- 0:00John Chapter 10 Truly, truly I say to you, he who does not
- 0:04enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some
- 0:07other way, he is a thief and a robber.
- 0:10But he who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep.
- 0:13To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he
- 0:17calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
- 0:20When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the
- 0:23sheep follow him because they know his voice.
- 0:25A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him,
- 0:28because they do not know the voice of strangers.
- 0:31This figure of speech. Jesus spoke to them, but they
- 0:34did not understand what those things were which he had been
- 0:36saying to them. So Jesus said to them again,
- 0:39Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
- 0:42All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the
- 0:45sheep did not hear them. I am the door.
- 0:48If anyone enters through me, he will be saved and will go in and
- 0:52out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal
- 0:55and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life
- 0:58and have it abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd.
- 1:01The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
- 1:04He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd who is not the owner of
- 1:07the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees,
- 1:11and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
- 1:14He flees because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about
- 1:16the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd, and I
- 1:19know my own, and my own know me, even as the Father knows me.
- 1:23And I know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep.
- 1:27I have other sheep which are not of this fold.
- 1:29I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice, and they
- 1:32will become one flock with one shepherd.
- 1:35For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life
- 1:38so that I may take it again. No one has taken it from me, but
- 1:41I lay it down on my own initiative.
- 1:44I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it
- 1:46up again. This commandment I received from
- 1:49my father. A division occurred again among
- 1:51the Jews because of these words. Many of them were saying, He has
- 1:55a demon and is insane, why do you listen to him?
- 1:58Others were saying, these are not the sayings of one demon
- 2:02possessed. A demon cannot open the eyes of
- 2:04the blind, can he? At that time the Feast of the
- 2:07Dedication took place at Jerusalem.
- 2:09It was winter and Jesus was walking in the temple in the
- 2:12portico of Solomon. The Jews then gathered around
- 2:15him and were saying to him, How long will you keep us in
- 2:18suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us
- 2:21plainly. Jesus answered them.
- 2:23I told you, and you do not believe the works that I do in
- 2:26my Father's name. These testify of me.
- 2:29But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep.
- 2:32My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me,
- 2:35and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish, and
- 2:38no one will snatch them out of my hand.
- 2:40My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no
- 2:44one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
- 2:46I and the Father are one. The Jews picked up stones again
- 2:50to stone him. Jesus answered them, I showed
- 2:53you many good works from the Father.
- 2:55For which of them are you stoning me?
- 2:57The Jews answered him for a good work.
- 2:59We do not stone you, but for blasphemy, because you, being a
- 3:02man, make yourself out to be God.
- 3:05Jesus answered them. Has it not been written in your
- 3:08law? I said, You are gods, if he
- 3:10called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and the
- 3:13Scripture cannot be broken. Do you say of him whom the
- 3:16Father sanctified and sent into the world, you are blaspheming?
- 3:19Because I said, I am the Son of God, if I do not do the works of
- 3:23my Father, do not believe me. But if I do them, though you do
- 3:26not believe me, believe the works, so that you may know and
- 3:29understand that the Father is in me, and I am the Father.
- 3:32Therefore they were seeking again to seize him, and he
- 3:35eluded their grasp, and he went away again beyond the Jordan, to
- 3:38the place where John was first baptizing, and he was staying
- 3:41there. Many came to him and were saying
- 3:44while John performed no sign. Yet everything John said about
- 3:48this man was true. Many believed in him there.
