- 1:32Speaker 1: Let me give you some quotes from some recent um
- 1:35Speaker 1: newspaper and magazines and USA Today dated January. He was
- 1:41Speaker 1: called the most powerful talent in the sports business just
- 1:43Speaker 1: a year ago, and he followed it up with his
- 1:46Speaker 1: best years of professional First Take had his highest rated
- 1:49Speaker 1: ever ratings ever since. It's this is large nearly a
- 1:52Speaker 1: decade ago after making the move to ESPN. Combining his
- 1:56Speaker 1: quest to annihilate the competition along with management showing or
- 2:00Speaker 1: belief in him than ever before, there's no reason to
- 2:03Speaker 1: believe the face of ESPN will not change soon. Here's
- 2:07Speaker 1: another quote from The New Yorker magazine dated June how
- 2:11Speaker 1: the star First Take became ESPN's most recognizable face. Here's
- 2:16Speaker 1: another quote from another article recently in USA Today dated
- 2:20Speaker 1: September September. He would do anything for ESPN, but his
- 2:26Speaker 1: ambitions don't stop there. I love it, please working the money,
- 2:30Speaker 1: making conversations, sports and General Hospital soap opera star stephen A. Smith.
- 2:38Speaker 1: What's going on? Man? How are you doing? I'm doing fantastic, Steven.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I wish, I wish I was a star General Hospital.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I gotta work on my active shot. What's going on?
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm going good man? Uh? First of all, um, just
- 2:50Speaker 1: just how did that start? I wouldn't just get that
- 2:52Speaker 1: out real quick because a lot of people know about it.
- 2:54Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know about it. But you
- 2:56Speaker 1: really enjoy appearing on General Hospital as the character Brick No.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I love it, um. You know, it's a lot of
- 3:03Speaker 1: fun because I grew up watching the soap coming to
- 3:06Speaker 1: home from school. We had a couple of TVs in
- 3:09Speaker 1: my house and I had four older sisters and they
- 3:13Speaker 1: were all watching General Hospital. You know, we were at
- 3:16Speaker 1: ABC Family. That's why I so ironic that I'm with
- 3:19Speaker 1: ESPN and the part of the Walt Disney An ABC Family,
- 3:23Speaker 1: because that's the main channel we grew up watching, and um,
- 3:26Speaker 1: if you wanted to watch TV after you came home
- 3:28Speaker 1: from school, you had to watch in the hospital because
- 3:31Speaker 1: the two TVs we had in my house, that's what
- 3:33Speaker 1: the TV was on. And if you didn't want to
- 3:35Speaker 1: do that, then you're gonna have to go and do
- 3:37Speaker 1: your homework. So, you know, usually usually we ended up
- 3:40Speaker 1: watching General Hospital. And I've been watching General Hospital since
- 3:44Speaker 1: I was about seven years old and I've never stopped
- 3:48Speaker 1: ever since I'm fifty, it's been about forty years and
- 3:52Speaker 1: I've been watching General Hospital. And I remember one time
- 3:55Speaker 1: I showed up about General Hospital and the cast there, uh,
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, try to test me. They're like, we hear
- 4:02Speaker 1: that you're this guy has watched this, and they would
- 4:04Speaker 1: ask me about a scene. I said, actually, no, that
- 4:07Speaker 1: wasn't the seeing. This was the scene. And it was
- 4:09Speaker 1: before they had even appeared on the show, and they
- 4:12Speaker 1: were there for like twenty years, so it was I
- 4:15Speaker 1: knew more about it than some of them did. That's awesome, hey, Steven,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and I outlined some quotes from recent magazines and interviews
- 4:23Speaker 1: that were the featured you. One of the quotes from
- 4:25Speaker 1: that You Say Today article were actually the headlines they
- 4:30Speaker 1: just September seventeen, it said you will do anything for
- 4:33Speaker 1: it but for ESPN, but your ambitions don't stop there.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Explain that quote the headlines. But what what what what
- 4:41Speaker 1: I mean? I I you know, they put that headline
- 4:44Speaker 1: in there, but it's not entirely inaccurate. I believe that
- 4:47Speaker 1: any employer UH that shows the faith and the confidence
- 4:52Speaker 1: in me UH to to hire me, I have an
- 4:56Speaker 1: inherent obligation to give them my very best, and not
- 4:59Speaker 1: just in terms of performance, but in terms of effort.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm the kind of person that I think it's incredibly
- 5:05Speaker 1: important that an employer looks at me and knows that,
- 5:09Speaker 1: you know, if this man ever came to us and
- 5:12Speaker 1: said something can't be done, it's because they can't be done,
- 5:17Speaker 1: because this man has exhausted every option and every angle
- 5:20Speaker 1: imaginable to be successful. If he can possibly be on
- 5:24Speaker 1: behalf of our company and of himself. And I don't
- 5:29Speaker 1: get lost in the chef. I mean, obviously I have
- 5:31Speaker 1: an entrepreneurial spirit to some degree. There's a lot of
- 5:33Speaker 1: things that I want to do, and there's a lot
- 5:35Speaker 1: of things that I have done on my own, but
- 5:38Speaker 1: at the end of the day. Even if you're an
- 5:40Speaker 1: entrepreneur and and you're a business owner, you're gonna answer
- 5:43Speaker 1: to somebody, even if his uncle is saying, You're gonna
- 5:45Speaker 1: answer the so my so, my mentality has always been
- 5:50Speaker 1: make sure that the people who show faith in you,
- 5:53Speaker 1: you honor the faith that they've showed in you by
- 5:55Speaker 1: giving max effort and doing everything that you can uh
- 5:59Speaker 1: to produce max performance. And that's really what I'm about.
- 6:03Speaker 1: And that's where that quote, that quote emanates trump. I
- 6:06Speaker 1: always want UM, whether it's ESPN or you know, I
- 6:09Speaker 1: used to work for Fox before, I used to work
- 6:11Speaker 1: for CNN before, I work the Philadelphia Inquiry before works
- 6:15Speaker 1: the New York Really News before UM. And the one
- 6:18Speaker 1: thing that they have in common, and you know, even
- 6:20Speaker 1: for my days as an intern with the Winston Salem
- 6:23Speaker 1: Journal when I was in college, the one thing that
- 6:26Speaker 1: everybody has in common when it comes to me is
- 6:29Speaker 1: they say the same thing. The man doesn't get out work,
- 6:33Speaker 1: he will do whatever it takes uh in striving to succeed.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And that's my mentality. I had a good fortune of
- 6:40Speaker 1: watching you do a speaking engagement in front of college students,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and I was it was like a rock star. It
- 6:47Speaker 1: was like it was like watching Aids, you know. Um,
- 6:51Speaker 1: it was so into your brand. How do you you
- 6:54Speaker 1: say you're fifty. How does your brand resonate so well
- 6:59Speaker 1: with that millennial group, of that college group. Why do
- 7:02Speaker 1: you feel that such an amazing high level of appeal
- 7:05Speaker 1: for you. I don't care whether you're two years old,
- 7:08Speaker 1: you're twelve years old, you're twenty two year, thirty two year,
- 7:11Speaker 1: forty two year, fifty two or sixty two years old. UM,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I've never met anyone that gets tired of hearing truth.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And that's what it really comes down to. When you
- 7:23Speaker 1: look at when you look at me, you know that
- 7:26Speaker 1: I mean what I say, and I say what I mean.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's not not playing. And you know if I'm gonna
- 7:32Speaker 1: put if I'm gonna put myself in a line of fire,
- 7:35Speaker 1: so be it. Um. It's about delivering the goods that
- 7:39Speaker 1: it pertains to. Uh, someone looking at me and knowing
- 7:43Speaker 1: that I'm real and I'm authentic in that regard, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go out of my
- 7:49Speaker 1: way to sugarcoat things. I'm not trying to be disrespectful,
- 7:52Speaker 1: I'm not trying to hurt anybody. I'm not trying to
- 7:54Speaker 1: do anything, but you know, when I was a kid,
- 7:56Speaker 1: I grew up idolizing one of the people I grew
- 7:59Speaker 1: up idolizing anyway, with Howard Coastell. Howard Coastells a former
- 8:03Speaker 1: of a sports broadcaster UH and famous for Wide World
- 8:07Speaker 1: of Sports and Monday Night Football and various other things.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I remember, I remember, that's right. I remember looking at him,
- 8:15Speaker 1: but also looking at various other folks on television, and
- 8:20Speaker 1: I remember the authenticity of his words. You just never
- 8:23Speaker 1: got the impression that he didn't mean what he said.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Put On so many other occasions, watching so many people,
- 8:29Speaker 1: so many other people, you could see people making a
- 8:33Speaker 1: conservatives not strenuous effort uh to sugarcoat things, to come
- 8:39Speaker 1: across as a bit soft pedal into for lack of
- 8:42Speaker 1: a better word or phrase. And I always felt like
- 8:45Speaker 1: those people are holding back, they're cheating me, because they're not.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I just want to know the truth. And so as
- 8:51Speaker 1: a result of that, I had always promised myself if
- 8:54Speaker 1: I weever in that position, people would know I meant
- 8:56Speaker 1: what the hell I said and I and I say
- 8:59Speaker 1: what I mean, UM, And I think that that level
- 9:02Speaker 1: of realness, uh, it breeds a level of authenticity that
- 9:06Speaker 1: not only an audience trust, but it truly appreciates because
- 9:10Speaker 1: it knows it's not getting from everybody. And as a result,
- 9:13Speaker 1: they can rely on you at least touching a certain
- 9:18Speaker 1: perspective that they may have in tinckling and tinkling their
- 9:21Speaker 1: thoughts just a little bit and giving them food for thoughts.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And that's what I strive to do every day. Now.
- 9:26Speaker 1: With that being said, and we know that your popularity
- 9:29Speaker 1: in many platforms is pretty strong, especially social media, but
- 9:33Speaker 1: you're also commented on a group of athletes that are
- 9:37Speaker 1: very sensitive and thin skin. How does that affect Does
- 9:42Speaker 1: that affect you? Does that matter to you? Do you
- 9:44Speaker 1: want to have that relationship? How does that? How does
- 9:47Speaker 1: that balance happen? This stephen ame one? It affects you
- 9:50Speaker 1: to some degree because obviously you know they're not they're
- 9:53Speaker 1: not prone, you know, key to sit down with you're
- 9:56Speaker 1: doing interview sometimes or whatever the case may be. U Um.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You know where it affects me personally is if they
- 10:04Speaker 1: feel that I was unfair or wrong. Those are the
- 10:08Speaker 1: ways that it affects me. If they feel if they
- 10:11Speaker 1: feel that I was unfair or I was wrong, because
- 10:14Speaker 1: I always want to be fair and I always want
- 10:16Speaker 1: to be as right as I possibly can be. Outside
- 10:19Speaker 1: of that, we don't have things giving dinner together, We
- 10:23Speaker 1: in exchangeing Christmas gifts. They don't pay my bills, um,
- 10:27Speaker 1: and I'm gonna do my job. My obligation is to
- 10:30Speaker 1: my audience, my viewers, my listeners, my readers, uh and
- 10:34Speaker 1: the folks that that that follow me on social media
- 10:37Speaker 1: to a degree as well. My my obligation is to them.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It is not to the athletes. My only obligation to
- 10:44Speaker 1: the athlete is to be as fair and the strivers
- 10:48Speaker 1: to be as accurate as I possibly can be. And
- 10:52Speaker 1: a lot of times even when they you know, sometimes
- 10:54Speaker 1: when they say that that I'm wrong, I actually laugh
- 10:58Speaker 1: at them. And the reason why I laugh at them
- 11:00Speaker 1: is that, okay, well then why didn't you return my call?
- 11:04Speaker 1: Why didn't you return my text message? You can see
- 11:07Speaker 1: that I made a concerted effort to try to speak
- 11:09Speaker 1: to you, to get to the truth before I said anything.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So you avoiding me and being inaccessible doesn't insulate you
- 11:21Speaker 1: from me. That's not gonna work. The athletes, the athletes
- 11:26Speaker 1: that I have dealt with and I've dealt with many,
- 11:28Speaker 1: as you well know. The athletes that I've dealt with
- 11:30Speaker 1: throughout my career, the one who really, if ever had
- 11:34Speaker 1: any issue with me are the ones who who remain
- 11:39Speaker 1: in contact and are accessible. You don't owe that to me,
- 11:43Speaker 1: but you have to understand doing my job, I don't
- 11:45Speaker 1: owe you what you think I owe you. I think
- 11:47Speaker 1: we both have a job to do. And if I'm
- 11:49Speaker 1: in pursuit of the truth and I call you and
- 11:53Speaker 1: I text you, why confront you. I reach out to
- 11:56Speaker 1: you and I see you face to face, and you
- 11:58Speaker 1: have an opportunity to even give me the truth, and
- 12:01Speaker 1: you passed. Don't want and moan about what my perspective
- 12:05Speaker 1: is when you see me on national television speaking the
- 12:09Speaker 1: millions upon millions of people because you had an opportunity
- 12:13Speaker 1: to address that and you refused. That is your prerogative.
- 12:17Speaker 1: And a lot of occasions, by the way, a lot
- 12:19Speaker 1: of the times I've been accused of not telling the truth,
- 12:22Speaker 1: they've been patently false. But you will see it on
- 12:24Speaker 1: the thirties and thirty documentary or feature or something along
- 12:27Speaker 1: those lines, with the exact thing that I said is
- 12:30Speaker 1: exactly what they admitted to. They just didn't want it
- 12:33Speaker 1: out publicly. Well, guess what, you might have had a
- 12:35Speaker 1: better chance of that happening had you communicated with me
- 12:38Speaker 1: when I reached out to you. And that's important that
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know. When I do the show, money making conversation
- 12:43Speaker 1: of it, it's just it's layers, stephen A. It's about
- 12:45Speaker 1: layers from a business perspective, from a brand perspective, and
- 12:48Speaker 1: also give your message out there. What who is Stephen A?
- 12:52Speaker 1: Span in the in the quick nuts? Yet, who is
- 12:54Speaker 1: Stephen Asmaan? Um? I'm a god faring man and who
- 13:01Speaker 1: loved my mother daily with all my heart before she
- 13:03Speaker 1: passed away. She's the greatest woman I've ever known, who
- 13:06Speaker 1: lives every day trying to work hard to be the
- 13:10Speaker 1: very very best that I can be and to do
- 13:13Speaker 1: the kind of things that would make her proud. That's
- 13:16Speaker 1: basically me. Everything else falls in line with that kind
- 13:21Speaker 1: of thinking. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes. Um. I've
- 13:25Speaker 1: done things over the years that may have upset or
- 13:27Speaker 1: disappointed her, but it's human far between because I've lived
- 13:32Speaker 1: in my life under those principles pretty much all of
- 13:36Speaker 1: my life. Because there's nobody that I loved the more.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And so you know. For me, I try to be
- 13:42Speaker 1: somebody that's not a phony, that tries to be as
- 13:46Speaker 1: real and other and as authentic as I possibly can read. Uh,
- 13:50Speaker 1: that recognizes the obligation that I have, not just to myself,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but to others who placed their trust and their faith
- 13:57Speaker 1: in me. Whether it be my employer, whether it be
- 14:01Speaker 1: the public, whether it be my family and my loved ones,
- 14:05Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. I try to live up to the
- 14:09Speaker 1: expectations are of me because their expectations breathe from what
- 14:13Speaker 1: I purported myself to be. Thank you for coming to
- 14:16Speaker 1: much and thank you for sharing your story. No problem,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Man, Y'll take it easy. Thank you
- 14:21Speaker 1: for having me. Hey, man, do you think Yeah, we
- 14:28Speaker 1: sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a lot
- 14:30Speaker 1: of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me for
- 14:33Speaker 1: my credit card debt and I blamed him for building
- 14:35Speaker 1: that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming each
- 14:38Speaker 1: other dinner homework and read that a smart way to
- 14:41Speaker 1: consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan. But
- 14:44Speaker 1: getting a loan was brutal and a time drain, So
- 14:47Speaker 1: I was in my man cave researching personal loans and
- 14:50Speaker 1: I found best Egg. They have an A plus rating
- 14:52Speaker 1: with the B B B and best Egg handles everything online,
- 14:56Speaker 1: start to finish, and Consumer Affairs gave best Egg five
- 14:59Speaker 1: stars for their easy online loan app. And we could
- 15:01Speaker 1: be approved and funded and as little as one business day.
- 15:04Speaker 1: I applied online with no impact my credit score. She
- 15:07Speaker 1: always takes credit from my wins. But long story short,
- 15:10Speaker 1: she got an awesome loan, paid off our cards and
- 15:13Speaker 1: some bills while lowering our monthly payment. The best Egg
- 15:16Speaker 1: loan was like a total fresh start. Visit best egg
- 15:20Speaker 1: dot com slash blue best egg dot com slash blue.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Subject to credit approval, Actual rates, visa and approval times
- 15:27Speaker 1: will vary. Watching the game, when the doorbell rings and
- 15:29Speaker 1: the delivery guy surprises you who with a bucket of
- 15:31Speaker 1: hot wings and a couple of microbe brews. Yeah, that's
- 15:34Speaker 1: the feeling women get when they receive flowers for absolutely
- 15:38Speaker 1: no reason. So when's the last time you send her
- 15:40Speaker 1: flowers just because you were thinking of her? And if
- 15:43Speaker 1: she got your flowers tomorrow, what do you think her
- 15:45Speaker 1: reaction might be? Well, you can times tend that when
- 15:48Speaker 1: you send flowers from the books. You know the books
- 15:51Speaker 1: where the flower folks with farms located on the side
- 15:54Speaker 1: of a volcano that grow flowers as spectacular as she is.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Books are cut from farms and delivered fresh to her
- 16:01Speaker 1: so they last. And you know every day she admires
- 16:04Speaker 1: your flowers is another day you're a rock star. So
- 16:06Speaker 1: send her just because flowers from the boots next day,
- 16:10Speaker 1: delivery next day, and get ready to be the most
- 16:13Speaker 1: thoughtful man on earth. Go to books dot com and
- 16:16Speaker 1: enter hero for your thoughtful guy discount. Yeah off at
- 16:21Speaker 1: b o u q s dot com and ed her
- 16:24Speaker 1: hero books dot com. My next guess is the owner
- 16:31Speaker 1: of Sassay Jones boutique. She's on the phone. Sassy Jones
- 16:35Speaker 1: has grown from a six figure brand to a multimillion
- 16:38Speaker 1: dollar bree. I probably borrow some money from her multi
- 16:41Speaker 1: bill in two years, she's a multimillion dollar brand. Come on, now,
- 16:44Speaker 1: she knows she's passing that some money, but all her
- 16:46Speaker 1: relatives kind of trying to find her on a regular bation.
- 16:48Speaker 1: She's won a lot of They think she's so rich, boy,
- 16:51Speaker 1: can I borrow some? They don't let alone. You call
- 16:54Speaker 1: their ricket and they asked you to said why you
- 16:55Speaker 1: can get another one. We women through genius use of technology,
- 16:59Speaker 1: relationship building, and stellar marketing strategies. When you look good,
- 17:04Speaker 1: you feel good, and we got the perfect pieces to
- 17:06Speaker 1: help you upgrade your look flaws, lely and affordably. That's
- 17:09Speaker 1: what Sassa Jones Boutique can do. Her inception, with her
- 17:13Speaker 1: obsession with exceeding customer expectation, is what has helped to
- 17:17Speaker 1: become an award winning accessory brand. Please welcome to Money
- 17:21Speaker 1: Making Conversation, Charie Jones. Hi Rashan, how are you come on? Girl?
- 17:27Speaker 1: You make we win in here. We went in here
- 17:29Speaker 1: because you know why we're winning because you got money
- 17:31Speaker 1: and your money main conversation. If you didn't have money,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I don't think I could put your money make conversation.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Oh my god, I am so thrilled to be here.
- 17:42Speaker 1: And Lord knows, yes, I'm happy that I made the
- 17:44Speaker 1: cut to be of money Making Conversations. This is what
- 17:50Speaker 1: we're gonna do with you, and I was. My relationship
- 17:52Speaker 1: with you is that when you come on my show,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I don't just do an interview. You give me some banners,
- 17:57Speaker 1: You give me some videos of what your brain it is,
- 18:00Speaker 1: and I will put it on my platform, because that's
- 18:02Speaker 1: the purpose of this show. Because you are a person.
- 18:06Speaker 1: You you they call they call you a marketing mathing.
- 18:09Speaker 1: You know, you know that's what they're saying. Because this
- 18:13Speaker 1: money made a conversation. I brought a marketing mathing on that.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And see the thing I know about accessories because see,
- 18:18Speaker 1: like today I got my they call them suspenders, but
- 18:20Speaker 1: when you pay a little money for them, they call
- 18:22Speaker 1: them braces. The hold up the pains, you know, some'waring,
- 18:25Speaker 1: some bracest. See, this is what they call it. Accessory.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You know. See people that people that they go into
- 18:31Speaker 1: the other stores, they call them suspenders. Got I got
- 18:36Speaker 1: no braces. Now, when you pay a certain amount of money,
- 18:38Speaker 1: they changed the name, so you do accessories. Now, I
- 18:44Speaker 1: know how important that is, you know, from cuff legs,
- 18:47Speaker 1: two watches, two shoes, because I wear a pair of
- 18:50Speaker 1: shoes will change the look of my suit of my pants.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And sometimes I can get away with that because they
- 18:56Speaker 1: should be looking at my shoes. They don't know I
- 18:58Speaker 1: wore that suit a couple of weeks ago, last yesterday exactly.
- 19:02Speaker 1: So tell us about this whole How the Sassy Jones
- 19:05Speaker 1: get started, and how can we reach out and the
- 19:07Speaker 1: help continue to make you a multimillion dollar company. Oh well,
- 19:12Speaker 1: Sassy Jones. We started five years ago, and we started
- 19:15Speaker 1: with two small things, my minivan and my kitchen. So
- 19:20Speaker 1: I traveled. I left my corporate job, traveling the world
- 19:23Speaker 1: doing these trade shows and accessorizing women and every trade
- 19:26Speaker 1: show that you can imagine. And I drove my minivan.
- 19:28Speaker 1: We never we never flew. I didn't have the budget
- 19:31Speaker 1: for that, you know. I put that dollars in my
- 19:33Speaker 1: in my minivan. And it was also the first year
- 19:36Speaker 1: of my twin boys life. I had just dropped twin boys.
- 19:39Speaker 1: They were you know, three, you know, three months at
- 19:41Speaker 1: the time, and we got on the road and I
- 19:44Speaker 1: just wanted to make it and that was the only
- 19:46Speaker 1: way that I knew to get out of the corporate right.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I just go sell to women, you know, and sometimes
- 19:51Speaker 1: the boys and my family came, and sometimes they stayed home.
- 19:54Speaker 1: But then, you know, at the end of that year,
- 19:55Speaker 1: it was so physically exhausting and it was so mentally exhausting,
- 19:59Speaker 1: and I wasn't happy. And so I had a choice.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I could either go back to work or I could
- 20:04Speaker 1: work my business in a much smarter way. And I
- 20:07Speaker 1: decided to do the second, which was through online marketing,
- 20:11Speaker 1: And I said, you know what, the biggest fear with
- 20:13Speaker 1: online shopping is that people don't really know who they're
- 20:16Speaker 1: buying from. They don't really know what the craft is
- 20:19Speaker 1: gonna look like when they get it in the mail,
- 20:21Speaker 1: whether they're gonna be happy, who who am I gonna
- 20:24Speaker 1: call to get on customer service? Are they in a
- 20:26Speaker 1: bear cardy not? You know all of those things. So
- 20:29Speaker 1: I say, what if I could create my own h
- 20:32Speaker 1: S in QVC like experience and allow the customer to
- 20:36Speaker 1: get to know who they're doing business with the next
- 20:39Speaker 1: time they have an accessory decision, we are top of
- 20:42Speaker 1: mind and also off have a have an excellent offer
- 20:46Speaker 1: and incentive to buy and just have fun. Right, And
- 20:49Speaker 1: it's like the modern thing of just demoing and teaching
- 20:52Speaker 1: the customer how to use your products. That's that's what
- 20:55Speaker 1: it is, in the pure in the purest form. So
- 20:57Speaker 1: that thing we started in my kitchen UM called the
- 21:00Speaker 1: Sparkle Party. So that that same shelving, that same custom
- 21:04Speaker 1: shelving system that I purchased for the trade shows, I
- 21:07Speaker 1: set that bad boy up in my kitchen. So every
- 21:10Speaker 1: every week on Wednesdays, we had we live streamed on
- 21:15Speaker 1: Periscope and on sabe. Yeah. Yeah, live streams in front
- 21:21Speaker 1: of this setup. And first night I did it, I
- 21:24Speaker 1: made six hundred dollars in an hour. And we've done
- 21:27Speaker 1: it for two years now. We've done it for two
- 21:30Speaker 1: years now, and for that hour of work now we
- 21:33Speaker 1: make ten thousand dollars every Wednesday night. Now, that is
- 21:38Speaker 1: so cool because of the fact that you know, because
- 21:41Speaker 1: first of all, because that's what that's using, what social
- 21:44Speaker 1: media is all about. First of all. Yeah, and secondly,
- 21:47Speaker 1: you know, I know people are listening. You gotta have
- 21:49Speaker 1: personality now, MS Jones has personalities, so you's you came
- 21:52Speaker 1: because there's a lot of people. There's a lot of
- 21:54Speaker 1: people out there, a lot live broadcast in Paris school.
- 21:56Speaker 1: They need to chet that down. If if I if
- 21:59Speaker 1: I had a Bobby going okay, okay, key hired me
- 22:02Speaker 1: because I'm gonna go through and just unplug some people.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Because because because social media shouldn't be free, you should
- 22:09Speaker 1: start charging people that shouldn't be on social media. They
- 22:11Speaker 1: really should, you know what, because they waste some times
- 22:14Speaker 1: because you can get more, you can get more more bandwidth.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Now now here's the deal. I love this because you
- 22:20Speaker 1: you you said that, you said, look shopping network, you
- 22:23Speaker 1: can do it. Why can't I do it? Why can't
- 22:25Speaker 1: I tell people about my brand? When did you know
- 22:28Speaker 1: that it was a hit. Was when you got your
- 22:30Speaker 1: first purchase, you went, this could work, you know what?
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think the first one because I didn't have many
- 22:38Speaker 1: people watching. We might have had twenty four people watching
- 22:41Speaker 1: on the first Barker Party. But to be able to
- 22:43Speaker 1: convert that into six hunderd dollars for one hour of
- 22:45Speaker 1: work between eight and nine pm, um, I'd say that
- 22:49Speaker 1: that was worth it. And I just decided to double
- 22:51Speaker 1: down and do more of what worked. So we kept
- 22:54Speaker 1: doing it, and then we started to advertise to it.
- 22:57Speaker 1: So instead of going on and on ones there and
- 23:00Speaker 1: talking to crickets, we set up the anticipation, Hey, join
- 23:05Speaker 1: us at eight o'clock. We've got an exclusive offer for you.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You're gonna have a chance to win, and we give
- 23:09Speaker 1: away crazy stuff. We give away handbags, all sorts of stuff,
- 23:13Speaker 1: hundred dollar gift cards every week. And now we're to
- 23:15Speaker 1: the point where we're inviting celebrities and friends. We call
- 23:19Speaker 1: it Sparkle Party with Friends to join in um, you know,
- 23:22Speaker 1: for for the viewing experience for the customers. But I
- 23:25Speaker 1: knew it was a hit from the first from the
- 23:26Speaker 1: first time I did it. Now here's there in. The
- 23:28Speaker 1: customers loved it. Okay, when does it happen? When does
- 23:31Speaker 1: it happen? Every Wednesday night at eight pm Eastern Standard
- 23:35Speaker 1: Time on our Facebook page. You can find us on
- 23:37Speaker 1: Facebook Sassy Jones Boutique. Okay, cool, So here's the deal.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Here's the deal. You Roshawn likes to help our people. Okay.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I like the bill, your brand, It's already out there
- 23:48Speaker 1: on fire. So so I'm gonna I want to I
- 23:57Speaker 1: want to promote every Wednesday if you don't mind, same
- 23:59Speaker 1: your lane and I have my staff connect you so
- 24:02Speaker 1: we can start. You know, I got like almost eight
- 24:04Speaker 1: hundred thousand Facebook followers and we're gonna start. Can we
- 24:08Speaker 1: send them over there to you? Can? Can I send
- 24:09Speaker 1: a few of them over there to you? I need? Yes,
- 24:11Speaker 1: please send them to me because you know it's the
- 24:14Speaker 1: Sparkle Party, right, the Sparkle Party, right, Okay party? Okay, cool,
- 24:18Speaker 1: okay cool? Because see I love first of all, I
- 24:21Speaker 1: love your personality. You You you're a winner, You're a winner. Secondly,
- 24:25Speaker 1: you're right in line where I created money making conversation
- 24:28Speaker 1: because you're self starter. You thought you thought of an
- 24:31Speaker 1: idea because a lot of people on there. It's like
- 24:34Speaker 1: I said, you say, look at it. I got. Let
- 24:36Speaker 1: me use my my air time wisely US an hour
- 24:40Speaker 1: and you picked the time a PM. I don't know
- 24:43Speaker 1: why you picked the time, but that time work for
- 24:45Speaker 1: you and your kitchen. The twins probably sleep, husband probably
- 24:49Speaker 1: in bed watching What's Center or something like I could
- 24:52Speaker 1: do my thing in my kitchen. You need like build
- 24:54Speaker 1: out anything using let everybody know you authentic and I
- 24:57Speaker 1: feel that that's why people really bought into you. But
- 25:00Speaker 1: you also realized I have a great product is shiny
- 25:03Speaker 1: show people like the shiny things on TV. And that's
- 25:06Speaker 1: at a reasonable price because guess what, that's the new
- 25:09Speaker 1: TV is You're monitoring your phone, that's the new TV.
- 25:12Speaker 1: And your head. You your head of the curve. So
- 25:15Speaker 1: every Wednesday, I want to be a part of the
- 25:17Speaker 1: Sparkle party. Okay, Sassy Jones, I'm there. I'm not lying
- 25:22Speaker 1: to you, So Samantha's in here. Uh, just sender whoever
- 25:26Speaker 1: situation that I want to I want to get that batterer.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I want to do it this Wednesday. I want to
- 25:30Speaker 1: be we want to launch your Wednesday night. Okay, thank you,
- 25:34Speaker 1: thank you because you know, like I said, you didn't
- 25:37Speaker 1: know you're gonna get all listening. You came on Money
- 25:38Speaker 1: Made Conversation. Answer questions. Man, you know I won't ready. God,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I won't ready. I won't ready. I'll tell you all
- 25:46Speaker 1: won't ready. Well, guess what. You're a friend of mine,
- 25:50Speaker 1: Tell your huthing high, kiss those twin bars and tell
- 25:52Speaker 1: him that mom was great, and tell him Dad is great.
- 25:55Speaker 1: And tell Rashan McDonald's a fan and he's now supporting
- 25:59Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation. Yeah, we sort of stopped paying attention
- 26:02Speaker 1: and racked up a lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful.
- 26:05Speaker 1: He blamed me for my credit card debt and I
- 26:08Speaker 1: blamed him for building that man cave. It's awesome anyway,
- 26:11Speaker 1: we stopped blaming each other, did our homework and read
- 26:13Speaker 1: that a smart way to consolidate debt is to get
- 26:16Speaker 1: a fixed rate loan. But getting a loan was brutal
- 26:19Speaker 1: and a time drain. So I was in my man
- 26:21Speaker 1: cave researching personal loans and I found best Egg. They
- 26:25Speaker 1: have an a plus rating with the B b B
- 26:27Speaker 1: and best Egg handles everything online start to finish and
- 26:30Speaker 1: Consumer Affairs gave best Egg five stars for their easy
- 26:33Speaker 1: online loan app and we could be approved and funded
- 26:36Speaker 1: and as little as one business day I applied online
- 26:39Speaker 1: with no impact my credit score. She always takes credit
- 26:41Speaker 1: from my wins. But long story short, she got an
- 26:44Speaker 1: awesome loan, paid off our cards and some bills while
- 26:47Speaker 1: lowering our monthly payment. The best egg loan was like
- 26:50Speaker 1: a total fresh start. Visit best egg dot com slash

- 27:07Speaker 1: that's the feeling women get when they receive flowers for
- 27:10Speaker 1: absolutely no reason. So when's the last time you send
- 27:13Speaker 1: her flowers just because you were thinking of her? And
- 27:16Speaker 1: if she got your flowers tomorrow, what do you think
- 27:18Speaker 1: her reaction might be? Well, you can times tend that
- 27:21Speaker 1: when you send flowers from the books. You know the

- 28:05Speaker 1: made Conversations. I'm back. My guess is online. You know
- 28:10Speaker 1: she's a friend, like a longtime friend who's now a
- 28:14Speaker 1: food television star. Now, you know, you meet people regularly
- 28:17Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden they're on TV. You go,
- 28:19Speaker 1: I know them. Wow. You know that's really crazy. Say
- 28:23Speaker 1: the word chef, and traditionally it conjures up images of
- 28:26Speaker 1: a big white hat, a top of restaurant chef. However,
- 28:29Speaker 1: this recipe of this dynamic chef goes against all traditions.
- 28:33Speaker 1: She has known for her bold flavors and sassy personalities,
- 28:36Speaker 1: say the least. Beginning her professional career as a corporate
- 28:39Speaker 1: marketing executive. She gave it up a lucrative job to
- 28:42Speaker 1: pursue her passion for food and cooking to enter the
- 28:46Speaker 1: culinary industry. A classical say, I'm not a classical trained anybody,
- 28:51Speaker 1: but she is, including studying in European countries such as Venice,
- 28:54Speaker 1: Italy and Vianna, Australia and beyond Australia, and graduation from
- 28:59Speaker 1: the inter National Culinary Schools at the Institute of Atlanta.
- 29:03Speaker 1: She's also worked for the renowned Rich Cars in Hotel Please,
- 29:06Speaker 1: working the Money Making Conversation. One of the co hosts
- 29:09Speaker 1: of the popular Food Network show Let's Eat Chef. Jimmyka
- 29:15Speaker 1: coming back Bay September. I got yourseft and I got
- 29:21Speaker 1: you back, you know, Thanksgiving week? I know. Can you
- 29:24Speaker 1: smell the turkey in the air? Come on, come on now,
- 29:27Speaker 1: I got this big spread. I'm just letting you know.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I gotta spread up doing for my staff. I got
- 29:33Speaker 1: deep frying three turkeys to three. I'm getting up at
- 29:37Speaker 1: two o'clock in the morning. Girl, two o'clock in the morning.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I've done my prep work. That's key. I'm just She'll
- 29:42Speaker 1: tell your prep work when you're doing something big, it's
- 29:44Speaker 1: key and I already did my p and onion salad layout.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I've already done my tiki and my Peter bread. I'm
- 29:52Speaker 1: doing that when I got home. Ready, that's already later.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I already did my corn bread. I baked that yesterday.
- 29:58Speaker 1: For my dress sing and everything. I put cranberries and
- 30:01Speaker 1: my dressing up pork saucers, that sage pork saucers, I
- 30:04Speaker 1: put ellery. I put onions in there. So that's that's
- 30:08Speaker 1: already set aside, and then I got to dive into
- 30:10Speaker 1: the desserts. There you go see, and I feel like
- 30:12Speaker 1: there's two different types of people for Thanksgiving. It's the
- 30:15Speaker 1: people like you that are ready that I'm playing and
- 30:17Speaker 1: they're ready to go, and then it's the one panic
- 30:19Speaker 1: and like, oh no, what am I supposed to do?
- 30:21Speaker 1: I don't know what cooking turkey like that. It's two
- 30:23Speaker 1: types of people. You already got your set, so I'm
- 30:26Speaker 1: here to help those people that come. That's what I'm
- 30:27Speaker 1: talking about because you don't talk to me show. But
- 30:29Speaker 1: first before we start talking about that, let's talk about
- 30:31Speaker 1: your show, your TV show. I got to see it again.
- 30:34Speaker 1: How's everything going with Are you're excited? Uh? How? Because
- 30:37Speaker 1: you were saying digitally was just blowing up on it.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's such a blessing. I mean it's
- 30:43Speaker 1: called Let's Eat, and I'm co hosting with two other
- 30:46Speaker 1: dynamic hosts, and it's on the Food Network app and
- 30:48Speaker 1: you can see it online. So a lot of people
- 30:50Speaker 1: are like, oh, I missed the show on TV. I'm like, Nope,
- 30:53Speaker 1: You're never gonna miss the show because it's always on
- 30:55Speaker 1: your phone. I'm always with you anyway. Time you want
- 30:57Speaker 1: to see me and cook with me, I'm right there.
- 30:59Speaker 1: So we do all different types of food, and we
- 31:01Speaker 1: have lots of fun, and we give lots of recipe
- 31:04Speaker 1: ideas and tips and stuff like that. So that's why
- 31:07Speaker 1: I'm here today. I'm like, I want to give people
- 31:09Speaker 1: lots of ideas to to kind of take that stress
- 31:11Speaker 1: away from the holidays, because you really should be having
- 31:13Speaker 1: a good time with family, not worrying about how are
- 31:16Speaker 1: you going to get this done and and cooking and
- 31:18Speaker 1: burning stuff. Like it shouldn't be that type of holiday.
- 31:20Speaker 1: It should be a fun time. You know, Well, it's
- 31:22Speaker 1: a fun time for people who want to eat. Okay,
- 31:27Speaker 1: everybody want to eat good food dies, So food this
- 31:29Speaker 1: should be out of people's hands before it's destroyed. And
- 31:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna go and say that too, but before we're
- 31:35Speaker 1: going to further, I know, I made a commitment to
- 31:37Speaker 1: you your brand that I will supported on my social media.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Have I been delivering on that absolutely, And I appreciate
- 31:45Speaker 1: people like you because you have such a dynamic platform
- 31:48Speaker 1: and you extend that out to people touches myself. So
- 31:50Speaker 1: every Wednesday you have been profiling a recipe and it's
- 31:54Speaker 1: been such a great response. I mean, people in the
- 31:55Speaker 1: comments like, I want to make that. I made that
- 31:57Speaker 1: and it turned out great. So I'm so grateful to
- 32:00Speaker 1: you for doing that, and you keep your wards so
- 32:02Speaker 1: I appreciate well, I appreciate you doing it because of
- 32:05Speaker 1: the fact that my fansy they're they're curious group, you know,
- 32:09Speaker 1: they are opinionated group too, and they want to if
- 32:11Speaker 1: they make something, I can make it better. Cool. Don't
- 32:15Speaker 1: be challenging me. I'm just putting it out here just
- 32:17Speaker 1: to let you know. There are people out there who
- 32:19Speaker 1: don't know how to cook. And that's what that's that's
- 32:22Speaker 1: your rolling life. The rolling life is not they're professional
- 32:24Speaker 1: out there. People think they're professional. You're not gonna change
- 32:27Speaker 1: their mind. You know, they got recipes. They don't even
- 32:30Speaker 1: pull out a cup or tea spot. They just start
- 32:33Speaker 1: making stuff, you know, just they say I love watching
- 32:36Speaker 1: some cooking show. They say half a cup and it
- 32:38Speaker 1: just grabs something with their hands, just put it there. Okay,
- 32:43Speaker 1: that like, that's just cooking with instincts. You can't really
- 32:46Speaker 1: teach that. It's just a gut feeling, you gotta know.
- 32:48Speaker 1: But everybody doesn't have that. So for the people that
- 32:51Speaker 1: don't have it, they have to follow a recipe. That's
- 32:53Speaker 1: okay too. You can measure, get your tea spoons and
- 32:55Speaker 1: measuring cups, and you can flow right along with us.
- 32:58Speaker 1: And you know, our relationship is a long term because
- 33:00Speaker 1: we met when I was, you know, running into the
- 33:03Speaker 1: co created Steve Harten Morning Shore with Steve Harvey and
- 33:05Speaker 1: I was excutive producer and uh, I used to come
- 33:07Speaker 1: over there and because here's your phone, we had to
- 33:10Speaker 1: deal with her phone and used to make the recipes.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Now at the time, where were you in transitioning because
- 33:15Speaker 1: of the fact that I know you was had had
- 33:18Speaker 1: a corporate job. So what I want to just talk
- 33:20Speaker 1: about a little bit about that too, because a lot
- 33:23Speaker 1: of people are sitting and listening to the show, trying
- 33:26Speaker 1: to make decisions, afraid to make decisions about what they
- 33:29Speaker 1: really want to do versus what they're actually doing currently.
- 33:32Speaker 1: How did you make that decision? Well, and you know
- 33:34Speaker 1: what I think, for anybody listening, if you're wondering like
- 33:37Speaker 1: should I do this? Can I do this? This is
- 33:39Speaker 1: the best time to do that in twenty nineteen. I
- 33:41Speaker 1: am encouraging everybody to take that leap of faith because
- 33:44Speaker 1: it wasn't and it's not easy for anybody. It definitely
- 33:47Speaker 1: wasn't easy for me. I mean I started. I had
- 33:49Speaker 1: my degree in marketing, and I thought that's what I
- 33:51Speaker 1: wanted to do. But I found myself going to a
- 33:53Speaker 1: job every day and I'm like, this is not this
- 33:55Speaker 1: can't be the rest of my life. I'm not being fulfilled.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I'm sitting at a desk. This is not my purpose.
- 34:00Speaker 1: And I wasn't really sure what I fully wanted to do.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And I definitely wasn't thinking about being on television. I
- 34:05Speaker 1: just knew that that wasn't the right place for me.
- 34:07Speaker 1: And when they started laying people off because businesses started
- 34:10Speaker 1: going crazy, and it was like, this is your moment.
- 34:13Speaker 1: They were like we can demote you and you can stay,
- 34:16Speaker 1: or you can just just take your papers and go.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And I was the only person in the office that
- 34:20Speaker 1: was that raised my hand was like, let me go.
- 34:22Speaker 1: And in that moment I wasn't I still wasn't sure.
- 34:25Speaker 1: And you don't have to have a one percent of
- 34:27Speaker 1: the plan. You just got to start walking by faith,
- 34:29Speaker 1: because you know what you're capable of. You know that
- 34:31Speaker 1: if you you want to be a chelf or you
- 34:33Speaker 1: want to be a cook, you know what your talent,
- 34:35Speaker 1: you know what you're good at, and that's what you're
- 34:36Speaker 1: supposed to pursue. You really should be happy every day
- 34:40Speaker 1: about what you're doing. Me right now, I am living
- 34:42Speaker 1: the dream. I mean, I started my own business um
- 34:45Speaker 1: as a personal chef and a caterer, and transition that
- 34:48Speaker 1: into auditioning for reality TV shows on on the Food
- 34:51Speaker 1: Network and just doing those those things you never know
- 34:55Speaker 1: where they're gonna take you. And from that, I mean
- 34:57Speaker 1: years later, I'm still on television and now I'm doing
- 35:00Speaker 1: bigger and better things, appearing on daytime talk shows. I'm
- 35:03Speaker 1: gonna be on Good Morning America on Thursday cooking for Thanksgiving.
- 35:07Speaker 1: That is so there's nowhere on my paper here about
- 35:13Speaker 1: I just slip that in because I'm just so excited
- 35:15Speaker 1: because it's blessings like that. I'm like, that is one
- 35:17Speaker 1: of my dream morning shows. And then to get an
- 35:19Speaker 1: email like we want you to come cook for Thanksgiving
- 35:22Speaker 1: and you can't write that, you can't you can't plan that.
- 35:24Speaker 1: That is just being a part of the process and
- 35:26Speaker 1: walking in faith and you just got to see where
- 35:28Speaker 1: God takes you. And that's really how I ended up
- 35:30Speaker 1: where I am. We're good. Let's talk about what you're
- 35:32Speaker 1: gonna make on the Good Morning America? What are you
- 35:34Speaker 1: gonna make one Good Morning? Well, the thing is where
- 35:37Speaker 1: I really want I'm I'm calling myself the chef to me,
- 35:40Speaker 1: I am your non one one survival guide, and like
- 35:44Speaker 1: it's really about people that, like I said, that wanted
- 35:46Speaker 1: that start to panic and it could be a lot
- 35:47Speaker 1: of pressure, especially if this is your first time cooking
- 35:50Speaker 1: for something. You've got a lot of family coming over
- 35:52Speaker 1: and you're like you're starting to feel that anxiety of oh,
- 35:54Speaker 1: I don't want to ruin this, so you want to
- 35:56Speaker 1: pull it off. So that's really what I'm here to
- 35:58Speaker 1: kind of put people at ease and let you know,
- 36:00Speaker 1: it's okay, it's just a turkey. He can't beat you, Like,
- 36:03Speaker 1: you can do this. But it's really about getting everything
- 36:07Speaker 1: in the order. So you got it, and I call
- 36:08Speaker 1: it the three piece. We're gonna plan, we're gonna prep,
- 36:12Speaker 1: and then it's time to party, y'all. That's really what
- 36:14Speaker 1: it is. And it's Monday, so you should already have
- 36:17Speaker 1: your checklist. You should have already gone shopping and making
- 36:20Speaker 1: sure that everything is in place so that the last
- 36:22Speaker 1: minute you're not sending somebody to the store like, oh,
- 36:24Speaker 1: go give me some sugar, give me some flower. Like
- 36:27Speaker 1: if you're doing that, you're it's going to start to
- 36:29Speaker 1: fall apart. You better be ready to rock and roll now.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Now I was looking at the sweet potato bread pudding.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I'm I do I do a raising bread pudding and
- 36:42Speaker 1: I do a sweep potato pie. Okay, it seems like
- 36:45Speaker 1: you put those together without the raisins. It's the most
- 36:48Speaker 1: amazing dessert because it's like a sweet potato pie meet
- 36:52Speaker 1: your grandma's bread pudding. And you can do pumpkin in
- 36:54Speaker 1: that too, if you if you're a pumpkin person, because
- 36:56Speaker 1: you know, it's a battle of the sweepotato in the
- 36:58Speaker 1: pumpkin depends on where you what you're gonna put in.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Give you walk me through that step, because you know
- 37:06Speaker 1: I'm putting my my cheerful seawan had on. You know, Okay,
- 37:12Speaker 1: we do that. Like I said, I know how to
- 37:14Speaker 1: do the sweet potato pie. I know how to do
- 37:17Speaker 1: that because I can make a sweep for my staff tomorrow.
- 37:20Speaker 1: And I'm gonna make the raising bread putting. Tell me
- 37:23Speaker 1: how's that done? How do you make that? Well, you're
- 37:25Speaker 1: gonna start with You're gonna peel and dice about a
- 37:27Speaker 1: pound of sweet potatoes and you can boil them off
- 37:30Speaker 1: just to get them for tender. If I'm in a rush,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I even pop them in the microwave for about six
- 37:34Speaker 1: to eight minutes just to get them. And you're gonna
- 37:37Speaker 1: leave the swep potatoes there, and then you're gonna start
- 37:39Speaker 1: in your bread pudding. So you can use the day
- 37:40Speaker 1: old bread, a French bread, Italian bread, any type of
- 37:43Speaker 1: crusty bread that you have thick cut and you'll do
- 37:45Speaker 1: maybe about six to eight cups of that, and then
- 37:48Speaker 1: you start with the bread pudding parts. You know, you
- 37:49Speaker 1: gotta have your milk in there. We can do sugar,
- 37:53Speaker 1: condensed milk sweet, and I mean, I'm centnaments. And you
- 37:56Speaker 1: know what my secret is, Everybody write this down. It
- 37:59Speaker 1: is freshly graded nutmeg, not just the one you shake
- 38:02Speaker 1: out of there. You take that microplane, you you get
- 38:04Speaker 1: that nutmeg and you created across the top. That is
- 38:07Speaker 1: what's going to take your bread pudding to the next
- 38:10Speaker 1: level where people are like, what is that? Because it's
- 38:12Speaker 1: just so distinct in that flavor. You're gonna combine the
- 38:15Speaker 1: sweep potatoes with your bread and all your milk and
- 38:18Speaker 1: your sugar and everything, and soak that in there for
- 38:20Speaker 1: about thirty minutes, and you're gonna break baking in your
- 38:22Speaker 1: baking dish the same way you would do your regular
- 38:25Speaker 1: bread pudding, and the swep potato just adds a little
- 38:27Speaker 1: bit of color, a little bit of flair, a little
- 38:29Speaker 1: more texture, a little more sweetness to it, and you're
- 38:32Speaker 1: baking off any other oven until it is beautiful, golden brown.
- 38:35Speaker 1: And you know it's ready because the whole house smells
- 38:37Speaker 1: just like heaven. I mean, it is just bubbling delicious,
- 38:40Speaker 1: and I love to top it off. I put a
- 38:42Speaker 1: little bourbon in mind. You if you want to kick
- 38:44Speaker 1: it up and roll and now we can top. You
- 38:48Speaker 1: got a warm people don't let the kids get in this,
- 38:50Speaker 1: but I do it at the end. So if you
- 38:53Speaker 1: want to do a quick sauce is this is it
- 38:55Speaker 1: the fastest thing you've ever imagined. You get a cup
- 38:57Speaker 1: of vanilla ice cream and you let it melt, and
- 39:01Speaker 1: you're like waving, what you're gonna do with that? Thought?
- 39:02Speaker 1: You leave the ice cream home. No, this is gonna
- 39:04Speaker 1: make you know that that crimon glaze that french S
- 39:06Speaker 1: thoughts that you can make and you gotta cook it
- 39:08Speaker 1: over the store for a long time. We're not doing
- 39:10Speaker 1: that melt some vanilla ice cream, add a shot of
- 39:12Speaker 1: bourbon to it, and when people start spooning out their
- 39:15Speaker 1: bread pudding, just drive a little bit of that on tops.
- 39:18Speaker 1: You get that shot of that bourbon creaminess of the
- 39:21Speaker 1: vanilla ice cream and then that deliciously sweet golden brown
- 39:25Speaker 1: bread pudding. Now that don't make you hungry right now,
- 39:28Speaker 1: something's wrong, but it makes me hunger. It makes me mad. Now,
- 39:31Speaker 1: don't get mad. I get mad. Now. First of all,
- 39:33Speaker 1: our fans are listening to this, so I gotta do
- 39:36Speaker 1: like the television show, Are you gonna send a photo
- 39:39Speaker 1: of the dessert and a recipe so I can post
- 39:41Speaker 1: this on social media. Would this be your Wednesday post
- 39:43Speaker 1: this week? I will make sure that this is my
- 39:44Speaker 1: Wednesday post. I would not tease your listeners and not
- 39:47Speaker 1: give them this. This as the Wednesday post. So everybody
- 39:50Speaker 1: can make the sweet potato bread pudding for their family.
- 39:53Speaker 1: And you add that little shot of bourbon and then
- 39:55Speaker 1: right a thing, little I see the worst shot. You
- 39:59Speaker 1: gotta be everybody. Some people shots different shots that don't
- 40:02Speaker 1: make a soggy don't make a soggy, not don't make
- 40:04Speaker 1: a soggy and you don't want to be tipsy and say,
- 40:07Speaker 1: Chef Jamiga did it? Chef? I love you, I love you,
- 40:10Speaker 1: and happy Thanksgiving? Everybody, get yourself together, plan prepping party.

- 44:23Speaker 1: I can only imagine at this place. Please welcome the
- 44:26Speaker 1: money making conversation. This dynamic duo known as David and
- 44:30Speaker 1: Tamila Man good this morning. You know what I'm saying, Taba,
- 44:38Speaker 1: I gotta give you love, you know, David, o't that
- 44:41Speaker 1: you know? Give us a little couple of credits out there?
- 44:43Speaker 1: I got it hit everybody though, who Tabla is ain't doing?
- 44:51Speaker 1: Ain't doing? David Man, we are excellent. I'll preach you well.
- 45:03Speaker 1: You're you're You're fantastic. And you guys have always been
- 45:05Speaker 1: there for me, uh with Steve and I was doing
- 45:08Speaker 1: the Neighborhod Awards. Anytime we called to do anything, you
- 45:10Speaker 1: guys have been there rescuing it. With a strong faith
- 45:13Speaker 1: and commitment and uh and you and you value your fans.
- 45:17Speaker 1: And that's what I really liked about it, about your
- 45:19Speaker 1: career and what you've done. And I've known you guys
- 45:22Speaker 1: know a long time now over twenty years and so
- 45:26Speaker 1: and you guys have been consistent and I've seen you grown.
- 45:28Speaker 1: But one of the things I wanted to talk about,
- 45:30Speaker 1: and you know, not jokingly, only I could you know,
- 45:32Speaker 1: I can jokingly talk about David and Tamil's career because
- 45:35Speaker 1: both of them have phenomenal careers as singers and actors.
- 45:39Speaker 1: And David, he decided one that he gonna do stand up.
- 45:42Speaker 1: That's how talented he is. He's just gonna decide on
- 45:46Speaker 1: his reality show, I'm gonna do stand up, right, you
- 45:52Speaker 1: try anything, but no, no, no, no no. But then
- 45:55Speaker 1: he gonna go on tour. Though you don't do it,
- 46:01Speaker 1: do it, do it and not afraid to do make it.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Got to make it, do to do you get a
- 46:06Speaker 1: lot of keys. But here's the thing about it. What
- 46:10Speaker 1: I want to talk about on the show, because I
- 46:12Speaker 1: was talking my show is about entrepreneurship, Tomline, David, and
- 46:16Speaker 1: you know, in this business, you come you come in
- 46:18Speaker 1: based on your talent, okay, and and God that given
- 46:22Speaker 1: both of you, individual to individual, tremendous amount of talent.
- 46:25Speaker 1: But I see over the years you're starting to control
- 46:29Speaker 1: your own destiny, okay. And if you can talk to
- 46:32Speaker 1: us a little bit about that. And when did it
- 46:34Speaker 1: really make you realize that you know that you can
- 46:37Speaker 1: actually book yourself, you can actually create your own music
- 46:41Speaker 1: production company. When did all that started to fall in place? Uh?
- 46:46Speaker 1: You know, we kind of started back in I think
- 46:48Speaker 1: we did our first album in two thousand four, right
- 46:50Speaker 1: there somewhere in there. And it's because we've seen how
- 46:55Speaker 1: the labels were treating artists, and it was like, you know,
- 46:59Speaker 1: I know how to do music. I know that Tamila
- 47:02Speaker 1: as one of those going with the voices. So it
- 47:05Speaker 1: was just like, let's do our own you know. At first, now,
- 47:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you, at first, dam was like I
- 47:12Speaker 1: ain't having that. She was like, I'm not finished being
- 47:16Speaker 1: no solo album by myself and go out there by herself.
- 47:20Speaker 1: But I just believed in so much in what we had.
- 47:24Speaker 1: I just said, let's put the music together and put
- 47:26Speaker 1: it out there and it's such good people will buy it.
- 47:29Speaker 1: People will you know, we love it, so we just
- 47:31Speaker 1: decided to create our own and I just believe in ownership.
- 47:35Speaker 1: And you know, seeing you guys, guys like you who
- 47:39Speaker 1: started to control their own narrative in this business and
- 47:43Speaker 1: not allow people to tell you that you can do this,
- 47:46Speaker 1: you can't do that, and that's you know, having good
- 47:48Speaker 1: examples like that helped as well. Well, you know, it's important.
- 47:52Speaker 1: And thank you for that compliment because I always tell
- 47:54Speaker 1: people I didn't know. I didn't there was no blueprint
- 47:58Speaker 1: and and I and guess what was our raid? Was
- 48:00Speaker 1: Steve Harvier afraid? Yeah, because unknown makes you're afraid, but
- 48:04Speaker 1: you have to walk past it. What you say, I
- 48:09Speaker 1: was just about to see, you have to do it afraid,
- 48:12Speaker 1: and that's what that's that's what you guys did, and
- 48:14Speaker 1: that's what I I'm just seen that develop over the
- 48:17Speaker 1: years with with this. And I look at the month
- 48:19Speaker 1: of November and you guys, uh, that's a Thanksgiving month
- 48:22Speaker 1: for the Man family. In the month of November, you
- 48:24Speaker 1: have two big projects coming out of November. You have
- 48:28Speaker 1: the about the US Against the World, Secrets to our
- 48:32Speaker 1: Married Love, marriage and Family. What would be a book
- 48:34Speaker 1: available November that would be on Harper Comics. Correct, that's
- 48:39Speaker 1: the one I want to get a copy of so
- 48:40Speaker 1: I can give it to my fans, and then your
- 48:43Speaker 1: first Then the album drops Us against the World, The
- 48:46Speaker 1: Love Project drops November night. First, let's talk about the
- 48:49Speaker 1: album because last time he was on my show earlier
- 48:52Speaker 1: in the year, we talked about that. Now we were
- 48:54Speaker 1: it's October, November's next month is about to happen, and
- 48:58Speaker 1: any hiccups? Is it where you wanted to be? Is
- 49:00Speaker 1: everything timing out like you wanted to want it to happen.
- 49:05Speaker 1: What's happening is it's a lot. We put so much
- 49:08Speaker 1: at one time where the body can't keep up with
- 49:10Speaker 1: the work. But I mean we've I've really enjoyed it
- 49:16Speaker 1: to be in the studio with David again after over
- 49:22Speaker 1: fifteen years, because it's not about I've been pulling teeth
- 49:25Speaker 1: with him to sing with me on my records, and
- 49:28Speaker 1: he was like, every time it's time for him to
- 49:30Speaker 1: do it. The studio sessions, we find something to do.
- 49:34Speaker 1: We just hold on, hold on, hold up. That I
- 49:37Speaker 1: would be you know that David can sing a j David.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I know I would joke around about his singing. He
- 49:42Speaker 1: could sing that but you know, Tamla, you can sing,
- 49:46Speaker 1: and that's why it was so difficult for me to
- 49:49Speaker 1: go on. So I thought she was gonna be on
- 49:51Speaker 1: my very It's very intimidating to sing with Tamela. Man,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you know, it's like I know how to the thing.
- 50:00Speaker 1: It it's not for you. It's not for you because
- 50:03Speaker 1: it's you. But the team that we put together, the
- 50:08Speaker 1: writing team that my friend David J put together for
- 50:11Speaker 1: this whole project, they Taylor made the song and the
- 50:15Speaker 1: lyrics everything just for me. So it made it comfortable.
- 50:20Speaker 1: I mean, they made it very comfortable for us to
- 50:23Speaker 1: get go in and do the music. So that's what
- 50:26Speaker 1: made it easy for me because at first I was
- 50:28Speaker 1: I was shaking in my boost that first I've seen
- 50:34Speaker 1: an acapella. I've seen her acapella. Okay, bring down the house.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Two people, just throw hard mic on the front row.
- 50:41Speaker 1: She get up like you know know that you don't
- 50:43Speaker 1: even do the me me me, me, oh children do
- 50:46Speaker 1: the scales. She don't do nothing. David, do this, do this,
- 50:54Speaker 1: everybody this our challenge. You go oh just Steve. I
- 50:57Speaker 1: would just give her the mike right just saying she
- 51:00Speaker 1: on like oh me oh it's too late at night.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Oh it's too She don't do that. She don't do that.
- 51:07Speaker 1: She just starts singing, just singing. So I understand you've
- 51:10Speaker 1: being intimidated. After all those credits, I just read they
- 51:15Speaker 1: are important enough to say we're gonna put them on
- 51:17Speaker 1: this big screen. And that's how that's the talent you
- 51:22Speaker 1: got it. That's that's why you gotta go see this show.
- 51:24Speaker 1: You gotta go see the show because they're very special.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Tell us exactly how the show starts. What's all happening
- 51:30Speaker 1: in the show and hide ends? Cause you David the
- 51:32Speaker 1: time looking you tell me how that works. It starts
- 51:37Speaker 1: with the whole family on stage and we do this
- 51:40Speaker 1: big number, this number called Us against the World. Is
- 51:43Speaker 1: that you know there's it's the title song to the album.
- 51:46Speaker 1: It's called Us against the World. So the whole family
- 51:48Speaker 1: does the US against the World sones and then David
- 51:52Speaker 1: comes out, David Jr. Comes out and had this big,
- 51:55Speaker 1: huge party. We were in rehearsal last night and I
- 51:58Speaker 1: just heard is DJ it y'all? This boy is rocking
- 52:03Speaker 1: the plays party having to play going. Then my daughter
- 52:07Speaker 1: Tia is doing a tribute. I don't know if I
- 52:09Speaker 1: want to give away her tribute. I'm gonna tell it anyway.
- 52:14Speaker 1: He's doing this really good tribute to Arita Franklin. It's
- 52:18Speaker 1: a queen and it's a it's a really heartfelt tribute
- 52:22Speaker 1: that she's doing. And then I come out and do
- 52:24Speaker 1: stand us. Then Tabola comes out after immunition and just
- 52:28Speaker 1: takes us the church for a second, and we interrupt
- 52:30Speaker 1: the whole show to encourage families, encouraged couples with the
- 52:35Speaker 1: love set. And then in the middle of that, I'm
- 52:39Speaker 1: gonna tell you what happened to me yesterday in rehearsals
- 52:42Speaker 1: from this love set. It had me crying. She looked up.
- 52:46Speaker 1: She said, Babe, you can't do that because if I
- 52:48Speaker 1: look down the crying, I'm gonna be done. You said,
- 52:54Speaker 1: the crying like that, I'm gonna start crying. And then
- 52:58Speaker 1: Tam just took us straight out to church who were
- 53:01Speaker 1: in rehearsal. It was the people that were working at
- 53:05Speaker 1: the theater where we were rehearsing yesterday that will cry.
- 53:08Speaker 1: So it's that kind of movie. That's the whole show
- 53:10Speaker 1: right there. I just laid it out to you. Well,
- 53:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you, you know, I'm gonna be there.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Like I said, if I'm gonna if I'm gonna see
- 53:17Speaker 1: you for almost four or five days, I'm gonna have
- 53:19Speaker 1: to hug you. And don't give Rashaw McDonald no ticket.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Don't give me no ticket. I'm buying my ticket, okay,
- 53:24Speaker 1: because I support I believe, I believe in the Man's
- 53:29Speaker 1: I believe in the Man's now. I believe in the Man.
- 53:32Speaker 1: And just let me just recap everything to the everybody's listening. No,
- 53:36Speaker 1: remember nine the album drops us against the world. The
- 53:39Speaker 1: Love Project, The Man Family Tour will be in town.

- 53:54Speaker 1: gotta support you too. We love you. We look for things. Yeah,
- 54:01Speaker 1: we sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a
- 54:03Speaker 1: lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me
- 54:06Speaker 1: for my credit card debt and I blamed him for
- 54:08Speaker 1: building that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming
- 54:12Speaker 1: each other, did our homework and read that a smart
- 54:14Speaker 1: way to consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan.
- 54:17Speaker 1: But getting a loan was brutal and a time drain.
- 54:20Speaker 1: So I was in my man cave researching personal loans
- 54:23Speaker 1: and I found best Egg. They have an A plus
