- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's show is pre recorded. Y'all know what time. I
- 0:05Speaker 1: don't know, y'all look back down giving them like the
- 0:15Speaker 1: million buck things in it not good, Steve to the mother,
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't join Jo. You gotta use that turn. You
- 1:24Speaker 1: gotta turn to turn them out, turning, got to turn
- 1:44Speaker 1: them out, then turn the water the water. Come come
- 1:58Speaker 1: on your back. Uh huh, I sure will. A good
- 2:04Speaker 1: morning everybody. You're listening to the voice, Come on dig
- 2:07Speaker 1: me now, one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Well,
- 2:12Speaker 1: nothing changes about that. Nothing changes about that. Man. I
- 2:18Speaker 1: was just so getting ready to come on to air
- 2:21Speaker 1: this morning. I was just thinking, man, I was just
- 2:26Speaker 1: having a reflective moment of just how really good God
- 2:30Speaker 1: has been to me. I just it's it's it's man.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Let me just say that again, how really good God
- 2:39Speaker 1: has been to me. And here's a cold part. In
- 2:44Speaker 1: spite of myself, you understand, in spite of all my shortcomings,
- 2:50Speaker 1: in spite of all of my flaws, and and and
- 2:54Speaker 1: and in spite of all of what anybody has said
- 2:57Speaker 1: about me, God, through his grace and mercy, just keeps
- 3:02Speaker 1: me anyway. So many of us are exceptional people, but
- 3:10Speaker 1: we refuse to just go ahead and be exceptional. We
- 3:16Speaker 1: settle for the ordinary, we follow the pack, we try
- 3:22Speaker 1: to fit in. Man, oh man, oh man. You know
- 3:26Speaker 1: I've heard my wife say this to my children all
- 3:29Speaker 1: the time. When she's scolding talking to him, she'd be
- 3:32Speaker 1: talking to him about leadership. You know, why are you
- 3:35Speaker 1: following everybody? When God clearly made you to lead? So
- 3:38Speaker 1: many of us are born, and so many of you
- 3:41Speaker 1: are born to be exceptional people, but we always trying
- 3:46Speaker 1: to follow the pack. Why would you try to fit in?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Why would you try to be like everybody else be ordinary?
- 3:57Speaker 1: Why would you follow the pack when God created you
- 4:00Speaker 1: to be exceptional? The key word in exceptional is accept you.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Have you ever done this right here? You know everybody
- 4:09Speaker 1: did that accept me. Everybody felt that way except me.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Everybody said that except me. Everybody won't wanted that. Accept me.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Everybody went over that except me. Everybody jumped in accept me,
- 4:29Speaker 1: accept me. See why have you saying that in your life?
- 4:34Speaker 1: If you were not to be exceptional? See you got
- 4:38Speaker 1: to say everybody accept me at one point in You're
- 4:41Speaker 1: to I don't know who ain't done it. You know
- 4:43Speaker 1: everybody wanted everybody voted no, except me see it. So
- 4:49Speaker 1: you're not You're not created to follow the pack. You
- 4:52Speaker 1: ain't created to fit in. You ain't created to, oh,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you know, to be ordinary. You were created to be
- 4:59Speaker 1: accept as exceptional as your fingerprint on your finger is.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You were created to be exceptional. Why not make this
- 5:08Speaker 1: the year that you go ahead on and be exceptional?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Why won't this be the year that you decide in
- 5:16Speaker 1: your mind? But just has to be a decision that
- 5:18Speaker 1: we make. Now we're not following the pack no more.
- 5:22Speaker 1: We're not trying to fit in no more. We ain't
- 5:25Speaker 1: settling for ordinary no more. We're gonna be exceptional. But
- 5:29Speaker 1: you know, you got you got to go ahead and
- 5:31Speaker 1: follow that. You got to get on the exceptional path,
- 5:34Speaker 1: because that's what you were created for. Why be ordinary?
- 5:37Speaker 1: You know? But all of this this comes to it
- 5:40Speaker 1: has to start with a thought. You got to first
- 5:43Speaker 1: think something thought to become things. A man is as
- 5:48Speaker 1: he thinketh that's all you will ever be. So what
- 5:53Speaker 1: are your thoughts today? Why not have exceptional thoughts instead
- 5:56Speaker 1: of ordinary thoughts? Why not have exceptional thoughts instead of
- 6:00Speaker 1: fitting me in thoughts? So? Why you want to be
- 6:03Speaker 1: like everybody else? Why you want to be ordinary when
- 6:06Speaker 1: you could possibly be extraordinary with a change of your mind,
- 6:10Speaker 1: a change of your venue, And you don't have to
- 6:13Speaker 1: be any other kind of way just because my mama
- 6:16Speaker 1: was this way, my daddy was this way, or this
- 6:19Speaker 1: to school? I went to this? What race I belong to?
- 6:22Speaker 1: This is my sexual preference? This is my this? This
- 6:25Speaker 1: is my dad? Why? How many? How many? How many
- 6:27Speaker 1: excuses you need? I'm an excuse? What? What? What? What? You?
- 6:31Speaker 1: What's it gonna be this year that we let another
- 6:35Speaker 1: three hundred and sixty five days slip by without improving
- 6:38Speaker 1: our condition, our place, our spot, our life, the quality
- 6:44Speaker 1: of life we have. We cannot afford to keep letting
- 6:49Speaker 1: all these years go by without changing. You're an exceptional person.
- 6:56Speaker 1: How many times have you set up and said, everybody
- 6:58Speaker 1: did that accept me? You know I was only everybody
- 7:02Speaker 1: jumped in accept me. I told him, I knew it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Everybody voted for that, accept me, And now look at him, man,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it seemed like everybody went that way, accept me. Okay,
- 7:17Speaker 1: do you get it? Do you understand what's being said
- 7:21Speaker 1: to you that don't accept me is because couldn't it be?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Because you're an exceptional person and it's time for you
- 7:29Speaker 1: to take control of that. It's time for you to
- 7:31Speaker 1: start thinking different. It's time for you to start acting
- 7:34Speaker 1: on what you think. It's time for you to start
- 7:37Speaker 1: doing something about it. It's time for you to stop
- 7:40Speaker 1: taking each and every day that God gives us for
- 7:42Speaker 1: granted and letting them go by the wayside. Like you
- 7:45Speaker 1: got plenty more. Well, you may have plenty more, but
- 7:48Speaker 1: guess what what you're wasting the ones you got for
- 7:52Speaker 1: I got you young, and you and you feel like
- 7:55Speaker 1: you're gonna live forever. Dah, okay, cool, But let me
- 7:58Speaker 1: ask you something. See here, here, here, here, go to
- 8:00Speaker 1: part about pose you do live? See see everybody willing
- 8:04Speaker 1: about dying. But I got news for you. Suppose you
- 8:07Speaker 1: keep on living. You want to keep living in the
- 8:09Speaker 1: condition you in now. You want to keep living with
- 8:12Speaker 1: the money you got now. You want to keep living
- 8:14Speaker 1: with the relationship you got now. You want to keep
- 8:17Speaker 1: living by yourself like you are now. You want to
- 8:20Speaker 1: keep wanting the right relationship, the right man, the the
- 8:22Speaker 1: right woman, but you keep getting the wrong one. You
- 8:24Speaker 1: want to keep doing that for the rest of your life.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Problem ain't dying. It's problem is if you keep on
- 8:29Speaker 1: living who wants to keep on living just the way
- 8:32Speaker 1: they are right now. And if you can say I'm
- 8:35Speaker 1: cool what I am, just the way I am right now,
- 8:37Speaker 1: it ain't cool. This conversation ain't for you. I ain't
- 8:40Speaker 1: got no problem with that. You know, you wanna say
- 8:43Speaker 1: greatness ain't for everybody being exceptional, ain't for everybody becoming extraordinary.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It ain't fun everybody. Heck, becoming successful ain't fun everybody.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I got it. And you can come up with a
- 8:56Speaker 1: way to justify your non existence in your ordinary life
- 9:00Speaker 1: all you want, and that's fine and dandy. I ain't
- 9:02Speaker 1: got no problem with it. Because some people just gonna
- 9:05Speaker 1: be regular. Some people just gonna follow the pack, follow
- 9:09Speaker 1: the crowd. Some people just wants to fit in. But
- 9:12Speaker 1: if you're not that person, if you want to be extraordinary,
- 9:16Speaker 1: if you want to be exceptional, if you want to
- 9:19Speaker 1: be if you want to dare to be great at something,
- 9:21Speaker 1: and you got to change your mindset. You got to
- 9:24Speaker 1: get with your creating. Find out what he created you fault.
- 9:27Speaker 1: You gotta quit thinking of things just in your own
- 9:30Speaker 1: thought process, you know, lean not to your own understanding.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I don't know what that is, but it's in there
- 9:35Speaker 1: somewhere seeing. Once you lean, if you lean to your
- 9:39Speaker 1: own understanding, you know what it's gonna do. It's gonna
- 9:41Speaker 1: limit you. Man, it's gonna limit you. Why not see
- 9:44Speaker 1: what God got for you. I would rather know what
- 9:47Speaker 1: God got for me than to think of all the
- 9:49Speaker 1: things I could because I can't out think him out
- 9:52Speaker 1: and tried it before. All right, it's just the beginning.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We're gonna have a good one. Man. Let's go. You're
- 9:57Speaker 1: listening show ladies, gentlemen, hustlers, playoffs, social workers, students, My
- 10:12Speaker 1: dear inmates is locked away, Soldiers, Marines, Navy, Air Force,
- 10:23Speaker 1: first responders, nurses, everybody. We are here, grateful and we
- 10:32Speaker 1: are here. Today is the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Let
- 10:36Speaker 1: it begin. Shirley Strawbacks, Hey, good morning, Steve. How are you?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Sunshine Blue Skies? It's how field today? Carlin for rel
- 10:50Speaker 1: I wish it would rain? All right, what's up, Steve?
- 10:53Speaker 1: What's up? Crowd? What's that? Yeah, that's why I just
- 10:55Speaker 1: stopped at Sunshine Blue sky you know, Yeah, I don't
- 11:00Speaker 1: want to do rain. No read quarantine. Now you came
- 11:04Speaker 1: outside that dog on Junior morning morning. Everybody in the field,
- 11:12Speaker 1: if you Tommy, your stop in the I tell y'all.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Junior came by the other day, six feet y'all six
- 11:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, outside in the back, hung out. Yo.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Ain't let him. You can't come in. I know, I
- 11:35Speaker 1: didn't even look at it done, he said, I'm hearing.
- 11:41Speaker 1: He came out. Jun came around down the side, down
- 11:45Speaker 1: them steps, out to the back steps. I can't talk
- 11:49Speaker 1: to him through the gag, you know. I was making
- 11:52Speaker 1: sure he was seated. Then I came out, took a
- 11:54Speaker 1: seat on the other side. We laughed. Man, we had
- 11:57Speaker 1: a good time. Man. Did y'all wear man? Yeah? Head man? Oh,
- 12:01Speaker 1: y'all smoking? Junior been quarantined. Junior ain't got nothing here,
- 12:06Speaker 1: can't go nowhere. It's been him in the trees, in
- 12:09Speaker 1: this tree. I know who to let in here, and
- 12:11Speaker 1: they ain't nobody coming in. You can come to the house.
- 12:14Speaker 1: You can't come in the house. Oh man, he's the
- 12:18Speaker 1: first black person I've seen in a month. Yeah, yeah,
- 12:25Speaker 1: the first black person I saw in a month. Where good,
- 12:30Speaker 1: You're the first person been in this house. So what
- 12:35Speaker 1: you have fun? Oh you had a great time. Laughed
- 12:39Speaker 1: so hard. That's good. Ain't know the thing? Sure they
- 12:42Speaker 1: call him time, Uncle Steve outside, ain't like regular outside.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Let's oh no, wonderful back y'all. Yeah, close you social distance,
- 12:55Speaker 1: whether you want what you want to a nap. The
- 12:58Speaker 1: furniture is social. This is the layout. That's nice. Yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 1: that's cool. See the weather has been beautiful here. Yeah,
- 13:13Speaker 1: that was exciting than that. So we got well that's okay,
- 13:21Speaker 1: I mean that's good. That's a start. Um all about it?
- 13:27Speaker 1: What the tree coming up with? Thirty two minutes after
- 13:34Speaker 1: the hour, the trending sports news, the Last Dance, Michael
- 13:38Speaker 1: Jordan and the Chicago Bulls documentary. We'll talk about it
- 13:42Speaker 1: right after this. You're listening to. Well here we are
- 13:48Speaker 1: another day. Um wow. Yesterday the Governor of Georgia, Brian
- 13:54Speaker 1: Kemp opened up Georgia started to open it up. On Friday,
- 13:58Speaker 1: it'll start opening up hair salon on barbershops, nail salons,
- 14:03Speaker 1: bowling alleys. I think churches with social distancing, uh, esteticians,
- 14:09Speaker 1: you know, the people who take care of your skin, massages,
- 14:12Speaker 1: people who give it you know. Yeah, and then on Monday,
- 14:20Speaker 1: it'll be restaurants and theaters. So yeah, yeah, yep, yeah,
- 14:28Speaker 1: we're gonna go watch a movie. Tommy, Tommy, Seriously, I
- 14:35Speaker 1: know you're asking a really serious question here, and you
- 14:38Speaker 1: would think that, um, you wouldn't have to ask a
- 14:41Speaker 1: question like that, but in this case you do because
- 14:44Speaker 1: there will be people just like when the Florida governor
- 14:48Speaker 1: opened up the beaches, right Steve, all those people were
- 14:51Speaker 1: out there. You think people aren't going to be going
- 14:54Speaker 1: to the hair force. That's the crazy part, because you
- 14:57Speaker 1: know why people have hair enough of this. I'm tired
- 15:02Speaker 1: of being in this house, and that's what this is.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And and they're trying to do something for the economy
- 15:11Speaker 1: and and but listen to me, here's the problem with it.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I got you tired of being in the house. But
- 15:19Speaker 1: the mayor of Atlanta was on television last night talking
- 15:24Speaker 1: to Or Chris Cromo, and she has a great relationship
- 15:27Speaker 1: with the governor. And Chris Cromo asked her that did
- 15:31Speaker 1: did did the governor confer with her? She said, let
- 15:34Speaker 1: me be clear, the governor does not have to confer
- 15:38Speaker 1: with me about this because he is the governor. But no,
- 15:41Speaker 1: he didn't confer with me. But she's saying, what good
- 15:45Speaker 1: does it do if we get on the other side
- 15:48Speaker 1: of this, and you ain't here. Yeah, there you go.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Because she initially said May thirteenth, I think that she
- 15:56Speaker 1: wanted the city to stay closed. Yea, here's here's here's
- 16:01Speaker 1: what I don't understand. We don't have enough testing, we
- 16:06Speaker 1: don't have testing sites. People who think they haven't have
- 16:10Speaker 1: to stay home, right, you know. I mean this is ridiculous.
- 16:14Speaker 1: If you do have a case of it, you may
- 16:17Speaker 1: not have a bed for you. So I don't understand
- 16:20Speaker 1: the Russia and getting this open. So what I want
- 16:22Speaker 1: to say the Russia's money to our listeners, be smart here, man,
- 16:28Speaker 1: use your god given common sense. Just because they say
- 16:34Speaker 1: you free to go bowling and go to a movie, man,
- 16:37Speaker 1: don't take your ass down now. You don't know who
- 16:41Speaker 1: down there to get your hair done, your nails, and
- 16:45Speaker 1: that's that's not social distancing. And so far that's all
- 16:48Speaker 1: we have that really works. Because you're right, we don't
- 16:52Speaker 1: have a vaccine. They're still working on that. There's not
- 16:55Speaker 1: a cure yet. Tell them, I can't. If you want
- 17:00Speaker 1: your hair and nails done for your funeral, going on
- 17:05Speaker 1: dying didn't get it done. Just going on down didn't
- 17:09Speaker 1: get it done. If that's what you want to give
- 17:10Speaker 1: me everybody can ask it. Come on, you men't even
- 17:14Speaker 1: wear a mask getting your head done. Yeah, but you're
- 17:20Speaker 1: still in very close contact, you know. Yeah, you don't
- 17:24Speaker 1: know who this person is. Yeah, you don't know who
- 17:27Speaker 1: they've been around. You don't know a stylus is, but
- 17:29Speaker 1: you don't know who they've been around other customers. Person.
- 17:33Speaker 1: A person can have the virus and not show any symptoms,
- 17:37Speaker 1: a symptomatic exactly right, can pass it on. Ye. So
- 17:43Speaker 1: because they're not coughing and you don't see a fever
- 17:45Speaker 1: and they ain't tripping, you're thinking it's okay, and they
- 17:49Speaker 1: just spraying it on me. And we are dying. When
- 17:52Speaker 1: I say we, I mean our race at an alarming rate.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You know, listen to me, folks, don't let the mad
- 18:01Speaker 1: talk you into killing yourself and your family, because that's
- 18:07Speaker 1: what the potential is. We've got to stay with some
- 18:11Speaker 1: type of social distancing, some type of precautions until they
- 18:15Speaker 1: come up with where you can go get tested and
- 18:18Speaker 1: treated anywhere anybody. And right now, anybody can't get a
- 18:23Speaker 1: test and everybody can't get treated. That's a fact. And
- 18:30Speaker 1: the whole purpose of staying home was for the healthcare system.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Our system is broken. So if everybody gets sick again,
- 18:39Speaker 1: everybody's ever get taken care of in these hospitals. They
- 18:41Speaker 1: don't have no space for you. And all of these
- 18:43Speaker 1: hospitals now here we are back again. We saw this
- 18:46Speaker 1: happening in New York. What's gonna happen now You're gonna
- 18:49Speaker 1: get the healthcare worker sick. So now we're starting this
- 18:52Speaker 1: cycle all over. The Vice President said that the states
- 18:57Speaker 1: have enough testing capacity to be get reopening. Let me
- 19:01Speaker 1: ask you a question. Have all y'all had a test? No? Sir?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Do you know where you can go get a test? Yes?
- 19:08Speaker 1: I do you know where you can go? Kind go go?
- 19:12Speaker 1: I kind of know where I can go? Yes. Ok. Now,
- 19:15Speaker 1: let me explain something to you. I promise you the
- 19:17Speaker 1: average person don't no, I don't know. Go out there
- 19:22Speaker 1: and ask and ask who folks that ain't in your
- 19:26Speaker 1: position where you can go to get tested. Ask folks
- 19:31Speaker 1: who are in your position. If they test positive, can
- 19:36Speaker 1: they afford to check into a hospital. See that's the
- 19:40Speaker 1: problem we're talking about. And you know, it's like they've
- 19:44Speaker 1: made staying at home now such a horrible, horrible thing.
- 19:48Speaker 1: But if staying home is going to keep you safe
- 19:51Speaker 1: and healthy. What is wrong with that? You can do it.
- 19:56Speaker 1: We can do anything we put our minds to its.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You know, if it's a matter of life and death,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I think you choose staying it exactly. You know, surely
- 20:05Speaker 1: that's right. Listen. Everybody wants to go back to work
- 20:09Speaker 1: so they can get back on track and financially. I
- 20:13Speaker 1: got that. I'd like to go back and be making
- 20:16Speaker 1: some more money myself, right, But I can't. I can't,
- 20:20Speaker 1: and I have to accept that, and you can't, and
- 20:23Speaker 1: you have to accept that, right, And we're gonna get
- 20:26Speaker 1: through this. Worse has happened. Yeah, and these these protesters,
- 20:31Speaker 1: Steve that are out in the streets protesting. We want
- 20:35Speaker 1: to get back to Okay, hold up a sign. Yeah yeah, Okay,
- 20:40Speaker 1: we know this, and they're not gonna get to you,
- 20:44Speaker 1: uh too fast either. It's sad to say, but that's
- 20:47Speaker 1: the truth, all right, and we have to move on.
- 20:49Speaker 1: We'll we'll revisit this, of course, coming up next it
- 20:54Speaker 1: is a nephew would run that prank back right after this,
- 20:57Speaker 1: you're listening. Coming up at the top of the hour,
- 21:02Speaker 1: Miss Anna standing by with our national coronavirus update in news.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Also an entertainment news. So let's go crazy, Prince Grammy
- 21:11Speaker 1: salute is tonight. And on another note, Apollonia and Sheila
- 21:15Speaker 1: e our beefing what plus Snoop Dogg has a new
- 21:19Speaker 1: adult beverage and it's not jin Ha believe it or not.
- 21:22Speaker 1: We'll talk about all of these stories at the top
- 21:24Speaker 1: of the hour, but right now, Nephew in the building
- 21:27Speaker 1: to run that prank back? What you got nef zoom

- 21:58Speaker 1: My name is Ta. Who is it? Hey? This Kennedy
- 22:01Speaker 1: man that you can call me Ken? But that this Kennedy?
- 22:03Speaker 1: You work with my wife with my wife Katris. Oh

- 39:36Speaker 1: Time for asks to selo. Steve you ready, Chief Love Officer.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Here we go. Marian in Montgomery says, I recently met
- 39:45Speaker 1: a nice, attentive, and romantic guy, but he has an
- 39:48Speaker 1: issue with cleanliness that I may not be able to
- 39:52Speaker 1: deal with. Oh. He invited me over for dinner and
- 39:55Speaker 1: his home was filthy. The kitchen and bathroom were an
- 39:58Speaker 1: absolute mess. His clothes were everywhere, and his furniture smelled bad.
- 40:03Speaker 1: I told him something came up and I had to go.
- 40:06Speaker 1: I'm thinking about breaking up with him because it was
- 40:09Speaker 1: such a turn off. I told him he needs to
- 40:11Speaker 1: tidy up a bit, and he said he loves his
- 40:13Speaker 1: bachelor pad. Should I leave him alone? Or is this
- 40:16Speaker 1: something that I can get him to change? Well, that's
- 40:21Speaker 1: a deal breakers. I mean, I don't know how you
- 40:24Speaker 1: feel about cleanliness. But I don't know where I heard
- 40:29Speaker 1: this at, but I've heard it cleanliness. It's next to godliness.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, I heard. Well it came. I don't
- 40:41Speaker 1: really know, but I don't. I don't. For me, if
- 40:45Speaker 1: a person is not clean, I have a serious problem
- 40:49Speaker 1: with that. That's a deal breaker because I like to
- 40:52Speaker 1: think of myself as clean. Yeah, and I can't. I
- 40:56Speaker 1: dated a girl a long time ago. Man, what house? Trify?
- 41:01Speaker 1: This ain't last no time? Because man, I was over
- 41:05Speaker 1: there sitting in the house just looking at stough. You know,
- 41:11Speaker 1: I wasn't watching TV out looking down on the floor,
- 41:14Speaker 1: looking all over the counter. She said, you're not paying
- 41:17Speaker 1: attention to the TV. I can't. I can't where this
- 41:22Speaker 1: plate right here with these eggs on it. Say no,
- 41:26Speaker 1: it's Wednesday. Yeah, not good. She had a baby, the
- 41:31Speaker 1: baby crank crawling around the corner. He laughs. But but
- 41:39Speaker 1: let me ask you something, because you can get fooled sometimes, Steve,
- 41:42Speaker 1: when when someone looks really neat and clean, you know outside,
- 41:47Speaker 1: been fooled like that? Yeah, the house till it all
- 41:52Speaker 1: looking at their feet clean people take care of their feet.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and then small, Okay, here we go. Tie
- 42:00Speaker 1: in Arkansas says, for the past thirty years or so,
- 42:04Speaker 1: my wife has been driving me around, up, driving me
- 42:07Speaker 1: toward insanity, always criticizing what I do or don't do,
- 42:11Speaker 1: claiming I'm very selfish and negative. Now that we are
- 42:14Speaker 1: quarantined together, she's on my last nerve. With her high
- 42:18Speaker 1: blood pressure, bad cooking, and seeing her in a bonnet
- 42:21Speaker 1: every day. It's driving me crazy. My faith is strong,
- 42:25Speaker 1: but I fear one of us is going to drop
- 42:27Speaker 1: dead from all the yelling and fighting. How can I

- 45:16Speaker 1: school you are, and I'm glad and proud to let
- 45:20Speaker 1: you know that the prom is going to be back on.

- 45:28Speaker 1: All right? Um, yeah, she's gonna wow. This is okay,
- 45:33Speaker 1: this is exciting. So it's gonna be. It's it's it's
- 45:36Speaker 1: V Prom. I'm with V Prom and uh, I wanted
- 45:40Speaker 1: to call and make sure she knew all the particulars
- 45:43Speaker 1: about the prom. All right, it's gonna be. It's gonna
- 45:46Speaker 1: be Saturday night, May twenty three. You want to get
- 45:48Speaker 1: a pen and maybe right jot some of this down,
- 45:50Speaker 1: Leslie Gray pen, Thank you. Yeah, I'll tell you all right, Okay,
- 45:58Speaker 1: I'm ready. Okay, Saturday, eight May twenty third, right, and
- 46:03Speaker 1: that will be seven that will be seven pm, okay, okay,
- 46:06Speaker 1: seven pm. And where did you sorry, where did you
- 46:09Speaker 1: say it's going to be? Because you know, with everything
- 46:11Speaker 1: going on, how how how's that going to work? Well,
- 46:14Speaker 1: like I said, I'm with V prom and V is
- 46:16Speaker 1: for virtual Oh v oh I thought you were saying
- 46:19Speaker 1: V for okay VS. Okay, V is in virtual virtual? Yeah,
- 46:24Speaker 1: virtual prim It's so it's gonna be online. And it
- 46:27Speaker 1: is a requirement from the school that all of the
- 46:29Speaker 1: students attend. Another requirement you want to write this down? Yeah,
- 46:33Speaker 1: she has to have she has to be dressed, uh,
- 46:37Speaker 1: in formal wear. Okay, So she's definitely gonna need a
- 46:40Speaker 1: gown on. Wait, so like we could just do like
- 46:44Speaker 1: her like her college interview clothes, just a cute little
- 46:47Speaker 1: like a skirt and a shirt or something. No, we
- 46:49Speaker 1: need we need a full gown. Man, what would you
- 46:51Speaker 1: would normally wear to a prom? Wait? You're playing right, Uh? No, not,
- 46:58Speaker 1: this is These are the requirements. We know we're creating
- 47:01Speaker 1: the prom atmosphere and we definitely want every student for
- 47:05Speaker 1: the Yeah, and for the kids who already got their dress,
- 47:08Speaker 1: is good for them. But you know, we haven't been
- 47:11Speaker 1: able to go anywhere here to do anything, so I
- 47:13Speaker 1: would assume you're making an exception for you know, anybody
- 47:16Speaker 1: who doesn't have anything like. No, there are no exceptions, man,
- 47:18Speaker 1: there are no exceptions. You will have to have a gown.
- 47:21Speaker 1: All the gentlemen will be wearing tuxedos, the young ladies
- 47:25Speaker 1: will be wearing gowns. This is going to happen May
- 47:27Speaker 1: twenty third, at seven. Virtual you're saying, I'm sorry, actual
- 47:32Speaker 1: like like virtual like on the computer. Yes, but we
- 47:37Speaker 1: will be in your house and whomever is not wearing
- 47:41Speaker 1: the proper attire will not graduate. Oh wait, wait a minute,
- 47:46Speaker 1: Wait a minute. Okay, I'm gonna need you to back
- 47:48Speaker 1: up for a second, because you're trying to tell me
- 47:50Speaker 1: this girl is required to go to this prom, required
- 47:55Speaker 1: to wear elegant a prom dress, which I don't even
- 47:58Speaker 1: I don't know where the hell we're gonna to address
- 48:00Speaker 1: right now. I don't even know who'd be open to
- 48:02Speaker 1: get a dress. Why am I going to spend money
- 48:03Speaker 1: on a dress when she's going to use it in
- 48:05Speaker 1: the house besides that. Okay, you're trying to tell me,
- 48:08Speaker 1: Wait a minute, wait wait, you're trying to tell me
- 48:09Speaker 1: that she can't graduate if she doesn't have a prom
- 48:14Speaker 1: dress for if she doesn't go to this thing and
- 48:16Speaker 1: address that that. Those are the rules, man, those are
- 48:20Speaker 1: the rules I work. I work for v prom and
- 48:25Speaker 1: the school hired the company that I work for. Okay,
- 48:30Speaker 1: here's my here's a m Okay, all right, I'm trying
- 48:34Speaker 1: to I'm trying to concentend here. Okay, wait a minute,
- 48:36Speaker 1: here's my problem. I'm still trying to figure out homeschooling
- 48:39Speaker 1: for this girl so she can graduate in the first
- 48:41Speaker 1: place with the right grades. And you're trying to tell
- 48:43Speaker 1: me if she doesn't figure out this prom mess, this
- 48:45Speaker 1: for this online virtual crap, that she's not going to graduate. Well,
- 48:49Speaker 1: you need to take everything that I'm telling you and
- 48:52Speaker 1: tell the school that they can figure it out, because
- 48:54Speaker 1: she's not going to be showing up and showing up
- 48:57Speaker 1: what am I. She's gonna be on the on the
- 48:58Speaker 1: computer sitting. No, no, no, this isn't gonna happen, so
- 49:01Speaker 1: you better figure it out. This is man. We we
- 49:04Speaker 1: have website that you can buy from our company if
- 49:07Speaker 1: you would like to buy a dress and get address.
- 49:09Speaker 1: How convenient, How convenient you run the problem, You run
- 49:12Speaker 1: the dress company, and the dress is required. That that
- 49:16Speaker 1: just seems like more than a coincidence. But okay, you
- 49:20Speaker 1: know what, let no, Leslie can't go to the problem
- 49:22Speaker 1: this year. I guess she ain't graduating because you know what,
- 49:25Speaker 1: I'm sure, I'm sure the principal would like to hear
- 49:27Speaker 1: from from some parents who have a problem with this.
- 49:29Speaker 1: That everybody can't be on board with it. This is crazy.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Why would you send your daughter to private school if
- 49:35Speaker 1: you can't afford a dress? That doesn't make sense to me?
- 49:37Speaker 1: Do you use me? Oh? What? Who the who the Leslie?
- 49:42Speaker 1: Go do your own work? Go? Whoa who the do
- 49:46Speaker 1: you think you are? Who are you talking to right now? Why?
- 49:49Speaker 1: Why would you send your daughter to private school if
- 49:51Speaker 1: you can't you can't afford a dress? I can't afford
- 49:54Speaker 1: address you out here trying to trying to hustle for
- 49:57Speaker 1: dresses and proms for virtual problems. You what, I can
- 50:00Speaker 1: have my own virtual problem. I could call them everybody
- 50:03Speaker 1: in her class and be like, let's all do a
- 50:06Speaker 1: virtual zoom whatever and we can have our own problem
- 50:08Speaker 1: and wear whatever we want. But you out here trying
- 50:10Speaker 1: to trying to say you can have a virtual prom
- 50:12Speaker 1: and you have to wear a dress and spend money
- 50:15Speaker 1: on it, and we can get it from your site.
- 50:17Speaker 1: You have got to be kidding me right now. I
- 50:19Speaker 1: don't know who the you think you are, but I
- 50:21Speaker 1: know one thing I'm not trying to worry about. No,
- 50:24Speaker 1: my fucking daughter wearing a damn wearing a prom dress
- 50:28Speaker 1: to her living room so she can be on the skype,
- 50:31Speaker 1: zoom whatever with her friend. No, you know this is crazy.
- 50:34Speaker 1: I have bigger things to deal with. I don't know
- 50:37Speaker 1: if you know, but there's a pandemic going on outside,
- 50:40Speaker 1: and you out here trying to hustle me for prom
- 50:42Speaker 1: dress and you're trying to tell me she's not going
- 50:44Speaker 1: to graduate without her. You can get You can get
- 50:47Speaker 1: this dress overnight if you go to our website, ma'am.
- 50:50Speaker 1: That's why if even if I was stupid, even if
- 50:52Speaker 1: I was the dumbest motherfucker in the world and I
- 50:55Speaker 1: was dumb enough to get a dress, I would never
- 50:57Speaker 1: get it from you. I don't know who you are
- 51:00Speaker 1: talking to talking to me about my financials and what
- 51:02Speaker 1: I can afford in private school. You don't know who
- 51:05Speaker 1: the guy I am, so I don't know who you
- 51:06Speaker 1: are calling me and talking to me about somehow you're crazy?
- 51:10Speaker 1: This is okay, let me let me ask you. This
- 51:14Speaker 1: is your Your husband is Adrian? Correct? Yeah? Why do
- 51:18Speaker 1: you yes? Why do you need to know that? Adrian
- 51:21Speaker 1: told me to call you. This is nephew Tommy from
- 51:24Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Your husband, Adrian. He got
- 51:27Speaker 1: me through braink phone call you, Okay, I just need

- 51:43Speaker 1: is too crazy out here in these streets for you
- 51:45Speaker 1: to be with people like this. Oh my godness, tell
- 51:49Speaker 1: me this baby. It's twenty twenty. What is the baddest

- 52:32Speaker 1: I'm the cafeterier lady, and I'm the teaching hate. Johnny

- 53:46Speaker 1: hold on tight. We got it fall you here. It
- 53:47Speaker 1: is Strawberry letter, subject Wives Submit to your husbands. Dear
- 53:53Speaker 1: Stephen Shirley. I'm twenty eight years old and my fiance
- 53:56Speaker 1: is thirty five. We have a baby on the way,
- 53:59Speaker 1: and a recently moved across the country to be with him.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Now that I'm living in his home, I'm not sure
- 54:05Speaker 1: that I'm making the right choice, and I'm questioning whether
- 54:08Speaker 1: or not I should marry him when it comes to
- 54:11Speaker 1: his family. There is an open door policy with his family.
- 54:16Speaker 1: They come and go as they please, and his sister
- 54:19Speaker 1: has a key to our house. His mom is living
- 54:22Speaker 1: with us during the quarantine, and I don't mind her
- 54:25Speaker 1: being here. I have been busy planning for the baby,
- 54:28Speaker 1: and I got the nursery done and then started fixing
- 54:31Speaker 1: up the guest room for my mom so she could
- 54:33Speaker 1: be here for the birth of her first grandchild. My
- 54:36Speaker 1: fiance told me that my mom would be staying at
- 54:39Speaker 1: a hotel and not at our house. He told me
- 54:42Speaker 1: it would be too much to have both our mothers
- 54:44Speaker 1: here when he first started dating. When we first started dating,
- 54:48Speaker 1: my mother felt like he wasn't good enough for me,
- 54:51Speaker 1: and she let him know that he had to step
- 54:53Speaker 1: up and take good care of me. My fiance has
- 54:56Speaker 1: held a grudge against her since then, but he is
- 54:59Speaker 1: cordial to her. When I asked him what the problem,
- 55:02Speaker 1: what his problem is, he said, he doesn't care for
- 55:04Speaker 1: my mom and she's not welcome in our home. I
- 55:08Speaker 1: may the ultimate sacrifice by moving while I was pregnant,
- 55:12Speaker 1: and now he tells me this. He said, he is
- 55:15Speaker 1: a man of the house, and that's one of the rules.
- 55:18Speaker 1: If my mother has to stay in a hotel, the
- 55:21Speaker 1: baby and I will be in a hotel too. I
- 55:23Speaker 1: shouldn't have to choose between my mother and my fiance.
- 55:27Speaker 1: He keeps yelling about submission, but I know this is
- 55:31Speaker 1: not what the Bible meant by telling wives to submit.
- 55:33Speaker 1: How do I get things to work out in my favor?
- 55:35Speaker 1: Should I leave him? Please help? Yeah, You're probably gonna
- 55:39Speaker 1: have to leave him because he's crazy. I mean, he's
- 55:43Speaker 1: a control freak. He's disrespectful to your mother. I mean
- 55:47Speaker 1: she told him what most mothers would tell their son
- 55:50Speaker 1: in law, you know, step up, be a man and
- 55:52Speaker 1: take care of my daughter. How dare he say she
- 55:55Speaker 1: can't say she can't stay in the house and she
- 55:58Speaker 1: has to stay in a hotel because she's not welcome
- 56:01Speaker 1: in your home. Well, guess what, you live there, right,
- 56:04Speaker 1: so it's your home too. He just doesn't have the
- 56:08Speaker 1: right to do that. He may think he does, but
- 56:10Speaker 1: not to be disrespectful to your mother and this is
- 56:13Speaker 1: her first grandchild. His family way too much access to
- 56:20Speaker 1: the house, his sister having a key and coming and
- 56:23Speaker 1: going when she pleases. No, ma'am, no, ma'am. You gotta
- 56:26Speaker 1: put your foot down on that. You just have to
- 56:29Speaker 1: regulate certain things. You got to speak up for yourself,
- 56:32Speaker 1: and you got to speak up for your mom. And
- 56:34Speaker 1: what about your baby? I mean, do you want your
- 56:37Speaker 1: baby to be raised in this type of an environment
- 56:40Speaker 1: where you know, what he says goes? Your mother can't
- 56:44Speaker 1: stay here and I don't care for your mother? No, no,
- 56:49Speaker 1: and men kill me using the wives submit to your
- 56:51Speaker 1: husband's verse, you know, for it's for their own selfish reasons. Okay,
- 56:58Speaker 1: why would someone want to submit to him for what
- 57:01Speaker 1: he's way too mean and nasty with his stuff. I mean,
- 57:05Speaker 1: that is not what God meant with that verse. The
- 57:08Speaker 1: Bible also says husbands love your wife. It's Christ love
- 57:11Speaker 1: the church. I bet that is never mentioned in the home.
- 57:15Speaker 1: If it's not, you should say that, you should mention
- 57:17Speaker 1: that to him. Sometimes I just think, you know, moving
- 57:20Speaker 1: across country and then after you know, you get there,
- 57:25Speaker 1: all the way over there, then finding out that he's
- 57:27Speaker 1: maybe not the man you thought he was not good.
- 57:32Speaker 1: But if you don't, I don't think you should marry
- 57:34Speaker 1: this guy. I really don't. I don't. I don't like
- 57:37Speaker 1: what he stands for, especially since he did you said
- 57:40Speaker 1: that about your mom, So uh, pack up and leave maybe, Uh,
- 57:47Speaker 1: you know that might not be so easy, but figure
- 57:50Speaker 1: it out when your mom comes and all that. You've
- 57:52Speaker 1: got a baby to think about. I don't. I don't
- 57:54Speaker 1: think this guy is for you. I really don't. You
- 57:56Speaker 1: might have to move back, you might have to get
- 57:58Speaker 1: a home there, so at least a baby will have
- 58:00Speaker 1: both her parents. Steve Man, Yeah, she's twenty eight to
- 58:10Speaker 1: stud is thirty five. Baby on the way. I moved
- 58:15Speaker 1: across the country to be with him. Now, what I'm
- 58:18Speaker 1: noticing in this letter is a lot of sacrifices you
- 58:22Speaker 1: make it. But now here's a problem now that I'm
- 58:26Speaker 1: living in his home, which he obviously didn't prepare to
- 58:30Speaker 1: make it. You all's home you're not sure that you're
- 58:33Speaker 1: making the right choice. You're questioning the marriage now because
- 58:38Speaker 1: of his family. It's an open door policy with his family.
- 58:42Speaker 1: See that doesn't happen once a woman moves into the house.
- 58:47Speaker 1: He doesn't understand that now. Obviously he's had this position
- 58:50Speaker 1: with his family before you got there. Because his sister
- 58:53Speaker 1: had a key. She didn't just get the key, she
- 58:55Speaker 1: ben had a key, So he got this open door policy.
- 58:59Speaker 1: They come and go as they please. His mom is
- 59:02Speaker 1: living with us, doing the quarantine, and I don't mind
- 59:05Speaker 1: her being here. I've been busy planning for the baby,
- 59:09Speaker 1: got the nursery done, and then started fixing up the
- 59:12Speaker 1: guest room for my mom so she could come and
- 59:14Speaker 1: be here for the birth of her first grandchild. Then
- 59:17Speaker 1: your man coming there and told you that your mama
- 59:20Speaker 1: would be staying in the hotel and not in our house.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Excuse me, that hasn't been made clear yet. Here is
- 59:28Speaker 1: the problem. You said you moved into his home if
- 59:33Speaker 1: he did not make a way for you to feel
- 59:35Speaker 1: at home, and as his fiance say, let you know
- 59:38Speaker 1: that this is your home because when you getting married.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Now you got to be calling some shots in this house.
- 59:46Speaker 1: Most women are calling shots in their house. I don't
- 59:50Speaker 1: know about this submission stuff that he talking about, but
- 59:53Speaker 1: that ain't I didn't mad that one and two women
- 59:58Speaker 1: on this show is not they're submissive type. So I'll
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: give you the rest of him when we're coming back.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I don't know where to here you found him. Hang on,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: we'll have part two of Steve's response coming up at
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: twenty three minutes after be our today's Strawberry Letters, subject
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: wives submit to your husbands. We'll get back into it
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: right after this. You're listening to show, all right, Steve,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Come on, let's recap today's Strawberry letter, subject wives submit
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: to your husband's twenty eight year old girl gets pregnant.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Fan don't say thirty five. She wants to be with him.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: She moved across the country to be with him, into
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: his house that his mother's living there because they're quarantined
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: and during the corona, the girl doesn't mind that she's
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: been busy preparing for the baby. She was fixing up
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: the other room so her mother could come and be
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: there for the birth of her first child, which is
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: a really important thing when the mother gets to be
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: there for their daughter's birth and when a daughter gets
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: to have her mother there for her birth women women
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: like to share that type of thing, right, So you
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: got the nursery done, you started fixing up the guest
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: room for your mom, and your fiance told you that
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: your mom gonna be staying at the hotel and not
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: at our house. He told me too much to have
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: both our mother's here. Oh hold on you, mammy him
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: there you go. No, you know what I mean? You know,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I know you liking everything, but who who the other
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: old health in there? But see what you cannot do
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: is I'm carrying your child, Not that I ever have,
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: but I that job. Right there's daunting come across the
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: country to be what. You're moving to a house you
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: got open door policy with your family. You're not letting
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: them respect the fact that this is going to be
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: my house and you're not making me feel like I
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: have any satan in my house. Why would you sign
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: up for that? That'd be too much to have both
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: your mother's here. And when we first started day and
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: your mother felt like he wasn't good enough for you,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: and she let him know he had to up on
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: and take good care of me. When my fiance say
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: the hell of grudge against her sins. He's called you
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: to him, but then you ask him what his problem is.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: He say, he don't care for your mom and she's
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: not welcome in our home. Hold up, pardon, you gotta
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: be a bigger man than this. Now, this is her mother,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: this is her grandchild, this is her daughter, and you
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: mean she ain't welcome in your home? Why? Why? Dog?
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Because she asked you to step up in the beginning?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: How long ago was that? Yeah? Did you step up?
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: What you're mad about? I made the ultimate sacrifice by
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: moving while I was pregnant. And now he tells me this.
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: He said he the man of the house and that's
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: one of the rules. Well what rules do the women
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: get to have? Because the women, I know, they got
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: rules in their house, and rule number one is the
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: man don't tell them how to do the house. Now, look, sister,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I don't don't know why. I don't know what example
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: you the scene of it, but that ain't high work.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: Women have a say so in that house, and they
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: really have the bulk of the say so. Just to
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: be honest with you, So now, if my mother has
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: to stay in the hotel, the baby and I will
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: be at the hotel. I don't know how close you
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: are to conceiving, but that's a crazy ass option because
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: you want to bring the baby home, not bring the
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: baby to the hotel. I shouldn't have to choose between
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: my mother and my fiance. You shouldn't, and he shouldn't
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: make you choose, especially during a time like this. If
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: this dude cannot be considered enough to go, you know what,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: hold on this? My girl she going through it now.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: I'm stressing how she already pregnant? Man, Something can none
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: of us do or even we can't even remote lead
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: remotely understand that process. We have nothing we've ever done
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: that gives us any idea of what that is. Nothing,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: we've nothing come close to what we do. And you
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: don't have a He doesn't have enough gumption in him
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: to think better of his potential wife and his child
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: that you wouldn't see. You don't want to see your
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: wife happy at this time, sister. If this man don't
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: want to make you happy and comfortable doing this period
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: of your life, what's gonna happen after the baby get here?
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: And if you go along with this right here, you're
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: setting the tone to have to go along with way worse.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: So now, if I were you, this is what I
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: would do. I would say, Okay, that's fine, I'll go
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: back across the country and then my mother we can
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: go back to her house and my mother can enjoy
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: the birth of her grandchild and I can have this baby.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: Because what you don't want to do is be in
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: a hotel room and taking the baby to a hotel room.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Shame on him. Yeah, I mean, bro, you're being beyond petty.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: You're at a level of disrespect right now for your
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: girl to start with your girl and her wishes and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the predicament she must be in carrying this baby of yours. Submission, submission, submission,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: you know that's like you know, look, man, if you're
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: not a proper leader, what are you asking me to
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: submit to. You're not asking me to submit to nothing
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: that makes it better for me or makes it better
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: for our family. You're asking me to submit to your will.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Who who'll put you in charge of me? See, let
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: me tell you something. God did not put me in
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: charge of my wife. I'm not in charge of her.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'm her partner. And maybe you need to go back
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: and be with your mom. I think maybe you should
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: say that to him, just saying I'll tell you what
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: so I don't make you uncomfortable. And obviously this is
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: your home. I'll go back home and have my baby
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: and you can come see your child there at my
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: mother's house in the hospital. Post your comments on today's
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: Strawberry Letter. It's Steve Harvey FM on Instagram and Facebook,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: and check out the Strawberry Letter podcast on demand. Please
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: now coming up at forty six minutes after the hour,
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: George's governor will allow some businesses to open this week.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: We'll find out which ones right after this. You're listening
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Well, Jacksonville, Florida has
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: reopened the Duval County beaches and now if you live
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: in the state of Georgia, we'll get ready to call
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: your stylist and make your appointment because the Governor of Georgia,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: mister Brian Kemp, says he plans to reopen some of
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: the following businesses. Take note, hairs the lines, barbershops, nail salons, gems,
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: bowling alleys. That's on Friday. Then restaurants with strict social
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: distancing guidelines that'll be on Monday, along with theaters, U
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: and churches too if they follow the social distancing restrictions. Uh,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: they're about or close to nineteen thousand cases of COVID
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: nineteen in Georgia. So what do you guys think? Um,
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: do you guys think that the governor's moving way too fast? Absolutely?
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Well done? All my head. I'm not doing none of that. Yeah,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: it doesn't. It doesn't make any sense. And I think
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: the best example I've seen it at was from the mayor. Yes,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: she was on CNN with Chris Cromo and uh last night,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: and I think she was spot on with it. She
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: doesn't understand the rush. Listen to me, y'all. We don't
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: have enough tests, we don't have enough test centers, we
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: don't have enough beds to handle all of the influx
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: of what has happened. Now do we all want this
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: to be over? Of course we do, but we can
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: ill afford to rush back. And like she said so eloquently,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: what difference does it make if we get on the
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: other side of this thing? But you not here, and
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: let me tell y'all something about these nail shops have salons,
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Bobby shop, who you think that is? Don't let this
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: man run you out here? And your ass and your
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: ass die. You've got to use better judgment. It's a
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: sad thing that happened to that minister who kept having
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: them services and then he died from COVID nineteen. They said, man,
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: he talked about opening churches. Who you think that is?
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: That's us, Bobby Shops Nail Salon, that's us. Oh dam Look, man,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: come on, y'all, let's think this thing through. And we
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: don't need to go bowling movie theater. Everybody got Netflix
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: and Cable the movie what what's coming out? Didn't you
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: got to get your ass down there to see already?
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: And let me explain something. I don't even normal body
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: releasing movies doing the COVID nineteen. They didn't push back
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: all the movie? Who want to? Who want to show
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: the new movie? Ain't nobody coming right? Don't? Well, I
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: got to get down here, all right? Coming up at
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: the top of the hour. What's something you complained about
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: having to do before the coronavirus but would love to
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: be able to do today. We'll talk about it right
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: after this. You're listening to show. Well, guys, staying at
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: home is making us closer. A new survey found that
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: ninety percent of pairing, say, sheltering at home, you're casty. Damn,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: I'm just messed up by this day opening churches. Sick
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: mess right here. Look, I want to go to heaven,
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: but not Nick's weekend. I'm not trying to rush it.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: I'm not trying to rush And can't you talk to
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: the Lord at your house? You can? Yes, you can, Yes,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you can have been with him outside of church. Oh yeah, exactly,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: go ahead. Well, I was saying, stay, staying at home
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: is making us closer. A new survey found that ninety
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: percent of parents say sheltering at home has brought their
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: families closer together, with parents saying they're playing board games, now,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: they're cooking together, and they're hanging out with their kids.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: And according to the survey, it brought parents closer together too,
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: many using the time to get locked down and dirty.
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: One and five of the parents surveyed said their bedroom
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: activities have double since they have been spending so much
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: time at home together, with twenty one percent saying they
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: are doing it every single day. Yes me, okay. So
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: so here's the question, though, what's something you complained about
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: having to got no kids? Here? Here's the question, guys,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: what's something you complained about having to do before the
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: virus but would love to be able to do today? Well? Anything? Yeah,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: of course, what is it? Work? You're at work right now?
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: You mean you're But aren't you glad you have this one? Yeah? Man,
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I complained amployed, Yes you are, sir. I complained about
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: going to the hair salon and the nailne I hate
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: it going. I was like, oh, we'll just hold tight
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: and Georgia Friday, you go. Yeah, I hate it. I
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: hate going, but you gotta go. You gotta go, but
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I don't like going. But now I'm not ready to
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: go on Friday though, I'm definitely not. What about you, Junior? Restaurants?
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: How they are? I never did this much damn cooking
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: in my life? I know, man, Junior, I've been doing
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: a lot too. Man. Man, I've discovered I ain't all
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: that good at damn cook us to brag about how
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: good you are. I can grill, Oh the pots and
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: skillets and all of that. Nah, man, I just made
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: a big bowl last night. I made a huge pot
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: of vising chili. Oh that sounds good, yeah delicious. Oh
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: that's good. Okay, Well, so you are a good cook,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Marjorie Hilly truth to be told. I was sitting to
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: make a huge mistake because I thought you made a
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: chili with chili powder. But you really got to have
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: that chili season and in the path too, Yeah, and
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: you put I know how to make chili. I do?
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I do right to make chili, Steve. You talked about
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: how you could cook, and now you discovered you can't.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: I can't cook the stuff I really love. I know
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: how to make chili. Thank you. Okay, when we come back, Shirley,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: you're gonna tell us how to make chili. Okay, but
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: out I know you know you gotta put some butter
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: in there that I didn't put none in there. Are
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: you gonna have to help me? You know that? No, no,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: no no, because he knows my rest what he does.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: He asked me for a million times, Junior, do too.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: I gave it to you. Tommy asked you for your
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: chili wresting. Tommy. You've been off tonight a lot of
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: stuff from this what Yes, all right, well we come back.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: We'll be right back. Ladies and gentlemen, get your pins,
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: get your I phones out. Shirley's gonna verbally tell us
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: how to make chili when we come back. Remember you're listening.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: All right, we're back, y'all. I'm handling this from him.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: We left, we back. We left on a note that
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I could not believe. But Shirley said that she can
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: make chili. And then I said, well, you gonna take
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: us after the break. She said, Tommy gonna help me.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Tommy gonna help you, because Tommy use my recipe before.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: I've never heard of it, asking surely for a recipe
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: to a damn thing, Steve. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Okay,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: I make it with ground turkey. I brown the ground
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: turkey and the skillet. Okay, I always use I always
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: cooked with butter, So I use butter. I use the
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: chili um the chili packets, you know, I put that
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: in there some I mixed the hot and the mild
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: because I don't like it really really hot hot hot.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: I do like a kick. I use chili powder. I
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: use um, cayenne pepper. Uh, not a lot of salt
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: because the chili pack has a salt. I use butter.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I use kidney beans, I use um. I chop up
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: the onions and the h I haven't made in it
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: so long because agains there Arnesta, it's heartburns. So he
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: can't eat tomato, eat stuff. Am lucky. Uh, let's see
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: stew tomatoes, stew tomatoes, and yes, the beans, the onions,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: chili powder, cayenne pepper. I promise you'll be tell me.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: I'll tell you, Junior, I'll tell you both of them.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Have you're listening, Well here we are another day. Um wow.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Yesterday the Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, opened up Georgia
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: started to open it up. On Friday. It'll start opening
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: up hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, bowling alleys. I think
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: churches with social distancing. Uh, esteticians, you know, the people
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: who take care of your skin, massages, people who give
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: it you know. Yeah, and then on Monday it'll be
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: restaurants and theaters. So yeah, yeah, yep, we're gonna go
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: watch a movie. Tom Temmy. Seriously, I know you're asking
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: a really serious question here, and you would think that, um,
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: you wouldn't have to ask a question like that, but
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: in this case you do because there will be people,
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: just like when the Florida governor opened up the beaches,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: right Steve, all those people were out there. You think
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: people aren't going to be going to the hair that's
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: because you know why, people have had enough of this.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: I'm tired of being in this house. And that's what
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: this is but crack and and they're trying to do
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: something for the economy and and but listen to me,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: here's the problem with it. I got you tired of
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: being in the house. But the mayor of Atlanta was
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: on television last night talking to Or Chris Cromo, and
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: she has a great relationship with the governor. And Chris
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Cromo asked her that did did did the governor confer
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: with her? She said, let me be clear, the governor
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: does not have to confer with me about this because
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: he is the governor. But no, he didn't confer with me.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: But she's saying, what good does it do if we
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: get on the other side of this and you ain't here? Yeah,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: there you go. Because she initially said May thirteenth, I
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: think that she wanted the city to stay closed. Yet
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: here's here's here's what I don't understand. We don't have
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: enough testing, we don't have testing sites. People who think
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: they haven't have to stay home, you know, I mean
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: This is ridiculous. If you do have a case of it,
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: you may not have a bed for you. So I
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: don't understand the Russian getting this open. So what I
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: want to say the Russia is money to our listeners.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Be smart here, man, use your God given common sense.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Just because they say you free to go bowling and
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: go to a movie, man, don't take your hands down
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: now to go. You don't know who down there to
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: get your hair done, your nails, and that's that's not
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: social distancing. And so far that's all we have that
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: really works. Because you're right, we don't have a vaccine.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: They're still working on that. There's not a cure yet.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Coming up, our last break up the day. Please stay
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: home and stay safe people, and we'll have some closing
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: remarks from Steve Harvey at forty nine minutes after. Right
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: after this, you're listening to the Steven Show. All right,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: Here we are our last break of the day. It's
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: last break on the day between you and jail. All right,
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: So Steve, there you have it. I can cook. See there.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I gave you my chili recipe. I hope you wrote
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: the ingredients down. You cook it chili, it's hard. I
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: hope you wrote it. No, I don't, No, not at all.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: He asked me, and I told him, I've been seeing
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: like a lot of stuffy ye and have never heard
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: anybody ask you for a bite or nothing. Well, that
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Taste piece of cake, nothing,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: because I don't cook a lot. I don't. I won't
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: cook a lot of it. It's not one of my
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: favorite things to do. But when I cook, I cook.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: What do you like to cook? Though? If you had to,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: if you had to choose, what's something? Oh? I cook
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: a lot. I cook an entire Thanksgiving dinner, everything once
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I'm into it. You want to try something for somebody,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: really dress good dressing, mac and cheese. I'm not gonna
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: do that. Hard to do because you don't cook that
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: kind of food. I don't believe. Well, i'll invite you.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: I'm not coming to a year. I'm not coming to nobody.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: I just don't ask me to come to your house
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: for the one damn day. Pick another day, you know,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: yeahoween for the fall. Let's go with your closing remarks.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: How about that? What it's about chili? Good? No? You
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: know when we talk about this thing, I have tried
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: really hard not to make this show COVID nineteen Information Center.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: But as this thing has gripped us, we are compelled
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: to be more than just entertaining at time, because this
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: problem is hitting us in a way that's in the
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: disparaging numbers based on a percentage of African American and
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: poor people in this country. We are disproportionately being hit
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: by the number of cases and depths. And it is because, man,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: we are so uninformed. It is amazing, man, the things
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: we will do to ourselves. We cannot expect to be
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: able to sit back and blame anyone for this. I
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: got that we have troubles with fresh foods in the neighborhood.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: I got that we have less opportunities because they are
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: less jobs in these hoods. I got all of that.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: What they got to do is stay at home and
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: washing your hands. It's nothing, that's nothing to do with it, man,
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: And we have got to save ourselves here. This is
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: about us, man, saving ourselves. The cavalry is not coming
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: over the hell. Even if they've come up with all
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: these testing centers, how many of them you really think
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: gonna be in the hood, How many you really think
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: you know where, because they're gonna take the money and
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: they're gonna put it where they get the most tax
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: dollars from. And it ain't ever the hood. Listen to me.
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: If they don't give us enough adequate teachers, if they
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: don't equip the teachers in our neighborhoods with adequate supplies, books,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: and desks, what makes you think they fit to give
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: you all the tests and all the medical attention you need.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? We're having a tough enough time
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: just getting the government to help those that are less
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: fortunate with just basics. Now you're asking for some medical attention.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: What you want a bed? Excuse me? You want preferential
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: treatment because you're sicker than somebody. Please, that's not how
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: this country's built. Y'all. Stop waiting on the cavalry to
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: come over the hill. We got the same God we've
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: been depending on, and even in that, he gives us wisdom,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: wisdom to know what's smart. God has given us an
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: amazing amount of of stick tuitiveness, an amazing amount of
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: strength to overcome. We have overcome so much. We can
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: overcome this with God's help, But we got to use
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: our God given common sense don't listen to this governor
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: and Georgia talking about just get out and going to
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: the nail salons, barber's shops, bowling nallies, and movie theater.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Well in Atlanta. Who is at I live in Atlanta,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: in Atlanta, Georgia. Who is that? You know what that is?
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: That's us out there? Get yourself some fresh cases. Take
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: it back to the house. Kill as many of y'all
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: as can, because we're trying to have an election in
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: November and we don't really need y'all here pulling that level.
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: No way. Now, I'm not saying that's the reason they're
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: doing it at all, and I would not even want
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: to put that out there as a potential theory. But
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: just in my closing remarks, I'm just throwing it out
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: just as some random It might sound messy, but man,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: listen to me. I don't put nothing past nobody when
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: it comes to taking care of myself and my family.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: I'm not gonna let the governor or the state of
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Georgia talk me outside when I know good in heck well,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: it ain't the smart thing to do. Anybody with any
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: measure of sense would think, wait a minute, man, why
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: they open it up those types of places. Those ain't
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: even essential places. Holda I think it's more central to
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: get an education than it is to get a haircut.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: But you ain't here none about schools opening because that
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: would endanger all types of people. So let's just do
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: nail shops, bear beauty salons, and barber shops. Who is
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: this opening really for? Those are my closing remarks. Y'all
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: be careful about that man, practice social distancing. Man washyall's hands.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: Be careful. Man. Don't listen to this government. He tricked
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: y'all already said. If he lets them out on Monday,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: that's gonna be more cases. He's talking about you for all.
