- 0:05Speaker 1: He's extremely busy sleeping. Now, could we speak to the president?
- 0:08Speaker 3: Whel that be possible. We could do it anytime over
- 0:10Speaker 3: the next month.
- 0:11Speaker 4: They're so used to this, right, I said, no, I'll
- 0:13Speaker 4: pick it up right now.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Is he on the phone.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Yeah, Hello, you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update
- 0:19Speaker 4: with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:20Speaker 5: Good Monday morning. It's Ben Ferguson. Nice to have you
- 0:23Speaker 5: with us, and here are the big stories we're covering today.
- 0:25Speaker 5: On the forty seven Morning Update. Columbia's President Petro buckled
- 0:30Speaker 5: under Donald Trump's trade war threat after the President refused
- 0:35Speaker 5: to allow planes to land in his country filled with
- 0:37Speaker 5: illegal immigrants from his nation. I'll have the latest on
- 0:41Speaker 5: how Donald Trump pulled this off in a moment. Also,
- 0:44Speaker 5: we now have the CIA saying that the government lied
- 0:48Speaker 5: to you about the lab leak theory coming out of
- 0:51Speaker 5: the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the new CIA director explaining
- 0:55Speaker 5: exactly what the evidence is. We'll play that for you
- 0:59Speaker 5: in a moment as well. And finally, Vice President jd
- 1:02Speaker 5: Vance calling out the Catholic Church for protecting illegal immigrants
- 1:07Speaker 5: and profiting off them as well. It's the forty seven
- 1:11Speaker 5: Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Story number one.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Sunday was a very busy day for Donald Trump and
- 1:18Speaker 5: foreign policy, especially after Columbia's President Petro decided to stop
- 1:24Speaker 5: two military planes landing in his country filled with illegal
- 1:29Speaker 5: immigrants had been rounded up in America. The worst part
- 1:32Speaker 5: about the story is he had said early on he
- 1:35Speaker 5: would allow the planes to land and then decided to
- 1:39Speaker 5: block them. Well, President Donald Trump wasn't having any of
- 1:42Speaker 5: that and said, Okay, you want to go to war,
- 1:45Speaker 5: let's do it. And that is when Donald Trump responded
- 1:49Speaker 5: with some incredible threats to the country. In a response,
- 1:53Speaker 5: Trump swiftly enacted a wave of retaliatory measures, including ordering
- 1:58Speaker 5: a twenty five one percent tariff be imposed on all
- 2:02Speaker 5: Colombian goods coming to the US. Now, many in the
- 2:05Speaker 5: media that were acting like that wasn't a big deal,
- 2:08Speaker 5: except if you look at what Colombia exports to America,
- 2:12Speaker 5: it is a big deal, including Colombian coffee. These measures
- 2:16Speaker 5: are just the beginning. Trump said, we will not allow
- 2:19Speaker 5: the Colombian government to violate its legal obligations with regard
- 2:24Speaker 5: to the acceptance and return of the criminals they forced
- 2:29Speaker 5: into the United States. Trump went on to warn that
- 2:33Speaker 5: that tariff that starts at twenty five percent would then
- 2:37Speaker 5: jump to fifty percent at the end of week one.
- 2:41Speaker 5: Now before the South American leader cave, the Secretary of
- 2:44Speaker 5: State Marco Rubio also alleged that the President of Columbia
- 2:49Speaker 5: had canceled his authorization for the flights of Colombian nationals
- 2:53Speaker 5: when the planes were already in the air. It is
- 2:56Speaker 5: a responsibility of each nation to take back their citis
- 3:00Speaker 5: who are illegally present in the United States in a
- 3:03Speaker 5: serious and expeditious manner. The Colombian president had authorized the
- 3:08Speaker 5: flights and provided all needed authorizations, and then canceled his
- 3:12Speaker 5: authorization when the plans were in the air. Rubio went
- 3:15Speaker 5: on to say on x as demonstrated by today's actions,
- 3:20Speaker 5: we are unwavering in our commitment to end illegal immigration
- 3:24Speaker 5: and bolster America's border security. Rubio went on to state, well,
- 3:29Speaker 5: guess what happened. The President of Columbia instantly caved after
- 3:34Speaker 5: the list came out of exactly what President Trump was
- 3:37Speaker 5: going to do. It wasn't just the emergency tariffs that
- 3:41Speaker 5: were jumping from twenty five to fifty percent at the
- 3:43Speaker 5: end of one week, but also a travel ban and
- 3:46Speaker 5: an immediate visa revocations on the Colombian government officials, also
- 3:52Speaker 5: all of their allies and supporters. Donald Trump wasn't done
- 3:56Speaker 5: with that, saying visa sanctions will happen on all all
- 4:00Speaker 5: party members, family members, and supporters of the Colombian government.
- 4:05Speaker 5: And just to add on to that, the President said
- 4:08Speaker 5: he was going to have enhance customs and border protection
- 4:12Speaker 5: inspections of all Colombian nationals as well as cargo because
- 4:17Speaker 5: of the national security grounds. And finally, the President said
- 4:22Speaker 5: the IEPA treasury, banking and financial sanctions will be fully imposed.
- 4:29Speaker 5: These measures are just the beginning, the President stated, and
- 4:32Speaker 5: we will not allow the Colombian government to violate its
- 4:35Speaker 5: legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and the return
- 4:39Speaker 5: of criminals that they forced into the US. Well, guess
- 4:43Speaker 5: what the Colombian president did. Not only did he say okay,
- 4:47Speaker 5: let's all get along, but he even said he would
- 4:51Speaker 5: send his own presidential jet to America to pick up
- 4:56Speaker 5: the one hundred and sixty plus the legal immigrants that
- 4:59Speaker 5: we were originally flying back to Columbia. If you want
- 5:02Speaker 5: to know what make America Great Again looks like well,
- 5:05Speaker 5: Donald Trump, he's bringing it.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Week one now, story number two.
- 5:10Speaker 5: So remember the lie that we were told for years
- 5:13Speaker 5: from the Biden Harris administration that there was no such
- 5:16Speaker 5: thing as a lab leak when it came to the
- 5:18Speaker 5: origins of COVID nineteen. You may also remember the doctor
- 5:22Speaker 5: Fauci lied to the American people and even needed a
- 5:26Speaker 5: preemptive pardon because of what he said the American people
- 5:28Speaker 5: about the Institute of Virology in Wuhan and the lab
- 5:32Speaker 5: leak theory. He also fund a gain of function research
- 5:37Speaker 5: and lied about that. Well, now because all of those
- 5:40Speaker 5: individuals are out of the government, we're finding out exactly
- 5:44Speaker 5: what really happened and the CIA. It is now being
- 5:48Speaker 5: reported by Politico, the Wall Street Journal, the BBC, Fox News,
- 5:52Speaker 5: even CNN and the Associated Press are now running headlines
- 5:56Speaker 5: that say the CIA believes COVID most likely origin from
- 6:00Speaker 5: a lab. Yes. Another headline, the CIA releases new analysis
- 6:05Speaker 5: on COVID origins, favoring lab leak theory. Politico's headlines AA
- 6:09Speaker 5: now says COVID nineteen is more likely to have originated
- 6:12Speaker 5: from a lab leak. These headlines would have been banned
- 6:16Speaker 5: from social media and had your account silenced or even
- 6:20Speaker 5: shut down if you share them during COVID nineteen in
- 6:24Speaker 5: the pandemic. But now we're hearing a lot more about
- 6:27Speaker 5: the facts. John Radcliffe is now the CIA director after
- 6:32Speaker 5: being confirmed this past week, and here is what he
- 6:35Speaker 5: had to say about the American people. It's time that
- 6:37Speaker 5: they are able to trust their government again.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Part of what we have to do is we have
- 6:42Speaker 3: to restore Americans trust in our own institutions like the
- 6:47Speaker 3: intelligence community and law enforcement, and that includes the CIA.
- 6:51Speaker 3: And you know, one of the things that the President stress,
- 6:54Speaker 3: you know, the purpose of the CIA is to protect Americans,
- 6:58Speaker 3: to keep us safe from foreign threats and foreign adversaries.
- 7:01Speaker 3: But we also need to be truthful with Americans. And
- 7:04Speaker 3: he has stressed to me and others that these aren't
- 7:07Speaker 3: mutually exclusive missions. We can do both. And so in
- 7:10Speaker 3: the case of the CIA, which is the best foreign
- 7:13Speaker 3: intelligence service in the world, after five years, to not
- 7:17Speaker 3: have a public assessment, to be honest with the American
- 7:20Speaker 3: people about where the likely source of a pandemic that
- 7:25Speaker 3: killed millions around the world, including a million Americans, and
- 7:29Speaker 3: really impacted all three hundred and forty five million Americans
- 7:33Speaker 3: in some way. People lost jobs, they lost houses, they
- 7:36Speaker 3: lost their health, they lost their businesses, all of that.
- 7:40Speaker 3: And so I had the opportunity on my first day
- 7:44Speaker 3: to make public an assessment that actually took place in
- 7:46Speaker 3: the Biden administration, so it can't be accused of being political,
- 7:50Speaker 3: and it does assess The CIA has assessed that the
- 7:54Speaker 3: most likely cause of this pandemic that has wrought so
- 7:58Speaker 3: much devastation around the world was because of a laborated
- 8:01Speaker 3: incident in Wuhan, and so we'll continue to investigate that
- 8:05Speaker 3: moving forward. But I think it was important for the
- 8:08Speaker 3: American people to see an institution like the CIA get
- 8:12Speaker 3: off the sidelines and be truthful about what our intelligence
- 8:15Speaker 3: shows at the same time of protecting us from adversaries
- 8:20Speaker 3: like China if they caused or contributed to this.
- 8:22Speaker 5: It's very clear from Ratcliffe's words there that the President
- 8:25Speaker 5: of United States of America, Donald Trump, is instructing the
- 8:28Speaker 5: people in his cabinet to be transparent with the American people,
- 8:33Speaker 5: to bring back faith to institutions like the CIA or
- 8:37Speaker 5: the FBI or the Department of Homeland Security. And I
- 8:40Speaker 5: have a feeling what we're going to witness in the
- 8:42Speaker 5: days and the weeks ahead is more people like Radcliffe
- 8:46Speaker 5: stepping up and saying this is what they were hiding
- 8:49Speaker 5: from you in the Biden and Harris administration. It is
- 8:53Speaker 5: clear this is an initiative of Donald Trump. So get
- 8:56Speaker 5: ready for more bombshells and also many moments that are
- 9:00Speaker 5: going to probably be like I knew I was right,
- 9:02Speaker 5: moments where we relied to by our government.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And lastly, story number three.
- 9:07Speaker 5: There's a very famous saying. It is a saying that
- 9:10Speaker 5: you've probably heard before. Follow the money. Well, nothing could
- 9:13Speaker 5: be truer when it comes to government and politics, and
- 9:17Speaker 5: many times when there is a crisis and money is
- 9:19Speaker 5: thrown at that crisis, there are always people on the
- 9:22Speaker 5: take that are more than happy to get rich. Well, jd.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Vance is now calling out the Catholic Church saying they
- 9:31Speaker 5: are doing more to help immigrants, illegal immigrants, specifically to
- 9:36Speaker 5: actually help their bottom line, not so much because they
- 9:40Speaker 5: believe in a policy. Well, Vice President Jady Vance ruffled
- 9:43Speaker 5: a lot of feathers when he got into it back
- 9:45Speaker 5: and forth over the idea now that the government is
- 9:48Speaker 5: going to raid churches to if there are legal immigrants
- 9:53Speaker 5: in attendance, there are some saying that is inhumane, and
- 9:57Speaker 5: the President of the United States of America is saying
- 9:59Speaker 5: there should be no that is off limits to violent
- 10:02Speaker 5: illegal immigrants, even if they seek refuge in a church.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Take a listen to what JD. Van t had to
- 10:09Speaker 5: say about the Catholic Church profiting off of quote taking
- 10:15Speaker 5: care of illegal immigrants in America.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Of Catholic bishops this week condemned some of the executive
- 10:21Speaker 1: orders signed by President Trump, specifically those allowing immigration and
- 10:26Speaker 1: customs enforcement to enter churches and to enter schools. Do
- 10:30Speaker 1: you personally support the idea of conducting a raid or
- 10:33Speaker 1: enforcement action in a church service at a.
- 10:36Speaker 2: School, Well, let me let me address this.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Of course, if you have a person who is convicted
- 10:41Speaker 6: of a violent crime, whether they're an illegal immigrant or
- 10:44Speaker 6: a non illegal immigrant, you have to go and get
- 10:46Speaker 6: that person to protect the public safety. That's not unique
- 10:49Speaker 6: to immigration.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But let me just address this particular issue, Margaret, because.
- 10:53Speaker 6: As a practicing Catholic, I was actually heartbroken by that statement,
- 10:58Speaker 6: and I think that the US Conference of Catholics needs
- 11:00Speaker 6: to actually look in the mirror a little bit and
- 11:03Speaker 6: recognize that when they receive over one hundred million dollars
- 11:06Speaker 6: to help resettle illegal immigrants. Are they worried about humanitarian
- 11:11Speaker 6: concerns or are they actually worried about their bottom line.
- 11:14Speaker 6: We're going to enforce immigration law. We're going to protect
- 11:17Speaker 6: the American people. Donald Trump promised to do that, and
- 11:21Speaker 6: I believe the US Conference.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Of Catholic Bishops. If they're worried about.
- 11:24Speaker 6: The humanitarian costs of immigration enforcement, let them talk about
- 11:28Speaker 6: the children who have been sex trafficked because of the wide.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Open border of Joe Biden. You person talk about going
- 11:34Speaker 2: people like Blake and Riley who are brutally murdered.
- 11:37Speaker 6: I support US doing law enforcement against violent criminals, whether
- 11:40Speaker 6: they're all legal immigrants or anybody else, in a way
- 11:43Speaker 6: that keeps US safe. Let me ask this question, Margaret,
- 11:46Speaker 6: let's separate the immigration issue.
- 11:48Speaker 2: If you had a violent murderer in a school, of course.
- 11:51Speaker 6: I want law enforcement to go and get that person out.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Of course, the point of the question, you change the
- 11:56Speaker 1: regulation this week. That's the point of the.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Question exactly, the to go into church, going to school,
- 12:02Speaker 6: the empowered law enforcement to enforce the law everywhere to
- 12:06Speaker 6: protect Americans.
- 12:07Speaker 1: In fact, a chilling effect arguably to people to not
- 12:10Speaker 1: send their pipes to school.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I desperately hope it has a chilling effect.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You think the the US Conference of Catholics Bishops are
- 12:18Speaker 1: actively hiding criminals.
- 12:20Speaker 6: I think the US Conference of Catholic Bishops has frankly
- 12:23Speaker 6: not been a good partner in common sense immigration enforcement
- 12:26Speaker 6: that the American.
- 12:27Speaker 2: People voted for.
- 12:28Speaker 6: And I hope again as a devout Catholic, that they'll
- 12:31Speaker 6: do better.
- 12:32Speaker 5: As a devout Catholic, he hopes they'll do better. So
- 12:35Speaker 5: follow the money, what are we talking about. Early reports
- 12:38Speaker 5: have been coming out after Vance did that interview showing
- 12:42Speaker 5: millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars have
- 12:47Speaker 5: been flowing into the Catholic charities to make sure that
- 12:51Speaker 5: they take care of the illegal immigrants. Yes, the Catholic
- 12:55Speaker 5: Church is profiting off of this, There's no doubt about it.
- 12:59Speaker 5: And now you have the Vice President of the United
- 13:01Speaker 5: States of America calling them out for it.
