- 0:00Speaker 1: A three party meeting maybe as soon as we can,
- 0:05Speaker 1: and I have a feeling you and President Putin are
- 0:07Speaker 1: going to work something out. Ultimately, this is a decision
- 0:10Speaker 1: that can only be made by President Zelensky and by
- 0:13Speaker 1: the people of Ukraine working also together in agreement with
- 0:17Speaker 1: President Putin.
- 0:18Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Good Tuesday morning. It's a very important episode of the
- 0:25Speaker 3: forty seven Morning Update and it deals with the major
- 0:27Speaker 3: meeting at the White House. But we break it down
- 0:30Speaker 3: to three different aspects. First up, the media lied to
- 0:33Speaker 3: you about Donald Trump, claiming he was played by Vladimir
- 0:37Speaker 3: Putin and that he would not be able to get
- 0:39Speaker 3: as closer a piece between Ukraine and Russia. Well, now
- 0:42Speaker 3: we know just how much they hate Donald Trump, and
- 0:45Speaker 3: they don't care who's dying as long as he, they
- 0:48Speaker 3: can say, is a failure. The second part of the
- 0:51Speaker 3: story is the security guarantees to get a piece deal.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Zelenski now saying he feels much more comfortable with moving
- 0:58Speaker 3: forward because the security guarantees from the US and Western allies.
- 1:03Speaker 3: So what exactly does that mean? I'll explain it to you.
- 1:07Speaker 3: And finally, Zelensky in his own words, are we actually
- 1:11Speaker 3: closer to a piece agreement? Well, I want you to
- 1:14Speaker 3: hear what Zelensky had to say, and is very different
- 1:17Speaker 3: than the last meeting that Zelensky had with Trump in
- 1:19Speaker 3: the Oval Office, and there's a very good chance we
- 1:22Speaker 3: could be weeks away from a real peace agreement. It's
- 1:26Speaker 3: a forty seven morning update and it starts right now.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Story number one, the media lied to you.
- 1:32Speaker 3: They said that Donald Trump was played by Vladimir Putin.
- 1:35Speaker 3: They said there was no way that President Trump could
- 1:37Speaker 3: ever get any closer to a piece deal. They said
- 1:40Speaker 3: that the President was just doing this for the cameras
- 1:43Speaker 3: and that world leaders wouldn't show up. Well, the media
- 1:46Speaker 3: lied to you about all of that, and the Democratic Party.
- 1:49Speaker 3: So what actually happened at the White House? It was historic.
- 1:53Speaker 3: This meeting marked a significant improvement in tone compared to
- 1:58Speaker 3: their previous February and count It was much more cordial, collaborative.
- 2:02Speaker 4: And upbeat.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Zelensky even put it this way, saying he had a
- 2:06Speaker 3: very good conversation with President Trump. We also now know
- 2:11Speaker 3: about what the framework could look like and what America's
- 2:14Speaker 3: involvement will be with a peace deal. Trump expressed support
- 2:17Speaker 3: for strong NATO style security guarantees for Ukraine, a major
- 2:23Speaker 3: diplomatic step forward. He also indicated the US could back
- 2:27Speaker 3: a European led force to help uphold any future peace agreement.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Zelensky also welcome quote this strong signal, as he described it,
- 2:37Speaker 3: now momentum towards peace, and the talks also were now
- 2:40Speaker 3: being told included Vladimir Putin. That brings us to the
- 2:44Speaker 3: biggest part of this story. President Trump confirmed reports that
- 2:48Speaker 3: he did in fact call the Russian President Putin during
- 2:52Speaker 3: his meeting with European leaders, and said that a quote
- 2:55Speaker 3: sit down between Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky to end
- 2:59Speaker 3: the war is being arranged as we speak now. It
- 3:02Speaker 3: was a day full of major piece talks with leaders
- 3:05Speaker 3: in the United Kingdom, the European Union, NATO, Ukraine, and
- 3:09Speaker 3: President Trump felt like it was going so well he
- 3:12Speaker 3: personally broke off to call Moscow to arrange bilateral meetings
- 3:16Speaker 3: between Putin and Zelensky and ultimately to set up a
- 3:20Speaker 3: three way meeting in which he will act as a
- 3:22Speaker 3: mediator for a final peace agreement. Yes, the media is
- 3:26Speaker 3: telling you this is somehow a failure. Donald Trump also
- 3:29Speaker 3: went on true social saying this quote. At the conclusion
- 3:33Speaker 3: of the meetings, I called President Putin and began the
- 3:36Speaker 3: arrangements for a meeting, had a location to be determined
- 3:39Speaker 3: between President Putin President Zelenski, and after that meeting takes place,
- 3:43Speaker 3: we will have another meeting. It will be the two
- 3:46Speaker 3: presidents plus myself. The President went on to say, again,
- 3:49Speaker 3: this was a very good early step for a war
- 3:52Speaker 3: that has been going on for almost four years. Vice
- 3:55Speaker 3: President j d Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in
- 3:58Speaker 3: Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are coordinating with Russia and Ukraine.
- 4:03Speaker 3: So if you look at what actually happened, Trump is
- 4:06Speaker 3: pledging to not only arrange a direct meeting between Zelensky
- 4:09Speaker 3: and Putin that the prior administration couldn't have dreamed of,
- 4:12Speaker 3: but then following it up with a summit for the
- 4:15Speaker 3: three countries to get in the room. We also know
- 4:18Speaker 3: there was broad diplomatic support and European unity on everything
- 4:24Speaker 3: that was discussed. The European leaders, including McCrone, Starmer and
- 4:29Speaker 3: many others participated actively signaling collective support for Ukraine and
- 4:34Speaker 3: endorsement of the meeting's direction. Zelensky brought a heartfelt letter
- 4:39Speaker 3: from First Lady Milania Trump. Zelenski also brought a heartfelt
- 4:44Speaker 3: letter for First Lady Milania Trump. Why it was in
- 4:47Speaker 3: response to her previous note to Vladimir Putin calling for
- 4:51Speaker 3: peace to protect children. This exchange also underscores the human
- 4:56Speaker 3: side of diplomacy. Now you look at all of the
- 5:00Speaker 3: and the takeaway is pretty clear. The President of United
- 5:03Speaker 3: States of America got the people that needed to be
- 5:06Speaker 3: in the room in the room, something that no one
- 5:09Speaker 3: else had been able to do for the last three years.
- 5:11Speaker 3: That's also exactly what European leaders had to say about
- 5:15Speaker 3: it as well, and that includes President Trump. Here's what
- 5:19Speaker 3: he had to say to the world and also to Zelensky.
- 5:22Speaker 1: We're going to try and get a three party meeting
- 5:26Speaker 1: maybe as soon as we can, and have a feeling
- 5:28Speaker 1: you and President Putin are going to work something out. Ultimately,
- 5:32Speaker 1: this is a decision that can only be made by
- 5:34Speaker 1: President Zelensky and by the people of Ukraine working also
- 5:39Speaker 1: together in agreement with President Putin.
- 5:41Speaker 3: It's only agreement that can come together with the men
- 5:44Speaker 3: that he's now speaking with, communicating with and working towards
- 5:48Speaker 3: a peace agreement. And if you think the rest of
- 5:51Speaker 3: the world doesn't respect Donald Trump. That's what the media
- 5:54Speaker 3: would want you to believe. Well, the world leaders were
- 5:56Speaker 3: basically calling out the media. And here's what the Italian
- 6:00Speaker 3: Prime Minister had to say about the entire meeting. Listen carefully.
- 6:05Speaker 5: Well, thank you very much Donald mister President for hosting
- 6:08Speaker 5: us today in this important meeting. And I think it
- 6:11Speaker 5: is an important day, a new phase after three years
- 6:15Speaker 5: and half that we didn't see any kind of sign
- 6:19Speaker 5: from the Russian side that there was a willing for dialogue.
- 6:23Speaker 5: So something is changing. Something has changed thanks to you,
- 6:27Speaker 5: thanks also to the starling in the battlefield, which was
- 6:32Speaker 5: achieved with the bravery of Ukrainians and with the unity
- 6:37Speaker 5: that we all provided to Ukraine. And the reason why
- 6:40Speaker 5: I mentioned it is that we also have to remind
- 6:43Speaker 5: that if we want to reach peace and if we
- 6:46Speaker 5: want to guarantee justice, we have to do it united.
- 6:51Speaker 5: So that's why it's a very good day, the one
- 6:56Speaker 5: we are in. You can obviously count to Italy as
- 6:59Speaker 5: it was for the beginning. We are on the side
- 7:01Speaker 5: of Ukraine and we do absolutely support your efforts towards peace.
- 7:09Speaker 5: We will talk about many important topics. The first one
- 7:14Speaker 5: is security guarantees, how to be sure that it won't
- 7:17Speaker 5: happen again, which is the precondition of every kind of peace.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I'm happy that we will discuss about that. I'm happy
- 7:24Speaker 5: that we will begin from a proposal which is the
- 7:27Speaker 5: let's say Article five model, which was Italian at the beginning.
- 7:34Speaker 5: So we are always ready to bring our proposals for
- 7:38Speaker 5: peace for dialogue. It's something we have to build together
- 7:42Speaker 5: to guarantee peace and to defend the security of our nation.
- 7:45Speaker 5: So thank you, sir President for hosting us.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Thank you very much, yous in the Italian primeister. For
- 7:52Speaker 3: three years we haven't seen any willingness from Russia for dialogue.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Something has changed thanks to you.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So remember when the media to spend this as some
- 8:01Speaker 3: sort of crazy failure, this is what world leaders are
- 8:04Speaker 3: actually saying.
- 8:05Speaker 4: Next story number two.
- 8:06Speaker 3: One of the major things that will allow for a
- 8:09Speaker 3: peace agreement to happen when it comes to Ukraine's perspective,
- 8:13Speaker 3: is the emergence of a NATO style security guarantee. President
- 8:17Speaker 3: Trump floated the idea of extending NATO style protections to Ukraine,
- 8:21Speaker 3: though he stopped short of providing concrete details yet. His
- 8:24Speaker 3: Special Envoy Steve Witkoff mentioned that guarantees could mirror Article five.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Those specifics remain unidentified. This could involve US military presence
- 8:35Speaker 3: or economic deterrence against Russia, with European nations acting as
- 8:39Speaker 3: the quote first line of defense. This is why we
- 8:43Speaker 3: are getting closer to a peace agreement. And the US
- 8:46Speaker 3: also signaled an increase role in guaranteed coordination. Zelenski emphasized
- 8:51Speaker 3: that the US would not just offer verbal support, but
- 8:55Speaker 3: would be actively involved in coordinating and participating in security
- 8:58Speaker 3: guarantees for Ukraine, a development Ukraine regards is quote a
- 9:02Speaker 3: major step towards peace.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Now.
- 9:05Speaker 3: The President also had this to say at the meeting.
- 9:08Speaker 1: The Alaska summit reinforced my belief that while difficult, pieces
- 9:12Speaker 1: within reach, and I believe that in a very significant step,
- 9:15Speaker 1: President Putin agreed that Russia would accept security guarantees for Ukraine.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And this is one of the key points that we
- 9:22Speaker 1: need to consider, and we're going to be considering that
- 9:25Speaker 1: at the table also, like who will do what. Essentially,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I'm optimistic that collectively we can reach an agreement that
- 9:32Speaker 1: would deter any future aggression against Ukraine, and I actually
- 9:36Speaker 1: think there won't be I think that's even overrated, largely overrated,
- 9:40Speaker 1: but we're going to find out. And I think that
- 9:42Speaker 1: the European nations are going to take a lot of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the burden. We're going to help them and we're going
- 9:47Speaker 1: to make it very secure. We also need to discuss
- 9:50Speaker 1: the possible exchanges of territory taken into consideration the current
- 9:55Speaker 1: line of contact that means the war zone. The warl
- 10:02Speaker 1: pretty obvious, very sad actually to look at them and
- 10:05Speaker 1: negotiating positions. President Putin. Also, you have President of Ukraine
- 10:11Speaker 1: who is you just met a little while ago, and
- 10:14Speaker 1: we're going to try and get a three party meeting
- 10:18Speaker 1: maybe as soon as we can. And I have a
- 10:20Speaker 1: feeling you and President Putin are going to work something out. Ultimately,
- 10:24Speaker 1: this is a decision that can only be made by
- 10:27Speaker 1: President Zelenski and by the people of Ukraine working also
- 10:31Speaker 1: together in agreement with President Putin, and I just think
- 10:34Speaker 1: that's very good things are going to come of it.
- 10:37Speaker 4: So I hope we have a.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Good meeting, and if we can have a good meeting,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I'll set up a meeting with President Putin, and if
- 10:43Speaker 1: you'd like, I'll go to that meeting. And not that
- 10:46Speaker 1: I want to do that but I will do that
- 10:48Speaker 1: because we want to save a lot of people from dying.
- 10:51Speaker 1: A lot of people are dying and we got to
- 10:52Speaker 1: save them.
- 10:53Speaker 3: It's clear the President wants to save lives. But we
- 10:55Speaker 3: also now know that the summit saw a strong sense
- 10:58Speaker 3: of Western unity. Leaders like McCrone, Mertz and many others
- 11:03Speaker 3: advocated for durable security measures that would protect Ukraine without
- 11:08Speaker 3: rewarding aggression. France emphasize that these guarantees should be safeguards,
- 11:14Speaker 3: safeguards at the quote whole of the European continent. They
- 11:18Speaker 3: obviously are concerned about Vladimir Putin and aggression as well.
- 11:22Speaker 3: And that's exactly why this meeting was so vitally important
- 11:26Speaker 3: for national security around the world. And thanks to Donald Trump,
- 11:30Speaker 3: we're that much closer.
- 11:31Speaker 4: And here is story number three.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Ultimately, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump,
- 11:35Speaker 3: knows one thing. This piece deal is not going to
- 11:38Speaker 3: be done without Vladimir Putin agreeing to it and also
- 11:41Speaker 3: Zelensky agreeing to it. So the question is coming out
- 11:45Speaker 3: of this meeting at the White House, the one on
- 11:48Speaker 3: one was Zelensky and then the meeting with all of
- 11:50Speaker 3: the world leaders, what was Zelensky's mindset. Does he want
- 11:55Speaker 3: peace or does he want this three plus year ward
- 11:58Speaker 3: to continue?
- 11:59Speaker 4: I want you know.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Listen to Zelenski in its own words at the White House.
- 12:03Speaker 3: This is at the very end of the day after
- 12:06Speaker 3: the meetings had taken place, and here is what he
- 12:09Speaker 3: said to close it all out.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Thank you so much.
- 12:11Speaker 6: I can speak without microphone. Thank you too much. I
- 12:16Speaker 6: think that we had a very good conversation with President Trump,
- 12:19Speaker 6: very good and it really was the best one, or sorry,
- 12:23Speaker 6: maybe the best one will be in the future, but
- 12:26Speaker 6: it was really good and we spoke about very sensitive points.
- 12:31Speaker 6: The first one is security guarantees. And we are very
- 12:34Speaker 6: happy with President that all the leaders are here. And
- 12:37Speaker 6: the security in Ukraine depends on the United States and
- 12:41Speaker 6: on you and on those leaders who are with us
- 12:45Speaker 6: in our hearts. They have been online before yesterday and etc.
- 12:49Speaker 6: So a lot of countries on the side of Ukraine,
- 12:53Speaker 6: our people and all of us want to finish this word.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Stop so Prussia and stop this war.
- 12:58Speaker 6: We spoke about it, and we will speak more about
- 13:00Speaker 6: security guarantees. This is very important that the United States
- 13:04Speaker 6: gives such strong signal and is ready for security guarantees.
- 13:09Speaker 6: The second point or maybe the first humanitarian direction where
- 13:13Speaker 6: important to change all the prisoners. And I think that
- 13:16Speaker 6: President will help. And I was very thankful to your
- 13:20Speaker 6: wife again, mister President for the letter about our abductive children.
- 13:25Speaker 6: And I hope that really it can be historic le
- 13:30Speaker 6: for the people to bring kids back to the families
- 13:35Speaker 6: and be happy get the families. This is so so
- 13:39Speaker 6: important and I'm happy that we discussed it this track
- 13:42Speaker 6: with the President Trump, and I hope that we will
- 13:45Speaker 6: find decisions. And then what is very important that all
- 13:51Speaker 6: the sensitive things territorial and etc. We we will discuss
- 13:56Speaker 6: on the level of leaders during trilateral meeting and President
- 14:00Speaker 6: Trump will try to organize such meeting. And he said
- 14:06Speaker 6: that he will come or not come. Ukraine will be
- 14:09Speaker 6: happy if if you, if you, if you will be there.
- 14:14Speaker 6: Thank you. And I think this is very important. Yes,
- 14:17Speaker 6: so security guarantees bring kids back and all our people
- 14:22Speaker 6: not only warriors first of all warriors and all the civilians, journalists,
- 14:26Speaker 6: a lot of people in prison, so we need them
- 14:30Speaker 6: back and guarantees which will.
- 14:33Speaker 4: Work for the years. We spoke about it and I showed.
- 14:37Speaker 6: President a lot of details on the battlefield on the map.
- 14:41Speaker 6: Thank you so much. Thank you for the map, by
- 14:43Speaker 6: the way, it was great. I'm thinking how to take
- 14:47Speaker 6: it back.
- 14:48Speaker 4: We'll get John No.
- 14:49Speaker 6: No. I think that we had constructive, specific meeting and
- 14:54Speaker 6: I'm very thankful to all the all the leaders who
- 14:57Speaker 6: are here, and you help a lot, and so we're
- 15:01Speaker 6: happy that we have such peak unity today.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Thank you, mister Press, Thank you very much.
- 15:08Speaker 1: President. I think you'll see that President Putin really would
- 15:10Speaker 1: like to do something. Also, I think when we set
- 15:13Speaker 1: that up, when we do, I think it's going to
- 15:16Speaker 1: be when not if, I think you're going to see
- 15:18Speaker 1: some very really positive moves.
- 15:21Speaker 3: There's a couple of takeaways from what you just heard.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Number One, the media they hate that President Trump is
- 15:28Speaker 3: bringing these two countries closer to a piece agreement. They
- 15:31Speaker 3: hate that they cannot continue to lie to you claiming
- 15:34Speaker 3: that Vladimir Putin played Donald Trump. They hate the fact
- 15:38Speaker 3: that Donald Trump is respected by all of these world
- 15:41Speaker 3: leaders who are saying to him, thank you, and we've
- 15:44Speaker 3: never been closer in the last three years. And they
- 15:47Speaker 3: would rather Donald Trump be a failure. The Democratic Party
- 15:50Speaker 3: and the media then stop the killing of so many
- 15:54Speaker 3: people in Ukraine and in Russia.
- 15:57Speaker 4: Let that sink in.
- 15:58Speaker 3: That is what President Trump is up against, and that's
- 16:01Speaker 3: what many conservatives are up against every single day by
- 16:04Speaker 3: the people in our media and the Democratic Party in America.
