- 2:06Speaker 1: He is the co host of the nationally syndicated Steve
- 2:09Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show that puts him in front of a

- 2:14Speaker 1: with an incredibly funny prank phone calls. He co stars
- 2:18Speaker 1: on on many television and film roles and has a
- 2:21Speaker 1: law following as an outstanding stand up comedian. He's on
- 2:25Speaker 1: the show today to talk about overcoming the arts and
- 2:28Speaker 1: show business, which I got to talk about what this
- 2:30Speaker 1: show is about. Money making conversation because everybody thinks that
- 2:33Speaker 1: you just arrived, you know, just see you in television.
- 2:35Speaker 1: They see it's like the lottery, and this business is
- 2:38Speaker 1: not like that. I've been knowing this young brother since
- 2:39Speaker 1: n two when I opened up my comedy club, the
- 2:42Speaker 1: Hip Hop Comedy Stop, way back then in Houston, Texas.
- 2:45Speaker 1: So I understand that. And this new unscripted show that
- 2:48Speaker 1: he's hosting, that he's hosting the dating show that is
- 2:52Speaker 1: that's on the own network. It's called Ready to Love.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Please work on the money making conversation, my man, Thomas Nephew, Tommy, Myles, Bruce,
- 3:02Speaker 1: how you're doing man? Pretty good man? Very proud, very proudly.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Here's the funny part. You know, because when you was
- 3:08Speaker 1: in Atlanta with Will Will Packer, you know, doing that
- 3:11Speaker 1: little tour, because Will sitting next year, would let you talk.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I love Will Man. We'll be going out there, man,
- 3:19Speaker 1: Will he let my man talk. So I was I
- 3:22Speaker 1: was in U and I was at I was at
- 3:25Speaker 1: the restaurant, and I was just watching on TV, said
- 3:27Speaker 1: my man, because I knew the show was coming out.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And the show I'm talking about on the on network.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's called Ready to Love. It's hosted by good friend
- 3:34Speaker 1: long time. I wouldn't say mentor I've been mentoring this
- 3:37Speaker 1: man's nineteen ninty two is uh as a stand up
- 3:40Speaker 1: comic and UH, and watched them grow into an amazing talent.
- 3:44Speaker 1: How did that opportunity to come about? And we'll just
- 3:47Speaker 1: talked about it. Go back in your past, this journey
- 3:49Speaker 1: of being nephew Tom, being Thomas Miles first and then
- 3:52Speaker 1: becoming this amazing character on radio and nephew Tim me
- 3:56Speaker 1: and now you Thomas, Nephew Tommy Miles. Now the whole
- 4:00Speaker 1: the whole brand. Now it compasses everything. Talk about that, Uh,
- 4:04Speaker 1: the opportunity to hosting this new show. Well, you know
- 4:08Speaker 1: what we show. You know, it starts back with uh,
- 4:11Speaker 1: you know school man, from from junior high to high
- 4:13Speaker 1: school to college being being a theater major and um,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you know, after school man, I did, I did stage
- 4:21Speaker 1: plays around the country and uh, but then you know, uh,
- 4:26Speaker 1: stage plays kind of working like school teachers. They're off
- 4:28Speaker 1: in the summertime and off on the holiday. So in
- 4:31Speaker 1: the summer, Man, in the summer, I would I would
- 4:33Speaker 1: come home and and uh, one of my buddies told me, hey,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't why don't you try your hand at some
- 4:39Speaker 1: stand up comedy. I'm like, no, man, I'm a I'm
- 4:42Speaker 1: a thespian. That's not what I do. And I came
- 4:45Speaker 1: to your club one night and got on stage and
- 4:49Speaker 1: did a great job. And you know that's where it started.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I came back and you kept giving me a shot,
- 4:55Speaker 1: You kept putting me on stage, and next thing I know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: I was doing a HOLLO, I was doing VTS comic views.
- 5:03Speaker 1: As time progress, I was opening up for opening up
- 5:07Speaker 1: for Luke de Van Dronson, you know, excuse me in
- 5:11Speaker 1: between me uh doing Luthan. When I came to Los Angeles,
- 5:14Speaker 1: you had you had then moved from from Houston to
- 5:17Speaker 1: Los Angeles. So what do I do when I land
- 5:20Speaker 1: and hit the ground, Who do I call Russia? Mcdonalo, Hey,
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'm in l A man. I want to work somewhere.
- 5:26Speaker 1: And that's that's when you would you would throw the
- 5:30Speaker 1: Parker sister sisters. Remember I would land these I would yeah,
- 5:35Speaker 1: I would land these guest starring roles when I would
- 5:37Speaker 1: come and on this and it basically you just told
- 5:39Speaker 1: me that you know, you need to be here, man,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you need to get your get your mind right. Or
- 5:43Speaker 1: if you this is really what you want, you gotta
- 5:46Speaker 1: be here. And those are the things that people have
- 5:48Speaker 1: to hear. If this is really your desire, if this
- 5:51Speaker 1: is really your dream, did you You can't do it
- 5:55Speaker 1: if you're not in the place where it is. You
- 5:57Speaker 1: gotta get there and and and that's what made me,
- 6:00Speaker 1: Um redirect myself to Los Andres, California. Got there. Um,
- 6:05Speaker 1: you know, you invited me to come down and sit
- 6:07Speaker 1: on the show, which Steve had no idea this was
- 6:11Speaker 1: gonna be a home run hit that that, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the birth of the of the Nephew and the Uncle
- 6:18Speaker 1: became just a home run hit up and here Um,
- 6:22Speaker 1: fourteen years later, I can't believe I'm you know, because
- 6:24Speaker 1: I was telling you guys. I remember saying, okay, listen,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I could do this. But when Luther call, I be
- 6:29Speaker 1: playing on the radio with y'all. And and then and
- 6:34Speaker 1: you know, man, you know, God gives you a God
- 6:36Speaker 1: gives you a job when you don't even know you
- 6:38Speaker 1: need one. Man, Luther, Luther got sick, passed away, never
- 6:42Speaker 1: went back out on tour, and uh, you know, and
- 6:45Speaker 1: I was blessed to have that that uh be able
- 6:48Speaker 1: to jump and land on my feet with the with
- 6:50Speaker 1: the Steve Harvey Morning Show, uh executive produced by you.
- 6:54Speaker 1: And I was able to get you know, get in
- 6:56Speaker 1: there and find my way. And and um, you know,
- 6:59Speaker 1: the prank onon calls took off, characters took off, my
- 7:02Speaker 1: my stand up comedy got bigger, and it all just
- 7:05Speaker 1: sam from not quitting, not not settling to do something else, man.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And and that's the goal. Will Packer been with us
- 7:12Speaker 1: a long time, you know, way back to stump to y'all,
- 7:14Speaker 1: that's how long he's been with us in the radio,
- 7:17Speaker 1: and we pe promoting all this picture thinking like a
- 7:19Speaker 1: man one and two, all these all these movies. He's
- 7:22Speaker 1: been doing sitcoms. So the Will Packer text you and say, hey, man,
- 7:29Speaker 1: we got next. That's a different wheel Packer than we
- 7:31Speaker 1: first met. So you know when he says that, I
- 7:34Speaker 1: do want everybody know how big of a text that
- 7:38Speaker 1: was for Tommy to get when you said he got emotional. Dude,
- 7:42Speaker 1: Will Packer is a beast now in the game. Okay,
- 7:45Speaker 1: Will Packer, you know Kevin Hart movies on a regular Okay,
- 7:51Speaker 1: girl trip, girl tripp to coming out. You know, so
- 7:55Speaker 1: when you see you know what I'm saying. When you
- 7:57Speaker 1: when you get that text from the guy like that,
- 7:59Speaker 1: the will Packer we talk about now, Man, that that
- 8:02Speaker 1: had to be, like you said, brought you to tears. Yeah, yeah, yea,
- 8:08Speaker 1: so it's it's uh, it was. It was a good feeling, Rashaan.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But you know, even after you get the call, Rashaan,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Now you you know, your mind is your mind is like, okay, man,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I gotta do this and I got to hit home run. Sure,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I do my job. You know, you start stepping up
- 8:23Speaker 1: to the flats there Now, I'm not Benna strikeout. Now,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I've been waiting on this shot too long. Okay, Now,
- 8:28Speaker 1: tell us about the show, it's uh black men and
- 8:30Speaker 1: women in their thirties and fortists who are looking for
- 8:33Speaker 1: lasting love and authentic relationships. Yes, yes, based out of
- 8:39Speaker 1: out of Atlanta, Rashaan. So we got twenty twenty singles,
- 8:43Speaker 1: uh thriving singles. Man, out of Atlanta. We had eight
- 8:46Speaker 1: eight guys and twelve women because you know, the ratio
- 8:49Speaker 1: in Atlanta is twenty to one. So we set the
- 8:52Speaker 1: show up in that, in that type of layout where
- 8:55Speaker 1: it's a little outside of eight guys and twelve women
- 8:59Speaker 1: and it's it's it's ten weeks, man, a process of elimination. Man,
- 9:02Speaker 1: they go out, they mix up you you uh, you
- 9:06Speaker 1: may go out with this person this week, next week,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you might whoever you're feeling. You might. You might go
- 9:11Speaker 1: out and and and meet their parents, you know, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: you know, like you said, there in their thirties and four,
- 9:17Speaker 1: you might be meeting their kids. This is the real world.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Might the factory sign. We've sent them out and you're
- 9:26Speaker 1: gonna do You're gonna meet that best friend, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: the best friend like, oh yeah, but the kid episode
- 9:35Speaker 1: just that's that's the killer episode right there. Oh yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the fine chick with the bad kids. You go now
- 9:44Speaker 1: you go. I've always want let me you know matter. Okay,
- 9:52Speaker 1: they brought the concept to you. Were you able to
- 9:55Speaker 1: shape it? Because I know you're a creative guy. Did
- 9:57Speaker 1: you ever put it in nephew tummy ism into it,
- 10:00Speaker 1: bring a little your flavor series, Yes, I had to,
- 10:04Speaker 1: man uh, I mean, I mean, you know, you know
- 10:06Speaker 1: how long I've been with my wife, So I was
- 10:08Speaker 1: able to at least bring uh some relationship advice or
- 10:12Speaker 1: what I've been through, what I'm seeing and what I've experienced,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and then you know, and then bring some Tommy to it,
- 10:17Speaker 1: because I want some comedy anywhere I can at least
- 10:20Speaker 1: be a kid, been playful, but but it's still safe
- 10:24Speaker 1: focused at the same time. So yeah, I was able
- 10:26Speaker 1: to shape myself and and put myself you know, not
- 10:29Speaker 1: lose Tommy right right here here here in this root y'all.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Not lose Tommy, but give him some Komas Miles too.
- 10:37Speaker 1: There you go there, because see, like I said, Tomas,
- 10:41Speaker 1: right now you're hearing Thomas Miles. See that Tommy nefew
- 10:44Speaker 1: Tommy said, laugh right there, that nephew Tommy, that that
- 10:48Speaker 1: look that looks a little kind of like funny centers
- 10:51Speaker 1: to side. Yeah, he come over here, I got some
- 10:53Speaker 1: fun over here. Yeah, that's that's what I because I
- 10:57Speaker 1: saw an episode because first of all, when the promo,
- 11:00Speaker 1: when I saw the promo, that was Thomas Miles to me,
- 11:03Speaker 1: because you articulate, smooth and everything that go, Man, I
- 11:06Speaker 1: hope he ain't Thomas Miles the whole thing through now.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Then I then I start, I saw an episode. Go
- 11:11Speaker 1: there you go. Being silly and silly is a good thing.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Being a good thing because a lot of people understand that,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you know, as your comedian, silly. You want to be silly.
- 11:20Speaker 1: You wanna be funny, you wanna be available, to be
- 11:23Speaker 1: able to say wow, because you've got a career that
- 11:26Speaker 1: you gotta go back out there and tell jokes on.
- 11:28Speaker 1: So you don't want to come on the TV show.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Let me tell you this. For what I didn't want
- 11:35Speaker 1: people to do is to tune in and not know
- 11:38Speaker 1: this guy at all. That I had to have some
- 11:42Speaker 1: comed There had to be a balance. You have to
- 11:44Speaker 1: give him some comedy and then maybe you introduced them
- 11:47Speaker 1: a little bit of Thomas Miles. But the comedy has
- 11:50Speaker 1: to be there. And that's what I loved, That's what
- 11:53Speaker 1: I love. So so as you went through, was there
- 11:55Speaker 1: they growth for you as a host because this was
- 11:57Speaker 1: your You've hosted many Lives shows. You've hosted those those
- 12:02Speaker 1: those those academic shows, a black black academic shows. So
- 12:06Speaker 1: this is a different show. But dealing with adult people
- 12:08Speaker 1: is unscripted. What what challenges did it bring to you
- 12:11Speaker 1: as a host? As a host? You know what? Man,
- 12:14Speaker 1: I turned into U a coach. I turned into a referee.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I turned into a mentor. That that that because these
- 12:24Speaker 1: young guys and I'm saying here I am and I
- 12:26Speaker 1: can't believe I'm saying young guys they're in their thirties
- 12:29Speaker 1: and forties, that that that really really don't have a
- 12:33Speaker 1: clue about how to keep a relationship. So, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: outside of being funny, I had to go back and say, Okay,
- 12:39Speaker 1: come on, man, brother, really is this really the way
- 12:42Speaker 1: you think? You know? So I had to I had
- 12:45Speaker 1: to really start giving advice for real Ruth Shine, And
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm like, come on, man, you can't. You can't go
- 12:51Speaker 1: around telling every girl out here you like you like
- 12:54Speaker 1: all twelve of them. Man, you just went and told
- 12:56Speaker 1: all twelve of them. You think y'all got something? Come on, brother,
- 13:01Speaker 1: I love it. I love it, I love it. On
- 13:04Speaker 1: the phone, he's on the phone. This uh Thoma's nephew,
- 13:07Speaker 1: Tommy Miles uh coast the wildly popular Steve Harvey morning show.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But he's the host of the very popular Ready Ready
- 13:14Speaker 1: to Love is our own network as a will Pack production.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And I like the show because it's a it's a
- 13:19Speaker 1: spin from all these dating shows. Always got young people,
- 13:22Speaker 1: always got they look like they're perfect. They look at
- 13:25Speaker 1: they want perfect, they get up perfect. This is this
- 13:27Speaker 1: is a show still attractive people, but they got flaws.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. You know, they got flaws,
- 13:34Speaker 1: but they flaws that you're gonna meet in real life.
- 13:36Speaker 1: That's why the love if they think it's gonna be authentic,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and that's why you gotta watch this show now, they
- 13:41Speaker 1: tell me now. The final episode of the first season
- 13:44Speaker 1: airs on Deceper twenty second, but just comes on every week, correct, yes,
- 13:51Speaker 1: at least nine Central on but yeah, we uh we
- 13:54Speaker 1: just finished the sixth the sixth episode shot, so we're heady.
- 13:58Speaker 1: This this come inside of the the episode number two. Okay, cool,
- 14:00Speaker 1: what I need for you for talking? Because you know
- 14:02Speaker 1: I got a little brand. Now got my thing working.
- 14:04Speaker 1: So he'll tell you. Pr people send me a banner
- 14:08Speaker 1: of this show with you on it. And I posted
- 14:11Speaker 1: every Saturday on all my social media. Every Saturday, I
- 14:14Speaker 1: posted on my social media, man, because because you can't
- 14:17Speaker 1: you can't win. You can't win a lot of your
- 14:19Speaker 1: your your fan base and outside your fan base. No,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and man, you know if his Naty two, I got
- 14:24Speaker 1: much love and respect for you. I brought you on
- 14:26Speaker 1: the show because I just want to tell you, man,
- 14:27Speaker 1: thank you for being a man, and also let you
- 14:29Speaker 1: know how much your father was special. And uh and
- 14:32Speaker 1: he raised the good man. He raised the good man.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Man and you guys watch you okay, Man, stay strong.
- 14:38Speaker 1: That's nephew Tommy Thomas Miles on Network every Saturday, Ready

- 14:48Speaker 1: we know, bring back people we don't know, and more
- 14:51Speaker 1: important to people you need to hear from. Keep winning everybody,
- 14:54Speaker 1: Rushan McDonald. We'll be right back with more from John
- 15:02Speaker 1: McDonald and money making conversations. Don't touch that. Yeah, we
- 15:08Speaker 1: sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a lot
- 15:11Speaker 1: of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me for
- 15:13Speaker 1: my credit card debt, and I blamed him for building
- 15:16Speaker 1: that man cave. It's awesome anyway, we stopped blaming each other,
- 15:19Speaker 1: did our homework and read that a smart way to
- 15:21Speaker 1: consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan. But
- 15:25Speaker 1: getting a loan was brutal and a time drain. So
- 15:28Speaker 1: I was in my man cave researching personal loans and
- 15:30Speaker 1: I found best Egg. They have an A plus rating
- 15:33Speaker 1: with the B B B and best Egg handles everything

- 15:47Speaker 1: credit score. She always takes credit from my wins. But
- 15:49Speaker 1: long story short, she got an awesome loan, paid off

- 18:34Speaker 1: a L Cool. Welcome to Money Making Conversation. It's time
- 18:37Speaker 1: to get back to business. Business on this show is

- 18:53Speaker 1: has to be like fourteen years now. She uh special
- 18:58Speaker 1: in a way because of the fact that um she
- 19:01Speaker 1: she has no fear. She has no fear. She'll tell
- 19:03Speaker 1: your story. My next guess is the creator and founder
- 19:05Speaker 1: of The Sweet Faith. That's the Sweet That's s U
- 19:09Speaker 1: I t E. Faith, a luxury discounted travel accommodation provider
- 19:14Speaker 1: for faith, faith organizations and specialty group. Please work with
- 19:17Speaker 1: the Money Making Conversations. Nina Taylor, Hello ver Seawn, Thank
- 19:23Speaker 1: you for having me. First of all, Nina, how are
- 19:25Speaker 1: you doing? How are you doing. I'm good, I'm I've
- 19:30Speaker 1: left New York. I'm now in your hometown of h
- 19:33Speaker 1: Town in Houston. Will you allow me to get to
- 19:38Speaker 1: the good story? You know that's the whole translation. Yes,
- 19:42Speaker 1: because she she could control the room. Now she's that,
- 19:44Speaker 1: she's that brilliant. Now, first of all, the reason I
- 19:48Speaker 1: want to come want to talk about your new business
- 19:50Speaker 1: that you started called The Sweet Faith. That's s U
- 19:53Speaker 1: I t E. Faith. But I also want to talk
- 19:55Speaker 1: about when I on this show, I'd like to talk
- 19:57Speaker 1: about using an individual because you know, you originally from
- 20:01Speaker 1: the Fort Worth, Dallas, Texas area, correct, Correct? And you
- 20:05Speaker 1: made a decision, conscious lifestyle decision to move to New York,
- 20:09Speaker 1: did you? And you knew no one in New York
- 20:12Speaker 1: when you moved up there, and a lot of people
- 20:14Speaker 1: in life are intimidate by the process of making a
- 20:17Speaker 1: decision because there's so many degrees are unknown of the
- 20:21Speaker 1: available is unknown, and fear shut them down. Why were
- 20:25Speaker 1: you able to How were you able to overcome the
- 20:27Speaker 1: unknown or the fear of even potential failure because there's
- 20:31Speaker 1: no guarantee you were going to be successful when you
- 20:33Speaker 1: moved to New York. How did you overcome that my
- 20:36Speaker 1: faith in God. It was one of those things that
- 20:40Speaker 1: I had a really great conversation with my mother one time,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and she just said she wanted more for me. And
- 20:48Speaker 1: as scared that as that might seem, because I just thought, oh,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna go to college, I'll get married,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I'll have a couple of kids, like that will be
- 20:55Speaker 1: all I need. And she was like, nope, I see
- 20:58Speaker 1: more for you. You're going to do more. I need
- 21:00Speaker 1: you to live your dream. And I took a trip
- 21:03Speaker 1: to New York and I got on that plane and
- 21:06Speaker 1: to go back to Texas, and I cried my heart out,
- 21:09Speaker 1: and I was like, in two years, I'm moving in
- 21:11Speaker 1: the summer of two thousand five, And in the summer
- 21:14Speaker 1: two thousand five, I moved to New York. And uh
- 21:18Speaker 1: summer of two thousand Rushian McDonald moved to New York.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And that is true. It was our kind of career
- 21:26Speaker 1: path kind of aligned, which was great because I literally
- 21:29Speaker 1: had just gotten there. I was already in my career
- 21:33Speaker 1: of course in Dallas, um in corporate housing, and so
- 21:36Speaker 1: I knew my way around, but I was not knowing
- 21:38Speaker 1: my way around the city. So you were actually you
- 21:41Speaker 1: and the Steve Harvy Morning Show was one of my
- 21:43Speaker 1: first top clients. So as intimidating as you were, and
- 21:48Speaker 1: you are demanding and assertive and you want what you
- 21:52Speaker 1: want when you want, and you were kind of my
- 21:55Speaker 1: my big inspiration of I'm about to prove to this
- 21:58Speaker 1: man that I can do this job and I am
- 22:01Speaker 1: going to make it exceptionable for him. And from there
- 22:04Speaker 1: it just it accumulated to a point where I was
- 22:07Speaker 1: just like, Oh, I can do this, I can do that.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And then people started coming in and you helped with mentorship,
- 22:14Speaker 1: and so many other great people did as well. Um,
- 22:17Speaker 1: so I just had a foundation want of faith and
- 22:21Speaker 1: to just to trust my instincts. And three I really
- 22:25Speaker 1: worked at it. I mean, there's a work ethic that
- 22:28Speaker 1: you actually have to have in New York because you
- 22:31Speaker 1: will get stepped on and you have to play the
- 22:34Speaker 1: game and do it on your own terms in order
- 22:37Speaker 1: to win. So that's what I was able to do.
- 22:40Speaker 1: What exactly is corporate housing for the layman person to
- 22:44Speaker 1: understand that there's a there's a there's a whole business
- 22:47Speaker 1: out there that the works at. If you come to town,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you need some places they call us and we'll fix
- 22:53Speaker 1: you up in a turn key basic what's exactly its
- 22:55Speaker 1: corporate housing. So corporate housing is apartment so essentially or
- 23:01Speaker 1: a home, which is how basically Airbnb was able to
- 23:04Speaker 1: accumulate and grow to billions of dollars. So it's a
- 23:08Speaker 1: company that allows you to stay in an apartment that
- 23:11Speaker 1: is fully furnished, so you'll have internet, phone, cable, you'll
- 23:14Speaker 1: have all of the amenities. It's like you're walking into
- 23:16Speaker 1: an apartment that you set up and all you have
- 23:19Speaker 1: to do is just go pick up the keys at
- 23:20Speaker 1: the front desk. So we take care of the housekeeping,
- 23:23Speaker 1: We take care of all of the maintenance, any additional fees.
- 23:27Speaker 1: It's a whole package plan. So it's a great set
- 23:31Speaker 1: up when it comes to a big city like New
- 23:33Speaker 1: York or l A or you know even here um
- 23:36Speaker 1: in Texas. So that allows you the comfortability of getting
- 23:40Speaker 1: that kind of as they say, home away from Holland
- 23:42Speaker 1: situation instead of staying in a hotel room. It's the
- 23:46Speaker 1: four walls. You don't have like a full kitchen, you
- 23:49Speaker 1: can't really entertain guests when you want, So it gives
- 23:52Speaker 1: you a little bit more flexibility, um, just to feel
- 23:55Speaker 1: more comfortable and allow you to entertain better. You're competing
- 23:58Speaker 1: with in the world of the orbits, the trivelossities and
- 24:02Speaker 1: all these things. But you're talking from your angle is Look,
- 24:05Speaker 1: it's a faith based angle. And so this is our brand.
- 24:08Speaker 1: This is that's your brand base. That's gonna be clear
- 24:11Speaker 1: with this. You can book anybody. Anybody who wants to
- 24:14Speaker 1: travel come to us, Okay, exactly exactly. That's why I
- 24:18Speaker 1: say we are we are not discriminating. It is that's
- 24:23Speaker 1: where the ASO, the specialty groups come into because like yourself,
- 24:27Speaker 1: you were you moved to New York because you were
- 24:30Speaker 1: on assignment um with the Steve Harvey Morning Show. So
- 24:33Speaker 1: if someone's even you know, moving just for a few
- 24:35Speaker 1: months because they're on set, or if you just need
- 24:38Speaker 1: a lady's day retreat um, you know, so it doesn't
- 24:42Speaker 1: matter the gamut. You just give me a call. So
- 24:44Speaker 1: the number is seven one three two five one five
- 24:48Speaker 1: five five, and we can put it together with our
- 24:52Speaker 1: team and consult and give you the best deals. And
- 24:56Speaker 1: it's going to save you so much time. Because I
- 24:58Speaker 1: talked to so many church administr readers and they're pulling
- 25:01Speaker 1: the hair outs trying to make sure they get the
- 25:03Speaker 1: best deals going through our tineraries and stuff, So that's
- 25:06Speaker 1: something that we can help and take care of. And
- 25:08Speaker 1: then the benefit also of our company is that we
- 25:11Speaker 1: like to give back. So the more services that you
- 25:14Speaker 1: go through the Sweet Faith and use, the more we're
- 25:16Speaker 1: able to actually give back to your church, give back
- 25:19Speaker 1: to your church, your charity. Um. Of course, I don't
- 25:22Speaker 1: know too many churches who don't have a building fund, um,
- 25:26Speaker 1: you know. So it's all about giving back. So that's
- 25:29Speaker 1: one of the things that we also inspired to do.
- 25:31Speaker 1: So when you use us, we're actually given a portion
- 25:34Speaker 1: of those proceeds back. My own phone is a good
- 25:37Speaker 1: friend of mine. Uh of known since two thousand five.
- 25:39Speaker 1: She's been in hospitality industry for seventeen years. She's hand
- 25:43Speaker 1: a little millions, many million dollar accounts, multimillion dollar accounts,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and in the relocation, fashion, food and beverage, real estate,
- 25:49Speaker 1: and consumer product industries. Through her temporary housing career. Her
- 25:53Speaker 1: knowledge provides NonStop luxury service at every level. She's taking
- 25:57Speaker 1: care of me in New York City, in Chicago, anywhere, flights, hotels,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and car rentals. She's been there for me. I want
- 26:03Speaker 1: to bring you back on another interview because I want
- 26:06Speaker 1: to talk about your relationship with just for success, but
- 26:09Speaker 1: I want to just focus on this whole uh, this
- 26:11Speaker 1: whole thing and congratulations and uh, you know I'm here
- 26:14Speaker 1: for you. I'm so proud of you. Um, your future
- 26:17Speaker 1: is going to be even bigger. I showed people your
- 26:19Speaker 1: picture and they went, how is she twenty one? You
- 26:21Speaker 1: still look fantastic? Look at it looks one like she
- 26:29Speaker 1: just graduated from college. Continue, great success is gonna reach
- 26:33Speaker 1: out to you in guards to Uh, let's get this
- 26:35Speaker 1: on social media. Please use me, my friend, God, that's
- 26:38Speaker 1: my that's my purpose of life is to give people
- 26:40Speaker 1: an opportunity to be successful. Your faith based, I'm faithing.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I'm a faith giver. Okay, you still talk to me.
- 26:46Speaker 1: I appreciate Bye. Bye, keep winning everybody. We'll be right
- 26:56Speaker 1: back with more from mar Sean McDonald and money making conversations.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Don't touch that doubt. Yeah, we sort of stopped paying
- 27:04Speaker 1: attention and racked up a lot of debt. Yeah, it
- 27:06Speaker 1: was stressful. He blamed me for my credit card debt
- 27:09Speaker 1: and I blamed him for building that man cave. It's awesome. Anyway,
- 27:12Speaker 1: we stopped blaming each other. Did our homework and read
- 27:15Speaker 1: that a smart way to consolidate debt is to get
- 27:17Speaker 1: a fixed rate loan. But getting a loan was brutal
- 27:21Speaker 1: and a time drain. So I was in my man
- 27:23Speaker 1: cave researching personal loans and I found best Egg. They
- 27:26Speaker 1: have an A plus rating with the B B B
- 27:29Speaker 1: and best Egg handles everything online start to finish, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: Consumer Affairs gave best Egg five stars for their easy
- 27:35Speaker 1: online loan app and we could be approved and funded
- 27:37Speaker 1: and as little as one business day. I applied online
- 27:40Speaker 1: with no impact my credit score. She always takes credit
- 27:43Speaker 1: for my wins. But long story short, she got an
- 27:46Speaker 1: awesome loan, paid off our cards and some bills while

- 29:39Speaker 1: a millions followed you know, you know broke people, just
- 29:41Speaker 1: how people follow my learned Please Working. The main conversation,
- 29:45Speaker 1: Sereda Pittman, Thank you so much for having Savannah Georgia.
- 29:49Speaker 1: That's why I see you know you're my studios, Savannah Georgia,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and just happened to run. I didn't run into you
- 29:55Speaker 1: because I have an office over at Battery Park and
- 29:57Speaker 1: he was over there during an interview in that building
- 29:59Speaker 1: and I didn't know using that doing the build. I
- 30:01Speaker 1: just normal man, Michael over here the radio station over there.
- 30:04Speaker 1: So welcome to Money Making Conversation. Thank you. I'm honored
- 30:07Speaker 1: and humble to be here. I like the word humble,
- 30:09Speaker 1: honored and the humble that means I'm doing something in
- 30:11Speaker 1: life to make you want to say those things. I'm
- 30:13Speaker 1: honored to have you on this show because you give
- 30:15Speaker 1: information to my guests about and motivate them, because what
- 30:18Speaker 1: I've discovered is that a lot of people always want
- 30:21Speaker 1: me to mentor them, you know, And this shows really
- 30:24Speaker 1: a show about mentorship because I can't. I can't guide people.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I can't sit down, and there a lot of people
- 30:30Speaker 1: basically just need to hear the story over and over
- 30:33Speaker 1: again before they get it and realize that's their story.
- 30:36Speaker 1: What is your story? Ms? Pittman, My story is one
- 30:40Speaker 1: like a lot of people starting I started doing here
- 30:43Speaker 1: at home, so that's my story again. I started doinging
- 30:46Speaker 1: hair with a ball here that man, that's always and
- 30:49Speaker 1: it looks good. But I started doing here in my
- 30:54Speaker 1: parents bathroom in middle school. And then I went from
- 30:57Speaker 1: doing hair to go into cosmetology school, now technologist school, aesthetics, massage, therapy, kinesiology,
- 31:03Speaker 1: holistic here care practitioner, and Trichology school. So I've been
- 31:06Speaker 1: in the health and beauty industry for a long time.
- 31:09Speaker 1: And then I helped incorporate coaching into my business model,
- 31:12Speaker 1: which leads me to where I am today to show
- 31:14Speaker 1: other people how to incorporate coaching into their business model
- 31:17Speaker 1: to have another stream of income and have a passive
- 31:19Speaker 1: stream of income. So that's my history starting from the bathroom.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Now I'm here. So it's always about the background. My
- 31:26Speaker 1: background uh, interstity kid. Uh, six sisters, two brothers. My
- 31:30Speaker 1: father's a truck driver. My mom had a high school education. First,
- 31:33Speaker 1: more people that didn't have a vision as beyond what
- 31:36Speaker 1: they raised kids and try to give them a better
- 31:40Speaker 1: life than what they had. Okay, here you are. See
- 31:43Speaker 1: your father's here, which is fantastic when you have a
- 31:45Speaker 1: relationship with your with your father. My relationship with my
- 31:48Speaker 1: daughter that I just love. She's a she's a sawhomore
- 31:51Speaker 1: college in college. So when you started doing this hair
- 31:54Speaker 1: in the bathroom, you know, you know, you're tying up
- 31:56Speaker 1: the bathroom and I did. I'm the baby of four. Sorry,
- 32:00Speaker 1: have trying up the bar with just ha absolutely not
- 32:04Speaker 1: sharing any profits. Okay, so tell me about that little
- 32:07Speaker 1: moment there. Well they gotta understanding that. Okay. Well I
- 32:14Speaker 1: started to bathroom and then my mom took me to
- 32:16Speaker 1: the kitchen. I graduated to the kitchen. You know, back
- 32:18Speaker 1: in the day, he used to have those ponytailers used
- 32:20Speaker 1: to put in the microwave, you know, So I learned
- 32:23Speaker 1: how to perfect that right before I get burned. So
- 32:25Speaker 1: that was my go to hairstyle. But then my mom
- 32:28Speaker 1: was like, okay, you need to get out of my
- 32:29Speaker 1: kitchen too, So then I started going to the people's
- 32:32Speaker 1: homes and then my dad didn't like that side of
- 32:35Speaker 1: It's like, okay, now you need to get in the
- 32:36Speaker 1: salon because you don't know who's how she's going. So
- 32:39Speaker 1: I did um and my parents was just like, if
- 32:42Speaker 1: you're gonna do it, take it to the next up.
- 32:43Speaker 1: First of all, my dad was like, you're doing hair
- 32:45Speaker 1: like what Like he wanted me to really pursue going
- 32:48Speaker 1: to college first, but he supported it. My mom was like,
- 32:51Speaker 1: if you're going to do you're not going to do
- 32:52Speaker 1: one kind of hair. You're gonna learn how to do
- 32:54Speaker 1: everyone's hair. You're going to be diverse and just don't
- 32:56Speaker 1: be the stereotypical hair scholars. So they me and thankfully
- 33:01Speaker 1: I got to see my mom. She's an entrepreneurship, had
- 33:03Speaker 1: a daycare. My dad worked on the railroad and its Savannah.
- 33:06Speaker 1: That was like one of the job for the black
- 33:09Speaker 1: man to have. That was like the jobs. So him,
- 33:12Speaker 1: he dressed the dressed ushn So you know, that's what
- 33:18Speaker 1: I saw, and in mediocrity was not celebrated in our house.
- 33:22Speaker 1: So you know, we didn't get celebration for doing what
- 33:25Speaker 1: was expected of us. Now it's interesting because I look
- 33:28Speaker 1: at what you what you accomplished it like my parents.
- 33:31Speaker 1: You know, my mom was just you know, do the
- 33:33Speaker 1: badge and then the hot iron and then I had
- 33:38Speaker 1: all that done in my hair. When I wanted to win,
- 33:40Speaker 1: it was flowing, you know, had the hot irons. Is
- 33:42Speaker 1: that what happened? Everything happened this head. I got the
- 33:45Speaker 1: size burnt out. You know that when you put that
- 33:48Speaker 1: little that that that peram on my hou don't stay
- 33:52Speaker 1: and then you know later stay calmed down, it's gonna
- 33:59Speaker 1: be all good. Mama, my head burned it up. Any baby,
- 34:02Speaker 1: you gotta go through the bird. You gotta go through
- 34:03Speaker 1: the bird to get it right. So I know that
- 34:07Speaker 1: that that that that in the African American community, home
- 34:10Speaker 1: has style and was something that a lot of people
- 34:13Speaker 1: did and then you, as a young person, turned it
- 34:15Speaker 1: into a business. What clicked in your mind that made
- 34:18Speaker 1: you I could make this a business besides just doing
- 34:21Speaker 1: people favors. There wasn't an option Like in my house.
- 34:26Speaker 1: It was because of my upbringing. It was like, you're
- 34:28Speaker 1: not just going to do it to do it. What's
- 34:30Speaker 1: your next move? What's you're gonna have a career? Because
- 34:32Speaker 1: you couldn't stay there, you know, And I didn't see
- 34:36Speaker 1: my mom failed or my dad failed. I had my
- 34:38Speaker 1: grandmother who was an entrepreneur, so I was pretty much
- 34:40Speaker 1: the third generation entrepreneur. So that's all I knew. How
- 34:44Speaker 1: do you launch a business? Then, with that being said,
- 34:46Speaker 1: with all this information you're giving out as coach coach Pittman, Okay,
- 34:50Speaker 1: rus Sean McDonald, I have all these great ideas. People
- 34:54Speaker 1: tell me or you're gonna make money one day, and
- 34:56Speaker 1: I was just gonna throw out a business. Let's say
- 34:59Speaker 1: I want to lunch. And it's not trying to hold
- 35:01Speaker 1: you accountable, but I want to launch me because people
- 35:04Speaker 1: say I can bake war winning baker. People always ask me, Roshan,
- 35:09Speaker 1: I know you're gonna open the restaurant. I know, well,
- 35:11Speaker 1: how can I buy those cakes? Did you make those cheesecakes?
- 35:14Speaker 1: They killer? I want to? I want to. I want
- 35:16Speaker 1: to open a cheesecake business. How why would I launch that? What? What? What? What?
- 35:21Speaker 1: What would be the mistakes I would make? Because right now,
- 35:24Speaker 1: being driven by my friends absolutely absolutely telling me I
- 35:29Speaker 1: should do this nobody, nobody from Baker hadn't told me
- 35:32Speaker 1: about alone. I don't know about the manufacturer. I'm gonna
- 35:35Speaker 1: mask produce these things. What how would I launch that?
- 35:39Speaker 1: I would say what I teaches? Ranking it? What can
- 35:41Speaker 1: you do right now with what you have? So you
- 35:43Speaker 1: have all these great ideas, rank them for the number three.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Number three is something that I could do right now
- 35:48Speaker 1: with what I have. So if I'm a great baker,
- 35:50Speaker 1: besides my friends, who else knows that I'm a great baker?
- 35:53Speaker 1: So you can build start building relationships. Go to car dealerships,
- 35:56Speaker 1: go to restaurants, give them your stuff for free. People
- 35:58Speaker 1: don't like doing that, but go head and the people
- 36:01Speaker 1: that I could get some testimonials. That way, you can
- 36:03Speaker 1: build up some testimonials. Create your Facebook page, put your
- 36:05Speaker 1: pictures of your cakes, make them look pretty. And then
- 36:08Speaker 1: as you start doing that, hand your cards out and
- 36:10Speaker 1: start small because you jump out there. Figure your cost. Okay,
- 36:14Speaker 1: this is how much it's going to cost. Can you
- 36:16Speaker 1: get funding? After you get funding, what's your what's your
- 36:18Speaker 1: interest rate? How much you gotta pay? All of those
- 36:20Speaker 1: things matter, But first, initially, let people taste your product,
- 36:24Speaker 1: let people offer, and people don't want to do that
- 36:26Speaker 1: free part. We just want to jump out there and
- 36:28Speaker 1: have everybody like us. But no, start small by letting
- 36:30Speaker 1: people know who you are, gather those testimonials and build
- 36:33Speaker 1: because people say, oh, ninety seven people love this cheesecake,
- 36:37Speaker 1: Maybe I should drive slights. Now, how do we get
- 36:40Speaker 1: in touch with you? You can go to get coached
- 36:42Speaker 1: up dot com. Anyone that say that too fair to
- 36:46Speaker 1: get coached up dot com as a coach with the

- 37:11Speaker 1: to use technology, cultivate relationships, and really brand yourself in
- 37:15Speaker 1: the best way so you can then go to a
- 37:17Speaker 1: Brandon coach. Secondly, you can go to Sereda Pittman s
- 37:20Speaker 1: A R I T A p I T T m
- 37:23Speaker 1: A N dot com to connect with me and our
- 37:25Speaker 1: big event that's coming up in Atlanta in just a
- 37:27Speaker 1: few weeks. It's Success without Walls dot Com. Get a
- 37:31Speaker 1: ticket being the House. It's in January. Okay, cool, okay,
- 37:35Speaker 1: told us about that. Tell us about that in the
- 37:37Speaker 1: exact day if you have it. It's January eighteenth and
- 37:40Speaker 1: nineteenth is at the Windham Galleria here in Atlanta. It's
- 37:43Speaker 1: two days pack of business building. We're going to have fun.

- 37:55Speaker 1: the accountants and make sure that you have a business
- 37:58Speaker 1: not an expensive hobby. Some any of us don't know
- 38:00Speaker 1: how to scale our businesses. But I teach scalability, sustainability,
- 38:04Speaker 1: and sell ability. Someday you may have to sell your
- 38:06Speaker 1: business and learn how to create a business that someone
- 38:09Speaker 1: else besides you would like it. And I only like it.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Pay you for it. Now, you know you gotta come
- 38:12Speaker 1: back on the show, absolutely, because see right now people
- 38:15Speaker 1: thinking about Christmas presents and they're trying to get right
- 38:18Speaker 1: by the family. Now January, that's when people thought at
- 38:22Speaker 1: that first quarter how to fix their careers, how to,
- 38:24Speaker 1: how to lose weight, how to be successful. So we're
- 38:27Speaker 1: gonna rebook her on the show a week or two before. Okay,
- 38:31Speaker 1: give everybody the exact date again, January eighteenth and nineteenth.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I tell people, don't let's sand the claus. Get your money.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Make sure that you do something so you have some
- 38:39Speaker 1: money in February, the New Year's you're gonna get the money.
- 38:44Speaker 1: You're talking to them crazy people out that. That's why
- 38:46Speaker 1: I want to bring you back. And I'm great to
- 38:48Speaker 1: have you on because we landed, were laying a were
- 38:50Speaker 1: laying the thought process in place that this is something
- 38:52Speaker 1: that Rushan McDonald believes in. Rashan McDonald feels this is
- 38:55Speaker 1: a need in your life. Gather information, and when you
- 38:58Speaker 1: come back, we're gonna be pushing the whole event at
- 39:01Speaker 1: the at the Windham Galleria. Absolutely, I've been listening. Now
- 39:09Speaker 1: now that I'm sure's a fee and cann't go to
- 39:12Speaker 1: the website now, yes, they could go to Success without
- 39:14Speaker 1: Walls dot Com. Now go ahead and secure your ticket.
- 39:17Speaker 1: You're going to have fun, but you're also going to
- 39:19Speaker 1: walk away knowing that you're set up for success without walls.
- 39:22Speaker 1: In twenty nineteen. Now tell me about peer groups, you know,
- 39:25Speaker 1: I call the relationships or are we staying the same
- 39:28Speaker 1: thing peer group relationship? Well, I also do a subject
- 39:32Speaker 1: teaching subject matter teacher called the power of the Peer.
- 39:34Speaker 1: We don't understand that if we are the smartest person
- 39:37Speaker 1: in the room, it is only profitable if you're paying
- 39:39Speaker 1: everyone else to be there. So many times we do
- 39:42Speaker 1: not put ourselves in environments that we can become sharpened
- 39:45Speaker 1: and become smarter. So I tell people, if you don't
- 39:47Speaker 1: want to win, hang out with people that are at
- 39:49Speaker 1: your same level. Put yourself in an environment that's going
- 39:52Speaker 1: to stretch you, that's going to help you be better.
- 39:54Speaker 1: And that's what I teach. I don't ever just want
- 39:56Speaker 1: to be the smartest person in the room again, unless
- 39:58Speaker 1: everybody is coming there to he or me. But I
- 40:00Speaker 1: put myself in an environment that forces me to stay humble.
- 40:03Speaker 1: It keeps me real, it keeps me relatable, and I
- 40:05Speaker 1: know that I'm not the only person that knows everything. Well.
- 40:08Speaker 1: I agree with that, you know, I I know that
- 40:11Speaker 1: I have to. I've only gotten better by surrounding myself
- 40:14Speaker 1: with more and more people who are critical of MEA
- 40:18Speaker 1: questioned me, You know they're kind of tentative saying that,
- 40:21Speaker 1: because you know Sean mcgun I have to tell him,
- 40:23Speaker 1: tell me if it's not right. I almost have to
- 40:25Speaker 1: demand that information from them because of the fact that
- 40:28Speaker 1: if you keep thinking that you know your kool aid
- 40:30Speaker 1: is best kool aid, and you're gonna keep drinking, it
- 40:33Speaker 1: might be a little better. Absolutely, But people afraid to
- 40:35Speaker 1: tell you a bit they're good, then throw it in
- 40:37Speaker 1: the trash and walk out the back door. That's the
- 40:39Speaker 1: worst cooler the application of my life. That's what people
- 40:41Speaker 1: fail in so many ways. Now you've been you're you're
- 40:44Speaker 1: the coach. Give out how we can contact you one
- 40:47Speaker 1: more time, give out the event and so we can
- 40:49Speaker 1: reschedule to come back in January. Already know my buddy, Now,
- 40:52Speaker 1: miss petting good, I'm good coming back in January. Cool.
- 40:59Speaker 1: I love it, But it's get coached c O A
- 41:03Speaker 1: C H E. D. Get coached up dot com Serena
- 41:06Speaker 1: Pittman dot com, and the event is success without Walls
- 41:09Speaker 1: dot com January eighteenth and nineteenth in the beautiful city
- 41:13Speaker 1: of Atlanta, Well Savannah, Georgia. I know you gotta bring
- 41:17Speaker 1: up is Croaker's and is Croaker's. Croaker's as a restaurant.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I know, I know, it's a Richmond. I was trying
- 41:24Speaker 1: to give me some corn, bring and bring it out here.
- 41:27Speaker 1: I just got struggled on my own. But again, thank
- 41:30Speaker 1: you for being on my show, making money making conversation,
- 41:33Speaker 1: the brand that people can believe. We'll be right back
- 41:38Speaker 1: with more from Marsan McDonald. The money making Conversations. Don't
- 41:41Speaker 1: touch that down. Yeah, we sort of stopped paying attention
- 41:45Speaker 1: and wracked up a lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful.
- 41:48Speaker 1: He blamed me for my credit card debt and I
- 41:50Speaker 1: blamed him for building that man cave. It's awesome. Anyway,
- 41:53Speaker 1: we stopped blaming each other, did our homework and read
- 41:56Speaker 1: that a smart way to consolidate debt is to get
- 41:59Speaker 1: a fixed rate loan. But getting a loan was brutal
- 42:02Speaker 1: and a time drain. So I was in my man
- 42:04Speaker 1: cave researching personal loans and I found best Egg. They
- 42:07Speaker 1: have an A plus rating with the B B B
- 42:10Speaker 1: and best Egg handles everything online, start to finish, and
- 42:13Speaker 1: Consumer Affairs gave best Egg five stars for their easy
- 42:16Speaker 1: online Loan app. And we could be approved and funded
- 42:19Speaker 1: and as little as one business day. I applied online
- 42:21Speaker 1: with no impact to my credit score. She always takes
- 42:24Speaker 1: credit from my wins. But long story short, she got
- 42:27Speaker 1: an awesome loan, paid off our cards and some bills
- 42:30Speaker 1: while lowering our monthly payment. The Best Egg loan was
- 42:33Speaker 1: like a total fresh start. Visit best egg dot com
- 42:36Speaker 1: slash blue best egg dot com slash blue. Subject to
- 42:41Speaker 1: credit approval actual rates, visa approval times will vary, drama
- 42:53Speaker 1: roll Okay, thank you very okay, thank you very much.
- 42:56Speaker 1: My next dance was raising South Center l A. There
- 42:58Speaker 1: you go, and his sociology's degree from Columbia University. That's
- 43:03Speaker 1: in New York City, y'all. He was an all pro
- 43:06Speaker 1: who played ten years in the NFL for four different teams.
- 43:09Speaker 1: He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and
- 43:11Speaker 1: son and a baby on the way. Because we read
- 43:14Speaker 1: the books. If you read the book, you know about
- 43:16Speaker 1: that his daughter attends his daughter's oldest daughter attends UH
- 43:20Speaker 1: attract scholarship. I believe at the University of Connecticut. He
- 43:23Speaker 1: can find. You can find him starring on Foxes TV
- 43:27Speaker 1: show Speak for Yourself, co hosted by Marcellus Wiley. That's
- 43:30Speaker 1: Who's on the phone and Jason Whitlock on Fox Sports,
- 43:33Speaker 1: please work with the money Made Conversation for the second time,
- 43:36Speaker 1: Return of Parents. Marcellus Wiley, My man, I love right there. Well,
- 43:46Speaker 1: well I'll tell you some man Um. First of all,
- 43:49Speaker 1: this you know your sociology degree. My mind was the
- 43:52Speaker 1: sociology we always got that. Let's let's let's talk a
- 43:56Speaker 1: little bit about that, because I feel that because you
- 43:59Speaker 1: got a degree is so geology which is a plays
- 44:02Speaker 1: a part in your book, that that that really allows
- 44:05Speaker 1: you to tap into what you see in everyday life
- 44:08Speaker 1: and also how you how you the person on the day,
- 44:11Speaker 1: How is important to getting that degree in sociology has
- 44:14Speaker 1: been to you for you? Yeah, it's it's been critical
- 44:18Speaker 1: because it's it's a degree that gives you a universal
- 44:22Speaker 1: understanding of people and the patterns of life and what
- 44:26Speaker 1: really shapes us and influences us as as individuals. Um,
- 44:32Speaker 1: you really learn something that I think comes back from
- 44:36Speaker 1: biblical times where there are more similarities than differences and
- 44:41Speaker 1: everyone so I'm able to find those commonalities and try
- 44:46Speaker 1: to bring like minds together even though we may have
- 44:49Speaker 1: different experiences. So the sociology background really points out those
- 44:57Speaker 1: elements in our everyday existence, whether it's go to the
- 45:01Speaker 1: grocery store, and why are certain items in the front
- 45:04Speaker 1: and certain items in the back. And when you open
- 45:07Speaker 1: the magazine, why do they have certain articles here and
- 45:09Speaker 1: certain articles there? Every single facet of life someone that
- 45:13Speaker 1: has studied that behavior to try and have the most impact,
- 45:18Speaker 1: the maximum impact. And I'm able to know some of
- 45:20Speaker 1: those things. Yeah, and that's really amazing. Now, your book,
- 45:23Speaker 1: that's why you're calling me. You know, I know we
- 45:25Speaker 1: gotta love for each other, but you call about this book.
- 45:27Speaker 1: We gotta sell some books. That's why I never shut
- 45:32Speaker 1: up The Life, Opinions and Unexpected Adventures of an NFL Outlet.
- 45:38Speaker 1: My man, why did you write this book? I wrote
- 45:43Speaker 1: this book to inspire everyone, no matter what adversity they face,
- 45:48Speaker 1: no matter what age group, what circumstances you come from.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Uh and simple. I'm a guy from Compton who who's
- 45:59Speaker 1: mother and father wanted a better life for me, and
- 46:02Speaker 1: they scraped together their pinies and took us from Compton
- 46:06Speaker 1: to South Central. And that may now say it seemed
- 46:09Speaker 1: like a huge leap to people, but you know, in
- 46:12Speaker 1: our reality, it's crazy. My grandmother started this mindset. She
- 46:17Speaker 1: moved from Watts in the sixties to Compton with the
- 46:21Speaker 1: same mindset. She wanted a better life for her family.
- 46:25Speaker 1: And my my story is just the fork in a
- 46:28Speaker 1: roll kid who decided to use his talents to plant
- 46:33Speaker 1: and plan away out of the neighborhood to give himself
- 46:37Speaker 1: and his family a chance to live a better life
- 46:41Speaker 1: in better experiences and circumstances. So I became very responsible
- 46:46Speaker 1: for my talents. I didn't waste them. I didn't take
- 46:49Speaker 1: them for granted. I try to maximize them and allow
- 46:53Speaker 1: them to give me an opportunity to make it to
- 46:56Speaker 1: to realize my dreams. And the reason I wrote The
- 46:59Speaker 1: Blue Kids it simply I'm a kid who figured this out,
- 47:05Speaker 1: made sure he understood his identity, what his role was
- 47:08Speaker 1: in the family, and took full advantage of it. And
- 47:11Speaker 1: I want to empower everyone in their circumstances, no matter
- 47:15Speaker 1: how dire that those circumstances may look, that you can
- 47:20Speaker 1: become anything you want. And I know it sounds cliche,
- 47:23Speaker 1: but trust me, man, I am a walking, living existence
- 47:27Speaker 1: of that same cliche. And I want to inspire others.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Will you do that for me, because it's really funny
- 47:33Speaker 1: when I read the book, Well, you had me at
- 47:35Speaker 1: the opening. You know, here's the funds day. They sent
- 47:38Speaker 1: me a link to get the book for free, right,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and so I couldn't figure it out. And I read
- 47:42Speaker 1: the opening where you were sitting in your house waiting
- 47:45Speaker 1: to be called, and then then I clicked a little
- 47:48Speaker 1: part and read sample, and it just took me to
- 47:50Speaker 1: that part that hold on, holdo, holo, hold on, and
- 47:53Speaker 1: I bought the book. I went on and bought the
- 47:55Speaker 1: book because first, first of all, you're my boy. Secondly,
- 47:59Speaker 1: you have me in the beginning, so I had to
- 48:01Speaker 1: read this book now. And so so the things is,
- 48:05Speaker 1: this is the thing about it. It was very similar
- 48:06Speaker 1: because I come from the hood. I grew up in Hereford,
- 48:08Speaker 1: and just like your your parents, they moved me to
- 48:11Speaker 1: Northeast and somebody said that wasn't much of an upgrade,
- 48:14Speaker 1: but they thought they wanted to give me a better
- 48:16Speaker 1: opportunity to succeed. But things that the things that I
- 48:20Speaker 1: stood out for me was that you said, athletes took
- 48:22Speaker 1: your athletics took you out. But you're a very smart guy.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Let's not unders sail your intellect, your intelligence, your your
- 48:30Speaker 1: ability to get grades under in the circumstances and that's
- 48:33Speaker 1: what I think that on our last call that we
- 48:36Speaker 1: talked about, is that so many times standing in the hood,
- 48:39Speaker 1: growing up in the hood, people only see one type
- 48:42Speaker 1: of person, and we know there are so many diamonds
- 48:45Speaker 1: in the hood that can sometimes be you know, the
- 48:49Speaker 1: be damaged because of the fact they're not giving the
- 48:52Speaker 1: proper opportunity to succeed. Sports gave you your opportunity and
- 48:55Speaker 1: you got out and uh and then you on this
- 48:58Speaker 1: radio show talking about your life ten years in NFL.
- 49:02Speaker 1: You know, beautiful daughter who's attending a tract scholarship at
- 49:05Speaker 1: the University of Connecticut, a wife who's a nurse anesthesiastic
- 49:10Speaker 1: in its thesis. Right, Yeah, I know, man, I was
- 49:17Speaker 1: working with him, and I was working with him, man.
- 49:18Speaker 1: But but you know, you don't even know that if
- 49:20Speaker 1: you read the book. Don't see what I'm saying. You
- 49:21Speaker 1: don't know that if you read the book. You gotta
- 49:23Speaker 1: read the book. But it's the funny part. But in
- 49:27Speaker 1: the beginning, in the early parts of the book, and
- 49:29Speaker 1: I'm not gonna tell everybody book, but there's certain things
- 49:31Speaker 1: that you have to know about this young man and
- 49:34Speaker 1: in his journey. And it was like when I was
- 49:37Speaker 1: his sister there used to there, used to come walk
- 49:39Speaker 1: through school. They get beat up every day from the
- 49:41Speaker 1: fact they got beat up for four straight weeks, okay.
- 49:44Speaker 1: And in my when I was growing up in the hood,
- 49:47Speaker 1: it was this guy. This guy would pas me down
- 49:49Speaker 1: on the corner like I like he like I was
- 49:53Speaker 1: like he was the police every day. I our dread walking.
- 49:59Speaker 1: I mean, see, at least Marcelis just tell his sister
- 50:02Speaker 1: to go another way. She wouldn't go another way. We're
- 50:05Speaker 1: gonna walk down the street. See, I tried to go
- 50:07Speaker 1: all the way. He found me. He found me every time.
- 50:11Speaker 1: So I found that so relatable to to that that's
- 50:15Speaker 1: how the hood is. The hood is is that either
- 50:17Speaker 1: stand up and deal with it or runaway and become
- 50:20Speaker 1: a victim of it. And that's and you never became
- 50:24Speaker 1: a victim of it. And that's why I really appreciate
- 50:26Speaker 1: at the beginning of the book, and tell me about that.
- 50:30Speaker 1: You said a lot there, brother, Let me go back
- 50:33Speaker 1: to the beginning point. Uh. Yeah, my talents. When I
- 50:36Speaker 1: say talents, I mean to plural one and two. My
- 50:41Speaker 1: talents were academics and my talents were athletics. So I
- 50:45Speaker 1: was a very good football player, damn good, super fast
- 50:49Speaker 1: as a kid, and I was super smart, um smart
- 50:53Speaker 1: because I not so much. I was born a genius,
- 50:57Speaker 1: but I was a kid in the front of the
- 50:58Speaker 1: class raising his hand asking why I was a curious kid.
- 51:03Speaker 1: So I coupled my two talents, which was my academics
- 51:06Speaker 1: and athletics, and I decided to play the game of
- 51:09Speaker 1: life in a short and in a long game. My
- 51:13Speaker 1: short game was gonna play football. That was gonna be
- 51:16Speaker 1: my means to an end. A lot of people in
- 51:19Speaker 1: the hood look at sports and entertainment as the end game,
- 51:23Speaker 1: and I'm like, no, it's a means to an end. Um.
- 51:26Speaker 1: So I used football to get us immediately out of
- 51:30Speaker 1: the hood, to give me scholarship opportunities, to give me
- 51:33Speaker 1: the millions of dollars initially to help my family and
- 51:37Speaker 1: start generational wealth. Excuse me. That was That was football,
- 51:42Speaker 1: But the long game was Columbia. The long game was
- 51:46Speaker 1: my Ivy League education. A long game was opening up doors,
- 51:50Speaker 1: having people respect my intelligence, to presume my intelligence before
- 51:55Speaker 1: they even meet me. Based off a degree, based off
- 51:58Speaker 1: of schooling of the journey in the in the in
- 52:02Speaker 1: the articulation, and the characterization he has for both his
- 52:06Speaker 1: parents in the book is rather amazing. Now, the book
- 52:09Speaker 1: title never Shut Up, I have to assume that that
- 52:12Speaker 1: title came from You're not You're not shutting up with
- 52:17Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys. Is that's why that title came from.
- 52:20Speaker 1: It was just your whole lifestyle because you didn't shut
- 52:22Speaker 1: up when your teammate told you to shut up. Yeah,
- 52:27Speaker 1: that was one. It certainly has shown his ugly head
- 52:33Speaker 1: and at times this beautiful head in my life. But
- 52:37Speaker 1: the core of never Shut Up is for everyone. Um,
- 52:40Speaker 1: this world tried to tell me, The world tried to
- 52:42Speaker 1: tell me at a young age, who I had to be,
- 52:45Speaker 1: who I could be, and who I couldn't be. Uh.
- 52:48Speaker 1: The stereotypes, the statistics, everything was telling me what I
- 52:52Speaker 1: was going to be. But my essence was saying something different.
- 52:57Speaker 1: My responsibility to my family and to myself with saying
- 53:01Speaker 1: something different. So never shut Up comes from the fact
- 53:04Speaker 1: that you tell the world who you want to be.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Don't let the world tell you. Don't let the world
- 53:10Speaker 1: dictate circumstances to you, dictate terms and they will. The
- 53:14Speaker 1: world would tell you you're gonna be a gang banger bro.
- 53:16Speaker 1: The world would tell you all you are as a
- 53:18Speaker 1: football player, the world would tell you all you're gonna
- 53:21Speaker 1: be is just this rapper or or you know what
- 53:23Speaker 1: the world's gonna tell you. Your daddy wasn't here for you.
- 53:26Speaker 1: You're not gonna be anything in this world like this
- 53:29Speaker 1: world would tell you so much. Never shut up telling
- 53:33Speaker 1: the world what you're gonna be, and don't stop till
- 53:36Speaker 1: you go get it. It's just that simple, marcellus. Thank
- 53:40Speaker 1: you for calling the show man. Give me those autog

- 53:52Speaker 1: daughter and yukon and keep winning, Keep winning, marcellus. We'll
- 53:57Speaker 1: be right back with more from McDonald and money making conversations. Yeah,
- 54:02Speaker 1: we sort of stopped paying attention and racked up a
- 54:04Speaker 1: lot of debt. Yeah, it was stressful. He blamed me
- 54:07Speaker 1: for my credit card debt and I blamed him for
- 54:09Speaker 1: building that man cave. It's awesome. Anyway, we stopped blaming
- 54:12Speaker 1: each other, did our homework and read that a smart
- 54:15Speaker 1: way to consolidate debt is to get a fixed rate loan.
- 54:18Speaker 1: But getting a loan was brutal and a time drain.
- 54:21Speaker 1: So I was in my man cave researching personal loans
