  We've been working through 2 Peter chapter 1.

  We've gone as far as verse 8. And then Peter's

  going to throw in just a little bit of a downside,

  if you will. It says in verse 9, remember in

  verse 8, there were steps or additions that should

  be taking place in our life. traits. That goes

  all the way back to verse 5, and now in verse

  8, he said that those traits being added to our
• 0:23
  lives will keep us from being ineffective and
• 0:25
  unproductive in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus
• 0:28
  Christ. And now in verse 9, he says, but, it's

  a but, whoever does not have them, whoever does
• 0:34
  not have those traits that we went through in
• 0:36
  the previous verses, is nearsighted, meaning
• 0:39
  you can't see far, and blind, so you can't see
• 0:42
  in detail, you can't see correctly, forgetting,
• 0:46
  that they have been cleansed from their past
• 0:47
  sins. We have been cleansed if we know Jesus
• 0:50
  Christ as Lord. The Lord is the person who tells
• 0:52
  us what to do, and we do it. And Savior means
• 0:54
  the person who paid the price for our sins. We
• 0:56
  have been cleansed of our past sins. Having been
• 1:00
  cleansed of our past sins, we can't own them
• 1:02
  anymore. We can't continue in them now. We have
• 1:05
  to let them go. And as we progressively let go
• 1:08
  anything, anything that we are that is not God
• 1:11
  -honoring, anything that we do that is not God
• 1:13
  -honoring, we will... not be nearsighted or blind,
• 1:16
  but rather be able to see what God is up to,
• 1:18
  see what he's about, see what he's attempting
• 1:20
  to do, and we can be part of it. I would encourage
• 1:23
  you today to realize that there are those who
• 1:25
  are still nearsighted, even people who claim
• 1:27
  the name of Christ. They're nearsighted and blind,
• 1:29
  forgetting that they have been cleansed from
• 1:30
  their past sins and dwelling instead in kind
• 1:33
  of the ways of the world and not adding onto
• 1:36
  their faith the things that we talked about previously.
