- 0:04Hello and welcome to two girls in the pot.
- 0:05I'm Sharon, I'm Christy. Welcome everyone always excited
- 0:11to do our podcast. You know, we've kind of been
- 0:14busy with the podcast, you know, for those of you who listen and
- 0:17follow we, so greatly, appreciate you.
- 0:20But you'll also notice that we've had a lot of interviews
- 0:23and stuff, but today, we're just going to kinda just going to be
- 0:26Christy and I kind of, yeah. Got a little distracted here by
- 0:34the puppy. Oh my goodness.
- 0:37You know they're wonderful to have, but man, are they, is she
- 0:40a handful. It's been such a busy time for
- 0:44us part because we were doing a lot of the interviews with the
- 0:46lot of amazing. Amazing people.
- 0:48And we are just so grateful for everybody who gets on our
- 0:51podcast shares their story and you know, one of the things we
- 0:55did this last weekend was we sponsored Colorado Springs,
- 0:58pridefest, Yeah. Pikes Peak Pride, yes.
- 1:02So that was a first for us and it was a little scary and
- 1:05intimidating if we're going to be honest.
- 1:07Yeah, two days, two full days and had a booth there passed out
- 1:12a lot of flyers and a lot of little freebies and had a really
- 1:16good time. Then we've actually were in the
- 1:19parade as well. Yeah.
- 1:21Which I want you all to know is. So outside of our comfort zone
- 1:25that was definitely stepping out of her comfort zone.
- 1:27I think what, you know, one of the things is often You know,
- 1:30my, the big thing about what we talked about here is, is taking
- 1:33those risks stepping outside that comfort zone, kind of
- 1:37exploring what's out there? And and how we do it.
- 1:39And, you know, one of the things that I think is important for us
- 1:42on our podcast is that we really do embrace all kinds of
- 1:46diversity. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:48And I think we really try to emulate a lot of the things that
- 1:52we talked about. I mean, everything is practice
- 1:55and definitely stepping outside. The comfort zone does require
- 1:58practice And I think though once you do you realize how many
- 2:03miraculous things start to happen and open up for you?
- 2:06And I really feel like that doing Pride was that's what it
- 2:11was for us. I mean I really feel like that
- 2:14it was a good and rewarding experience we met.
- 2:18So many amazing people and we had the help of so many amazing
- 2:24people as well. So a shout out to them to Tim
- 2:28and Rita and Danny and Liliana Sarah Sandra.
- 2:32They really helped us to pull this all together and together,
- 2:37make it a success. Yeah.
- 2:39There was a little bit of anxiety for you.
- 2:41Yeah. Definitely.
- 2:43I feel like that at first even after we got there and got set
- 2:47up and everything, I my body started to tense up so much, I'm
- 2:52I started getting a backache, it started kind of turning into a
- 2:55headache. It was, and I think that we
- 2:58don't even realize it, but Stuff like that.
- 3:00And something that was even, you know, supposed to be such a
- 3:03positive, which was at the beginning, because I was so
- 3:07outside my comfort zone. I really it started to impact me
- 3:10even physically. And I think that people don't
- 3:12realize that when you start to do something like that and how
- 3:16it can have that kind of impact. And she kept telling me, well,
- 3:20you got to go talk to these people.
- 3:21They're like, oh God, no, it's don't make me, you know, some
- 3:24people, I'm really I love what I do is in my profession.
- 3:28I love being a therapist, I love that one.
- 3:29I'm one and even small group stuff but, you know, you get a
- 3:32whole bunch of people and that's outside of my element.
- 3:36If I'm doing a presentation, that's different.
- 3:38I know the material, blah, blah, blah, you know, you just go
- 3:40present it. But when you're doing this and
- 3:42it's kind of on the Fly and well for one thing, when your energy
- 3:46up, I feel like it's really stepping outside your comfort
- 3:49zone sometimes when you really have to, you're promoting
- 3:52yourself. Oh, you know, that's a really
- 3:54good point because I think one of the things, you know, in when
- 3:57I talk to people one of the things They will struggle with
- 4:01was is how do I promote myself without coming off?
- 4:04Arrogant or questioning? Well, why would anybody want to
- 4:07listen to me? Or why would anybody want to
- 4:09look at my are I'm not that good, you know, I think all of
- 4:13those things kind of come into play.
- 4:14So then it becomes harder to promote yourself in that aspect.
- 4:19Do you know what I mean? Yeah, for sure.
- 4:21I know that that was it for me. I was thinking this is something
- 4:25that we do and you would think you know how you were saying if
- 4:28you know the material you're going up there and regurgitating
- 4:31when it's about you and something you're doing and you
- 4:36got to believe in yourself, wholeheartedly to be able to go
- 4:40out and promote yourself and not.
- 4:42Wait, absolutely. And it makes you feel really
- 4:45vulnerable at first. I think it does and I think one
- 4:48of the things is that this is something that we're very proud
- 4:52of our podcast. And I think we really want
- 4:55people to be connected to it and to like it.
- 4:59Yeah. Well as anybody would I have to
- 5:02say to I appreciate and I'm so grateful for everybody that
- 5:06approached us that had already even heard of the podcast that
- 5:10had already been you know, even just telling us that it's a
- 5:13suggested one for me. I haven't listened yet but I'm
- 5:16going to check it out. We appreciate that.
- 5:18So much the shout out to the lady who came over here, doing
- 5:22the parade. Yes, come out and say that she
- 5:26listen to our podcast already we.
- 5:28So appreciate you. Thank Thank you.
- 5:30Yeah. For that support because it is
- 5:32important. And I think what people are
- 5:34going on these Ventures, you know that are giving something
- 5:37to the community or whatever. There's always that feeling.
- 5:40Or maybe fear of what? If I'm not doing it correctly,
- 5:45or what if, what if they're not hearing the message, the way, I
- 5:47am trying to give the message. And so, that makes it difficult
- 5:52as well? Hmm, exactly.
- 5:55I think there's such a I guess. I think there's such thing.
- 6:00That fear factor of having an idea in your head and how you
- 6:06conceptualize something. And then when you put it, when
- 6:10you speak it out, do people hear what your conceptualizing
- 6:15sometimes? Not that I think though?
- 6:17I think the important thing is when we do these podcasts for
- 6:20everybody, is that how we conceptualize?
- 6:22It is one way but however, you're interpreting it, if it
- 6:27brings something to you, I guess that's all that really matters.
- 6:30And when you think about it in that fashion, you know what I
- 6:32mean? Because we talked about that
- 6:33too. When we read something you know
- 6:35what do you or we hear a song or we watch him, it doesn't matter
- 6:38what it is. Each one has their idea but
- 6:41you're locked in say I wonder what somebody is thinking when
- 6:43they wrote that. Oh yeah, definitely sometimes
- 6:46songs sometimes with movies, I really wonder what their
- 6:49perception was. You know, when they put that out
- 6:52there and I hope that especially with our podcast.
- 6:56We I feel like we always try to come from a genuine place I was
- 7:00wanting people to be the best that they can be and to reach
- 7:05their goals. And I think if you're coming
- 7:07from with that pure intention, that good things will come out
- 7:11of it. But yes, everybody has their own
- 7:13perception of things and granted, we cover a lot, a lot
- 7:17of topics. If anybody encountered us while
- 7:20we were there, we, you know, we were saying how many different
- 7:24things that we do cover and how many different kind of people we
- 7:26have on? So not every single episode
- 7:29we'll probably Probably resonate music, everyone.
- 7:32Yeah, but I think the other thing that's really interesting
- 7:35and or is important to us is what the things we realized is
- 7:39that every single human being has a story everything from the
- 7:42beginning from their birth to where they are.
- 7:44At that moment whether you're two years older 20 or 80, it
- 7:48doesn't matter. You have a story and I think
- 7:51that's what's important to us is the story because I tell people,
- 7:54you know, people sit there and say, oh my God, you're covering
- 7:56Bigfoot. But the thing is, is if you got
- 7:58to listen because it's the Sorry, it's the journey.
- 8:03This is our journey and once again it's really pushed us are
- 8:08motivated us. I don't know what shit is
- 8:09sometimes. I feel like a bush to step
- 8:11outside of that comfort zone to do those things that are scary
- 8:17and as Jen. And Taro says, if it scares you
- 8:22do it, that's the time to act because the greatest things can
- 8:28come out of that because As your, you know, a lot of times
- 8:31we keep ourselves in a box and it prohibits us from doing so
- 8:34many things. So many things that we would
- 8:37actually enjoy if we would give ourselves the opportunity
- 8:40because one of these, we both said is, we did not realize how
- 8:42much we were able to enjoy the parade.
- 8:44But the build-up to the parade in that.
- 8:46Oh no, it was like, oh my goodness.
- 8:48Is this ever going to happen? Are we where we're supposed to
- 8:51be? I need and also then having an
- 8:53appreciation for the people who coordinate this because it feels
- 8:57chaotic but it comes off. They know what they're doing.
- 8:59They An amazing job. And it was a great time shout
- 9:04out to Holly because that was a, that's, I would think organizing
- 9:08a parade like that would be a major undertaking and I know
- 9:12like the people in for there were supposed to be lined up in
- 9:15front of us didn't even show and that.
- 9:16So you have that came in late so that they just they figured it
- 9:20out. So you know.
- 9:21But you know I mean talk about anxiety provoking, right?
- 9:24I would think so. And then you know you you don't
- 9:27want to get to a place when doing Something that you get to
- 9:31the place where you're thinking so much about it that it turns
- 9:34to this place of anxiety and worry.
- 9:37Right, you know, and how do you kind of to keep from going to
- 9:40that place waking up the middle? Not, oh, no.
- 9:43The I do, you know, and all that other stuff, you know, how do
- 9:45you do that? Well, you know, one of the way I
- 9:47think sometimes is and what we do, I think, is we really have
- 9:51those conversations where we're doing more of that critical
- 9:53thinking, we're doing more of that organizational stuff,
- 9:58because when we start to do that, I find that as that goes
- 10:02up anxiety, goes down because it's almost like you didn't have
- 10:05a plan or something, I don't know.
- 10:06Well, exactly, I think that that's what goes into critical
- 10:10thinking. I mean talking about the
- 10:12difference between that there's, you know, people that have their
- 10:16mind going all the time. With worry, worry is not an act
- 10:21of being able to change anything and all it does is, you know,
- 10:26just eat at you. So but if you're doing critical,
- 10:30Uncle thinking you're actually coming up with Solutions your
- 10:33planning and, and communication. Definitely goes into that.
- 10:37Well, and I think that's the thing, you know, I toes tell my
- 10:40clients. When you worry, and you have
- 10:42that, all those thoughts in your head, you're like that hamster
- 10:44on the wheel, the Hampshire think that they've done a lot
- 10:47and they're going a lot of places but they're not.
- 10:49They're staying stuck in one spot, just spinning.
- 10:51And always tell people to stop that.
- 10:53Get off the wheel, going to thinking, going to planning, go
- 10:57into all of those things are going to help you get Point.
- 11:00A to point B. Yes, we'll have those moments.
- 11:03And I think we had a few of those moments with this whole
- 11:05first off we thought Pride was stolen July.
- 11:07And then we said we said yes. And I was like, oh my God,
- 11:10that's June 10th and 11th, what do we have time?
- 11:12We don't have our t-shirts made and then it was like all of
- 11:15these things started to. But you have that moment of oh
- 11:19my God Panic. Hmm and then it's like we just
- 11:23started talking about it. We started saying okay if we
- 11:25can't get this done, what can we do here?
- 11:27Yeah, yeah, communication. Was a really big thing and I
- 11:31feel like that it helps you to step beyond that place of fear.
- 11:36And actually take the action needed, it just made me have a
- 11:39memory of our wedding when we get all of our tuxedos in our
- 11:43dresses. They're okay.
- 11:47And the one who standing up with me comes and the pants.
- 11:53Don't fit. Yeah.
- 11:54But they're too short and where they're like, what do you mean
- 11:58we're getting married. What 40 minutes and what do you
- 12:01mean your pants? And you have that moment where
- 12:03everyone Panic everything. And it's like, oh my God, we're
- 12:06going to have somebody with big ol high waters.
- 12:08They were Beyond, I'm up. And then we, but we had a stuff
- 12:12for memory never quality. We do this.
- 12:14So we ended up swapping. Yes, I'm thank goodness.
- 12:18One of the other ladies was shorter, so the tuxedo fit her,
- 12:22perfect. The dress went to mind, and we
- 12:25worked it out. But that moment of panic of
- 12:28like, oh my God, we have What 125, how many other people out
- 12:32there and we don't even have people clothes that fits.
- 12:36That works really good when you have, you know, all six females
- 12:40and they don't mind wearing the tux or the dress up that we
- 12:43really good, dude. But yet was that moment of pain
- 12:47and had we stayed in that, it would have been a fiasco, right?
- 12:50We might not have even thought of that as a solution.
- 12:53Yes. But being able to sit there and
- 12:55say, oh my gosh, what can we do here?
- 12:56And then it was like, and thanks to Mars.
- 13:00Mary Jane for helping us out with that.
- 13:01Yeah. Because it was like, oh, but
- 13:04once again, those situations are going to come up, you can stay
- 13:09in that place of worry in your right.
- 13:11That worry, doesn't. It's not an action, it feels
- 13:14like an action but it's really not an action.
- 13:18Whereas when you sit there and say, you know, so I work with
- 13:22this with my clients, a lot, pause think what is it even if
- 13:27it's communication and they get where, They're getting
- 13:30tongue-tied because their anxiety is going up or
- 13:32whatever's have-nots a pause, take a breath.
- 13:36What is it? You feel the other person has to
- 13:39hear. What is that message?
- 13:41Only speak, the message, remove the emotion.
- 13:46And that's kind of through this whole thing is one of the things
- 13:49that we've learned is, how do you remove that emotion in order
- 13:52to exactly, I feel like for critical thinking that is one of
- 13:57the key things is having Emotional intelligence being
- 14:01able to step away from the situation emotionally, take that
- 14:07emotional charge out of it. Exactly.
- 14:10I think the thing is, is we can encounter that very quickly.
- 14:14It can happen in an instant, you know, can be at work.
- 14:16It could be in a conversation with the room that you're in a
- 14:18relationship, you're having. It could be with strange and
- 14:20whatever that emotion starts to override.
- 14:24Yeah, always loved that too. When people in parking lots,
- 14:28somebody goes and takes the parking spot.
- 14:29Not what would they do? That was my spot.
- 14:32Like they knew that that is that Dan?
- 14:35All this emotion comes up and then that's why we have all of
- 14:37these things where people get angry in and act out and do all
- 14:41these things because you're not critically thinking in the grand
- 14:44scheme of things that Park spot really is not yours, probably
- 14:50all guilty of it like Snapped and you know people just lose
- 14:54it, really? It's like, what what are you
- 14:58doing? You know, and I think that's the
- 15:00thing because we're so used to that emotion driving so much of
- 15:04what we do. Yeah.
- 15:06You know that we're not teaching that emotional talented, we're
- 15:09not teaching when to pull that emotion.
- 15:11Ian, not teaching the pause to be able to get to the place
- 15:16where you can do critical thinking about a situation, all
- 15:19exactly. And, you know, I mean, every
- 15:20once while will there's times where we'll get kind of wound
- 15:24up, you know, and then it takes, you know, if you're wound up on
- 15:26there, like I'll be there. Like, what are you doing?
- 15:29Well, or you'll Be there. Like, why are you upset about
- 15:31that? Or why is that bothering you
- 15:33all? We have to do is this something
- 15:34like, oh, you could have told me that five minutes ago.
- 15:37And I think he really comes through, you know, like, when
- 15:40you and I are talking about situations that, you know,
- 15:43obviously are out of our control, it's tough in society
- 15:46things that we feel strongly about we wish were different for
- 15:50people, you know. But the thing is that none of
- 15:53that can change without it, changing on a personal level.
- 15:57First each one of us making those changes Changes within
- 16:00ourselves is what creates the change in society.
- 16:04Well, you know, it's interesting that you say that because one of
- 16:07the things is, when I have clients in their escalated
- 16:09saying something going on in the world or the United States, or
- 16:11in their Community or whatever. Once again, that's outside of
- 16:14their control. I will tell them that I'll say,
- 16:16but that's talk about what being control.
- 16:19Do you have the ability to empower?
- 16:20Somebody else about it, starts in your home, and then from your
- 16:24home at your neighborhood, then your you spread out the
- 16:26community, then it gets bigger and bigger and bigger, but that
- 16:29is true. But if I am stuck in a place of
- 16:32worry about what's going on in society or whatever, if we use
- 16:35that for an example, if I'm always hiding with that anxiety
- 16:39about, oh my gosh, there's all this crime, there's all this
- 16:41this and there's all this, this and that.
- 16:43So my solution to watch as well go out of that house.
- 16:46That's a good solution. Well, no, it's not because now
- 16:49you stop living because of what's external to you that you
- 16:52have no control over. You know, I mean in and I'll ask
- 16:56my clients sometimes well. Okay, and your community, has
- 16:59there been any crime? Recently.
- 17:00Well no at your local grocery store that you go to that three
- 17:03blocks room, whatever that is well no.
- 17:05Ok then what you're talking about is something 20 blocks
- 17:09away, not that it's not a problem but it's outside of you.
- 17:14Exactly. But when you bring that 20
- 17:16blocks into your home, that's that anxiety in that worried.
- 17:21Well, how are we gonna keep safe?
- 17:22How are you doing? And I get it.
- 17:24And, you know, I tell everybody, you know, we should all be aware
- 17:26of our surroundings, but not to the point of it being
- 17:30hyper-vigilant when you get so fixated on a problem, you don't
- 17:35see Solutions you. There's no positivity and that's
- 17:38the thing. When you're changing it within
- 17:41yourself, and when you go out into the world, you're spreading
- 17:44that, that positivity, that can only equal something good.
- 17:49It's not. You know what I mean?
- 17:50It's not going to be like your film, like you've got to stay
- 17:53inside to keep safe from everything that's happening.
- 17:57Exactly. And I think that thing too, Is
- 18:00we can't meet the needs of everybody, right?
- 18:04We can't do all of those things. We just do the best that we can
- 18:07in any given situation. We had more discussion over.
- 18:11How much candy are we going to buy for this finger should do we
- 18:14really need more stickers? And I'm just telling y'all right
- 18:18now are stickers were a huge hit at Pride?
- 18:21She was there like she wanted to get these ones.
- 18:22I said I am not going to sit there and cut those off.
- 18:25I said it ain't happening. 500 stickers, cut.
- 18:29No. No, that ain't me.
- 18:31And they're like, no here's some to already cut.
- 18:33There's something and they came to the cutest little packs and
- 18:36they were really unique because so and who knew no.
- 18:39But you know, everybody thought you can never have enough
- 18:42stickers know so many people collected them but those were
- 18:46really cool ones. Yes, it's so but you were there
- 18:50like no, let's get these on. They're like, no, we're gonna
- 18:52get this one in. Mine was just simply due to the
- 18:55fact that I didn't want to add one more thing to this already.
- 19:00Kind of stressful situation. And then I said, well, let's
- 19:04just get these bracelets, we have enough braces, I said but I
- 19:06know these are really cool. Can we get these braces bleeps?
- 19:08And when you finally, she conceded and those were another
- 19:12here at they were different. But at first, it is.
- 19:16And then the thing of, oh my God, what if we run out of
- 19:19product, what if we don't have enough for everybody, what have
- 19:21you? And then it's like, then give
- 19:23out a flyer, okay? Right.
- 19:26Yeah, it is, could you once again when we let that Emotion,
- 19:31and then the critical thinking, you know, once we then went
- 19:33through and looked at the numbers you were there like, oh
- 19:35yeah, we do need a few more things.
- 19:37Yeah, but and it was, you know, like I said, that first day, was
- 19:41really stressful to start. It was starting to impact me
- 19:44physically. And then by that second day, and
- 19:47the second day was even busier than the first day.
- 19:51There was like 15,000 plus that attended Pride this year,
- 19:54apparently, and I am so grateful.
- 19:57We were a part of it that second day I was Much more relaxed even
- 20:02doing the parade. I, you know, even though up to
- 20:05that point, I was really intimidated by that idea.
- 20:08And but I was glad that we did it.
- 20:10So, it was I and I think the thing is too, is that we were
- 20:14there like, oh, my God, somebody's got to watch our
- 20:15booth. But then how do they talk about
- 20:17us? How do they tell about what we
- 20:18do? And well, I mean I these were
- 20:20some of my thoughts, you know, do I give him a little card, you
- 20:23know? But then we have information
- 20:24written on the back of our fire slowly on a rock that man.
- 20:28Yes. Oh my goodness.
- 20:29Has she hired her, man? I'm gonna be great PR.
- 20:34Yeah, I've seen you how to promote.
- 20:36Yeah, so you know once again it was just it was such a fun time
- 20:40but there was also those things, you know.
- 20:42And I loved everybody who stopped and talked with us at
- 20:45the booth and yeah, we got lots of business cards.
- 20:49We got lots of people who are wanted to do podcast, how do you
- 20:52do that? So we kind of talked with them
- 20:54about that and I think and just about encouraging people to be
- 20:57the best version once again. Who they are, hmm.
- 21:01You know, and I think that, that was one of the things we heard a
- 21:04lot. I was, you know, oh, that's so
- 21:06cool that it's about being mentally, strong, and things
- 21:09like that. Well, I'm one of the things that
- 21:11we really focus on is empowering people.
- 21:13And, you know, when people come to us with questions about
- 21:17podcasting or those kinds of things, I'm always just we're
- 21:20happy to share that information because we want everybody to be
- 21:24successful. Yeah, it's not a competition
- 21:27right? Where they're like, you know,
- 21:29there's a bitch. Billion people in the world,
- 21:31everybody can take their little piece of the pie and still have
- 21:33a pretty good size piece by, you know, it's kind of our mentality
- 21:37with and, and that's that thing to a pain.
- 21:39It Forward all of those things that I think are really
- 21:42important. But once again, if I go to that
- 21:45place of well I can't give Christie that information.
- 21:49What if she starts taking my audience?
- 21:51Well, what if I don't have this and what if I don't have that
- 21:53and what if she has more, there goes that hamster on the wheel
- 21:56with the worry instead of oh my There's a billion people.
- 22:01Yeah, yeah. Christy can have her podcast.
- 22:05Not only that. I mean, it's just more.
- 22:08There's just a lot of Versatility, a lot of people
- 22:10like different themes and and whatever they want to do a
- 22:14podcast on that's great because there's going to be somebody.
- 22:18There's, maybe an audience for them.
- 22:20Absolutely. And I think that's kind of the
- 22:23thing too is, you know, even the other thing you talked about
- 22:26earlier. And, you know, you talked about
- 22:28promoting yourself, you know, I I am amazed at some of the
- 22:31people who have the ability to do that, you know what I mean?
- 22:35You know, I remember we're talking to Frankie Sanchez,
- 22:37senior, his whole thing is he promotes himself on social
- 22:41media, that's his whole thing. He's after he promotes, he
- 22:44promotes he promotes this is something we're learning and and
- 22:47I don't know where it comes from, where people are
- 22:51apprehensive about promoting themselves, you know what I
- 22:54mean? Well, we talked a lot about that
- 22:56in general. Like, people don't do self care
- 22:58while self-care. It's really important for your
- 23:02own sake, it within your own mind of having peace and those
- 23:06kinds of things. But it's like, pay taking a Step
- 23:10Beyond that even when you have to actually really promote
- 23:13yourself, you're really selling your talents, basically, really
- 23:18showcasing that and talking yourself up, and that people
- 23:22don't do a lot of positive self-talk, in general.
- 23:25I mean, that's usually what we find.
- 23:28So, you know, your that's Just a dialogue in your head, think
- 23:31about taking that outside of you and and promoting yourself to
- 23:35somebody else, then you know, you have both sides of that
- 23:39where people are just like, okay, well, they're really full
- 23:42of themselves or whatever, you know.
- 23:44And I think once again, I think that think of people staying so
- 23:47much in their head of how much do I promote myself without
- 23:50sounding arrogant or conceited? Yeah.
- 23:52How much do I do this without this or without that?
- 23:55Do you know what I mean? It takes a lot of believing in
- 23:57yourself because even if you're, you know, don't come Across as
- 24:00arrogant, you have to believe in what you're doing.
- 24:03You have to back up what you say?
- 24:05Yeah, you can't say I'm the best of this and then and then not
- 24:09feel like you have anything valuable to to get it.
- 24:12Mmm. Absolutely.
- 24:14And I think once again that, that's that place, where people
- 24:17get stuck in their head sometimes and I see that with
- 24:20people where they can have a talent artist to me.
- 24:23Are they are the most critical of themselves?
- 24:26Well, you can't see it till it's done.
- 24:28Well, it's not good enough. Oh, why would somebody want
- 24:30this? You know what I mean?
- 24:32And sometimes when we say that, why are people listening?
- 24:37And then we say, it's because we're fun, I must be it.
- 24:43That's what I like to think. Any, wait a minute, you know, I
- 24:46put out there that I thought were putting out some valuable
- 24:48information and I, you know, we really are of the mindset that
- 24:51if one person listens and it matters in it, and it provides
- 24:55them with something. Then we've done.
- 24:57Well, that's the thing that people People should really
- 25:01realize. I mean we've had previous
- 25:03episodes about like even knowing yourself worth, whatever, you're
- 25:07giving whatever, you're providing whatever service it
- 25:12is, if you're really putting your heart into it, you're
- 25:15bringing something positive to other people and I think that's
- 25:18what you have to. Remember, I think we have to
- 25:20stop listening to all those other people who have these
- 25:22strong opinions of what we are, and who we are, and all this,
- 25:26and that other stuff. And I think that that's
- 25:27sometimes a big struggle that I see.
- 25:29See, you know in my practice is people listening to other
- 25:32people. Oh, I'm not good enough.
- 25:33Our friends, it doesn't matter, you're not gonna be able to do
- 25:35this. You know, you're not smart
- 25:38enough, you're not there, you're not that.
- 25:40We need to start shutting that off.
- 25:41Because once again, that Lisa that anxiety, because if I'm
- 25:45doing something and I feel like, you know, I'm good at this, but
- 25:49then those voices start coming back in of, you know what, he
- 25:52ended up being an artist. She can't be an artist what you
- 25:54can do, you not going to be getting money with in that
- 25:56little nagging crap, that stays there would be Is it or not?
- 26:00Then we start to have anxiety about why can't do this, no?
- 26:05Any start second-guessing yourself.
- 26:06Exactly. That's where the worry comes
- 26:09into play, and it's just because you're starting to listen to
- 26:12those other voices that makes you feel like you're incapable.
- 26:15And that's not true. Exactly.
- 26:17So I tell the artist I said, you know, some of my clients are
- 26:19artists. I'll tell them, you know what we
- 26:22are in this era of social media. I said, where you put your heart
- 26:27out there, there's going to be somebody who sees it and That's
- 26:29what they're looking for that exact thing is what they are
- 26:32looking for. Exactly.
- 26:35So social media has opened up the world to a lot of people
- 26:39with different talents and you know, you can get on there, you
- 26:41can see people's I love the thing.
- 26:43I love the most about social media is the talent.
- 26:46I've got to see because of it, right?
- 26:49It is amazing, amazing amazing. I'm so grateful for some of the
- 26:55artists. I've seen some of the singers.
- 26:57I've seen. Just, it's amazing.
- 26:59Using tummy. Exactly.
- 27:01And I mean that's true because you get to see more people being
- 27:06brave and putting themselves out there and that way and just
- 27:10showcasing their talents. And that's one of the things we
- 27:13love doing even on the podcast. We talk about that all the time,
- 27:16the people that we have on showcasing their talents or you
- 27:20know, their determination to achieve something.
- 27:23And I think it's amazing that we do have that platform for that
- 27:27with social media because like like I A, I mean, unless
- 27:31somebody had just happened to end up on a show like America's
- 27:34Got Talent or whatever those kinds of shows that are on now
- 27:38that showcase that kind of thing unless they ended up on a show,
- 27:41you would never meet even know they exist but because of social
- 27:44media, we have access to that. And I think that is really cool
- 27:48and I think that once again I think people when they put
- 27:51themselves out there and they also open I feel like one of the
- 27:56other things I hear people say. But if you do that, then Can
- 27:59sometimes be mean, mmm. You know.
- 28:02So then there's the anxiety over.
- 28:04Oh my God, if I do this, what are people going to say about
- 28:07me? Am I going to be body shaming or
- 28:09am I going to be whatever all the kinds of different stuff
- 28:13that people say? Because, you know, you're
- 28:15sitting behind something and you don't know these people, but we
- 28:18feel the need to doing this. And so there's anxiety and even
- 28:23in that and that's okay, because there's always gonna be haters
- 28:26one things that I am always telling, Sharon you will notice
- 28:30on any post that you see there's all kinds of reactions to things
- 28:36sometimes, and you're just there like, wow, how could you be
- 28:39angry about that, you know, or how could you, you know, it
- 28:41seems like such a positive message but there are people, I
- 28:44think that what I think what you have to realize is that a lot of
- 28:48those people, I feel like are usually miserable in their own
- 28:52existence and they they're not to a place where that they're
- 28:56even happy within themselves and a lot of times Here a lot of
- 29:00criticisms from people and that and, you know, that's just,
- 29:04that's how people are even within their own head.
- 29:06Like I said, it's a lot of - dialogue that goes on in there.
- 29:09So do we expect them to be that much nicer to others?
- 29:12I mean, I don't know there's that but, you know, I think that
- 29:16you have to move beyond that. Like you say, stop listening to
- 29:19all the background noise all those naysayers.
- 29:22Yeah, that tells you you can't because, you know, that you can
- 29:25and it just takes practice. And, you know, I think that that
- 29:29that's one of the things that I love about this podcast is that
- 29:33the people that we have on our people, like you said, they have
- 29:37a goal, they have a vision, and if we can give them a platform
- 29:41for that 24, even to get one more person, whether it's AJ,
- 29:46the MMA, getting another person who says, oh my gosh, I'm going
- 29:51to go watch because of him or Frankie Sanchez jr.
- 29:54I'll watch that boxing match. I didn't know, boxing could be
- 29:58fun, you know all of Those things Suzanne.
- 30:01Oh watercolor, you know, whatever it is, you know, I
- 30:04didn't know, I could appreciate that, whatever it is, poetry all
- 30:08the different things, all the different people we've had on
- 30:11with just those ideas and that thing of finding somebody who
- 30:18needs that, sometimes they meet somebody who oh well you know
- 30:22he's so lonely he's from a small town and look they could make it
- 30:26you know or whatever. I think those things are super
- 30:29Important. Yeah, exactly.
- 30:32And I think that's what we try to promote that.
- 30:34We don't, it doesn't matter who you are.
- 30:36And once again, we're all about different people, it's that
- 30:40story that you tell. And once again the stories and
- 30:44everybody who we interview at some point probably had their
- 30:49doubts. Oh definitely, you know what I
- 30:51mean? Am I gonna be able to make it
- 30:54and still do? It's it's interesting because
- 30:57even people that are, you know, really And out there, you're
- 31:01still going to deal with some of those fears and insecurities.
- 31:04I mean, it just happens. We're human, we have those that,
- 31:08you know, we face those things. But and it's just continuing to
- 31:12practice and that consistency, each day that moves us forward.
- 31:17Exactly. And I think that having a great
- 31:20support system and I go find those people who work, who who
- 31:25understand your vision who want to share in you?
- 31:29Meeting whatever that vision is, yes.
- 31:33Surround yourself with those people.
- 31:35Let them in on this journey that you're on.
- 31:39We are so fortunate because we have amazing people.
- 31:43Yes, who have network of friends, great waterfall,
- 31:47network of friends. It was amazing.
- 31:50It was so great, you know, we finished the parade and there's
- 31:52Heather and Michael taking photos and stuff and I so
- 31:56appreciate them being there and supporting And hanging out with
- 32:00us at our booth, you know, just things like that, you're
- 32:04grateful for it. Yes.
- 32:06But it also helps when you start having that anxiety or all, that
- 32:11worried around something focus on those people who are already
- 32:16in your corner. Not the people you don't have
- 32:19yet. Yes.
- 32:21Because they'll come it'll come that summer.
- 32:23We keep saying that y'all. We've been doing this since
- 32:252021. Yes. 2021, we do our best to be
- 32:33as consistent as we can, but that consistency for those who
- 32:38have followed us from the beginning.
- 32:40So immensely grateful. Yes.
- 32:42For those of you barely jumping on immensely grateful for that,
- 32:45exactly. We love it.
- 32:47And we always tell people and we told him we can be interactive.
- 32:51If you have topics ideas, get on our web page, two girls in a
- 32:55pod.com. Leave a message first there.
- 32:59Yeah. Facebook, send us an email
- 33:01podcast, dot two girls in the Pod at hotmail.com, any of
- 33:06those. Think you do that if we get
- 33:08enough people in their city? Oh, what about this topic?
- 33:11Then we'll cover that topic. Yeah, because it's important.
- 33:15We want to hear from everybody. Maybe that's a therapist in me
- 33:19or something. I want to know people's ideas.
- 33:22I want to know what they're thinking how they're processing
- 33:26things, you know. But most definitely You know,
- 33:29that's such a huge thing for us because that's part of giving
- 33:33back. Well and I think that's part of
- 33:36a critical thinking process, I mean, you know, getting feedback
- 33:40and things like that. It tells you about Direction and
- 33:43stuff that you, you need to take and helping you come up with a
- 33:48plan and those kinds of things. I would think anybody would want
- 33:52that in anything that they're doing.
- 33:54If you got somebody that can give you feedback and, you know,
- 33:58sometimes it's constructive, So sometimes it's just
- 34:01encouragement but it's it's important to have that.
- 34:05Well no, I think that's the other thing too.
- 34:07Is when you do get that feedback, you often find.
- 34:11You were worried about something that you created about all
- 34:15worries, all created in our head.
- 34:17It doesn't, it doesn't exist outside of our head but you
- 34:20find. Oh my God.
- 34:21I just had to do I just had to look at it that way.
- 34:24Yeah I was you realize that some of your fears are how
- 34:27unrealistic they are. You know That's one of the cool
- 34:30things. I love about being a therapist,
- 34:32you know, somebody comes into my office and they're talking about
- 34:34this and I'm kind of looking and saying, did you ever think of it
- 34:36this way? And they'll be there.
- 34:37Look what know, I can go on. Yeah, oh my gosh, I didn't even
- 34:43know you could think of things like that and they're like, why
- 34:45not always about stepping outside that box, looking at
- 34:50things in very different ways using that critical thinking
- 34:53using that going into that place.
- 34:57Now, that's not to say that the emotions not Art.
- 35:00It's very important acknowledging.
- 35:02The emotion is important, but then saying, okay now that I
- 35:05have it. Now, what do I do differently?
- 35:07The particularly if it's something you don't lie, if
- 35:10you're having a feeling you don't like, or it's a criticism
- 35:12that you've received or that and you have to be able to okay, you
- 35:16hear it, let go of the emotion and move on from there, you
- 35:20know. So this is another really big
- 35:22thing is, I always tell people, you know, somebody comes to you
- 35:24and in these critical of you or has an opinion, about you always
- 35:29tell Self in your head. That is their opinion.
- 35:31That is their truth. It is not mine, right?
- 35:35And I say, repeat that, that is their opinion.
- 35:38That is their truth. It is not mine and when you
- 35:42understand that, that is theirs and you give them ownership of
- 35:45it, you don't take ownership of it.
- 35:47Exactly. And that's huge because you
- 35:50don't even realize sometimes people are even doing it because
- 35:54it's necessarily what they truly think.
- 35:56Sometimes, you know when they say there's that saying Misery
- 36:00loves company. Some people are just bitter and,
- 36:03you know, they'll say something hurtful like that, you know,
- 36:05maybe not even, it's not even truly about what you're doing.
- 36:09It's just that the place and state of mind that they're in,
- 36:11and I agree. And I think that sometimes, and
- 36:15I think that goes to, that same thing is that is their version
- 36:19of their truth. But it's coming from very
- 36:21emotional place and you're right.
- 36:23Sometimes it's somebody's in a very bad place.
- 36:25They often will say something hurtful to To bring because
- 36:30you're right there, is that comfort in that?
- 36:32I'm not the only one miserable, right?
- 36:35But I was tell people, if that's the case, then do your best to
- 36:37elevate them to your level, and not go to.
- 36:39There's exactly and sometimes that's difficult for people to
- 36:43do. Well, it can't be because you
- 36:44get caught up in the emotion, right.
- 36:46You know, some system says, oh my God, that outfit.
- 36:48Just it's hideous on you or whatever and you're out in
- 36:51public, it's like, oh my God, where's the closest place to go
- 36:54change and 90 yards and I love looking good today.
- 36:57I think you're like, what You lied to me?
- 37:03Yeah, yeah. She's always telling me, you
- 37:06know. Okay.
- 37:06Do we look OK? Because one the most I got a all
- 37:09this story real quick. We were with your brother,
- 37:14David, and we were headed, I think to Florida, we stop off
- 37:17overnight and we order pizza. So David and I are sitting on
- 37:23the bed watching TV or something, and they have pizza,
- 37:26man, comes and Christy goes to the door, gets the pizza.
- 37:28Well, she gets a pizza. And when she turns around David
- 37:31and my our eyes are huge and where they're like, you went to
- 37:33the door with your hair, like that her hair was literally
- 37:36standing straight up at the front, it looked horrible.
- 37:42I was like, wow, you love me? Let me go to the door.
- 37:44Looking funny. He probably went all people.
- 37:48Wait, you should have seen the way that lady's hair was done.
- 37:52But yeah, so that's why it's important to have those people
- 37:55who really love and care about you to let you know those
- 37:58things. Since that time I will let you
- 38:00know I have not let her go out with her hair looking like that.
- 38:05I appreciate that. But no I think we do our best
- 38:10but in sometimes it is funny. You don't you said that you know
- 38:12you feel like you look all good and everything then somebody
- 38:15says something different and how quickly that will drop
- 38:18somebody's mood. Yeah, instead of once.
- 38:21Realizing what they think and feel about you is only as
- 38:26relevant, as you let it be exactly.
- 38:29What should be more relevant, is how you see yourself?
- 38:32Yes, that is the biggest thing. How you see yourself should be
- 38:36more relevant than how anybody else does and I have to say
- 38:40after going to Pride, I was like, you know, it's wonderful
- 38:44that people have that can have the confidence because we saw
- 38:49every kind of outfit. They're all That kind of stuff.
- 38:52I was like you know, that's it's wonderful though that people can
- 38:56can feel good about themselves and go out there and, you know,
- 39:01be who they want to be then and you know, you have that one day
- 39:04or whatever. But you know, I think the thing
- 39:06is is it's it is that thing of embracing who you are.
- 39:11And but once again, we get so caught up in that worry anxiety
- 39:17and can stay there longer than we need to It's and, you know,
- 39:22he sipped and think oh my gosh! You know you were a for 20
- 39:25minutes about something that's 20 minutes you don't get back.
- 39:28Hmm it's done gone and then oftentimes I don't know if you
- 39:33go out there to You'll worry worry worry worry worry about
- 39:36something and then the time comes or whatever and it's
- 39:40almost anti-climatic because nothing happened.
- 39:43Yeah, it's any of your like what?
- 39:45I just oh my God. Whatever you were worried about
- 39:49wasn't even an issue. Actly.
- 39:52Yeah, but how often that happens.
- 39:54Where people will work themselves up over stuff.
- 39:57Yeah. Once again when I'm working with
- 39:58clients, I'll be there. Like is this your problem or
- 40:01somebody else's? What do you mean?
- 40:04I said still not your problem. People haven't been problem with
- 40:08that, you know, because I think a lot of times, Well, when you
- 40:11love and care about somebody, you're trying to fix something
- 40:13for them and you really not, you know, it's not about you, you
- 40:18know, a lot of times people struggle with that, I think.
- 40:21That's where you can sit there and you can be supportive and
- 40:25stuff. But you know, these people have
- 40:27this idea of, oh my God, I got to make somebody happy.
- 40:29You talk about staying in a place of worry all the time.
- 40:32You're always worried. Am I making them happy or you're
- 40:34always worried? Am I good enough?
- 40:35Or I make this, I'm that in which case now you're not having
- 40:39a relationship that's healthy or you're not even being healthy,
- 40:43it's really being able to shift that to go to that place of
- 40:47really sitting down and giving thought to something.
- 40:51And the thing is, is that it makes it complicated because we
- 40:55don't change a thought with the thought.
- 40:57Okay. So you know people comes okay.
- 41:00I'm just going to think good thoughts.
- 41:01The ring goes really seriously. I don't think so.
- 41:04Yeah. The thing is his, we use our
- 41:06other senses. We start to believe, we have
- 41:09gratitude. There's all these other things
- 41:11that we can do in order to change some of those thought
- 41:13processes to get us out of that place of worry and that or also
- 41:19the best. And another way to do is once
- 41:21again And if you're in that state of worry, is go to
- 41:23critical thinking, say okay, wait a minute, what do I have
- 41:26control over? What are some things that I can
- 41:29do to change the situation, right?
- 41:32Because then I get to that place of looking for Solutions.
- 41:37In oftentimes people, this this is interesting to to they'll get
- 41:40stuck with two options or two solutions that but neither one
- 41:44really feels right and on there, like, what are you doing?
- 41:48Why just those do? And they're like, what do you
- 41:49mean they don't say for every Problem there could be multiple
- 41:52Solutions but we will get fixated and we will think
- 41:55there's only two and then we struggle between those two and
- 41:59if we stop with that and we take that step back sometimes we'll
- 42:03see a third solution or fourth or fifth and but you can't do
- 42:08that. Unless you take that step back
- 42:10like you said and look at it more.
- 42:12Critically. Yeah practice the pause.
- 42:15Yes that is so important to practice that pause.
- 42:21To take that breath. And then to see what can I do?
- 42:24Differently, let go of the emotion.
- 42:26Yes, if I'm doing stuff that's outside.
- 42:29My comfort zone, pause, take that breath.
- 42:33Yeah. And say, look at what stepping
- 42:37outside your comfort zone. What is going to be the benefit
- 42:40of it? Why am I doing it?
- 42:45That was one of the big things with us with pride was, what is
- 42:49the benefit we get to reach more people, we get to engage with
- 42:53more people on a personal level, just sitting there chatting with
- 42:55people and stuff, which is really important.
- 42:58Not only networking. Yeah.
- 43:00And not only gaining listeners, hopefully, that, you know, it,
- 43:04resonates with people, but also, those contacts that we made, you
- 43:09know, to maybe eventually have on the podcast because they have
- 43:14a Remar a story to tell and, you know, once again, there's
- 43:18anxiety around all of that, there's anxiety around taking
- 43:21that first step stepping outside of our comfort zone, but have
- 43:26the anxiety. But then switch to that thinking
- 43:28mode. Where you say, what is the plan?
- 43:31What is the goal? What are my steps and know?
- 43:34There's going to be anxiety. Give that short Focus to it that
- 43:39you have to then. Realize the anxiety is my
- 43:41motivator. Yeah, the anxiety is my Major
- 43:45and step away, shifting back to your main goal and focus because
- 43:50if you can just take care of what's right in front of you,
- 43:54that's like one baby step forward to your goal and it's
- 43:58not about thinking about all of the end result or all the other
- 44:01things that have to happen because that's overwhelming,
- 44:04just focusing on what the task right in front of you.
- 44:07Exactly. So, for us it was a super
- 44:11exciting week, it was stepping out.
- 44:14Outside of our comfort zone, having that anxiety, having to
- 44:18switch to that critical thinking, to get to make it more
- 44:22successful. To realizing that stepping
- 44:25outside of that comfort zone. Wasn't as scary as we made it
- 44:29out to be as often is the case, but it was fun.
- 44:34We appreciate everybody who stopped at our booth and chatted
- 44:37with us and we had an amazing time and we're very, very
- 44:41grateful for it. Yes.
- 44:42And hopefully hopefully, That people are feeling more
- 44:45empowered. Yes, that's really the big
- 44:49thing. We are super excited.
- 44:51Next week we'll have another guest on.
- 44:54Yeah. Georgie go sheep and we're very
- 44:57excited about that she's local to Springs and she's going to
- 45:01talk with us a little bit about her practice and the cool things
- 45:06that she is doing in the practice dance or super, duper
- 45:10excited about that. I guess, for this week, the mess
- 45:14Could you step outside your comfort zone?
- 45:18Be brave, be brave. And also, knowing that anxiety,
- 45:23starts shift it to that more critical thinking to looking for
- 45:27those solutions, for helping the critical thinking keep you
- 45:31focused and on task with the goal that you're trying to
- 45:35achieve, keep believing in yourself.
- 45:38Yes. Being the best version of you
- 45:39that you can possibly be as always we are super grateful to
- 45:43everybody. Who listens and we appreciate it
- 45:47and thank you so much. Have a great week.
- 45:50Yes, bye.
