- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Hey wife, it has been so I've got something that we want to kind of cover and it's really just like a huge thank you to our patrons huge thank you I mean unbelievably huge thank you so huge we have fireworks going on.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's all for our patrons the fireworks
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: just that we did we got it we did all for the patrons yeah obviously not that we're recording on the fourth and it just is you know loud as fuck out side of our house right right um that's not at all no of course not so I kind of need to go into the back story here a little bit
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's the way, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude,
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: are granted to us, but our patrons really came through first.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I have had a rough time lately.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Rough time lately being like the last year?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but specifically the last like three or four months.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I'm not going to go into all the details, but I am going to cover something about it.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: And that's that.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: I had a job that, and this is kind of when things started to go really self.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: I took a management role and signed up for family insurance as I do.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: Right, obviously.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I have a family and wife needs health care and kidney health care and you know all the things.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: And in America health care is tied to employment and I am free here.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're one of our friends from over the pond, it ain't fucking free.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: It ain't fucking free.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: I can tell you that without question.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: But in the past, I, you know, I had it.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: regularly paid somewhere between 600 and maybe a hundred bucks a month for family insurance, which to me is astronomical, right?
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I was never happy about it before, but that's how much I was paying.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: But that's to be expected.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Just to be expected.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: For family health care, that's to be expected and fortunate enough.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's not outside the norm.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I took this role and I'm not going to say what company I'm not going to say like not on the air.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: I took a role.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a management role in the high sign-up for insurance and it told us it said 922 dollars I didn't think about it beyond that.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't dig into it beyond that because I had to have family insurance 900 some would be more than what you're used to but not beyond the realm of expectation And again, it is what it is do a whole is right sure.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: it turned out that that was the bi-weekly cost so not 900 in some a month now i was eighteen hundred and something a month right and and that is not doable friends and i i i i to so i i took one day off during a two week period and i received a paycheck of fifty four dollars fifty four fucking dollars it is laughable
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: I, it's so laughable I quit.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: Right, I quit.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: Get an even go back.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: Literally, I didn't even go back because it's not worth fucking gas mileage.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I take it one day off that week and I made it, I had a paycheck referred to it.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, it was a fucking insult.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: And so I tried to supplement us while I was searching for another job by door-dashing.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: To delivering for door-dashing.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I took another job that didn't work out, which I'm not going to go into details on that.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: There's reasons there with bad management.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: It is what it is.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then I finally have another job that seems like it's going to probably pan out.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you've been there a few weeks and actually really like it.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right, but we've been kind of struggling for quite a while.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, letting a few things slide here, a few things side there, and we fell pretty fucking far behind, and
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: I basically didn't, I came up to two, three, four days before rent was due and I realized that there was no resources left that I had that I had that would save us this month that I had.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: We managed to keep the water running and the electricity on and the gas powered and
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: bare minimum groceries in the cabinet, but when it was due.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Ram was due.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: And we tapped out family.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: We had no savings.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I was out of options.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't do this, but we asked our patrons.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: and you know I have done one other fundraiser before it was a fundraiser for some sound equipment that was for the podcast or five years ago I think and it was for the podcast so it tracked it made sense right it didn't have any kind of gilded touch to it because it was to help specifically with
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: what we're doing right and honestly full disclosure you know we we make 255 dollars right now per month from our patrons and that's the full income we make for saco logist discourse which we're immensely great so grateful for and it keeps the podcast going yeah yeah and often puts gas in the gas tank last month or two it has put some gas in the gas tank unfortunately that's just where we were at and
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I got on to Patreon, and I put up a post asking for help, and our patrons came through almost immediately, and it's such an incredible, incredible way that I could never even have imagined that it would happen like that.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was, it was a Hail Mary, we have no world to turn maybe this will help.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: We asked for $1,000, because that was our goal, like our minimum goal to pay our rent, because I still had to go out and do it.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was a little bit to make up the difference, but I knew I could do that.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: And we raised that $1,000 in 24 hours.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: 24 hours.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: I have to go down the list here.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: for my gift from on this court so i had thank you bready that was an incredible donation that you gave
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, after that we have Patty and Doug who are also on our discord very often.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Mike P. I think it's on our discord.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not positive about that.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Marcus.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's on our discord.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, mark him.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Conrad, Frederick H. They all gave it the same level.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: Level just, you know, blow, bready, but not, I think it was 250 for bready.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter for other S. these guys.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: Jesus Christ.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just, I'm floored and
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: And then old man Brandon on our discord 75 max 50.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, much from our discord of your across the pond has been able to make one for a while.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: He was 40.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: I still call him from our discord, even though he hasn't been able to make it because this is so much.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: We do.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just like we would love to do a different time for one of our lives like per month.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: So we could actually get a image back in the mix because a image was a blast.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, Bridget, $25 and Margaret P. Polly from our discord, $5, which, honestly, you have no idea, though.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: You have no idea, and thank you.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sitting here trying not to cry because it's, that's ridiculous, y'all.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous, thank you.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: And such, in the most wonderful way.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And we were debating whether to put up a podcast episode or just do this as a like a filler thing in the middle of an episode, but we did the side of do our own a separate podcast episode because it would have just rambled on for way too long in an episode because we are incredibly grateful to you all.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's just without, without even, I mean, without even asking questions y'all just
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, I'm emotionally overcome because I don't have a lot of people to turn to in my life and you all just helped.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I can help.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that a lot of people think that podcasters are automatically rich and doing well and whatever.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: And the truth is that most of us aren't.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: And we've always been honest about that, but yeah, we've always been honest about that.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: But we're a top 5% podcasters, but we've never really done this for the money.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't have the angle into a lot of the money side aspects of things.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: beyond words.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: So forwhelming, overwhelming.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm without words because there's so many people that I would love to do this for if I had the money and to know that I am that to somebody else is just wow.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: I often talk about,
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: I often talk about a lack of like a belief in God or anything like that and I don't, but what I believe in is humanity and connection and empathy and sharing kindness and, you know, to me, that's, that's what a spiritual existence is.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_00]: very kind and very well taken and thank you all for just the responses that you gave to the messages I said.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: It means the world.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it means we get to stay at our house.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So like that's that's absolutely huge because our our landlords would like not hesitate to share that I shared that with a couple of people.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: They would love to see us go out like snippets of how I've done with them in the past our landlords are just terrible.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're so bad like they would be like, oh, you're five days late.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_01]: Leave your keys on the counter.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: Five days, five fucking minutes.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: No, I know.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: You shouldn't get a shit.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: So they literally wait to like clock ticks over to midnight before they send somebody out to post a... Yeah, you're late.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I don't really have much else to say than thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: Just with everything that we have, thank you.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: Hi.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: I guess the fire works for you.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the fire works for you.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know how to end this.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: Just, you know, I can't, like I said, I can't say thank you enough.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess we just ended.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
