- 0:02Last time on no latency. You look different, I'll.
- 0:06Take my chances. Oh my God, didn't even see it
- 0:08back there. I, I know I've, I'm really
- 0:10stealthy today. Not very fashionable for a
- 0:12vampire. He's just gone full super
- 0:15villain Jeb. There is a computer over here.
- 0:17Can't hurt, you know. I arm myself.
- 0:19Whoops, I immediately throw it at.
- 0:21Him damn bridge and glare. They were good when they seemed
- 0:23interesting. It didn't have to be this way
- 0:25these. Are about you get crazy.
- 0:27Oh no. But you chose.
- 0:29Oh boy. No.
- 0:30Thank you, thank you. I don't usually make my shots,
- 0:32so that felt good. Get them.
- 0:34And you chose poorly. I'm sorry, Doctor Glass, I don't
- 0:36know what to do. Are you sure we shouldn't lack?
- 0:38I don't know. He's dead, Jeb.
- 0:40Eternal life really had a limited time offer on.
- 0:43It he's gone. I'm not going to drink that
- 0:45blood off the ground. It's the reason for the season.
- 0:48Sounds good, Jeb. Network 54 with the Daily Night
- 1:04City with April Anonymous and Harry Hayden Packer.
- 1:10Hello Night City. I'm April Anonymous and this is
- 1:15Network 54. This city size relief this
- 1:19November as the Halloween Werewolf Killer has been found
- 1:23with loose ties to XNCPDPI Detective Ralco, who was found
- 1:29dead and red after attacking A Ripper dock in Pacifica.
- 1:33Clues and a trail of blood lead Night City authorities to the
- 1:36remains of the real Werewolf killer, Ralco's accomplice, a
- 1:41once part time hot dog vendor Arthur Flonum, now also
- 1:46deceased. The case has been closed by the
- 1:49NCPD with some help from Biotechnica.
- 1:53Someone was left red, but this time it wasn't ketchup.
- 1:58No further comment was offered. When asked if we should expect
- 2:02less cyber wolf man psycho like dangers in our city streets, PR
- 2:08agent for the NCPD Sergeant Bella Copper stated no comment
- 2:13and left me on red. What a bitch.
- 2:17Locals say a guy with ATV for a head, a doctor, a ball and a
- 2:22Birdman saved some of the victims during this rampage of
- 2:25woven October duos. No leads on these Halloween
- 2:30costume heroes whereabouts or where they may have disappeared
- 2:33to at time of this broadcast. More as it develops.
- 2:39In other news, the season is upon us and soon Shelf will be
- 2:43stocked with products for you to buy to hold up our failing and
- 2:47unfair economy. Part of this broadcast is
- 2:51sponsored by Mimic. Mimic get something else to do
- 2:55it. The nights are getting colder
- 2:58and I'm getting bolder. Someone is getting the cold
- 3:02shoulder Max in our city Night City here on Network 54.
- 3:10Harry my Co host will be after this with the weather.
- 3:14I'm April anonymous. This is network 54.
- 3:18We'll be right back after these seasonal messages.
- 3:22Fate. History of the stock.
- 3:23It's the moment be. Responsible October has passed.
- 3:28It's been about a week since you've been at Doctor Glass's
- 3:34apartment. His penthouse you left in ruin
- 3:38with access to the computer. You had enough time to use fresh
- 3:42to delete any record of you being there, and since Retro
- 3:45rolled so well on the elevator, you're able to leave with almost
- 3:48no trace whatsoever. The only Pi that was interested
- 3:51was Roscoe anyway. That's true.
- 3:53Did. VV Go.
- 3:55Through with this cat. Yes, OK.
- 4:01Yes, VV did get some new cyberware installation.
- 4:07So Phoebe now has permanent that is, they can only.
- 4:14Sell. The fan art digital.
- 4:16Ones. Or they double up like those two
- 4:19cats that have 4 ears. Oh my.
- 4:21Gosh yes do they? Do you have 4 ears now or?
- 4:25They are amplified. They are classed as amplified
- 4:29hearing. They cost you 450 eddies for the
- 4:31installation and they give you plus one to wardrobe and style.
- 4:35Cool. It's only one D6 to roll against
- 4:38your humanity. Please roll.
- 4:41Oh. It's stuff that they do at the
- 4:45mall, like Claire's. Awareness where is.
- 4:52Actually you. Humanity loss three.
- 4:55You got maximum humanity loss. Cheers.
- 4:58Shit. It's only three though, we'll be
- 5:01fine. It adds +2 to your perception
- 5:04skill with checks that include hearing.
- 5:06He installed a cyber audio suite for free.
- 5:09Oh, did you go for therapy too? No, sorry, I I accidentally
- 5:13clicked on the human. You want to.
- 5:15Go for therapy, you can count. It if you want.
- 5:17It's expensive. I think VV is going to need some
- 5:21therapy, especially after not just with the cyber ears, but
- 5:25what happened with Doctor Glass I think has kind of messed her
- 5:31up mentally. So I think VV is going to go go,
- 5:35go, go get some therapy. All right.
- 5:37Did you do regular therapy or extreme therapy?
- 5:40You definitely went with sore tooth.
- 5:42Sore tooth. You got a therapist for if you
- 5:43want. Extreme.
- 5:46It always makes me laugh. Extreme therapy is expensive,
- 5:51but it will with that role give you and.
- 5:54Sorry, how much it was? You said it was 350 eddies. 450
- 5:58eddies for the ears installation and the actual hardware itself.
- 6:02Pretty good deal actually. One thing about Rudy that you
- 6:06found out is that prices are very reasonable.
- 6:08They they, everybody who gets cyber usually gets more than
- 6:11one. So if your guy was good, you'll
- 6:13go back. So he ends up making more money
- 6:14in the end. What's the rate for extreme
- 6:16therapy? In our world, have anything from
- 6:201000 to 1500? I'll go for regular therapy.
- 6:24All right, that's 700 eddies. Seven.
- 6:28OK, let's let's go with Rick. Let's just stick to the regular.
- 6:31Regular therapy all right you regain 5 you talk to source
- 6:34tooth it's a really nice conversation he's.
- 6:37Also a therapist, bless him. He's like got every level
- 6:42doctor. Theory.
- 6:42He's not your record doc anymore if you want to read Rudy.
- 6:46What level? How many levels of doctor are
- 6:48there? Because he's everyone.
- 6:52Sawtooth is a level 7 doctor. I believe so.
- 6:56You gain. 5 back and you walk into the bar refreshed, smelling
- 7:04of saline for the next day or so.
- 7:06Unfortunately. Oh no, you didn't do extreme
- 7:10therapy. Never mind, you do.
- 7:11Not smell. But you now have upon your head
- 7:15a pair of ears that light up and give you +2 to checks with
- 7:20hearing. You have to remember that I
- 7:22would write it down. Hey guys.
- 7:26Hello. Oh, look at your ears.
- 7:31What? I ended up going back to what's
- 7:34his name and I got myself some new cyberwear.
- 7:40Permanent cat ears. I'm one step closer to becoming
- 7:46Danger Gal themself. Wow.
- 7:50Well. Meow they look good.
- 7:53Yeah, thanks. Meow.
- 7:54Wow. I think that's that's better.
- 7:57I should sit there. I think it goes with the whole
- 8:00look you know? I mean IAA Dr. with cat ears and
- 8:05colorful hair and a cute gun like style over substance.
- 8:13Do they still have? Their.
- 8:16Style I can I can hear a little better something you you.
- 8:26You kind of you kind of feel your way into them mentally and
- 8:31they turn on a little light. So you have a hands free light
- 8:34now as well? I got a light, I look better.
- 8:38So I think you know, if somebody if we need to do some get into a
- 8:42club or something, I should be the face.
- 8:47I I agree. I.
- 8:48Mean I you are one of the faces. Did anyone else go to Rudy?
- 8:53Never heard of him. The guy we met the Ripper duck
- 8:56with the five dead people in the lobby.
- 8:58With the we shot. That Pi.
- 9:03Oh, oh, I remember him. Yeah, the.
- 9:05RIP Duck that installed all the Wolvers on Doctor Glass.
- 9:08And yeah, the other guy who died.
- 9:11He sounds maybe problematic. No, no, he didn't know.
- 9:15He didn't know. What he's?
- 9:16Just. A guy, we can't make a judgement
- 9:19on that. He didn't have any context, it
- 9:21was just someone giving him money to do his job.
- 9:23I. Suppose that's true.
- 9:26Maybe. Also he he seemed really nice
- 9:28and his map was really cool. OK, if he seems cool, he's
- 9:32probably fine. I didn't see another Ripper doc,
- 9:36but I did he did he. Spoke to him.
- 9:40No, I meant I didn't go and see Rudy.
- 9:43Oh, I see what you mean. Sorry I I misunderstood.
- 9:47I didn't go and see a Ripper dock.
- 9:49I did make a a a minor augmentation to my cyber arm.
- 9:57Yeah, what'd you do? So a while back I had found a a
- 10:06heavy pistol, the Magnum opus Hellbringer, Yeah, And I decided
- 10:13I wanted to install it into my arm as a, as a concealable
- 10:20weapon slash shoot from my arm. Oh cool, sure.
- 10:25Would you like? Me to roll for that.
- 10:28Yes, I do. Yes, please do roll for.
- 10:29That says Vandel. That sounds cool.
- 10:33Upgrade 24. Yeah, that's very high.
- 10:36That's literally incredible. And you raise your arm and the
- 10:41barrel of the gun comes out and then slips back in.
- 10:47It can hold three shots but has the same damage as the Opus can,
- 10:50only has a rat of R1. Luckily though, because my body
- 10:56is 10 it doesn't have the jamming problem.
- 11:00Reloading that requires removing the barrel from your arm.
- 11:03It is not a simple task. You have to do that out of
- 11:05combat. Fair enough.
- 11:06Please mark that down as well. I'm doing it right now but it
- 11:09took me all week to do this. It took him the entire week, but
- 11:12you look at this cool arm gun thing and it is cool.
- 11:16Cool. Arm thing is cool more and I.
- 11:21I'm ever closer to becoming Alex Murphy.
- 11:24It's just sitting around the map table.
- 11:26You have these two points. Now you have a point at the
- 11:28Hillview and a point at the biotechnical building.
- 11:32Domino comes up the stairs. Hey.
- 11:35Domino. Good afternoon Vivi.
- 11:41Your work at the Hillview and some of the other events that
- 11:47happened over October were valiant, but I'm worried that
- 11:52we're getting a little bloody. Getting a little bloody, like in
- 12:00general, like just like being kind of violent and all of that.
- 12:04Yes. Yeah.
- 12:09It doesn't look good to leave a trail of bodies.
- 12:13That's a good point. I would agree we.
- 12:17Should do our best to mitigate that in the future.
- 12:23You hear that, gang? We can't.
- 12:25Well, means it. Can't.
- 12:29We shouldn't just kill everything on site.
- 12:37I don't think we'd do that. I mean we at least give it some
- 12:42sight and then decide to kill it.
- 12:45It's true, a lot of people in Height city are just very
- 12:48hostile to be so real. Yeah, that's true.
- 12:52I mean, I feel like most of the time that they aren't giving us
- 12:55much of A choice. You.
- 12:57Know like I saw them reaching. Well, your next task to install
- 13:05the final transponder. Hopefully we'll acquire less
- 13:09violence. Well, I mean, if they resist and
- 13:17we're going to shoot them, that's just how it goes.
- 13:19No, I just recommend you don't do it because I'm sending you to
- 13:22the NCU. Oh, not City University.
- 13:28It's right there on the coast, in the University District on
- 13:33the West side of my city. Just here.
- 13:35So where in NCU are we installing?
- 13:40Somewhere higher up I'm on top of the library.
- 13:45Library trip. Well, I do like libraries, you
- 13:50know, I I my reading comprehension isn't super high
- 13:55to be honest with you all, but I do like looking at the pictures.
- 13:58Jeff, weren't you just talking about a library card?
- 14:03Well, yeah, I like I said, I like to look at the pictures and
- 14:05there's a lot more you can do with the library.
- 14:07That's what I'm saying. We should get everybody else a
- 14:09library card. That's a great idea.
- 14:13And I'll, I mean, I just really like the vibe of a library.
- 14:15You know, it's nice and quiet. You can focus on whatever you
- 14:17want to focus on. And, you know, sometimes it's
- 14:20good to kind of get away and be surrounded by people who are,
- 14:24for the most part, helpful. That's wonderful.
- 14:27I'm glad you have a a place of peace, Jeb.
- 14:31Do you still have your? Library card VV I do actually.
- 14:36From your student days. Yeah, I wonder if it expired.
- 14:41No, it's not that long ago. Yeah, I still have mine.
- 14:46Cool, hopefully you don't have any late fees.
- 14:54Late fees for VV Late VS. Ha ha.
- 14:59So we so we just have to install the transponder transponder.
- 15:03I went, I went Swedish for the reason.
- 15:05So we only have to just install somewhere like high up like on
- 15:09top. Of the library, yes.
- 15:10How do we get it through the library?
- 15:14That you'll have to work out. Vivi is familiar with the
- 15:18campus. I believe Retro is too, at least
- 15:21for a few classes. What?
- 15:24Yeah. Sorry, I was polished in my
- 15:27Canon, I didn't know what what's going on.
- 15:29We're installing a transponder at the university library, and
- 15:32you and I probably are the most savvy.
- 15:35I got library fines. I don't know if I can do this.
- 15:39Oh, it's fine. Don't.
- 15:41Worry they don't recognize. Oh we just pay our fees.
- 15:45We should probably pay our fines to the library anyway.
- 15:48How much could it be? I still cut to library.
- 16:04Night City. If you look at a map of North
- 16:06America, somewhere on the western edge you'd see an inky
- 16:09black dot with fingers pressing into the side of the continent.
- 16:12That's where you find Night City.
- 16:15And somewhere in the middle of that inky black dot is a giant
- 16:18smoking hole, like the universe itself drew iron and shot
- 16:21straight through the city. Radiation turned the sky red.
- 16:26But our story starts a little further South, in a dive bar the
- 16:30shortstop. Welcome to Night City and
- 16:33welcome to Cyberpunk Edge of Extinction.
- 16:38Infinite Sided Dice presents Cyberpunk Edge of Extinction, a
- 16:41Cyberpunk Red actual play. Watch now at youtube.com slash
- 16:46at Infinite Sided Dice catch you later chums.
- 17:01I've arrived outside in the university quad.
- 17:06There's this little courtyard area just off the street.
- 17:08It's got a holographic fountain that makes no noise but
- 17:12illuminates the centre area quite nicely.
- 17:15There are a few sets of orange benches here in the courtyard in
- 17:20front of you. To the north there is the
- 17:22faculty office, to the North East is a bathroom building, and
- 17:28to your West is the large library building for the NCU.
- 17:36It is pretty late though, so to your very E there is a sign to
- 17:41the lecture halls, but that area is closed.
- 17:44Well, obviously we can't go to the lecture halls guys.
- 17:46They've got a little placard like stand up that says close
- 17:50for cleaning. Damn it.
- 17:53Sorry guys, can't go there. Got to respect the school rules.
- 17:56Yeah, I do. I respect higher.
- 17:59I respect institutions of higher learning.
- 18:01I never got to go myself, but as we now don't respect people that
- 18:07took time out of their lives to try to get smarter, you know,
- 18:11that's good for them. Well, I mean.
- 18:13We don't need to go to the lecture halls anyways, right now
- 18:15we're headed to the library. We just probably had a.
- 18:17Role perception, Anybody who wants to look around as you walk
- 18:21through. My old stomping grounds.
- 18:24Let's see what's changed. 18. Very good.
- 18:29Retro You fall into the holographic fountain and somehow
- 18:32still get wet. Well, they never clean it out,
- 18:37right? It's still there's still like
- 18:39actual rainwater in there. Roll.
- 18:40Me AD 6. Hope you don't get a 10.
- 18:44Great rolling, rolling like fire tonight.
- 18:49Five, it is not urine. That's good God.
- 18:58Vivi, on the other hand, rolls an 18 on perception and you look
- 19:01around and there are these four sets of benches and it looks
- 19:04like there are sort of four different things going on on
- 19:07each of these benches. To your W, you have two people
- 19:14A, they seemed like they're on a date.
- 19:17Doesn't look like it's going very well.
- 19:20To your right to the east, there's a group of four students
- 19:25all sitting around a bench in a very cool college kind of way.
- 19:28You know, they're sitting on the back of it, that kind of thing,
- 19:30and then looking over to the northwest and muttering to each
- 19:34other. To your northeast there is 2
- 19:39tombs. One of them's looking really
- 19:41timid with big, big spectacles on, and the other one looks like
- 19:44a kind of a fashion Easter and they're having a conversation.
- 19:48Doesn't seem to be going well for the nerd.
- 19:50And finally, to your northwest, with the attention of the gaggle
- 19:55of students to your right, you see someone who has chained
- 19:58themselves to a bench here in the courtyard with a bunch of
- 20:02signs around them and put a piece of duct tape over their
- 20:06mouth. Oh, is this some sort of
- 20:08protest? Some kind of protest I'm.
- 20:11Curious. I'll just kind of take a a
- 20:17gander over toward the protesting student just to see
- 20:21what it's all about. I will go with you.
- 20:24I, owner and VV head over to the protesting student.
- 20:27As you get closer, you can see there are signs that are
- 20:31complaining about the budget cuts to the library and the new
- 20:36administration and how they're dealing with university funds
- 20:40and resources. I climb out of the fountain.
- 20:45I I'm just as ignore that here. I'm from funnies going on on one
- 20:49of the sides retro climbs up I'm.
- 20:52Just sitting over here as I was in college originally, nobody
- 20:58even laughed. That's sad.
- 21:00Well, you told us not to laugh at you last time.
- 21:03We can't do anything right. Welcome to live Fendale.
- 21:08Oh damn, help getting out of the fountain.
- 21:10Here you go. Thank you.
- 21:14OK, so there's some issues with budget cuts and funding and
- 21:19things at the library. OK, nothing new.
- 21:25What are they doing to the library?
- 21:31Why would you put duct tape over your mouth?
- 21:33If you were going to respond to questions, why would you do
- 21:38that? Did somebody else do that for
- 21:41you? Did somebody else put that over
- 21:43your mouth? Sounds like they did it
- 21:46themselves. Would you like us to take the
- 21:50duct tape off? They nod all.
- 21:53Right, well, there you go. I latex my myself up.
- 21:58Excuse me? I take a step back.
- 22:06They shake the heck they they, they roll perception.
- 22:11Let's see if you can, you can read their what they're trying
- 22:13to say to you. Oh.
- 22:14My gosh, sorry, one second I'm going to pull that back.
- 22:18Up. Oh, you have?
- 22:19Enhanced hearing. You could probably understand it
- 22:21right? Oh right, I do have enhanced
- 22:23hearing. Wow.
- 22:26It came in handy already. I know, it's crazy.
- 22:29Isn't it? 22?
- 22:31Yes. The exasperation you heard was
- 22:35the student going, oh, that was cool because the the mechanism
- 22:39for the latex glove was really cool.
- 22:41Oh great. OK, I'll RIP the duct tape off.
- 22:45How? How?
- 22:47Oh, that's one way to get rid of a moustache.
- 22:49I suppose I wanted, but thanks, honey.
- 22:55Please tell what? Call me honey.
- 23:00OK. A.
- 23:03A. A simple MAM will do.
- 23:06OK, ma'am, honey is the new slang.
- 23:08Right now I call everybody honey.
- 23:10Who's cool? Oh stick with ma'am for me
- 23:15please. What are they doing to the
- 23:18library? Well, they're cutting bunch.
- 23:20They've they've cut a bunch of budget cuts.
- 23:23They've cut a bunch of money from the library budget.
- 23:26The the access to the book room is, is heavily restricted now
- 23:31and you have to get like a professor's approval.
- 23:34And for some reason, even though we're in budget cuts, the
- 23:37university's just put out for a huge insurance policy on all of
- 23:41the books, but they weren't letting anyone touch them.
- 23:45What's the point? What I was, what am I paying
- 23:49for? I'm going to be in debt for
- 23:51three lifetimes. Just be a doctor.
- 23:55This is what I signed up for. They changed the Dean after I
- 23:58joined the university. This guy's a prick.
- 24:03It's like I'm reliving my own previous years prior years.
- 24:12Do you know who Dean Grindwall is?
- 24:17Is he new? Do I know who that is?
- 24:19He was your least favorite teacher.
- 24:21He was not Dean. While you ain't here, he's the
- 24:23Dean. Do I know him?
- 24:26He went from professor to Dean. He's also your least favorite
- 24:30teacher. He was such an asshole.
- 24:32Oh, I hated that guy. He's he was a professor.
- 24:35Oh, Oh yeah, that was the that was the guy that like gave
- 24:40everybody homework but never but like was like you have to write
- 24:46an essay and but never told you what it what what the essay
- 24:48needed to be on. Yeah, and then he never even
- 24:50read them. He just he would give an.
- 24:53English professor ever. Yeah, how do you, how do you
- 24:58know all this retro well? I I went to school here too.
- 25:02Oh, right, like. I have two of my degrees come
- 25:05from it come from Night City. Well, OK, so he's the Dean now,
- 25:11which, yeah, that does suck. There was that rumor that he
- 25:18took a bribe from a rich student a few years ago so they could
- 25:22pass. What?
- 25:26Well they've been saying that for years.
- 25:28I just thought he was such a great ass kisser that eventually
- 25:31he got it. Yeah, the last team retired
- 25:36early. Why?
- 25:38Moved into a really nice apartment, got loads of money
- 25:41for somehow. Mm hmm.
- 25:42Mm hmm. You know, I do seem to remember
- 25:46him constantly saying that he could make this place much
- 25:50better than the way that it's run.
- 25:52Always saying things like how bigly and how great everything
- 25:57was. Yeah, also he smells and I don't
- 26:02like him. Got him.
- 26:09Hey, tell it how it is, you know?
- 26:11That's what else you're. Saying Is that First Amendment?
- 26:13Right specific smell. An annoying boy.
- 26:17Man. He does smell like old man and
- 26:19farts. Yeah, like Ben Gay.
- 26:22Yeah. Bengay.
- 26:25Yeah, yeah, the the, the muscle. Yeah, the therapy stuff.
- 26:29Icy Hot stuff. It smells like a really bad
- 26:33version of Old Spice. With cinnamon in it.
- 26:35Sullen. Pass Also icy, icy warm, you
- 26:40know, Yeah. Anyway, that's what I'm
- 26:43protesting, that I've I I've already paid my tuition and now
- 26:46they're changing the goal posts and it's not.
- 26:48It's not fair and they paid for stooping stupid observation
- 26:52drones that fly around all the time.
- 26:55One man out of battery and hit me on the head.
- 26:58That's bad. You could probably sue for that.
- 27:01No, I signed an NDA thingy. Oh, that makes we.
- 27:04All have to sign NDA. When we come in, there's like a
- 27:07whole. On campus they don't give a
- 27:08shit. That kind of stuff.
- 27:11Yeah, by by stepping into the campus you technically sign an
- 27:14NDA, but you can't sue them anymore.
- 27:16It's been written into the bylaws of Knight City.
- 27:18Yeah, that that hologram isn't water.
- 27:20It's fine print. Literally, you can read it,
- 27:24yeah. Also, my name is Sandra E.
- 27:28Sandra E. Nice to meet you, Sandra E Can I
- 27:32call you Sandy? True.
- 27:35And I'll sound like tied to a bench and I'm I'm, I'm here to
- 27:38fight the man. Yeah, why tie yourself to the
- 27:41bench if you're going to fight the man?
- 27:43Because they don't like it when you tie things to things.
- 27:46So I did it anyway. Why would you tie yourself to
- 27:49it? I mean, to be honest, if you're
- 27:51here to fight the man and you want to protest and so forth
- 27:53like that, tying yourself to the bench doesn't really do anything
- 28:00except stop anybody else from potentially needing to use the
- 28:03bench and also like prevents you from actively being able to do
- 28:09an action to stop them from doing it.
- 28:11You have literally chained prisoned yourself to said bench.
- 28:15Do you even have like somebody to bring you water and food and
- 28:18stuff or have a key to unlock you?
- 28:20Yeah, my boyfriend. And where is he?
- 28:23He's going to be back tomorrow morning.
- 28:25I'm doing a sitting. I'm getting I'm.
- 28:27Getting more people aware of it. Hey, I'm not not to be that guy,
- 28:30but like, what on you? It sure did.
- 28:34You know about it now. Can you help us?
- 28:37Do you have money? No.
- 28:40Do I look like I have money? A little I just have a way.
- 28:46I you know what, there are a few things I would like to say, but
- 28:49I just, I'm not going to because it just feels mean and isn't
- 28:52going to be helpful. Thank you SO.
- 28:56What do you do next? I guess we get into the library.
- 29:03Sure. There's way at the Bay is the
- 29:06protest. This is not helpful.
- 29:11Retro just leave it. You know, you know how, you know
- 29:14how students are. Yes, we all think that we know
- 29:17the world and then once we get in the world realize Oh no,
- 29:20everything is not how we thought it could be.
- 29:23Yeah, but don't break the bubble.
- 29:24It was nice while we were in higher education, they.
- 29:27Need to know now let. Them let them know.
- 29:31I don't know. I've never been.
- 29:33I've never been to a higher education.
- 29:35Yes, we know, Jeb. OK, wait, is that obvious?
- 29:40No comment. That's a smart thing to say.
- 29:46Thanks, Jeb. Do you open the door to the
- 29:49library? Yeah.
- 29:52Cool. OK.
- 30:01You step into a large open room. There are a bunch of tables set
- 30:07up for people to do their various university work.
- 30:12While they're here. A bunch of different people sat
- 30:15at them. You can try and see if you see
- 30:17anything in those people in a second.
- 30:19On the wall to the North and South are a bunch of cabinets
- 30:23filled with little digital storage disks full of tons of
- 30:29medical information. General information, genuinely
- 30:33using local expert or any kind of look up in this room gives
- 30:38you a + 4. This library is very detailed on
- 30:41its digital side for medical students.
- 30:46However, any of the books, because of licensing, can only
- 30:49be used by one student at a time, so it does cause some
- 30:52problem causing some students have to stay up really late for
- 30:55long waiting lists. To your N is a large glass wall.
- 31:01In the middle of the wall there's a large glass panel, and
- 31:04through it you can see shelves upon shelves of actual real.
- 31:10Books. Sealed in a special room, you
- 31:15can see rows and rows of books. And you know, Vivi, that this is
- 31:21one of the largest collections of books in the entire city.
- 31:25Not just medical textbooks, but books of note.
- 31:28There's even a First Folio in there.
- 31:30It's a pretty good collection and it's one of the things that
- 31:33the university borrows against when it needs money because it
- 31:36has that much value. Wow, holy shit, is that the
- 31:39Gutenberg Bible? Yeah, look, this, this, this
- 31:51library, actually, it has a lot. It's, I guess, one of the crown
- 31:59jewels of Knight City University.
- 32:02I mean, yeah, it's, it's very rare to have a book where the
- 32:06saviour of the religion is Steve Guttenberg.
- 32:11Absolutely. The librarian looks at you.
- 32:13I. Help you.
- 32:22We weren't expecting interaction with them.
- 32:29No, we're just browsing student. Here or alumni or.
- 32:35Alumni. Can I see your your card?
- 32:39Oh no, yeah, he he's an alumni too.
- 32:43Cool, can I see both your cards? Here's my library card.
- 32:51OK. And she she's really peppy.
- 32:53She seems cute and fun. She's got a little ponytail that
- 32:56bounces up a bit, like somebody who's really into horses.
- 32:59She's so petty. She's great.
- 33:02She scans your card and you. Maybe make that noise that
- 33:07mechanics make? Excuse me?
- 33:13You know when you're at the mechanic and they open their
- 33:15engine and they look at something expensive and they go,
- 33:18that's what I just did because I looked at how much is on this
- 33:21list. I think you said I thought you
- 33:23miss Mechanic in a different way.
- 33:25My bad. No.
- 33:27What other way is there? Mechanics are the game that
- 33:29we're playing. I've rolled a. 900.
- 33:32Eddies. 900 Eddies. I turn my head and go, yeah.
- 33:42How is that possible? Well, you still have a copy of
- 33:51Martin Shorts Anatomy for Dummies.
- 33:54Oh, that's a. Good.
- 33:56One, I took that out freshman year.
- 33:58Come on. Well, and you held onto it for a
- 34:02year and a half and here in the notes because you liked the
- 34:05forward. It was funny.
- 34:10I can't believe you take these notes on when I take out books
- 34:13all right, all right, all right, all right.
- 34:15I'm. Really sorry, I shouldn't do
- 34:17that, should you? No, no, no, I'm just kidding.
- 34:20No, that was hilarious. All right, 900 eddies.
- 34:26OK, Can we do? I just went to therapy and it
- 34:29was really expensive. Can we do some sort of payment
- 34:33plan? It is at this moment that you
- 34:35get payment for putting in the transponder for Domino and you
- 34:39make. You all make.
- 34:41That's not a law, but it is a decent amount.
- 34:47You make it. You all make 1000 eddies each.
- 34:48Oh. There goes, Oh yeah, look at
- 34:53that. Well, there goes all of my 90%
- 34:58of my funds from our most recent job.
- 35:03All right, I'm pay. I mean, I'm going to pay this
- 35:05debt. I'm not.
- 35:05I'm not having a library debt over my head.
- 35:08Oh, that means I can I can give you back your library
- 35:10privileges. Oh, the.
- 35:13Only thing over your head is going to be those years.
- 35:17They are cute. And they've already come in
- 35:18handy, so. You know, if if you just want to
- 35:22pay it straight up, that's fine with me.
- 35:23Just swipe your card. All right, all right, all right.
- 35:26I'm just going to pay it. All right, you pay 900 eddies
- 35:29and now you have full access to the NCU library.
- 35:33Retro. Do you scan your card?
- 35:35Well, yeah, they called me out already.
- 35:38God damn it's easy. I really want to know.
- 35:40Well I want to know retro. Owes I just rolled 14 retro owes
- 35:481400. For what?
- 35:56Who checked out the Gutenberg Pop?
- 36:10Next time on no latency. A cleaning fee?
- 36:16Excuse me? Yeah.
- 36:18When you're old for flirting. Very, very smooth actually.
- 36:21How's Thursday for you? Ben Dale, did you take notes?
- 36:24Asking for a favor has a different connotation.
- 36:26I don't know that I've ever seen a more successful flirt.
- 36:29I don't mean to say this in a mean way.
- 36:30You are a serial dater. I date on occasion.
- 36:33Yeah, I was I. Don't smoke unless it's I have a
- 36:36pipe I. Think they're going to burn down
- 36:38the library? Pretty evident as soon as we
- 36:40found out they took out an insurance policy.
- 36:42That's the new Dean. I'm invigorated with the
- 36:46knowledge that surrounds me. I was.
- 36:48Just looking forward to looking at more of those fun picture
- 36:51books on the back. And now I'm going to take off my
- 36:53gloves and burn them so. What's everyone's social credit
- 36:55looking like? More fines.
- 36:57See me in the streets and they say hey, it's jam and I'm like.
- 36:59I'm going to go eavesdrop, frankly.
- 37:02What? What are we taking?
- 37:04OK, we got a little bit of time. This guy isn't exactly the
- 37:06brightest, is he? Do they have them here?
- 37:09Hey Ram's head, let me ask you a question.
- 37:11The originals. That's worth a lot of money.
- 37:14Yeah, it is poo, poo, pee, pee, Dicks and
- 37:38birds. Nice.
- 37:40How much could it be cut to library?
- 37:45That's a great ad break. That's just a great ad break.
- 37:48That's where it is, but that area is closed because I haven't
- 37:54made the map yet. Well, obviously we can't go to
- 37:58the lecture halls guys. They've got a little placard
- 38:00like stand up that says close for cleaning.
