- 0:00Speaker 1: My next guest, she's on the phone. Uh. She's an
- 0:02Speaker 1: HBCU graduate, Uh preview A and M with a degree
- 0:06Speaker 1: in engineering. My dereers in mathematics, so I I can. Uh.
- 0:11Speaker 1: She's kind of like she's a little bit more advanced
- 0:12Speaker 1: than me because she has to take physics and physics
- 0:15Speaker 1: shut me down, Shut me down, can get past physics now.
- 0:18Speaker 1: She's a popular stand up comedian, film star, amy winning
- 0:22Speaker 1: television co host on The Reel, and this past summer,
- 0:25Speaker 1: she was the first woman to host the SS Festival
- 0:28Speaker 1: in New Orleans, Louisiana. She's on the show to talk
- 0:31Speaker 1: about her talk show The Real, her new book, talk
- 0:34Speaker 1: about Cafe Mocha, and her new holiday Ashley Stewart fashion line.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making Conversations, Lonnie Love. Just love her.
- 0:47Speaker 1: This O tell you something before we get started, Lonnie Love,
- 0:49Speaker 1: We're gonna be talking dead serious and she's gonna make
- 0:52Speaker 1: you laugh. I've saw a lot of gifted people. I
- 0:55Speaker 1: was watching The Real other day. They have to keep
- 0:57Speaker 1: The Realist to talk show that she's a co host on.
- 1:00Speaker 1: They have to keep a camera on you because your
- 1:03Speaker 1: physical your physical gestures, your your your uh, your your
- 1:09Speaker 1: side comments are just hysterical. We try to keep levity,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and you know we try to do that well you
- 1:19Speaker 1: you you bring it. You bring it because the reason
- 1:21Speaker 1: I like, I love it and I'm happy you was
- 1:23Speaker 1: able to do my show because sometimes individuals like you
- 1:27Speaker 1: that are so talented, I just like, I just want
- 1:29Speaker 1: to just tell you how good you are personally and
- 1:32Speaker 1: uh and you know there's some people say I care
- 1:34Speaker 1: a little weight in the industry. You know, my what
- 1:36Speaker 1: I say really helps out people and stuff like that.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'm just saying I'm not trying to help you out
- 1:40Speaker 1: because you're being helped by your own talents that God
- 1:42Speaker 1: gave you and you've been and you're tied to hard work. Now,
- 1:46Speaker 1: the fun part about this conversation is that you started
- 1:49Speaker 1: doing stand up and pray of you, which is right
- 1:52Speaker 1: outside of Houston, Texas, because you're Detroit girl. Correct, Yeah, exactly,
- 1:56Speaker 1: that's right. So so now tell me about this whole transition,
- 2:01Speaker 1: because you know you kind of like me in a
- 2:03Speaker 1: way because you know, I wur for i BM. I
- 2:08Speaker 1: got a mad degree and I was doing stand up
- 2:10Speaker 1: comedy at night and then I eventually IBM to pursue
- 2:13Speaker 1: a career stand up. Tell us your background. How all
- 2:16Speaker 1: got started? Well, best UM or really? I got a UM.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I'm front of Brewster projects, didn't handle money, and then
- 2:24Speaker 1: one day I ended up going to UM. I got
- 2:28Speaker 1: a scholarship to go down to Preview and University and UM.
- 2:34Speaker 1: One day, I just even though I had the scholarship,
- 2:36Speaker 1: I didn't have any spending money. I was in a
- 2:38Speaker 1: bad one day and it was like, well, we'll give
- 2:41Speaker 1: somebody fifty dollars for the best story, and I needed
- 2:45Speaker 1: that money. So I just got a fancy of the story.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I don't know what I said. I don't know what
- 2:50Speaker 1: the story. I just made up something and got the
- 2:51Speaker 1: fifty dollars. And that made me realize that people actually
- 2:56Speaker 1: pay people to tell stories. I was like, this is
- 2:59Speaker 1: this is this is nice. But I decided to go
- 3:02Speaker 1: ahead and get my degree since I was already down there,
- 3:05Speaker 1: got a job. I got a job in UM in
- 3:09Speaker 1: Los Angeles at zer Rocks and then UM. I worked
- 3:12Speaker 1: there and I never really thought i'd be a stand up,
- 3:15Speaker 1: but then one day I was like depressed. I didn't
- 3:18Speaker 1: know what I wanted to do in my life. I
- 3:20Speaker 1: just knew I wasn't happy. I didn't want to be married. Um,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I had had boyfriend and all that kind of stuff,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and you know, and you know, you get a nice
- 3:28Speaker 1: job and all this kind of stuff. Is happy to
- 3:30Speaker 1: make the fishes in your life. But I just wasn't happy.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And one day I went to the comedy store and
- 3:36Speaker 1: I saw all these men doing stand up and I
- 3:39Speaker 1: only saw one woman, and I was like, wow, that's interesting.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's just one woman. And she was talking on kind
- 3:45Speaker 1: of stuff, you know how you know, back then, you know,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and in the nineties that stuff. So that's what I
- 3:55Speaker 1: started getting back in it. I started getting back in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the stand up. I built up my career and one
- 4:00Speaker 1: day we had a layoff at my job and I
- 4:02Speaker 1: went to my boss. I said, you know, save the
- 4:04Speaker 1: job to lay me off because I was I was
- 4:06Speaker 1: the worst engineer. And not a says nothing right because
- 4:14Speaker 1: first of all, you would not that's not what you
- 4:16Speaker 1: wanted to do. It's just like IBM, I don't care.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I as good as job as they said I was doing.
- 4:22Speaker 1: My heart was not in the job. That was not
- 4:24Speaker 1: your passion. Your gift was someplace else. And that's why
- 4:27Speaker 1: I bring individuals like you're on the show, because there
- 4:29Speaker 1: are a lot of people out there doing jobs right now.
- 4:31Speaker 1: They're afraid to change, they're afraid to transition. How did
- 4:35Speaker 1: you overcome that fear? Well, I overcome the fear by
- 4:41Speaker 1: making a plan. I need something. First of all, I
- 4:44Speaker 1: had faith, and then I had faith that I knew
- 4:47Speaker 1: that God was gonna, you know, show me the way.
- 4:50Speaker 1: And then um, I had to make a plan. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: my plan was basically, what was I gonna do? So
- 4:56Speaker 1: I tell anybody, no matter what, you know, maybe you
- 4:58Speaker 1: want to open up daycare, you want to, you know,
- 5:01Speaker 1: open up a restaurant, you want to do a catering business.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You know, any whatever is you're trying to do, study it.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And that's one thing I like about engineering. Engineering taught
- 5:10Speaker 1: me how to study and actually it teaches you how
- 5:14Speaker 1: to solve problems. For the problem was I wasn't happy
- 5:17Speaker 1: and I wanted to get out of my current situation.
- 5:19Speaker 1: For I studied, and I just started studying comedy and
- 5:23Speaker 1: and and understanding you know, what was a joke, what
- 5:26Speaker 1: was funny? What wasn't funny? And people say, you can't
- 5:29Speaker 1: you you could be naturally funny. You have to have
- 5:31Speaker 1: that talent. But there's also mechanics to understanding comedy, and
- 5:36Speaker 1: so that's what I did. I studied, and then once
- 5:39Speaker 1: I saw that, you know, the sign for me was
- 5:42Speaker 1: that layoff when I was like, oh, everybody was crying,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I was like, this is my time to get up
- 5:47Speaker 1: and get out. Because the layoff you got severance package,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know. So that gave me a little cushion, you know.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And then I had already started developing some contacts in
- 5:59Speaker 1: the common of the world, so it was it wasn't
- 6:02Speaker 1: an easy transition, but at least it wasn't like I know,
- 6:05Speaker 1: some people they said, I'm gonna do comedy for six months.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Comedy is not a six month thing. You when you
- 6:11Speaker 1: get in it, you gotta get in it, and it's
- 6:14Speaker 1: going to be for a lifetime, you know. It's really funny.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Just just I've never spoken to a comedian with a
- 6:19Speaker 1: with an engineering degree, and it's the same lonic that
- 6:21Speaker 1: I have in math, and I'm hearing a person talked
- 6:24Speaker 1: similar to me. Because it's a plan through the whole process.
- 6:28Speaker 1: The plan I went out there I had. I would
- 6:30Speaker 1: go into the clubs and give people like, uh, you
- 6:32Speaker 1: evaluated by comedy performance, and I would put it in
- 6:36Speaker 1: the foldero get my sheet. They look at me, going,
- 6:38Speaker 1: what are you talking about, saying, it's a it's a
- 6:40Speaker 1: form just check off what you think of me in
- 6:42Speaker 1: and you can mail it in later, and I'm gonna
- 6:45Speaker 1: use this to get me bookings at other clubs. They wait, oh, okay, okay,
- 6:49Speaker 1: We've never had anybody to do this before. I said, yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'm this is how I've been trained for my BM.
- 6:53Speaker 1: You do a job, you give, evaluate evaluated by, and
- 6:56Speaker 1: people will pay you based on your evaluation and just
- 6:59Speaker 1: hearing your jick. It's all in the same place. It's like, okay,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I see these layoffs. Here's an opportunity to let me
- 7:06Speaker 1: take the severs pay. But you also know there's no guarantee.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But you also know that, hey, you you know you
- 7:12Speaker 1: gotta work. It's a it's a long run, and that's
- 7:14Speaker 1: where people start falling off. Mm. Yeah, There's been so
- 7:18Speaker 1: many comics that I know that I've tried to transition,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Like you know, I knew I needed to be in someplace,
- 7:24Speaker 1: either Los Angeles or New York if you really want
- 7:28Speaker 1: to be in the business. I know some comics they
- 7:30Speaker 1: be like, well, you know, I saved up enough money
- 7:32Speaker 1: six months and I'm gonna make it. And it's like, dude,
- 7:35Speaker 1: you're not gonna make it in six months. You know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: It's just it, don't It doesn't work like that. So
- 7:40Speaker 1: I tell anybody, no matter what type of transition you're
- 7:43Speaker 1: trying to make, you gotta have a plan, you um,
- 7:47Speaker 1: And there's nothing I think people feel like, well, you know,
- 7:50Speaker 1: sometimes I don't have to have a security net. Nothing's
- 7:53Speaker 1: wrong to me. Nothing's wrong with having a security net.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I knew that if it didn't work, I could always
- 7:59Speaker 1: do something else. I could teach after that. And that's
- 8:01Speaker 1: another thing. You have your plan, but also have like
- 8:04Speaker 1: a little backup plan. And the backup plan doesn't mean
- 8:07Speaker 1: that you're gonna fail. Is to me, it's just something
- 8:10Speaker 1: in your subconscious that you know you'll be all right,
- 8:13Speaker 1: you know, instead of having nothing at all, you know,
- 8:16Speaker 1: you know, have a plan. This is the great thing
- 8:18Speaker 1: about this, you know I'm talking about because I gotta
- 8:21Speaker 1: I gotta make this. I made it announcement in your
- 8:24Speaker 1: credits about hosting Essence music festivals called Estence Festival now
- 8:29Speaker 1: and walking on the stage, you know, it can be
- 8:31Speaker 1: as a minute, seventy thousand people in front of you, okay,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and then knowing where you started. You know, you knowing
- 8:38Speaker 1: because when you when you start making these transition, telling
- 8:40Speaker 1: people you're telling jokes. They wait, girls, don't you have
- 8:43Speaker 1: a degree in engineering? The people a doubt, you know,
- 8:46Speaker 1: your family members of question, how are you gonna get paid?
- 8:49Speaker 1: How are you gonna get paid? Well? Where's the regular
- 8:51Speaker 1: check at? Now? You you're leaving something good here? You
- 8:54Speaker 1: sure you? Sure you sure? So in that transition, you
- 8:58Speaker 1: have to start surrounding yourself with people who think like
- 9:01Speaker 1: you and have your same passion. Otherwise you won't make
- 9:04Speaker 1: it through the whole process. And to go and to
- 9:08Speaker 1: go from that to be on the stage walking out there.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Talk talk about first of all getting the opportunity of
- 9:14Speaker 1: getting the call to do that, and then walking out
- 9:16Speaker 1: on stage the first time at Essence Festival. Well, the
- 9:20Speaker 1: thing is what people have to realize is number one,
- 9:24Speaker 1: a lot of times everybody's not gonna be happy for you.
- 9:28Speaker 1: A lot of that doubt that they that they that
- 9:30Speaker 1: they sincerely they're they're trying to act like they're since
- 9:33Speaker 1: here and they're worrying and caring about you is their
- 9:36Speaker 1: own fear is that they don't believe that you can
- 9:39Speaker 1: do what you say you're out to do. UM. So
- 9:42Speaker 1: I tell people that you have to believe in yourself.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Is nobody else believes that you believe in yourself. But
- 9:48Speaker 1: with me being the first woman to host as SUS
- 9:52Speaker 1: Festival UM with seventy thousand people, UM to to be
- 9:57Speaker 1: the host to introduce UM l Obama, the first date
- 10:01Speaker 1: United States, that just doesn't come overnight. I've been in
- 10:05Speaker 1: this for twenty years. And the thing is is that
- 10:08Speaker 1: you know, UM, the thing is is that that was
- 10:11Speaker 1: all part of my plan too. It's many nights on
- 10:15Speaker 1: the road. It's it's UM many hours on the road
- 10:19Speaker 1: doing stand up, doing stand up all over the world
- 10:22Speaker 1: and understanding what everyone likes, what makes me different, what
- 10:26Speaker 1: makes me funny, what worked from me? And so when
- 10:31Speaker 1: I kind of got the opportunity and they asked me
- 10:34Speaker 1: Richard new Dennis and Ms. Shelley Banks Um, the CEO
- 10:38Speaker 1: and the owner of Essence, I was ready. I wasn't
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know when they say be ready to you don't
- 10:44Speaker 1: have to get ready. I was ready and I was
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know, everybody was kind of surprised about why there
- 10:50Speaker 1: wasn't ever a female to host. You've been that Rashan,
- 10:58Speaker 1: You know how how how hard it is. I mean,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you know, being a performer, it's not something you have
- 11:05Speaker 1: to captivate the people. But you also you're in charge
- 11:08Speaker 1: of the show. You have to move along. You have
- 11:10Speaker 1: to if they need to stretch, if they need it's
- 11:12Speaker 1: it's not easy. You make it look easy because the performer,
- 11:16Speaker 1: but it's not. And you know I was. I was
- 11:18Speaker 1: happy to be able to get it done. Well. You
- 11:20Speaker 1: know the beautiful thing about it. First of all, it
- 11:22Speaker 1: was your time. You know, being on the reel allowed
- 11:25Speaker 1: your brand to be a recognizable brand. So when you
- 11:27Speaker 1: walked out on that stage, it was that time. And
- 11:30Speaker 1: also you set the groundwork because I remember not last year,
- 11:33Speaker 1: but a couple of years ago when I ran into
- 11:35Speaker 1: your d C when you was welcoming in the new
- 11:37Speaker 1: owner of Essence magazine and Michelle Ebanks, and so that
- 11:42Speaker 1: was like setting the stage of your brand because you
- 11:44Speaker 1: were so funny, you were so professional, you're so articulate.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You you were the ball. Yeah, I was looking at
- 11:50Speaker 1: was you know. I I have a younger brother that
- 11:52Speaker 1: went he said, you know how I said, girl, I
- 11:55Speaker 1: said that girl right there and come along and she's
- 11:57Speaker 1: out of she stopped, I stopped. You know, Roushan, I
- 12:02Speaker 1: really have to say that out of a lot of
- 12:04Speaker 1: people that have inspired me, you have really inspired me.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And I think you and I have talked about it
- 12:10Speaker 1: on several occasions because of the fact that you always,
- 12:14Speaker 1: um give me some encouraging words. You always gonna tell
- 12:18Speaker 1: me what I need to do to get to the
- 12:20Speaker 1: next step, to the next level. Even when doing this podcast,
- 12:24Speaker 1: this is a wealth of information for people because you know,
- 12:28Speaker 1: a lot of times like I didn't know anybody in Hollywood.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I didn't have you know, I didn't have an uncle
- 12:34Speaker 1: or a cousin to hook me up. I know, I
- 12:37Speaker 1: knew nobody. And and that's the thing is that you know,
- 12:42Speaker 1: it's easy for when people say why are you so
- 12:44Speaker 1: passionate about helping inspiring other people, It's because I know
- 12:48Speaker 1: what it's like to not know anybody and to be
- 12:51Speaker 1: able to get your foot in the door. You know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: it's people like you that helped me to inspire me
- 12:57Speaker 1: and get me the connections that I need it and
- 13:01Speaker 1: you know, and let me know if I'm doing something wrong,
- 13:03Speaker 1: if I'm doing something right, um, you know, and what
- 13:06Speaker 1: what I need to work and that's and I have
- 13:10Speaker 1: to thank you for that. I appreciate because I remember
- 13:12Speaker 1: when she did u appearance on Boris Cold on His Wife.
- 13:16Speaker 1: I was there watching her and she said, girl, I
- 13:19Speaker 1: knew you doing this show. I had to come check
- 13:21Speaker 1: you out. And then Boris Code Joe and I was.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I was there. There was a premier episode. They said,
- 13:26Speaker 1: why are you here? I said, hey, man, I'm just here.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I flew into town just to tell you I got
- 13:30Speaker 1: you back. And they were like stunt and and that's
- 13:33Speaker 1: just a quality side of me that I respect. I
- 13:35Speaker 1: know how hard it isn't get these moments. So when
- 13:38Speaker 1: we come back, I'm gonna talk to my friend Lonnie
- 13:40Speaker 1: Love about her. We're gonna talk about the real little
- 13:43Speaker 1: but she got a book coming out and she has
- 13:45Speaker 1: a clothing line that's on that right now you can
- 13:47Speaker 1: go on line and buy. And I'm gonna ask she
- 13:49Speaker 1: could she be a part of Rashard McDonald's Cyber Monday.
- 13:51Speaker 1: We'll be back with more money making conversations with the
- 13:54Speaker 1: incredible Lonnie Love. My guess he's a popular stand up comedian,
- 13:57Speaker 1: film star, I mean, winning television co host on the
- 14:00Speaker 1: Reel the Talk show on the reel and this past
- 14:03Speaker 1: summer we just talked about it, the first female host
- 14:07Speaker 1: of SAS Festival in New Orleans and that whole weekend.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It's probably about anywhere from a half million to six
- 14:13Speaker 1: hundred thousand people attend that festival every year in New Orleans.
- 14:16Speaker 1: So the power to put that on your resume is amazing.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But the thing I love about Learning Love is that
- 14:23Speaker 1: she understands multiple levels of income. She learns about divers
- 14:26Speaker 1: in her chest. She want to be sleep sometimes when
- 14:29Speaker 1: the when the money come in the mailbox. Well, that's
- 14:31Speaker 1: what she's working on in and that's what she's working
- 14:33Speaker 1: on right now. Let's talk about this clothing line. I
- 14:37Speaker 1: got the website up right now. I'm looking at the
- 14:39Speaker 1: clothing line. You actually are modeling some of the clothes,
- 14:42Speaker 1: which is awesome to talk about the whole creation of
- 14:45Speaker 1: Lonnie Love and Ashley Stewart, the brand UM. You know
- 14:52Speaker 1: that actually it really helps women in our community, especially
- 14:57Speaker 1: in the African American community. And what happened. They had
- 15:00Speaker 1: hired me to um M see um a scholarship packet
- 15:06Speaker 1: called Finding Ms Ashley Stewart, and I've done it two
- 15:09Speaker 1: years in the row and from that the CEO James Reef,
- 15:13Speaker 1: which UM, I would employ you to have him come
- 15:16Speaker 1: on your show. UM. He Basically we started talking and
- 15:21Speaker 1: I told him, I said, you know plus size brand, UM,
- 15:27Speaker 1: we really don't have. And and there's and I caused
- 15:30Speaker 1: controversy by saying this, I said that there aren't any
- 15:35Speaker 1: When I was growing up, I didn't know of any
- 15:38Speaker 1: plus size icons that had a clothing line. Now, when
- 15:43Speaker 1: we say someone like Queen Latifa, Queen Atifa had a
- 15:47Speaker 1: makeup line, UM, Oprah never had a clothing line where
- 15:52Speaker 1: you never saw her modeling Gucci. You never saw her,
- 15:55Speaker 1: you know, It's just it just wasn't there. And so
- 15:59Speaker 1: what I want to do is now you do have
- 16:01Speaker 1: plus five models, but we steel UM in the plus
- 16:05Speaker 1: five community don't have the type of UM coverage I
- 16:11Speaker 1: believe that we should have. So when I started working
- 16:13Speaker 1: with Ashley Stewart, they said, well, let's just let's just
- 16:16Speaker 1: test some something out. And so this is like a
- 16:19Speaker 1: holiday collection that I actually curated and it's been flying
- 16:26Speaker 1: off to the shelves. I actually model the clothes. I
- 16:30Speaker 1: have to also model the clothes, and it's been it's
- 16:34Speaker 1: been doing so great. It's ten pieces, and um, the
- 16:39Speaker 1: reason why I picked the Ashley Stewart and I always
- 16:41Speaker 1: tell people be careful when you pick these brands. But
- 16:44Speaker 1: they get back to our community. They put scholarships in
- 16:48Speaker 1: my name for HBCU, and um, they give scholarships to
- 16:54Speaker 1: our women, they give jobs to our women in our communities.
- 16:58Speaker 1: And these are the type of brands that I want
- 16:59Speaker 1: to work with. But also, you know, we all want
- 17:02Speaker 1: to look good and we should be able to look
- 17:05Speaker 1: good at an affordable price. So these pieces are something
- 17:08Speaker 1: that I curated. Um, they'll be there. Um if you

- 19:38Speaker 1: you want to feel good and you want to look good.
- 19:41Speaker 1: And like I said, what I stressed more than anything
- 19:44Speaker 1: is that they make us look good. They fit the
- 19:47Speaker 1: right way, they cut the right way, and they're affordable.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Every woman should be able to feel beautiful. And that's

- 21:15Speaker 1: in two weeks. I want to put you your your
- 21:18Speaker 1: clothing line as a part of that, a part of
- 21:21Speaker 1: that launch I'm doing a couple of everything is about
- 21:23Speaker 1: people I know, people I care about as a young
- 21:25Speaker 1: man who has a beard company. You know, it's called
- 21:27Speaker 1: Rugged Evolution. I want to put in there. I want
- 21:30Speaker 1: to put this in there, and I also want to
- 21:31Speaker 1: put in your book on preseller. I want to make
- 21:34Speaker 1: that transition because I definitely want to talk about that book.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You start getting the word out, because I know pre
- 21:38Speaker 1: marketing is really key. So that book could be number
- 21:41Speaker 1: one best selling when it drops, because it could be
- 21:43Speaker 1: a number one best seller based on your pre sale
- 21:45Speaker 1: or that first week. So let's talk about this book
- 21:47Speaker 1: that you got out here. Okay, UM, this is my
- 21:50Speaker 1: second book. It's called I Tried to Change But You
- 21:54Speaker 1: Don't Have. It's a memoir and it's called True Life
- 21:57Speaker 1: Lessons and Um. Each chapter has a lesson that I learned,
- 22:03Speaker 1: and it starts from the beginning to when I when
- 22:06Speaker 1: I was in the booster projects that you know, how
- 22:09Speaker 1: my influences were Diana Ross and and people like that,
- 22:13Speaker 1: all the way up until you know, I got to
- 22:16Speaker 1: the real I talk about everything about how I got
- 22:19Speaker 1: to the real. I talk about how I got my
- 22:22Speaker 1: first development deal. I talked about how I survived the
- 22:26Speaker 1: crack era, Um, how I got into college. Um, everything
- 22:31Speaker 1: is in this book. And there's so many lessons and
- 22:33Speaker 1: the reason why I wanted to write a memoir because
- 22:35Speaker 1: people are always asking me, you know, how did you
- 22:39Speaker 1: make it, what happened? What did you learn in life?
- 22:41Speaker 1: And so this is just a perfect time to do it.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And um, you know, I think it's important for us.
- 22:47Speaker 1: I always tell everybody journal your life. I don't care
- 22:51Speaker 1: who you are or where you are in your life.
- 22:54Speaker 1: You know, even every day or even every week, just
- 22:57Speaker 1: write something. You know, get your book and keep a
- 23:00Speaker 1: journal of what is happening in your life. Because there's
- 23:03Speaker 1: gonna be times they're gonna look back and you're gonna
- 23:05Speaker 1: be like, wow, I did that, I did that, or
- 23:08Speaker 1: you know they're happy times, a sad times. It's important
- 23:11Speaker 1: to journal. And so this one is something that, um,
- 23:14Speaker 1: I never thought being growing up as little girl in Detroit,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I would be an Emmy winner. People need to understand
- 23:21Speaker 1: anything is possible in this country. And I say people
- 23:24Speaker 1: like you, Rashan McDonald, where you worked hard and you
- 23:29Speaker 1: cracked the code in Hollywood, being a major player in Hollywood.
- 23:33Speaker 1: It's like those are the type of lessons that we
- 23:36Speaker 1: need to understand and know about because we're very smart people,
- 23:40Speaker 1: were very creative people, and we just like to share
- 23:43Speaker 1: our creativity with people. So this is what it's called.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I tried to change so you don't have to. You
- 23:48Speaker 1: can pre order it at Lonnie love Book dot com.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Lonnie love Book dot com. Again, that's gonna be in
- 23:56Speaker 1: my cyber drop. Also give me a banner or some
- 23:59Speaker 1: man to the executive producers shows right now, all this
- 24:01Speaker 1: down because I know it takes a team to be
- 24:04Speaker 1: able to push success, and I'm part of your team,
- 24:08Speaker 1: and so I acknowledge that. Now I want to make
- 24:11Speaker 1: a quick announcement that because The Real has been renewed. Correct,
- 24:14Speaker 1: The Real to Talk Show has been renewed. Yeah, how
- 24:18Speaker 1: many seasons? This is season sick and it's been renewed
- 24:23Speaker 1: for two more seasons. I congratulations, congratulations. You know the
- 24:32Speaker 1: thing about it, and you know, it's really interesting. I
- 24:35Speaker 1: look at my life and I looked at so many
- 24:37Speaker 1: different levels of success, and I'm so happy with what
- 24:40Speaker 1: I'm doing now because I'm actually doing what I want
- 24:42Speaker 1: to do. You know, you can somewhere in life allow
- 24:45Speaker 1: the process, even though there's massive amount of success. You're
- 24:48Speaker 1: really doing what the process is telling you to do.
- 24:51Speaker 1: And and when I watch you, I'm always smiling. I'm
- 24:55Speaker 1: always you can the radio show are you know? There's
- 24:58Speaker 1: so many different levels that you allowed to communicate your
- 25:01Speaker 1: brand and the thing I want to just tell you this,
- 25:04Speaker 1: when you talked about Ashley Stewart opportunity that has happening
- 25:07Speaker 1: now you hosted the show. Okay, when you talk about

- 25:15Speaker 1: on that stage hosting that event, and you were incredible.
- 25:18Speaker 1: You were funny, you were irreverent, you know, you were
- 25:21Speaker 1: all those all those things. But then again you came

- 25:26Speaker 1: you can throw out aside Joe crack up the room,
- 25:28Speaker 1: and then you just come back so cool, like like,

- 25:39Speaker 1: I just want I just want to let you know
