- 1:47Speaker 1: I don't want to do that? Can I do this?
- 1:49Speaker 1: And sometimes you talk to the wrong people There just
- 1:51Speaker 1: for you not to follow your gifts, not to follow
- 1:53Speaker 1: your dream, not to follow your aspirations, until you have
- 1:56Speaker 1: to surround yourself with mentors who believe that you can
- 1:58Speaker 1: do that, who supports you. Because you're gonna have some
- 2:01Speaker 1: down moments there that you need to turn. Somebody said,
- 2:03Speaker 1: it's all right, you can get past that. You can
- 2:05Speaker 1: get past that because they will share that information. And

- 2:55Speaker 1: Hey mother, they got I have to set you up. Man.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You know when when you're on my show for the
- 2:59Speaker 1: first time, I let you know I got love, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: got respect for you, and I'm about to catch the
- 3:03Speaker 1: love from the free pro line like, hey man, how
- 3:08Speaker 1: you doing that? I've done really good? Right now where
- 3:10Speaker 1: you where you're sitting there talking to me, talking to
- 3:12Speaker 1: me at I'm in Los Angeles right now, cooling off
- 3:15Speaker 1: and getting my bones rested back up from shooting a
- 3:19Speaker 1: video yesterday in Nashville with Jonathan McReynolds. Awesome, awesome. Yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: I was in l A. In fact, I was in
- 3:25Speaker 1: like Friday. You know that a city was still morning
- 3:28Speaker 1: the passing of Kobe. You know that man, it was crazy.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You know, just hasn't left and left, you know, it
- 3:36Speaker 1: just stays. It's crazy. It's really crazy because you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: the busses in front of them say rest in peace, Kobe,
- 3:41Speaker 1: when you're dry by every every every billboard is available
- 3:46Speaker 1: that hasn't been bought. It's been flipped out to some
- 3:48Speaker 1: type of commentary about what this young man did. And
- 3:52Speaker 1: then when I you know, I only only bring that
- 3:54Speaker 1: up because you move your music, and because I listened
- 3:57Speaker 1: to your new cut let go and then and then
- 3:59Speaker 1: I went back, and I stepped back and listened to
- 4:02Speaker 1: some of your earlier cuts. And you you're a storyteller,
- 4:07Speaker 1: but your stories also tap into emotions that anything is possible,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know, And where did that come from? Because I
- 4:15Speaker 1: looked at your background, your your Phoenix boy, You're born
- 4:17Speaker 1: in Phoenix. Okay, that's that's hot, hot desert over there.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And then you grew up in the in the southern South.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Good food Savannah, Georgia. Talk to me about that. Well, yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: my mom being in the military and uh before it's
- 4:32Speaker 1: just a pleasure to be on the show. Thank you
- 4:34Speaker 1: so much. I'm already such a fan. And the cultivation
- 4:37Speaker 1: and the fertile lives and that you bring into the
- 4:39Speaker 1: young and old minds. I really appreciate it. I'm glad
- 4:43Speaker 1: to be a part of this. Thank you. Um. But yeah, Phoenix, Arizona,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and you know that on a flight straightway to my grandmother,
- 4:53Speaker 1: great grandmother Rose Lax, and she had a church name
- 4:56Speaker 1: Loving Faith. She operated under the for stalk, which I
- 5:01Speaker 1: didn't really understand the depth of until really later. You know,
- 5:04Speaker 1: because you have preachers, pastors, teachers, healers, you have many
- 5:09Speaker 1: different sections inside of it. But it's a gift and
- 5:12Speaker 1: a rare thing when somebody embodies many of them with humility.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That was a lady who kind of raised me and
- 5:18Speaker 1: also who kind of broke me in, so she saw
- 5:21Speaker 1: the gift to me early. I'm I tell the story
- 5:23Speaker 1: to my family all the time. I'm six or seven
- 5:26Speaker 1: years old, shaking in front of her congregation by her
- 5:29Speaker 1: commanded me to come up there, and I'm crying and
- 5:32Speaker 1: my sisters and cousins getting tired of like boy, just
- 5:34Speaker 1: come on, and I'll cry and I'm looking at her
- 5:36Speaker 1: like can I get down, and she'll say no, just
- 5:38Speaker 1: say no, and then she'll give me the mi like
- 5:40Speaker 1: you ready, and I'll go into this song and I'll
- 5:43Speaker 1: sing I still have joy, Still have joy to all
- 5:47Speaker 1: the things I've been too, still have joy and you know,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and then I'll get finished, thinking that she'll be proud
- 5:54Speaker 1: and it's just say sing it one more time with feeling.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And I think that that's kind of what change, because
- 6:00Speaker 1: by the time I would finish singing it again, I
- 6:03Speaker 1: would open up my eyes and it wouldn't be a
- 6:05Speaker 1: dry in the room. Mom would be crying. Mom, my
- 6:09Speaker 1: sisters and my cousins would be paying attention and proud
- 6:12Speaker 1: of me, and that was something that would come out.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So she just always taught me to get over that
- 6:16Speaker 1: fear and let me know that it wasn't real. It
- 6:18Speaker 1: wasn't gonna do nothing but stopped me and uh and
- 6:21Speaker 1: and me breaking through that and sing it was really good.
- 6:23Speaker 1: My mom identified that gift early, and they cultivated it
- 6:26Speaker 1: and caught it, caught it quick, and I was able
- 6:29Speaker 1: to get busy early. Man. Well, you know, it's really
- 6:31Speaker 1: interesting because I had a very early church experience. I
- 6:34Speaker 1: was seven years old, and you know, they called me
- 6:36Speaker 1: to the front of the church. You know, I remember
- 6:38Speaker 1: the church, Sunlight Baptist Church. That's the church right at
- 6:40Speaker 1: the corner, you know it, because it's like trauma. They
- 6:43Speaker 1: called me up there and and I couldn't sing, so
- 6:45Speaker 1: I can only talk. And I remember I told him that,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I just said, I want to be a place where
- 6:50Speaker 1: you can change my life, because if you change my life,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I can make somebody else life better. And then they went,
- 6:56Speaker 1: did this come from a seven year old boy? All?
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'm just speaking? I was just speaking. I would just
- 7:00Speaker 1: speaking and um. But but nlike you, I didn't have
- 7:03Speaker 1: mentors that kept me straight. You know. I just went
- 7:06Speaker 1: out into the world just learning on the fly. And
- 7:09Speaker 1: I learned on the fly and and and nothing wrong
- 7:12Speaker 1: with the path that I've taken, because I've done nothing wrong.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But but what I hear is your storytelling is these mentors,
- 7:18Speaker 1: these these people who these important values that females put
- 7:23Speaker 1: into your life. That gave you a soul or suftness
- 7:25Speaker 1: to be able to share with us do music. Absolutely,
- 7:28Speaker 1: and it was also a lesson inside of it too.
- 7:31Speaker 1: You say mentors, I say like gatekeepers, and these are
- 7:36Speaker 1: people who kind of helped me through, like um, get
- 7:40Speaker 1: through certain access points. You know, I'm on top of it.
- 7:44Speaker 1: There was was a vicarious blessing inside of me that
- 7:48Speaker 1: they didn't want to see tainted, thwart it, exploited are
- 7:52Speaker 1: are used negatively, So there was kind of responsibility on
- 7:56Speaker 1: people around me to protect me. Um. I guess in
- 7:59Speaker 1: them too actually with me doing it young, so they
- 8:01Speaker 1: kind of took it upon themselves. The hard part was
- 8:04Speaker 1: getting over and passed when that's when that security and
- 8:08Speaker 1: counsel and mentor ship was done. When I was actually
- 8:12Speaker 1: at the at the end of that, and that the
- 8:14Speaker 1: cusps and the precipice of what was actually supposed to
- 8:17Speaker 1: happen with me. It's kind of like everybody, if they're blessed,
- 8:20Speaker 1: you get reared from like you know, going into school
- 8:24Speaker 1: and when you graduate to twelfth grade, but then when
- 8:26Speaker 1: you go on your own, that's actually the beginning of
- 8:29Speaker 1: your responsive life. You get what I'm saying, So all
- 8:33Speaker 1: the all the things that you were saying were really good,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but I never got nothing done and I never actually
- 8:38Speaker 1: made no real money because those were the people who
- 8:41Speaker 1: were actually the minds over it. So they were kind
- 8:43Speaker 1: of caught the fish right before it fell into my mouth,
- 8:46Speaker 1: you get what I mean. And the only thing that
- 8:48Speaker 1: I was getting at that time is what was dispensed
- 8:50Speaker 1: to me. That right there made me very eager to
- 8:53Speaker 1: get out there and learn the things that I needed
- 8:55Speaker 1: to myself. That taught me the contractual information that I
- 8:59Speaker 1: needed to know to find why they were so driven
- 9:01Speaker 1: to do what they were doing and to make more
- 9:03Speaker 1: we couldn't operate and fear. We know, it's really interesting
- 9:06Speaker 1: just hearing your voice and hearing that tone, and you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: because um, I like the listen to music, especially artists
- 9:12Speaker 1: I've never heard before in the dark, because I always
- 9:16Speaker 1: like to just be in a dark space, because I
- 9:17Speaker 1: don't want visuals to interfere with the with the lyrics.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Because it really people do that. They realized that, you know,
- 9:24Speaker 1: music is really powerful, you know, you know, and and
- 9:28Speaker 1: it moves me to tears, you know, it can move
- 9:30Speaker 1: me to laughter, it can move me to understand and
- 9:33Speaker 1: and then I then I then I start going to
- 9:35Speaker 1: do your bio and I'm going your influences sam cooking,
- 9:39Speaker 1: your influences old and oldest reading. I'm going like what
- 9:43Speaker 1: this young board, nobody? This is what this young board?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Nobody that Molly music? What you know about old this
- 9:50Speaker 1: come on now saying well, I always loved music, and
- 9:54Speaker 1: and I was blessed to come up in like a
- 9:56Speaker 1: hip hop era and um and also I was like
- 10:01Speaker 1: classically influence on piano. So there was a version of
- 10:06Speaker 1: my piano playing when my soul was just happy, when
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm out there slapping doing what I moaned. And then
- 10:12Speaker 1: that was a version that came when I would be
- 10:14Speaker 1: able to implement and showpin and different things that would
- 10:18Speaker 1: give me techniques that would bring class and flare. Then
- 10:21Speaker 1: church runs will start to turning, the jazz runs, and
- 10:24Speaker 1: then art tatum would start to come out of it,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and then there will be these different tones. Like so
- 10:28Speaker 1: if I would do things on the piano, the people
- 10:30Speaker 1: that would hear it mentors before me, say boy, you
- 10:33Speaker 1: need to listen to this, And that's how I got
- 10:35Speaker 1: turned onto it. But one of the biggest things was,
- 10:37Speaker 1: like I said, coming up in the hip hop Era,
- 10:39Speaker 1: all of these samples. Everything was sample crazy like, and
- 10:44Speaker 1: I would be the one that will look and want
- 10:45Speaker 1: to hear the original song, so I would. So there
- 10:48Speaker 1: would these type of artists that would get sample consistently,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and those would be the ones that went. That's how
- 10:53Speaker 1: I got really big on James Brown, really big on
- 10:55Speaker 1: Ray Charles, really big on Arista My Hellia, you know,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and just started going back and then as I was
- 11:02Speaker 1: looking compare, there will be no black singers that would
- 11:05Speaker 1: have that type of electrifying sect for people now, and
- 11:08Speaker 1: I wanted to replicate that. And what I did, well,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you know the thing I love about, you know, not
- 11:13Speaker 1: only the music, but the business side of these individuals.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Rach Hall, you know right right, Sam Cook was incredible
- 11:20Speaker 1: when you read this story and how that's why they
- 11:23Speaker 1: had to take him out. You get what I mean.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He was right at the beginning of what I'm trying
- 11:27Speaker 1: to push forward. You get what I'm saying. I understand
- 11:31Speaker 1: what was going on, but you know, man, because you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: they were dealing with racism, strong open racism, and the
- 11:37Speaker 1: year these brothers going in there saying I gotta have this,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I want my rights, I want my I want all
- 11:43Speaker 1: back to me, or that percentage isn't enough because they
- 11:46Speaker 1: know they could just stop playing your music right there.
- 11:49Speaker 1: You know, that's when Paola was blatant back then and
- 11:52Speaker 1: then and then and to hear you, I just got
- 11:54Speaker 1: and and what it excites me? You said, I know
- 11:56Speaker 1: about that, it's music, but I also know the business
- 11:59Speaker 1: side of what you bout talk about that that part
- 12:01Speaker 1: of me. Our relationship just started Mr Music, Mr Music,
- 12:05Speaker 1: eminem music started, brother because because you know, because your culture.
- 12:10Speaker 1: You know the thing about my show, money making conversation.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I gotta talk to you. I gotta talk to you
- 12:16Speaker 1: because of the fact that I got forty five and
- 12:19Speaker 1: up on Lockdown, Lockdown. You know what I'm saying. But
- 12:21Speaker 1: you're my future. You're next twenty years. You're gonna change
- 12:24Speaker 1: the face of music. The way we walk and where
- 12:26Speaker 1: we talk, clothing styles, all those things are being accepted.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Now they're crossing over. You're growing up in the era
- 12:32Speaker 1: where you look on TV you see yourself. When I
- 12:35Speaker 1: grew up, I had to see I didn't see myself.
- 12:38Speaker 1: You know, you see yourself, and now you see yourself
- 12:40Speaker 1: with with with with with cross racial relationships in commercials
- 12:43Speaker 1: and and Nick couples and commercials and all that stuff.
- 12:46Speaker 1: So there's a journey you're gonna take with your music
- 12:49Speaker 1: that's incredible. On the phone, I'm talking to a man
- 12:52Speaker 1: who's reaching across all platforms R and B, hip hop,
- 12:55Speaker 1: gospel and urban contemporary. We'll be back to talking about
- 12:58Speaker 1: this new single. Let go my man, don't you go nowhere,
- 13:01Speaker 1: and y'all don't go into where my main conversations. Be
- 13:03Speaker 1: right back with my man Molly Music. We'll be right
- 13:08Speaker 1: back with more from Mars McDonald and money making conversations.

- 15:07Speaker 1: That's O T T E R dot ai. Well, you
- 15:15Speaker 1: know this is a money making conversation. I'm your host
- 15:17Speaker 1: with Sean McDonald. It's really great to get up an
- 15:20Speaker 1: artist on you know, he was birthed in uh, the
- 15:23Speaker 1: hot deserts like a phoenix. He rolls up and he
- 15:26Speaker 1: took him on over to get that little like like
- 15:29Speaker 1: a good gumbo. Took him to Savannah to know, put
- 15:31Speaker 1: some shrimp in there with him, put some ochre in
- 15:33Speaker 1: there with us, some corn and and and put some
- 15:36Speaker 1: some some shrimping that some people chicken in there, pump
- 15:40Speaker 1: people crab legs in there. And they shaped the young
- 15:43Speaker 1: man who came out of here with this storytelling the
- 15:45Speaker 1: ability put him in front of the church when he's younger,
- 15:48Speaker 1: and they said, hey, that's not come on, don't worry
- 15:50Speaker 1: about those people. Give us what God can can deliver
- 15:53Speaker 1: out of you right there, and it's set stage for
- 15:56Speaker 1: you who you are today. And I have them on
- 15:58Speaker 1: my show telling that his side of the store because
- 16:01Speaker 1: I can only describe. You know, I'm a I'm a
- 16:04Speaker 1: visual communicator, but you have the emotional you have the journey.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Mr Music talked to us about why did you do
- 16:11Speaker 1: the song this song let Go? Right, Well, I'm really
- 16:16Speaker 1: excited about the song let Go. I feel like it
- 16:19Speaker 1: is a necessary part um. My last album, The Transition
- 16:23Speaker 1: of Molley Music I was released the end of two thousands,
- 16:31Speaker 1: and um I was really I was wanting to release
- 16:34Speaker 1: another album once. I didn't want to in the circumstances
- 16:38Speaker 1: I was in at the time. I was with Sony
- 16:41Speaker 1: the Way of by Storm, with Mark Pitts and m
- 16:46Speaker 1: those guys over there whoever to help me with the
- 16:48Speaker 1: initial album Molly is um. But there was some understanding issues,
- 16:53Speaker 1: or some release issues, or just some conflictual things that
- 16:56Speaker 1: was going on that I didn't want to destroy my career,
- 17:00Speaker 1: on my future, on my opportunity. There was some love
- 17:02Speaker 1: and some understanding there too, so we had to do
- 17:05Speaker 1: some things I had to let go there. That turned
- 17:09Speaker 1: into a lot of business and you know, legal stuff
- 17:11Speaker 1: that was going on. And as I was coming out, UM,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I recognized in order to get back into the groove.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I needed to heal first. I needed to extract all
- 17:20Speaker 1: the things that I had um brought in to get
- 17:24Speaker 1: where I was. For example, we may see a movie
- 17:27Speaker 1: where there's a person who goes to war and and
- 17:31Speaker 1: there's a mindset or a level of uh, just a
- 17:35Speaker 1: heightened attention stand that they need for their own lives
- 17:39Speaker 1: to keeping their head on the swivel in a sense.
- 17:41Speaker 1: But once you come back to a place of peace,
- 17:43Speaker 1: you have to relearn and readapt peace techniques and and
- 17:47Speaker 1: you know, not not fixing your gun, not sharpening your sword,
- 17:50Speaker 1: not looking over your shoulder recognizing that it's there. So
- 17:54Speaker 1: the let go represents that Um, the fact that you know, Molly,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you're out, know you've made it. God has given you success.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Don't be Um. You don't be a prisoner in your mind,
- 18:04Speaker 1: even though you were cast it into prison. You know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: don't be um murderer in your mind, even though God
- 18:11Speaker 1: gave you, you know, the head of your enemies, you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: for you to get to where you are. You know,
- 18:15Speaker 1: don't be Um. Anything negative inside of your mind got
- 18:19Speaker 1: equipped you to get where you are now. It's something
- 18:22Speaker 1: for you to shake those things off and stand as
- 18:24Speaker 1: a king and champion and the representation that God will
- 18:27Speaker 1: have me to be. In order to do that, I
- 18:30Speaker 1: had to be honest about the things that I had
- 18:31Speaker 1: accumulated going up. And it was just very candid and cool.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Like in the verse, I say, it's just the force
- 18:36Speaker 1: of the habit. It's right in my way, so I
- 18:38Speaker 1: grab it. It's right in my way, so I passed.
- 18:41Speaker 1: It's right at the boss saw a blasted. It's a
- 18:44Speaker 1: classic attack, like an addict all of the time, gotta
- 18:46Speaker 1: have it. It's right in my way as I passed,
- 18:48Speaker 1: you know, and I'm talking about all of the temptations
- 18:50Speaker 1: and all of the reasons why I wouldn't want to
- 18:52Speaker 1: go forward. But it luckily and beautifully lands in the
- 18:55Speaker 1: phrase right to the altar to cast it on the
- 18:58Speaker 1: shoulders of my Lord and all things. That's where I
- 19:00Speaker 1: find deliverance, and I believe that all people can get
- 19:03Speaker 1: a chance to be set free, because you can't make
- 19:05Speaker 1: any money making decisions with bad things on your mind,
- 19:09Speaker 1: especially like guilt, anxiety, haste, fear. Got to be clear headed.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You know. It's really a great here in your the
- 19:17Speaker 1: honesty and uh of your tone. You know, I I'm
- 19:21Speaker 1: you know, Steve Harry and I started on a radio
- 19:24Speaker 1: hip hop and RB in Houston, Houston, Los Angeles and
- 19:27Speaker 1: two thousands, and uh we've met many artists over the years.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And and so one of the key artists that we
- 19:34Speaker 1: met early on was Anthony Hamilton. Another story, tell another story.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Charlene is one of my all time great songs, one
- 19:41Speaker 1: of my favorites too. Absolutely, and then move forward and
- 19:44Speaker 1: my money making conversation platform. I've come to be introduced
- 19:48Speaker 1: to my man, Travis Green, and then my boy looked crazy,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, so to see see see, that's that's you,
- 19:56Speaker 1: my man, in the sense that y'all coming forward music
- 19:59Speaker 1: that's taking the older generation and bringing us down, you know,
- 20:02Speaker 1: bringing us down, you know, because what happens is we
- 20:06Speaker 1: got to accept the fact we can't keep listening to
- 20:08Speaker 1: old music. We can't listen to keep listening to old jays.
- 20:10Speaker 1: And it's hard not to keep listening to No. No.
- 20:14Speaker 1: This is what I'm saying, is that because they won't
- 20:17Speaker 1: allow them make any new music. You know what I'm saying. Uh,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you know, they won't, they won't, they won't. The industry
- 20:22Speaker 1: plays it like that, you know, they go, hey, you
- 20:24Speaker 1: can't make no more music. Nobody want They'll tell you
- 20:26Speaker 1: don't nobody want to listen to your music. We will
- 20:28Speaker 1: keep playing your old music, and so so when we
- 20:31Speaker 1: have tality individuals like yourself, and I mentioned some earlier,
- 20:36Speaker 1: but this interview is about you know that your journey
- 20:38Speaker 1: is important because it provides a support system for somebody
- 20:42Speaker 1: like me to continue to enjoy new music, continue to
- 20:45Speaker 1: be emotionally attached to something that can motivate me and
- 20:48Speaker 1: get me out of my bed. M I think about
- 20:52Speaker 1: um to communicate to that as well. If there's somebody
- 20:56Speaker 1: that's left out, then I don't know if you did
- 20:57Speaker 1: it did enough job in the music. So a song
- 21:00Speaker 1: on my album called Molly. On the album Molly is
- 21:03Speaker 1: called heavy Love that really I feel resonates with all
- 21:06Speaker 1: the generations just from the first note, the first flap
- 21:10Speaker 1: to the end, I feel, you know, from Age to
- 21:12Speaker 1: Age of Gold is another song and the name beautiful,
- 21:15Speaker 1: and I feel that's the same thing. And I looked
- 21:17Speaker 1: to do a lot of those, um you know, tell
- 21:19Speaker 1: those stories. It's a song on the transition of Molly name.
- 21:21Speaker 1: You should sit down for this, which is what came
- 21:24Speaker 1: out of me in the studio in London when I
- 21:26Speaker 1: got the phone call that I lost my father from
- 21:28Speaker 1: the doctor and it was a really cool moment and
- 21:32Speaker 1: I was just linking with Anthony Hamilton's on Grammy Weeks.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I went up to the c a a party has
- 21:39Speaker 1: a difficulty at the door, and he the one that
- 21:41Speaker 1: got me in. So you know, it's really cool that
- 21:43Speaker 1: you would say that, and to speak to the honesty
- 21:46Speaker 1: coming from coming from the church and coming from the
- 21:51Speaker 1: heart of love. I always looked forward to meeting a
- 21:55Speaker 1: person that probably would come at living forgot like I'm
- 22:00Speaker 1: doing now. I guess I always look to do it,
- 22:02Speaker 1: but I never saw it. I always would see people
- 22:04Speaker 1: take the responsibility to dress God up. They would take
- 22:08Speaker 1: they would think that He would be not good, so
- 22:11Speaker 1: they would put a tie on it or or put
- 22:13Speaker 1: a wash rag on the things that I would want
- 22:15Speaker 1: to see on them to be able to identify with them,
- 22:18Speaker 1: which would give God more glory. So instead of going
- 22:22Speaker 1: forward and living a double life, they categorize me as
- 22:25Speaker 1: an R and B or a hip hop or a
- 22:27Speaker 1: slash neo gospel somebody, not just gospel. Just because I
- 22:31Speaker 1: will not succumb to leading mebons of people to believe
- 22:35Speaker 1: that I live a life that I do not, or
- 22:38Speaker 1: or that I'm interested in things that I am not,
- 22:41Speaker 1: or are not interested in things. So it's not about that.
- 22:44Speaker 1: To God be the glory. And I trust that God
- 22:46Speaker 1: is big enough to get the glory, and he doesn't
- 22:48Speaker 1: need me lying to get bolt. So his goodness, if
- 22:53Speaker 1: it works on me, then it can work on other people.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And his goodness, it's gonna work on my bad He's
- 22:59Speaker 1: gonna fix my my, my hurt. He's gonna he's gonna
- 23:02Speaker 1: bring um, he's gonna heal my my pains, He's gonna
- 23:05Speaker 1: heal my mind. In order for him to be the
- 23:08Speaker 1: same instrumental guard that he is in everyone else's life,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I need to have my own version of anxiety, my
- 23:13Speaker 1: own versions of fears, my own versions of hesitations. And
- 23:17Speaker 1: once I bring them to him, and he can not
- 23:19Speaker 1: only be a good guy in my mouth, but a
- 23:21Speaker 1: good guy in my life. I can have receipts from
- 23:23Speaker 1: the time for me yielding to him recently, like I
- 23:27Speaker 1: just got off my knees about this and he answered it.
- 23:30Speaker 1: That couple with wealth and success is unstoppable. Love it,
- 23:36Speaker 1: Love it. Now you are I'm on the phone with
- 23:39Speaker 1: a man. He's influenced by Sam Cook and Oders Reading.
- 23:42Speaker 1: He's three time Grammy nominated artists, songwriting musician. And now
- 23:46Speaker 1: let's talk about the because we kind of dipped it in
- 23:48Speaker 1: in a little bit. We was talking about what Dame
- 23:49Speaker 1: James Brown was doing, and Sam Cook was down and
- 23:52Speaker 1: Rachel and many other artists use the CEO of your
- 23:55Speaker 1: own business or cares enterprises. Tell me why you started that,
- 24:00Speaker 1: what is the focus of your business. Well, I'm really
- 24:03Speaker 1: excited about Gave Food because it's a dream come true
- 24:06Speaker 1: for me. I was the young boy getting in trouble
- 24:09Speaker 1: in school for doodling with my production company symbol when
- 24:13Speaker 1: I'm supposed to be taking spelling class notes or something.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So I always was anticipating being a house that could
- 24:20Speaker 1: deliver a specific type of content to the world. As
- 24:25Speaker 1: I was coming up, I had to recognize that I
- 24:28Speaker 1: was willing to partner and move and negotiate things, and
- 24:32Speaker 1: you know where, I would be lending portions of percentages
- 24:35Speaker 1: of myself two partners and companies in order to get
- 24:38Speaker 1: an opportunity to advance. But if you offer a good portion,
- 24:43Speaker 1: it could be very difficult to get off of that
- 24:45Speaker 1: so um. I never intended on being an artist, but
- 24:51Speaker 1: I was glad to open up my mouth to be
- 24:53Speaker 1: able to show my colleagues and other artists who were
- 24:56Speaker 1: scared that it could actually happen. So I just kind
- 24:59Speaker 1: of was the brave one when the more talented people
- 25:02Speaker 1: were just more afraid. So I'm like, man, if you
- 25:04Speaker 1: just do this, and I would do it and it'll happen.
- 25:07Speaker 1: So that so bravery and or just confidence you know
- 25:12Speaker 1: that what you have as good as a is a
- 25:14Speaker 1: big deal as well. But artists like my sister and
- 25:18Speaker 1: KP and people who are come in contact with Kristen Mason,
- 25:23Speaker 1: Angelina Shari, Artists like Travis Green who who would be
- 25:28Speaker 1: coming up under the tutelage of mentoring of what we
- 25:31Speaker 1: would be doing in Savannah, Georgia, as well, John Den
- 25:34Speaker 1: mc reynolds as we would be touring in Chicago, Tasha
- 25:37Speaker 1: Cobbs who would be connected with us in the certain
- 25:39Speaker 1: of what we were doing. Dion Kipping, who would be
- 25:42Speaker 1: connected inside of the surge of for what we're doing.
- 25:44Speaker 1: He was the first person that traveled me from Savannah,
- 25:47Speaker 1: Georgia and my full band up to his surprise birthday
- 25:50Speaker 1: party in Connecticut, where I met youthful praise and and
- 25:54Speaker 1: those guys, and I just started to trickle up to
- 25:56Speaker 1: Hezekaya Walker, Donna Lawrence. My life just completely changed, you know,
- 26:00Speaker 1: just from this honesty and this walk. So I'm excited
- 26:04Speaker 1: about all of it and just really want to encourage
- 26:06Speaker 1: everybody to get to that point of openness and forwardness
- 26:10Speaker 1: inside of what they're doing. But there was only so
- 26:12Speaker 1: much that I could do because I did not earn
- 26:14Speaker 1: enough to be able to impact my own life to
- 26:18Speaker 1: be able to help anyone else. So I had to
- 26:21Speaker 1: find out where the money was going, Why was I
- 26:24Speaker 1: valuable to companies, How did I accumulate wealth? And could
- 26:28Speaker 1: I apply that to my own self. Once I recognized
- 26:32Speaker 1: that I could, I needed to attain ownership a game
- 26:35Speaker 1: of what it was that was achieving. Lending was for
- 26:37Speaker 1: me clear the name, you know. Now, I put it
- 26:40Speaker 1: inside of a house that houses k approved. I will
- 26:44Speaker 1: be flagshipping as money music. But it's not about me.
- 26:47Speaker 1: It's proof that we can do it. And there's a
- 26:49Speaker 1: way that my colleagues and partners and artists and creators
- 26:53Speaker 1: can come that we can kind of shortcut a lot
- 26:56Speaker 1: of the roundabout ways of searching for the right place.
- 26:59Speaker 1: If it's have been beautiful, inspired by God, spirit breathed,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and you have a plan, we can do something with it.
- 27:09Speaker 1: And that's why I built k Approved to be able
- 27:12Speaker 1: to to create another developmental area where people could be
- 27:17Speaker 1: UH recorded, put out, have an opportunity to make mistakes
- 27:24Speaker 1: in the community of people of love that loved them,
- 27:27Speaker 1: and we can create successful UH artists that do different
- 27:31Speaker 1: types of music, creators that do different types of visuals,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and photographers who shoot different types of pictures. I can't
- 27:40Speaker 1: change the culture if I can't influence it, and I
- 27:42Speaker 1: needed to influence it from my house that I owned. Awesome.
- 27:46Speaker 1: All I know is this my friend. You're special. I
- 27:50Speaker 1: like you, said ra Sean got I gotta do my homework.
- 27:52Speaker 1: I gotta go back to Molly Is. I gotta listen
- 27:55Speaker 1: to Beautiful, Gotta listen to Heavy Love, Gotta listen to
- 27:57Speaker 1: Walking Shoes, gotta listen to A Gotta listened to Johnny
- 28:01Speaker 1: and Donna. I gotta listen to I Believe because what
- 28:04Speaker 1: you will not do to me? Molly, Mr Molly Music,
- 28:08Speaker 1: It's come on my show next time, and I can't
- 28:11Speaker 1: break down some lyrics to you during the end, if
- 28:13Speaker 1: you let you know I believe in you, and I
- 28:17Speaker 1: let you know how much I believe in you. I
- 28:19Speaker 1: said some names to you by artists that you just
- 28:21Speaker 1: threw back at me. So I know that's how I
- 28:23Speaker 1: know that it was right there in the same flow.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Let go is out all the digital streams, Molly music,
- 28:31Speaker 1: my man, Uh call you my nephew, young and nephew.
