Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome. It is a Verdict with Ted Cruz Weekend Review.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Ben Ferguson with you, and these are the big stories
- 0:07Speaker 1: that you may have missed that we talked about this week.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Story one a big one. Why is the media covering
- 0:13Speaker 1: for a terrorist organization Hamas and lying to you about
- 0:17Speaker 1: what Israel is doing? A perfect example is the fake
- 0:20Speaker 1: bombing of the hospital in Gaza that everyone blamed on Israel.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Story number two, Donald Trump election interference. A new gag
- 0:30Speaker 1: order has been put on the former president. How on
- 0:32Speaker 1: earth can he run in a free and fair election
- 0:35Speaker 1: if they won't let him talk or defend himself on
- 0:38Speaker 1: some of these charges. And finally, what can you do
- 0:42Speaker 1: as an American to actually help people in Israel? We
- 0:46Speaker 1: talk to someone on the ground in Israel and he
- 0:48Speaker 1: will explain exactly what the needs are. It is the
- 0:52Speaker 1: Weekend Review with Ted Cruz and it starts right now.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You know, I would like to ask MSNBC to put
- 0:58Speaker 2: out a formal statement explaining how someone who's raping a
- 1:02Speaker 2: little girl is not a bad guy, because that's apparently
- 1:05Speaker 2: their position. There are no good guys and bad guys.
- 1:06Speaker 2: You got to understand, because the Palestinians are living under
- 1:10Speaker 2: the boot of the Israeli military.
- 1:12Speaker 1: That is a lie.
- 1:14Speaker 2: That is a lie, but it's convenient propaganda. This is
- 1:19Speaker 2: the strategy. Push the lie, push the lie, put it
- 1:24Speaker 2: out there, and the reason we've devoted this entire pod
- 1:27Speaker 2: to this. More of this will come, much more. This
- 1:31Speaker 2: is just the beginning. I'm sorry to tell you. Next
- 1:34Speaker 2: week it's going to be worse, and in two weeks
- 1:36Speaker 2: it's going to be even worse, and in three weeks
- 1:38Speaker 2: it's going to be even worse than that. Because as
- 1:41Speaker 2: this war proceeds, Hamas is going to succeed in getting
- 1:46Speaker 2: Palestinian civilians killed. They want to succeed, and when they
- 1:50Speaker 2: have dead Palestinian civilians that they put in harm's way,
- 1:54Speaker 2: then all the CNN cameras are going to rush to
- 1:57Speaker 2: film the bodies and stand there and say Israel has
- 2:01Speaker 2: committed war crimes once again. Now mind you. Their alternative
- 2:05Speaker 2: is do what the Biden State Department asked them to do,
- 2:07Speaker 2: do a ceasefire. Sayta Hamas, never mind, don't know, you
- 2:11Speaker 2: can attack, you can murder one two hundred Israelis and
- 2:14Speaker 2: we'll do nothing. Because look, the objective of Hamas is
- 2:20Speaker 2: the same as the objective of anti Semites in America,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and it is to utterly destroy Israel. And these corporate
- 2:29Speaker 2: media propagandists are integral in the effort to destroy Israel.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You know, Ben, We've given several examples from MSNBC, from CNN,
- 2:40Speaker 2: and from ABC. But I don't want people to think
- 2:43Speaker 2: that CBS and NBC are blameless in this, because sadly,
- 2:46Speaker 2: the corporate media, they're all corrupt. So let's turn. I
- 2:50Speaker 2: want to turn to two headlines from CBS. First of all,
- 2:54Speaker 2: was the initial headline they put up, and it reads,
- 2:57Speaker 2: Israeli twin babies found hidden and unharmed at kibbutz where
- 3:01Speaker 2: Hamas killed their parents, allegedly beheaded children. So that's on
- 3:07Speaker 2: October twelfth, the headline from CBS News. Now, thankfully CBS
- 3:12Speaker 2: came back and edited that headline, and so the second
- 3:14Speaker 2: headline they put up was Israeli twin babies found hidden
- 3:18Speaker 2: and unharmed at kibbutz where Hamas killed their parents. Now
- 3:24Speaker 2: the second headline is fine. The first headline is part
- 3:31Speaker 2: of a very deliberate propaganda effort to say babies were
- 3:35Speaker 2: not beheaded. And you look at allegedly beheaded children and
- 3:40Speaker 2: the point is aha, we found some babies, so it's
- 3:42Speaker 2: not true that they beheaded children, because here are two
- 3:45Speaker 2: babies who are alive. I mean that that is so
- 3:50Speaker 2: mendacious it doesn't even pass the laugh test. And the topic.
- 3:56Speaker 2: How are we discussing babies being beheaded? It's not difficult
- 4:02Speaker 2: to tell the political agenda of the headline writer who
- 4:05Speaker 2: wrote the first headline. Yep, it is Hamas didn't do this.
- 4:11Speaker 2: The Israelis are lying. Nothing to see here.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Cast down on all stories of atrocities you may have
- 4:17Speaker 1: heard over the last week, allegedly right, allegedly.
- 4:20Speaker 2: By the way, that word allegedly sometimes they use it,
- 4:23Speaker 2: sometimes they don't. When Israel strikes at Gaza and they're
- 4:27Speaker 2: Palestinian civilians killed, twenty bucks says right now, CBS will
- 4:32Speaker 2: not use the word allegedly, allegedly will disappear. Let's give
- 4:36Speaker 2: an example from NBC. Yeah, NBC News, NBC News. Here's
- 4:41Speaker 2: the headline, Conservative stoke fears of a Hamas attack in US.
- 4:47Speaker 2: No credible threat, FBI says. The post show how quickly
- 4:52Speaker 2: the latest bloody conflict between Israel and Hamas has upended
- 4:55Speaker 2: online political debate thousands of miles away.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Now I've been part of this debate online because I
- 5:02Speaker 1: told the story you and I did this on the
- 5:04Speaker 1: podcast of the Day. There have been more terrorists on
- 5:07Speaker 1: the terrorists watch list this year that have been caught
- 5:10Speaker 1: coming across the border in the last five years combined.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So I guess I'm a part of the online you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: the online political debate. By telling the facts that there
- 5:19Speaker 1: have been more people on the terrorists watch lift that
- 5:22Speaker 1: have come across the border have been caught this year,
- 5:24Speaker 1: doesn't county the godaways any of the people that got
- 5:26Speaker 1: across we don't know about then the last five years combine.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And if you say that now, now you're part of
- 5:31Speaker 1: some weird conspiracy theories group.
- 5:34Speaker 2: NBC went all in trying to cover that there's no
- 5:38Speaker 2: reason to think terrorism will happen in the United States.
- 5:41Speaker 2: By the way, among the conservative stoking fears are apparently
- 5:44Speaker 2: you and me, because Friday's podcast we went into great
- 5:47Speaker 2: length on this how this is particularly dangerous when you
- 5:51Speaker 2: have Hamas calling for a global day of Jahad, and
- 5:54Speaker 2: we've had two and a half years of open borders
- 5:56Speaker 2: with hundreds, if not thousands of criminals and terrorists crossing
- 6:01Speaker 2: into this country. Illegally, and look the numbers that we
- 6:04Speaker 2: have with people on the terror watch list, the numbers
- 6:06Speaker 2: that we have of people from special interest countries. Those
- 6:10Speaker 2: are disturbing, but it's the tip of the iceberg. What
- 6:13Speaker 2: is really worrying are the god aways. We don't know
- 6:17Speaker 2: how many terrorists came on the god aways. We know
- 6:20Speaker 2: that the fact that they got away shows they're deliberately
- 6:23Speaker 2: evading arrest. It suggests that they're not blameless. They're not
- 6:28Speaker 2: because if you're blameless, if you don't have a criminal record,
- 6:31Speaker 2: if you're not a gang member, if you're not a terrorist,
- 6:34Speaker 2: you turn yourself into the Biden administration and they let
- 6:37Speaker 2: you go. So there's no reason to be a got
- 6:39Speaker 2: away unless you're a drug dealer, unless you're a criminal,
- 6:42Speaker 2: unless you're a terrorist. That's the only reason. Yes, that's
- 6:46Speaker 2: why people are got aways. And the number you're looking
- 6:50Speaker 2: at upwards of a million and a half got aways.
- 6:52Speaker 2: We don't know how many terrorists are among that group.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But NBC is reporting as news. There's no reason to
- 6:59Speaker 2: be a friend terrorism in America. Never mind the million
- 7:02Speaker 2: and a half people who came in who could be terrorists.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Never mind the fact that if you were a terrorist,
- 7:06Speaker 2: if you wanted to commit Jahad, there's an obvious way
- 7:09Speaker 2: to do that you and I are not giving away
- 7:12Speaker 2: some state secrets saying if you're a terrorist who wants
- 7:15Speaker 2: to murder Americans, the way to do it is cross
- 7:17Speaker 2: over our southern border, because these idiots in the White
- 7:20Speaker 2: House will let you go, and they're not enforcing the border,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and it's not hard to be a got away. You
- 7:27Speaker 2: can get away because the border patrol agents are so
- 7:30Speaker 2: swamped with processing paperwork and changing diapers and dealing with
- 7:35Speaker 2: the seven point six million illegal immigrants that they're not
- 7:38Speaker 2: able to be actually protecting this nation. And mind you,
- 7:42Speaker 2: the Biden administration has also pulled federal air marshals off
- 7:45Speaker 2: a plane, so our planes are less secure because they're
- 7:48Speaker 2: down there doing paperwork as well. These two crises are intertwined,
- 7:53Speaker 2: and NBC News does not want anyone to connect that
- 7:56Speaker 2: our open borders makes us subject to a greater risk
- 8:00Speaker 2: of terrorism. I believe it is indisputable. The risk of
- 8:03Speaker 2: a major terror attack today is greater than any time
- 8:07Speaker 2: it has been since nine to eleven.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Now, if you want to hear the rest of this conversation,
- 8:12Speaker 1: you can go back and listen to the full podcast
- 8:14Speaker 1: from earlier this week. Now onto story number two. This
- 8:19Speaker 1: gag order that was just put on former President Donald Trump,
- 8:22Speaker 1: plain and simple, is this election interference at its worst,
- 8:27Speaker 1: but also at its finest. For Democrats who say, hey,
- 8:29Speaker 1: we can shut up a candidate running the leader in
- 8:32Speaker 1: the lead by I don't know forty plus points depending
- 8:35Speaker 1: on what poll you look at, we're going to make
- 8:37Speaker 1: sure this guy can't defend himself. And what we're trying
- 8:39Speaker 1: to do to.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Him, this gag order is blatantly unconstitutional. Really, it is
- 8:43Speaker 2: an absolute abuse of power. Here's what the gag order reads. Quote,
- 8:47Speaker 2: all interested parties in this matter, including the parties in
- 8:49Speaker 2: their council, are prohibited from making any public statements or
- 8:53Speaker 2: directing others to make any public statements that target won
- 8:56Speaker 2: the Special Council prosecuting this case or his staff. Two
- 8:59Speaker 2: Defense councilor of the staff. Three any of this court
- 9:01Speaker 2: staff or other supporting personnel. And four any reasonable foreseeable
- 9:06Speaker 2: witness or the substance of their testimony. Now I want
- 9:08Speaker 2: to focus in particular on two of them. Number one,
- 9:10Speaker 2: the Special Council prosecuting the case. The judge is saying
- 9:14Speaker 2: You're not allowed to make this case that the Special
- 9:17Speaker 2: Council is a rabid partisan Democrat who's made a career
- 9:20Speaker 2: out of prosecuting Republicans, out of abusing his power. And
- 9:24Speaker 2: he's saying Trump can't make that point, but no, sheep,
- 9:28Speaker 2: rather the judge. But even more importantly, number four, Trump
- 9:34Speaker 2: is prohibited from saying any making any public comments about
- 9:39Speaker 2: any reasonable foreseeable witness or the substance of their testimony.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So one of the witnesses is Mike Pence. Mike Pence
- 9:47Speaker 2: is currently running against Donald Trump for President of the
- 9:49Speaker 2: United States. So you now have a federal judge saying you,
- 9:53Speaker 2: the leading candidate for president of the United States, as
- 9:57Speaker 2: a Republican, are prohibited by the court from making any
- 10:01Speaker 2: comments positive or negative about Mike Pence, one of your opponents.
- 10:06Speaker 1: That's impossible, by the way.
- 10:08Speaker 2: You know, I can just envision if Trump participated in
- 10:11Speaker 2: a debate, and I don't know if he will or not,
- 10:14Speaker 2: but you can imagine him on a debate stage and
- 10:15Speaker 2: Mike Pence stands up and a taxi and Mike Pence
- 10:18Speaker 2: has criticism of Trump, and Trump turns to him. And
- 10:22Speaker 2: if Trump were to follow this order, I guess Trump
- 10:25Speaker 2: would say, I would like to respond to those comments,
- 10:28Speaker 2: but I am prohibited by court order from saying anything
- 10:31Speaker 2: regarding the individual who just said that. That's absurd. That
- 10:36Speaker 2: is right in the face, laughing at the First Amendment,
- 10:40Speaker 2: laughing at free speech, laughing at the democratic process. Now
- 10:45Speaker 2: watch and listen to what Donald Trump said in response
- 10:47Speaker 2: to this.
- 10:49Speaker 3: They think the only way they can catch me is
- 10:52Speaker 3: to stop me from speaking. They want to take away
- 10:54Speaker 3: my voice. And a judge gave a gag order today.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Did you hear that? On speech? Which I believe is
- 11:02Speaker 3: totally unconstitutional? What she did. A judge gave a gagorder.
- 11:05Speaker 3: A judge doesn't like me too much. Her whole life
- 11:08Speaker 3: is not like in me, but she gave a gag order.
- 11:11Speaker 3: You know what a gagorner is. You can't speak badly
- 11:14Speaker 3: about your opponent. But this is weaponry. All being done
- 11:19Speaker 3: because Joe Biden is losing the election and losing very
- 11:22Speaker 3: very badly to all of us in the polls. He's
- 11:24Speaker 3: losing badly. But what they don't understand is that I
- 11:28Speaker 3: am willing to go to jail if that's what it
- 11:31Speaker 3: takes for our country to win and become a democracy again.
- 11:39Speaker 1: By the way, that's why people love him. Look, he's
- 11:42Speaker 1: calling it out and saying, fine, you want to go there,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you can put me in jail. I'm willing to go
- 11:47Speaker 1: to defend my rights to that end.
- 11:49Speaker 2: There are very few statements Donald Trump has made that
- 11:52Speaker 2: I agree with more emphatically than what he just said
- 11:54Speaker 2: there that is exactly right. By the way, on the
- 11:59Speaker 2: face of it, he argues violated the gag order right there,
- 12:02Speaker 2: because he's pointing out that the judge is a radical
- 12:04Speaker 2: leftist and is in fact one of the most liberal judges,
- 12:07Speaker 2: if not the most liberal judge on the entire DC Court.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I don't think the DC judge is going to dare
- 12:14Speaker 2: to put him in jail like you could.
- 12:17Speaker 1: She really couldn't. That was my question based on that.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Could she actually go and arrest him.
- 12:22Speaker 2: She could issue an order go arrest him and put
- 12:24Speaker 2: him in jail. Part of me wants her to do
- 12:28Speaker 2: that because if she did, he would immediately appeal and
- 12:33Speaker 2: I am absolutely certain the appellate courts would reverse it.
- 12:36Speaker 2: I put it at one hundred percent even for a
- 12:40Speaker 2: hardcore leftist judge. She knows that she's not going to lie.
- 12:45Speaker 1: And why did she do the gag order, That's my
- 12:47Speaker 1: question because if you know Donald Trump at all, you
- 12:49Speaker 1: know he's going to push that button.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Because there's an arrogance to it. And I think what
- 12:53Speaker 2: she probably will do is fine him. I think you
- 12:58Speaker 2: will see her at some point. I don't think she'll
- 13:00Speaker 2: take that comment. I think she'll try to find something
- 13:03Speaker 2: that is really explicitly blasting the prosecutor explicitly blasting Mike
- 13:09Speaker 2: Pence or some other potential witness. And I think what
- 13:12Speaker 2: is likely to that we're likely to see is that
- 13:16Speaker 2: she enters an order finding him one thousand dollars or
- 13:19Speaker 2: five thousand dollars or fifty one or hundred whatever some amount.
- 13:23Speaker 2: And I expect that find to be appealed, but it
- 13:27Speaker 2: will not be appealed with the urgency of if she
- 13:31Speaker 2: issued an order for the leading Republican candidate to be incarcerated.
- 13:35Speaker 1: And the former president of the United States of America.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yes, that appeal would be resolved within hours like that
- 13:41Speaker 2: would be done on an emergency expedited basis, And even
- 13:46Speaker 2: the DC Circuit leans left. I don't believe the DC
- 13:48Speaker 2: Circuit look The Supreme Court in a case called Seattle
- 13:57Speaker 2: Times versus Reinhart said that Litigan's First Amendment rights quote
- 14:01Speaker 2: maybe subordinated to other interests that arise in the courthouse.
- 14:04Speaker 2: For instance, on several occasions, this Court has approved restrictions
- 14:07Speaker 2: on the communication of trial participants where necessary to ensure
- 14:10Speaker 2: a fair trial for a criminal defendant. But this isn't
- 14:13Speaker 2: designed to ensure a fair trial for criminal defendant. In fact,
- 14:16Speaker 2: just the opposite. This is designed to hurt the criminal defendant.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And I will point out in New York Times versus Sullivan,
- 14:25Speaker 2: which is a landmark, maybe the landmark free speech freedom
- 14:29Speaker 2: of the press case, the Supreme Court said that the
- 14:32Speaker 2: First Amendment reflects quote, a profound national commitment to the
- 14:36Speaker 2: principle that debate on public issues should be uninhibited, robust,
- 14:41Speaker 2: and wide open, and that it may well include vehement, caustic,
- 14:45Speaker 2: and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attack on government and public officials.
- 14:51Speaker 2: What this judge just said is you're not allowed to
- 14:52Speaker 2: criticize the prosecutor. You're not allowed to criticize Merrick Garland,
- 14:56Speaker 2: the most political Attorney general in America's history, for weaponize
- 14:59Speaker 2: the Department of Justice to go after you because he's
- 15:01Speaker 2: afraid you'll win the election. And he wants to abuse
- 15:03Speaker 2: the justice system to lock you up because he doesn't
- 15:05Speaker 2: want the voters to be able to vote for you.
- 15:08Speaker 2: You're not allowed to say that because while you're running
- 15:10Speaker 2: for president. I don't want I don't want the voters
- 15:13Speaker 2: to hear that. That's not about the jury pool. That's
- 15:16Speaker 2: not about protecting the integrity of the trial. That's about
- 15:19Speaker 2: I don't like anyone knowing what's going on. Now everyone
- 15:22Speaker 2: knows what's going on. That's why every time Trump gets indicted,
- 15:25Speaker 2: his numbers in the primary go up, because it's obvious
- 15:29Speaker 2: whether you like Trump or don't like Trump. Even people
- 15:31Speaker 2: that don't like Trump, they look at this and say,
- 15:33Speaker 2: this is garbage. And this gag order. I gotta say,
- 15:40Speaker 2: this judge may overreach, and I think this gag order
- 15:44Speaker 2: is overreaching. Now, the gag order, on the face of it,
- 15:48Speaker 2: is not likely to be immediately appealable on an expedited basis.
- 15:54Speaker 2: When the appeal will speed up in all likelihood is
- 15:58Speaker 2: when the judge orders a consequence. If the judge ordered incarceration,
- 16:03Speaker 2: If the judge says locks on, do that, I don't
- 16:06Speaker 2: think she is. I actually don't. I think I don't
- 16:09Speaker 2: know this judge at all, have never practiced in front
- 16:11Speaker 2: of her. I don't know her, but from everything I know,
- 16:12Speaker 2: I'm assuming and her record indicate she's a hardcore leftist.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But I don't think she's stupid. If you issue an
- 16:19Speaker 2: order go incarcerate the president of the United States, lock
- 16:23Speaker 2: him up, by the way, you want to talk about unprecedented,
- 16:25Speaker 2: put it in handcuffs, put it in prison. Secret Service
- 16:28Speaker 2: is coming with him, so in the cell, you're gonna
- 16:30Speaker 2: have Secret Service agents protecting Donald Trump in prison. If
- 16:34Speaker 2: she issued that order, you would have an emergency expedited appeal,
- 16:38Speaker 2: and my prediction is in less than a day it
- 16:40Speaker 2: would be reversed. I actually think in hours. I don't
- 16:41Speaker 2: even think it would take It wouldn't take twenty four hours.
- 16:43Speaker 2: It would take a couple of hours. And Trump is
- 16:46Speaker 2: exactly right. Send me to jail, you crazy lunatic partisan
- 16:52Speaker 2: who is rubber stamping this abuse of power from the
- 16:56Speaker 2: most partisan attorney general we've ever seen.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It's incredible.
- 17:00Speaker 2: This gag order is a sad moment in American democracy.
- 17:03Speaker 2: It's a sad moment for American free speech. And let
- 17:06Speaker 2: me close the podcast with this question. Can you name
- 17:10Speaker 2: a single Democrat who's criticized the gag order.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Not a one.
- 17:15Speaker 2: So I can't name an elected Democrat, but I can, Actually,
- 17:19Speaker 2: I'm I'm gonna close with this. I can name Erwin Chimerinsky.
- 17:24Speaker 2: So Erwin Chimerinsky, I know him well. He's a very liberal,
- 17:28Speaker 2: left wing law professor. When I litigated the case defending
- 17:32Speaker 2: the Texas Ten Commandments monument in Texas went to the
- 17:35Speaker 2: Supreme Court, we won five to four. The lawyer on
- 17:37Speaker 2: the other side was Erwin Chimerinsky. He and I have
- 17:40Speaker 2: done multiple debates one on one. He's a very smart,
- 17:44Speaker 2: very affable, very liberal constitutional law professor. So Erwin wrote
- 17:50Speaker 2: on October seventeenth, twenty twenty three, an op ed in
- 17:53Speaker 2: the La Times entitled a federal judges gag order against
- 17:56Speaker 2: Trump may be satisfying, but it is isn't constitutional. And
- 18:01Speaker 2: here's what Erwin wrote. Basic First Amendment principles cast serious
- 18:04Speaker 2: doubt on the judge's order. Quote. The Supreme Court is
- 18:07Speaker 2: long held that court orders prohibiting speech constitute prior restraint
- 18:10Speaker 2: and allowed are allowed only in extraordinary, compelling circumstances. Quote.
- 18:15Speaker 2: What is particularly troubling about Chutkin's order is that it
- 18:18Speaker 2: seems primarily concerned with protecting prosecutors and court personnel from
- 18:22Speaker 2: Trump's vitriol. The law is clear that speech can't be
- 18:26Speaker 2: restricted to prevent government officials from being criticized or even vilified. Quote.
- 18:32Speaker 2: The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that the First Amendment
- 18:35Speaker 2: protects a right to criticize government officials, even harshly. Quote.
- 18:39Speaker 2: There is no reason to believe, however, that Trump's criticism
- 18:42Speaker 2: of Smith, his staff, or court personnel will prevent a
- 18:45Speaker 2: fair trial. It is impossible to imagine that Trump's attacks
- 18:49Speaker 2: will change how the prosecutors behave Irwin Chemerinsky is demonstrating principle.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Here's absolutely right. Name one Democrat senator who's shown this principle.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Name one Democrat House member who shown this principle. If
- 19:02Speaker 2: they exist, I don't know about it. Because today's Democrat
- 19:06Speaker 2: members of Congress hate Donald Trump so much that the
- 19:10Speaker 2: rule of law, the First Amendment, the Constitution, free speech,
- 19:15Speaker 2: none of it matters. Trump hatred defines today's Democrat.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Party as before. If you want to hear the rest
- 19:22Speaker 1: of this conversation on this topic, you can go back
- 19:25Speaker 1: and down the podcasts from earlier this week to hear
- 19:27Speaker 1: the entire thing. I want to get back to the
- 19:31Speaker 1: big story number three of the week you may have missed. Lastly,
- 19:35Speaker 1: for everyone in the US, it's going to be hearing this.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Is there anything that they can do? I've had so
- 19:41Speaker 1: many people reach out saying they want to get involved,
- 19:44Speaker 1: they want to help. What is it they can do? Obviously,
- 19:47Speaker 1: pray for the people of Israel and those of the
- 19:51Speaker 1: loved ones that still have their loved ones who are missing,
- 19:53Speaker 1: that are being held hostage. But is there anything else
- 19:56Speaker 1: that Americans can do if they want to be involved?
- 20:00Speaker 4: Thank you for asking and having had the privilege of
- 20:04Speaker 4: representing America here in Israel for four years. I know
- 20:07Speaker 4: that Americans love Israel, and I know that Americans loved
- 20:10Speaker 4: being on the side of good and Israel is a
- 20:12Speaker 4: great example of that. Here are the three things that
- 20:17Speaker 4: somebody can do, and I just want to highlight for
- 20:19Speaker 4: one moment, it's important for all the listeners to know
- 20:22Speaker 4: that there were thirty Americans killed in this tragedy and
- 20:27Speaker 4: there are eleven Americans at least still missing. I remember
- 20:32Speaker 4: a time where there is a submarine, a tourist submarine
- 20:36Speaker 4: to go see the Titanic, and I think there were
- 20:38Speaker 4: five six seven people on board, and the Nationals gripped
- 20:42Speaker 4: by how many hours of oxygen that they had left.
- 20:45Speaker 4: And it was a porn of watching these people die.
- 20:50Speaker 4: But the world was gripped and prayed and whatever else
- 20:53Speaker 4: happened happened. And I'm not belittling that by any stretching magination.
- 20:58Speaker 4: But I do not see the same captivation of America
- 21:02Speaker 4: of eleven American young men and women being held hostage.
- 21:07Speaker 4: The Red Cross has not been able to see them.
- 21:09Speaker 4: We don't know where they are. The leaders of their
- 21:12Speaker 4: organization fit in a major non NATO allied country, Katarre.
- 21:17Speaker 4: They sit there in the four season villas and are
- 21:21Speaker 4: living it up while they know where our young men
- 21:24Speaker 4: and how young women are. And I don't know why
- 21:26Speaker 4: there's not a counter of how many seconds have gone
- 21:29Speaker 4: by since their parents, if their parents are still alive.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I've seen them last since America knows where they are.
- 21:35Speaker 4: I mean, this is this is this is yes in Israel.
- 21:39Speaker 4: But there are Americans amongst the hostages, and and Americas
- 21:44Speaker 4: amongst the killed in action, and and and we have
- 21:47Speaker 4: people protesting the streets rooting these people on that they
- 21:50Speaker 4: are there. They are rooting on the killing and the
- 21:54Speaker 4: kidnapping of Americans. Let's let's I just want to be
- 21:57Speaker 4: the crystal cinematic. Yeah. Three different things we can do
- 22:02Speaker 4: as human being, certainly as Americans, we're highly influential and connected.
- 22:07Speaker 4: The first is prayer to God in either sweet story plumbers,
- 22:11Speaker 4: Let's make sure that he's busy twenty four to seven.
- 22:14Speaker 4: If you pray, pray more. If you don't pray yet,
- 22:16Speaker 4: start now. That's critical. Number two is Israel will defend
- 22:22Speaker 4: itself by itself. It does not want an American troop,
- 22:25Speaker 4: never is wanted an American troop. It needs arms, needs wespons,
- 22:29Speaker 4: and needs to be able to be resupplied, and it
- 22:31Speaker 4: needs diplomatic cover to be able to continue to do this.
- 22:35Speaker 4: The Senator has pointed out so clearly how fast the
- 22:38Speaker 4: world turns against Israel. The United States needs to have
- 22:41Speaker 4: the moral clarity to allow Israel to exercise this tumor
- 22:46Speaker 4: along its side called Kamas as long as gi Iran.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It needs that diplomatic space and needs the wessonry to
- 22:52Speaker 4: be able to do it by itself. The third thing is, look,
- 22:57Speaker 4: all of my neighbors that I've said, have somebody who's
- 22:59Speaker 4: at the front. I don't know how they sleep a night,
- 23:01Speaker 4: which is by more than more than honor to be
- 23:03Speaker 4: up in the middle of the night, to be able
- 23:05Speaker 4: to be on this podcast through the very little bit
- 23:07Speaker 4: that I can do. If you post posts, if you
- 23:11Speaker 4: give charity, give charity. But whatever it is that you do,
- 23:15Speaker 4: do it until it hurts. There are mothers who cannot
- 23:18Speaker 4: sleep tonight because their kids are missing. There are fathers
- 23:21Speaker 4: who cannot sleep tonight because their kids are on the
- 23:23Speaker 4: front and they don't know if they will come home.
- 23:25Speaker 4: If we want to be with them, we need to
- 23:28Speaker 4: be with them, and that means do something differently than
- 23:31Speaker 4: you would normally do. If you normally pray for privates,
- 23:34Speaker 4: pray until you're missing. The football game is Saturday, pray
- 23:37Speaker 4: until right. If you give charity, you can apport one
- 23:40Speaker 4: thousand dollars. Figure out how to get two thousand dollars.
- 23:43Speaker 4: There are ways that we can be with the people
- 23:46Speaker 4: of Israel at this point in time, the Americans who
- 23:48Speaker 4: are still missing at this point in time, in a
- 23:50Speaker 4: way that God will know that I ain't willing to
- 23:53Speaker 4: sacrifice in order to help share the pain. Pain can
- 23:57Speaker 4: be diffused, pain can be shared, and so we'll ise,
- 24:00Speaker 4: will win, the free world will win, America will win.
- 24:04Speaker 4: We just need to do those three things.
- 24:06Speaker 2: So Aria, that was profound and powerful and and and
- 24:10Speaker 2: and I agree with all three. Let me make a
- 24:11Speaker 2: couple of observations. One, Uh, the fact, my friend, that
- 24:15Speaker 2: you were a rabbi came through loud and clear when
- 24:18Speaker 2: when you gave the the the wonderful advice if you pray,
- 24:22Speaker 2: pray more. If you don't pray, start praying now. I
- 24:25Speaker 2: I love that advice. And that's that's good advice to
- 24:27Speaker 2: every listener. A verdict. I enthusiastically second that that council.
- 24:34Speaker 2: And and you're right in terms of all of the
- 24:36Speaker 2: steps of adding the voice, adding the voices of truth
- 24:39Speaker 2: that that that are really needed powerfully right now, you know,
- 24:44Speaker 2: I want to ask you, I want to shift just
- 24:47Speaker 2: as we're wrapping up to a broader policy question, because
- 24:51Speaker 2: you are living in Israel, you're experiencing firsthand what's happening there.
- 24:54Speaker 2: But you also have been a very senior United States official,
- 24:59Speaker 2: the chief of State to the American ambassador to Israel
- 25:03Speaker 2: during one of the most consequential times in the history
- 25:06Speaker 2: of Israel, and that was the Trump presidency. David Friedman
- 25:10Speaker 2: was ambassador. We moved the American embassy to Jerusalem, something
- 25:14Speaker 2: presidents of both parties had promised, both Republican and Democrat,
- 25:18Speaker 2: and presidents of both parties had broken that promise, and
- 25:21Speaker 2: yet we were able to deliver on it. And you
- 25:25Speaker 2: also were integral in a process. Just two and a
- 25:28Speaker 2: half years ago, we were at a moment where where
- 25:32Speaker 2: peace was breaking out in the Middle East, the Abraham
- 25:35Speaker 2: Accords were being signed, and we were seeing Arabs and
- 25:39Speaker 2: Israelis coming together in a moment that many of us
- 25:44Speaker 2: were afraid we would never see. And it was extraordinary.
- 25:47Speaker 2: And you played an important part in that process. And
- 25:50Speaker 2: so what I want to ask you is a question
- 25:53Speaker 2: what changed three years ago? I remember standing on the
- 25:57Speaker 2: south lawn of the of the White House for the
- 25:59Speaker 2: signing of the Abraham Accords, and people were marveling, how
- 26:02Speaker 2: did this happen? And now we're facing the worst war
- 26:08Speaker 2: in Israel in over fifty years, And and and in
- 26:14Speaker 2: your judgment, as someone who was intimately involved in the
- 26:18Speaker 2: policy that led to the good outcome, what has changed
- 26:23Speaker 2: to have led to this horrific state of affairs where
- 26:25Speaker 2: we find ourselves today, My goodness.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you know when your phone shows you like images
- 26:31Speaker 4: that happen on that day. So three years ago this morning,
- 26:34Speaker 4: I was in Abu Davi with our Secretary of the Treasury,
- 26:37Speaker 4: Stephen Denucin, leading the first ever Abraham of Court business
- 26:40Speaker 4: delegation Dawodabi in the height of Covid, who brought one
- 26:44Speaker 4: hundred is Raey business people met and women com meet
- 26:47Speaker 4: with one hundred Amarati business people met in women in
- 26:51Speaker 4: the middle of Covid. And had it not been Covid,
- 26:53Speaker 4: they would have been hugging each other and said they
- 26:55Speaker 4: were doing that stupid out boat thing which like was
- 26:59Speaker 4: forced for people. And just three there's an l place
- 27:04Speaker 4: flying from Israel to Avru Valley to the United Arab
- 27:08Speaker 4: Emirates and five peace treaties in one hundred and twenty
- 27:11Speaker 4: three days, and there were more to come. Had the
- 27:14Speaker 4: Bible administration capitalized on that the answer and I will
- 27:18Speaker 4: agree with how you started the show. Thanks God for
- 27:20Speaker 4: President Biden's showing up to Iszel. Thanks God that President
- 27:24Speaker 4: Biden brought the carriers into the Mediterranean close in order
- 27:27Speaker 4: to do an act of deterrence. I praise him. I
- 27:31Speaker 4: thanked him, and I think those are important. I think
- 27:34Speaker 4: that's great, But the three years prior to that is
- 27:37Speaker 4: why we're in this position. When you appease Iran, that
- 27:41Speaker 4: is a Neville Chamberlain action. Yeah twice Iran, that is
- 27:46Speaker 4: the Churchill reaction. We have given money to Iran, We've
- 27:50Speaker 4: taken our plus off of their financial neck. There's the
- 27:53Speaker 4: billion to tens of billions, hundreds of billions of dollars
- 27:57Speaker 4: that Iran has gotten over the last three years. We're
- 27:59Speaker 4: not used to rebuild their economy, their universities, they're their
- 28:03Speaker 4: high tech sector. They were used to fund terror And
- 28:07Speaker 4: when Biden decided that he wasn't going to use the
- 28:11Speaker 4: words Abraham Aports, that sent the message to every country
- 28:15Speaker 4: that joined the Israel in peace that leave the United
- 28:18Speaker 4: States of America do not stand with you. It left
- 28:21Speaker 4: a vacuum in the region. And when the United States
- 28:24Speaker 4: needs a vacuum and the region is not filled by
- 28:26Speaker 4: Costa Rica, it's filed by China, Iran, and Russia. And
- 28:32Speaker 4: the only deal that's been broken in the last three
- 28:34Speaker 4: years in the Middle East that when we get five
- 28:36Speaker 4: in one hundred and twenty three days, with ten other
- 28:38Speaker 4: countries ready to go, we gain the playbook to the
- 28:41Speaker 4: Biden administration, China brokeer a deal in between Iran and
- 28:46Speaker 4: Saudi Arabia. Now, why would Saudi Arabia, a chief relationship
- 28:51Speaker 4: of the United States of America a wreached to a
- 28:53Speaker 4: deal with their number one adversary, Iran brokeer by China
- 28:58Speaker 4: because they didn't trust with the United States and America
- 29:01Speaker 4: would be there for them. And our inability to be
- 29:05Speaker 4: able to tell our allies concrete me, we will be
- 29:08Speaker 4: with you. Create a vacuum. And when that vacuum exists,
- 29:12Speaker 4: it's killed by terror. Under the Obama administration, who's called ice.
- 29:16Speaker 4: Under the Bided administration, it's called Cormas Husballah and Iran
- 29:20Speaker 4: it's the same thing, the same radicals run. But it's
- 29:23Speaker 4: because we are not precisive, we are not here, and
- 29:26Speaker 4: we fund this. We fund this with our Iran deal
- 29:29Speaker 4: that you fought against. We fund this with our hostage
- 29:32Speaker 4: negotiations which I would call land and payments, which you
- 29:35Speaker 4: fought against. But we nonetheless have enfranchised these monstrous barbarians
- 29:42Speaker 4: who direct, fund and lead these attacks. And we can
- 29:45Speaker 4: call it Romas, you can call it Hugballah, but it's
- 29:48Speaker 4: the Iran.
- 29:50Speaker 1: As always thank you for listening to Verdict with Center
