- 2:44Speaker 1: your Feet, Dr Yorlanda Ratler. Are we already? You know there? Okay? Cool,
- 2:50Speaker 1: he's here. Cool, get this rolling, met this man. I'm
- 2:53Speaker 1: gonna bring it up again. Twelve UH I was UM
- 2:57Speaker 1: producing and UH launched the Steve her Mentory Camp in Dallas, Texas,
- 3:02Speaker 1: right outside of Dallas, Texas. UH we would UH bringing
- 3:06Speaker 1: hundred boards and huntry plus boys fly him up to
- 3:09Speaker 1: the camp in Dallas. Been a three day weekend where
- 3:12Speaker 1: they would UH single boards who were households with led
- 3:17Speaker 1: by single moms. And he came in and he spoke
- 3:20Speaker 1: that weekend. That's first time I got an introduction to
- 3:23Speaker 1: this young man and he sat down. I don't know
- 3:24Speaker 1: if he remembers. You know, he's running to a lot
- 3:27Speaker 1: of people, but I've been I've been getting Texas talking
- 3:31Speaker 1: about his new career, motivational learning, how to get your
- 3:35Speaker 1: financial gain right. Let's get these Texas on the regular bastions.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I told my Steff, I say, hey, I'm getting these
- 3:39Speaker 1: texts from Freeway Rick Cross about the motivational I said,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I've seen this guys in two Can we get him
- 3:45Speaker 1: on the show. So my next guest is a prison
- 3:48Speaker 1: reform activist, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. He served a total
- 3:52Speaker 1: twenty years behind bars, where six of the inmates are
- 3:56Speaker 1: functionally illiterate. He only served fourteen years of a life sentence.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Today he speaks about the power of literacy wherever he goes.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Please work with the money making conversation Freeway Rick Ross induction.
- 4:12Speaker 1: I know you don't remember it, Freeway. You know, I
- 4:13Speaker 1: know you don't remember it, but man, I tell you
- 4:16Speaker 1: it was very enlightened when I met you because uh,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you know you you were still finding yourself, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: uh in regard to what was your path if I'm speaking,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but you you remember absolutely, I remember, because you know
- 4:30Speaker 1: you was angry. Uh you know, you know and uh
- 4:33Speaker 1: you wash and I won't I won't say confused, but
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know, you know, like I said, that was like
- 4:38Speaker 1: roughly three years from your from you being released from prison,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and you were there to talk to these young men
- 4:44Speaker 1: and you know, let them know the options there. There
- 4:46Speaker 1: are a lot of options out there, but one option
- 4:48Speaker 1: you're trying to get them to understand is that not
- 4:51Speaker 1: your option? Correct? And I was going through a lot
- 4:54Speaker 1: of stuff too. You know. I don't know if you
- 4:56Speaker 1: saw the documentary on Netflix, but my documentary on Netflix
- 4:59Speaker 1: right now. Then one documentary on Netflix. Well you know
- 5:03Speaker 1: I saw that you're talking a freeway cracking the system. Yeah,
- 5:08Speaker 1: I saw. I saw. Let's talk about that a little
- 5:10Speaker 1: bit because I saw it, uh so twice, because you know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: when you run into people and you meet people, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I got to see I. I got to see the
- 5:18Speaker 1: real person and you I got to see you, uh
- 5:20Speaker 1: talk about some stuff where you were trying to take
- 5:23Speaker 1: your life. And then I see this documentary, because when
- 5:26Speaker 1: I saw it it was kind of like divided. I
- 5:28Speaker 1: wouldn't say and you can stop me. It was like
- 5:30Speaker 1: four four parts to me. It was the early part,
- 5:32Speaker 1: you know, when you was trying to be attended. It
- 5:34Speaker 1: was just like a typical teenager going through life. You know,
- 5:37Speaker 1: you was a very talented tennis player. And then when
- 5:40Speaker 1: you try to go to the next day in life,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, you have to admit that you were illiterate.
- 5:43Speaker 1: You could read, and that changed the course of your life.
- 5:46Speaker 1: And then then the streatment and then the street part.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Then the second part was the you know, how do
- 5:53Speaker 1: I how do I make money? And that's when the
- 5:55Speaker 1: that's when the drug dealing start. And then the third
- 5:58Speaker 1: part is when you really be aim a big time
- 6:01Speaker 1: drug dealer. And then the fourth part is like when
- 6:04Speaker 1: you got out of prison, what do I do? What
- 6:06Speaker 1: do I? What do I do with my life now?
- 6:08Speaker 1: And and the I guess you could say, the the,
- 6:12Speaker 1: the the the the lifestyle consequences, it's what you live
- 6:16Speaker 1: in the fourth part on and and and I thought
- 6:19Speaker 1: it very powerful. What do you what is your take
- 6:21Speaker 1: on it? Yeah? I mean you you you hit it
- 6:23Speaker 1: right on the head. You know, and and and that
- 6:25Speaker 1: last part, like you were saying, I have to deal
- 6:27Speaker 1: with how do you deal with not having the resources
- 6:31Speaker 1: that you once had? And and I don't know if
- 6:34Speaker 1: you saw the documentary. I mean when I know you
- 6:36Speaker 1: saw the documentary, but it was a part in there
- 6:39Speaker 1: where they came and they put me and my mom
- 6:43Speaker 1: out of her house. Absolutely absolutely that was that was fraud,
- 6:47Speaker 1: mortgage fraud. I was also dealing with with homelessness, sir.
- 6:51Speaker 1: You know, I mean pretty much what most of the
- 6:53Speaker 1: Black America is going through right now. You know, uh,
- 6:56Speaker 1: Black America is having a really really hard time, uh
- 7:01Speaker 1: quoting with everything that's going on now. But I bring
- 7:06Speaker 1: this up to say that you know, um, you know
- 7:09Speaker 1: you you we talked about you know, Narcos is a
- 7:12Speaker 1: very popularity series on Netflix. And look at your lifestyle
- 7:17Speaker 1: and none of it ever ends positive, by the way,
- 7:20Speaker 1: And that's that's something we all need to get clear
- 7:22Speaker 1: about that. What happens to the money? You know, because
- 7:25Speaker 1: you you talk about making almost a million dollars a day.
- 7:28Speaker 1: The government says you generated over six million dollars of
- 7:31Speaker 1: UH with your drug drug sales. What happens to the money?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Where did he go, what what you know? You know what,
- 7:39Speaker 1: mom always says, a fool and his money was going
- 7:41Speaker 1: to part and uh and she was telling the true literally,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you know how tou it was. And I got to
- 7:49Speaker 1: experience that even though I had learned how to make
- 7:54Speaker 1: money selling drugs, I didn't learn how to keep the
- 7:57Speaker 1: money and and and and that's something that that we
- 8:01Speaker 1: all have to deal with as as a race and
- 8:03Speaker 1: as a society. You know, how do we keep the
- 8:05Speaker 1: money that we make? Life sentence? Yeah, your mom fell
- 8:09Speaker 1: out in court. The other boy he just got seven
- 8:11Speaker 1: and a half years, and you're walking around after getting
- 8:15Speaker 1: a life sentence. This is important because I always tell
- 8:18Speaker 1: people education is the key. It's the separating line between
- 8:22Speaker 1: what you're doing do something in life, or you're not
- 8:24Speaker 1: gonna do something life. You educated yourself in jail and
- 8:28Speaker 1: that was the turning point your life, which also led
- 8:30Speaker 1: to you getting out of jail. Correct. Correct, And it
- 8:34Speaker 1: needs to what I'm doing right now, you know with
- 8:36Speaker 1: what Without me learning how to read and educating myself,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I never would have found an issue that eventually got
- 8:42Speaker 1: me out of prison. And I never would have educated
- 8:44Speaker 1: myself to to where I am now. I don't have
- 8:46Speaker 1: a college degree nor a high school of puma. But
- 8:49Speaker 1: I read it was three hundred books. So what what
- 8:52Speaker 1: what I say is that I have the skills to
- 8:54Speaker 1: do the job, but without the degree. But you have
- 8:58Speaker 1: people listening to you. That's more important, and that's important.
- 9:01Speaker 1: That's why, that's why I have you on my show
- 9:02Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation. You know, college campuses will hear this
- 9:07Speaker 1: because I know what I'm doing, so you can you
- 9:10Speaker 1: can have a degree and not know what you do.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people they go to school
- 9:13Speaker 1: and they go to school like I went to school.
- 9:15Speaker 1: They just go to class and participate in class, but
- 9:18Speaker 1: they don't learn the lessons. And what I found out
- 9:22Speaker 1: now is that we have to learn the lessons and
- 9:24Speaker 1: that the lessons is the most invaluable, the most valuable thing.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It is not to degree. Degree is not really valuable
- 9:30Speaker 1: if you don't know what you're doing, because there's only
- 9:32Speaker 1: a matter of time before before people figure you out
- 9:34Speaker 1: and find out that that you're not who you say,
- 9:37Speaker 1: right right right. I always tell people your resume that
- 9:41Speaker 1: there's a truth resume and there's a hype resume. The
- 9:43Speaker 1: hype reson me, they're actually gonna find out the truth
- 9:45Speaker 1: about that hype resume the truth resume it will stand
- 9:49Speaker 1: this ground. Now, you want to talk about how to
- 9:52Speaker 1: build wealth financial wealth? That was a question that was
- 9:55Speaker 1: submitted as part of the things I should ask you.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Let's talk about that. How do you build financial wealth? Well,
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, one of the most important things is that
- 10:03Speaker 1: you have to learn what it is that you're doing.
- 10:05Speaker 1: The first thing you have to constantly look to improve
- 10:09Speaker 1: your ability to to make money. That means every every
- 10:14Speaker 1: single day, you have to improve yourself become better. It's
- 10:17Speaker 1: like an athlete. If if you're athletes and you don't
- 10:20Speaker 1: make the lead, and the first thing I would do
- 10:23Speaker 1: is go and start doing push ups. I would start
- 10:25Speaker 1: running more, I would start exercising boards. Well, in business,
- 10:28Speaker 1: if you don't make the cut, then you have to
- 10:31Speaker 1: study harder. You have to learn more marketing skills. You
- 10:33Speaker 1: have to find out what your competition is doing. Basically
- 10:36Speaker 1: the same skill that I choose the sales drugs. I'm
- 10:38Speaker 1: now using to to to to do my entrepreneur stuff.
- 10:42Speaker 1: And I don't want to tell you about some of
- 10:44Speaker 1: the dreams I've been having it if I did, people
- 10:46Speaker 1: would think I'm crazy. No, no, no, no, no no.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That's why you're on this show because you're not crazy,
- 10:51Speaker 1: because because I'm telling you it's true, because I tell
- 10:54Speaker 1: people all the time, is that is that I come
- 10:56Speaker 1: from filth forard, I come from that. That that life
- 10:59Speaker 1: I just you know, had the fortunate ability. The teachers
- 11:02Speaker 1: kept me straight, you know, they told me go to class,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and so I went to I went to class, and
- 11:06Speaker 1: I went to college. And people in college you're telling
- 11:08Speaker 1: me I'm special and telling I got a math degree,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and then I got then I gotta started working for IBM.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So I know there's always that farking the road, and
- 11:16Speaker 1: I always know that decisions are made and guided by
- 11:19Speaker 1: people who are pushing you, either negatively or positively. Okay,
- 11:24Speaker 1: And and in my case, positivity warm out over negativity
- 11:27Speaker 1: because in the end, people underhear me very clear. To
- 11:31Speaker 1: be successful in a positive length is always harder. It's
- 11:35Speaker 1: always harder, but in the end the success ratio will
- 11:39Speaker 1: be a lot higher. If you try to go easy,
- 11:42Speaker 1: then guess what, it's fast. They're gonna come get you.
- 11:45Speaker 1: You're gonna come get you, and the consequences can determine
- 11:48Speaker 1: your life. It ain't really easy they think it's easy.
- 11:52Speaker 1: But if you want to be, if you want to
- 11:53Speaker 1: be where I was, it's a tough it's a tough
- 11:56Speaker 1: way to go. That's the truth. Just spoke though, So
- 11:58Speaker 1: again I'm I just reality. You spoke. Okay, Yeah, you
- 12:04Speaker 1: know what I would love to to to to to
- 12:08Speaker 1: do more and we have. You have to invite me
- 12:09Speaker 1: back on the show. But I'm here in New York.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'm on somebody else's time, right I'm would tell you
- 12:14Speaker 1: some Rick, look at you. I would just let you
- 12:16Speaker 1: know this about yourself. Is that uh you know the
- 12:19Speaker 1: fact that I'm getting texts about you on my phone.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I'm going on the regular basis, let me know about
- 12:25Speaker 1: your brand. You're doing some smart things. I want to
- 12:28Speaker 1: invite you back on the show because I want to.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I want to everybody understand we do whatever. Man, I like,
- 12:34Speaker 1: I met you know Rick, check this that I went
- 12:37Speaker 1: and found you, Rick, I went and found you, Okay, Okay,
- 12:41Speaker 1: So so no, no that I want you young man, Okay,
- 12:45Speaker 1: But I also want to tell your story, right because
- 12:48Speaker 1: because I want to educate the people. Man. Uh, it's amazing,
- 12:51Speaker 1: you know, with the success that I'm having right now,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I'm just overwhelmed. And I'm in a space with where
- 12:56Speaker 1: I feel so like, so relieved. Know, it's like, this
- 13:01Speaker 1: is what you've been looking for all your life, you know.
- 13:03Speaker 1: And I want to share it with more people. But
- 13:05Speaker 1: I've already made a schedule to be here in New
- 13:07Speaker 1: York and and and I got four guys standing around.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Hey many rid Heyrick, get out of here. Man. I
- 13:14Speaker 1: want to thank you. We're gonna talk again sooner. I

- 16:43Speaker 1: You know, talk about you got these these culinary skins. See,
- 16:47Speaker 1: I can't put the word culinary in my conversation, but
- 16:50Speaker 1: you can put the word coloring there. Tell me about
- 16:51Speaker 1: you talking about your history. I know, bigger than sitting
- 16:54Speaker 1: in the kitchen watching your grandmother, because that's how I
- 16:56Speaker 1: learned watching my mom, even though she wouldn't let me
- 16:58Speaker 1: go in the kitchen until I was I had to
- 17:01Speaker 1: go to college for I got in the kitchen. Tell
- 17:03Speaker 1: every about that whole culinary background. Then we're gonna pull
- 17:06Speaker 1: both of you two together and and we're gonna win
- 17:08Speaker 1: with this conversation. So um some uh not several, but
- 17:14Speaker 1: about five years ago I had distracted University UM to
- 17:19Speaker 1: acquire my culinary degree, and the significance behind that was
- 17:24Speaker 1: showing my children that it's never too late to pursue
- 17:27Speaker 1: your dreams. And so while I got that classical training,
- 17:31Speaker 1: what I found out in that process is the core
- 17:35Speaker 1: identity of who I am as a chef, and that
- 17:38Speaker 1: stems from the nurturing that I received in my grandmother's
- 17:42Speaker 1: kitchen kitchen. So staying true to that, my food is
- 17:46Speaker 1: about making feel people warm and like they're receiving a
- 17:49Speaker 1: big hug. I don't know what I do. Lem gonna say,
- 17:54Speaker 1: I'm a baker. I just want people to smile. I
- 17:57Speaker 1: want to eat my dessert bank. But now putting them
- 17:59Speaker 1: we get are homegrown. This baked banana, pinion, brown sugar
- 18:04Speaker 1: monkey bread cake. You know, God a hot dog in
- 18:11Speaker 1: a handburg try man. You man, you're at the heart
- 18:18Speaker 1: of the most powerful organization in sports when it comes
- 18:22Speaker 1: to the media. Tell everybody about a day in the
- 18:24Speaker 1: life of as You're African American. So you you, you
- 18:28Speaker 1: take a unique perspective because of the fact that you
- 18:31Speaker 1: in the position that you are. What led you from
- 18:34Speaker 1: playing on the football fill to the the corporate world.
- 18:38Speaker 1: But when I when I would just say, I begin
- 18:40Speaker 1: with just my faith and my relationship with Jesus Christ
- 18:43Speaker 1: has allowed me to go from being an active participant
- 18:47Speaker 1: on the field to an active contributor off the field.
- 18:50Speaker 1: To My current role to day is I have an
- 18:52Speaker 1: opportunity to steal take part in the game, just in
- 18:56Speaker 1: a different seat. No more uniform, no more playing, but
- 19:00Speaker 1: by way of decisions, collaboration, just working with people across
- 19:03Speaker 1: the country the day in the life of what I
- 19:05Speaker 1: do every day is educating the players, amplifying what the
- 19:08Speaker 1: players are doing in their communities, working with coaches, general managers,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and owners, just to increase and enhance the the game itself.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You know, I'm I'm a fan. I'm a fan of
- 19:19Speaker 1: the of the game. Never played football when I watch it,
- 19:23Speaker 1: uh I look, I always say football is a man
- 19:26Speaker 1: sport to me. You know. I had Eddie George on
- 19:28Speaker 1: the on the on my show talking about his accomplishment
- 19:31Speaker 1: what he's doing at Ohio State teaching up there. And
- 19:34Speaker 1: Carl Francis is always on my show just because I
- 19:36Speaker 1: always want to talk to take the number off the
- 19:38Speaker 1: player and take the helmet off the player, because I
- 19:40Speaker 1: think that, you know, because of because it's such a
- 19:44Speaker 1: violent sports. I I feel right when I say the
- 19:46Speaker 1: word violent because it's a contact board. You somebody see
- 19:49Speaker 1: you on the other side of the field. You go,
- 19:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna run as hard as I can right at you,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and the other persons gonna say, I'm gonna un as
- 19:54Speaker 1: hard as I can't right back at you, and we're
- 19:56Speaker 1: gonna see who's gonna move. That's a sport that that
- 19:59Speaker 1: that when you look at it, it's there's a lot
- 20:01Speaker 1: of controversy. When I say controversy concussions. How do you
- 20:04Speaker 1: look at that? And you're both of your parents, how
- 20:08Speaker 1: do you look at that when you say, should I
- 20:10Speaker 1: don't have about child play football? Or should I not
- 20:12Speaker 1: have my child play football? Well, let's start with the
- 20:14Speaker 1: mom um, um, So we uh, our household is definitely
- 20:20Speaker 1: a football household, um, And there have been a lot
- 20:24Speaker 1: of positive results as a result of what the game
- 20:28Speaker 1: of football has contributed to our life. Um in that
- 20:32Speaker 1: the relationship that we've encountered in this journey since have
- 20:38Speaker 1: been tremendous, and those relationships have transcendent, transcended from trying
- 20:43Speaker 1: myself and spilled over to our children. And so from
- 20:47Speaker 1: that perspective, it's been phenomenal. It is a game that
- 20:50Speaker 1: we understand where injury is not a possibility. It will happen.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It's just a matter of you being responsible for yourself
- 20:59Speaker 1: and making sure you're doing the things necessary to take
- 21:02Speaker 1: care of your body and being a good steward over
- 21:05Speaker 1: your vessel. And so with our boys who both play football. Uh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: two of our three sons play football, you know, we
- 21:13Speaker 1: educate them on the game and educate them on how
- 21:16Speaker 1: to take care of their bodies and being the voice
- 21:20Speaker 1: of reason for their body and not allowing someone else
- 21:23Speaker 1: to dictate to them when it's good for them to
- 21:27Speaker 1: play and when it's not good for them to play.
- 21:29Speaker 1: So you develop leadership in self advocation, which is a
- 21:34Speaker 1: necessary life skill, um, beyond the game of football. What
- 21:39Speaker 1: a what a wonderful ambassador? Did you hear that? Within
- 21:42Speaker 1: what you need to stop? I know who she is, Okay,
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's why I got you all on this show together,
- 21:50Speaker 1: because see, I don't want one side of the story,
- 21:53Speaker 1: because she had the story to tell that's equally as
- 21:56Speaker 1: important as your story. But because you're with the nf ail,
- 22:00Speaker 1: you know, everybody want to hear the nfol story on here.
- 22:02Speaker 1: What Try got to say. I want to hear what
- 22:05Speaker 1: Tommy got to say. And Tommy and Try did the
- 22:07Speaker 1: right thing, honey, because she isn't ambassador for truth because
- 22:14Speaker 1: you know the thing about it that makes me mad
- 22:16Speaker 1: about everybody act like life is gonna give you a
- 22:20Speaker 1: hand of perfection. I can walk across street right now
- 22:23Speaker 1: to be the last interview I ever do in my life.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, I bungee jumped, I got
- 22:28Speaker 1: on the plane probably three or four times a week.
- 22:30Speaker 1: That don't mean I'm onna land. There are there are
- 22:33Speaker 1: options of success and failure in our life. On the
- 22:35Speaker 1: regular basis. We all say yes and no. We all
- 22:38Speaker 1: could train control that path. But some people can get
- 22:41Speaker 1: dig down and try to make it like something that's
- 22:43Speaker 1: so bad. So when I heard her part, you said,
- 22:46Speaker 1: isn't she a creating bad? Now let me hear the
- 22:48Speaker 1: Mr NFL talk. Mr fifteen year veteran, you know when
- 22:52Speaker 1: you know when when you know O t A. You
- 22:54Speaker 1: know that hot summer, you know when you got knocked
- 22:57Speaker 1: up side in the head. Why you got your boys play, sir?
- 23:01Speaker 1: I love everything about the game. As Tommy had had reference,
- 23:06Speaker 1: the game has been good to us and gave us
- 23:08Speaker 1: a gift, gave some of us a gift to play
- 23:11Speaker 1: with speed, size, agility, ability and putting that to usage.
- 23:16Speaker 1: We understand We have a full understanding. My boys, my wife,
- 23:19Speaker 1: all of our kids have a full understanding of the
- 23:22Speaker 1: risk are associated with contact sports. And football is no
- 23:25Speaker 1: differently than any other sport. Uh, there's risk associated with it.
- 23:29Speaker 1: But we love the game. We promote the game, two
- 23:31Speaker 1: boys playing ball. We love Friday nights, we love Saturdays,
- 23:35Speaker 1: and obviously we love Sundays. Um. So that's what I
- 23:38Speaker 1: would say as parents, as a as an ambassador of
- 23:41Speaker 1: the game today, as someone leading the charge inside of
- 23:44Speaker 1: our office along with some of my colleagues, this is
- 23:48Speaker 1: what the game's about. It's about promoting the goodness of
- 23:50Speaker 1: the game allows a lot of men to go on
- 23:54Speaker 1: into paper college education, to make to make a difference
- 23:58Speaker 1: in their community, to impact their community. Um. And this
- 24:01Speaker 1: is what we've done again. Football has allow Vincent Country too.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Is giving us to life to impact, to impact the countries,
- 24:11Speaker 1: communities around the world. Let measure it this. So why
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'm not saying that facetiously? Why is that important? Why
- 24:20Speaker 1: is it important that that you you too are giving back.
- 24:24Speaker 1: You know, you've got five kids, you know you're busy
- 24:27Speaker 1: already now, okay, and you're out there affecting other people's children,
- 24:31Speaker 1: other people, adults lives. Why is that important? I'm a time.
- 24:35Speaker 1: If you don't mind, let me, I'll answer this first.
- 24:37Speaker 1: It's simple for me. When we all get when we
- 24:39Speaker 1: all get called home, when sunset sets, will come to
- 24:44Speaker 1: be part of all of our lives. We're all gonna
- 24:45Speaker 1: get asked this question, what did you do for the
- 24:47Speaker 1: least of them? And that is something that much has given,
- 24:51Speaker 1: much is required, but we're all gonna get called that,
- 24:54Speaker 1: We're all gonna be asked that question that the kingdom,
- 24:56Speaker 1: what did you do for the least of thel? So
- 24:58Speaker 1: that's why it's important. Has become out of our not
- 25:01Speaker 1: just our lifestyles. Is what's part of what we do
- 25:05Speaker 1: and while we do it. And to to add to that,
- 25:09Speaker 1: to add to that, I would say that we have
- 25:13Speaker 1: made a very deliberate choice to make deliberate decisions, to
- 25:17Speaker 1: get deliberate results, and so invent a country. What we
- 25:22Speaker 1: decided to do is to expose our children to giving back.
- 25:28Speaker 1: And giving back translates to what is important to you
- 25:32Speaker 1: and what type of difference you want to make in
- 25:34Speaker 1: someone's life. And so we have all of our children
- 25:37Speaker 1: in some aspect they give back and what that allows
- 25:42Speaker 1: them to do is to really begin to tap into
- 25:44Speaker 1: who they are as individuals and identify what is an
- 25:49Speaker 1: aspect of their purpose. And so in the giving back,
- 25:53Speaker 1: we're also contributing to ourselves and developing and becoming good
- 25:58Speaker 1: stores of life and being assets to society versus becoming liability. Wow.
- 26:06Speaker 1: So the foundation core is faith, family and food. Why
- 26:10Speaker 1: are those three? Tommy? So our faith, Um, it drives
- 26:16Speaker 1: us to do everything we do. And one of the
- 26:19Speaker 1: things that we have come to know and in the
- 26:23Speaker 1: many years that we have been together in developing Vincent Country,
- 26:28Speaker 1: is that without our faith, we are liable to walk
- 26:31Speaker 1: away and give up and fall short of um, something
- 26:35Speaker 1: wonderful and something a powerful that can make a difference.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And so we allow our faith to drive us so
- 26:44Speaker 1: that we do not quit, we don't give up, we
- 26:46Speaker 1: don't give in. And then the family aspect of it,
- 26:50Speaker 1: we realize that in order for us to go far,
- 26:53Speaker 1: we have to go together. Some very powerful couple are
- 26:57Speaker 1: have on the phone, Tommy and Troy Vincent, Um, what
- 27:01Speaker 1: you guys are doing and with Vincent Company Country giving
- 27:04Speaker 1: back despite your success? And I jokingly say that that, uh,
- 27:09Speaker 1: with all seriousness, that the ultimate goal is that that's
- 27:13Speaker 1: my dream. I look back at my life. I've been
- 27:15Speaker 1: giving back since I was eighteen when I was diagnosed
- 27:18Speaker 1: with cancer. I looked at my life and realized that
- 27:20Speaker 1: you know that I've done what I needed to do
- 27:22Speaker 1: in my life if it was my time, because I'm
- 27:25Speaker 1: willing to give back. But more importantly, I just want
- 27:28Speaker 1: to create relationship with you too, and let you know
- 27:30Speaker 1: that I'm a fan. I'm a fan of what you do.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I followed you on the football field, Troy and Tommy,
- 27:37Speaker 1: and now I'm gonna follow you in the kitchen and
- 27:40Speaker 1: We're gonna do some great things together. And just know
- 27:42Speaker 1: that I'm the real deal. Uncle R. Uncle R was
- 27:46Speaker 1: there for you, Uncle from getting him take him back
- 27:50Speaker 1: to the car. Okay, that's right, that's right, that's right,
- 27:54Speaker 1: that's right, that's right, that's right. And when you even
- 27:58Speaker 1: before you get to the super Bowl, let's get together.
- 28:01Speaker 1: There's no pressure. I'm just letting you know the doors open.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Please get those banners to me so I can support
- 28:05Speaker 1: you too and your vested country country branding that you're
- 28:09Speaker 1: doing throughout the country. And more importantly, keep being the
- 28:12Speaker 1: two people that I'm talking to on this phone and
- 28:15Speaker 1: keep raising that beautiful family. Okay, love both of your
- 28:20Speaker 1: signing that signing out, sign out. We talked soon. We'll

- 30:20Speaker 1: brands right now. In shirock O Vodka. You know it's
- 30:23Speaker 1: p Diddy, Tangera, Jan smirring Off, Johnny Walker, Bailey's just
- 30:28Speaker 1: a few of This company has over two hundred outstanding brands,
- 30:32Speaker 1: old and new, large and small, global and local, with

- 30:38Speaker 1: almost every price point in every category to meet their
- 30:41Speaker 1: consumer demand. Now, let me introduce you the director of
- 30:44Speaker 1: Influencer Brands at the Agail North America. Please welcome to
- 30:49Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation. Keenan Towns. Hey, hey, Sean, how are
- 30:55Speaker 1: you pretty good? My friend? Pretty long time, long time,
- 31:00Speaker 1: a long time. I'm listen. Before we get started, man,
- 31:03Speaker 1: I want to say congratulations on this platform because this
- 31:06Speaker 1: is exactly what we need. And um, you know, I've
- 31:10Speaker 1: known you for a long time. I've always looked up
- 31:12Speaker 1: to you as a mentor, so, you know, to be
- 31:15Speaker 1: to be on your show, uh, not only as a blessing,
- 31:18Speaker 1: but uh but I'm I'm very humble, so thank you
- 31:21Speaker 1: for having well, thank you, you know because of the
- 31:23Speaker 1: fact that, uh, you know, that's what this platform is about.
- 31:25Speaker 1: It's about being able to I was talking to Anthony
- 31:27Speaker 1: Hamilton's We'll talk to a lot of celebrities. They always
- 31:29Speaker 1: when I would say, hey, man, I don't care about
- 31:31Speaker 1: your ticket sales. I don't care about you about your movie,
- 31:35Speaker 1: movie movie, whether it's a blockbuster or the opening week.
- 31:39Speaker 1: It's about you, the brand. And this is what this
- 31:40Speaker 1: is about. Mr Towns and his brand and how you
- 31:44Speaker 1: influencing people, your industry decision maker. That's why you're on
- 31:47Speaker 1: this show because consumers need to know and entrepreneurs need
- 31:51Speaker 1: to know how this works and when you when you
- 31:53Speaker 1: carry a brand, just it's as powerful and and as
- 31:57Speaker 1: I guess we should say, it's as influential in the
- 32:00Speaker 1: in the liquor consuming business as as you have. What
- 32:04Speaker 1: I mean as as that first question, what is the
- 32:05Speaker 1: responsibility for you as an influencer of this type of brand,
- 32:09Speaker 1: What is the responsibility of that? Well, you know with
- 32:13Speaker 1: with Spirits, the first responsibility is responsibility is consuming responsibly
- 32:21Speaker 1: and um, you know, and and respecting the fact that
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know it's an alcohol brand and um, there are
- 32:29Speaker 1: ways that you go about marketing and you know, and
- 32:31Speaker 1: that Disio we take it very seriously. We've got a
- 32:34Speaker 1: very strict marketing code and um, and we have to
- 32:37Speaker 1: adhere to that. So that's the first piece of it, um.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You know. The second pieces that you know, to your point,
- 32:44Speaker 1: we have so many big brands, right the AGIO has
- 32:47Speaker 1: been around, uh for many years in different different factors
- 32:51Speaker 1: of companies. Um, but you know we've acquired over you know,
- 32:55Speaker 1: the last twenty thirty years some of the biggest brands
- 32:58Speaker 1: in Spirits which you mentioned, Johnny Walker, Crown Royal, smearing Off,
- 33:02Speaker 1: Captain Morgan sick daily on. You know, it just goes on. Um,
- 33:08Speaker 1: you know, and and and you know and and it's
- 33:09Speaker 1: a great place to work. You know, it's it's nothing
- 33:12Speaker 1: better than going into a restaurant, a bar lounge and
- 33:16Speaker 1: when you see, you know, thirty percent of that back
- 33:19Speaker 1: bar are brands that you represent. Um, you know, it
- 33:23Speaker 1: feels great. It feels like you know you're at the
- 33:25Speaker 1: right company and you're doing the right thing, and you're
- 33:27Speaker 1: doing it. Let's just ask something about that responsibility. Note
- 33:30Speaker 1: like when you go to the website and then you
- 33:32Speaker 1: click brands, you have to enter information to show that
- 33:35Speaker 1: you're above the eighteen. So I'm just letting you know
- 33:38Speaker 1: that he carries that. Yeah, producing amen. In fact, you
- 33:48Speaker 1: can vote at eight you got to drink one. But
- 33:52Speaker 1: that was also let you know I don't drink. But
- 33:55Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that that this interview is not about
- 33:58Speaker 1: my habits, about habits of people enjoy these spirits. But
- 34:00Speaker 1: I want to drive on the fact that you guys
- 34:02Speaker 1: carry that mantle or being responsible to the highest level,
- 34:06Speaker 1: even in the digital and social media community. So when
- 34:09Speaker 1: that would that being said, liquor and spirits are consumed, Oh,
- 34:13Speaker 1: there'll sees no periods where you guys know, you how
- 34:15Speaker 1: to have got to have those warehouses packed because the
- 34:18Speaker 1: call is going to come from the product. Absolutely, I mean,
- 34:23Speaker 1: you know, to your point, uh certainly you have to
- 34:26Speaker 1: be twenty one. You enter in that age day, you
- 34:29Speaker 1: enter in your age and and then you and then
- 34:32Speaker 1: you opened You're opened up to a world of celebration,
- 34:35Speaker 1: you know, and really a diago. That's what we're about,
- 34:38Speaker 1: you know, celebrating responsibly and um, you know, and and
- 34:42Speaker 1: there are key periods and you know, obviously the holiday
- 34:45Speaker 1: is a big time, so October, November, December, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 1: from from from Thanksgiving through Christmas and New Years that
- 34:52Speaker 1: has to be probably our largest selling period. M But
- 34:57Speaker 1: but but then summertime comes around and there's you know,
- 35:00Speaker 1: the drinking occasions have changed, you know, from from nightlife
- 35:04Speaker 1: to daytime parties now and um, you know, outdoor summer
- 35:08Speaker 1: summer events. So you know, so again listen, you know,
- 35:11Speaker 1: one of the best things about the liquor industry is
- 35:13Speaker 1: that people love to celebrate, um and and in good
- 35:17Speaker 1: times and bad you know. So um, it's it's sustainable
- 35:21Speaker 1: and you know, and we're just happy to be here
- 35:25Speaker 1: and hopefully people enjoy our brands. Let me let me
- 35:28Speaker 1: back up a little bit. We're talking about the brands,
- 35:30Speaker 1: but I want to let people know about you. That's
- 35:32Speaker 1: why this show is important, because you're an influencer. You're
- 35:35Speaker 1: a person who who's who's who's uh ascended to a
- 35:38Speaker 1: level of responsibility that you be able to communicate the
- 35:41Speaker 1: spirited world to the masses. How did it all start
- 35:44Speaker 1: for you in this direction? And also how did all
- 35:46Speaker 1: start for you and this this area of the business. Yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 1: so UM for me originally up from Washington DFEATUM I
- 35:56Speaker 1: grew up. I grew up in northeast d c uh
- 35:58Speaker 1: and a plank a place called Length and Terrace. Um.
- 36:01Speaker 1: We were at at one point where the murder capital
- 36:03Speaker 1: of the world. UM. I grew up. I had probably
- 36:07Speaker 1: fifteen or twenty guys that lived on my street who
- 36:10Speaker 1: I considered, you know, my friends. UM. Today there is
- 36:15Speaker 1: two of those guys that are still living or not incarcerated.
- 36:18Speaker 1: So UM. You know, it's a tough, tough, tough area,
- 36:22Speaker 1: tough neighborhood. UM. You know. And and fortunately I was
- 36:27Speaker 1: I was able when when everybody was going right, I
- 36:30Speaker 1: went left. I went the other way or left when
- 36:33Speaker 1: they went left, I went right. Um, you know, I
- 36:37Speaker 1: stayed focused on education. UM. You know, I was busted
- 36:42Speaker 1: across town to a private school because I got kicked
- 36:46Speaker 1: out of the public school was on the first day
- 36:48Speaker 1: for fighting. UH. And my parents put me in military school. Um.
- 36:54Speaker 1: You know. And and from that point on, um, you know,
- 36:58Speaker 1: and I think my grandmother every day for kind of
- 37:00Speaker 1: saving my life, because you know it, although it took
- 37:03Speaker 1: me an hour and a half to get to school
- 37:05Speaker 1: every day, UM, I didn't run into that negativity in
- 37:08Speaker 1: my neighborhood. You know, I had to leave before everybody
- 37:11Speaker 1: got up, and by the time I got home, they
- 37:13Speaker 1: were doing something else. So UM, you know, I took
- 37:16Speaker 1: a different paths. And you know, and again I'm very
- 37:19Speaker 1: blessed and fortunate that I had people in my life
- 37:21Speaker 1: to to kind of scare me in that direction. From there,
- 37:24Speaker 1: I went on to UH to Temple University UH in Philadelphia, UH,
- 37:28Speaker 1: and I studied marketing. UM. I didn't really know what
- 37:32Speaker 1: that was going to turn out to be, you know,
- 37:34Speaker 1: and and and you know, and I think, as you know,
- 37:37Speaker 1: young people that are listening, UM, you know, you you
- 37:41Speaker 1: really don't know where life is gonna take you. But
- 37:43Speaker 1: you know, you do things that you're interested in. And
- 37:46Speaker 1: at that point I started to throw events in college,
- 37:49Speaker 1: throw parties for my fraternity and some other things, and
- 37:53Speaker 1: which which I had to start to understand about marketing.
- 37:56Speaker 1: You know what what that meant, you know, to promote
- 37:59Speaker 1: not only your a in your party, but yourself as
- 38:02Speaker 1: a promoter. So I started to throw parties in Philly
- 38:06Speaker 1: and um and I bought some of the biggest timp
- 38:08Speaker 1: hop acts as Shilly at the time. I brought Notorious
- 38:11Speaker 1: b ir G and I bought Daddy the Philly and
- 38:14Speaker 1: I brought a few other people of Philly. This is
- 38:16Speaker 1: all while I was in college, so you know, that's
- 38:19Speaker 1: kind of where it started. So I had I had
- 38:21Speaker 1: a love for marketing, marketing, Yeah, yeah, the natural we
- 38:26Speaker 1: have a natural love for it, you know. So you're
- 38:28Speaker 1: just taking natural talent, not not knowing that many years
- 38:32Speaker 1: now is it's branding, Its marketing is trending? Is is
- 38:36Speaker 1: you you just That's how it was with me in college.
- 38:39Speaker 1: I was just doing some things that I look back now,
- 38:41Speaker 1: I would tell people, what you learn in your twenties
- 38:43Speaker 1: is what you're gonna make money in your forties and
- 38:45Speaker 1: your fifties. So the biggest Yeah, because your thirties that's
- 38:49Speaker 1: your resume building period. I don't tell people your twenties.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Whatever you learn, that's what you're doing now. All even
- 38:54Speaker 1: though you're saying, hey, I was throwing concert the same
- 38:57Speaker 1: name you you book p did as a concert and
- 39:00Speaker 1: the concert promoter. Now you're marketing his brand. That's amazing.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Now I'm running his brand. Yeah, exactly, exactly, And you know,
- 39:07Speaker 1: and and again you don't really think about it at
- 39:10Speaker 1: the time. The preparation that you know, the things that
- 39:14Speaker 1: you're learning, um and how it will benefit you and
- 39:17Speaker 1: years to come, and those lessons um that you learn,
- 39:21Speaker 1: you know, like you said, are building blocks for your future.
- 39:25Speaker 1: So you know, I was recruited out of Temple to
- 39:29Speaker 1: UH to work for a pharmaceutical company in New York,
- 39:33Speaker 1: a very big pharmaceutical company, and I thought I hit
- 39:35Speaker 1: the lottery, said, uh. They said we're gonna give you
- 39:39Speaker 1: fifty two tho dollars a year in a company car. Yeah,
- 39:46Speaker 1: this is this is my first job out of out
- 39:48Speaker 1: of out of college. Listen, where do I when, where
- 39:51Speaker 1: do I sign? I'm gonna take that And that job
- 39:55Speaker 1: moved me. That job moved me to New York UM
- 39:58Speaker 1: and I went through an into training UM. I was
- 40:02Speaker 1: a market development associate for uh Steel Prooch's drug, and
- 40:09Speaker 1: again I had I had no biology background, no medical background.
- 40:14Speaker 1: I went through a very extensive twelve week training on
- 40:18Speaker 1: human anatomy and UM and this drug and how it
- 40:22Speaker 1: would affect folks, and you know, and it was very
- 40:25Speaker 1: interesting about that job. Is is that I moved to
- 40:27Speaker 1: New York and my territory with the Upper east Side,
- 40:30Speaker 1: I had the Bronx. I had a Harlem and I
- 40:33Speaker 1: had the Upper east Side. And and when I tell you,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I went my doctors in the Bronx they loved me.
- 40:40Speaker 1: My doctors in Harlem they loved me. The white doctors
- 40:44Speaker 1: on the Upper east Side they didn't love me. And
- 40:47Speaker 1: when I tell you, they made it so difficult for me.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I mean, the racism is is real today, but it
- 40:53Speaker 1: was certainly real for for a young black man who
- 40:56Speaker 1: was twenty four years old claiming to be the expert
- 41:00Speaker 1: on colosis, trying to tell fifty sixty year old white
- 41:04Speaker 1: doctors about you know, this drug and its disease. They
- 41:07Speaker 1: weren't hearing it, you know, and they made it art
- 41:10Speaker 1: for me. You know, so I quickly realized with them
- 41:13Speaker 1: about nine months that I probably wasn't the right job
- 41:16Speaker 1: for me. I wanted to I want to drip back
- 41:17Speaker 1: a little bit about just just just knowing you as
- 41:21Speaker 1: a person and just the personal experiences we had. Like
- 41:24Speaker 1: he was talking about those parties that used to do
- 41:25Speaker 1: in my condo and in l A. Those just natural
- 41:29Speaker 1: instinctive moments of just branding and marketing and became like
- 41:33Speaker 1: an event. You almost had to have a like a
- 41:35Speaker 1: special v I p to get in there. And I
- 41:37Speaker 1: would tell you a little story man, that fact there
- 41:39Speaker 1: was it was no more than about a hundred people
- 41:41Speaker 1: could get into my condo. And I remember it was
- 41:44Speaker 1: so big that Kesha col R and B Superstar today
- 41:48Speaker 1: she auditioned in my condo to sing, that's how big
- 41:52Speaker 1: this thing was this and we will go now we
- 41:54Speaker 1: just need to play dominoes And that was, you know,
- 42:02Speaker 1: so just to hear those natural talents that you developed
- 42:05Speaker 1: so far, I'm so proud of you and I'm just
- 42:07Speaker 1: so happy you allow me to share your story. The
- 42:10Speaker 1: bigger story is the Agio, but the even bigger story
- 42:13Speaker 1: is your story, my friend, and the in the see
- 42:16Speaker 1: the journey and just only growing. And I know that
- 42:19Speaker 1: I gotta have you back on in the fall. You
- 42:21Speaker 1: know when you're when you're there selling that looking is
- 42:23Speaker 1: flying off the shelf. But in the meantime, man, you
- 42:26Speaker 1: stay strong and I appreciate you coming on Money Making Conversations.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Thank you, you're happy to be there. Awesome. Hey, this

- 43:27Speaker 1: about your dreams and put some plans into action. Rashan McDonald.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Rashaan McDonald with the last half hour of this show,
- 43:37Speaker 1: We're doing it. My next guest is one of the
- 43:40Speaker 1: top foot surges in America. She's my best friend CEO
- 43:43Speaker 1: and found up Fix Your Feet, Incorporated. She has fifteen
- 43:46Speaker 1: years of medical experience and maintains offices on Park Avenue
- 43:49Speaker 1: in New York City. I went by there and in
- 43:52Speaker 1: downtown Civil Springs, Maryland. The focus of our practices Bunyan's.
- 43:56Speaker 1: I got a Bunyon hamlet. I got a hamlet to
- 43:59Speaker 1: please walk on the money making conversations, Doctor your landa
- 44:02Speaker 1: raggling illo. Hello, Rashan, I'm so First of all, I
- 44:08Speaker 1: want to say congratulations on your one year anniversary of
- 44:11Speaker 1: the show. I'm so glad. Yeah, yeah, that's wonderful. I'm
- 44:15Speaker 1: so glad to um to be here again. I'm thrilled
- 44:19Speaker 1: as um. Yeah, thank you, thank you so much. Doctor Listen.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Don't get your heart of the matter. I travel a lot,
- 44:26Speaker 1: and I want you a beautiful office on Park Avenue.
- 44:28Speaker 1: And first of all, you're a friend of mine, Okay,
- 44:30Speaker 1: And I just say that because of the fact that
- 44:32Speaker 1: you're just a successful friend. But there's a lot of
- 44:35Speaker 1: people walking around that they really need to stop and
- 44:37Speaker 1: look at their feet, and a lot of people stopping
- 44:39Speaker 1: not enjoying life or not enjoying the lifestyle that good
- 44:42Speaker 1: feet or good surgical applications can bring to their feet,
- 44:46Speaker 1: that will open up their spirits because a lot of
- 44:48Speaker 1: people are just are walking a certain where where a
- 44:50Speaker 1: certain type of shoes because they don't think this problem
- 44:53Speaker 1: can be fixed, and you're saying, rashand it can be fixed.
- 44:56Speaker 1: It can be fixed. I think that's the one misnellmer
- 45:01Speaker 1: about the whole thing. Especially when we talk about the
- 45:04Speaker 1: foreign or the hammer toes. People think that it's skin deep.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Your hamle towel is not a skin deep problem. It's
- 45:10Speaker 1: a bone problem, and it can be fixed, and it
- 45:13Speaker 1: can be fixed prominently. If you're coming in thinking that
- 45:17Speaker 1: we're just gonna take the skin off, and if anybody
- 45:20Speaker 1: actually offers just to take the skin off, it is
- 45:23Speaker 1: the absolute wrong thing to do. Not only is it
- 45:25Speaker 1: gonna come back, it's gonna be uglier. Uh, it's gonna
- 45:28Speaker 1: be uglier when it does come back. So um so
- 45:32Speaker 1: people need to understand that it's not just the skin
- 45:35Speaker 1: problem is deeper than that, it goes down to the bone.
- 45:38Speaker 1: It has to be corrected the right way. And like
- 45:41Speaker 1: I said, creating the tr tell technique allows me to
- 45:46Speaker 1: create it to fix it. Not only the right surgical technique,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but it allows me to correct it so that we
- 45:52Speaker 1: don't notice that the incisions as much, or the incisions
- 45:55Speaker 1: are hidden so that nobody even knows that anything ever happens.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Dr Londa Raglan wanna thank you for calling my show.
- 46:01Speaker 1: You owe me two banners for your new location in
- 46:03Speaker 1: Bullie mary Buoie, Maryland, which is in the area, and
- 46:08Speaker 1: I'm looking to some other places too. We're gonna bring
- 46:12Speaker 1: you back on the show. You know you're not a stranger.
- 46:15Speaker 1: You know you're not a stranger to come back in
- 46:16Speaker 1: the fall. Dr Londa wraggling, she's a winner. We'll be
- 46:23Speaker 1: right back with more from Sean McDonald and Money Making Conversations.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Don't touch that down, Hi, this is Sean McDonald, the
- 46:32Speaker 1: host of Money Making Conversation. You say to yourself who
- 46:35Speaker 1: calls with Sean shell Ricky smiling, You got to get
- 46:39Speaker 1: out of your own city and leave in the order
- 46:42Speaker 1: to grow, because a fish don't get bigger as long
- 46:44Speaker 1: as inside of this fish boat just get bigger when
- 46:48Speaker 1: you put it in a punt. Ladies and gentlemen, please
- 46:50Speaker 1: bucking the phone. And one and only Charlie Wilson. People
- 46:55Speaker 1: have been really been trying to give me to do
- 46:57Speaker 1: a gospel record. So many years that happened. I'm some
- 47:00Speaker 1: god that I would got him out and do something.
- 47:04Speaker 1: But you know the goes my baby, Come on man,
- 47:10Speaker 1: but a little Jesus in the song, Come on brother
- 47:12Speaker 1: ms Patty little bail and you know what I'm gonna
- 47:15Speaker 1: be doing concerts and little clubs. Thank you, Thank you
- 47:21Speaker 1: so that I can touch you when I'm singing with
- 47:23Speaker 1: my hands. Thank you. See, I told you be there.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Every Monday, ten am. The noon be is Eleve Nanny
- 47:33Speaker 1: Hodges with Sean McDonald. You're listening to money making conversations.
- 47:36Speaker 1: What a great show today. I just want to wrap
- 47:38Speaker 1: up everything to say this about being successful, about understanding
- 47:42Speaker 1: why each individual who listens to my show. Uh. The
- 47:46Speaker 1: message you're trying to take away is that you can
- 47:48Speaker 1: make it, that you can be special. It takes hard work,
- 47:51Speaker 1: all right. I can I tell you the things I've
- 47:53Speaker 1: done in my life that have helped me. People who
- 47:56Speaker 1: have helped me relationships. I was looking through newspay for
- 48:00Speaker 1: this morning. We're talking about the nine mistakes that college
- 48:03Speaker 1: recent college graduates will make when they graduate, and one
- 48:07Speaker 1: of the number one things failure to create relationship before
- 48:11Speaker 1: you graduate from college. So we hop out of college.
- 48:14Speaker 1: See that's what I'm trying to tell my daughter. You
- 48:17Speaker 1: learn relationship, learn learn, meet people, talk to professors, do internships.
- 48:22Speaker 1: All these things are important if you want to be
- 48:24Speaker 1: successful when you graduate. So you just graduate and three
- 48:28Speaker 1: just out there walking around just like everybody else. Don't know,
- 48:30Speaker 1: nobody learn and create relationships before you graduate. So when
- 48:35Speaker 1: you get out there, you're ahead of the competition, because
- 48:38Speaker 1: boy is it busy out there. High school is easy,
- 48:42Speaker 1: college is fund. Real world is work tremendous amount of
- 48:47Speaker 1: work that a lot of times you aren't ready to
- 48:49Speaker 1: deal with. I wasn't ready to deal with it. It
- 48:52Speaker 1: took me time to mature. I had to talk to
- 48:54Speaker 1: a lot of people who appreciated what I had to
- 48:57Speaker 1: say in order to win. That's why at this point
- 48:59Speaker 1: in my life, I'm gonna be a person that helps
- 49:02Speaker 1: you out, help us out of my listeners, help out
- 49:05Speaker 1: by followers, be able to give them a position to
- 49:07Speaker 1: be able to win long term. That's why we're winning cool.
- 49:11Speaker 1: My next power couple is on the line. Had a
- 49:14Speaker 1: little difficulty there. They're both famous. They're both famous. They
- 49:18Speaker 1: have a new serious premier r TV one called We're
- 49:20Speaker 1: the Campbell's. Now, let me set the stage of what
- 49:24Speaker 1: this is, because you know people that reality shows, they
- 49:27Speaker 1: immediately think it's gonna be something crazy going on. Not
- 49:31Speaker 1: this family. This is not the Campbells. The Campel's a
- 49:33Speaker 1: great show, great couple, great kids. The docuseents that follows
- 49:37Speaker 1: gospel music power couple Warren and Erica Campbell as they
- 49:41Speaker 1: balance raising their family, building their own individual empires, growing
- 49:45Speaker 1: their flourishing church ministry, and maintaining their strong faith. Marrit's
- 49:49Speaker 1: is two thousand and one. That's way back then I
- 49:52Speaker 1: first started managing Steve Harvey to show would allowed viewers
- 49:55Speaker 1: to follow Warn and Eric as they manage their headt dating, luck,
- 49:58Speaker 1: work schedule while fostering their help the marriage key right there,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and raising three children with the help of their group
- 50:04Speaker 1: of family and friends. Please welcome to money Making Conversation
- 50:07Speaker 1: Warren and Erica Campbell. Good morning, was shan Come on now,
- 50:13Speaker 1: I just tell it. First of all, good morning back
- 50:15Speaker 1: to everybody. I know y'all on that West coast doing
- 50:18Speaker 1: your thing. I now you get up every morning doing
- 50:21Speaker 1: Get Up, Erica. That's part of the hector schedule that
- 50:24Speaker 1: you was talking about, right, It is absolutely a part
- 50:28Speaker 1: of the schedule. So so Warren, why she's getting up now?
- 50:31Speaker 1: She's working earning money right there. What you're doing, brother,
- 50:34Speaker 1: what you're doing Warren. So she's getting up, I'm just
- 50:38Speaker 1: now laying down from making my money. So that's the
- 50:42Speaker 1: beauty of this show. You have your your successful ships
- 50:46Speaker 1: that are passing in the night, and at the same
- 50:49Speaker 1: time you have to maintain a healthy marriage and at
- 50:52Speaker 1: the same time you have to raise children. How does
- 50:55Speaker 1: that accomplish and how is it going to be shown
- 50:57Speaker 1: on this show? We're the Campbells. Well know, I'll tell
- 51:00Speaker 1: you one thing. It ain't easy. And so you know,
- 51:03Speaker 1: when people say you gotta make time for things, that's
- 51:05Speaker 1: because you don't have time to things. So the things
- 51:07Speaker 1: we don't have time for, we absolutely gotta make time for.
- 51:10Speaker 1: We gotta make times for each other. We're gotta make
- 51:12Speaker 1: time out of the out of the hundred and sixty
- 51:14Speaker 1: eight hours in the week, you know, I got to
- 51:17Speaker 1: plan out how many hours I want to steal with
- 51:18Speaker 1: my wife, and how many hours wanna still with my kids,
- 51:20Speaker 1: and how many hours gonna work. So you know, if
- 51:22Speaker 1: I look at it that way, it's better than doing
- 51:25Speaker 1: the day by day. I look at the whole week
- 51:26Speaker 1: and say how many hours I can do certain things.
- 51:29Speaker 1: But that's kind of how we you know, we kind
- 51:31Speaker 1: of planning at least. I try to now the the
- 51:34Speaker 1: key about this show, Erica, because you know, you were
- 51:36Speaker 1: tied to yourself on a very successful show on we TV.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Now basically you're tied to your husband and your family.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It's all about your core group. What is the value
- 51:47Speaker 1: of doing another reality series for the business? This one
- 51:52Speaker 1: is all about family and um m my My husband
- 51:56Speaker 1: often says, we only see broken families on television. True,
- 52:00Speaker 1: we don't usually get a chance to see a healthy,
- 52:02Speaker 1: strong husband. We see husbands immaculated. We say, see women
- 52:06Speaker 1: who are the board, you know, but we don't see
- 52:08Speaker 1: God's design your family, which is the husband is the
- 52:11Speaker 1: head and and everybody else is enjoying life and happy
- 52:15Speaker 1: about it. So I'm I'm happy about that, and I'm
- 52:18Speaker 1: happy to offer another option to people I know people
- 52:21Speaker 1: have a lot of options, and I feel like we
- 52:24Speaker 1: are not just the exception where reflection of what's happening.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I grew up with healthy families around me and my
- 52:29Speaker 1: husband do too, So when people say all black families
- 52:33Speaker 1: are broken, I can't emphatically say that's not true. That's
- 52:38Speaker 1: really sad because a lot of people believe that. They
- 52:41Speaker 1: believe with the media tells us, you know, that's why
- 52:44Speaker 1: you know, um, you know, I I just look at
- 52:46Speaker 1: the way in life and now how you know, young
- 52:49Speaker 1: African American male or me myself, I hey, cops on me.
- 52:53Speaker 1: I'm nervous and because of my car, and I feel
- 52:57Speaker 1: that when I look at shows like this and I'm
- 52:59Speaker 1: excited to be on TV one Premier and Tuesday on
- 53:02Speaker 1: TV one were the Campbels. I'm on the phone with
- 53:05Speaker 1: Eric and Warren Campbell. Uh the successful couple, entrepreneur couple,
- 53:09Speaker 1: a couple who have a healthy relationship. You're not gonna see,
- 53:12Speaker 1: you know, uh, spankings and they're not gonna see nobody
- 53:15Speaker 1: climbing across the dinner table talking about you're not gonna
- 53:18Speaker 1: see no FFing and all that kind of words going
- 53:21Speaker 1: left and right on the show, because that is not reality,
- 53:23Speaker 1: that's not the world. I'm tired of that. I'm tired.
- 53:27Speaker 1: I'm tired. We are to come on now it's time
- 53:32Speaker 1: to change the channel. Come on now, change the challenge
- 53:35Speaker 1: to the cabels where in the campus and channel the
- 53:39Speaker 1: TV one you you you gotta not more supporter here
- 53:43Speaker 1: in Rashan McDonald I said, I think they said they're busy.
- 53:47Speaker 1: They said they just give me, just give me ten
- 53:49Speaker 1: minutes something. Just give me ten minutes so I can
- 53:52Speaker 1: grab that tim minutes. Put it on my podcast, put
- 53:54Speaker 1: it on my serious XM channel, so I can. I
- 53:56Speaker 1: want you to send me some bandies. Everybody call this show.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I gotta request the ban up because I want to
- 54:01Speaker 1: promote it on my social media because that's how you win. Team.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I just let everybody know, that's what money making conversations about.
- 54:08Speaker 1: You have a brand. And Erica no, she warrant you
- 54:11Speaker 1: in my life. Now, see Warren, you're part of the
- 54:13Speaker 1: Rushan McDonald club. Now because eric had been in the club,
- 54:16Speaker 1: she knows that she's been in this club. But you
- 54:19Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about. We set up in restaurant,
- 54:22Speaker 1: just just not asking about no commity, what you're doing Erica.
- 54:25Speaker 1: What do I need to do to make you successful?
- 54:27Speaker 1: And that's me, my man, that's me. That's what this
- 54:30Speaker 1: show is all about. So just and just give people
- 54:32Speaker 1: a little nugget about what the premier is gonna look
- 54:34Speaker 1: like so we can get them excited. And it's gonna
- 54:37Speaker 1: be every Tuesday or TV one, were the Camels your Turn?
- 54:41Speaker 1: Warrant do your thing? Brod's a producer right now. Well,
- 54:45Speaker 1: you know, you don't see a lot you're gonna see, uh,
- 54:48Speaker 1: you know, me and my wife kind of struggle to
- 54:50Speaker 1: make times for each other. Well, there's a there's a
- 54:52Speaker 1: big award show going on, and I'm dealing with all
- 54:55Speaker 1: of my artists and and she is like the most
- 54:57Speaker 1: successful artists that I have in my at my late
- 55:00Speaker 1: but then they have all these other baby acts that
- 55:02Speaker 1: I'm you know what we're working with. Then we're gonna
- 55:04Speaker 1: see the struggle between me and my younger sister, who
- 55:07Speaker 1: is also an R and B artist, to her feeling
- 55:09Speaker 1: like she's not having enough time for my time. So
- 55:13Speaker 1: it's a lot you my head with my heads in
- 55:17Speaker 1: where's my album coming out? You know, you'll also see
- 55:20Speaker 1: the love check in Rashaan you'll see us take time,
- 55:23Speaker 1: um to make sure that we're good. You know, sometimes
- 55:26Speaker 1: you're flowing and going and making money, but you gotta
- 55:29Speaker 1: make sure that you've got a healthy sex life in
- 55:31Speaker 1: the middle of all of this as well. Absolutely, man, Absolutely,
- 55:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you something. Here's the deal about this
- 55:38Speaker 1: show coming out is that it's on the African American network,
- 55:41Speaker 1: which is TV one, a powerful African American couple. And
- 55:45Speaker 1: that's why I brought up the fact that you know,
- 55:48Speaker 1: they work for a living. That's the cool thing about
- 55:50Speaker 1: this show. A lot of times, you know, a lot
- 55:51Speaker 1: of realities shows people living in houses they don't really
- 55:55Speaker 1: live in. They're doing it. They're not even working, you
- 55:57Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, They're living off somebody else's in
- 55:59Speaker 1: call they We're gonna actually see you guys earning a
- 56:03Speaker 1: living and how you earn a living and how you
- 56:06Speaker 1: take that that brand and and and and and expand
- 56:09Speaker 1: on it. And that's where I think it's really key
- 56:12Speaker 1: to this show. Correct, Yeah, yeah, yeah, But it's all
- 56:15Speaker 1: about expanding the brand, man, And it's as wide and
- 56:19Speaker 1: deep as you can. And so when you when you
- 56:22Speaker 1: do this show, how many episodes have y'all taped for
- 56:25Speaker 1: this season and it's just gonna be just a summer
- 56:28Speaker 1: show or uh, you know, the how's it gonna work
- 56:31Speaker 1: out of just being summer show because it's only nine
- 56:34Speaker 1: episodes on this thame and uh and then you know,
- 56:38Speaker 1: if we get another one, hopefully we'll do ad maybe
- 56:40Speaker 1: one or two more to it. Now some of the
- 56:43Speaker 1: artists just let everybody know some of the artists that
- 56:45Speaker 1: you've worked with producers excuse me, um not different artists
- 56:49Speaker 1: and make the late great Luther Van Jos one of
- 56:52Speaker 1: one of them are Kanye West snoop Dogs. Now how
- 56:55Speaker 1: you go from and how you gonna go from? Luther
- 56:57Speaker 1: Van draws the Kanye West? If that ain't nothing stream
- 57:00Speaker 1: extreme of challenge much success? Uh, whatever y'all do. Church wise,
- 57:08Speaker 1: those festivals you mentioned, you know about the hairline, give
- 57:11Speaker 1: me your boundery, you know, Erica, I believe in you. Warren,
- 57:14Speaker 1: Welcome to the family, brother, and what's y'all my success?
- 57:17Speaker 1: Thank you, absolutely absolutely we'll get that for you. And
- 57:21Speaker 1: thank you so much for having us on TV one tomorrow.
- 57:24Speaker 1: We're the Campbell's start Aircraft and Warren Campbell and they
- 57:28Speaker 1: have three kids. That's right, y'all stay strong, Bye bye.
