Latest / The Lila Rose Show / Allegations Rock Daystar Christian TV: Child Abuse Claims, Power Struggles, and Investigations
Transcript
- 0:00Hello guys. Hello, welcome back to the Lila
- 0:02Rose show. We are going live on YouTube
- 0:05today to talk about some big stories that are out today and
- 0:09just in the last few days. First of all, allegations that
- 0:12are rocking one of the biggest religious broadcasting groups in
- 0:16the world, day star Christian TV, allegations of sexual abuse
- 0:20cover up and more. There's a lot to unpack here.
- 0:22I have been following the story over the last week closely and
- 0:25I'll explain why I think it matters and unpack some of that
- 0:27today. Also, there are oral arguments
- 0:30that were heard today in the landmark Supreme Court case
- 0:34United States V. Scarametti, which is a pending
- 0:37US Supreme Court case on whether bans on gender affirming care is
- 0:41what the media is reporting it As for transgender minors
- 0:45violate the equal protection cause of the 14th Amendment.
- 0:48Basically, the debate is about whether or not it should be
- 0:51legal. It's OK for young people to be
- 0:55given things like double mastectomies and other forms of
- 0:59bodily mutilation, puberty blockers because they suffer
- 1:02from gender dysphoria, and whether it is OK for states to
- 1:06ban doctors from doing this. Of course, you know where I
- 1:09stand on that. We've covered this on the show
- 1:10before, but a lot to talk about. All very important stuff and
- 1:14obviously heavy topics, but these things matter.
- 1:16That's where we are covering them.
- 1:18I'm also going to be keeping an eye on the chat over here on
- 1:20YouTube. Hello, John Henry, thanks for
- 1:23joining. Thanks for being on the show
- 1:26here. Hello, Light of Faith, she's
- 1:28saying. I'm so sad for Susie.
- 1:30Susie is one of the people caught up in the Daystar scandal
- 1:34that's has erupted and we're going to talk about that in a
- 1:36few minutes. Hi, Debbie, thanks for joining.
- 1:39OK, so I will keep keep an eye on the chat as we go.
- 1:42Let's start with the Supreme Court and just talk about this
- 1:44briefly because oral arguments were heard.
- 1:46Here's the headline from CNN says takeaways from the historic
- 1:50transgender care arguments. Now I just have to say this
- 1:53because it's insane. The media loves to talk about
- 1:58double mastectomies, removing healthy breasts from children,
- 2:02and literal castration of minors as transgender care.
- 2:07This is what the media does. This is a case in point right
- 2:10here from CNN of how the media likes to talk about doing very
- 2:15harmful things to children in the name of healthcare.
- 2:18Of course, I am no stranger to this.
- 2:20We criticize abortion all the time in the the show being
- 2:22called healthcare by the mainstream media.
- 2:24Here they are doing it again on these transgender treatments.
- 2:27As they say, really what it is is bodily mutilation of young
- 2:30children. Here is the Fox News headline.
- 2:33It's a little more, I think, closer to the truth.
- 2:36But again, it has its issues. It says Sotomayor compares trans
- 2:39medical treatments to aspirin in question about side effects
- 2:43during oral arguments. So as you know, Justice
- 2:46Sotomayor is very far left in support of transing children if
- 2:49that's what the parents want. And they say the kid decides.
- 2:52And even here Fox News is calling it trans medical
- 2:55treatments, at least it puts it in parentheses here as if it
- 2:59might not be the actual medical treatment.
- 3:01But Sotomayor is saying that this is just like giving your
- 3:04kid an aspirin, that if you give your child puberty blockers,
- 3:06which by the way, could lead to lifelong infertility, mood
- 3:09disorders, other problems for the child, it's just like giving
- 3:13the child an aspirin. So I hope that the Supreme Court
- 3:16does the right thing here. I think the read my read on it
- 3:19is as the some of the more conservative justices made very
- 3:21good arguments about the health risks to children of these
- 3:25supposed transgender treatments. And I think absolutely not only
- 3:29should states have the right to ban doing this to young
- 3:32children, to minors, but that states should be banning this
- 3:36treatment of minors. And what we need to be doing is
- 3:38addressing the underlying condition that a kid may have
- 3:40with gender dysphoria and addressing that as opposed to
- 3:44harming their bodies bodies because they're suffering with
- 3:47this mentally. All right, that being said,
- 3:49let's go next to the scandal over at Daystar.
- 3:53This caught my eye last week, guys, because I am, first of
- 3:57all, very in the world of media, as you guys know, I am paying
- 4:01attention to what's happening in the media world.
- 4:04I care about the media world. I think that people in with face
- 4:08with a faith need to be out there in media doing stuff.
- 4:10So Daystar TVI, Full disclosure, I've been out to Texas where
- 4:14their headquarters are. This was a few years ago when I
- 4:17was going on my book tour for Fighting for Life and I went to
- 4:20Daystar. I met Joni, I met Jonathan and
- 4:23Susie, which is the son of and daughter-in-law of Joni that is
- 4:27at odds now with Joni. They all seem like very kind
- 4:30people and I was, I remember really being surprised at the
- 4:33incredible infrastructure that Daystar had built up.
- 4:36There are some reports that this is a hundreds of millions of
- 4:39dollar worth company now that is broadcasting.
- 4:42I mean, it's an older media model, but it's broadcasting to
- 4:45many, many people. As you all know, EW 10 help
- 4:48sponsor the Lila Rose Show. EW 10 is the largest religious
- 4:51broadcaster in the world. So I understand the value of
- 4:54these companies and these nonprofits to do this kind of
- 4:57work to reach people with media content that they believe in,
- 5:00the gospel, other things. So of course, it's all the more
- 5:03heartbreaking when there is a scandal and when that scandal
- 5:07involves something as horrific as child sexual abuse,
- 5:10allegedly, as well as a family feud, which is looking like what
- 5:14is going on here. One other thing I need to say
- 5:16too, though, is I came into learning about this via, you
- 5:20know, news reports that kind of started circulating late last
- 5:23week, but with the eye of an investigative reporter because I
- 5:27spent a decade investigating Planned Parenthood for child
- 5:31sexual abuse cover up. I care a lot about the evil and
- 5:35exposing the evil of child sexual abuse cover up.
- 5:37So when I saw this story, it caught my eye and I wanted to
- 5:40deep dive it because it had it was this cross section of things
- 5:43that I care about faith-based media, family working in faith
- 5:47face media together, people that I've met before.
- 5:50And then of course, the horrific allegations of child sexual
- 5:53abuse and the fact that it may have been covered up by an
- 5:57entity and groups that should have been protecting those
- 6:00children. So lots to unpack here.
- 6:01We're going to get into it. First, I want to do a Pew thank
- 6:04you to our sponsor. Exodus 90 has changed the lives
- 6:08of thousands of men, making them more spiritually, physically and
- 6:12mentally strong and more successful in their
- 6:14relationships, work and life. Ladies, this is an amazing
- 6:18program to share with the men that you love.
- 6:20And men, if you haven't tried it already, now is the time.
- 6:22Exodus 90 was created by men, for men and offers men a path to
- 6:26greater freedom by helping them temporarily detach from
- 6:30unhealthy habits and teaching them physical, mental and
- 6:33spiritual toughness. This 90 day journey, supported
- 6:35by the Exodus 90 app and community, connects men with
- 6:39accountability partners and provides daily inspiration to
- 6:42strengthen their resolve and encourage them down a path of
- 6:45self-discipline. The results speak for
- 6:47themselves. 99% of men who make an Exodus report a greater level
- 6:52of freedom than they've ever experienced before.
- 6:54For the men in our audience, I encourage you to join Exodus 90
- 6:57with Monsignor James Che, the President of the University of
- 7:00Mary, who is the spiritual guide for Advent.
- 7:02This year on the Exodus 90 app, go to Exodus 90.com/lila to
- 7:06learn more about Advent on the Exodus 90 A.
- 7:08That's Exodus 90.com/lila to join men from around the world
- 7:12this Advent starting December 1st.
- 7:15OK so let's break down the story that is emerging from Daystar
- 7:19and from those that are. There was recently something
- 7:22called the Roy's Report which is a investigative reporter who
- 7:25tries to look at the corruption that may exist in faith-based
- 7:29the faith-based world and try to expose different evils.
- 7:32And apparently Susie and Jonathan Lamb who worked for
- 7:38Daystar. Jonathan Lamb is the son of Joni
- 7:40Lamb, went to the Roy's Report with this story that the Roy's
- 7:45report, did their due diligence on it and decided that this was
- 7:48something that they wanted to cover.
- 7:50Julie Roy's is the reporter and launched this bombshell report.
- 7:54I think it was just last week. Since then there has been a lot
- 7:58of back and forth responses from Daystar from Joni Lamb, from
- 8:02those that defend her, and then more videos and responses to
- 8:06that from Jonathan and Susie Lamb.
- 8:09So what I want to start here with is a video from Joni Lamb
- 8:13that just came out last night. Some of the latest comments that
- 8:16she has about the case. Now a little bit more background
- 8:19on Joni. Joni serves right now as the
- 8:21president of Daystar. Her late husband Marcus Lamb
- 8:24died during COVID and since then she has remarried and she now Co
- 8:28hosts one of their flagship shows with her new husband.
- 8:32One of the allegations against Joni is that she married someone
- 8:37who had a divorce in their past and that was supposedly the
- 8:40reason for some of the rift that Jonathan, Susie is saying,
- 8:44started to happen between themselves and the network.
- 8:46Jonathan not approving of the marriage.
- 8:48There's a lot of back and forth on that.
- 8:49But the core disagreement it seems, is that Jonathan and
- 8:54Susie are saying that their daughter, their young daughter,
- 8:57was allegedly molested by a closely associated employee of
- 9:01Daystar TV as well as a family member, and they are accusing
- 9:05Joni of covering up this molestation.
- 9:08They're also claiming that there is a culture of spiritual
- 9:11bullying and intimidation at Daystar.
- 9:13And they are also saying that they were demoted from their
- 9:16jobs. Jonathan specifically was
- 9:18demoted from his job as a host at Daystar and instead he was
- 9:22ultimately fired because he refused to sign an NDA.
- 9:26Now Joni is saying that this is a totally false smear campaign
- 9:29against her and the network and saying that Jonathan is
- 9:32inventing some of these charges because he was disappointed by
- 9:36the fact that he was not chosen to be the head and the president
- 9:39of Daystar after his father passed away during COVID.
- 9:43And that Joni says that Jonathan is also disappointed about the
- 9:46marriage, her marriage to Doug, her new husband.
- 9:49So this is their fundamental, some other fundamental
- 9:52disagreements. Let's take a listen to Joni's
- 9:55statement about why her son was fired from the network.
- 9:59Let's start there. Was another incident written
- 10:02about? That was an incident that
- 10:06happened at our family retreat. This was in 2021.
- 10:13We were all staying in this in this house together.
- 10:16And again, we do that once a year.
- 10:18And my two older grandchildren were staying in an upstairs
- 10:23bedroom and it was a long room and there was a bunk bed on one
- 10:29side and there was another bunk bed on the other side.
- 10:32And so my grandson was talking about that.
- 10:35He had the city view and he was saying his sister had the beach
- 10:39view. And so one afternoon he was
- 10:44talking about that and who they call Pete was in the room
- 10:50holding a one year old baby boy. OK.
- 10:54And so Pete says, oh, so you've got the city view.
- 10:59And everybody was talking about, well, I'd rather have the beach
- 11:01view and, and, and my grandson saying, no, I like the city
- 11:04view. And Pete said, well, I like the
- 11:06city view too. And so and he said, I want to
- 11:10see your city view. So they went up the stairs.
- 11:13The grandson, let's pause it really quick.
- 11:16I want to properly contextualize this.
- 11:18I'm sorry. So I said we were talking about
- 11:19why she fired Jonathan. This is actually more core.
- 11:22And so we're starting with this. We're playing the clip about
- 11:24Joni Lamb is explaining the core accusation that was made against
- 11:30this associated employees. That's family member that
- 11:32they're calling Pete is that he was alone at the beach house in
- 11:36the room with the young daughter of Susie and John Jonathan.
- 11:40So they're claiming that this was part of what was covered up
- 11:43by Joni Lamb. Joni Lamb is here now explaining
- 11:45what actually happened in her view.
- 11:47This is what she's saying happened instead and she's
- 11:49saying that this associated employee family member again
- 11:52called Pete actually went up into this bedroom at the beach
- 11:56house that the whole family was at the extended family was at
- 11:59and that Pete was holding an infant in his arms and was there
- 12:02with a another one of the cousins and that he was in no
- 12:06way harming or molesting the the young girl.
- 12:09In fact, that it was a misunderstanding and that's her
- 12:12explanation of what took place. Now, this is a different story
- 12:16from what Jonathan and Susie are saying.
- 12:18So let's go now to what Jonathan and Susie have to say about what
- 12:22happened at the beach house. When I walked up there and I saw
- 12:26Pete up there with my daughter, I was horrified.
- 12:30The first thing I started doing was screaming.
- 12:32What are you doing? Like obviously, since he his
- 12:37hands weren't on my daughter, he wasn't in the act, He was just
- 12:41in the room with her. I wasn't at that time about to
- 12:46like put hands on him or beat him up.
- 12:48But obviously I was horrified and I was just shouting him
- 12:51down. And that led to him multiple
- 12:54times, probably 50 times saying, Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry,
- 12:58I'm so sorry. So again, it felt like I caught
- 13:02him red handed and doing something that he shouldn't have
- 13:04done. And as evidenced by the fact
- 13:06that Susie saw him follow up my daughter after she had told her
- 13:13to change it to her swimsuit. Well.
- 13:15So there's intent. Well, I'll add this to complete
- 13:20your answer first. If that man's hands were on our
- 13:23child's body, that man would have been leaving that house in
- 13:26handcuffs. The police would have been
- 13:27called when I saw Jonathan, because Jonathan and this man,
- 13:32they came down the stairs from my children's room.
- 13:34I guess Jonathan made him come downstairs.
- 13:36When I saw Jonathan, we've been married at that point.
- 13:40How many years? 10 years, 10 years.
- 13:41I had never in my 10 years ever seen Jonathan look like this.
- 13:45It was honestly terrifying. His eyes were bloody red.
- 13:48His face was blood red. He was screaming so
- 13:51aggressively. And that man who is, you know,
- 13:55taller than Jonathan and and much more smooth.
- 13:58He was shaking like a leaf. Part of my anger, which I've
- 14:03expressed to other journalists, is that that man was so
- 14:06vulnerable. I felt like he was.
- 14:08On the verge of confessing. If he had not been protected, he
- 14:12couldn't speak up for himself. I I'm going to leave that there.
- 14:15It seemed that way to me, that's how.
- 14:17It all right so we can pause it here.
- 14:19They go on to obviously continue to share their side of the story
- 14:22but if you go back now to Jonny Lam's clip, she's saying that
- 14:25the circumstances of what happened at this beach house,
- 14:28the date was August 2021. They have different versions of
- 14:32what happened, both Jonny Lam and Jonathan and then Susie.
- 14:36I think we'll probably be hearing from Jonathan.
- 14:38Susie, I'm going to guess in the coming days about a response to
- 14:41what Joni Lamb had to say just yesterday, claiming that there
- 14:44were other people in the room, that the man that was supposedly
- 14:47the molester was holding a baby, his own child, as well as up
- 14:50there with another cousin. Again, it's hard to know because
- 14:52the the story is evolving right now.
- 14:55But here are some other facts that have emerged in the last
- 14:58week to be aware of. So there is also competing
- 15:01accounts of Jonathan's firing from Daystar.
- 15:04So as I said earlier, Jonathan had been working as a host at
- 15:07Daystar. His father passed away, Joni
- 15:10Lam's husband, he was then Co hosting with Joni.
- 15:12She remarries, she gets a new Co host, Doug, her new husband.
- 15:16And now Jonathan ends up getting demoted.
- 15:19And one of the reasons that Jonathan was demoted was because
- 15:22he didn't like Joni's new arrangement with her new husband
- 15:26as as the Co host and didn't want to be reading positive
- 15:29comments on air about this new husband.
- 15:30So let's take a listen to Joni's statement about why her son was
- 15:34fired, and then Jonathan's statement about why he was
- 15:36fired. Let's start with Joni's.
- 15:39Hello everyone, I wanted to take a few minutes today to speak
- 15:43from my heart. To the Daystar.
- 15:45Family and friends. Recently Daystar made the
- 15:49decision to terminate my son Jonathan Lamb's employment.
- 15:53That decision was not taken lightly.
- 15:56It followed a 15 month review of Jonathan's performance and his
- 16:00refusal to take any steps to satisfy a detailed performance
- 16:04improvement plan put in place. He also refused my offer to
- 16:08participate in a formal mediation to resolve grievances
- 16:11in a biblical and professional manner rather than take any
- 16:15steps to improve his performance at Daystar.
- 16:18It seems clear now that Jonathan was focused on fabricating A
- 16:21smear campaign. You see, Jonathan was extremely
- 16:25disappointed that he was not named the future president of
- 16:27Daystar following the death of his father and my husband,
- 16:32Marcus Lamb, despite the fact that Marcus had given a clear
- 16:35directive to the family and to the board that I would succeed
- 16:39him as president. Jonathan's disappointment in not
- 16:42getting his way only deepened when I married Doctor Doug
- 16:46Weiss, who has been such a blessing to me, the rest of my
- 16:49family and Day Star. I can tell you that as a mother,
- 16:53as a grandmother, the situation saddens me deeply and it grieves
- 16:57my heart because I love my family.
- 17:00I love all my children, I love my grandchildren, I love the
- 17:04work we've done together for so many years.
- 17:07And I had hoped that we could have resolved the situation in
- 17:10private, but now Jonathan has given me no choice except to
- 17:15speak out. OK, we can pause and care.
- 17:17And she's referring to the Roy's report that came out, the
- 17:20investigative report saying that she was covering up abuse and
- 17:25also weaponizing that against Jonathan.
- 17:27Let's listen to Jonathan's explanation here about why he
- 17:30was fired from Daystar, and then we'll unpack more of these abuse
- 17:35allegations. But we've given over all of our
- 17:38evidence over to multiple reporters, including the Police
- 17:41Department. Daystar was contacted for a
- 17:43comment by the journalist Friday, November 15th.
- 17:46And then I was subsequently fired the following day,
- 17:49November 16th. Some scary things happened,
- 17:52being followed, private investigators, intimidation,
- 17:56threats. Even through all of that, things
- 17:59don't stop. So we started.
- 18:00We felt like we had no other option but to reach out to a
- 18:03journalist. When you bring things to the
- 18:05light, things you know, get better.
- 18:07So. That's what we did.
- 18:08Absolutely, and you know I really thought from the Lord
- 18:11that even though a lot of wrong had been done to me, that I was
- 18:14to stand firm in the position that God had called me to and to
- 18:18not walk away. Right now Susie and I are at a
- 18:20undisclosed location because we simply do not feel safe at our
- 18:23home. Now please know that not only
- 18:26has Julie Royce been given all of the evidence and is writing a
- 18:29story that will be out soon, multiple national reporters have
- 18:33been given all of the evidence as of this afternoon.
- 18:36Should be reporting some stories that will be out in the news
- 18:39very shortly. We can posit here.
- 18:42So they're saying there's more that's going to come.
- 18:44And again, my, my goal with this report right now on what is
- 18:49happening in the scandal brewing at Daystar is not necessarily to
- 18:52say we know what happened because there's a lot of
- 18:54allegations, there's investigation that's ongoing,
- 18:57but to follow the story because I do think it matters.
- 19:00This is again, one of the largest religious broadcasting
- 19:02networks in the world. These are the top talent, the
- 19:03top leadership and sexual abuse cover up sexual abuse is
- 19:06horrific and it matters. This is something that is
- 19:08plagued parts of the Catholic Church.
- 19:10It is plagued parts of the Protestant evangelical world.
- 19:12It plagues our public and private school system in many
- 19:15ways right now. This matters how we treat
- 19:18children and how we deal with the failure to treat children
- 19:21properly. Whether we hold people
- 19:22accountable or we cover it up, these things all matter.
- 19:26Here's the timeline as far as I know it from Julie Royce's
- 19:29investigative report, as well as some of the statements made from
- 19:32Joni Lamb and Daystar. And I think this is really where
- 19:36some of the details are still emerging.
- 19:37But some of the disagreements appear to be had between
- 19:41Daystar, Joni Lamb and Susie and Jonathan Lamb.
- 19:43So according to Susie and according to things that Susie
- 19:47and her husband have said, Jonathan have said in 2020, Pete
- 19:53again, this is the pseudonym that's being used for this
- 19:56family member and employee of Daystar who is being accused of
- 19:59abusing the daughter of Jonathan and Susie.
- 20:02Pete claimed that he told this the parents of this young girl
- 20:06that she had walked in on him in the bathroom.
- 20:08So that already kind of flagged something for the mother at the
- 20:11point because it's a little bit weird, OK, My daughter saw this
- 20:13grown man who was undressed. This is a.
- 20:15Again, Susie's recounting. Then just a few months later,
- 20:19the young girl reports to her mother.
- 20:21And again, just a a very young girl reports to her mother
- 20:25effectively that she's being molested.
- 20:27And so the mother shares that at that point, she immediately
- 20:29thought it was the school. She didn't have a reason to
- 20:31think it was the family or or anyone at Daystar.
- 20:34And so she immediately tries to go to the preschool, figure out
- 20:36what's going on after that. There are other concerning
- 20:39episodes that Susie reports about the daughter not feeling
- 20:41safe at going to Daystar. She would always take her
- 20:43children to the green room. They would be around the family
- 20:45and and suddenly this child became very terrified of Daystar
- 20:48according to Susie. Susie also goes on to share that
- 20:52when this Pete, Pete supposedly again the pseudonym was with her
- 20:56children in the Daystar's green room.
- 20:57He had a lot of access to the children.
- 20:59So this is Susie starting to put two and two together in her
- 21:02words. And apparently Susie says that
- 21:05she started to find Pete creepy because he had a lot of access
- 21:08to the children. He would want to be around the
- 21:10children a lot. And this concerted to concern
- 21:12Susie later on, she says. Susie says that the brother and
- 21:18sister-in-law of of Jonathan and her sister-in-law and her be her
- 21:23brother-in-law warned them. She uses the words Jonathan and
- 21:27her says that they were warned about Pete.
- 21:29Pete claimed they claimed that they saw Pete inappropriately
- 21:34being affectionate with a child, being overly affectionate with a
- 21:37child. And then later on, Susie says
- 21:39that Pete and his wife had their young daughter and her brother,
- 21:44their two young children for a sleepover over at the house.
- 21:47She says after that sleepover, her daughter's behavior
- 21:49dramatically changed. So this was Susie's timeline.
- 21:53And then the beach house incident happens in August of
- 21:562021. And at that point, the family is
- 22:00alerted. Jonathan and Susie go to Joni
- 22:03Lamb and her husband Marcus at the time and say we believe Pete
- 22:06is harming our child. And Joni, as the head of Daystar
- 22:10and the head of the family, along with Marcus, say that they
- 22:13the heads, I mean, she wasn't the president, her husband was
- 22:15at the time. So that they will do a forensic
- 22:17physic investigation to determine if Pete is an abuser
- 22:20because these are very serious allegations.
- 22:22And then they tell Susie and Jonathan a few months later that
- 22:27they have already completed the investigation and they have
- 22:30discovered that Pete is innocent.
- 22:32And at this point, Susie and Jonathan take them at their
- 22:35word. And still to keep the daughter
- 22:38away from Daystar, they get it at home, Nanny Susie says.
- 22:41But the next summer they apparently go on another beach
- 22:44visit with the family, including the alleged abuser.
- 22:48I guess they were assuming maybe he's not the abuser.
- 22:51And this is where Joni Lamb in the latest video from last night
- 22:54says, well, they had the they were fine with the children
- 22:57sleeping on bunk beds outside the alleged abusers room.
- 22:59Why would they be fine with that if they really thought he was an
- 23:01abuser? And we have not heard yet from
- 23:04Susie and Jonathan response to that.
- 23:06But my understanding is they thought that the case was closed
- 23:09because Joni and Marcus had hired A forensic investigator to
- 23:12determine whether or not Pete was actually an abuser.
- 23:15Now, the part that is at the the core of this that I haven't
- 23:18shared yet is is this according to the Roy's report, Julie Roy's
- 23:22this forensic investigation that Daystar supposedly conducted
- 23:26that Joni and Marcus Lamb conducted didn't actually get
- 23:29completed. And one of the core people at
- 23:32the heart of that investigation who was supposed to be doing
- 23:34some of the interviews with Pete never actually completed those
- 23:37interviews. Nonetheless, Marcus went to
- 23:39Jonathan and Susie and, and, and Joni allegedly and said this is
- 23:42completed and Pete is innocent. And so that is one of the
- 23:45reasons that Susie and and Jonathan is saying we stayed
- 23:49around, we continue to socialize to some degree with the family,
- 23:52but because we thought that he was cleared via this
- 23:55investigation. Now I'm sure you guys are
- 23:57listening to this and you have a ton of questions yourself and a
- 23:59lot of concerns. There's one other core thing I
- 24:01want to mention, which is that there is a audio recording right
- 24:05now online has hundreds of thousands of views of a
- 24:08conversation that Joni Lamb is having with her son Jonathan and
- 24:13her daughter-in-law, Susie, about their supposed performance
- 24:16and their disagreements at Daystar.
- 24:18And as part of the conversation, they had this third party there
- 24:21who's kind of supposed to be a mediator.
- 24:23And a lot of people who have listened to this conversation
- 24:26are saying, well, this sounds like spiritual abuse.
- 24:27This sounds like bullying. We're not going to listen to the
- 24:30whole conversation. It's pretty long.
- 24:31I think it's an hour and a half on the show today.
- 24:33But I did want to share a couple observations about that
- 24:36conversation because I think it provides a little bit of the
- 24:38psychological insight of what I think might be going on here.
- 24:42I think in the in this tape, you hear Joni saying you're being
- 24:45insubordinate basically to her son.
- 24:47You need to read this comment on air that's positive about Doug.
- 24:50Why aren't you doing this? Why are you so disgruntled?
- 24:52And they're not talking about sexual abuse at all in this
- 24:54conversation. They're just talking about
- 24:56Jonathan not wanting to read positive comments on air about
- 24:59his stepdad and Joni saying, well, that's your job, in part
- 25:03as a host. If you don't like that job, then
- 25:04you can quit. And on its face, if this was any
- 25:07other job, not a ministry, not family working together, you can
- 25:09kind of see the employer's point of view of, yeah, if you're not
- 25:12doing what your job is, whether it's reading viewer comments or
- 25:15not, then why are you still at your job?
- 25:17Why are you still here? If you don't like your job, you
- 25:19should just quit. But of course, with all these
- 25:22dynamics of this being their stepdad that they are now
- 25:25disapproving of apparently Jonathan being upset that he
- 25:28hasn't assumed the presidency and instead his mother has with
- 25:32his father's passing. And then under the under, you
- 25:36know, below ground, not on the conversation.
- 25:38All of this about sexual abuse allegations, I can understand
- 25:41why really anything that Joni might say in this conversation
- 25:45that is in disagreement with Jonathan would be seen by your
- 25:49average person listening as problematic because of the
- 25:53bigger story that is underpinning this whole
- 25:55conversation. Of course, we're going to wait
- 25:58to hear more about what happens. Apparently the police
- 26:01investigation has been reopened now at Jonathan and Susie's
- 26:04request into Pete. So we do not have the results of
- 26:08that. There will be, I'm sure, more
- 26:10responses coming out from Susie and Jonathan, and there will
- 26:15probably be more statements coming out from Joni and Daystar
- 26:18in the aftermath. Susie and Jonathan are saying
- 26:20that they're being followed, that they're, you know,
- 26:23concerned of their own physical safety, that a man and an armed
- 26:26agent with a bulletproof vest came to their door to deliver
- 26:29the firing news to Jonathan. Of course, this was after
- 26:32Jonathan had leaked secretly recorded conversations to the
- 26:37Press of his mother. So she responds by firing him.
- 26:41All of this, again, horrible, sad, tragic family feuding, but
- 26:44we will see what happens. Here's my bottom line on all of
- 26:47this. I think it is always good to
- 26:49expose abuse. I think abuse, sexual abuse,
- 26:54especially of minors, is something that is far too
- 26:56frequent in our society. And far too I think there's
- 27:02there's, there needs to be much more accountability.
- 27:04There is an incredible amount of abuse that goes uncovered of
- 27:09abuse that is not abusers that are not held accountable.
- 27:13People that are abusers often get sentences I think are way
- 27:16too short. All of this is a state of
- 27:18American Society and in religious institutions in
- 27:21particular, and this is so tragic.
- 27:23You guys know I'm a passionate Catholic and religious
- 27:25institutions in particular because they're made-up of mere
- 27:28mortals. There can be this desire to
- 27:31protect power to protect reputation in the name of the
- 27:35Ministry and in in doing so to cover up the sexual abuse or the
- 27:40abuse otherwise abuse of those that are innocent and and those
- 27:43that are vulnerable. And that is why it is so
- 27:45important in my view to expose this so well.
- 27:49I can't make a judgement on this case.
- 27:52We are still getting information.
- 27:53And I will say, I think if there is sexual abuse here, it is good
- 27:57that it is being exposed. And if there was a cover up of
- 27:59sexual abuse here, it is absolutely good that that is
- 28:03being exposed and the truth as it always does, will eventually
- 28:08come out. So I'm eager to hear your
- 28:10thoughts of the chat is going here.
- 28:11I'm going to take a look at what folks are saying because I know
- 28:13a lot of people are following this right now.
- 28:16Someone is saying why not wait till we know more before we
- 28:18speak. I am sharing what we do know.
- 28:20I agree we can't make judgements at this time because there is a
- 28:23lot of question marks. But I think it is important to
- 28:26follow the story. Someone else gay is saying the
- 28:29Gay Royale is saying the entire story seems to have a lot of
- 28:32tentacles. I have a feeling there's a lot
- 28:33more is going to come out. I agree.
- 28:35And different family members on both sides from what I
- 28:37understand are saying on social media more will come out.
- 28:39So again, it is not. I think it's the time to make a
- 28:42judgement, except to say, let's look at the evidence that
- 28:45continues to come out. Nubin says you submit or you
- 28:48leave. I think Newbin is referring to
- 28:51the secretly recorded audio that Jonathan recorded of his mother
- 28:54in this business meeting. And the mother is saying, if you
- 28:57don't submit to my leadership in this company, in this nonprofit,
- 29:00in this ministry, then you need to leave.
- 29:02And there's some truth to that. But of course, what's the
- 29:04context, right? Was she just in her behavior?
- 29:07Was she just in what she was doing or was she being unjust?
- 29:10Was she being deceptive? Again, these are all the
- 29:11questions that are flying around right now.
- 29:15Another comment here is who does this to their son and his
- 29:17family. I agree if if sexual abuse was
- 29:19covered up and if the investigation that they claimed
- 29:22was complete actually wasn't and they knew that to exonerate this
- 29:25so-called family member Pete. Absolutely horrible.
- 29:28All right, before we go down into more of your comments here
- 29:30and share some final thoughts, let's say a big thank you to our
- 29:33sponsor 7 Weeks Coffee. Seven Weeks Coffee is America's

- 30:27code Lila for up to 25% off your order.
- 30:31Recorded meetings are all that I needed to hear.
- 30:33This is from a Macau. Regardless of what the police
- 30:36uncover regarding the abuse, the alleged abuse, it's clear that
- 30:39this woman, I think he's referring to Joni here.
- 30:42They're referring to Joni is not who she appears to be.
- 30:45And you know, there was another comment made from Joni Lamb last
- 30:48night on her YouTube video saying that she does not regret
- 30:51anything that she said in the recorded conversation, the
- 30:54conversation that was secretly recorded by her son Jonathan
- 30:56from their business meeting and that she stands by what she
- 30:58said. And again, this is all public.
- 31:00Anybody can listen to this content.
- 31:02And of course, you can see both sides of the stories that are
- 31:05emerging here. But as I said earlier, I do
- 31:08think it is important to talk about this.
- 31:10I think it's uncomfortable to talk about sexual abuse and
- 31:13sexual abuse cover up, especially in ministries and the
- 31:16church, but I think it is very important and I'm going to be
- 31:19following the story and reporting on it as the days go
- 31:22by. I want to say one other thing
- 31:24before we close out here. Shelley, Shelley Terry saying
- 31:28boycott day star, don't give to them.
- 31:30That may end up being the right action.
- 31:31Again, I think more information is emerging and we need to be
- 31:34looking at the facts as as they emerge.
- 31:36But yeah, this is all very, very troubling.
- 31:39That is that is coming out. All of this information is very,
- 31:42very troubling. But I want to say one last thing
- 31:44here. And this is connected to what I
- 31:46was saying at the beginning, but I think that anytime there is a
- 31:51dynamic of power where there is somebody that has the power to
- 31:54cover up abuse, commit abuse, basically, you know, fire or
- 31:59hire people, that they have that position of authority and they
- 32:03have the power to do good or bad things.
- 32:05It is important for there to be accountability.
- 32:07It is important for there to be high standards.
- 32:10And I do want to connect this back to our larger cultural
- 32:13moment right now that we are in because we did a live last week,
- 32:16as you guys know, talking about some of Trump's appointments for
- 32:20his cabinet and some of the appointments for his
- 32:22administration. And I do think that it's
- 32:26connected both the political world to the ministry world to
- 32:28the business world. All of this is connected that it
- 32:31is important for us to hold our leaders to a high standard, that
- 32:34it is important that if someone has a position of leadership and
- 32:37authority, that they are above reproach in what they do
- 32:40publicly and privately. And that's where I do have
- 32:43respect, even though I understand sometimes people have
- 32:46chips on their shoulders or maybe they just hate authority.
- 32:49But I do have respect for the investigative journalists who
- 32:51are going out there and exposing terrible abuses often.
- 32:55And that all being said, it is important to acknowledge that
- 32:59sometimes allegations of abuse are made when against somebody
- 33:02who was innocent. Sometimes somebody is accused of
- 33:06horrible, heinous things and they didn't commit those things.
- 33:09And there can be a campaign against them because of jealousy
- 33:12or because of the hatred for what they stand for, any other
- 33:15number of reasons to try to take them down.
- 33:18And so the big question with what's unfolding right now with
- 33:20Daystar is, which is it, right? Is this a campaign because
- 33:23Jonathan is mad that he didn't get the job and now he is
- 33:26bringing up this allegation and he's, you know, attacking the
- 33:30network because of that and his mother.
- 33:32Or is this that, yes, his precious daughter, human being
- 33:36and a child that deserves protection didn't get the
- 33:38protection that she deserved. And it was covered up by the
- 33:41people who should have protected her, who then weaponized it in
- 33:44the end against the people that they should have cared for their
- 33:47own family. And we're going to keep
- 33:49following this. But there's also the, the, the
- 33:52final thing here is those two things could be happening.
- 33:55We're not sure which. And there also is the third, the
- 33:57third thing, which is there could be pieces of both.
- 34:00It could be the case that there was abuse, as has been alleged,
- 34:04that there was abuse cover up that has been alleged.
- 34:06Maybe that wasn't outed when it should have been by Susie and
- 34:11Pete, we or Susie and Jonathan, we don't know, because they
- 34:14wanted to keep their jobs. And then later on they ended up,
- 34:17you know, losing their jobs because they were defiant
- 34:20against a star leadership about something else entirely.
- 34:23We don't know. So I'm going to keep following
- 34:25the story. Let's close with a call to pray
- 34:30for everybody involved in this story.
- 34:33Let's pray for Jonathan and for his wife Susie and their kids
- 34:37for protection on them. Let's pray for Joni and Daystar
- 34:40and for God's justice to be done and for God's will to be done.
- 34:45And let's also just move with humility because anybody in a
- 34:49position of leadership, I think there's a lot of responsibility
- 34:52that they care that they carry. So we need to pray for leaders
- 34:56and we also need to pray for justice for those that are weak
- 35:00and be advocates for justice for those that are weak.
- 35:03All right, thank you guys so much for listening to this
- 35:05episode of the Lila Rose Podcast this live.
- 35:07We'll continue to follow this story and I look forward to
- 35:11getting your thoughts. So feel free to leave a comment
- 35:14here. Let me know what else you think
- 35:16I should be covering too. On the lives, we're going to
- 35:18continue to follow this one on Daystar as well as the Supreme
- 35:20Court case, and we will see you guys all next time.
