- 0:00Speaker 1: Communism is a loser and it always will be. The
- 0:05Speaker 1: communist system is the opposite of the American system, and
- 0:09Speaker 1: the communist system has never worked.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Our warriors did not fight.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Communism on battlefields across the world only to have that
- 0:16Speaker 1: metas rear its ugly head right back here in America.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We're not going to let it happen.
- 0:21Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Good Monday morning.
- 0:26Speaker 4: It's so nice to have you with us on the
- 0:27Speaker 4: forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one big story
- 0:31Speaker 4: for you. Two very different perspectives on the two hundred
- 0:34Speaker 4: and fiftieth anniversary in this country. One coming from President
- 0:38Speaker 4: Donald Trump celebrating America, and the other coming from the
- 0:41Speaker 4: democratic communist socialist Marxist Mundani talking all doom and gloom.
- 0:48Speaker 4: So how could the messages be this different on the
- 0:51Speaker 4: same day. We're going to break it down for you
- 0:54Speaker 4: and exactly what the Democrats had to say. Now, before
- 0:57Speaker 4: we get to that, I want to give you something
- 1:00Speaker 4: right now for free to celebrate America's two hundred and
- 1:03Speaker 4: fifty years of independence as well as to stand with
- 1:06Speaker 4: our ally Israel. I want to give you the same
- 1:10Speaker 4: pin that I wear when I'm on TV. It is

- 1:28Speaker 4: Because as we celebrate two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of America,
- 1:32Speaker 4: it is a milestone, but it's also a time to
- 1:34Speaker 4: reflect on the enduring relationship between the US and Israel.
- 1:39Speaker 2: They are our greatest ally. President John F.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Kennedy once said Israel was not created in order to disappear.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Israel will endure and flourish, And those words they really
- 1:50Speaker 4: capture the spirit of a young democracy determined to survive.
- 1:54Speaker 4: You have two nations, thousands of miles apart, yet united
- 1:58Speaker 4: by shared values of democracy, of faith, freedom, and resilience.
- 2:03Speaker 4: So as we celebrate two hundred and fifty years of independence,
- 2:06Speaker 4: the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, not only have
- 2:09Speaker 4: they turn to God in prayer, but they ask for
- 2:12Speaker 4: his wisdom that will guide elected officials and lead America
- 2:16Speaker 4: and Israel to moral clarity and national unity. So show
- 2:20Speaker 4: your excitement for America and for Israel, and get your
- 2:25Speaker 4: free USA Israel. Flagpen right now, go to flagpen IFCJ
- 2:32Speaker 4: dot org. That's FLAGPENIFCJ dot org. It's the forty seven
- 2:36Speaker 4: Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 2:40Speaker 4: As America is celebrated it's two hundred and fiftieth birthday
- 2:44Speaker 4: the country, we witnessed something that was really kind of shocking.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Two completely different visions of the United States. And the
- 2:54Speaker 4: contrast was also one that you couldn't see any sharper
- 2:57Speaker 4: than the two different men delivering speeches. You had one
- 3:01Speaker 4: that was President Donald Trump. He stood before one of
- 3:05Speaker 4: the most iconic backdrops in America, first at Mount Rushmore
- 3:09Speaker 4: and later at the National Mall.
- 3:11Speaker 2: And what did he do? It was incredible.
- 3:13Speaker 4: He told Americans that the nation's greatest days are still ahead.
- 3:17Speaker 2: His message was clear.
- 3:19Speaker 4: It's centered around optimism, American exceptionalism, military strength, innovation, faith,
- 3:26Speaker 4: and the belief that the United States remains, yes, the
- 3:30Speaker 4: greatest country on Earth. He described what he called it
- 3:34Speaker 4: new quote Golden Age of America and repeatedly urge Americans
- 3:38Speaker 4: to celebrate their country instead of apologizing for it. Now
- 3:42Speaker 4: the President, well, what he said was all about celebrating
- 3:45Speaker 4: the greatest country and it wasn't actually political. It was
- 3:50Speaker 4: about having pride in your country.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Take a list. To the President in his own words.
- 3:56Speaker 1: For two hundred and fifty years, the United States of
- 3:59Speaker 1: America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and
- 4:04Speaker 1: the glory among all of the nations of the world.
- 4:07Speaker 1: All over the world, they try and be like us.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Nobody can be like us. And with God's help, we
- 4:12Speaker 1: will always be.
- 4:14Speaker 2: This or even better. We're going to be better.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Here on our national mall, we're celebrating freedom's triumph over tyranny,
- 4:27Speaker 1: liberty's conquest over oppression, and the enduring victory of the
- 4:32Speaker 1: American spirit. From the July fourth, seventeen seventy six to
- 4:38Speaker 1: July fourth.
- 4:39Speaker 2: That's big dates, two big ones.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And tonight our country is stronger, freer, richer, safer, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: prouder than ever before.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Now. The President wasn't done there.
- 4:52Speaker 4: He celebrated America, but he also talked about the real
- 4:55Speaker 4: warning of what America has to be careful of, what
- 4:59Speaker 4: we we have to make sure America never becomes. And
- 5:03Speaker 4: the President made it clear the communism he believes is
- 5:06Speaker 4: the number one threat to the United States of America.
- 5:11Speaker 2: As he said this.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Across the generations Americans have fought, bled and died not
- 5:17Speaker 1: just to secure those rights, but to expand them to
- 5:21Speaker 1: citizens of every race, religion, color, and creed.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Because we are one people. We are one family. You
- 5:29Speaker 2: showed that tonight with one.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Flag, And as our Declaration of Independence tells us, we
- 5:38Speaker 1: are all made in the image of one almighty God.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And a communist will never say that.
- 5:53Speaker 5: That's for sure.
- 5:55Speaker 6: Now.
- 5:55Speaker 4: The President wasn't done there. He also talked about how
- 5:58Speaker 4: he believes that America, who will never become a communist
- 6:02Speaker 4: country as long as we understand exactly what makes us
- 6:05Speaker 4: so great.
- 6:07Speaker 6: As they said last night at the beautiful Mount Rushmore,
- 6:10Speaker 6: what a beautiful place where Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore
- 6:15Speaker 6: Roosevelt loomed over my shoulder as I.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Spoke, America will never be a communist country.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Won't happen.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Communism is a loser and it always will be. The
- 6:30Speaker 1: communist system is the opposite of the American system, and
- 6:34Speaker 1: the communist system has never worked. Our warriors did not
- 6:38Speaker 1: fight communism on battlefields across the world only to have
- 6:42Speaker 1: that menace rear its ugly head.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Right back here in America. We're not going to let
- 6:47Speaker 2: it happen.
- 6:53Speaker 1: We like to stop a threat like that immediately and
- 6:57Speaker 1: before it begins. Just like a cancer, you got to
- 6:59Speaker 1: cut it down, You got to cut.
- 7:00Speaker 6: It out fast.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Now you may ask yourself, why did the President make
- 7:05Speaker 4: sure he talked about this on America's two hundred and
- 7:07Speaker 4: fiftieth anniversary celebration. Well, it's pretty simple because on the
- 7:12Speaker 4: other side, the Democratic Party had their message to America
- 7:15Speaker 4: and it was delivered by New York City Mayor Mandani,
- 7:19Speaker 4: who used America's two hundred and fiftieth to address the focus.
- 7:23Speaker 4: He says on all of America's shortcomings, criticizing immigration enforcement,
- 7:28Speaker 4: wanting to obviously abolish ice and have open borders. Then
- 7:33Speaker 4: he had at tax on what he described as oligarchs
- 7:36Speaker 4: and systems of supremacy, and then argued that America must
- 7:40Speaker 4: continue confronting its flaws rather than simply celebrating America and
- 7:47Speaker 4: its achievements. Now, whether you agree with that man or not,
- 7:51Speaker 4: it's pretty messed up on the day, on the anniversary
- 7:54Speaker 4: of America or two fiftieth birthday, that this is what
- 7:58Speaker 4: he had to say to the Amica worn people.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Take a listen, American exceptionalism, American exceptionalism, the conventional wisdom
- 8:06Speaker 5: tells us, makes our freedom a little more free. Is
- 8:09Speaker 5: how we dug the Erie Canal and irrigated the west.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Is why children in far away lands grow up dreaming
- 8:14Speaker 5: of one day moving here. And yet the irony is
- 8:17Speaker 5: that the story of America has so often been written
- 8:20Speaker 5: by those who were told by others with power and
- 8:22Speaker 5: influence and wealth that they were anything but exceptional. For
- 8:26Speaker 5: generation after generation, we have been told that when the
- 8:29Speaker 5: world has sent its people to our shores, it has
- 8:32Speaker 5: not sent its best. It sent Puritans and Sikhs and
- 8:35Speaker 5: Quakers and Muslims and Jewish people who were banished for
- 8:38Speaker 5: praying the wrong way, worshiping the wrong gods, angering the
- 8:42Speaker 5: wrong people. It sent peasants and serfs from slums and
- 8:45Speaker 5: chettles who were treated as less because they hardly owned clothes,
- 8:48Speaker 5: let alone land. It sent immigrants from whom power was
- 8:52Speaker 5: something someone else had. We are told that America is
- 8:55Speaker 5: exceptional because we are richer, stronger, more powerful than everyone else.
- 9:02Speaker 5: The truth, my friends, is that America is exceptional because
- 9:05Speaker 5: here nothing is fixed into place. The frontier may be closed,
- 9:10Speaker 5: we may have walked on the moon, but the work
- 9:12Speaker 5: of fulfilling the values first enshrined in the Declaration of Independence,
- 9:16Speaker 5: that work endures, and it belongs to us all. It
- 9:20Speaker 5: belongs to to our newest Americans, those standing here with
- 9:23Speaker 5: me today, all of whom were recently naturalized. Nearly a
- 9:27Speaker 5: decade ago, I too felt what you feel, the joy
- 9:30Speaker 5: of no longer being just a New Yorker, but an
- 9:33Speaker 5: American too. You each hold a special power, the power
- 9:37Speaker 5: to determine what America means. The powerful have always known
- 9:41Speaker 5: their answer. America, in their view, is an arena of supremacy,
- 9:45Speaker 5: where only a select few or allowed freedom, where not
- 9:48Speaker 5: all are created equal. America, if you ask them, becomes
- 9:52Speaker 5: less the more people it welcomes. America, they will tell you,
- 9:56Speaker 5: belongs only to those with the right accent or the
- 9:58Speaker 5: right trade of skin. The rest of us, they insist,
- 10:01Speaker 5: should be grateful for merely being allowed to visit. How
- 10:04Speaker 5: small they are, how weak, how unoriginal. At every moment
- 10:09Speaker 5: in our past, those who led through exclusion and isolation
- 10:13Speaker 5: have tried to win power and enrich themselves by turning
- 10:16Speaker 5: us against one another. Division is the oldest trick in
- 10:20Speaker 5: politics and the cheapest, But time and again, including two
- 10:24Speaker 5: hundred and fifty years ago, those forces of division have
- 10:28Speaker 5: been vanquished by the forces of progress.
- 10:32Speaker 4: It truly is amazing to watch the Democratic leader sit
- 10:36Speaker 4: there on America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday and focus
- 10:40Speaker 4: on every reason why he wants you to hate the
- 10:43Speaker 4: United States of America, Why he wants you to feel
- 10:46Speaker 4: like America must be undone, that America is so fawed
- 10:50Speaker 4: it's impossible to celebrate any of its achievements or accomplishments.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:55Speaker 4: President Trump's speech was very clear there was one design
- 10:59Speaker 4: to inspire all of us to have confidence, and his
- 11:02Speaker 4: central argument was that America is actually worse celebrating because
- 11:06Speaker 4: of what generations after generations of Americans have built together,
- 11:12Speaker 4: and also because the country still has limitless potential. He
- 11:16Speaker 4: pointed to the military the specific achievements that they've accomplished
- 11:21Speaker 4: fighting literal wars around the world and winning them to
- 11:25Speaker 4: save humanity.
- 11:26Speaker 2: He talked about.
- 11:27Speaker 4: How incredible America's economic opportunity is for all Americans and
- 11:32Speaker 4: American history, and what we've just done over the last
- 11:36Speaker 4: two hundred and fifty years is the reason for great
- 11:39Speaker 4: optimism and celebration. But then you look at Mindani. He
- 11:44Speaker 4: took almost the opposite approach. Rather than making the anniversary
- 11:48Speaker 4: primarily about national celebration, he framed it as an opportunity
- 11:53Speaker 4: to attack and to talk about any injustice, any issue
- 11:59Speaker 4: that he disagreed with America aunt or the president. Immigration
- 12:04Speaker 4: was a great example. Another one was how he was
- 12:07Speaker 4: attacking anyone that had become wealthy and worked hard. And
- 12:11Speaker 4: then of course he says, in America has much work
- 12:13Speaker 4: that needs to be done, and really we shouldn't just
- 12:16Speaker 4: be sitting here and celebrating. And that's why this has
- 12:19Speaker 4: truly become an incredible political moment. I couldn't have guessed
- 12:23Speaker 4: this ten years ago or even five years ago, that
- 12:26Speaker 4: on America's two hundred and fiftieth birthday, that the Democratic
- 12:30Speaker 4: Party would trash a country while America was looking for
- 12:34Speaker 4: someone to defend.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It, to celebrate it.
- 12:38Speaker 4: It's two very completely different narratives about America itself. One
- 12:42Speaker 4: that says America is fundamentally an extraordinary nation that deserves gratitude, pride,
- 12:48Speaker 4: and celebration while also continuing to improve, and the other
- 12:52Speaker 4: says America's founding ideals are well flawed and that they
- 12:58Speaker 4: should basically be all undone, and that you shouldn't be
- 13:02Speaker 4: proud on this Independence Day, and even Vice President J. D.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Vance appeared to reference that divide when he said Americans
- 13:09Speaker 4: shouldn't allow small but loud voices to define the country
- 13:15Speaker 4: only by its flaws, arguing instead that the nation should
- 13:18Speaker 4: face the future with confidence and pride. It's also worth
- 13:22Speaker 4: noting that critics and supporters interpret these speeches very differently.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Of course, supporters of Mindani and there's a growing number
- 13:30Speaker 4: of Americans that like him, They actually argue he was
- 13:33Speaker 4: expressing a quote patriotic belief that America honors its founding
- 13:38Speaker 4: principles by striving to improve and include more people aka
- 13:43Speaker 4: open borders. But when you look at these two speeches,
- 13:47Speaker 4: it was pretty clear who the real leader was. President
- 13:50Speaker 4: Trump asked Americans to celebrate what has been accomplished and
- 13:54Speaker 4: believes that the future is.
- 13:55Speaker 2: Brighter than ever before.
- 13:57Speaker 4: And the other one they challenged Americans to focus on
- 14:01Speaker 4: all the bad things that they want you to say
- 14:04Speaker 4: America therefore needs to be destroyed because of them. In
- 14:08Speaker 4: that contrast, well, that may end up being remembered as
- 14:12Speaker 4: one of the defining political moments of not only America's
- 14:15Speaker 4: turning in for theieth birthday, but also heading into the
- 14:18Speaker 4: midterm and the next presidential election.
