- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome.
- 0:01Speaker 2: It is Verdict with center, Ted Cruz Ben Ferguson with
- 0:04Speaker 2: you live from the Republican National Convention, and we've got
- 0:09Speaker 2: an audience out there.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I love it.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Senator, this is the first morning I have ever woken
- 0:17Speaker 2: up truly believing that Joe Biden is going to drop
- 0:22Speaker 2: out of this presidential race. I've never believed it was
- 0:26Speaker 2: possible before this morning. I want to get your initial
- 0:30Speaker 2: reaction to that.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Well, listen, if only someone could have predicted that before
- 0:33Speaker 3: this week, I know, right. So, for regular Verdict listeners,
- 0:37Speaker 3: you will recall that this podcast ten months ago, ten
- 0:42Speaker 3: months ago, we predicted that Joe Biden would drop out
- 0:45Speaker 3: of this race, that the Democrats would throw him out.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And we predicted ten months ago that he'd be replaced
- 0:50Speaker 3: by Michelle Obama.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:51Speaker 3: And at the time, the corporate media treated that prediction
- 0:55Speaker 3: as utter moon bat insanity, insanity that like complete deltely nuts.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Do we want a prize for ten months ago? By
- 1:03Speaker 2: the way, I got to give you the brainchild of
- 1:04Speaker 2: it ten months ago, I'll.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Give you full credit. Did we get a prize for that?
- 1:07Speaker 3: I think we certainly should get a prize. But look,
- 1:10Speaker 3: I think it's going to happen. I think it is
- 1:12Speaker 3: going to happen within the next week. And we have
- 1:16Speaker 3: seen we've seen the momentum building and building and building.
- 1:22Speaker 3: And look, I got to tell you, and you and
- 1:23Speaker 3: I have talked about this. I have mixed sentiments at
- 1:25Speaker 3: this convention. On one side, I am thrilled. I'm excited
- 1:31Speaker 3: because the party is unified. It's unified at a level
- 1:34Speaker 3: I've never seen. I've been to a lot.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Of conveen a lot of conventions. What was your first one?
- 1:38Speaker 3: Nineteen ninety two. I was at nineteen ninety two. I
- 1:41Speaker 3: had just graduated from college. I was twenty one years old.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Nineteen ninety two, was in Houston.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Oh, there you go.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And it was actually it was the last public speech
- 1:51Speaker 3: Ronald Reagan ever gave. And actually just after the convention
- 1:54Speaker 3: they announced he had alzheimer, so it was his last
- 1:56Speaker 3: public address.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And so for his speech, it was very cool.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Texas Delation was in front because it was in Houston,
- 2:02Speaker 3: and they decided they wanted all the college kids down front.
- 2:05Speaker 3: They wanted to show that the Republican Party is young
- 2:08Speaker 3: and vibrant. So all the college kids we were in
- 2:10Speaker 3: that we were put up front. So I was in
- 2:11Speaker 3: the front row for Reagan's last public address.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I'm jealous.
- 2:15Speaker 3: And here's something really cool. At the time, Heidi was
- 2:19Speaker 3: in college. She was at Claremont McKenna. She was the
- 2:21Speaker 3: president of the College Republicans at Claremont McKenna out in California.
- 2:25Speaker 3: She was at the convention and she was in the
- 2:27Speaker 3: front row with the Texas delegation.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And we didn't meet. I said, did you meet? No,
- 2:31Speaker 1: we didn't meet until eight years later. Wow.
- 2:33Speaker 3: But every time I see photographs of that convention, I
- 2:35Speaker 3: like scan them to see if someone somehow got a
- 2:37Speaker 3: picture of Heidie and me standing near each other, because
- 2:40Speaker 3: we were very close to each other. So the point is,
- 2:43Speaker 3: I've been to a lot of these I have never
- 2:45Speaker 3: seen unity like this last couple of days. As you know,
- 2:49Speaker 3: I've done a ton of media interviews and you listen
- 2:51Speaker 3: to the reporters.
- 2:52Speaker 1: They're losing their minds. They're so unhappy.
- 2:54Speaker 3: They're like, you guys are soifide yea, and they're furious.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I don't like it.
- 3:00Speaker 2: We know how to screw things up well in the
- 3:02Speaker 2: Republican Party when it comes to unity, this does feel
- 3:05Speaker 2: very different.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Everyone is on the same page. Everyone is united. Everyone
- 3:09Speaker 3: wants Trump to win in November. Everyone wants to win
- 3:12Speaker 3: the Senate, everyone wants to win the House. But you
- 3:15Speaker 3: and I have also talked about this. I'll tell you
- 3:17Speaker 3: what I'm scared about. I'm scared about overconfidence.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Look, there is an aspect of this convention that feels
- 3:25Speaker 3: like a celebration, and I get that. But my message
- 3:29Speaker 3: to everyone at this convention is it is not time
- 3:32Speaker 3: to celebrate. We'll celebrate after election day. We need work
- 3:36Speaker 3: to do. We have a job in front of us,
- 3:39Speaker 3: and listen, I think we're going to come out of
- 3:41Speaker 3: this convention. I think we'll see a bounce in the polls,
- 3:44Speaker 3: and then I think within days or even hours, the
- 3:49Speaker 3: Democrats are going to announce Joe Biden is no longer
- 3:52Speaker 3: our nominee. They're going to pull them off, and the
- 3:55Speaker 3: media is going to reset the entire race. They're going
- 3:58Speaker 3: to do everything they can to take away the momentum
- 4:00Speaker 3: from this convention, and so nobody here should get over
- 4:03Speaker 3: confident because this becomes very, very dangerous, and the media
- 4:08Speaker 3: is going to do everything they can to say, well,
- 4:10Speaker 3: Joe was old, but now we're going to replace them
- 4:12Speaker 3: with someone young.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Everything solved, Move on forward.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I'm going to get more of this, but first let
- 4:17Speaker 2: me tell you about my friends over at Patriot Mobile.
- 4:19Speaker 2: For more than ten years now, Patriot Mobile has been
- 4:21Speaker 2: America's only conservative, Christian wireless provider. And that should matter
- 4:26Speaker 2: to you because if you're with Big Mobile, you're giving
- 4:29Speaker 2: big donations to the Democratic Party candidates, causes and organizations
- 4:34Speaker 2: are supporting the radical left, including major donations to Plan Parenthood.
- 4:40Speaker 2: That is why Patriot Mobiles started more than a decade
- 4:43Speaker 2: ago by a group of conservatives that were sick and
- 4:46Speaker 2: tired of giving their money to companies that were fighting
- 4:48Speaker 2: against their family values. Now, switching your cell phone has
- 4:52Speaker 2: never been easier in twenty twenty four. I just did
- 4:55Speaker 2: one recently, and I did it all over the phone.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I got to keep my same cell phone number. I
- 5:00Speaker 2: got to keep my same phone. You can do that
- 5:03Speaker 2: or upgrade to a new phone, but it's done all
- 5:05Speaker 2: over the phone. And you may say, well, I'm just
- 5:07Speaker 2: worried about coverage. I'm happy with that I have. Well,
- 5:10Speaker 2: in twenty twenty four, everybody or everybody is using the
- 5:13Speaker 2: same towers. Now you're going to have the same coverage
- 5:16Speaker 2: that you're used to without supporting the radical lefts agenda.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And then there's the big perk.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Every month, Patriot Mobile takes about five percent of your
- 5:25Speaker 2: bill at no additional costs to you, and they give
- 5:29Speaker 2: it back to conservative causes and organizations that fight for
- 5:33Speaker 2: free speech, religious freedom, the sanctity of life, the Second Amendment,
- 5:37Speaker 2: as well as our military, our veterans, and our first
- 5:41Speaker 2: responder heroes. They're one hundred percent US based customer service
- 5:45Speaker 2: team makes switching easy. So call them and I'm going
- 5:49Speaker 2: to get your free activation when you use the promo
- 5:50Speaker 2: code Ben. Just go to Patriotmobile dot com slash Ben,
- 5:55Speaker 2: Patriot Mobile dot com slash Ben, or call them right
- 5:59Speaker 2: now and make the witch nine seven to two Patriot.
- 6:02Speaker 2: That's nine seven to two Patriot, nine seven to two Patriot.
- 6:07Speaker 1: The media has already started to write the obituary earlier
- 6:09Speaker 1: today MSNBC. It helped because he's been dead for three
- 6:12Speaker 1: d very true.
- 6:15Speaker 2: They said on I want you to listen to his
- 6:17Speaker 2: clip because it's an interesting clip. And they said on
- 6:20Speaker 2: MSNBC they're so ready to be done with him. They said,
- 6:23Speaker 2: Joe Biden obviously as COVID and they said he is
- 6:27Speaker 2: quote self isolating, both medically.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And politically.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Listen, get up the dat though with what's happened happening
- 6:37Speaker 4: in Milwaukee.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Also what you're hearing from the Biden campaign.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll start with the Biden campaign, Joe, and exactly
- 6:47Speaker 4: right about the sequencing. So on your air, I talked
- 6:50Speaker 4: about the fact three weeks ago that there was an
- 6:53Speaker 4: effort among top Democrats to give President Biden the chance
- 6:57Speaker 4: to walk off the stage. They said, he is proud,
- 7:01Speaker 4: he's stubborn, we love him, we appreciate him, we want
- 7:05Speaker 4: to give him the chance to walk off the stage.
- 7:08Speaker 4: President Biden, in the view of these top Democrats, did
- 7:11Speaker 4: not take the hint and the way that one top Democrat,
- 7:15Speaker 4: someone very close to the West wing, put it to
- 7:18Speaker 4: me Sunday as I sat here on the floor of
- 7:21Speaker 4: this hall with my laptop doing reporting at the Republican
- 7:25Speaker 4: Convention about what was happening in the Democratic Party. They said,
- 7:29Speaker 4: we don't want to humiliate him. That was the effort.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Then we saw this sequence yesterday and is my brilliant
- 7:38Speaker 4: colleague Zach Bossu puts it at the top of Axios
- 7:42Speaker 4: this morning. President Biden is now self isolating, both medically
- 7:47Speaker 4: and politically.
- 7:50Speaker 1: I mean, that's an obituary to his entire career.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And he says, what we've seen, Let's talk about what
- 7:55Speaker 2: we've seen. Every aspect of the Democratic Party has now
- 8:00Speaker 2: run him entirely, turn on him completely. Yep, you've got
- 8:03Speaker 2: the Clintons. They're saying you're done, the Obama's saying you're done,
- 8:07Speaker 2: Schumer saying you're done, Pelosi saying you're done, Jeffreys saying
- 8:11Speaker 2: you're done, Holly media saying you're done, the donors saying
- 8:14Speaker 2: you're done, Hollywood saying you're done.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Everyone, How the hell does this guy? He won't survive this,
- 8:19Speaker 1: he doesn't.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And look, you and I we predicted this ten months ago,
- 8:25Speaker 3: and then the night of the debate. You and I
- 8:28Speaker 3: did a podcast the night of the debate, immediately after
- 8:31Speaker 3: the debate, and I said that night, Biden's done.
- 8:34Speaker 1: He is no longer the nominee. He will be chased out.
- 8:37Speaker 3: It'll take a few weeks for it to happen, but
- 8:39Speaker 3: this is what's going to happen. Why, because the Democrats
- 8:43Speaker 3: are terrified they're going to lose. Now, it's worth noting
- 8:45Speaker 3: none of them care that we have a commander in
- 8:48Speaker 3: chief right now with dementia. Has a single Democrat said, well, gosh,
- 8:53Speaker 3: if he's so mentally diminished, he needs to resign as president.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Nobody said that, not a single Democrat. Apparently they're fine
- 9:00Speaker 3: with him having his finger on the button. Now, mind you,
- 9:03Speaker 3: there comes a point where you take the keys away
- 9:05Speaker 3: from grandpa.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yes, but it's even.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Scary if the keys are attached to ICBMs. Yes, but
- 9:10Speaker 3: the Democrats aren't doing that. The only reason they're bailing
- 9:13Speaker 3: on Biden is because the American people in the debate
- 9:17Speaker 3: saw that and said, holy crap, that man can't tie
- 9:19Speaker 3: his shoes and we're gonna lose. And they're suddenly protecting
- 9:23Speaker 3: their rear end. Now, when you and I have been
- 9:25Speaker 3: predicting it, people have asked, how does this happen?
- 9:28Speaker 1: And you go back, go back to Richard Nixon.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yep, when Richard Nixon stepped down, listen, he didn't do
- 9:33Speaker 3: so because he just said, well, gosh, I want to leave.
- 9:35Speaker 3: He did so because a half dozen old bulls from
- 9:39Speaker 3: the Senate, old Republican senators, went to the Oval office
- 9:41Speaker 3: and they said, mister president, you're done, and he resisted.
- 9:46Speaker 3: And let's be clear, they didn't just rely on persuasion.
- 9:50Speaker 3: They said, if you don't resign, the House is going
- 9:53Speaker 3: to impeach you and we're going to convict you. So
- 9:55Speaker 3: you will be removed. And your only choice is do
- 9:58Speaker 3: you want to do it? Volunteers earlier, do you want
- 10:00Speaker 3: us to throw yet of office? And that ultimately led
- 10:04Speaker 3: to the president presidentigning. Now, in this situation, we've seen
- 10:10Speaker 3: the equivalent of the old bulls, the gray beards of
- 10:13Speaker 3: the Democrat Party. All of the constituent groups, one after
- 10:16Speaker 3: the other after the other, go to Biden say get
- 10:17Speaker 3: out and get out, get out. They initially did so quietly.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Quietly didn't work. They then have done so more and
- 10:23Speaker 3: more publicly. And by the way, if Biden were to
- 10:26Speaker 3: dig in, if he were to say I don't care,
- 10:28Speaker 3: I'm not going, they have a hammer. Twenty fifth the
- 10:33Speaker 3: twenty fifth Amendment. I understand how the twenty fifth Amendment works.
- 10:36Speaker 3: All it takes is the vice president and a majority
- 10:39Speaker 3: of the cabinet, and the vice president of the majority
- 10:42Speaker 3: of the cabinet if they sign a letter declaring that
- 10:45Speaker 3: the president is unfit for office.
- 10:46Speaker 1: He is removed from office instantly. Instantly.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Now he can file a letter saying no, I am
- 10:52Speaker 3: fit for office. And then it goes to Congress and
- 10:54Speaker 3: it takes two thirds of both houses. But you know what,
- 10:56Speaker 3: Pelosi's turned on him, Schumer's turned on him. The Democrats
- 10:59Speaker 3: are terrified.
- 11:00Speaker 2: But accept it is what you're saying. Yes, So let
- 11:03Speaker 2: me ask you this. If he doesn't drop out, it's.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Not going to come to that.
- 11:07Speaker 3: He's going to I don't think it's going to come
- 11:10Speaker 3: to that. But that's the hammer that they don't want
- 11:13Speaker 3: to threaten that. And and look the whole line about
- 11:15Speaker 3: about dignity. They don't want to have to threaten that.
- 11:19Speaker 3: But he is gone, and and so and and in
- 11:22Speaker 3: my view, there's lots of speculation about about who the
- 11:25Speaker 3: replacement will be. I believe the replacement will be one
- 11:27Speaker 3: of two human beings. It will either be Kamala Harris
- 11:33Speaker 3: or it will be Michelle Obama. Those are the only
- 11:36Speaker 3: two human beings I believe that will be at the
- 11:38Speaker 3: top of the take.
- 11:38Speaker 2: And if Kamala gets it, it's only because of logistics.
- 11:42Speaker 3: So actually, I think the logistics argument is completely overstated.
- 11:46Speaker 2: So explain that. Let's let's explain the people the logistics argument,
- 11:48Speaker 2: the argument that the argument.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Is well, hold hold on.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Before we do that, let me explain why it's Kamala
- 11:53Speaker 3: or Michelle Kamala is next in line. Now, a lot
- 11:57Speaker 3: of Democrats recognize that Kamala has imitations as a candidate,
- 12:01Speaker 3: and so there's some Democrats that are like, oh, what
- 12:03Speaker 3: are we doing? So you people hear people talking about
- 12:05Speaker 3: Gavin Newsom. I think the chances that Gavin Newsom is
- 12:08Speaker 3: at the top of the ticket are zero point zero
- 12:11Speaker 3: zero percent. And the reason why it's not complicated the
- 12:15Speaker 3: Democrat Party is com structurally unable to push aside an
- 12:20Speaker 3: African American woman and replace her with a white guy
- 12:23Speaker 3: like their party would implode.
- 12:25Speaker 1: They would.
- 12:26Speaker 3: I mean you talk about civil wars, they would have
- 12:28Speaker 3: a civil war with Muskets, like a literal civil war.
- 12:31Speaker 3: They can't do that, which means all of the names
- 12:34Speaker 3: bannied about, none of them. You could have a primary
- 12:37Speaker 3: and someone defeats her, but if it's anointing in a successor,
- 12:40Speaker 3: I don't believe their party can do that, which means
- 12:43Speaker 3: the only human being on planet Earth who could push
- 12:45Speaker 3: kamalocide is Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama is obviously also an
- 12:50Speaker 3: African American woman, but an African American woman with much
- 12:52Speaker 3: higher approval ratings. And I think a much more dangerous
- 12:56Speaker 3: candidate ten months ago, I said, and I still say
- 12:58Speaker 3: it today. If I were a Democrat, I would be
- 13:01Speaker 3: all in. I would be begging Michelle because I got
- 13:05Speaker 3: to tell you, look, sitting here as a Republican who
- 13:07Speaker 3: desperately wants us to win in November. That scares the
- 13:10Speaker 3: living daylights out of me. If Michelle is the nominee,
- 13:13Speaker 3: it is dangerous and everyone here better understand we're in
- 13:16Speaker 3: for the fight of our life if it's her. Now,
- 13:19Speaker 3: what is interesting is how much the Democrat Party is
- 13:22Speaker 3: circling the wagons behind Kamala.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And I think Kamala has risen.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Is that because it's easier logistically, That's where I asked
- 13:29Speaker 2: that question, because the money's there, the campaign's there, it's seamless.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's just multedash, complete nonsense.
- 13:36Speaker 3: So people are saying, oh, well, Kamala is the only
- 13:39Speaker 3: one who can access the money Biden Harris's raise, and
- 13:42Speaker 3: so that's why they'll do it.
- 13:44Speaker 1: What uttered look, imagine because that's what everybody's saying.
- 13:48Speaker 3: But everyone's saying it, anyone's meaning true. It doesn't actually
- 13:52Speaker 3: hasn't run a presidential campaign. It doesn't know how things operate.
- 13:56Speaker 3: It's true Michelle Obama can't access the money, and the
- 13:59Speaker 3: Biden calls. What happens the day Michelle Obamas announces the nominee.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm assuming they would start the campaign, start raising money.
- 14:07Speaker 3: And every Democrat, every grassroots Democrat, every activist, every donor
- 14:12Speaker 3: is suddenly goes from despondency, depression, despair, their resigned crap,
- 14:18Speaker 3: we're gonna lose, crap's Trump's gonna be president. We're gonna
- 14:21Speaker 3: lose the Senate, We're gonna lose the House. They're in misery,
- 14:23Speaker 3: and they wake up and hallelujah, hallelujah. Michelle Obama is
- 14:27Speaker 3: riding in to save the day.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And a billion dollars of free press.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And they would raise a billion dollars within three weeks.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Every Democrat billionaire goes, holy crap, we've saved the world.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Get me my checkbook, and we're talking. Michelle would raise
- 14:42Speaker 3: it in one hundred million dollar chunks.
- 14:45Speaker 1: There is no money problem. Plus all the free media.
- 14:48Speaker 3: And the free media, so it is massive. The only
- 14:51Speaker 3: thing that can save us from that is if Michelle
- 14:53Speaker 3: says no, and I am praying. Look, Michelle, you and
- 14:57Speaker 3: I are not close. To put it mildly, but I
- 15:00Speaker 3: just want to say, man, you got a good life.
- 15:03Speaker 3: You're kicking back. Martha's vineyard is really nice in the summertime.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I'm told I don't. I've never been there, but I'm
- 15:09Speaker 3: told it's nice. Like you're kicking back, You're sipping charnay,
- 15:14Speaker 3: You're on a yacht, you're on a private jet, You're
- 15:17Speaker 3: paling around with movie stars.
- 15:19Speaker 1: People loves you. You don't want to deal with the pesky.
- 15:23Speaker 1: You don't want to deal with us. You don't want
- 15:25Speaker 1: to deal with politicians. You can't stand us.
- 15:28Speaker 3: So just live your life as a movie star at
- 15:32Speaker 3: a celebrity and don't bother with the gritty mess.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Now. I don't know if that's persuasive to her or not.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I will tell you.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I've heard people say confidently, Michelle doesn't want it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Maybe, And here's why I say maybe.
- 15:48Speaker 3: When they say Michelle doesn't want if they say, well,
- 15:50Speaker 3: she said she didn't want it, Okay, Well, you know politicians,
- 15:52Speaker 3: you could always believe what they say, Like when they
- 15:55Speaker 3: say they don't want something, it's always telling the truth.
- 15:57Speaker 1: But they don't want it. I don't want it, but
- 15:59Speaker 1: I do get to be on Air Force one when
- 16:00Speaker 1: I want it.
- 16:02Speaker 3: So they base it on the fact that Michelle did
- 16:04Speaker 3: not run in twenty twenty. Well, that's true, but it
- 16:08Speaker 3: is a very different decision to say, do I want
- 16:10Speaker 3: to run for president? Do I want to spend two
- 16:12Speaker 3: years going through the muck? Do I want to go
- 16:15Speaker 3: to mary Do I want to go through every county
- 16:17Speaker 3: in Iowa? Do I want to go all over New Hampshire?
- 16:19Speaker 3: Do I want to go all over South Carolina? Do
- 16:20Speaker 3: I want to raise money? Nonstuff? Do I want to
- 16:22Speaker 3: spend two years of my life? It is all consuming
- 16:26Speaker 3: And by the way, Michelle knows it. Yeah, she's witnessed
- 16:28Speaker 3: trist She went side by side with Barox, so she
- 16:31Speaker 3: knows exactly what's entitled entailed in that. That is a
- 16:35Speaker 3: very different decision than a three months, two and a
- 16:38Speaker 3: half months coornation. Michelle, we will have a coronation, everyone
- 16:43Speaker 3: will sing your hosannas, we will hand you the nomination.
- 16:47Speaker 1: You'd give one speech, you'd.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Do a debate, you do a couple of rallies, and
- 16:50Speaker 3: suddenly you're President of the United States. That there are
- 16:54Speaker 3: very few people on planet Earth that if you walked
- 16:56Speaker 3: up and said, Okay, we'll make you president right now.
- 17:00Speaker 3: All right, we got a studio audience here. How many
- 17:02Speaker 3: of you would say yes if we offered you would
- 17:05Speaker 3: you like to be president? Would you say yes? If
- 17:06Speaker 3: they were okay? Right now, we're getting nods, there's like okay,
- 17:12Speaker 3: one guy said no, One guy said no, One guy
- 17:14Speaker 3: said no. Out everyone here.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He lives at Martha's vineyard. By the way, I guarantee
- 17:18Speaker 1: a guarantee.
- 17:19Speaker 3: It's an unusual cat that would say no to being
- 17:23Speaker 3: offered the coronation. So Michelle scares me. But I want
- 17:27Speaker 3: to say something else to Republicans at this convention and
- 17:29Speaker 3: across the country. Don't get over confident with Kamala everything
- 17:34Speaker 3: that you just went through. The Democratic Party is in disarray.
- 17:38Speaker 3: They're depressed, the donors are depressed. They feel like they're
- 17:41Speaker 3: about to lose.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I think anybody that gets this opportunity that could be
- 17:46Speaker 2: Kamala Harris, will reinvigorate the checkbooks, or reinvigorate the party,
- 17:52Speaker 2: or reinvigorate every candidate that's down ballot, because it's a
- 17:56Speaker 2: it's a reset button. I think the bump that we
- 17:58Speaker 2: get out of this convention could have instantly disappear with
- 18:01Speaker 2: Kamala Harris because of all of the news you're talking about,
- 18:04Speaker 2: and I think the amount of money she'll raise, but
- 18:06Speaker 2: I also think the thing is what Kamla is. She
- 18:08Speaker 2: will also get a billion dollars of free media. The
- 18:11Speaker 2: media will obsess over her. It changes the race completely.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Do you agree?
- 18:16Speaker 3: I absolutely do, and I will say, look, Republicans, people
- 18:19Speaker 3: at this convention think rightly that Kamala is a train wreck,
- 18:24Speaker 3: that she's been an absolute disaster. She's the borders are
- 18:27Speaker 3: except she only went to the border once as vice president.
- 18:30Speaker 3: She and act even go to the Rio Grand Valley.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Everything she's touched had been a disaster. She got clobber
- 18:34Speaker 3: in the Democratic primary. There are lots of reasons to
- 18:37Speaker 3: say Kamala is not very good at this, but you
- 18:40Speaker 3: made the exact right point. Imagine it with a billion
- 18:45Speaker 3: dollars of free media, with every media outlet hyperventilating saying, oh,
- 18:51Speaker 3: she's a combination of Mother Teresa, Oprah.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And Gandhi all combined.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Like you will see reporters running after her, throwing their
- 19:00Speaker 3: panties at her.
- 19:01Speaker 5: And by the way, that's just the men that those
- 19:06Speaker 5: identifies men. Let's be clear about that. Those are identify
- 19:09Speaker 5: as men, right, You never know and nowadays and it
- 19:14Speaker 5: is a dangerous thing.
- 19:16Speaker 3: So listen, I think we beat Kamala, but everyone here
- 19:19Speaker 3: needs to be aware. We're not just going against Kamala.
- 19:22Speaker 3: We're going against every corporate media outlet. We're going against
- 19:25Speaker 3: all of Hollywood. We're going against big tech, which will
- 19:29Speaker 3: elevate everything. They will do everything they can, and their
- 19:32Speaker 3: narrative will be you know what, they'll say, Biden was
- 19:36Speaker 3: a great historic president, but he got too old.
- 19:38Speaker 1: We all get too old, and we fixed that problem. Now.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Now Kamalas is young and vigorous. She smiles a lot,
- 19:45Speaker 3: she laughs and it drives us crazy. Yes, get ready
- 19:48Speaker 3: to hear that last so often. You're going you're gonna
- 19:52Speaker 3: wake up at nights screaming and hearing the cackle.
- 19:55Speaker 2: They also believe that she's going to bring women together
- 19:58Speaker 2: for two reasons. One, they're going to make Roe v.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Wade an issue again and try to really bring feminists
- 20:04Speaker 2: and women out on that. That'll be a core point
- 20:06Speaker 2: of her campaign. But two, just the overall history of
- 20:11Speaker 2: women and breaking the glass ceiling. She also is a minority. Yeah,
- 20:15Speaker 2: so you would have a minority female who would make
- 20:19Speaker 2: history while in re engaging women voters in the Democratic
- 20:24Speaker 2: Party and women that maybe are swing voters.
- 20:27Speaker 1: I think that's actually very, very dangerous.
- 20:30Speaker 3: It is exceptionally dangerous. And let's complicate it a little more.
- 20:34Speaker 3: If it is Michelle, if it is Kamala, who's the VP.
- 20:38Speaker 2: It's a great question. I honestly have not thought about
- 20:41Speaker 2: it much. I say that Here's why. I'm like, do
- 20:44Speaker 2: you pick a man? Do you pick another woman? Do
- 20:47Speaker 2: you pick someone that's young? Do you pick someone that's
- 20:50Speaker 2: older that's not a threat to you if you don't
- 20:52Speaker 2: do well in four years? I mean, I've been so
- 20:54Speaker 2: focused on Joe Biden, and I'm going who's on the
- 20:57Speaker 2: short list?
- 20:58Speaker 1: I don't know if they would even know who they're
- 20:59Speaker 1: short yet. Who do you have? Yeah, so I have
- 21:01Speaker 1: a couple of thoughts.
- 21:02Speaker 3: One possibility that is a real possibility is Gavin Newsom.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I don't believe Gavin Newsom could be at the top
- 21:09Speaker 3: of the ticket, but I believe he would be a
- 21:10Speaker 3: very credible fundraiser VP choice for either either Michelle or
- 21:16Speaker 3: Commo that that that is a VP choice, and mostly
- 21:19Speaker 3: Newsome comes with with with just a crap ton of
- 21:22Speaker 3: California monds. And he's a good looking guy. He's smooth,
- 21:25Speaker 3: he's slick. Gavin Newsom reminds me of the comment about
- 21:28Speaker 3: Bill Clinton. He's an unusually good liar, and in Democrat
- 21:33Speaker 3: politics that is a really good tribute. He is a
- 21:37Speaker 3: gifted and talented liar. Now I've also pointed out I
- 21:40Speaker 3: consider Gavin Newsom.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I I want to actually name him.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Texas Realator of the Year because nobody has sold more
- 21:48Speaker 3: homes in the state of tams than Gavin Newso, I
- 21:51Speaker 3: mean he could sell homes everywhere in Texas. But I'll
- 21:55Speaker 3: also point out, all right, so Politico Playbook, which is
- 21:59Speaker 3: every political junkie reads the playbook.
- 22:02Speaker 1: It's kind of a.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Combination of news and gossip from politics. So Playbook right
- 22:08Speaker 3: now writes about a polling memo circulating among Democratic Party
- 22:11Speaker 3: officials that argues the best chance to defeat Trump is
- 22:15Speaker 3: with a new nominee independent of the administration, in other words,
- 22:19Speaker 3: not Kamala Harris. And look, we get that Kamala in
- 22:22Speaker 3: an open field is not the most attractive political candidate
- 22:27Speaker 3: for the Democrats, but I think they're locked into her
- 22:29Speaker 3: unless Michelle is doing it. But what's interesting is what
- 22:32Speaker 3: this memo argues, and it says, based on polling of
- 22:37Speaker 3: who does well against Trump, it says the strongest candidates,
- 22:40Speaker 3: So this is polling for their presidential nominee, but it
- 22:43Speaker 3: says the strongest potential candidates are, in alphabetical order, Arizona
- 22:47Speaker 3: Senator Mark kellyp Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's the one that keeps coming in my mind. I
- 22:59Speaker 2: double women woman ticket.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Look, that is certainly a possibility. And they're different philosophies
- 23:04Speaker 3: on vps. Sometimes a president picks a VP that is different,
- 23:09Speaker 3: that that is markedly different.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Think JFK picking LBJ.
- 23:13Speaker 3: You picked kind of totally different branches of the party
- 23:16Speaker 3: to unififi them. Think Reagan picking Bush That that that
- 23:21Speaker 3: is one.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Way to do it.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Other times a nominee reinforces the strength of a candidate,
- 23:27Speaker 3: and think Bill Clinton picking Al Gore. We're both young,
- 23:31Speaker 3: relatively conservative Southern Democrats, kind of doubling down.
- 23:34Speaker 1: This is our message. I think there is a chance
- 23:37Speaker 1: they do that.
- 23:38Speaker 3: But my guess is I think the Democrats are less
- 23:42Speaker 3: likely to pick two women. I don't know this, but
- 23:44Speaker 3: but I think as I look at it, I would say.
- 23:49Speaker 1: You got to bet tonight you go with Gavin Newsom.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Or Josh Shapiro and Josh Shapiro is a they don't know,
- 23:56Speaker 3: Okay Shapiro, Josh Shapiro.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Audience has been Shapiro, not Josh Shapiro.
- 24:00Speaker 3: They will not pick Shapiro, although, boy, that would be fun.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Can Shapiro? Now that's that's a unity ticket right there, right.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Josh Shapiro is the governor of Pennsylvania. He used to
- 24:11Speaker 3: be the Attorney General of Pennsylvania. He is widely perceived
- 24:15Speaker 3: as a moderate Democrat.
- 24:16Speaker 1: He's not very moderate, but he's widely perceived as such.
- 24:19Speaker 3: He's what passes for a moderate in today's Democrat party. Now, look,
- 24:24Speaker 3: Pennsylvania is a state both sides view as very close
- 24:28Speaker 3: to must win. There are paths to getting to two
- 24:31Speaker 3: hundred and seventy electoral votes without Pennsylvania, but not many.
- 24:34Speaker 3: Pennsylvania is probably the single most contested UH swing state
- 24:39Speaker 3: in this election. Josh Shapiro is a popular governor, yep.
- 24:43Speaker 3: And a popular governor, and governors you will in that position.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Look it, I think Shapiro would be dangerous. I'd be
- 24:52Speaker 3: surprised if she picked him. But I'll tell you Mark
- 24:54Speaker 3: Kelly would be a very dangerous candidate. I know Mark well.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Mark is Look, he's a Navy veteran, he's a former astronaut.
- 25:02Speaker 3: He's a short, muscular, bald guy. And look, it's very
- 25:07Speaker 3: hard to call Mark Kelly a wuss. Yeah, Like he
- 25:12Speaker 3: seems that there's a reason that he has won decisively
- 25:16Speaker 3: at Arizona. He's also an affable guy, so he seems likable, moderate,
- 25:22Speaker 3: he seems reasonable. His voting record is terrible, but he
- 25:26Speaker 3: comes across as very He comes across like it could
- 25:29Speaker 3: be a Republican, So I could see. I doubt Mark
- 25:32Speaker 3: Kelly would be the nominee, but I could see him
- 25:35Speaker 3: being in the mix.
- 25:35Speaker 1: So I would.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Probably say Michelle slash Kamala, and I'd probably give Kamala
- 25:41Speaker 3: the edge right now.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Yep.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Part of that may be just wishful thinking. I wanted
- 25:46Speaker 3: to be Kamala, not Michelle. And in terms of the VPS,
- 25:50Speaker 3: I would say Shapiro, Newsome, Kelly, Whitmer.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Two final questions A do they delay the convention? Number
- 26:01Speaker 2: one and two if they delay the convention, will he
- 26:07Speaker 2: step down at the convention and then have that be
- 26:11Speaker 2: the media or does it come out before the convention.
- 26:14Speaker 3: All right, so the appellate lawyer and maybe has has
- 26:16Speaker 3: to say, I love that you asked A and two.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yeah, like like that's that. That's just kind of a
- 26:21Speaker 1: fun outline. You're welcome.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Just want just want to mess with you every once,
- 26:26Speaker 2: want to see if you're selling your game?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Right? A and B?
- 26:28Speaker 3: Is that better that that is? I like Roman numerals
- 26:31Speaker 3: and outline and and Z. But I'm not going to
- 26:34Speaker 3: tell you I love ven diagrams. I'm gonna leave that
- 26:36Speaker 3: to say ven diagrams make make my my cold cruel
- 26:41Speaker 3: heart go pitter pat. Look uh that I don't think
- 26:48Speaker 3: they delay the convention. They might, but I doubt it,
- 26:51Speaker 3: and they don't. Wait, I think this happens within the
- 26:54Speaker 3: next week. I think this could easily happen this weekend.
- 26:57Speaker 3: And and frankly, look, the Democrats are small by delaying
- 27:00Speaker 3: till after this convention.
- 27:02Speaker 1: This convention got happen and then kill them. A minute
- 27:04Speaker 1: has been phenomenal.
- 27:05Speaker 3: And the media will treat whoever parachutes in the media
- 27:10Speaker 3: will treat it as a brand new race, ignore anything
- 27:13Speaker 3: that happened before. We're brand new, starting over, and so
- 27:17Speaker 3: I think they want to get on with that quickly.
- 27:20Speaker 3: So my prediction, by the way, if you want to
- 27:23Speaker 3: think about momentous and historic weeks in politics. On Saturday,
- 27:30Speaker 3: the former president of the United States was shot, the
- 27:34Speaker 3: first presidential assassination attempts since nineteen eighty one. Immediately thereafter,
- 27:40Speaker 3: we've had an incredibly successful convention, We've had a vice
- 27:44Speaker 3: presidential nominee named, and it could be within a week
- 27:48Speaker 3: of that, because I could easily see it being this weekend.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Joe Biden is off the ballot, and we have a
- 27:55Speaker 3: new Democrat nominee, and there's chatter, there's some of the
- 27:58Speaker 3: pundits that are saying, oh, we ought to have it
- 28:00Speaker 3: been primary wat to have Democrats fighting are gonna happen.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I don't believe that will happen. They will coroinate and
- 28:05Speaker 3: I think it'll be one.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Of the two ben My bonus question is either three
- 28:08Speaker 2: or c depending on how you want to enlist these.
- 28:12Speaker 2: How many times will Kamala Harris or Michelle Obama debate
- 28:15Speaker 2: Donald Trump?
- 28:16Speaker 1: Once?
- 28:16Speaker 5: It will have one debate, just one debate we will
- 28:18Speaker 5: have one demand.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Could they get away with saying I'm not going to
- 28:21Speaker 2: debate now, No, even if it's Michelle.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I think they will do one debate. I think they
- 28:26Speaker 3: will feel like it's not credible if you don't do
- 28:29Speaker 3: a debate, particularly because.
- 28:31Speaker 2: If you're Trump, do you push for two? I would, yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 2: but I say it's a reset. We're doing two of
- 28:36Speaker 2: these suckers before November.
- 28:38Speaker 3: But I don't think they'll end up doing it. Look,
- 28:40Speaker 3: I think Trump may well push for two. Part of
- 28:42Speaker 3: the reason if you're a Democrat, everyone concedes. Trump mopped
- 28:45Speaker 3: the floor with Biden. I think it's a Democrat. You
- 28:48Speaker 3: don't want that to be the only debate. If you're
- 28:49Speaker 3: putting someone new, you'd need something credible. I will tell
- 28:54Speaker 3: you I just came from a meeting that the Jade
- 28:56Speaker 3: Vance met with all the senators. We're congratulating him, and
- 28:59Speaker 3: he did have a very funny thing he shared with us.
- 29:01Speaker 3: He said, you know, he was talking to to Trump about, well, okay,
- 29:05Speaker 3: who are we going to face? Is it going to
- 29:07Speaker 3: be someone new? Is it going to be Kamala? And
- 29:09Speaker 3: and and and Jad said well, well, look, mister President,
- 29:12Speaker 3: I said, yes, assuming I got to debate Tambala. If
- 29:16Speaker 3: they actually bring in someone that's a really good debater,
- 29:18Speaker 3: I may have to rethink this. And Trump said, no
- 29:21Speaker 3: backing out. You accepted the thing. You're stuck.
- 29:23Speaker 1: You're going anywhere. But look that.
- 29:28Speaker 3: I I think they'll do it fast. By the way,
- 29:32Speaker 3: I will point out the night of the debate, when
- 29:34Speaker 3: you and I did a podcast immediately thereafter, we said
- 29:37Speaker 3: that night, this is the most consequential presidential debate in
- 29:42Speaker 3: American history. And the reason we said that is because
- 29:45Speaker 3: we said, I believe this will change the names on
- 29:49Speaker 3: the ballot in November. And that has never happened. There's
- 29:51Speaker 3: never been a debate that changed the names on the ballot.
- 29:55Speaker 3: And that's exactly what that debate did. It took a
- 29:56Speaker 3: few weeks to play out. But I think it is imminent.
- 30:00Speaker 3: I think it is within days.
- 30:01Speaker 2: To everybody that's here in the hall, thank you guys
- 30:04Speaker 2: for joining us. It's nice to do a show here
- 30:07Speaker 2: live at the convention. Senator Cruise and I do this
- 30:09Speaker 2: money was a Friday hit that subscribe auto download button
- 30:13Speaker 2: wherever you are and I.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Have how do you subscribe?
- 30:16Speaker 3: Because because as you know, my dad's eighty five, my
- 30:19Speaker 3: father is my hero. But my father points out all
- 30:21Speaker 3: the time when I use the word subscribe, he says,
- 30:24Speaker 3: people my generation think magazine subscriptions.
- 30:26Speaker 1: They think you're gonna charge us, don'cost anymore, doesn't cost
- 30:29Speaker 1: any money.
- 30:30Speaker 3: And you pull so all right, a line I say
- 30:32Speaker 3: all the time on the trail, I say, if you're
- 30:33Speaker 3: under forty, subscribe to the podcast.
- 30:36Speaker 1: If you're over forty, call your.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Kids or call your grandkids and ask them to help
- 30:39Speaker 3: you subscribe to the podcast. But it's real simple, and
- 30:42Speaker 3: I see a bunch of young people there know how
- 30:44Speaker 3: to do this. And like you call your parents, call
- 30:47Speaker 3: your grandparents and say, okay, give me your phone. Actually,
- 30:49Speaker 3: don't even tell them, just just take their phone.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And say it's here.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Pull it up, pull up podcast, hit subscribe and it
- 30:56Speaker 3: magically appears. You can set it to download. It'll magically appear.
- 30:59Speaker 3: And it's every every Monday, every Wednesday, it's every Friday.
- 31:02Speaker 3: And we do this number one. If you subscribe to
- 31:06Speaker 3: the podcast, you know what's happening. We predicted this ten
- 31:09Speaker 3: months ago, and by the way, nobody else was predicting this.
- 31:11Speaker 1: We were do we get a.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Letter from the media when they thought we were moonbacks apologizing.
- 31:16Speaker 3: No, okay, But number two, this is designed to equip
- 31:21Speaker 3: you to give you the tools when you're talking to
- 31:24Speaker 3: your friends, your family, young people, when you're talking to
- 31:27Speaker 3: your classmates in school and they're arguing, and to give
- 31:29Speaker 3: you the facts that the corporate media never reports. That's
- 31:33Speaker 3: what we try to do three times a week on
- 31:35Speaker 3: this is this is what you need to know to
- 31:38Speaker 3: go and persuade and win.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And I promise we will have an emergency pod if
- 31:44Speaker 2: and when Joe Biden drops out.
- 31:48Speaker 1: That's a fair prediction, right, I think that is a
- 31:49Speaker 1: fair prediction. Grab it wherever you can.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Donald Trump's speech tonight, any any prediction last minute?
- 31:56Speaker 1: Will he needle Joe Biden?
- 31:58Speaker 3: Look, I think it is going to be substantially tamped down.
- 32:03Speaker 3: I think Saturday changed the speech. In fact, I know
- 32:05Speaker 3: Saturday changed the speech that I think prior to Saturday
- 32:09Speaker 3: the speech was going to be quite combative. And I
- 32:13Speaker 3: expect to see a lot of unity, a lot more language.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Seeking to bring people together. And look, we've seen this
- 32:21Speaker 1: throughout the convention.
- 32:23Speaker 3: We talked about we did it, did a live podcast
- 32:25Speaker 3: at the convention yesterday. I talked about when I visited
- 32:28Speaker 3: with President Trump yesterday, and I think Saturday really had
- 32:32Speaker 3: an impact on him, had an impact. I mean, he
- 32:33Speaker 3: kind of pulled me aside and said, really quietly, just
- 32:36Speaker 3: said God saved me. And it was it was quiet
- 32:41Speaker 3: and serious in a way that I think is really consequential.
- 32:45Speaker 3: And and and listen, I think it's you can't go
- 32:50Speaker 3: through what he went through Saturday, having been shot and
- 32:53Speaker 3: having been within a half inch of being killed. Amen,
- 32:58Speaker 3: without really thinking about God Almighty turning his head, because
- 33:01Speaker 3: I believe that happened. I believe it was divine providence
- 33:04Speaker 3: that turned his head. And had it been slightly one
- 33:06Speaker 3: way or the other, we would be having a dramatically
- 33:09Speaker 3: different conversation, right.
- 33:10Speaker 2: No doubt about it. Always a pleasure at the convention.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Thanks everybody that are here. We will see you back
- 33:15Speaker 2: here in a couple of days.
