- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome. It is a verdict with Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson
- 0:03Speaker 1: with you, and this is a bonus episode a verdict, Senator.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I appreciate you taking the time you just landed, and
- 0:11Speaker 1: this obviously is news that is rocking the country. The
- 0:15Speaker 1: Attorney General Merrick Garland, someone that you've called for there,
- 0:19Speaker 1: should be investigated and should be impeached for the job
- 0:23Speaker 1: that he has done in your new book, he has
- 0:26Speaker 1: now come out made an announcement making it clear that
- 0:29Speaker 1: he is going to war with Donald Trump and trying
- 0:33Speaker 1: to make it where he wouldn't even be able to
- 0:35Speaker 1: be the president ever again. He said this earlier based
- 0:39Speaker 1: on recent developments, including the former president's announcement that he
- 0:43Speaker 1: is a candidate for president in the next election and
- 0:46Speaker 1: the sitting president stated intention to be a candidate as well.
- 0:51Speaker 1: I have concluded that it is in the public interest
- 0:54Speaker 1: to appoint a Special Council. Such an appointment underscores the
- 1:00Speaker 1: Apartment's commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It also allows prosecutors and agents to continue their work
- 1:10Speaker 1: expeditiously and to make decisions indisputably guided only by the
- 1:15Speaker 1: facts and the law. The Special Council will conduct parts
- 1:20Speaker 1: of the first investigation. I just mentioned the investigation into
- 1:24Speaker 1: whether any person or entity unlawfully interfered with the transfer
- 1:28Speaker 1: of power following the twenty twenty presidential election or with
- 1:33Speaker 1: the certification of the Electoral College vote held honor about
- 1:36Speaker 1: January sixth, Senator, you tweeted about this earlier, and it's
- 1:41Speaker 1: just two days after the President announced that he's going
- 1:44Speaker 1: to run for a third time, and this is how
- 1:47Speaker 1: they respond to that decision. Your thoughts, Well, we've predicted
- 1:52Speaker 1: on Verdict weeks ago that the Department of Justice was
- 1:57Speaker 1: going to indicte Donald Trump. Joe Biden wants them to
- 2:01Speaker 1: indict Donald Trump, that Merrick Garland wants to indict Donald Trump.
- 2:07Speaker 1: This is part and parcel with the whole scale politicization
- 2:12Speaker 1: of the Department of Justice and the FBI and law
- 2:15Speaker 1: enforcement under first Barack Obama and now even more blatantly
- 2:20Speaker 1: under Joe Biden. And appointing a special counsel is window dressing.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It is designed for Merrick Garland to say, oh, who me, gosh, No,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I have nothing to say about it. It's it's the
- 2:34Speaker 1: special counsel that's doing the indictment. Remember when we said
- 2:37Speaker 1: this was when DJ leaked the news that they intended
- 2:42Speaker 1: to indict Hunter Biden. That was and we've talked at
- 2:46Speaker 1: some length about it. I believe they're deliberately focusing on
- 2:50Speaker 1: the personal aspects of Hunter Biden, his substance abuse, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: tax issues, rather than the official corruption that directly implicates
- 2:58Speaker 1: Joe Biden. But the other reason they leaked their intentions
- 3:03Speaker 1: about Hunter Biden was to set the stage for this
- 3:06Speaker 1: for them going after Donald J. Trump directly and to say, gosh,
- 3:11Speaker 1: look how we even handed we are. We're inditing a Biden,
- 3:14Speaker 1: We're inditing a Trump. We're just right in the middle
- 3:16Speaker 1: of the row. This is politics. It is an abusive power,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and it is wrong center. This is and I think
- 3:23Speaker 1: one of the points here that should be brought up
- 3:26Speaker 1: is this is exactly what you talked about and went
- 3:30Speaker 1: into such great detail in your book. And this is
- 3:34Speaker 1: the reason why I would tell you, if you haven't
- 3:35Speaker 1: bought your book yet, do it. I've read the book
- 3:38Speaker 1: and it's like, oh wow, this is how row this
- 3:41Speaker 1: administration has gone. Not only have they tried to overthrow
- 3:44Speaker 1: the will of the people in the twenty and sixteen elections,
- 3:47Speaker 1: they tried to undermine the present. The entire time is here.
- 3:49Speaker 1: They knew that they were hiding information that would vindicate
- 3:53Speaker 1: Donald Trump from any connection to Russia. They knew that
- 3:56Speaker 1: the dossier was paid for by the Democratic National Committee,
- 3:59Speaker 1: and they knew that it was paid for by Hillary
- 4:01Speaker 1: Clinton's campaign. And they knew that that information, which they
- 4:04Speaker 1: had categorized as clearly being as they described it, user created,
- 4:10Speaker 1: meaning the people that brought it to them created out
- 4:13Speaker 1: of thin air. They waited and set and watched as
- 4:17Speaker 1: the President of the United States America was in an
- 4:19Speaker 1: impeachment trial over information. They could have walked out and said,
- 4:22Speaker 1: none of this is real. And now they're saying, basically,
- 4:25Speaker 1: we didn't get your last time. It's almost like double
- 4:28Speaker 1: jeopardy from the DOJ. Well, look, that's exactly right. This
- 4:32Speaker 1: is precisely what my brand new book talks about. The
- 4:35Speaker 1: book is Justice Corrupted, how the Left has weaponized the
- 4:39Speaker 1: legal system, and it walks the reader through how Barack
- 4:43Speaker 1: Obama turned the Department of Justice, that the IRS, and
- 4:45Speaker 1: the FBI into his political enforcement squad. It then walks
- 4:50Speaker 1: the reader through how those hard partisans burrowed into senior
- 4:55Speaker 1: career positions and waged war on the press of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: United States Donald Trump in a way that has never
- 5:03Speaker 1: happened in our nation's history. And then it walks the
- 5:06Speaker 1: reader through how under Joe Biden it is fully metastasized,
- 5:10Speaker 1: where Merrick Garland is the most political Attorney general our
- 5:14Speaker 1: country has ever seen. Whether it is the FBI and
- 5:18Speaker 1: raiding Marlago, the home of a former president, never happened
- 5:21Speaker 1: before in our nation's history. Whether it is the FBI
- 5:25Speaker 1: targeting parents who speak up at school boards and treating
- 5:29Speaker 1: them as domestic terrorists, whether it is the FBI raiding
- 5:33Speaker 1: the homes of pro life activists with machine guns drawn.
- 5:37Speaker 1: All of this is an extension of the view that
- 5:41Speaker 1: the FBI and the Department of Justice are now partisan
- 5:45Speaker 1: weapons to be deployed by the Democrats, and their intention
- 5:50Speaker 1: is to indict Donald Trump because they hate him. This
- 5:54Speaker 1: is Trump derangement syndrome, but this time with a gun
- 5:58Speaker 1: and a badge. Let me ask this, what is the
- 6:02Speaker 1: definition of success look like for Democrats and the DJ
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm not even sure it's get anything where he's guilty.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Is it just getting an indictment of Donald Trump? Explain
- 6:17Speaker 1: the politics of this. We have two years until the
- 6:21Speaker 1: presidential elections. What do they need to do and accomplish
- 6:24Speaker 1: at the minimum to basically derail a candidate's ability to
- 6:31Speaker 1: run a successful campaign for the presidency. And you notice
- 6:34Speaker 1: I asked you that question without Donald Trump's name involved,
- 6:37Speaker 1: because if they can do it to Donald Trump, they
- 6:39Speaker 1: could do it to basically anybody that's on the Republican
- 6:42Speaker 1: side that decides to run. If this is a game
- 6:44Speaker 1: plan of how to make it where you're the candidate
- 6:47Speaker 1: we don't like and we're going to come after you
- 6:49Speaker 1: and then we'll make you basically ineligible. Well, and in
- 6:53Speaker 1: the book Justice Corrupted, I walk through how they did
- 6:56Speaker 1: this to Ted Stevens, who was then the longest serving
- 7:00Speaker 1: senator Republican senator from Alaska, and they indicted him right
- 7:04Speaker 1: before the election, and it ended up causing him to
- 7:08Speaker 1: be defeated. It cost him his seat. And afterwards I
- 7:12Speaker 1: walked through all of the prosecutorial misconduct is one of
- 7:16Speaker 1: the greatest abuses of power, and that was carried out
- 7:21Speaker 1: for political purposes. They want to do the same playbook here,
- 7:24Speaker 1: and to indict someone, what it means legally to indict
- 7:28Speaker 1: someone is to bring formal charges and so a grand
- 7:32Speaker 1: jury votes out an indictment. Now the grand jury doesn't
- 7:37Speaker 1: get to hear from the defendant. The grand jury doesn't
- 7:40Speaker 1: get to hear the other side of the argument. It's
- 7:43Speaker 1: the prosecutor bringing witnesses and putting evidence before the grand jury.
- 7:47Speaker 1: There's an old line that a prosecutor can indict a
- 7:51Speaker 1: hand sandwich, and there's a lot of truth to that.
- 7:54Speaker 1: There's enormous power that a prosecutor has. That It's why
- 7:58Speaker 1: it is so dangerous when it is weaponized like this,
- 8:02Speaker 1: when it is used as a tool of political retribution.
- 8:06Speaker 1: And I believe their intention is to get an indictment
- 8:10Speaker 1: I think likely in the district of Columbia, because they
- 8:12Speaker 1: know the jury pool is so skewed Democrats that they
- 8:18Speaker 1: don't believe Trump can get a fair shake there, which
- 8:21Speaker 1: is what they want. And then I think they want
- 8:23Speaker 1: to try to prosecute them. They want to try to
- 8:27Speaker 1: convict Trump. These guys are zealots and they have behaved
- 8:32Speaker 1: as zealots from the very first day they took the
- 8:37Speaker 1: oath of office. Do they fast track this then? I mean,
- 8:40Speaker 1: is that the goal here, that the holy grail for
- 8:42Speaker 1: them is you fast track and indictment, you then get
- 8:45Speaker 1: him where you can put this up basically on trial.
- 8:48Speaker 1: If you can find him guilty of any of these
- 8:51Speaker 1: charges in the District of Columbia, is he then ineligible
- 8:55Speaker 1: to be president of the United States of America at
- 8:58Speaker 1: that point, I don't think that's going to happen. They
- 9:02Speaker 1: may have dreams of legally barring him from running, but
- 9:05Speaker 1: that ain't going to happen. I think the chances of
- 9:08Speaker 1: that are minuscule. But what their plan is. Listen, we've
- 9:11Speaker 1: seen them run this playbook before. They did it when
- 9:15Speaker 1: Trump was president with not one but two impeachment trials
- 9:19Speaker 1: that were designed just to drag Trump through the mud,
- 9:22Speaker 1: to beat up on him day after day after day.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And they did that in because they were waging a
- 9:30Speaker 1: political campaign. We've seen it the last two years with
- 9:34Speaker 1: the January sixth Kangaroo Committee in the House. That was
- 9:39Speaker 1: a partisan presentation. It's not a congressional committee. Congressional committee
- 9:44Speaker 1: has both sides represented. In this instance, Nancy Pelosi refused
- 9:50Speaker 1: to let the Republicans appoint their member. She wanted to
- 9:54Speaker 1: not have anyone who would be supportive of Trump on
- 9:58Speaker 1: the committee, and so she put together what was essentially
- 10:02Speaker 1: a giant campaign commercial. Now the January sixth Committee is
- 10:06Speaker 1: going away because Republicans have retaken the House. So apparently
- 10:13Speaker 1: Merritt Garland a Department of Justice are stepping forward saying, Okay,
- 10:16Speaker 1: we got this, it's our turn now to after the indictment,
- 10:20Speaker 1: have a daily drift of leaks which DJ isn't supposed
- 10:24Speaker 1: to be leaking, and an effort you know, they the
- 10:30Speaker 1: White House, the Department of Justice, the partisans at the FBI,
- 10:35Speaker 1: they hate Donald Trump and they just they see red
- 10:38Speaker 1: when they see him, and the lengths they are willing
- 10:42Speaker 1: to go is wrong. And I gotta tell you then,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I hear from FBI agents all the time who are
- 10:48Speaker 1: horrified at what is happening to the FBI. I hear
- 10:52Speaker 1: from prosecutors at DOJ repeatedly who are horrified as what
- 10:58Speaker 1: is happening to DJ. This is not the line prosecutors,
- 11:02Speaker 1: this is not the line FBI agents. This is the
- 11:06Speaker 1: political brass and the senior career officials where they allowed
- 11:11Speaker 1: partisans to burrow in and use it as a political weapon.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And mark my words, the reason a special prosecutor was
- 11:22Speaker 1: appointed was they intend to indict Donald Trump. That's the
- 11:28Speaker 1: takeaway from the news that came out yesterday to last
- 11:31Speaker 1: two questions for you left as we do this special
- 11:35Speaker 1: at Bonus Pod because of the news of today. Senator,
- 11:39Speaker 1: Let's go back to two thousand and sixteen. Merritt Garland
- 11:44Speaker 1: was nominated to the Supreme Court by then President Barack
- 11:47Speaker 1: Obama in March of twenty sixteen. The Senate never voted
- 11:51Speaker 1: on his nomination. How much of this could be the
- 11:54Speaker 1: motivation of just pure revenge for Garland because he is
- 11:58Speaker 1: angry and upset that he's not on the Supreme Court
- 12:01Speaker 1: of the United States of America. Do you think that's
- 12:04Speaker 1: playing into some of this where it's just straight up
- 12:06Speaker 1: revenge for Donald Trump winning that election and Republicans this
- 12:10Speaker 1: is payback for not giving him a vote that he wanted. Yeah, look,
- 12:14Speaker 1: it's hard to imagine that that's not a significant factor.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Many of the Senate Democrats still seed at the fact
- 12:23Speaker 1: that the Senate Republican majority followed the voters wishes and
- 12:27Speaker 1: said we've been given a majority. And when there's a
- 12:30Speaker 1: vacancy that occurs in a presidential election year, a senator
- 12:33Speaker 1: of an opposing party doesn't fill that vacancy, and that
- 12:37Speaker 1: goes back many many decades. The voters gave Republicans a
- 12:41Speaker 1: majority in twenty fourteen in the Senate, and one of
- 12:43Speaker 1: the big things that we campaigned on was stopping radical
- 12:47Speaker 1: left wing judges. But Merrick Garlands Democrat senators the White House,
- 12:52Speaker 1: they all resent that furiously, and you know, look, it's
- 12:57Speaker 1: worth pointing out. So sometimes with a special counsel, you
- 13:02Speaker 1: see someone that they're trying to get some credibility for.
- 13:06Speaker 1: So you sometimes see a special counsel that is of
- 13:10Speaker 1: the opposing political party to say, well, gosh, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 1: this is a prominent Republican we're going to use. What
- 13:17Speaker 1: is interesting about this fellow. The fellow that Merritt Garland
- 13:20Speaker 1: named is a guy named Jack Smith. I don't know him.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I'm not familiar with him. So we just have the
- 13:27Speaker 1: news that is percolating out in the opening hours. But
- 13:31Speaker 1: he's someone who was a career prosecutor for a long time.
- 13:36Speaker 1: He was a prosecutor at the Hague prosecuting war crimes.
- 13:40Speaker 1: But I can tell you this, the folks at DOJ
- 13:44Speaker 1: they know as politics. One hundred percent they know is politics.
- 13:49Speaker 1: One of the things that I walked through in the
- 13:51Speaker 1: book Justice Corrupted is how with the lowest Learner scandal.
- 13:55Speaker 1: You remember, under Barack Obama, the IRS was targeting conservatives,
- 14:00Speaker 1: targeting Tea Party activist, targeting pro Israel activists, targeting pro
- 14:04Speaker 1: life activists, and when the news broke it was a
- 14:06Speaker 1: huge scandal, so much so that Barack Obama gave a
- 14:11Speaker 1: news conference from the White House where he said, I
- 14:14Speaker 1: am angry, and the American people have a right to
- 14:18Speaker 1: be angry. He understood just how bad it was to
- 14:21Speaker 1: politicize the IRS and law enforcement. And what ended up
- 14:25Speaker 1: happening is the prosecutor they put in charge of this
- 14:30Speaker 1: at DOJ was a major Democrat donor who given over
- 14:35Speaker 1: six thousand dollars to Barack Obama and to the DNC,
- 14:39Speaker 1: And wonder of wonders, that major Democrat donor refused to
- 14:44Speaker 1: bring charges and DOJ then Stonewall Congress Blowis Lerner refused
- 14:50Speaker 1: to testify, she pleaded the fifth she was held in
- 14:52Speaker 1: contempt of Congress, and the Department of Justice refused to
- 14:55Speaker 1: prosecutor and it blockaded any effort to holds her accountable.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Merrick Garland knows exactly what he is doing and in
- 15:06Speaker 1: appointing this prosecutor and the news media which sadly today
- 15:12Speaker 1: is thoroughly corrupt. We'll try to pitch him as a nonpartisan.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Given every other behavior from this attorney general, I think
- 15:23Speaker 1: the chances that this prosecutor does not loathe Donald Trump
- 15:29Speaker 1: are essentially zero. Lastly, and we're going to be doing
- 15:34Speaker 1: a video podcast. We're going to break down this story
- 15:37Speaker 1: a lot more. So get ready for that this coming
- 15:39Speaker 1: week on Monday. We'll have that for you, plus will
- 15:42Speaker 1: have the audio. So make sure you subscribe and download
- 15:45Speaker 1: Verdict with Ted Cruz. It is free. You hit that
- 15:47Speaker 1: subscribe or auto download button and you'll get the episodes
- 15:50Speaker 1: each and every day. But lastly, put this in perspective
- 15:53Speaker 1: in a historical contact center of just how radical what
- 15:58Speaker 1: we are witnessing now is comparing it to other countries.
- 16:02Speaker 1: This is, I truly believe, a sad day for this nation.
- 16:06Speaker 1: It was a sad day in a slippery slope when
- 16:09Speaker 1: the president's home was rated at Marlago. The fact that
- 16:12Speaker 1: a former president's home would be rated, it was a
- 16:14Speaker 1: day where I was worried that we would never come
- 16:17Speaker 1: back from it. Now watching what's happened, then moving forward,
- 16:20Speaker 1: trying to take out the president, put him in handcuffs,
- 16:23Speaker 1: convict him, put him in jail. How concerned are you
- 16:26Speaker 1: about just in this nation in general, because this is
- 16:30Speaker 1: something we've never seen in this country and now the
- 16:32Speaker 1: Democrats are actively doing it in a revenge mode. Yeah. Look,
- 16:36Speaker 1: that's exactly right. But we have had forty six presidents
- 16:40Speaker 1: in our nation's history. No president has ever tried to
- 16:44Speaker 1: do this. We've had president switched from one party to
- 16:48Speaker 1: the other. And listen, you see in Banana Republic. You
- 16:51Speaker 1: see in tinpot dictatorships, when one party takes control of
- 16:56Speaker 1: the government, they go after their predecessors. They probably secute them,
- 17:00Speaker 1: they lock them up and put them in jail. And
- 17:03Speaker 1: that's sadly in places where rule of not law is
- 17:07Speaker 1: not respected, that's fairly typical of abusive and tyrannical governments.
- 17:14Speaker 1: The United States has never ever, ever done that until now,
- 17:20Speaker 1: until Joe Biden and this politicized Department of Justice. They
- 17:25Speaker 1: hate Trump so much and they are so self righteous
- 17:29Speaker 1: and sure of their own own partisan position. They also know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: because the corporate media has been so corrupted that the
- 17:38Speaker 1: media will not hold into accounts, that they could abuse
- 17:42Speaker 1: the Department of Justice of the FBI and not expect
- 17:45Speaker 1: any meaningful scrutiny. That is incredibly dangerous, but it is
- 17:51Speaker 1: where we are today. It's incredible. We're gonna have, like
- 17:54Speaker 1: I said, another pod and extended, you know, normal length
- 17:57Speaker 1: one on Monday for you. That will also be with
- 18:00Speaker 1: videos so you can watch it on YouTube Center. Thanks
- 18:03Speaker 1: for taking the time tonight. I know you've had a
- 18:05Speaker 1: busy schedule to day and I know you want to
- 18:07Speaker 1: talk to people, let them know exactly what you thought
- 18:09Speaker 1: about this, because this is going to be a very
- 18:11Speaker 1: big topic of conversation and a sad moment I think
- 18:14Speaker 1: in American history. And we will see all of you
- 18:16Speaker 1: guys back here on Monday. Don't forget share this podcast
- 18:21Speaker 1: wherever you're listening to it right now, Text it to
- 18:23Speaker 1: your family and friends. Write us a five star review
- 18:26Speaker 1: for the podcast so we reach more conservatives, and we'll
- 18:29Speaker 1: see it back here on Monday morning.
