- 0:00Speaker 1: If people aren't coming to work, if they're not going
- 0:03Speaker 1: to come into the office and report, then they're going
- 0:05Speaker 1: to be terminated.
- 0:06Speaker 2: You're not concerned though that if there could be shortages that.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Keep, they'll be replaced with very competent people. We have
- 0:12Speaker 1: a lot of competent people in this country.
- 0:15Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:18Speaker 4: Good Monday morning. It's Ben Ferguson. Nice to have you
- 0:21Speaker 4: with us, and here are the big stories we're covering
- 0:23Speaker 4: today on the forty seven Morning Update. First up, congratulations,
- 0:26Speaker 4: your government's getting smallers. The Trump administration has begun mass
- 0:30Speaker 4: layoffs across multiple federal agencies. How much money is it
- 0:33Speaker 4: going to save you as a taxpayer. I'll have some
- 0:35Speaker 4: of those figures for you coming up. Also, Donald Trump
- 0:38Speaker 4: paying off on a massive promise from the campaign, putting
- 0:41Speaker 4: the US on track to have the lowest monthly border
- 0:44Speaker 4: crossings and more than a quarter of a century. And finally,
- 0:48Speaker 4: Donald Trump moves even closer to ending the war between
- 0:50Speaker 4: Russia and Ukraine. And there's a very good chance to'll
- 0:53Speaker 4: be meeting face to face with Vladimir Putin in the
- 0:55Speaker 4: coming days. It's the forty seven Morning Update, and it
- 0:58Speaker 4: starts right now.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Congratulations, your government just got smaller. The Trump administration has
- 1:05Speaker 4: begun mass layoffs of federal workers, and the left is
- 1:08Speaker 4: losing their mind because of a payoff. Donald Trump said
- 1:11Speaker 4: that our government was way too bloated, and he's now
- 1:14Speaker 4: proving his point. The administration beginning the mass layoffs across
- 1:17Speaker 4: multiple federal agencies, a move that is expected to effect
- 1:21Speaker 4: thousands and thousands of employees across the federal government.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:25Speaker 4: The firings initially affected probationary employees, recent hires who joined
- 1:30Speaker 4: the federal workforce within the last one to two years,
- 1:34Speaker 4: depending on the agency, which has fewer protections for those workers. Now,
- 1:38Speaker 4: among the agencies experiencing layoffs are the Department of Education,
- 1:42Speaker 4: the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, the Office of Personnel Management,
- 1:47Speaker 4: the Environmental Protection Agency, the General Services Administration, and the
- 1:51Speaker 4: Small Business Administration. This is just the beginning.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Of course, the left is freaking out, saying that people
- 1:58Speaker 4: are going to die if Donald tr Trump continues this
- 2:01Speaker 4: way of doing business. They're now using the tragedy of
- 2:04Speaker 4: the plane crash at Reagan National Airport as their springboard
- 2:08Speaker 4: to fear monger Americans into believing that Donald Trump should
- 2:11Speaker 4: fire no one. Take a listen to this from the
- 2:14Speaker 4: Oval Office.
- 2:15Speaker 2: You've offered over two million federal workers the option to
- 2:18Speaker 2: resign immediately.
- 2:19Speaker 1: There are fifty thousand FAA employees.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Does this tragedy give you reason to reconsider that option
- 2:26Speaker 5: of resignations because of concerns about staffing? Iss you in safety.
- 2:30Speaker 1: If people aren't coming to work, if they're not going
- 2:32Speaker 1: to come into the office and report as for the
- 2:34Speaker 1: date that you know what it is, everybody knows what
- 2:37Speaker 1: the data is, it's been very well documented, then they're
- 2:39Speaker 1: going to be terminated.
- 2:41Speaker 2: You're not concerned though that if many people take that offer,
- 2:45Speaker 2: there could be shortages that could be.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Too so they'll be replaced with very competent people. We
- 2:49Speaker 1: have a lot of competent people in this country.
- 2:51Speaker 4: There's one thing you can bet on it is that
- 2:53Speaker 4: the media is never going to let a tragedy go
- 2:55Speaker 4: to waste, including a plane crash, where they're going to
- 2:58Speaker 4: then try to politicize it to attack President Trump. I
- 3:01Speaker 4: love the way that he handled this saying if people
- 3:03Speaker 4: aren't going to come to work, then they're going to
- 3:04Speaker 4: be terminated and they'll be replaced with competent people. Now,
- 3:07Speaker 4: why is the president doing this right now? Well, the
- 3:10Speaker 4: Trump Administration's initiative is clear. They say it's to reduce
- 3:14Speaker 4: the federal workforce through mass layoffs and restructuring, aimed to
- 3:18Speaker 4: enhance government efficiency and reduce spending significantly. They say by
- 3:23Speaker 4: streamlining operations and focusing on essential positions, the administration anticipates
- 3:28Speaker 4: significant cost savings for tax payers. Now, the deferred Resignation
- 3:33Speaker 4: program offers employees eight months of pay and benefits upon resignation,
- 3:38Speaker 4: providing financial support during their transition. This approach is expected
- 3:42Speaker 4: to foster a more performance driven workforce, something the government
- 3:46Speaker 4: knows nothing about, as well as a culture aligning with
- 3:49Speaker 4: the administration's goals of modernizing our federal operations. At the
- 3:53Speaker 4: end of the day, this is also about saving taxpayers
- 3:56Speaker 4: a significant amount of cash.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:59Speaker 4: DOJE also came out this last week giving an update
- 4:02Speaker 4: on just how much money they are saving Americans. Here
- 4:05Speaker 4: is a list that Donald Trump tweeted out telling you
- 4:07Speaker 4: where your money was going to be spent, but they
- 4:09Speaker 4: stopped it before it could happen. Ten million dollars for
- 4:13Speaker 4: Mozambique voluntary medical mail Circumcision. Nine point seven million for
- 4:18Speaker 4: the US Berkeley to develop a cohort of Cambodian youth
- 4:22Speaker 4: within enterprise driven skills. Two point three million for strengthening
- 4:26Speaker 4: independent voices in Cambodia, thirty two million for the Prague
- 4:30Speaker 4: Civil Society Center, forty million for Gender Equality and Women
- 4:34Speaker 4: Empowerment Hub, fourteen million for improving public procurement in Serbia.
- 4:39Speaker 4: How about four hundred and eighty six million to the
- 4:42Speaker 4: Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening, including twenty two
- 4:48Speaker 4: million for quote inclusive and participationary political process in Moldova
- 4:54Speaker 4: and twenty one million for voter turnout in India. Yeah,
- 4:57Speaker 4: none of that in America. Twenty nine million strengthening political
- 5:01Speaker 4: landscape in Bangladesh, twenty million for fiscal federalism in Nepal,
- 5:07Speaker 4: nineteen million for biodiversity conservation in Nepal, one point five
- 5:11Speaker 4: million for voter confidence in Liberia, fourteen million for social
- 5:16Speaker 4: cohesion and Mali. Two point five million for inclusive democracies
- 5:21Speaker 4: in South Africa, forty seven million for improving learning outcomes
- 5:26Speaker 4: in Asia, and two million to develop sustainable recycling models
- 5:30Speaker 4: to increase socioeconomic cohesion among marginalized communities in Kosovo, Roma
- 5:37Speaker 4: and Egypt. These are just some of the things that
- 5:40Speaker 4: DOGE uncovered in the last five days that have all
- 5:43Speaker 4: been cut by Donald Trump and the federal government. So
- 5:46Speaker 4: not only are we getting rid of employees, we're also
- 5:48Speaker 4: getting rid of government waste.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Now story number two.
- 5:51Speaker 4: When it comes to border security, it's very clear right
- 5:54Speaker 4: now there are two Americas. The border is being secured
- 5:57Speaker 4: before our very eyes and democratic duryas dictions are now
- 6:00Speaker 4: turning a blind eye to illegal aliens and their activity.
- 6:05Speaker 4: The good news is the Trump administration is still willing
- 6:08Speaker 4: to go and get the illegal immigrants, even in sanctuary cities,
- 6:12Speaker 4: and they're even willing to use the law to go
- 6:14Speaker 4: after those that are protecting illegal immigrants. We also now
- 6:18Speaker 4: have a major update about just how tight the border
- 6:21Speaker 4: has become. In less than a month since Trump got
- 6:24Speaker 4: into the Oval office, illegal border crossings have already hit
- 6:28Speaker 4: a record low after Trump's swift crackdown, and could be
- 6:33Speaker 4: on track for levels not seen in sixty years. So
- 6:36Speaker 4: far in February, about three hundred and fifty nine illegal
- 6:40Speaker 4: migrants per day have been caught across the entire southern border.
- 6:44Speaker 4: That is down more than ninety percent from February of
- 6:48Speaker 4: last year, with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had their
- 6:51Speaker 4: open border policy on full display. That puts the US
- 6:55Speaker 4: on track to have the lowest monthly border crossings in
- 6:59Speaker 4: at least a quarter of a century if the trend continues.
- 7:02Speaker 4: The number of illegal migrants coming into the US had
- 7:05Speaker 4: had a level not seen since nineteen sixty eight, nearly
- 7:09Speaker 4: sixty years ago. What's even more interesting than that is
- 7:12Speaker 4: how Democrats are doing everything in their power to attack
- 7:16Speaker 4: Donald Trump and the borders are Tom Homan. Tom went
- 7:20Speaker 4: on Fox and Friends and had this to say about
- 7:23Speaker 4: the President's leadership and what it means for the people
- 7:27Speaker 4: in America.
- 7:28Speaker 5: President's doing a great job. And I want to say this. Look,
- 7:31Speaker 5: I worked for six presidents. I think President Trump's the
- 7:33Speaker 5: greatest president in my lifetime. He proves it every day.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Every day he proves to me why he is the
- 7:38Speaker 5: greatest president in my lifetime. Border numbers are down over
- 7:41Speaker 5: ninety percent in three weeks. Think about that. You know,
- 7:44Speaker 5: I worked tired of it. You know, Christinolan's working hard
- 7:46Speaker 5: at it. You know, the border, the chief of Trolley's
- 7:49Speaker 5: working hard at what it was it was President Trump's
- 7:51Speaker 5: executive orders that was a game changer, right, And we
- 7:54Speaker 5: already got over fIF six almost sixteen thousand people we
- 7:57Speaker 5: rest in the interior. That's three times more than Joe
- 7:59Speaker 5: Biden had year from now. But it's not enough. We
- 8:01Speaker 5: got to do more. But President thumps leadership. When you
- 8:04Speaker 5: when you get ninety percent less people coming across the border,
- 8:07Speaker 5: how many women aren't being raped by the cartels, how
- 8:09Speaker 5: many children aren't drawing? How many how many women and
- 8:11Speaker 5: children aren't being sex tracked in this country. President Trump's
- 8:13Speaker 5: a game changer. And every day I'll say, I'll say
- 8:16Speaker 5: one hundred times every day he proves to me why he's.
- 8:18Speaker 4: The greatest president in my lifetime, with you, why he's
- 8:20Speaker 4: the greatest president of my lifetime. Border numbers are down
- 8:24Speaker 4: over ninety percent in three weeks. It is incredible when
- 8:27Speaker 4: you hear these numbers come from the borders are now.
- 8:30Speaker 4: To be clear, Democrats are not going down without a fight.
- 8:33Speaker 4: They're doing everything they can to undermine a secure border,
- 8:36Speaker 4: and they're doing everything they can to protect illegal immigrants.
- 8:39Speaker 4: The Mallusion at Fox said this about what some Democrats
- 8:42Speaker 4: are doing.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Well, Dan, it's hard to believe there are any jurisdictions
- 8:45Speaker 2: out there that wouldn't cooperate with ICE when it comes
- 8:47Speaker 2: to illegal aliens charged with forcibly raping children, But in
- 8:51Speaker 2: Massachusetts it's just routine. Take a look at this case.
- 8:54Speaker 2: ICE Boston just announcing they arrested this squadmal in illegal
- 8:57Speaker 2: alien charge in Massachusetts with three acounts of aggravated child
- 9:01Speaker 2: rape in three counts of forcible rape of a child.
- 9:04Speaker 2: So the question is why was he on the streets
- 9:06Speaker 2: right well, I says their detainer request on him was
- 9:08Speaker 2: ignored by the Essex County Superior Court due to sanctuary policy.
- 9:13Speaker 2: The locals released him in the community on bail without
- 9:16Speaker 2: any notice to ICE. In a statement, the director of
- 9:19Speaker 2: ICE Boston says, in part quote, Jose Fernando Perez has
- 9:22Speaker 2: been charged with some horrific rhymes against a minor in
- 9:24Speaker 2: our commonwealth. He is exactly the type of alien we
- 9:27Speaker 2: are targeting with our worst first policy. He posts a
- 9:30Speaker 2: significant danger to the children of Massachusetts and we will
- 9:33Speaker 2: not tolerate such a threat to our community. ICE Boston
- 9:36Speaker 2: also announcing the arrest of this Turkish illegal alien charged
- 9:39Speaker 2: in Massachusetts with a Sultan battery against an intellectually disabled
- 9:43Speaker 2: person and witness intimidation. But I says their detainer on
- 9:47Speaker 2: him was also ignored by the sanctuary city of Somerville.
- 9:51Speaker 2: He had also been released into the public elsewhere around
- 9:54Speaker 2: the US. ICE Seattle arrested this Salvadoran illegal alien wanted
- 9:58Speaker 2: in his home country for aggravated hamas. Here in Los Angeles,
- 10:02Speaker 2: ICE arrested this Guatemalan illegal alien charged with sexual assault
- 10:06Speaker 2: and rape with a gun. And in Colorado, the DEA
- 10:09Speaker 2: announced their top ten arrests of illegal immigrants in recent days,
- 10:13Speaker 2: including several affiliated with Trendy Aragua and others with egregious
- 10:16Speaker 2: crimes like kidnapping, child sexual assault, and fentanyl trafficking and Dana.
- 10:21Speaker 2: I was talking to a law enforcement source in Massachusetts
- 10:23Speaker 2: about the child rape case that I referenced, and I asked, like,
- 10:26Speaker 2: there's got to be some sort of a catch here, right,
- 10:28Speaker 2: forget about cooperating with ICE. How does somebody charge with
- 10:31Speaker 2: so many counts of aggravated forcible child rape even get
- 10:34Speaker 2: released on bail in the first place. The response I
- 10:37Speaker 2: got was, quote, welcome to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- 10:40Speaker 4: It is very clear that these liberal states are willing
- 10:42Speaker 4: to put their own citizens and children at risk just
- 10:46Speaker 4: to say no to a secure border, because it's what
- 10:49Speaker 4: Donald Trump and the American people want.
- 10:51Speaker 3: And lastly, story number three.
- 10:53Speaker 4: President Trump made it very clear when he was running
- 10:55Speaker 4: for president that if he was elected, he was going
- 10:58Speaker 4: to end the senseless war between Ussia and Ukraine. Not
- 11:01Speaker 4: only is it counting countless innocent people's lives, but it's
- 11:04Speaker 4: also costing America billions and billions of dollars. There's many
- 11:09Speaker 4: Republican warhawks and Democrats are obsessed with funding this war
- 11:13Speaker 4: and with making sure there's no end in sight. Donald
- 11:16Speaker 4: Trump has other plans promising that he would end it.
- 11:19Speaker 4: And now we have learned as of Sunday that he
- 11:22Speaker 4: could meet quote very soon with Vladimir putin face to face,
- 11:26Speaker 4: adding he believes his Russian counterpart genuinely wants to stop
- 11:30Speaker 4: fighting in Ukraine. Quote no time set, but it could
- 11:34Speaker 4: be very soon, Trump told reporters hours after the Secretary
- 11:37Speaker 4: of State Marco Rubio sought the play down expectations of
- 11:41Speaker 4: upcoming high level talks and ending the war altogether. Now,
- 11:45Speaker 4: with Rubio set to lead this high level American delegation
- 11:48Speaker 4: and the discussions with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia's capital.
- 11:52Speaker 4: In the coming days. A flurry of diplomacy was taking
- 11:55Speaker 4: place as the brutal Ukraine War nears its third anniversary. Trump,
- 12:00Speaker 4: addressing reporters after a flat on Air Force one, said
- 12:03Speaker 4: his team has been speaking long and hard with Russian officials,
- 12:07Speaker 4: including his Middle East envoy, whom the president said met
- 12:10Speaker 4: with Putin for about three hours recently, saying this, I
- 12:14Speaker 4: think he wants to stop fighting, Trump said of Putin,
- 12:17Speaker 4: ask whether he believes Putin wants to seize the entirety
- 12:20Speaker 4: of Ukraine. Trump said that was my question to him.
- 12:24Speaker 4: If he's going to go on, that would have caused
- 12:27Speaker 4: me a big problem. Trump added, I think he wants
- 12:29Speaker 4: to end it, and they want to end it fast,
- 12:31Speaker 4: both of them, he said, adding Zelensky wants to end
- 12:34Speaker 4: it two the Ukrainian president. Zelenski meanwhile said Sunday he
- 12:38Speaker 4: believes Russia's preparing to quote wage war against a week
- 12:42Speaker 4: in NATO, should Trump dilute US support for the alliance.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Trump appeared to dismiss Zelenski's remarks, telling reporters that he
- 12:50Speaker 4: was not even a little bit concerned about the Ukrainian
- 12:53Speaker 4: leader's messaging. President Trump has been very clear and he
- 12:57Speaker 4: has constantly insisted that he would end the Ukrainian in
- 13:00Speaker 4: a single day if you return to the White House,
- 13:03Speaker 4: Rubio stressing yes, he believes this could come to an end.
- 13:06Speaker 4: At the end of the day, it's all about the money,
- 13:08Speaker 4: and Donald Trump is clearly telegraphing to Zolensky and Ukraine
- 13:12Speaker 4: that the money and the arms are going to be
- 13:15Speaker 4: drawing up very soon, so you better get your act together.
