- 1:56Speaker 1: all the way up from Soft Georgia or starting in
- 1:59Speaker 1: the new TV show on National Geo entitled Creative Fixers.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Country Veterinarians, the show follows the lifelong friends, their lifelong
- 2:08Speaker 1: friends who happened to be veterinarians and who happened to
- 2:11Speaker 1: be African American veterinarians who operate Creative Fixer Veterinarian Hospital,
- 2:16Speaker 1: located one hundred miles south of the nine. I told
- 2:18Speaker 1: you they're coming up. They're moving on up for this interview.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Please welcome to money making Conversations, my friends. I'm calling
- 2:24Speaker 1: my friends doctors Hodges and Dr Ferguson. Hey have to
- 2:29Speaker 1: be here. Well, okay, now you know we all know.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Let's the first of all to my understand is you
- 2:36Speaker 1: have to go to medical school to be a vet.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Is that correct? So so it's really harder to be
- 2:44Speaker 1: a veterinarian than just to be a general doctor. Huh.
- 2:49Speaker 1: There the only third ones in their schools in the
- 2:52Speaker 1: United States, So you know here in the state of Georgia,
- 2:55Speaker 1: there's only one and they're about a hundred slots. So
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know, I mean, you think about it if in
- 3:01Speaker 1: the whole state of Georgia, Um, you you you you're
- 3:05Speaker 1: competing with with the whole state just to get those
- 3:07Speaker 1: hundred Scotts. But but Dr person and of attended the
- 3:11Speaker 1: only HBCU in school with the Tuskeg University. Now here's
- 3:17Speaker 1: the thing about it. H TuS Key University is in Alabama.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's a HBCU school Historical Black College and University. That's
- 3:25Speaker 1: what HBCU stands for UM and I am on a
- 3:30Speaker 1: mission a part of this just campaign just to bring
- 3:33Speaker 1: more attention to hbc used to let people understand that
- 3:37Speaker 1: the value of of quality education to being provided by HBCUs.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Tell us your take on your HBCU experience started with
- 3:46Speaker 1: you first Dr Ferguson and then Dr Hodges. Yes, we
- 3:51Speaker 1: were definitely value HBCU because we went to two HBCUs.
- 3:56Speaker 1: We attended Fort Valley State University undergrad and we're tended
- 4:00Speaker 1: uh Tuskee Universe School of in their medicine for our
- 4:03Speaker 1: d d M. Sometimes you need that that HBCU. Sometimes
- 4:08Speaker 1: you need that little extra nurturing and you know support
- 4:12Speaker 1: in order for you to reach your dreams. You know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: everybody has not cut out or everybody may not want
- 4:17Speaker 1: to go to the larger universities. You may not get
- 4:19Speaker 1: the the love and the hug and the extra support
- 4:22Speaker 1: that you need. Myself, I have a family that has
- 4:26Speaker 1: a history of hbcuth or So for me, it was
- 4:30Speaker 1: a no brainer because I could see the things that
- 4:32Speaker 1: they had to cheeth and and where they got their start,
- 4:36Speaker 1: and I knew definitely was something that I needed and
- 4:38Speaker 1: wanted as well. Okay, now, Dr Ferguson, Now I can
- 4:41Speaker 1: I can hear the southern drawl in your voice, because
- 4:44Speaker 1: you're a Southern boy, you know, straight out of George.
- 4:46Speaker 1: You know. Now your side kick, that doctor Hodges, he's
- 4:49Speaker 1: out of Connecticut. Let let's let's let's he have talked
- 4:51Speaker 1: a little bit and see if he's picked up that
- 4:53Speaker 1: southern drawl to it. I even done your research. I
- 4:56Speaker 1: got to hold of you're right there right there, that
- 5:01Speaker 1: voice difference, voice high, words are lot clearer. Yeah, that's
- 5:05Speaker 1: Connecticut right there, Connecticut right. I did it all of
- 5:11Speaker 1: about a month in Connecticut. A card and my mom.
- 5:13Speaker 1: So I love it. I love it. I love it
- 5:18Speaker 1: so so you made your way down to the South
- 5:21Speaker 1: and and and I've been a country boy ever since,
- 5:24Speaker 1: you know, and uh speaking about HBCUs, Fort Valley and Tuskey,
- 5:29Speaker 1: they prepared us for the world. I mean, and that's
- 5:31Speaker 1: the beauty of it because you know, as a student,
- 5:33Speaker 1: I wasn't quite ready to uh to kind of even
- 5:36Speaker 1: maybe even be a college student at the time. So
- 5:38Speaker 1: you know, they have they have people who will reach
- 5:40Speaker 1: out at Fort Valley and kind of give you the
- 5:42Speaker 1: the learning and give you the tools so that you
- 5:45Speaker 1: can realize what it takes to become a college student
- 5:47Speaker 1: and and go ahead and um and be a success story.
- 5:50Speaker 1: So you know, I can't say enough about skeege and
- 5:54Speaker 1: four element now now, now, Dr ferguson the name of
- 5:57Speaker 1: your city. I don't want to mess up that name.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Was it town botting? Your natives? That town botting? For
- 6:04Speaker 1: now Talbatons? Okay, I'm sorry. Most people don't know where
- 6:08Speaker 1: I just don't. You know, I don't care what I'm
- 6:13Speaker 1: about five hundred people that will know it. So you
- 6:16Speaker 1: couldn't let me roll of very small. When I talked
- 6:21Speaker 1: to kids, I always asked, no one knows, of course,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I always tell them it's it's near Columbus, Georgia. We
- 6:29Speaker 1: have we have two tracks, we have two traffic lights
- 6:31Speaker 1: to the costume. Right. I love it. I love it,
- 6:35Speaker 1: but I love the way you corrected me. No, you
- 6:36Speaker 1: could let that road through, you know town. Okay, we
- 6:40Speaker 1: have to get out due when we can get it. Man,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you know, we don't get into lave like too much,
- 6:43Speaker 1: so we want to make sure when we get it
- 6:45Speaker 1: we can we can we get it right. Well, you
- 6:46Speaker 1: know what, like this is what I love about you guys. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 1: first of all, personality is just just ooze through the airways.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So and now, now, when you're dealing with animals, you know,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and you're dealing with horses, you're dealing with cats, you're
- 6:57Speaker 1: dealing with you dealing with pigs, you do little with dogs,
- 7:00Speaker 1: you're dealing with cows, You're dealing with all kind of
- 7:04Speaker 1: animals come to them. So so the show that we're
- 7:07Speaker 1: talking about, that's where we have a g on the
- 7:08Speaker 1: TV on my show to talk about your show that's
- 7:11Speaker 1: gonna be premiering on the National Geo. Now I watched
- 7:14Speaker 1: the National Geo anyway because they have a show in
- 7:16Speaker 1: the call the Fish Tank Kings. I love those guys.
- 7:19Speaker 1: So it's not Geo wild. So we make sure we
- 7:22Speaker 1: get that wild that you wold you'll make sure you
- 7:26Speaker 1: know you can correct me. Now, this is your show,
- 7:28Speaker 1: this is your moment. Now, wanta make sure they're on
- 7:30Speaker 1: the right child like, we won't make sure they feel right.
- 7:32Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, don't let r shot, don't
- 7:34Speaker 1: give our bad information people looking at my No, no, no, no,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I didn't mean now this is your opportunity. We want
- 7:40Speaker 1: to make sure you're used to correct the people. I
- 7:42Speaker 1: ain't a pig. Now you just gave talk to me
- 7:44Speaker 1: and they kind of way. Now I'm not just we
- 7:49Speaker 1: can't do the fitting like we're doing in the right
- 7:51Speaker 1: right here, right right right, there's gonna squeeze my tail.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna squeak you you you look at this episode,
- 7:58Speaker 1: we cast out the count on. Now we can do
- 8:01Speaker 1: it all. I love you guys. So so here's the
- 8:05Speaker 1: here's the fun part about it, Okay, because I don't
- 8:07Speaker 1: want to brush over what you guys have accomplished before
- 8:09Speaker 1: we get to the TV show. Because you know, we
- 8:11Speaker 1: talked about you know, Tuskegee a school. Would I would
- 8:15Speaker 1: not have a thought to be a school, but it
- 8:18Speaker 1: isn't It is an agricultural college, correct, it is it is.
- 8:23Speaker 1: You know, here's here's a story, right, here's a story.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And we hadn't talked about this much, so we don't
- 8:28Speaker 1: kind of give you exclusive I only talk to a
- 8:30Speaker 1: couple of kids. So here here's a thought. So Booker T. Washson,
- 8:34Speaker 1: we all learned about book was put back in the day.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Book of T knew that a position, you know, white
- 8:41Speaker 1: positions treated white people, black positions treated black people. He
- 8:45Speaker 1: knew that a white farmer wouldn't let you treat him.
- 8:49Speaker 1: But he also knew that the most important thing to
- 8:52Speaker 1: a farmer was his mule. So if if, if you so,
- 8:56Speaker 1: if you trained the vet name, because if we didn't
- 8:58Speaker 1: have come by me, try this. But if Ben there
- 9:01Speaker 1: was there, he would let a black ben there and
- 9:03Speaker 1: sweets me. And that was the most important you know,
- 9:07Speaker 1: if he sorry that best school in the Deep South
- 9:10Speaker 1: there is all over the country, and they can help
- 9:13Speaker 1: these farmers and earn a great living right. And that's
- 9:16Speaker 1: what that's what has happened. Now that's I always say
- 9:21Speaker 1: that because now let's talk about this whole process. Because
- 9:24Speaker 1: of the fact that like like we spoke earlier about,
- 9:26Speaker 1: you have to go to medical school, to go to
- 9:29Speaker 1: veterinarian school. Now what what what? What what's the drive
- 9:33Speaker 1: to to take care of animals or to see animals healthy,
- 9:37Speaker 1: to make sure that you know, because my daughter, my wife,
- 9:40Speaker 1: you know, she her first dog died of cancer and
- 9:43Speaker 1: they just knocked her out through I mean, she was done,
- 9:47Speaker 1: you know, for a while. And because I know you
- 9:49Speaker 1: know me, you know, I'm gonna just be honest with you.
- 9:52Speaker 1: When my dog died when I was sixteen, I don't
- 9:55Speaker 1: get attached to animals anymore because that hurt me so bad.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I walked out there and keep you with laying in
- 9:59Speaker 1: the yards he was dun I'm not gonna cry like
- 10:03Speaker 1: that no more. So I don't get attached so so,
- 10:05Speaker 1: but I know that there's an emotional attachment. There's a
- 10:08Speaker 1: work part of the relationship that you can have an animal.
- 10:11Speaker 1: There's also that that that child like that family like attachment.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So were you and were you dealing with the care
- 10:18Speaker 1: of these animals? Just talk about that process there. Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: that there's something that we learned in school that's called
- 10:25Speaker 1: the human animals bond. And it's real. There's a bond
- 10:30Speaker 1: between your pets or your animals and us. There's a bond.
- 10:35Speaker 1: There's unconditional love that you get from your pets and
- 10:39Speaker 1: your animals, and it's something that you know. It's it's
- 10:42Speaker 1: not necessarily tangible you can put your finger on, but
- 10:45Speaker 1: it's definitely there and we see it every day. So
- 10:48Speaker 1: when we see our clients and our patients, they're not
- 10:51Speaker 1: like animals that are just coming in. There are members
- 10:54Speaker 1: of the family and that's how we treat them, and
- 10:56Speaker 1: that's how our clients treat them. There are members of
- 10:58Speaker 1: the family and they would do anything for them, and
- 11:02Speaker 1: of course we will too. And I think it's something
- 11:04Speaker 1: that we're born with, you know, the love for animals,
- 11:06Speaker 1: and I want to make sure that we got to
- 11:08Speaker 1: take care of people, and we're gonna take care of animals.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And that's why he and ore are in the profession
- 11:13Speaker 1: that we're in today. We know it's a beautiful profession.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Like I said that, that's why I'm willing, willing to
- 11:18Speaker 1: share my my journey that you know, my attachment to
- 11:22Speaker 1: my dog, you know, when he died, it just it
- 11:25Speaker 1: shook me up so bad. I said, I've never so
- 11:27Speaker 1: We've had several dogs and my wife I was, well,
- 11:30Speaker 1: why don't you play with us? No, no, no, that's
- 11:32Speaker 1: your dog because I'm not gonna go there. I'm not
- 11:34Speaker 1: gonna go there no more. I take care whatever you need,
- 11:37Speaker 1: dog food and all that. He can hop on my lap,
- 11:39Speaker 1: but uh please get him off because I'm not gonna
- 11:41Speaker 1: because I know what it can do to you, like
- 11:43Speaker 1: that bond that you can create. And I saw how
- 11:45Speaker 1: it shadowed her when he when he died from cancer.
- 11:48Speaker 1: You know, the dog died from cancer. So, but that's
- 11:51Speaker 1: a journey of that attachment. So it was when I
- 11:54Speaker 1: was going through your bio, it was an interesting story.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You know, you get you get to learn more about
- 11:57Speaker 1: your guests when you go through the bio. Like frinstance,
- 12:00Speaker 1: dr Hodges, he wanted to be jack Cousto. Now let
- 12:04Speaker 1: me just help you, but let me explain to everybody.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Jackson jackus So was a man. He he dove in
- 12:09Speaker 1: the water so much his skin got wrinkly. He didn't
- 12:12Speaker 1: recognize him the more he would. He was an underwater guy.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He would go out there and see the whales, the sharks,
- 12:18Speaker 1: the little fishes and everything. Jacko Sto was my man.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna lie to you, Jacko Sto, and I'm saying
- 12:25Speaker 1: in high school I wanted to work all shore because
- 12:27Speaker 1: of Jacko Sto. So when you when I saw Jacko
- 12:29Speaker 1: Stole in your in your bio, dr Hodges, I fell
- 12:32Speaker 1: in love with you, I said, he I'm playing after
- 12:34Speaker 1: my heart jack I'm something. I'm just because people don't
- 12:38Speaker 1: know about Jacko Sto. Because see, you just can't have
- 12:41Speaker 1: a Jack Cousto conversation unless somebody loves Jack Cousto. I
- 12:46Speaker 1: loved me some Jacko stoke so dry, That's what I'm saying.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I have, I have done those things. I have my
- 12:51Speaker 1: Scooper license. I went in and swam with fish and
- 12:55Speaker 1: the whales. I also went over to Nepal and developed
- 12:58Speaker 1: the whole fish project for a whole sitting a city
- 13:02Speaker 1: called Poker and Nepal when I was nineteen. So now
- 13:05Speaker 1: I've had a fish farm, I've done all stuff with fish.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I ain't a fish guy. Uh you know, I thought
- 13:11Speaker 1: that was Donna met me, But you know, I end
- 13:15Speaker 1: up being a criticis so at work that's just as good.
- 13:18Speaker 1: But who knows? I might bull dold scoop again. What
- 13:22Speaker 1: are you gonna pull the scoopy again? I just saw
- 13:24Speaker 1: Alabama by Columbus the river. Let me tell y'all, Cathos,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm I'm going to my my my my doctor was
- 13:34Speaker 1: so more. Don't be like him. That's going that New
- 13:36Speaker 1: York that Connecticut is gonna come out and say Hi,
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'm doctor, and you followed me to these mud puddles
- 13:44Speaker 1: of central Georgia and we're gonna kiss some Cathish. Dr Ferguson.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Please please stop letting your doctor be stupid on my show. Okay,
- 13:57Speaker 1: you out there. He had the schooler diving and two
- 14:02Speaker 1: ft of water, sliding on the mud, grabbing catfish with
- 14:06Speaker 1: both hands. That's what he's trying to tell. No, no,
- 14:12Speaker 1: that is not you do not no, no, no, you
- 14:16Speaker 1: do not knew that I'm gonna cut your boy. You
- 14:18Speaker 1: do not knew the scooby gear. You take your butt down. That,
- 14:26Speaker 1: let me tell everybody new to Newland is the craziest
- 14:29Speaker 1: fishing in the world. What you do is you're going
- 14:32Speaker 1: the water by by a little bit bigger than waist deep,
- 14:36Speaker 1: and then you just stick your hands in the banks
- 14:41Speaker 1: and you just be noodling for a fish, a fish
- 14:44Speaker 1: that was probably bigger than your own, and you grab
- 14:48Speaker 1: that fish and you pull it out. That's what noodlond is,
- 14:51Speaker 1: is it? Women? Noodle, guys, noodles, kids noodles. That is
- 14:56Speaker 1: a sport that I could never do. But hes talking
- 14:59Speaker 1: about he gonna go scoopl guy, scoopa diving in Newland.
- 15:02Speaker 1: You do not noodle with snorkele fins, snorkel mask, snorkel tank,
- 15:08Speaker 1: none of that I know not sin is a snorkel tank.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry that your pocket. I think you might have
- 15:14Speaker 1: a good country card. You know a lot about country
- 15:16Speaker 1: bar a mellinated, but he know a lot about being
- 15:22Speaker 1: a country ball. You have your country card on your back.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Now let me go with you, Dr fergus because I
- 15:26Speaker 1: didn't find nothing interested in your bio. You know, maybe
- 15:29Speaker 1: you're just holding out on the brother. I know your
- 15:32Speaker 1: family man and all that good stuff. But please let
- 15:34Speaker 1: me know what is so interesting about you that they
- 15:37Speaker 1: put you on TV against the very interested Dr Hodges.
- 15:40Speaker 1: He's a personality, he got all the good stories. He's
- 15:43Speaker 1: a funny guy. What do you have? He fun from
- 15:46Speaker 1: off north to He don't stay there for a month,
- 15:48Speaker 1: but he came on out here and joined us Southernlands.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Tell us about it that, Dr Ferguson. Let me let
- 15:53Speaker 1: me ask you a question. You ever you ever seen
- 15:55Speaker 1: a black guy on Kodiak Island? Money for bears fishing
- 16:00Speaker 1: is staying on there for a month in a remote
- 16:02Speaker 1: area and running water, no electricity. It's only with the
- 16:09Speaker 1: largest bears in the world. It's finally here, the season

- 18:12Speaker 1: had doing out there? Okay? Okay? So in undergrad we
- 18:17Speaker 1: talked about HBCUs and the opportunities that in the nurturing
- 18:21Speaker 1: they give you. Well summer and um. When I was
- 18:24Speaker 1: in undergrad, I worked for the U S fish and wildlife. Great, great, right,
- 18:27Speaker 1: right right that bio. I did read that your bio,
- 18:29Speaker 1: sir so um. One summer I worked in Alaska, and
- 18:33Speaker 1: I was in Keena, Alaska, and saw Doctor Alaska and
- 18:36Speaker 1: on Kodiak Island. So what we did was we had
- 18:39Speaker 1: a fitch weird um on Kodak Island and we were
- 18:43Speaker 1: studying salmon. And the big deal is, you know, when
- 18:47Speaker 1: salmon are born in the little small streams, they lived
- 18:51Speaker 1: there for a few weeks a month, they go in
- 18:54Speaker 1: the lake, they go in the ocean, and they stay
- 18:56Speaker 1: in the ocean for three or four or five years.
- 18:59Speaker 1: After that, they come back to the same stream. That's amazing.
- 19:04Speaker 1: They lay eggs and they died. But what we were
- 19:07Speaker 1: trying to figure out is how do they know where
- 19:09Speaker 1: to come back to? There? There are several lakes. There
- 19:11Speaker 1: are a lot of lakes. There are a lot of streams. Now,
- 19:13Speaker 1: when I say stream, it's not as wide as a
- 19:15Speaker 1: car now, I don't mean a big river. But they
- 19:17Speaker 1: find their way, but all the way back to that
- 19:19Speaker 1: area to spawn with your legs. And then they died.
- 19:24Speaker 1: So I was out there for a whole month and
- 19:26Speaker 1: we're stutting bears and wolves and eagles while we were
- 19:29Speaker 1: out there, and I'm all at black guy out there,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you know. And I didn't know until later on. My
- 19:33Speaker 1: mother was kind of nervous when I went, and I
- 19:35Speaker 1: just I shouldn't understand why. But I'm not in I'm older.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I understand why. I want to know why. It was
- 19:40Speaker 1: her baby way up in a lab. You can't put
- 19:42Speaker 1: her hands on him. He's in the bushes running Why
- 19:44Speaker 1: I was bear? You know, it could have been the
- 19:46Speaker 1: last time she saw me. Absolutely, I agree with her
- 19:49Speaker 1: on that. I agree with on that. Now, let me
- 19:51Speaker 1: ask you this, did you figure out why they have
- 19:54Speaker 1: the ability to do that? Because I've seen that do
- 19:56Speaker 1: community several times on how A couple of reasons were
- 20:01Speaker 1: the really the researcher was still ongoing, but one is
- 20:04Speaker 1: moon phase. The other was what we call the salinity
- 20:08Speaker 1: or the the basically ingredients that thing that's in the water,
- 20:12Speaker 1: um draw them back to that certain area. It's a
- 20:16Speaker 1: that's really amazing because they have to fight through bears,
- 20:18Speaker 1: They have to fight through they swam up stream, correct, correct,
- 20:22Speaker 1: you're correct? Yeah, And I just watching they go out
- 20:25Speaker 1: stream to go to the ocean. But they had to
- 20:27Speaker 1: fight their way back up stream to get to um
- 20:30Speaker 1: to those little creeks. And they were because I I
- 20:33Speaker 1: spent some time in Alaska, so I know that's a
- 20:36Speaker 1: that's a you know, because what man, you ain't spend
- 20:38Speaker 1: no timing all out, doctor, I'm talking to Dr Ferguson.
- 20:42Speaker 1: See you bust into that conversation like that, doctor, just
- 20:46Speaker 1: a TV we have. You know what you go with
- 20:51Speaker 1: your little car fish, little car fish over there, they
- 20:54Speaker 1: play with your little card fish. Or look little property
- 20:57Speaker 1: that right there. We're talking about flaming over here. We're
- 20:59Speaker 1: not talking a my little corn. Yeah, we ain't paid
- 21:01Speaker 1: a bunch of money for a little fish. It just
- 21:02Speaker 1: went two ft to one side of the two ft
- 21:05Speaker 1: one side, two ft on the side. I didn't point
- 21:06Speaker 1: over there. You see my card You see my car
- 21:09Speaker 1: A little fat fish. I love y'all both. Well, let's
- 21:14Speaker 1: let's let's talk about the show. Tell us to tell
- 21:16Speaker 1: us about the show. Set us all up, because we're
- 21:19Speaker 1: not through yet. I'm just gonna just talk about the show.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Make sure we get some time so people understand. You
- 21:23Speaker 1: guys are big personalities, You're very talented. How did they
- 21:26Speaker 1: discover you guys to put you in a television series.
- 21:30Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean the big thing we already in
- 21:32Speaker 1: rural Georgia. But the thing about about with social media
- 21:36Speaker 1: is it doesn't matter where you are. If you're good,
- 21:38Speaker 1: people will find you. So this got restopped to me
- 21:40Speaker 1: from New York with a productor with the productive company
- 21:43Speaker 1: that he didn't run and say, hey, doc, uh, I
- 21:46Speaker 1: want to put you on TV and uh, you know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: make and and and share your story and I ignore them.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Of courses, I thought it was spam. But you know,
- 21:55Speaker 1: after while we didn't get a dialogue and talk, and
- 21:58Speaker 1: then I was like, of course, you know, critifies me
- 22:00Speaker 1: and my partner and crime. He's like, of course. And
- 22:03Speaker 1: I called the person and I did the same thing
- 22:07Speaker 1: he did. I ignored him. Why am I surprised? That's
- 22:13Speaker 1: what I said, y'all boss it with them animals, just
- 22:15Speaker 1: just that's what we do. That's that's the time of
- 22:19Speaker 1: God gave us that we could take care of some menial.
- 22:21Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. We criticised and we tackle them off. Small,
- 22:25Speaker 1: it doesn't matter small. You did you not use it?
- 22:28Speaker 1: What did you use? That? Said the word camel? Camel? Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 1: The next episode this Saturday night at ten on that deal.
- 22:35Speaker 1: While people would be able to see a camel. Uh.
- 22:39Speaker 1: This camel was used if used in um nativity scenes
- 22:42Speaker 1: and he was getting a little frisk in the Nativity scene.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So we had removed him home. Now y'all take away
- 22:52Speaker 1: his man. That's what you said, yeah, because he was
- 22:57Speaker 1: really going away in amazing So he was having exactly
- 23:03Speaker 1: stop that. What you do? What you doing, mama? What's
- 23:09Speaker 1: going on with the camel? Exactly? You know, the last
- 23:15Speaker 1: thing you need is something dangling in the camel. I've
- 23:22Speaker 1: cheered that capital can talk. He has something to say.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Right now, he was trying to talk. You tune in,
- 23:29Speaker 1: trying to talk to us. Then every day before we
- 23:33Speaker 1: did it every day for that camel was day. I
- 23:39Speaker 1: love it. I love it so so now that's the
- 23:43Speaker 1: biggest animal. So what is the smallest animal you guys
- 23:46Speaker 1: are gonna work with on the show? A spider? Huh?
- 23:53Speaker 1: Did you hear you heard that right? A spider? A spider? Okay,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I see, I would never think that would be something
- 24:00Speaker 1: at the event would work on, would be a spider,
- 24:02Speaker 1: because I would think that if you start working on it,
- 24:04Speaker 1: he's so small you would kill him. No, I mean
- 24:07Speaker 1: we didn't. We did. This was more husbander how to
- 24:10Speaker 1: take care of the spider, because you know, people pay
- 24:13Speaker 1: a lot of money for these big spiders and so
- 24:15Speaker 1: you gotta see them sometimes. This simple spider wasn't eating
- 24:18Speaker 1: as much as the guy thought, but he was doing
- 24:20Speaker 1: the web. But the big thing is he was in
- 24:23Speaker 1: the smaller and closes, so he didn't need to eat much.
- 24:25Speaker 1: So after explaining that, spiders still doing well. Okay, So
- 24:30Speaker 1: so so you guys do like a nutrition. Yeah, nutrition everything.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Nutrition is is the big part of everything. So yeah, right,
- 24:39Speaker 1: and so when you look at when you let me
- 24:40Speaker 1: ask you this where you're located there right now? Why
- 24:43Speaker 1: did you pick that location? So we're both country boys,
- 24:47Speaker 1: I mean literally, you know you could have done right
- 24:53Speaker 1: it is, yeah, we could have, but I mean I'm
- 24:55Speaker 1: being honest with and we was poor. We're trying to
- 24:57Speaker 1: get Harris. What was the name of that place America?
- 25:00Speaker 1: The hair it was? It was it was in Snailville.
- 25:05Speaker 1: So we tried to get um cleaning here in Snailville.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Um and uh, I mean, unfortunately, you know we went
- 25:12Speaker 1: to we didn't have much. We didn't know much about
- 25:16Speaker 1: finances at the time. We didn't know how to box.
- 25:18Speaker 1: So we had no credit, no finances, no money, and
- 25:21Speaker 1: of course you denied for that loan. That's the best
- 25:23Speaker 1: thing ever happened. So we end up going home. We
- 25:27Speaker 1: were in an eight hundred square foot can't shop a
- 25:33Speaker 1: hunter square feet. We went about wood from home depot.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Let just tell you guys, my first apartment was seven
- 25:38Speaker 1: hundred square feet, so I know exactly I was a
- 25:40Speaker 1: hundred square feet in my studio apartment, right, and we
- 25:45Speaker 1: we built that place out. We built two exam rooms,
- 25:48Speaker 1: we built a little surgery room, and um, we just
- 25:51Speaker 1: used our skills. I mean we went around we big guards.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Something we bought like use equipment. We went over to
- 25:57Speaker 1: who was that Hunters Gas and went to gas in right,
- 26:00Speaker 1: and we bought from cages. I guess the guy felt
- 26:02Speaker 1: sorry for and he gave us an X ray machine
- 26:04Speaker 1: because we didn't have one. This X ray machine was
- 26:07Speaker 1: a World War two X ray machine World War two.
- 26:10Speaker 1: But it worked, but it worked. I love it, but
- 26:13Speaker 1: it worked. Though. As long as it worked, were good.
- 26:16Speaker 1: We're good. Now I'm trying to figure it because I
- 26:17Speaker 1: just told everybody I know exactly how big eight hundred
- 26:20Speaker 1: square feet is. Because my first appartment was seven and
- 26:22Speaker 1: square feet. Now he didn't put an X ray machine
- 26:25Speaker 1: in there. From World War Two, he didn't put a
- 26:26Speaker 1: little surgery room in there. Now they didn't win and
- 26:28Speaker 1: got some cages. Now did the people just walk through
- 26:31Speaker 1: the front door right through the surgery because I don't
- 26:33Speaker 1: see no area for a little reception. We had a
- 26:37Speaker 1: very very small reception area, maybe two chairs two chairs.
- 26:41Speaker 1: So they come in sitting in there with the chickens
- 26:43Speaker 1: sitting in there with their dogs, sitting in there with
- 26:44Speaker 1: their little pigs. So that's how they all started. And
- 26:47Speaker 1: I do when you're using credit cards that they that
- 26:50Speaker 1: they bother you for food or what was going on
- 26:52Speaker 1: in those early years. We have very humble beginnings. I
- 26:57Speaker 1: can remember when Dr Hodges and I got our first check.
- 27:01Speaker 1: It was less than a hundred dollars, but if you
- 27:02Speaker 1: saw the smile on our face, it was worth a
- 27:05Speaker 1: million dollars because that was our beginning. Um. But things
- 27:10Speaker 1: did move pretty fast forward because within the four months
- 27:13Speaker 1: we started a second location franchise franchise. Things moved fast.
- 27:18Speaker 1: You know, God was good, you blessed stuff. And we're
- 27:21Speaker 1: we we love our community. Our communities are small, but
- 27:25Speaker 1: we are members of our communities, which means that we're
- 27:30Speaker 1: a family. They treat us like family, we treat them
- 27:33Speaker 1: like family. Have been awesome to us in our area
- 27:36Speaker 1: and that and and it shows in the growth that
- 27:37Speaker 1: we've had. So it's a trust though. It's like like
- 27:41Speaker 1: you were staying earlier. Is like you learned that in
- 27:44Speaker 1: school of the bond between an animal and human and
- 27:48Speaker 1: and that and this, and this's an honest bond because
- 27:52Speaker 1: I always treated like you know when you because both
- 27:55Speaker 1: of you have children, so you know what I'm talking about.
- 27:57Speaker 1: You know, I always your child, you know, born, and
- 28:01Speaker 1: and you just see them physically and you barely don't
- 28:04Speaker 1: want to hold them cause you feel it might break them.
- 28:06Speaker 1: And then they started crawling, and then they wanted to
- 28:09Speaker 1: they start trying to talk, you know, So just look
- 28:12Speaker 1: at an animal right there. Stop stop it right there.
- 28:15Speaker 1: So you have you have somebody that just has unlimited
- 28:18Speaker 1: love for you and wants instructions, wants instructions. You throw
- 28:23Speaker 1: a stick it for a dog, That dog will get
- 28:24Speaker 1: that stick. I don't care how many times you throw
- 28:26Speaker 1: that stick. That dog will get that stick. You did
- 28:28Speaker 1: it for a child two years old. They do the
- 28:30Speaker 1: same thing you you can. You can put the same
- 28:33Speaker 1: TV show on in front of a child's and then
- 28:35Speaker 1: look at it. They just keep it. That's what you
- 28:37Speaker 1: want me to watch. I'll watch it. That's what that's
- 28:39Speaker 1: what they do. I'll watch it one more time and
- 28:41Speaker 1: Ladder Laddin for the third year time. I'm gonna watch it.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And that's what you get in an animal and that
- 28:47Speaker 1: that you that you believe in your care. I don't
- 28:48Speaker 1: care if it's a horse. I don't care if it's
- 28:50Speaker 1: a cow, a bull. It is that that that process.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So because I am gonna cut your ball. I'm from Houston,
- 28:56Speaker 1: Texas field for but I'm a bank fishing okay, so
- 29:01Speaker 1: you know, so y'all could just stop talking to me.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I'm a bank fisherman. Now, you know what doing something about?
- 29:05Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about? The cane pole. I
- 29:07Speaker 1: know about the cave pole. You know with the little bob.
- 29:09Speaker 1: That's what I started. Perch and large mall, small mall bass.
- 29:14Speaker 1: You know, stand on the side, slip the coup. Ain't
- 29:18Speaker 1: said the word go. I was born in the city,
- 29:25Speaker 1: y'all need to stop, man. I was born in the city.
- 29:32Speaker 1: You come out, you come down. Yeah, I will come
- 29:35Speaker 1: out here to be kicked a little like what sending on.
- 29:41Speaker 1: And so catfish, that's when I learned about calfish. My
- 29:44Speaker 1: daddy pull all the guts out of the cash fish
- 29:47Speaker 1: and it was still swimming. I went, oh my god.
- 29:50Speaker 1: So catfish, they're the hardest fish in the world to kill.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Is a catfish. That's where you gotta cut the head.
- 29:57Speaker 1: That's where you gotta cut the head off. A catfish.
- 29:58Speaker 1: You cut all you They know I'm talking to fats.
- 30:01Speaker 1: They know what I'm talking about. And the catfish. If
- 30:04Speaker 1: you grab it wrong, you might well just grab a knife.
- 30:08Speaker 1: They will put something on you on it. Well, my goodness,
- 30:10Speaker 1: you put something on you for real. I just gotta
- 30:13Speaker 1: get my country license with my boys, you see. So
- 30:15Speaker 1: I can't let it get off the phone, you know,
- 30:17Speaker 1: let them think they just got some little regular old
- 30:19Speaker 1: Atlanta ball on the phone. Because see, you do a
- 30:22Speaker 1: country people they act like their own country, just like
- 30:24Speaker 1: can stand off of the act like their own country.
- 30:28Speaker 1: But they like they look like they're patent it like
- 30:30Speaker 1: they trade more country. Now I got country to now,
- 30:33Speaker 1: now you might want to be Jacko stole up up
- 30:37Speaker 1: there in Alaska trying to shoot bars, and your mama
- 30:39Speaker 1: worried about you because you don't know where you're at
- 30:41Speaker 1: because you ain't have no cell phone back then, trying
- 30:45Speaker 1: to watch fish go upstream, been slapped down by bars
- 30:49Speaker 1: and all that good stuff. You are. They're the only
- 30:51Speaker 1: black dude looking around going what's wrong? Everybody gonna you're
- 30:55Speaker 1: the wrong? What are you doing up here? But I
- 31:01Speaker 1: love it, man, because y'all groundbreakers, man. And when I
- 31:04Speaker 1: say groundbreakers, I mean you guys are leaders in the
- 31:07Speaker 1: game because you're human and you don't see color. And
- 31:11Speaker 1: that that is what I wish the world will do
- 31:14Speaker 1: more of its. And like you said, you know, Book
- 31:17Speaker 1: of Washington started this a long time ago. You show
- 31:20Speaker 1: people value, they will treat you for your value. That
- 31:25Speaker 1: is what you guys are doing every day. Tell us
- 31:27Speaker 1: everybody one more time about your show and how we
- 31:29Speaker 1: can watch it or national g O wild. But well,
- 31:34Speaker 1: your critics fix the country vests. We're gonna be on
- 31:36Speaker 1: every Saturday night on that deal while at Pendlecock. And
- 31:40Speaker 1: if you don't have that deal, while we gotta everybody
- 31:43Speaker 1: has Amazon Prime, you can get the whole series on
- 31:47Speaker 1: Amazon Prime for none. So either way, it kiss the
- 31:51Speaker 1: country of it, either on that you Know While or
- 31:53Speaker 1: Amazon Prime. I love both of you, guys, I always do.
- 31:57Speaker 1: You can come on my show now. I got a
- 31:58Speaker 1: little lake side my yard, in my backyard, So what
- 32:02Speaker 1: I'm gonna do is when my wife get back in town,
