- 0:00You know, I think somebody needs to tell the
- 0:04London Knights that they're allowed to lose a
- 0:06fucking game here and there. That they have now
- 0:09won 28 of their last 30 playoff games. They're
- 0:14allowed to lose a game here and there. Do they
- 0:16know that? Apparently not. They can. They have
- 0:21swept six of their last seven playoff series.
- 0:26The only one that they did not sweep was the
- 0:28conference finals last year against Saginaw.
- 0:31They lost that one in six, and then went on to
- 0:34lose to them in the Memorial Cup final. So apparently,
- 0:39if you want the London Knights to lose a playoff
- 0:42game, you just got to send the Saginaw their
- 0:44way. Which obviously they almost did, but you
- 0:48know. Hmm, they lost to a pretty familiar team.
- 0:52A team they were pretty familiar with. I don't
- 0:54know. I mean, I'm looking over Jeffy's right
- 0:56shoulder there, too. One of the beautiful -looking
- 0:59jerseys. I don't know. The crest, that beautiful
- 1:01logo on the crest. They don't use that logo anymore,
- 1:04but it's what that logo represents. As Connor
- 1:08McDavid would say, to wear the jersey now, it
- 1:11means something. He said that during his jersey
- 1:14retirement, when I first got here, it did not
- 1:16mean, you know, it was... It didn't mean that
- 1:18much or it wasn't as important as it is now.
- 1:20But now you've got to wear that jersey with pride
- 1:22because it means something now. And obviously,
- 1:25him being the one, the reason that his number
- 1:29is now up in the rafters. I hope they keep it
- 1:34on the ice. I doubt they will next year. I don't
- 1:36think so. But obviously, his number is going
- 1:38to be up there forever now. And that will never
- 1:42be worn by an Erie Otter. Again, not in that
- 1:46building. Not anywhere else. Yeah, these Londonites,
- 1:52man, they, oh my god. Anyways, yeah, Colin found
- 1:57this fun fact. We are now seeing the first rematch
- 2:01in OHL history. And it's the third time in OHA
- 2:07slash OHL history. Last time it happened was
- 2:101954 and 1955 between the Toronto Marlboros and
- 2:14the St. Catharines teepees. Also happened in
- 2:181949 -41, also the Toronto Marlboros and the
- 2:20Oshawa Generals. So, again, the Oshawa Generals
- 2:23have done it twice. But now, instead of the Toronto
- 2:28Marlboros, it is the London Knights. Which, I
- 2:31did not see them going on to sweep Barry. I did
- 2:34not see that coming. Neither did I. I honestly
- 2:36thought Barry was a much better team this year.
- 2:39Also, keep in mind, going into the Eastern Conference
- 2:43Finals over there, I'll show one in Barry. They
- 2:48went home for games three and four up to nothing,
- 2:51which, you know, it's rare to see at this stage
- 2:56in the playoffs for any level to lose both games
- 3:02on home ice. You expect it on the first round,
- 3:05any league, because, you know, there might be
- 3:07some phonies in there, some phony teams. It's
- 3:09like, okay, how the fuck did you make it this
- 3:11far into the season to get to the seed? Yeah,
- 3:16but now. After game one, you thought, hey, this
- 3:19might be a pretty close series. It's a 3 -1 final.
- 3:22Then they go on to win game two 7 -1. And it's
- 3:25like, oh, okay. Okay, Oshawa, we see you guys.
- 3:28Like, okay, we see you. Game three coming home
- 3:30to Oshawa. They won 7 -6 in double overtime.
- 3:3490 total shots in that game between both teams.
- 3:37Oshawa outshot Barry 50 -40. That's insane. And
- 3:44then game four, Oshawa wins 8 -4 to close out
- 3:48the series. London, Kitchener kind of held in
- 3:53there. I mean, most of the games were pretty
- 3:54close. First two games in London, final scores
- 3:57of 5 -2 and 6 -2. And they really tried, really
- 4:01fought hard to hold them off there. And the home
- 4:03ice didn't want to get swept on home ice. Scores
- 4:05of just being 3 -2 and 4 -2. So all four games,
- 4:08Kitchener scored two goals. It'll be 3 -4 -5
- 4:13-6 for London's totals. Or 5 -6 -3 -4 if you
- 4:17want to go in order. But we have a rematch of
- 4:21last year's Stanley Cup. Jay Ross. Wrong lead
- 4:26there, buddy. I know we talk about anything hockey,
- 4:28but you've got to get your leads right, alright?
- 4:30Last year, hopefully, we don't see an exact repeat.
- 4:33Because last year, London swept against us. Swept
- 4:36four games to nothing. Again, none of those were
- 4:38close, being 8 -1, 9 -1. Okay, one of them was
- 4:42close. Also, it's 7 -6. It's a double overtime
- 4:46game. And then, finally, what? 8 -1? Yeah, I
- 4:50mean, it's... These London Knights, man. Someone
- 4:54needs to tell them to just chill. I'm sick of
- 4:58seeing them. I mean, they're a good fucking team.
- 5:00You can respect good hockey. That's the Dale
- 5:03Hunter way. That's the way this team and this
- 5:05organization is. They know. They know where to
- 5:08find talent. They know talent when they see it.
- 5:10They know how to develop. They never have an
- 5:14off year. Ever since the Hunters came in, in
- 5:19the early 2000s, I think they joined the 99 -2000
- 5:27season because the first year that the Otters
- 5:30were in the league, 96 -97, The London Knights
- 5:33had an abysmal three wins. That was their shit
- 5:36season. And that still holds the record for the
- 5:38worst. Worst season ever. And then they still
- 5:41were a basement team. They were still in the
- 5:43bottom of the league. Granted, the league was
- 5:4516 teams back in the day. Oh, no, four teams
- 5:49in 27 years, 26 years, something like that. That's
- 5:54something I'm trying to find out. I'll have to
- 5:55go back and maybe try to find this kitchen answer
- 5:56for you next episode. But the Peterborough Peets
- 5:59currently hold the record for the longest. consecutive
- 6:02playoff appearance streak in OHL history, making
- 6:05the playoffs for 27 consecutive seasons, from
- 6:09the 76 -77 season to the 0 -2 -0 -3 season. The
- 6:14Gulf Storm currently hold the longest active
- 6:17streak, extending to 18 seasons. Was that this
- 6:21year? Did they make it this year? I don't know.
- 6:23They got knocked out. So yeah, that must have
- 6:28ended this year. I could assume London might
- 6:33be up there for the longest active streak at
- 6:34this point. I don't think they've missed since
- 6:39the early 2000s. I know, it's been quite some
- 6:44time. But, yeah, obviously with the finals now
- 6:51getting ready to get underway, game one will
- 6:55be in London. on May 8th, and then Game 2 on
- 6:59May 10th in London. And then they'll head over
- 7:04to Oshawa in Games 3 and 4 on the 12th and 13th.
- 7:08And then if necessary, Game 5 will be back in
- 7:11London on the 15th, and Oshawa on the 17th. And
- 7:16then Game 7 is on the 19th, if they get to that
- 7:22point. I'm sorry, I don't think it's going to
- 7:26go... Maybe five or six, but... London's going
- 7:32to repeat, unfortunately. Yeah, I mean, as much
- 7:36as we probably don't want to see it, I mean,
- 7:40we don't say a lot of advice, so we've voiced
- 7:44how much we dislike London as a team, as individuals.
- 7:48But, I mean, respect for them versus good of
- 7:50a team. They're just good, like... I'll admit
- 7:54it, they're a really good team. Really good talent
- 7:59on that team. It was kind of funny, we kind of
- 8:05briefly talked about it on our little group chat
- 8:08we have. Because obviously throughout this year
- 8:13they've been doing the quarter century teams
- 8:17for each OHL team. Like, just the Midwest, just
- 8:22because he revealed the Midwest division, like,
- 8:24it's just so stacked. Like, there are so many
- 8:28games that are not even on the list. Like, it's
- 8:33insane, like, how stacked, like, the last 25
- 8:37years has been for the Midwest. Like, it's just
- 8:42been so stacked. Unbelievable. Because, obviously,
- 8:45for the Midwest division, it was... They have,
- 8:48on first team, it was Patrick Kane, Connor McDavid,
- 8:51Mitch Marner, Drew Dowdy, Evan Bouchard, and
- 8:55Jordan Finiton. And then team two was, second
- 8:57team was Jeff Carter, Wyatt Johnson, Michael
- 9:01Misa, Zane Perak, Mikhail Sergeyev, and Matt
- 9:05Murray. Like, there's honestly so many other
- 9:08names you could easily... Zane Perak's a fucking
- 9:11bitch. No, because I'm going to say stuff that
- 9:16I can't say on the air. Easy. Like, there. That's
- 9:19all I can say. As friggin' annoying as that is.
- 9:26Yeah, I'm doing research as we speak. Still going
- 9:29back. I'm all the way back to the 0203 season.
- 9:34And London's streak is still going on. So...
- 9:37Yeah, I'm trying to just figure that out as we...
- 9:44As we speak here. Obviously M2 was the honors.
- 9:50Did the Knights make it that year? They made
- 9:54it that year. Have we beat them in the second
- 9:55round? Shocker. We've seen that before. But yeah.
- 10:07It's going to be interesting how the finals are
- 10:11going to go. And obviously, when this episode
- 10:17goes out tomorrow, we'll kind of have an idea
- 10:20where Schaefer is going to more than likely land.
- 10:25Because obviously the lottery is up tomorrow.
- 10:31The NHL will be doing that tomorrow. Apparently,
- 10:35whatever stat I just saw before was wrong. The
- 10:42London Knights have not missed the playoffs since
- 10:44the 1999 -2000 season. When's the last time you
- 10:47missed the playoffs? That's 22 seasons. 25. We
- 10:54didn't have the 21 or 22 playoffs. Or 2020 or
- 10:592021. So 24. It said 22, so. 24. If you're including
- 11:05the 1999 -2000 season, that's 24 seasons because
- 11:08you take outs. the 2020, or, sorry, 23, because
- 11:13you take out the 1920 playoffs. So I probably
- 11:16just didn't update yet, so yeah, 23 consecutive
- 11:18seasons. Yeah, because you're, well, we say the
- 11:21Guelph Storm one was 27. Yeah, or, I don't know,
- 11:25because technically, technically they made the
- 11:29playoffs in the 1920 season. Technically, so
- 11:35we can say they didn't, although they didn't
- 11:37actually physically play, game, they still clinched
- 11:41a playoff spot. And then the 2020 -21 season
- 11:47was cancelled, so we didn't have playoffs that
- 11:49year as well. You know who the longest active
- 11:52streak in the NHL is? I don't know. I'm trying
- 11:58to go through the teams. No Winnipeg, no Dallas,
- 12:02no Florida, no Toronto, no Washington. No Carolina.
- 12:17Hold on. I've got to look at who actually made
- 12:20it. They are on the walls right now. Oh, they
- 12:22are on the walls. I want to say Carolina. Edmonton.
- 12:36Nope. Can't be Vegas. It is Toronto. Toronto?
- 12:44Oh. They've made it every year since 2017. And
- 12:47they have won one playoff series. Two. Two now.
- 12:50Two. The longest streak, least amount of playoff
- 12:56series wins in that time. Yep. Well, with the
- 13:00exception of... Actually, no. No other exception.
- 13:04Now. The All -Stars have only made it the last
- 13:07three years, and they have won four series. Florida's
- 13:13only made it in the last four, last five, and
- 13:18they've won eight series. Obviously, they've
- 13:20won the Cup. And, yeah, half of them were last
- 13:23year. But, yeah, it's crazy. Some of these streaks
- 13:29that we're seeing, man. London has a hole, man.
- 13:33I mean, chill out. I don't know. I mean, if the
- 13:39Russia would... Swept right by Barry. I mean,
- 13:43we might have a series here. I've seen a lot
- 13:46of... Again, I'm not going to act surprised if
- 13:48this does end in another London sweep. I'm not
- 13:51going to act surprised. I saw a lot of Osho General
- 13:56fans. They said that this was... They honestly
- 14:00believe this team was a lot better than what
- 14:05they were at last year. Even though they made
- 14:08the finals last year. They think they're overall
- 14:11better. They were a better team than what they
- 14:14were last season. Yeah, for sure. But, I mean,
- 14:20yeah, that's about all we have to discuss in
- 14:22the LHL right now. Obviously, there's not much
- 14:26going on in Otter's world, except they announced
- 14:30coaching changes. Wes Wolfe is going to be gone.
- 14:32And what, head athletic trainer? Yeah. Andrew
- 14:35Koop is going to be gone. Well, as the voice
- 14:39of the Otters, Sean Bednar is moving on, which
- 14:41I think we did discuss that already last episode.
- 14:43Trevor Cabana taking over for the voice of the
- 14:46Otters. It's going to be nice to see the nice
- 14:48young, what, 23, 24 -year -old Trevor. 24. He
- 14:52just graduated college. So nice and young. He's
- 14:58an Erie boy. Born and raised. Went to Gatlin.
- 15:01Yeah, went to Gatlin. He's a homegrown boy. I
- 15:09know he's mentioned on his podcast that he does.
- 15:12I wonder if he's going to have enough time to
- 15:14continue that going. Or if he's going to be able
- 15:16to find a new host for it. I wonder if they're
- 15:19going to try to find a new host for that or if
- 15:20he's going to try to keep it going. I guess we'll
- 15:23see. We'll find out here in the offseason. The
- 15:25ought season here. I just want to punch it right
- 15:30now. Yeah, so we weren't calling it that right
- 15:34now, which we're still going, but nobody's getting
- 15:38past London, man. It's one of those things, at
- 15:40this point in this league, if you want to make
- 15:42it to the final, you're going to have to play
- 15:45London at some point. Yep. Whether it's in the
- 15:47final or the conference final or somehow get
- 15:50it past in the first round, which I wish I could
- 15:52go back even further and see when the last time
- 15:54London lost the first round. Which I think it's,
- 15:58yeah, I think it was 2018. I think I saw that
- 16:02as I was going through. I think they got swept
- 16:03in 2018 in the first round to 0 -2. As I know,
- 16:07if that's the case, before that it was 2015 against
- 16:13Erie. And Erie swept them. We did that in 2015.
- 16:18It was 2014 or 2015 we swept them. Oh, wow. I
- 16:22know it was 2014 or 2015. I do remember that.
- 16:28It was not 14, because London lost in the second
- 16:32round to the number one seeded Guelph. Okay,
- 16:35it might have been 15 then. Yeah, well, we swept
- 16:39them in the second round. Yeah, we were the number
- 16:43two seed there in number three. We swept them.
- 16:47Let's see. Yeah, 2018, the number four seed,
- 16:52Owen Zantac, swept the fifth seed, London, in
- 16:55the first round in 2018. Also, that's the year
- 16:58that Hamilton went to go on to win their first
- 17:01of their two and four years or two and five years.
- 17:05That 2018 year, Hamilton only lost five games.
- 17:11They went 16 -5 in that year. The second year,
- 17:16they only lost three games. They were such a
- 17:19fucking good team. 2022, they only lost three
- 17:22games, all three of them being in the final where
- 17:24Windsor took them to seven. I mean, that's about
- 17:31all I got left to say for the year. London just
- 17:34needs to chill out, man. They've lost first round
- 17:392008 to Guelph 4 -1, but they didn't get swept.
- 17:44They have not, they haven't, or I guess it was
- 17:48in the 99 -2000 season, so I can't really say.
- 17:50I was going to say they have not, they have yet
- 17:53to miss the playoffs in this century, but if
- 17:55it was the 99 -2000 season, that wouldn't make
- 17:57sense. Imagine if you could say that. Oh, we
- 18:00haven't missed the playoffs this century. That'd
- 18:03be ridiculous. Yeah. Alright. Now that we've
- 18:09done this in a couple weeks, I think we are going
- 18:11to jump back into some hurdle or Pukdoku here.
- 18:17Let's start with some Pukdoku. Alright, going
- 18:19to run across for the columns. We have Arizona,
- 18:22Vancouver, and Ottawa. Whereas for the rows,
- 18:26we have Philadelphia, Winnipeg, and Edmonton.
- 18:31I'm wondering if this can be Winnipeg or Arizona,
- 18:35or if it has to be Arizona. I think it just has
- 18:37to be Arizona. Click on Arizona. It'll usually
- 18:38hover over it or click on it. It'll tell you.
- 18:42It's just Arizona. It has to be Arizona. Right,
- 18:47Arizona, Edmonton. Mike Smith. Yeah, so that's
- 18:51what I was just about to say. Shut up, Walmart.
- 18:59I don't want to read your ad. Arizona Philly
- 19:01Jeremy Roenick, correct? Arizona Philly? Yeah.
- 19:06How long has that Penguins banner been up there?
- 19:12I just noticed that. Oh, I've had that for a
- 19:16while. No, I got it for Christmas. Because...
- 19:19It's been up there since? No, not up there since.
- 19:22I think since I... The banners, I've been up
- 19:26there for a while. The clock I moved up. The
- 19:29three banners have been there for a while. I
- 19:31moved the clock up, the stick over, and the board,
- 19:36the pin board up. You're just now noticing it?
- 19:40Kyle, we've been in the studio for how many weeks
- 19:43now? Two, come on. Back on topic, all right?
- 19:49Come on. Philly. I want to say Trevor Linden,
- 19:56but I don't know if he played for Philly. I know
- 20:00he's spent a good amount of his career in Vancouver.
- 20:05Did he go somewhere else? Oh, Claude Giroux for
- 20:11Philly. Ottawa. Kind of a gimme, but... Well,
- 20:19I mean, we'll take it. Because this is usually
- 20:21the point where we start to tamper off. Edmonton,
- 20:28Ottawa. And we're tampering off. Man, it's like
- 20:40I know us at this point. Josh Norris, I think
- 20:44he's always been up there. Up in Ottawa. I don't
- 20:50think he's been sometime. Not neither. Winnipeg
- 20:52or Edmonton. Taylor Hall, I don't think he'd
- 20:59fit anywhere. I'm just thinking of players that
- 21:02have jumped. Traveled. Well -seasoned, per se.
- 21:10Wow, I can't... Prison Boy. I don't think he'd
- 21:19fit anywhere. Other than Arizona. Click on Winifred,
- 21:26does that say? Would the franchise count? No,
- 21:30just the Winnipeg. So, current Winnipeg and last
- 21:33season's Arizona. Or through last season's Arizona.
- 21:38If you just hover over the logo instead of clicking,
- 21:40does it tell you? No. It's one of the grid sites
- 21:44that tells you which ones count. Normally, it
- 21:49says it. If it's the playoff stats or the stats,
- 21:53it says... On that team versus career. I'm just
- 22:00wondering if thrashers would count for the Jets
- 22:03here. No, it would say that franchise versus,
- 22:08like I said, it's just saying it's the specific
- 22:10team. Damn, Ottawa -Winnipeg. I think that one
- 22:18should be a lot easier. Yager doesn't fit anywhere,
- 22:22I don't believe. No. Oh, Philly, but Philly's
- 22:25the only... He wouldn't fit in anywhere. Yeah,
- 22:32Kyle, he's a person. All the way over in the
- 22:34Czech Republic. Mike Hoffman, did he ever play
- 22:38for Edmonton? I know he played for Ottawa. I
- 22:45think he was on that absolutely stacked 17 team.
- 22:48Yeah, he was. Did he ever play for Edmonton?
- 22:53Ottawa, San Jose. I think he's still... I think
- 23:00he's still currently out of San Jose. Is he?
- 23:03Yeah. I know he's played for more than the three
- 23:05that we just named, but what are the other ones?
- 23:10I'm not saying the Rangers, because I think he
- 23:14might have been the one that was in that... the
- 23:18Mika Zibana chat trade. Because remember, Zibanejad
- 23:22started up in Ottawa, but then came down to the
- 23:24Bluecoats, and that's right. Okay. So... Well,
- 23:28I don't think Hoffman ever played for the Bluecoats,
- 23:30though. No, no, he didn't. They were both on
- 23:33that absolutely stacked 16 -17 center team, the
- 23:37one that made it to the conference finals. No,
- 23:39because we played Mika in the first round that
- 23:40year with the Bluecoats, so... Hoffman, yes.
- 23:45Oh, no. Mika was up in... It was in New York
- 23:50at the time. I thought he would be with Ottawa.
- 23:53No, that's a little too late. 15, 16 maybe, but
- 23:56definitely not 17. Did Hoffman play for Edmonton,
- 24:00not for Cremo? I want to say he did, but... Let's
- 24:09see, Jeff Skinner's only been... Buffalo, Carolina,
- 24:12Edmonton. Cory Perry has been... Anaheim. Anaheim,
- 24:20Toronto. Tampa. Tampa. Dallas. Dallas. Montreal.
- 24:25I'm in Montreal, sorry. Montreal. One of those
- 24:29fucking Canadian teams that we all fucking hate.
- 24:31Dallas, Montreal, Tampa, Chicago, Edmonton. Oh
- 24:35yeah, the Chicago motherfuckers. That's right.
- 24:38Yeah. He took motherfucker away to a whole new
- 24:43level, man. Dylan DeMello, I know he's younger
- 24:51on Winnipeg, but I think he's only been there.
- 24:55Or did he start in Ottawa, maybe? Brendan Dillon,
- 24:58really the only team on here is Winnipeg. Washington.
- 25:02Well, I'm saying on here. It would only be Winnipeg.
- 25:05Did he play for Vancouver? I know there's a third
- 25:08team. New Jersey. Jersey, Washington, and Winnipeg.
- 25:13Is that it? Okay. That little... We're binded.
- 25:19We want to just throw Hoffman on. Edmonton. Edmonton.
- 25:22I thought he did the right one point. Let's do
- 25:26the right one. No, he did not. Damn. All right.
- 25:30Wow, this one's tough, man. Winnipeg and Arizona.
- 25:38Not Evander Kane, right? No. Winnipeg, San Jose,
- 25:44Buffalo, and Montana. Trying to think of that
- 25:49time right around the time where maybe Winnipeg
- 25:53was new or when they just came back from Atlanta.
- 25:58Big Buff? Blake Wheeler? No. Big Buff? No. Ilya
- 26:05Brzgalov. I know he did fill you. I know he spent
- 26:11a little time in Arizona. You spent some time.
- 26:15I think he might have. That would be the best
- 26:20guess we've came up with so far. Well, as you
- 26:22played for either Winnipeg or Vancouver. Vancouver,
- 26:26I don't think so. Because if we did Winnipeg,
- 26:29we could do Winnipeg, Arizona. But if we did
- 26:32Vancouver, we could do Philadelphia, Vancouver.
- 26:36I think this one might be the hardest one to
- 26:38get. I think we eventually could get another
- 26:40one for Winnipeg, Vancouver. I think we want
- 26:43to get Dries Gahl. I'll use him for Winnipeg,
- 26:45Arizona. All right. Did he, though? Again, I
- 26:52know for sure he did Arizona. It's just I don't
- 26:56know Winnipeg. I'm trying to think of who would
- 26:58have been their goalie right when they first
- 27:01came over back to Winnipeg. Oh, remember the
- 27:04goalie that fainted on the ice in a game against
- 27:08Philadelphia? When he was playing for Philadelphia.
- 27:12Michael Neuwirth. Neuwirth. There's a second
- 27:15one. There's another one that happened. With
- 27:18that Atlanta -Winnipeg franchise. I can't think
- 27:25of it. But anyway, Neuwirth. Where else is he
- 27:28a player? I'm not 100 % sure either. I said Briscoe
- 27:33would be my best guess right now. For Arizona?
- 27:40Yeah. No? Damn. Damn it. Where all has Craig
- 27:52Anderson played? I know one of you are. Colorado,
- 27:55Ottawa, and Washington. Never played for Edmonton?
- 28:01No. Oh, I don't know if he technically played
- 28:04for Washington because it was the COVID year,
- 28:06the COVID bubble year with the realigned divisions.
- 28:09Oh, no. He was the number two because originally
- 28:13Lundquist was supposed to be in there, but with
- 28:15his heart problems, Lundquist could never suit
- 28:17up. So. Ended up retiring. Yeah, which is sad.
- 28:21He only played for the Bluecoats. Damn, this
- 28:26one's... Why is this one so tough? Hoffman, I
- 28:32don't think he'd play for Winnipeg, so I don't
- 28:33think we can use him there either. Just checking
- 28:39the score of the game. Your final series going
- 28:44on right now? The first series to start. And
- 28:47the last series to go, I have to keep playing.
- 28:51Three minutes left in the third. Drew's still
- 28:54up. 3 -1. I'm going to say it again. We have
- 28:59no other guesses. I'd say throw Trevor Linden
- 29:00up there for Vancouver Philly. I don't think
- 29:04he played there, but we are struggling hardcore
- 29:06today. We have that rust that we haven't done
- 29:09since a couple weeks. No? Damn. I'm out. I got
- 29:19nothing. Neither do I. Come on. Here we go. I
- 29:35have two stats. Luke Shen, were you just talking
- 29:39about him earlier? Mike Delzato, Don Brashear,
- 29:42Sam Gagne for Philly, Vancouver. Anybody? Andrew
- 29:50Lyon. Keith Kachuk. He came to my mind for a
- 29:54minute, but I was not thinking that he played
- 29:56for Winnipeg. I see. He came to my mind, too,
- 30:00but I couldn't figure out where he's... Tyler
- 30:02Myers. From Winnipeg, Vancouver. To Foley, Luke
- 30:05Shenigan, Nate Schmidt, Garnier. Fuck, why? Danny
- 30:13Hew... Hosa. So they were counting the Atlanta.
- 30:16The Atlanta. Franchise. Damn. Thanks for fucking
- 30:26telling us, friggin' Puckadoku. Damn. Let's embarrass
- 30:31ourselves with the grid or the pyramid thing.
- 30:34Oh, Connor Brown. Me too. Cam Talbot, Connor
- 30:38Brown, David Perron, Kyle Turris. We deserve
- 30:42that loss. Who else? Who's waiting to find out
- 30:48who they're playing? If I can find out a little
- 30:50bit, wait a little bit longer as Winnipeg comes
- 30:52back and ties. They're playing Dallas. Dallas.
- 30:54The winner plays Dallas. Dallas, you need to
- 30:57find out. Wait to find out who you're playing
- 30:59for just a tad bit longer. Winnipeg Jets with
- 31:01two goals in the last, what, minute and a half.
- 31:05No. To tie this game. Hold on. I'm looking that
- 31:11up now. I do have a timer set for beginning of
- 31:13Miltie, by the way. So. So if it does go off,
- 31:17that's why. All right. A minute 55 left in what
- 31:29is the second Winnipeg goal by Nemeskov. And
- 31:33then three seconds left. Fucking three seconds
- 31:37left. Perfetti with the second of the game from
- 31:41Connor and Ehlers. Unbelievable. Beautiful goal,
- 31:45too. Not even Winnipeg fans, man. We sat here.
- 31:51We're going crazy. We're like, holy shit. The
- 31:54kid's 23. He just turned 23 years old at the
- 31:57beginning of his calendar year. I know, man.
- 31:58I know. But he's still like his third or fourth
- 32:00season. I know he started when he was like 19,
- 32:0220. But that is without question no word from
- 32:08that. That is the biggest goal of this kid's
- 32:09career so far. That is... Unbelievable, man.
- 32:12I'm surprised we can't hear the Winnipeg fans
- 32:14from here. Okay. Hold on. Open the window. Actually,
- 32:18no, that's south. That is one of the most electrifying
- 32:21goals I have ever seen. I just tweeted that out,
- 32:23man. If you don't think that playoff hockey is
- 32:26the best, not only the best hockey, but the best
- 32:30moments in sports, you're fucking lying. There
- 32:36is nothing that can compare to playoff hockey.
- 32:38We just saw it right there. You're lying or you're
- 32:40fucking stupid. We just saw it right there. That's
- 32:44unbelievable. Back to games. Not hockey or intermission,
- 32:51but intermission games. Here we go. Anybody that
- 32:58has ever played for Boston. Let's try to think
- 33:01of the most random thing we can possibly think
- 33:03of here. Excuse me. Dan Heinen, Phil Kessel.
- 33:10Zdorov. Yeah, let's do Kessel, because he won't
- 33:12fit anywhere else. He might fit in one of the
- 33:15bottom three, but... Let's do Stanley Cup winner
- 33:21for Phil Kessel. I think he has had a 30 -goal
- 33:24season. I think he did once or twice for Toronto,
- 33:26then once or twice for us. So we'll save him.
- 33:29Let's do... Let's do Danton Heinen. Come on.
- 33:35Imagine we just did all Penguins here. And the
- 33:3830 -goal season for Boston. Pasta. Pasta, yeah.
- 33:43Yep. Pasta. Oh, yeah. And then feel the thrill,
- 33:49Kessel. Feel the thrill. Drafted first round.
- 33:59Bergeron, right? Bergeron was first overall,
- 34:01I think. No, Bergeron was like a third or fourth
- 34:04rounder, wasn't he? Six, because he was the same
- 34:06year as... Was he sixth round? He was 2003. Wow.
- 34:10He was late, but, man, what a... He doesn't necessarily
- 34:14have to have been drafted by Boston. Just somebody
- 34:16that was drafted in the first round. Drafted
- 34:19first round, cup winner, 30 -plus goal season,
- 34:23and has played for Boston at any point in the
- 34:27career. I'd say Taylor Hall, but he doesn't win
- 34:29a cup yet, I don't think. No. Nope. Ray Bork?
- 34:37Chara? When was he drafted? I don't know. And
- 34:43I don't think Chara's had a 30 -goal season.
- 34:46Oh, yeah, probably not true, yeah. And Ray Bork.
- 34:52When was he drafted? I can't remember. No idea.
- 35:05I'm trying to think of some players back on that
- 35:072011 team. Tyler Sagan? Was he your first round?
- 35:17I feel like he might have been. I feel like he
- 35:21might have also been. Wait, what's that top one?
- 35:23Dallas? Dallas is the top one. Okay, so Tyler
- 35:26Sagan might be the top. So let's save him for
- 35:29the top one. So then we can use one of our lifelines
- 35:32for these first two. So film playing 50 -50 or
- 35:36player card? Let's do... Let's make it tell us.
- 35:40Player card. We've never done that one. It wasn't
- 35:43going to show us stats. That's totally what I
- 35:48wanted to pick. It's a fucking ad, dude. It keeps
- 35:51popping up. I'll play for the Penguins for 11
- 35:55years. Oh, Yager. Wow. Duh. Duh. Canadian nationality.
- 36:10The rap. I was going to just do the rap. Was
- 36:13he a first round draft pick? Oh, fuck. Yeah.
- 36:16Oh. Well, we can do Get Lifeline. Get Lifeline
- 36:23and do 50 -50. Andrew Chuck or Brian Rolison?
- 36:28Did Andrew Chuck play for Boston? I don't know.
- 36:32I don't fucking remember. I don't know. I'm not
- 36:35even 100 % sure who Brian Rolison is. I don't
- 36:40even know any of them. We have some mics. We
- 36:49do. It was J. Andrews checking out Tyler Sagan,
- 36:54I believe. Yep. Hell yeah. Boom, alright, we
- 36:59redeemed ourselves from that horrendous grid.
- 37:06It's three choices for the top one. Or the third
- 37:08one. Yeah, Yager, Kessel, Sagan. Sagan would
- 37:11have fit there, obviously, as well. Ratt, yeah.
- 37:15Rick Nash would have been... Okay, that makes
- 37:19sense. And then... Yeah, for like any boss to
- 37:25fire. Let's try some Hurtle. Hurtle. Alright.
- 37:40I swear to God, if I would have fucking gone
- 37:42there, man, I would have lost my shit. That's
- 37:45the one I was immediately going to say. The hairdo.
- 37:48The hairdo and the ears that kind of stick out.
- 37:52I was going to say Cole Caulfield, but obviously
- 37:54if it's in the West, it can't be Cole Caulfield.
- 37:57Pacific Center that is over the age of 31. His
- 38:04number is over 12. And he's not American. So
- 38:11let's try to maybe get somebody that's in the
- 38:1530 -40 number range. Maybe somebody in the 20s.
- 38:24He's like 31 years old or older. Well, what nationality
- 38:31is Logan Couture? I think he's Canadian. I think
- 38:36he's Canadian. I know that's not his hairdo,
- 38:41but... Okay, he's Canadian. This player's Canadian.
- 38:44He's between the age of 31 to 34. 31 to 33. So
- 38:49we know he's early 30s. And his numbers are between
- 38:5212 and 36. Okay. Obviously doesn't pay for Vegas
- 38:59or San Jose. Honestly, don't think in a million
- 39:01years I could have told you Logan Couture were
- 39:03the number 39. I don't think I could have told
- 39:05you that in a million years. Well, that's the
- 39:07only thing that popped up. I was like, okay,
- 39:09his number's in the 30s. I did not know that.
- 39:11Yeah, his. I would have guessed him as like a
- 39:13single, like an eight. Maybe I did not know that
- 39:15he was 39. What's the silver again? So, okay.
- 39:21It gives us more direction. We know he's a center,
- 39:24right? Yeah. I was thinking maybe goalie. Dude,
- 39:29why does that finally kind of fucking look like
- 39:30Ferb? From like Phoenix and Ferb. The fucking
- 39:39draft neck, man. Obviously, it's not in one of
- 39:46the Kachuks. It's not. It's not like a Brandon
- 39:50Tanev. I'm just trying to picture some of the
- 39:57great photos that we've seen of draft necks.
- 40:03And I'm going to be wrong on the nationality.
- 40:12But. Oh, position. Oh, I guess I'm wrong on a
- 40:18lot more things than I thought. Do like a Connor
- 40:23Brown. I don't know. He's on him. Yeah. No, he's.
- 40:28Yes, sorry. I'm also thinking of Warren Fogle.
- 40:37I'm thinking of Warren Fogle. I was trying to
- 40:44get more of his number. His number is between
- 40:4813 to 25 range. 12 to 25 range. 37. So it could
- 41:04be Calgary, San Jose, Calgary, Anaheim, and Utah
- 41:14is also in the Pacific, right? I thought they
- 41:18were in the Central. Or Seattle. So Calgary,
- 41:25Anaheim, Seattle. I'll be honest with you, I
- 41:27can't tell you any centermen out of... Out of
- 41:30Ute's thought. What's he trading at the deadline?
- 41:33Bjork Strand. Well, remember, I don't think this
- 41:37website's updated. As updated as... Maybe like
- 41:40an Oliver Bjork Strand? I know his number's like
- 41:4320, I think. I know, I'm pretty sure he's a center.
- 41:47And the age might be a little high? But... Oh,
- 41:52he's off Tampa now. Okay, so it is updated. Okay.
- 41:56Let's see, we just wasted a guess. Oh, and he's...
- 41:59Danish too, yeah. Dumbass. Or Denmark. The only...
- 42:02Only... Actually, I don't even know any centermen
- 42:06out of fucking Seattle. I don't even know who
- 42:09their centers are. Yeah, because Gord is back
- 42:11with Tampa. Yeah. I think they're part of that
- 42:14same trade. The Yorkshire and Gord. Who did...
- 42:19Who did Tampa send to Seattle on that trade?
- 42:22I don't fucking remember. Again, I don't even
- 42:24know... I don't even remember anybody in Seattle.
- 42:28Outside the defense. Yeah, it wasn't Kakko. I'm
- 42:33trying to remember, who did Tampa send to Seattle
- 42:34in that trade? Was it Sergachev? No, because
- 42:38Sergachev came over in the offseason. Oh, that's
- 42:40right. Yeah, because he played almost all 82
- 42:44with Seattle. Sergachev went to Utah, didn't
- 42:46he? That's why I was... Oh, Utah. Oh, yeah. And
- 42:50the number wouldn't line up. And age. Age is
- 42:5632. Try to guess somebody on Calgary, maybe?
- 43:00No, not Sean Monahan. He's on Columbus. What
- 43:05about Elias Lindholm? He's on Carolina now, I
- 43:09think. Oh, maybe Nazem Khadri? What's his number
- 43:16over there? 43. So, too high. Too high. And that
- 43:21would give us the team. We want to get somebody
- 43:27on, like, Anaheim. I think Zegras, just you.
- 43:43Yeah, just try to get the team. It's not Anaheim.
- 43:48So it's Seattle or Calgary. 32 -year -old Canadian
- 43:54centerman. In the Pacific. But almost everything
- 44:00else lines up for Qadri, but not the number.
- 44:08I think Qadri might be a little bit older than
- 44:11that by now. I think he might be more like 34,
- 44:1335. Fuck. I'm almost thinking of Seattle now,
- 44:35but who? I got nothing. Yeah, I got nothing.
- 44:57It's my best guess, but the age doesn't line
- 45:00up. Or the number. Jaden Schwartz at West Seattle.
- 45:07That makes sense. Jaden Schwartz, wow. Damn.
- 45:16It looks like we probably won't know the winner
- 45:19of this series with tonight's episode because
- 45:22we are going to double overtime now. Some beautiful
- 45:25saves from both sides. Great plays. St. Louis
- 45:29had almost a heartbreaker with a very stupid
- 45:32delay game penalty. were able to kill it off
- 45:35early on in overtime. Look at that one, man.
- 45:37My God. Jordan Bennington, dude. Different Jordan
- 45:44Bennington this year, man. Oh, no. It's an end
- 45:48date between pre and post Four Nations. That
- 45:52was really the confidence booster that Jordan
- 45:55Bennington needed was Four Nations. He's been
- 46:00unstoppable. Or no, he... Was stoppable, because
- 46:05goalies stop. Yeah. Ah, get with it, freshman.
- 46:11But, yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, like I said, this
- 46:15is the only series that is still going on that
- 46:17we have yet to find out the winner to. Everything
- 46:22else, so we know. We'll start, we'll go over
- 46:25in the east. Toronto taking down Ottawa in six
- 46:29games. Four games to two, obviously. And Florida
- 46:32do it in five games over Tampa. And then Washington
- 46:36did it, beat Montreal in five. While Carolina
- 46:41beat New Jersey in five. So, looking forward
- 46:46to, let's go back to the first series, the series
- 46:50from the Atlantic. The Toronto -Florida series.
- 46:54That was a great, hard -fought series by Ottawa.
- 46:58Going down 3 -0. I won game four, winning one,
- 47:04going back to Toronto for game five, taking one
- 47:06away again. I think that was an overtime, wasn't
- 47:08it? Games two, three, and four were an OT. Five
- 47:12was in regulation. Okay. Yeah, one, five, six
- 47:15were regulation, so. I want to say it's on me
- 47:20because I know Jeffrey had said it, and I saw
- 47:22it earlier in the day with Moe and Barney. Moe
- 47:26thrown Barney out, and then. He knocked it out,
- 47:29Brady. Okay, great. You got one good Chuck brother
- 47:33out. You still have one more. Just remember.
- 47:36I thought it was funny. Steve Dangle's video
- 47:39after game five, man. I thought he was about
- 47:41to lose it, dude. Just remember. After game four,
- 47:45he's like, okay, we lost one. It's fine. Whatever.
- 47:46And then he lost game five. I thought he was
- 47:49about to lose it. Game five in Toronto. In Toronto.
- 47:54But just remember. We want Florida. What happened
- 47:59the last time? They won Florida. Those cocky
- 48:03bastards. There's nobody in this world that wants
- 48:06Toronto to lose more than Colin right now. Again,
- 48:08I just want them to shut the fuck up for crying
- 48:13out loud. Real quick, look at the time on ice
- 48:17leaders for Game 7. Neil Pionk has played 39
- 48:19and a half minutes so far. Almost 40 minutes.
- 48:22Almost 40 minutes out of 80. Like, that is insane.
- 48:24He's played almost 50 % of this game. That's
- 48:28insane. Yeah, that was a fun series. Ottawa made
- 48:33it a series. They made it very interesting. They
- 48:37had a Toronto kind of, not made it very easy,
- 48:39but 4 -2 win to win the series 4 -2 in game 5,
- 48:43or game 6, sorry. The Tampa Bay -Florida series.
- 48:49This one I ended up being completely wrong on.
- 48:51I think I said Tampa in 6 on this one, in my
- 48:53bracket. Ended up being Florida in 5. Florida
- 48:57was just clearly the better team in the series.
- 49:00Tampa got a lucky win on game three in Florida,
- 49:035 -1. But other than that, Florida just took
- 49:06care of business, beat the piss out of them,
- 49:09and showed why they're reigning cup champs. Yeah.
- 49:14I'm going to stick to my guns. I know I told
- 49:16you guys earlier. I'm going to say Florida in
- 49:19six for round two. I mean, just overall, they're
- 49:23a much better team. They have more consistent
- 49:25goaltending with Sergei Prokhorovsky. Their defense
- 49:28outside the top, they have more than the top
- 49:31pair. Once they get Aaron Eckblad off of suspension
- 49:33there, because I think he'll be out for game
- 49:36one. I mean, you can't take anything away from
- 49:40Anthony Starrs. The second half of the season,
- 49:41Anthony Starrs has been light out. And I know
- 49:45both Stolars and Joseph Wohl have been spending
- 49:49time in the regular season. Obviously Stolars
- 49:51thankfully got hot at the right time for Toronto,
- 49:53which that was a big thing in that Ottawa series,
- 49:56was Stolars. But instead of having a top six
- 50:01that's going to pound you, again, Florida's just
- 50:04a more balanced team. They'll come in waves,
- 50:07just the greatness they have. That fucking second
- 50:10line. If they, like, if they put that second
- 50:12line together of Chucky, Marshy, and Benny. Dude,
- 50:17you, good fucking luck. That's a scary line.
- 50:19Good. It's scary for anybody, okay? And for somebody
- 50:23who doesn't have really, like, defensive depth
- 50:25like Toronto, may God have mercy, may God have
- 50:30mercy on your souls. On top of just, like, because
- 50:33you know that line would just get underneath
- 50:35the skin of Toronto, like, just easily. And they're
- 50:39not afraid to fight. No. I mean, Toronto has
- 50:43their fair share of not being a fan of Marchand
- 50:45in general already, with him being in Boston.
- 50:47I mean, Boston fans definitely don't hate Toronto
- 50:50as much as Toronto fans hate Boston. But it's
- 50:54still, you know that Marchand probably is not
- 50:56a fan of Toronto. He's going to let them have
- 50:59it. That might be the most fun series here in
- 51:02Toronto to watch. Oh, yeah. I cannot wait to
- 51:06see that series. I think both series in the East
- 51:09are going to be pretty fun to watch. Washington
- 51:12and Carolina, I think, is going to be another
- 51:14division rival. But that's going to be the top
- 51:19two teams in the Metro and the top two teams
- 51:21in the Atlantic going at it. Yeah, game one is...
- 51:29Well, tomorrow for us, but today we're recording.
- 51:33Monday, May 5th, starting at 8 p .m. Eastern
- 51:36Standard Time in Toronto. Toronto gets home ice
- 51:41advantage for the first two rounds. That's probably
- 51:43been a loss since we've seen that. Well, yeah,
- 51:46because... Because they usually don't make it
- 51:47past the first round. Yeah, going on the Washington
- 51:51series, they beat Montreal pretty easily, four
- 51:53games to one. Had a little bit of a very shaky,
- 51:55rough game three in Montreal. The 6 -3 Montreal
- 51:58win. But again, aside from that... Those fights,
- 52:02the memes that have come out of that game, the
- 52:04Tom Wilson crisis. As much as I hate Tom Wilson,
- 52:07that was hilarious. Hysterical, dude. One of
- 52:09the funniest things to come out of this season,
- 52:11easily. Yeah, other than that, Montreal didn't
- 52:14score more than two goals in the other game in
- 52:16that series. Yeah, it's so much better than Tom
- 52:18Wilson standing with just his gear on. Like,
- 52:20no sweater, just the gear. Looking like a fucking
- 52:22idiot. Ended up having one box. He's sitting
- 52:25there... Mocking them whining and fighting. It's
- 52:29great. And then Carolina obviously winning 4
- 52:33-1 over Jersey. What is it? Game 3, the only
- 52:38one that Jersey won, came out of double overtime.
- 52:42Actually, no, there are two games. Game 3. The
- 52:47home team winning both of them. Yeah, that game
- 52:515 goal. I don't know if you guys were watching
- 52:53it. I didn't watch it live, but I saw it. Just
- 52:57as electric as this Cole Profetti tying game
- 52:59with two seconds left here in the Winnipeg game.
- 53:03Moving over to the West. Obviously, we don't
- 53:05know the winner yet of Winnipeg -St. Louis. The
- 53:08Washington -Carolina series starts on Tuesday,
- 53:11May 6th at 7 Eastern and D .C. in the American
- 53:14capital. This one, I'm going to stick to my bracket.
- 53:19I'm going to say Carolina takes this one. Probably,
- 53:22and it's going no shorter than six games, I don't
- 53:25think. I think this one's going to be hard fought.
- 53:27I have to say seven, but I'm saying Washington.
- 53:32Washington takes in seven? Because I still don't
- 53:35know. We still don't know what's... Freddie Anderson
- 53:39is. If he's healthy, if he's not. Because obviously,
- 53:42Kachekov, or whatever his ass name is, he's a
- 53:45good goaltender. He's the one who obviously started...
- 53:48He's young, but he doesn't have a whole lot of
- 53:49playoff experience as of yet. Yeah, he started
- 53:51Game 5 against Jersey and obviously he won, but
- 53:54you're going to have a lot tougher time stopping
- 53:57Washington. Yeah. Like, they're not afraid to
- 54:00throw shit at them. And they're not afraid to
- 54:02drive either, so... Obviously, he had the greatest
- 54:05goal scorer of all time. on that team, too, man.
- 54:08Yeah, we, uh, that's obviously one big threat,
- 54:11but, you know, overall, like, it just, it all
- 54:16depends on what Freddie Anderson makes, if he
- 54:18plays or not. So, I'm sorry. That's just, that's
- 54:22really Carolina's biggest hope in competing in
- 54:24this series. I think it, the most will go six,
- 54:29but it can end in five, and then, but, I think
- 54:32I'm going to say Washington in six. Washington
- 54:35in six? Okay. Yeah, I'm still going to stick
- 54:37to my bracket, my gut, and say Carolina's winning
- 54:40this one. I don't think I said my winner for
- 54:42the other one. Toronto, Florida. Again, I almost
- 54:46want to stick to my bracket again because I had
- 54:48Toronto going all the way to the conference final
- 54:50in my bracket. Panthers in six. I mean, but seeing
- 54:54how, I mean, Toronto, honestly, they struggled
- 54:56against Ottawa. They just, you know, they kind
- 54:58of, I think they took the foot off the gas a
- 55:00little bit in games four and five and then really
- 55:02said, oh, fuck, we need to get going and kind
- 55:04of beat them up there in game six. But Florida
- 55:07just beat the absolute shit out of Tampa Bay.
- 55:11Essentially pretty much for all five games, Tampa
- 55:13Bay got a lucky one there in game three. I think
- 55:22I am going to change, though. This one I'm going
- 55:26to change. I'm going to say Florida. But I do
- 55:29think this one is going to go to seven. I think
- 55:30Toronto is going to be heartbroken yet again
- 55:33in a game seven. for the eighth time in the last
- 55:36nine years. In game seven in Toronto. It is going
- 55:41to be in Toronto, isn't it? The other series,
- 55:44one that wrapped up last night, an absolutely
- 55:46crazy, again, an absolutely crazy game seven
- 55:49as well in that one. Dallas taking down Colorado
- 55:53in seven games. Mikko Rantanen just... He goes
- 55:56off against his former team. I don't know what
- 55:58happened, man, but he found his rhythm and he
- 56:01just kept punching and he kept going, man. Oh,
- 56:04so you didn't want to resign me, right? Well,
- 56:06here you go. Here you go. Here you go. Literally
- 56:09back and forth pretty much the whole series.
- 56:12Colorado took a 1 -0 lead. Dallas tied it. Dallas
- 56:15went up 2 -1. Colorado tied it. Dallas goes up
- 56:173 -2. Obviously, Colorado ties it. But then Dallas
- 56:21takes it. Game 7, 4 -2. Did Mike and me get a
- 56:24hat -trick on that one, or did he just get 2?
- 56:26No, Mike and me got 3. Did he get the hat -trick?
- 56:28Yeah, he got goals 1, 2, and 4. Dallas. Obviously,
- 56:34goal one was power play, two was even strength,
- 56:38and three was empty middle. Yeah, three different
- 56:40ways. And unfortunately, we did see the flower,
- 56:46Marc -Andre Fleury, play his last National Hockey
- 56:50League game ever. We're not talking just regular
- 56:52season. Ever, he played his last game. I think
- 56:57he did play it in Minnesota, though. A 3 -2 loss.
- 57:02Two months in the Vegas Golden Knights. His former
- 57:04team. He did end up playing in relief to Gustafson
- 57:09twice in the series. I think it was five and
- 57:12six, wasn't it? I said four. Four and three.
- 57:15I know in five he came in in the third. Four
- 57:17and five. Four and five. I know he came in for
- 57:19one of the overtime games. I can't remember which
- 57:21one. Four. For game four? Yeah. I mean, Minnesota
- 57:26put up a fight, man. I mean, they went up two
- 57:28to one. And then they lost back -to -back games
- 57:31in overtime, and that's just, you can't get over
- 57:34losing back -to -back games in overtime, especially
- 57:36in the playoffs. That's very difficult to come
- 57:38back from. And obviously they couldn't losing
- 57:40game six at home, three to two. Vegas moving
- 57:45on to the semifinals. The other team moving on
- 57:48to the semifinals is the Edmonton Oilers taking
- 57:51down the LA Kings in six games. I'm so fucking
- 57:54tired of seeing this. Edmonton L .A. matchup
- 57:57in the first round. Can we please go back to
- 57:591v8? Four years in a row. Fucking go back to
- 58:031v8. Please. That's why, honestly, I love with
- 58:07the OHL why they do 1v3 because we see... We
- 58:12actually see different matchups year by year.
- 58:15I mean, NHL is also very rare that we see VHC
- 58:21do just about anything now. Still, but it's something.
- 58:26You still see different matchups, you know? Again,
- 58:29four fucking years in a row. I get back -to -back
- 58:31years, whatever. It happens. But four years in
- 58:34a row. Go back to 1v8. Fucking step it up, Gary
- 58:39Bentley, you dumb bitch. Alright? Go back to
- 58:421v8. Make it a lot more enjoyable for hockey
- 58:45fans. And we'll be happy with it. So, I don't
- 58:50know. Yeah, Edmonton taking it in six games,
- 58:54winning game six. At home, in front of the Rogers
- 58:57Center crowd. The home team pretty much ruled
- 59:04this series, except for Game 5 where Edmonton
- 59:06took one in L .A., 3 -1. Other than that, the
- 59:10home team ruled the series. L .A. jumped out
- 59:12to an early 2 -0 lead. And then Edmonton, it
- 59:15was all Edmonton from there. Just beating the
- 59:17crap out of them pretty much. I mean, Game 4
- 59:19was close, an overtime win. But other than that,
- 59:22it was all Edmonton after that. With that series
- 59:25now being Vegas versus Edmonton. Who do we got
- 59:31winning this one? Vegas in six. Oh, excuse me.
- 59:35Edmonton does not have the goaltending. Oh, great.
- 59:37Picard's doing good. And the defense is just
- 59:40meh. What defense? Who is besides Skinner? Because
- 59:43Skinner went down, didn't he? Well, Skinner's
- 59:45number two. Skinner's two right now. Picard's
- 59:49the number one. Really? Because Ginnar was playing
- 59:52like shit in L .A. the games 1 and 2, so Picard
- 59:55came in. Picard played the last four? Yeah. I
- 59:57didn't know that. Picard played the last four,
- 1:00:00and obviously he did well enough to help the
- 1:00:02system. And then defense, I mean, great. You
- 1:00:04continue, you know, nursing Bouchard as your
- 1:00:081A and 1B. Who's in the morning base right now?
- 1:00:10Is it Aiden Hill? Aiden Hill. Aiden Hill, yeah.
- 1:00:13And then is it Logan Thompson? No, he's in Washington.
- 1:00:16He's in Washington, yeah. So who's being based
- 1:00:20as number two? Oh, gosh. If Aiden Hill goes down,
- 1:00:23are they screwed, or do they still have somebody
- 1:00:26back there that's been decent? Oh, I thought
- 1:00:28I knew who it was. Once I hear it, I'll know,
- 1:00:31but... Ilya Samsonov. Samsonov, yeah, okay. That's
- 1:00:37funny. It's former Caps goaltender, isn't it?
- 1:00:40Yeah. And I think he played a little bit of Toronto,
- 1:00:42too, yeah. But... Vegas and Six, they have better
- 1:00:48defense. Outside of that top six, Edmonton doesn't
- 1:00:53really have many. No. And I'm sorry, Leonor McDrysaddle,
- 1:01:00or whatever you want to call them, isn't going
- 1:01:02to be able to carry you. That's literally the
- 1:01:04only two players that have really been doing
- 1:01:06much. In that series, I mean, obviously, it's
- 1:01:09welcome to Edmonton. Yeah, even though I have
- 1:01:13Edmonton moving on in my bracket, but I think
- 1:01:16it's going to be Vegas in six as well. I could
- 1:01:20honestly see it being as early as, like, five.
- 1:01:23I mean, Vegas is just clearly the better team,
- 1:01:26and they have the better, like you said, they
- 1:01:27have kind of the better goaltending. Again, it's
- 1:01:30the same kind of situation as the Toronto, I'm
- 1:01:33sorry, Toronto -Florida series. Vegas is more
- 1:01:37well -balanced. I think Vegas has a much better
- 1:01:39and stronger defense. I mean, Edmonton has what
- 1:01:42they've done on theirs. They've got Bouchard.
- 1:01:45Again, that's your... They consider them the
- 1:01:491A and 1B defensemen. You know, great, they're
- 1:01:54your top two defensemen, but on any other club,
- 1:01:57they're probably a third -parent defenseman at
- 1:02:00best. They have Cody Ceci back there, like bottom
- 1:02:04two defensemen, I think. So they don't have him.
- 1:02:07Jake Wallman, John Klingberg, I forgot they got
- 1:02:09him. All right, Klingberg could be, again, bottom
- 1:02:12pairing. He's second with Wallman, and then they
- 1:02:15have Brett Kulak and Ty Emberson. Who? Exactly.
- 1:02:19I know Kulak, but I'm not too familiar with Emberson.
- 1:02:22I think he might be one of the rookies. I know
- 1:02:24he's pretty young. But, yeah, I mean, other than
- 1:02:26that, I mean. Defense is non -existent. Again,
- 1:02:31top pairing defense. Is Wadham Perrin a defenseman
- 1:02:36anywhere else? At best. You're number five, the
- 1:02:39highest. Other last pieces of news that we had
- 1:02:43this week, obviously, knowing Pittsburgh Penguins
- 1:02:45firing, or they called it parting ways, with
- 1:02:49head coach Mike Sullivan. They fired his ass.
- 1:02:51They're just trying to protect his butt. Yeah,
- 1:02:53I think they did. The fact that Dubas even said
- 1:02:58that he called Sidney Crosby in the morning over
- 1:03:00the night before to tell him. Like, hey, this
- 1:03:02is what's going on. And they had a 30 -minute
- 1:03:04conversation. There's no way that they came to
- 1:03:07the discussion in the meeting. He might have
- 1:03:11either went into that meeting knowing he was
- 1:03:12about to get fired, or Kyle Dubas was going into
- 1:03:15that meeting knowing he was going to fire him.
- 1:03:17I don't think they went into that meeting saying,
- 1:03:20hey, we might be able to come to an agreement
- 1:03:22here. I think both sides had to have known, hey.
- 1:03:25Or even Mike Sullivan might have went in knowing,
- 1:03:27or maybe he told Dubas ahead of time, hey, I
- 1:03:30don't think this is working out for me anymore,
- 1:03:32you know. I mean, we honestly don't know what
- 1:03:35goes on behind closed doors, what happened in
- 1:03:38that meeting. I don't know, because here's the
- 1:03:40other thing, because originally his contracts
- 1:03:42ran through the 26 -27 season. So we would have
- 1:03:46had another two seasons of Mike Sullivan assuming
- 1:03:49that, you know, this didn't happen. Was Tonkett
- 1:03:54this week or was that before? Was that last week?
- 1:03:57I thought it was this week as well. Was that
- 1:03:59this week as well? Rick Tonkett? It's been rumored
- 1:04:03he might end up being interested in the job for
- 1:04:05Pittsburgh. No, goddammit. Bring back Phil Kessel.
- 1:04:09Bring back Kessel! I think it'd be hilarious.
- 1:04:12You said you saw a post about it. What were some
- 1:04:14of the other options on that post? Oh god, that's
- 1:04:16a while ago. Oh, fuck. Rick Tonkett. Balsma.
- 1:04:24I wouldn't want to bring back Balsma. The other
- 1:04:28one I don't want to bring is Torts. That's another
- 1:04:32one I do. The only one I do not want is John.
- 1:04:34I don't want John Torts. I don't want him either.
- 1:04:36I don't think Crosby would want him either. Oh,
- 1:04:41God. Where is this? We're currently five minutes
- 1:04:45into second overtime. Still no winner yet. Yeah.
- 1:04:51I don't know who I'd want for the head coach.
- 1:04:53I mean, maybe I know the head coach down in Wilkes
- 1:04:57-Barre right now had a great season, even though
- 1:04:58they lost in the first round as well. But at
- 1:05:00least they're having better success than us.
- 1:05:02Making the playoffs, yeah. I mean, he'd be very
- 1:05:05good with, you know, keeping ties with, you know,
- 1:05:08Billy Coivinan and Rutger McGrody and those guys
- 1:05:11that, you know, came up towards the end of the
- 1:05:13season. Yeah, man, I don't know. I can definitely
- 1:05:18see torts. I think it also depends on, like,
- 1:05:21what other coaches might become available. A
- 1:05:26couple other things. I'm sorry for interrupting,
- 1:05:28but I finally found it. Posted by, well, I'm
- 1:05:34not going to say her name, but some names are
- 1:05:36out here. Joel Greenville, John Tortorella, Talkin,
- 1:05:40Gerard Delant. I have some former players come
- 1:05:44back, like Cooney and Coffey. Mike Yeo, assistant
- 1:05:54coach David Quinn, John Cooper, who's shown a
- 1:05:58little bit of interest. I wouldn't mind. I would
- 1:06:01like John Cooper. I would not mind that. Bruce
- 1:06:05Rudrow. I don't know if I could see Tampa getting
- 1:06:09Brent Cooper, though. Yeah, I know that's a long
- 1:06:12shot. Bottom two cups, Ben to three. I mean,
- 1:06:16the last two years, I think they've been first
- 1:06:18round exit the last two years. I think they've
- 1:06:21been first round exit every year since that loss
- 1:06:23to Dallas, that loss to Colorado. Another one
- 1:06:29that I kind of chuckle at because I'm a big fan
- 1:06:31of the show. Yeah, Shorzy. Set the fucking tone!
- 1:06:37That'd be great. That'd be so funny. Now, Phil
- 1:06:39Kessel... We were talking about this in the group
- 1:06:41chat the other day. I can't imagine taking his
- 1:06:44voice. God damn it, Stan. You got to shoot the
- 1:06:47puck. That's the end of the coke. I cannot imagine
- 1:06:52trying to take Phil Kessel seriously as a coach.
- 1:06:55I fucking hate that impression, man. God damn
- 1:07:00it. I couldn't imagine. I can't see a world where
- 1:07:06you can take Phil Kessel seriously. I wouldn't
- 1:07:08take it seriously. Well, I'm sorry. I wouldn't
- 1:07:12take it seriously at all. I think it's a pretty
- 1:07:16good impression. I just go by what everybody
- 1:07:19else literally does the same exact impression
- 1:07:21of him. It's so funny. Even that one clip that
- 1:07:25we found of... Kessel, when he, like, yeah, I
- 1:07:28think he shot the puck out of his arm. He goes,
- 1:07:29God damn it. And I think he said, it sounds like
- 1:07:31Phil Kessel doing an impression of Phil Kessel.
- 1:07:35And they're in the changing room. Jack Eichel.
- 1:07:37Wide heads, right? And Phil, in, like, two seconds,
- 1:07:41he's got a big cut right here. This is 2BC Reacts,
- 1:07:48Jack Eichel. They're interviewing Jack Eichel,
- 1:07:50obviously former teammate. And he's like. I've
- 1:08:11been watching him for a long time. I've been
- 1:08:13watching his YouTube videos for years, man. Johnny
- 1:08:17Suburban? Yeah, I've been watching him for quite
- 1:08:20some time. Just anybody who pokes fun at Hellcastle
- 1:08:24on a sports fan. Dude, I can't fathom. I can't
- 1:08:28see a world where we're just trying to take him
- 1:08:30seriously as a coach. Imagine being on the other
- 1:08:33end of the ice and he's just here on the other
- 1:08:35end. God damn it! I can't see a world where...
- 1:08:42I'll lose my fucking shit. Way to go, boys. Way
- 1:08:45to go. Atta boy, Sid. Good shot. Oh my god. Can
- 1:08:53you imagine Phil Kissel sitting there calling
- 1:08:54somebody else lazy too? Like, I can get there
- 1:08:56faster than that! Yeah. Phil Kissel. Can't see
- 1:09:04it happening. I can't take it seriously, man.
- 1:09:07I think that's where we're going to end this
- 1:09:09episode, though. Are you fucking kidding me?
- 1:09:13Keep it going, boys. God damn it. Way to go,
- 1:09:15boys. Way to go. Great episode, guys. Anyways.
- 1:09:19I'm happy. Where's my couch? Yeah, again, we
- 1:09:29do, looks like we are ending this episode without
- 1:09:31knowing the winner yet of this game seven. Ten
- 1:09:34minutes into double overtime here and we still
- 1:09:36don't have a winner, so this one, hopefully this
- 1:09:38one doesn't end up being another five overtime
- 1:09:40Columbus -Tampa situation here. I mean, imagine
- 1:09:45these players playing until like probably two,
- 1:09:47three o 'clock in the morning if that's the case.
- 1:09:48My God. I don't think I can stay out to watch
- 1:09:52that game. I will not. I'll probably listen to
- 1:09:56the rest of it on my drive home here and then
- 1:09:57probably pass out as soon as I get home. Probably
- 1:10:00be the start of the third overtime. That about
- 1:10:02does it for this week's episode. Not sure if
- 1:10:04we'll be back for our third straight week next
- 1:10:06week. I know we've been in discussion for if
- 1:10:09we're going to stay weekly here to keep updated
- 1:10:11with these playoffs. Again, it all depends. I
- 1:10:13doubt we're going to have four sweeps that we
- 1:10:16can come back and talk about next week. Yeah,
- 1:10:19we'll see. Thank you guys for listening. I'm
- 1:10:22not going to go through the whole spiel. We're
- 1:10:23almost 200 episodes into this shit now. If you
- 1:10:26haven't done it yet, we're close. We're probably
- 1:10:28a little bit past 150, I think. I know we hit
- 1:10:31100 in Season 3, I think. We're getting there
- 1:10:36past 150. I'll do the math later. We're a while.
- 1:10:40If you haven't done any of that stuff yet, obviously
- 1:10:43you know we're on everything now. Spotify. Apple
- 1:10:47Podcasts, Amazon Music, YouTube. So if you have
- 1:10:50more than or don't have Spotify, you can listen
- 1:10:52to us elsewhere. Thanks for listening, guys,
- 1:10:54and we'll see you next time. See ya!
