- 0:00This is Pastor Daniel Stevenson. I'm director of the Southside Life Station and pastor of New Heights Fellowship Baptist Church of East Toledo.
- 0:05And you're receiving this message because you opted in to be encouraged.
- 0:09Continuing our pursuit through the book of Acts in Acts 15 24, we see an interesting verse where it says,
- 0:15Since we have heard that some of our number to whom we gave no instruction have disturbed you with their words, unsettling souls.
- 0:23So the men who had brought the false teachings were not even sent by the church.
- 0:28They had delivered teachings that were not in line with the teachings of the church, but they were still numbered among the number.
- 0:35This is interesting. A teacher can teach a false teaching in error and not be counted out as long as he adjusts once corrected.
- 0:44I guess I'd rather be right in the first place. That's going to require some work.
- 0:48Studying my Bible, praying, serving, giving, being in the church with other believers, submitting to accountability.
- 0:55That's going to require some work. But just being wrong about something in the Bible, just teaching something wrong,
- 1:01does not disqualify a person from being a believer or even being part of the church.
- 1:06It's about what you do when you figure out you are wrong.
- 1:09Do you repent and turn to the Lord and let God affect your heart and change you?
- 1:14Surely you can examine your own life and determine when you're wrong and need to turn to the Lord.
- 1:19I encourage you today, if you've been walking in a manner unworthy of the salvation that Jesus purchased for you,
- 1:26repent and turn to God either for the first time or again today and live your life according to Jesus's teachings,
- 1:34following him as Lord. An eternity is at stake, but also an abundant life here today, lived with Christ at its center.
