's my experience that as an artist, unless
- 3:41Speaker 3: you are writing your own material, as an artist, you
- 3:45Speaker 3: kind of wind up working for the company that you're
- 3:47Speaker 3: signing to make the majority of your money on shows,
- 3:50Speaker 3: which means you are constantly on the road. You're constantly working,
- 3:53Speaker 3: and it's you know, it's glamorized, but the real lucrative
- 3:58Speaker 3: side of the business for me is the bad. Second.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I own a music publishing company, so it's the collecting
- 4:04Speaker 3: of the fees worldwide every time the song is played
- 4:07Speaker 3: across the globe. You know, that's that's where the money is.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, because I was. I was at this
- 4:13Speaker 1: event this past weekend and Frankie Beverly and from ADS
- 4:18Speaker 1: was being honored and he said his very first contract,
- 4:21Speaker 1: he kept the rights to his publishing. Okay, rights to
- 4:26Speaker 1: his publishing. And so it's explained to me exactly how
- 4:30Speaker 1: because you said that really casually said, every time that
- 4:33Speaker 1: song's play, they get paid. How do they track.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That they have systems in place, they have satellite in
- 4:41Speaker 3: the sky. I you know, I don't know all of
- 4:44Speaker 3: the technicalities right there are there. There's several have several
- 4:48Speaker 3: several different firms that track every single time your song
- 4:53Speaker 3: is played, every time it is streams, every time it
- 4:56Speaker 3: appears on television or on the internet, you know, every
- 5:00Speaker 3: time you have to upload a song on social media.
- 5:03Speaker 3: They track every single time and every single spin and
- 5:06Speaker 3: it's monetized.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Wow. The interesting thing about that is that you know
- 5:12Speaker 1: when I when I because we're all trying to make
- 5:14Speaker 1: money in my name and my show with money making
- 5:16Speaker 1: comes age master class, you know, because I hear I'm
- 5:22Speaker 1: trying to say this correctly. Because when I got an entertainment,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I wanted to be a stand up comic, okay, And
- 5:28Speaker 1: I can't sing, I can't dance. I think I can sing,
- 5:30Speaker 1: and I know I can't dance, okay, And so I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: don't even go there. I'm a I'm horrible okay. And
- 5:40Speaker 1: so but as a stand up I was really good,
- 5:43Speaker 1: you know, but I couldn't act though I could. I could,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I could.
- 5:47Speaker 4: That was that.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I was very funny. But eventually you move on to
- 5:50Speaker 1: different skill levels. Okay. As a songwriter, was that your
- 5:53Speaker 1: original journey?
- 5:56Speaker 3: No? Actually, I was I'm a product of an entertainment household.
- 5:59Speaker 3: My mother I was a singer in Detroit in the seventies.
- 6:02Speaker 3: She singing a girl group. My father managed her group.
- 6:05Speaker 3: So growing up I had plaques on the wall and
- 6:07Speaker 3: I got the best of both worlds. I saw my
- 6:09Speaker 3: mom on stage and I saw my father handling all
- 6:12Speaker 3: of the business, and as a young girl, I leaned
- 6:14Speaker 3: towards the business. I really wanted to understand the workings
- 6:17Speaker 3: of the entertainment industry, and the older I got, you know,
- 6:21Speaker 3: I turned my poems and my writing into songs, and
- 6:25Speaker 3: I would go to lay my songs down in the
- 6:28Speaker 3: studio and I would get offers to people tell me
- 6:31Speaker 3: you need to sing, you should do this, And I
- 6:34Speaker 3: was offered a record deal from Murder Inc. My first
- 6:37Speaker 3: project had a song out with Ja Rohl called Body,
- 6:41Speaker 3: and that was my introduction to the music industry. The
- 6:45Speaker 3: songs did amazing, and at around that time I was
- 6:50Speaker 3: offered a publishing deal, and unlike Frankie Beverly, they wanted
- 6:54Speaker 3: seventy five percent of my publishing. So me understanding the business,
- 6:59Speaker 3: I turned that deal down and I had my one
- 7:02Speaker 3: song out and I moved on from that situation. It
- 7:06Speaker 3: was very interesting because to have a passion for the
- 7:09Speaker 3: industry and to have an opportunity in front of you,
- 7:12Speaker 3: but the business isn't right. It's just you know, it
- 7:14Speaker 3: makes you look in the mirror and question a lot
- 7:15Speaker 3: of stuff. But I went with my heart on that one,
- 7:17Speaker 3: and you know today I own my own publishing company,
- 7:21Speaker 3: so it was definitely the right decision.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Okay, cool, Now this is really interesting because the whole
- 7:25Speaker 1: publisher because in my intro, I say, Grammy nominee music
- 7:29Speaker 1: producer composer Justin Beaver's hit Yummy. How do you get
- 7:34Speaker 1: a song to Justin Beever, how does Ashley George Boy
- 7:38Speaker 1: get a song that Justin Beefer?
- 7:41Speaker 3: Well, that for ask we joy Boy. That one is
- 7:44Speaker 3: that is a one phone call. My husband has been
- 7:47Speaker 3: Justin Bieber's main collaborator for you, so that one, that
- 7:53Speaker 3: one came through my husband, Pool Bear and him and
- 7:57Speaker 3: I work together musically before he even started working with Justin,
- 8:01Speaker 3: so you know, that one was a long time coming.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I worked on a few different songs on the Purpose album,
- 8:07Speaker 3: a few different songs on the Journal's album, but Yummy
- 8:10Speaker 3: was the one that got the most traction. So that
- 8:13Speaker 3: was a that was a shoeing for me. I'm very
- 8:15Speaker 3: grateful for that.
- 8:16Speaker 1: But you don't don't know, kind of like you shin
- 8:18Speaker 1: away way up through my husband. It was the hook up.
- 8:21Speaker 1: But you know, I'm gonna tell you something. People could
- 8:24Speaker 1: say no, you know, and then you have to put
- 8:26Speaker 1: something in front of somebody for them to say yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 1: And I want to I want to bring that up
- 8:31Speaker 1: to people. You know a lot of times in life,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know, people alwaysay shine you do a lot, you know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: like I like baking and I like that anytime. I
- 8:38Speaker 1: would tell you if you if you cracked that door
- 8:42Speaker 1: and you allowed me to put my foot in the door,
- 8:44Speaker 1: I must mention you slide my whole leg in that door.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And then if I got my leg in there, the
- 8:51Speaker 1: body gonna show up. Okay, And so you know what
- 8:54Speaker 1: I'm saying. So so when you say that, that's a
- 8:56Speaker 1: perfect example of this yummy your husband he were with
- 9:00Speaker 1: justin Bieber. Okay, husband, I got this ng over. Okay,
- 9:04Speaker 1: you have to convince him because you don't want to
- 9:06Speaker 1: look at he said. That's not a good baby. That's
- 9:07Speaker 1: not good baby. That's how good baby? When you're gonna
- 9:10Speaker 1: let him here? When you're gonna let him here. And
- 9:11Speaker 1: then he eventually hears it. So what he says, I
- 9:16Speaker 1: like this, I want to do something with it. Where
- 9:18Speaker 1: are you at emotionally or where you were? Where were
- 9:21Speaker 1: you at emotionally?
- 9:23Speaker 3: Gosh at that point on ten, I'm like, it's about time.
- 9:27Speaker 3: But I have to go back my husband when he
- 9:29Speaker 3: met me. I you know, he met me around the
- 9:32Speaker 3: time I had my deal with Murder, Inc. And the
- 9:34Speaker 3: reason that they signed me and worked with me is
- 9:36Speaker 3: because I was a writer. They embraced me as a
- 9:39Speaker 3: writer first, even before an artist. So I mean he
- 9:42Speaker 3: respects my path as well. And it's you know, he's
- 9:44Speaker 3: he's such a legend. So to stand up next to him,
- 9:48Speaker 3: you know, in a in a in a non competitive form,
- 9:51Speaker 3: you know, it was just it was a great opportunity.
- 9:53Speaker 3: But he respects my artistry as well. So it works out.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Now, this is a happy part of the conversation. Ladies
- 9:59Speaker 1: and gentlemen. You know you know her name of her
- 10:02Speaker 1: her book is Financial fly Mastering Money, Wealth, Money and
- 10:09Speaker 1: Wealth for Women. Financially fly Mastering Money and Wealth for Women.
- 10:13Speaker 1: You file bankruptcy at one time in your life? Correct?
- 10:18Speaker 3: I did? I did? I? Thought the world had ended
- 10:21Speaker 3: for me. It was the most devastating thing. During the
- 10:24Speaker 3: housing crash in eight I was upside down in a
- 10:28Speaker 3: house and I was very young. I had no direction,
- 10:31Speaker 3: I had no guidance. I did not know how to
- 10:34Speaker 3: work the system in my favor. And it forced me
- 10:37Speaker 3: to file bankruptcy. And you know, they say that stays
- 10:39Speaker 3: on your credit seven to ten years. Oh, you won't
- 10:42Speaker 3: be able to get another mortgage. Your interest rates on
- 10:45Speaker 3: everything are going to be high for the rest of
- 10:47Speaker 3: your life. You know. I just I thought that that
- 10:49Speaker 3: was the end of the road, and I was so young.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I was devastated. But that really it forced me to research,
- 10:57Speaker 3: and it forced me to learn the hard way, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 3: how to protect myself going forward. And you know, it
- 11:04Speaker 3: was a pivotal moment because it just changed my trajectory.
- 11:08Speaker 3: You know, it changed how I looked at my relationship
- 11:10Speaker 3: with money, you know, and it made me just lock
- 11:13Speaker 3: in and have to make decisions that were going to
- 11:16Speaker 3: protect me in the future.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Now we said protect yourself in the future. Let's go
- 11:20Speaker 1: back for a minute, Like I have been overprotective of
- 11:24Speaker 1: my credit over the years. You know, my daughter is
- 11:27Speaker 1: exactly the same way she she'll tell me, She'll tell
- 11:30Speaker 1: you a credit score. That's how she looks it up.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Every week day, credit score goes up. Dad, if I
- 11:36Speaker 1: do this, and so so I like to believe I've
- 11:38Speaker 1: got to focus in the right direction. She's not going
- 11:41Speaker 1: to mess up. The staple of what you need to
- 11:43Speaker 1: do business in his life in this world is good credit.
- 11:46Speaker 1: So how are we able to climb out of that mess?
- 11:51Speaker 3: It just took time, and it took a very diligent, persistent,
- 11:55Speaker 3: you know, mindset to sacrifice when I needed to, and
- 11:59Speaker 3: and to know that it was going to be a
- 12:00Speaker 3: labor of love, that it was going to take time.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I'm like your daughter. I checked my credit score all
- 12:06Speaker 3: the time. Not just I need I need to see
- 12:08Speaker 3: that the number makes sense. But it's a commitment. And
- 12:12Speaker 3: these are things that we are not well. I wasn't
- 12:15Speaker 3: taught this in high school, you know, and money is
- 12:17Speaker 3: a very taboo topic and a lot of households, especially
- 12:20Speaker 3: in our culture. So that's part of the reason that
- 12:22Speaker 3: I wanted to create the book was just to create
- 12:26Speaker 3: an environment for engaging conversations where people know, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 3: mistakes that I made that they may not make the
- 12:33Speaker 3: same mistakes.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You know, the interesting thing is about money management is
- 12:38Speaker 1: that people run from numbers. People run from the truth.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I guess I should say, because sometimes the truth scares people.
- 12:47Speaker 1: But sometimes you got to hear the truth to get
- 12:51Speaker 1: to the positive. Is it that correct when I'm saying
- 12:55Speaker 1: people ignore the obvious when the obvious should be observed.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Well, it's a lot of emotional reaction when it comes
- 13:04Speaker 3: to money. People splurge, you know, for whatever reason. You know,
- 13:08Speaker 3: usually it's something that makes them feel good and you know,
- 13:11Speaker 3: overcompensating in certain areas. But it's a harsh reality when
- 13:15Speaker 3: you look at numbers in black and white, and it
- 13:17Speaker 3: can really hurt your feelings. You know, it can hurt
- 13:20Speaker 3: your feelings or you can use it as a stepping
- 13:22Speaker 3: stone to create a silent plant. And you know, I
- 13:25Speaker 3: just I promote that I think it's really important to
- 13:28Speaker 3: have structure and to check in with yourself on a
- 13:32Speaker 3: regular basis to make make sure that you're still in
- 13:35Speaker 3: the course.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Wow, I'm talking to Ashley Joyboard. Grammy Numbinee wrote a
- 13:43Speaker 1: song with for Justin Bieber. One of my you know
- 13:46Speaker 1: an artists I like song was called Yummy Flying High,
- 13:51Speaker 1: Flying High flying high all the good things young. Then
- 13:55Speaker 1: guess what something she wasn't prepared for When we come
- 13:57Speaker 1: back and we're talking more detailed on what some her
- 14:00Speaker 1: tips and tunes for positively changing and improving that mindset
- 14:03Speaker 1: at mindset that we're talking about that you can recover,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but sometimes you'll have to recover if you set the
- 14:09Speaker 1: steps in place to see it coming. Be right back
- 14:12Speaker 1: with more Money Making Conversation Masterclass.
- 14:21Speaker 5: We'll be right back with more money Making Conversations Masterclass

- 15:15Speaker 4: Twitter and Instagram.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Hi, this is Rashan McDonald. Welcome back to Money Making
- 15:20Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass. I am speaking to Ashley joy Board, born
- 15:25Speaker 1: and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Her book entitled Financially Fly
- 15:29Speaker 1: Mastering Money and Wealth for Women. Why did you write
- 15:33Speaker 1: this book?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Gosh, I just felt like it was such a need.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I wanted to encourage conversations, especially among women. I wanted
- 15:41Speaker 3: women to find a safe space where they felt like
- 15:44Speaker 3: they were talking to a friend, a girlfriend, or somebody
- 15:47Speaker 3: that they trust. And you know, I just I wanted
- 15:50Speaker 3: to encourage women to just stay the course in order
- 15:53Speaker 3: to sustain financial freedom.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Now, when you say, first of all, you sound like
- 15:58Speaker 1: a school teacher, don't know if anybody told you, which
- 16:01Speaker 1: is really good? You really you have that soothing void. Yeah,
- 16:05Speaker 1: you sound like a school teacher, which is really really
- 16:07Speaker 1: good because that means I'm listening, right, you know, everybody
- 16:09Speaker 1: listening to the school teacher. Okay, So don't they that
- 16:11Speaker 1: it's a negative because because you provide information that can
- 16:15Speaker 1: change people's lives. Now, now, in writing this book, are
- 16:20Speaker 1: you when you say women miss out? Are they women
- 16:24Speaker 1: need to know? Information that women need to know from
- 16:26Speaker 1: a financial perspective, give me a little bit more detail
- 16:29Speaker 1: on that.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Well, it's just I've come in contact I live in
- 16:33Speaker 3: Miami now come in contact with so many young girls
- 16:36Speaker 3: that have businesses that have this cash flow. They have
- 16:40Speaker 3: you know, online businesses. However, they're getting their money, They're
- 16:43Speaker 3: getting the bag. Okay, the money is not the problem.
- 16:47Speaker 3: But just because you know how to make money does
- 16:49Speaker 3: not know that you can maintain it or grow it. So,
- 16:52Speaker 3: just in conversations that I've had, I realized that there
- 16:55Speaker 3: is just a missing element in terms of turning this
- 16:59Speaker 3: well that is in your hands now into generational wealth.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Generational wealth, that's a term I hear a lot. In fact,
- 17:07Speaker 1: I've used that term on my Showred hundreds of times.
- 17:10Speaker 1: What exactly does generational wealth mean.
- 17:15Speaker 3: To me? Generational wealth means that your kids, your grandchildren,
- 17:20Speaker 3: your lineage has a structure in place to where they
- 17:26Speaker 3: do not have a need for any outside people to
- 17:33Speaker 3: come in and save them your family structure. For me,
- 17:36Speaker 3: generational wealth is when your family structure is so tight
- 17:40Speaker 3: and I'm talking trusts, life insurance policies, estate plans that
- 17:45Speaker 3: the kids don't have to worry about the money to
- 17:47Speaker 3: bury the grandparents. You know, I just when I came up,
- 17:52Speaker 3: it was not common for people in my neighborhood to
- 17:58Speaker 3: have anything in a trust or to have anything left
- 18:01Speaker 3: to him. It was often a burden to bury your
- 18:03Speaker 3: loved one. So generational wealth for me is just the
- 18:07Speaker 3: structure that is in place that I mean, you can
- 18:10Speaker 3: draw outside the lines on that one, but it's just
- 18:13Speaker 3: the structure has to be so solid that everybody in
- 18:15Speaker 3: the family can sustain and it's protected.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Now, one thing I'm forgetting that is part of your
- 18:20Speaker 1: resume is real estate development.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, when I lived in I lived in
- 18:27Speaker 3: LA for eight years and I just fell in love
- 18:30Speaker 3: with real estate development. The properties there have the most
- 18:33Speaker 3: amazing views and a lot of them are very old,
- 18:36Speaker 3: so it was a great market to come in and
- 18:39Speaker 3: fix up homes and I was definitely passionate about that.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Now that's a high market now La. I lived near
- 18:46Speaker 1: LA fifteen years.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Now.
- 18:47Speaker 1: It's nothing cheap in LA. It may have great views asley,
- 18:52Speaker 1: but it's the views casts. Those views costs to LA.
- 18:56Speaker 1: But the thing about it is that what exactly Because
- 18:58Speaker 1: I'm always try trying to break things down, not only
- 19:02Speaker 1: for people who listen to my show or watch my
- 19:04Speaker 1: show is real estate developer. Now I'm a homeowner. I
- 19:09Speaker 1: bought several houses in my life now and now go
- 19:12Speaker 1: in and remodel the house to my standards. Alone with
- 19:14Speaker 1: my wife, she would say, I don't like that. I
- 19:16Speaker 1: would like that. We agree, then we make the change.
- 19:19Speaker 1: What is a real estate developer?
- 19:22Speaker 3: Gosh? Well for me, my husband he thrust that title
- 19:25Speaker 3: on me. We purchased homes and he said, We're not
- 19:28Speaker 3: going to hire a designer nor an architect. I trust
- 19:30Speaker 3: you with this project, gut it and do with it
- 19:34Speaker 3: what you please. And so that's what I did. I
- 19:37Speaker 3: would I would take homes and I love model.
- 19:40Speaker 1: So you a home flipper? You flipped homes?
- 19:44Speaker 3: Well, nope, can't say that I flipped. And we have tenants.
- 19:48Speaker 3: We have tenants in LA to this date. Okay, yeah,
- 19:51Speaker 3: But but my goal I have a goal for I
- 19:54Speaker 3: would love to actually develop new construction projects in the
- 19:58Speaker 3: city of Detroit, for doable housing projects. So, I mean,
- 20:01Speaker 3: I still have a list of goals when it comes
- 20:04Speaker 3: to that world. But I'm just passionate about the process
- 20:07Speaker 3: of developing home. Now.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, we all know in January, you know, we
- 20:11Speaker 1: always make these resolutions. I'm gonna lose weight, I'm gonna
- 20:15Speaker 1: save money. I'm gonna be a better person to everybody.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Now that means that, Look, you are the author financially
- 20:23Speaker 1: fly Mastering Money and Wealth for Women. So yes, it's
- 20:27Speaker 1: Twitter twenty four. What are a few of your top
- 20:30Speaker 1: tips for investing and saving money. Let's talk about investing
- 20:34Speaker 1: and then we're gonna talk about saving money investing.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I would encourage people to invest in themselves first and foremost,
- 20:42Speaker 3: yourself aligned expense. When it comes to when you have
- 20:45Speaker 3: your bills in front of you, put your name down
- 20:48Speaker 3: and do not miss that payment for yourself. Prioritize it
- 20:51Speaker 3: as if it's going to show up on your credit report.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Make sure that you know. Everybody's income is different, so
- 20:56Speaker 3: you have to sit down and figure out what exactly
- 20:58Speaker 3: works for you. But the most important thing is that
- 21:01Speaker 3: you start and you build the right habits in order
- 21:04Speaker 3: to save and in order to you know, have money
- 21:08Speaker 3: to invest.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Now it's really interesting when you say that, because this
- 21:13Speaker 1: year I have decided Rashaan gonna put a little some
- 21:18Speaker 1: for Rashwan.
- 21:20Speaker 3: I love it.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I'm seriously and my wife went, where are you gonna
- 21:23Speaker 1: get that? From I said, don't worry about it. Don't
- 21:25Speaker 1: worry about it, said friend of mine. A friend of mine,
- 21:31Speaker 1: he contacted me. He said, Hey, you know I'm doing
- 21:33Speaker 1: a birthday celebration here can you come? And I went, baby,
- 21:36Speaker 1: we're gonna go. You go really? Oh you making decisions
- 21:39Speaker 1: like that now? I said, yes, I am. I'm gonna
- 21:42Speaker 1: make a decision for me for a change, because I've
- 21:44Speaker 1: always like made decisions for why well, you know, i
- 21:49Speaker 1: gotta be on the air for the radio show, I'm
- 21:51Speaker 1: producing the TV show, or I got to be there
- 21:54Speaker 1: because I'm managing somebody. I've always put other people in
- 21:58Speaker 1: front of me. And so this year in twenty twenty four,
- 22:02Speaker 1: I love that idea of little line item. I call that,
- 22:05Speaker 1: I call that little life line for yourself. Yeah, that
- 22:10Speaker 1: makes so much situation. And I have to tell you, Ashley,
- 22:13Speaker 1: your boy in twenty twenty four, he got that line
- 22:15Speaker 1: item right in front of everything. I got that in
- 22:18Speaker 1: front of a bills number, food, everything, top of the line.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Capital M. I was gonna say, I just feel like
- 22:28Speaker 3: it's a I'm big on mentality and mindset and I
- 22:32Speaker 3: just want people. I want to empower people to know
- 22:34Speaker 3: that you deserve everything you desire. And I feel like
- 22:37Speaker 3: our relationship with money no matter where we got our
- 22:39Speaker 3: habits from our parents or just from watching how the
- 22:42Speaker 3: world works. A lot of people have a scarcity mindset
- 22:45Speaker 3: and they don't even realize why or what is rooted in.
- 22:48Speaker 3: So I would encourage people to focus on having a
- 22:51Speaker 3: mindset of abundance and just know that your mindset controls
- 22:56Speaker 3: everything around you. You know. It's just it's really it's
- 23:00Speaker 3: really special that you just tap.
- 23:01Speaker 1: In and go for what you believe in mindset of me.
- 23:05Speaker 1: M see you, You've given me the truth today, Ashley.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I'm going home because my wife listens to the show. Anyway,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm going home, and she gonna text me anyway me
- 23:16Speaker 1: because I'm gonna tell you something. I am a workaholic.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I probably work. I don't sleep as much as I
- 23:22Speaker 1: can sleep. I sleep like four five hours a day,
- 23:24Speaker 1: you know. And I'm telling you twenty twenty four, your
- 23:27Speaker 1: boy got the word me in front of everything. As
- 23:31Speaker 1: we close the show, we close the show a tip
- 23:34Speaker 1: on saving money. How can people save money?
- 23:38Speaker 3: Gosh, be diligent. You have to listen, create boundaries for yourself,
- 23:42Speaker 3: check in with yourself, be extremely diligent and know that
- 23:46Speaker 3: it may be a small sacrifice, but the habits that
- 23:48Speaker 3: you create they pay off in the long term.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Wow, the school teacher has spoken everybody. She might call
- 23:56Speaker 1: herself Ashley Joe Boyd, but she's a school teacher and
- 23:59Speaker 1: she's out there preaching from the book of Financially Fly
- 24:03Speaker 1: mastering money and wealth for women. As we close the show, Nasty,
- 24:08Speaker 1: thank you for coming on Money making Conversations, Master Lives.

- 24:29Speaker 3: This was a pleasure.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Oh you've been fantastic. It's been funny. I've learned some
- 24:32Speaker 1: things and you know, really it really as we close
- 24:35Speaker 1: the show, you have to put yourself first. Some people
- 24:38Speaker 1: call it selfish, but I'm gonna telling you so. You
- 24:41Speaker 1: have to realize that, you know, God is giving you
- 24:44Speaker 1: an opportunity to experience a new day when you open
- 24:47Speaker 1: your eyes. I will tell people the alarm clock is
- 24:49Speaker 1: not waking you up. God's waking you up. There's a
- 24:51Speaker 1: lot of alarm clocks that are going off and people
- 24:53Speaker 1: are not responding to them. And so when he wakes up,
- 24:55Speaker 1: have a plan, and that plan should be about you,
- 24:58Speaker 1: and then don't be selfish about it. Share that abundance
- 25:02Speaker 1: with other people that I try to do it every day, Ashley.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I try to do it every day, and I really
- 25:07Speaker 1: uns to God believe that if I keep doing that,
- 25:10Speaker 1: then it's gonna be all good for Rashan too. Again,
- 25:12Speaker 1: thank you for coming on my show and we would
