Latest / The Ben Ferguson Podcast / WH Economic Data Mess plus Kamala HATED Cheney before Loving Cheney
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: This morning is a very interesting day. And the reason
- 0:04Speaker 1: why I say that is because the White House they're
- 0:09Speaker 1: having some problems. They're having some pretty serious problems this
- 0:14Speaker 1: morning because their economic data is the opposite of what
- 0:19Speaker 1: they claimed yesterday at a White House press conference. They're
- 0:23Speaker 1: now getting called out for it. It's bad, and they
- 0:29Speaker 1: are also trying to figure out how they got it
- 0:31Speaker 1: so wrong. Now, let me explain a little bit more
- 0:34Speaker 1: about this so you understand. So there's data that's come out.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Wall Street reacted, it wasn't great. White House apparently either
- 0:42Speaker 1: had bad data or didn't realize that the data was
- 0:47Speaker 1: coming out at the White House. And so now they're
- 0:51Speaker 1: trying to figure out how to undo a mess that
- 0:54Speaker 1: they made. And it looks like they were, when I say,
- 0:56Speaker 1: asleep at the wheel, like they just missed an entire
- 1:00Speaker 1: the report that they're on, like they're in charge of it, okay,
- 1:05Speaker 1: Like like this is insane.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It really is. Now.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Top White House energy advisor went on TV today and
- 1:17Speaker 1: he said that there is nothing that your AC costs
- 1:22Speaker 1: have to do with oil production, Okay, And he's getting
- 1:28Speaker 1: ripped this morning because the cost of energy, the cost
- 1:33Speaker 1: of electricity, the cost of heating your home very much
- 1:39Speaker 1: is connected to energy prices. And he's getting ripped on
- 1:43Speaker 1: for saying what he said this morning because it's also
- 1:47Speaker 1: seems that he missed the same report and is asleep
- 1:51Speaker 1: at the wheel. And there's a concerning aspect of this.
- 1:56Speaker 1: There's there's a laughable aspect of it, and you're laughing,
- 1:59Speaker 1: you're just like, God, these guys are idiots. But there's
- 2:02Speaker 1: also a very concerning aspect of this. And the concerning
- 2:06Speaker 1: aspect of this is the fact that it's like, Okay,
- 2:10Speaker 1: so let me get this straight. You guys don't know
- 2:13Speaker 1: what's going on. We clearly have no idea who's running
- 2:18Speaker 1: the country. Like that's one thing that I think is
- 2:21Speaker 1: a like blatantly obvious. We have no idea who's running
- 2:26Speaker 1: the country. And then you guys aren't even up to
- 2:29Speaker 1: date on your own intel, your own intel. You don't
- 2:34Speaker 1: know what's going on. You guys have no clue what's
- 2:38Speaker 1: happening with your own intel.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And this is like a political thing.
- 2:45Speaker 1: This is an actual government report from the White House
- 2:51Speaker 1: that you're somehow unaware of. How does that even happen
- 2:57Speaker 1: when you don't have a sitting president, When it's just
- 3:00Speaker 1: a fake government, and I guess no one knows who's
- 3:03Speaker 1: in charge. The wheels are now starting to come off,
- 3:06Speaker 1: especially since they don't have to fake it as well
- 3:09Speaker 1: anymore because he's no longer the candidate, right, Like, I
- 3:11Speaker 1: don't believe this would have happened if Joe Biden was
- 3:13Speaker 1: still the candidate, and now that he's not, I think
- 3:17Speaker 1: everybody else kind of like it seems like they're like,
- 3:20Speaker 1: all right, we're just going to check out, like we're
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to coast. He's on vacation every week. Maybe we
- 3:27Speaker 1: should just be on vacation every week. So this government
- 3:30Speaker 1: report comes out, they're all flat footed, right, they all
- 3:35Speaker 1: have no idea what's actually happening and what's going on,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and then they start trying to figure out how to
- 3:42Speaker 1: fake it because they don't understand that the report that
- 3:45Speaker 1: they were supposed to have is a report that they're
- 3:47Speaker 1: actually supposed to be like reporting to the people, like
- 3:50Speaker 1: they're supposed to be telling us this is what's going on,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and they're being asked about the report from the actual media.
- 3:57Speaker 2: It is totally insane.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It is completely insane that this is the scenario right now,
- 4:07Speaker 1: But this is now what the country looks like when
- 4:11Speaker 1: you have a guy that's been a fake president for
- 4:13Speaker 1: a long time and now apparently have no clue who
- 4:16Speaker 1: the president actually is. White House Energy advisor on Trump's
- 4:21Speaker 1: plan to drop energy prices. Here is his response on
- 4:25Speaker 1: CNBC listened this morning.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Moment, and I wanted to ask you about this former
- 4:28Speaker 3: President Trump saying that he believes that he could have
- 4:32Speaker 3: energy prices if he wins reelection. He says, quote, you're
- 4:37Speaker 3: heating and air conditioning, electricity, gasoline, all can be cut
- 4:40Speaker 3: down in half. He said this at a Michigan rally
- 4:43Speaker 3: last month, saying that he would declare what he calls
- 4:46Speaker 3: a quote national emergency to increase fossil fuel supply and
- 4:49Speaker 3: decrease prices.
- 4:52Speaker 2: What do you think of that?
- 4:54Speaker 4: Honestly, I have no idea what he's referring to. We
- 4:57Speaker 4: have oil production is significantly higher than it was under
- 5:01Speaker 4: his administration. It's full two million barrels higher than it
- 5:05Speaker 4: was where we took office at thirteen and a half million.
- 5:08Speaker 4: But as you know, your air conditioning costs have nothing
- 5:10Speaker 4: to do with oil production. There electricity, which is not oil.
- 5:13Speaker 4: In the United States, natural gas was at ninety two
- 5:17Speaker 4: bcf a day it's today at one hundred and three
- 5:19Speaker 4: bcf a day, so a significant increase in gas production.
- 5:24Speaker 5: With the largest LNG exporter.
- 5:26Speaker 4: We'd probably be exporting a little less if demand for
- 5:28Speaker 4: gas was there.
- 5:29Speaker 5: It's just not there.
- 5:30Speaker 4: And not only that, we've added one hundred gigawatts of
- 5:33Speaker 4: clean energy over the last few years. So what really
- 5:37Speaker 4: brings down the cost of electricity and cost for families
- 5:41Speaker 4: is won the gasoline that's already down, the cost for
- 5:45Speaker 4: natural gas we're producing as much as we've ever have,
- 5:48Speaker 4: and the availability of cheap clean energy, and that's also
- 5:53Speaker 4: rising dramatically.
- 5:55Speaker 5: So the only thing that is in.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Let me just say pause there is do any of
- 5:59Speaker 1: you guys like you're getting cheap energy because the Biden administration?
- 6:05Speaker 1: And again this guy's winging it. He obviously is like
- 6:07Speaker 1: completely caught. This is like going into a math test,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I think, and and then all of a sudden it's
- 6:13Speaker 1: a history test, and you're like, wait, what what am
- 6:16Speaker 1: I doing here?
- 6:17Speaker 2: Wait? Where did this come from? Wait?
- 6:18Speaker 1: I didn't know this was outweight? I was I was
- 6:20Speaker 1: completely flat footed. Wait, I have no idea what you're
- 6:22Speaker 1: talking about. I gotta wing this. I got a wing
- 6:25Speaker 1: this Like in a major way. How did this happen, Like, like,
- 6:29Speaker 1: when did all this happen? When did all this come out?
- 6:33Speaker 1: That that's what he's doing right now. And so he
- 6:36Speaker 1: just said that there is an abundance of really cheap energy. Okay,
- 6:41Speaker 1: how many of you are impressed with your with your
- 6:43Speaker 1: utility bill.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I'm paying more now for my utilities than I've ever had.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm the I'm the crazy old dad that's walking around
- 6:51Speaker 1: the house, you know, you know, yelling at the kids.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Turn off the lights when you leave the room, turn
- 6:55Speaker 2: off the lights when you leave the room. Like that's me.
- 6:58Speaker 1: That's how expensive it's gotten that I mean, And I
- 7:01Speaker 1: think I'm probably not the only one. When I go
- 7:04Speaker 1: put gas in my car, I'm not seeing some amazing price, Like, man,
- 7:07Speaker 1: this is awesome. Like I remember when Trump was in office,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I actually kind of look forward to filling up my
- 7:12Speaker 1: car because it.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Was so cheap.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You're like, this is great, dude, this is half price
- 7:16Speaker 1: from what I was paying for on Obama. I mean,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I remember that compare and contrast moments. And so the
- 7:23Speaker 1: White House guys just told you there's an abundance of clean, cheap,
- 7:28Speaker 1: renewable energy like, where do I find this at Walmart?
- 7:32Speaker 1: I'm being sarcastic. You can obviously buy energy at Walmart,
- 7:36Speaker 1: but keep listening.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Down the costs for natural gas. We're producing as much
- 7:40Speaker 4: as we've ever have, and the availability of cheap, clean energy,
- 7:46Speaker 4: and that's also rising dramatically.
- 7:48Speaker 5: So the only thing that.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Is energy Emergency would do would probably increase costs on
- 7:54Speaker 4: American families because it would take away all the incentives
- 7:58Speaker 4: for investments and things like nuclear energy, infusion and renewable energy,
- 8:02Speaker 4: which is actually bringing help to bring costs down. That's
- 8:06Speaker 4: what the energy transition needs to be. It needs to
- 8:08Speaker 4: be continued fossil fuels for as long as we need
- 8:10Speaker 4: them and bringing on clean energy that is cheaper as
- 8:14Speaker 4: we need for the future. And we definitely want the
- 8:16Speaker 4: private sector to invest in nuclear power, which is both
- 8:21Speaker 4: clean and efficient, but it needs the incentives from the
- 8:23Speaker 4: government to be able to grow.
- 8:25Speaker 1: I mean, this may be the most awkward interview I've
- 8:28Speaker 1: ever seen five three five nine seven three two. When
- 8:32Speaker 1: I woke up this morning and I was looking at this,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I started laughing, like, I've never seen an administration so
- 8:38Speaker 1: unprepared on a basic report.
- 8:42Speaker 2: In my entire life. And it is. It is.
- 8:44Speaker 1: It's laughable, but it's incredibly concerning. Like I want to know, actually, now,
- 8:49Speaker 1: who really is running the country. We know it's not
- 8:53Speaker 1: Joe Biden, but who's running the country now? Who is
- 8:55Speaker 1: the president? If the you know what hits the fan,
- 8:58Speaker 1: who's running the country. Dick Cheney, as you know, angry
- 9:04Speaker 1: that his daughter got run out of Congress, trying to
- 9:06Speaker 1: get a little revenge on the maggot movement Donald Trump
- 9:10Speaker 1: saying he's voting for Kamala Harris, which is just embarrassing.
- 9:14Speaker 1: We've talked about that on this show before and what
- 9:17Speaker 1: a sellout that is. But I also want to go
- 9:20Speaker 1: back and just remind you of just how petty Dick
- 9:24Speaker 1: Cheney is in this endorsement compared to the history behind
- 9:28Speaker 1: all of this.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I've got to montage for you. Take a listen.
- 9:31Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney,
- 9:36Speaker 6: Dick Cheney and Satan.
- 9:38Speaker 5: That's next time the Sith Lord is.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Back like a demon, it rises again.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Dick Cheney, Darth Vader, Satan. Thank you to.
- 9:46Speaker 7: Satan forgive him the inspiration on how to play this role.
- 9:50Speaker 5: We don't need Dick Cheney Dick Cheney was Jane dangerous.
- 9:53Speaker 5: That only thing, the only thing you got to do
- 9:55Speaker 5: is just embtter than Dick Chane. I like to see
- 9:57Speaker 5: Dick Cheney do exposed. He's a liar.
- 10:00Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
- 10:05Speaker 7: You're part of the Dick Cheney cult that led to
- 10:08Speaker 7: hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis being killed because the
- 10:12Speaker 7: cult you were in.
- 10:13Speaker 8: Chaney dishonestly made up the idea that had nuclear weapon.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Just lied. Why do they want these wars?
- 10:18Speaker 8: What is it that they don't like somebody because they
- 10:20Speaker 8: don't like.
- 10:21Speaker 5: The look of their face?
- 10:21Speaker 1: Relevant national embarrassments Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney.
- 10:26Speaker 4: I'm not remember Dick Cheney driving over to the CIA
- 10:29Speaker 4: to look over their shoulders to make sure they gave
- 10:32Speaker 4: him the intel that he wanted so as to justify
- 10:35Speaker 4: the Iraq war.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
- 10:40Speaker 3: No apologies, no regrets from former Vice President Dick Cheney
- 10:44Speaker 3: for the harsh CIA interrogation techniques.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Under Dick Cheney's tutelage. We got the photographs at albil Gray, the.
- 10:51Speaker 9: Former vice president at one point signing a waterboard.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Kit Cheney, of course unrepentant. You know what to go to,
- 10:59Speaker 5: go to hell.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I want to talk about a man rotten to his
- 11:01Speaker 1: very core, which is in itself a tiny black hole
- 11:03Speaker 1: from which no joy or like can escape. The ancient
- 11:06Speaker 1: Coptics knew this man, ash.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Deck, the dark one, the jagged tooth, foris demon who
- 11:12Speaker 4: steals our children.
- 11:13Speaker 2: We know him as former Vice President Dicklara.
- 11:16Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
- 11:21Speaker 9: What do you think of Dick Cheney, and people would say, well,
- 11:23Speaker 9: I hate everything he stands for. I am someone fundamentally
- 11:26Speaker 9: opposed to the politics of Liz Cheney and her father,
- 11:29Speaker 9: Dick Cheney.
- 11:30Speaker 5: I literally started.
- 11:31Speaker 9: Writing books in the first place more than a decade ago,
- 11:34Speaker 9: because I had so much to get off my chest
- 11:37Speaker 9: about what I thought was wrong with the Cheney family
- 11:40Speaker 9: approach to Warren foreign policy. That first book I ever
- 11:43Speaker 9: wrote is literally dedicated to him.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Dick Cheney. Profoundly dangerous. Cheney, I think was arrested twice.
- 11:49Speaker 5: An master manipulator like Dick Cheney. You're willing to say anything.
- 11:54Speaker 10: And now is the cascade of misery and death and chaos.
- 11:56Speaker 10: He did so much to unleash rages anew Mister Cheney,
- 12:00Speaker 10: he has the unadulterated gall to come before the country
- 12:03Speaker 10: and tell us that it's all someone else's fault. You
- 12:06Speaker 10: said there was no doubt Saddam Hussein had weapons of
- 12:09Speaker 10: mass destruction. You said we would be greeted as liberators.
- 12:12Speaker 10: You said the Iraq insurgency was in the last throws
- 12:15Speaker 10: back in two thousand and five. And you said that
- 12:17Speaker 10: after our intervention, extremists would have to quote rethink their
- 12:20Speaker 10: strategy of jihad. Now, with almost a trillion dollars spent there,
- 12:24Speaker 10: with forty five hundred American lives lost there, what do
- 12:28Speaker 10: you say to those who say you were so wrong
- 12:32Speaker 10: about so much at the expense of so many.
- 12:36Speaker 5: No, I just fundamentally disagree with Reagan Megan.
- 12:39Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Jany's the guy who told those guys the line in
- 12:45Speaker 3: the first place.
- 12:46Speaker 5: You're more Honessidor.
- 12:47Speaker 11: Wilson wrote an op ed titled What I Didn't Find
- 12:51Speaker 11: in Africa that exposed VI President Cheney's use a false
- 12:55Speaker 11: information to sell us a war in Iraq. A week
- 12:58Speaker 11: after Wilson's op ed was published, his wife, Valerie Plain
- 13:01Speaker 11: was outed as a covert CIA agent.
- 13:04Speaker 2: All we did was.
- 13:05Speaker 7: Out a ciaaed the criminal proclivity, power grab mentality of
- 13:10Speaker 7: Dick Cheney.
- 13:11Speaker 5: And they twisted that intelligence.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I did not.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Believe what Dick Cheney have to say. I thought that
- 13:15Speaker 5: they were lying.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Shot a man.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Vice President Cheney's been the most dangerous vice president we've had,
- 13:23Speaker 3: probably in American history.
- 13:24Speaker 6: I actually have the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It's just so much fun to go back and remind
- 13:33Speaker 1: people of these scumbags. Now they love Dick Cheney because
- 13:37Speaker 1: Dick Cheney is angry about his daughter getting run out
- 13:40Speaker 1: of Congress and he's like, I'm voting for Kama Harris,
- 13:42Speaker 1: screw Donald Trump and Maga who got rid of her.
- 13:45Speaker 1: And now they're like, yeah, I got Dick Cheney's endorsement. Wait,
- 13:48Speaker 1: I thought you guys hated Dick Cheney. What happened last
- 13:53Speaker 1: Sun checked? You hated Dick Cheney. I mean hated Dick
- 13:58Speaker 1: Cheney on a whole nother He was Satan And people
- 14:03Speaker 1: wonder why I don't trust Democrats because as soon as
- 14:07Speaker 1: you're useful again, after they call you Satan darth Vader,
- 14:10Speaker 1: the list goes.
- 14:11Speaker 2: On and on.
- 14:12Speaker 1: They're all back in. They're like, all right, we're good. Now,
- 14:14Speaker 1: let's do it again. Like I like, forget all that,
- 14:16Speaker 1: let's go. We're good, We're ready. Come on five three
- 14:20Speaker 1: five nine seven three two five three five nine seven
- 14:24Speaker 1: three two eight hundred number one, eight hundred four seven
- 14:28Speaker 1: four nine seven three two one eight hundred four seven
- 14:32Speaker 1: four nine seven three two. Ben Ferguson show, We're gonna
- 14:35Speaker 1: get some of your phone calls in here. Your reaction
- 14:37Speaker 1: to that, it is, I mean, if you care about
- 14:41Speaker 1: like just integrity at all, like a little bit, like
- 14:43Speaker 1: not a lot, just a little bit, if you don't,
- 14:46Speaker 1: if that doesn't bother you listening to that, that this
- 14:50Speaker 1: is like just how how willing and ready they are
- 14:53Speaker 1: just to throw all of their values out the window.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Like this guy's Satan. We've been telling you for twenty years.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Oh wait, he likes us. Now, Oh let's endorse that guy.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Let's go. Oh I didn't, I mean, well this could
- 15:06Speaker 1: help us? Oh well then I this hurts Republicans. Let's
- 15:09Speaker 1: take his endorsement. If you guys, if you think a
- 15:12Speaker 1: guy is is Satan and Satan wants to.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Endorse you, I don't want the endorsement.
- 15:18Speaker 1: But come here. He's like, no, no, this is good. Democrats
- 15:22Speaker 1: are like, no, no, this is this is good. Let's
- 15:25Speaker 1: do this. Let's let's have this moment. Let's knock this
- 15:30Speaker 1: one out of the park.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Baby.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I actually have the endorsement of Dick Cheney. I know
- 15:35Speaker 1: I told you was Satan. I know, I know I
- 15:38Speaker 1: said he was Satan, but he's really not Satan. We
- 15:41Speaker 1: were just playing that up when he was on the
- 15:43Speaker 1: other side, But now that he's endorsing me, he's not Satan.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Like like, let's just let's just delete all of that.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It never really happened.
- 15:51Speaker 2: We're good.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Jd Vance this morning going on CNBC and he had
- 15:56Speaker 1: a lot to say on CNBC. Here's part one of
- 15:59Speaker 1: what he said moments ago joining us.
- 16:01Speaker 8: Now Ohio, great state of Ohio, Senator jd Vance, We
- 16:06Speaker 8: grew up well long before you grew up. I grew
- 16:10Speaker 8: up in a part of Sance. Now you're from Middletown
- 16:13Speaker 8: and you've been on the show before.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Senator's been with Steve Case.
- 16:16Speaker 8: It's when you involved with that, and I think for
- 16:19Speaker 8: Hillbilly elogy, I don't know if it was.
- 16:21Speaker 5: A book to or what.
- 16:22Speaker 8: But so we've met before, great to have you on.
- 16:25Speaker 5: I want to struggling how to start.
- 16:27Speaker 8: We could do a post mortem on the debate, but
- 16:30Speaker 8: because we're so interested in trying to get into your
- 16:35Speaker 8: economic beliefs, given that, as we now know, people's economic
- 16:39Speaker 8: beliefs can evolve, as we've seen maybe from you know,
- 16:43Speaker 8: for a President Trump's opponent. But I'm wondering whether yours
- 16:47Speaker 8: have evolved, because then we'll get into some of the
- 16:49Speaker 8: things you said in the past. And is there how
- 16:51Speaker 8: much daylight right now? Is there between what you believe
- 16:55Speaker 8: as what I call you an economic populace? Is there
- 16:58Speaker 8: daylight between you and President right now?
- 17:01Speaker 5: No? I don't think so.
- 17:01Speaker 7: I mean, look, obviously he selected me as his running mate,
- 17:04Speaker 7: and I'm trying to run to implement and win on
- 17:06Speaker 7: the Trump agenda. But I think that President Trump's economic
- 17:09Speaker 7: views are actually pretty straightforward American conservatism, which is, we
- 17:13Speaker 7: need to manufacture things in this country. We need common
- 17:16Speaker 7: sense energy and regulatory policies to be able to make things,
- 17:19Speaker 7: and the best way to lift up workers is to
- 17:21Speaker 7: promote good jobs and good wages, not to just throw
- 17:23Speaker 7: everybody on welfare, which I think is in some ways
- 17:26Speaker 7: the main thrust of the Kamahayer's economic policy. So there's
- 17:29Speaker 7: definitely some element of populism to it, because look, I
- 17:31Speaker 7: do think.
- 17:32Speaker 5: That for thirty years in this country, we.
- 17:34Speaker 7: Shift a lot of good manufacturing jobs to places like
- 17:36Speaker 7: East Asia. Now China makes some of the critical things
- 17:39Speaker 7: that we need, antibiotics, prescription drugs, even god forbid, the
- 17:43Speaker 7: weapons that our troops would need if we went to war.
- 17:45Speaker 5: Against a nation like China.
- 17:47Speaker 7: So we have to be a little bit smarter about
- 17:49Speaker 7: our own self reliance as a nation. That is one
- 17:51Speaker 7: departure I think between President Trump's vision and frankly thirty
- 17:54Speaker 7: forty years of failed leadership in this country.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Great opening for him, by the way, talking about this,
- 18:02Speaker 1: he then moved on to talk about trade.
- 18:05Speaker 8: A lot of what I think of a populism, though
- 18:08Speaker 8: it seems like it's almost diametrically opposed to certain aspects
- 18:11Speaker 8: of capitalism.
- 18:13Speaker 5: And there are certain groups and I.
- 18:14Speaker 8: Don't even want to mention the name of it, but
- 18:16Speaker 8: they claim you as a strict adherent to populism.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I don't know if you know the group I'm talking about.
- 18:23Speaker 8: You have said we should raise corporate taxes in the past.
- 18:26Speaker 8: If the president the former president wants to cut the
- 18:29Speaker 8: twenty one percent right down of fifteen, I think you
- 18:31Speaker 8: said twenty eight or even higher, that these big corporations
- 18:35Speaker 8: deserve that.
- 18:36Speaker 7: Well, what I said is that we need to lower
- 18:39Speaker 7: taxes on corporations that are creating jobs in this country
- 18:43Speaker 7: and raise tariffs on corporations that are shipping jobs overseas
- 18:47Speaker 7: and manufacturing overseas. Look, if you're trying to take advantage
- 18:50Speaker 7: of Chinese slave labor and then use American markets to
- 18:53Speaker 7: make a profit on your product, I do think and
- 18:55Speaker 7: I know Donald Trump thinks that we should try to
- 18:56Speaker 7: penalize these companies. But we want companies that are investing
- 18:59Speaker 7: in America, hiring America, and creating good American jobs to thrive.
- 19:03Speaker 7: But we have to recognize there is a fundamental difference
- 19:05Speaker 7: between a national corporation that's creating good jobs in this
- 19:08Speaker 7: country and a foreign corporation that's benefiting from Chinese.
- 19:12Speaker 8: Second Industrial policy that the Democrats get criticized fule, Oh no.
- 19:16Speaker 5: It's not.
- 19:16Speaker 7: Look whatever you want to call it, man, The problem
- 19:19Speaker 7: is Look, Chinese slaves making two dollars a day, if
- 19:22Speaker 7: you know, and they get caned working seventy two hours
- 19:25Speaker 7: a week, if they want to work seventy hours a
- 19:27Speaker 7: week instead, you want to allow American manufacturers to benefit
- 19:31Speaker 7: from that cheap labor.
- 19:33Speaker 5: Not only is it going to destroy.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Good American jobs and wages, it's going to decimate our
- 19:37Speaker 7: core manufacturing industry, which I think makes us less productive
- 19:40Speaker 7: over time. The final and most important point is it
- 19:42Speaker 7: makes us reliant on foreign nations to make.
- 19:45Speaker 5: Some of our critical stuff.
- 19:46Speaker 7: Now, Donald Trump does believe in trade, and I believe
- 19:49Speaker 7: in trade, but we believe in trade that's actually going
- 19:51Speaker 7: to benefit American workers, not destroy American jobs. So the
- 19:54Speaker 7: final point is, look, as you've seen on this campaign,
- 19:56Speaker 7: there have been a lot of outside groups who try
- 19:58Speaker 7: to claim that President Trump or I agree with every single.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Thing that they say.
- 20:01Speaker 7: President Trump speaks for himself and I speak for myself.
- 20:04Speaker 7: So don't necessarily assume that everything you're here written about
- 20:08Speaker 7: him or me is true. Obviously they lie about him
- 20:10Speaker 7: quite a bit, but he really does believe and frankly,
- 20:13Speaker 7: he's been right about this for forty years.
- 20:15Speaker 5: We have to make more of our own stuff. We
- 20:17Speaker 5: have to build more.
- 20:17Speaker 7: In America, and we need a corporate tax policy that
- 20:20Speaker 7: promotes that. And yeah, sometimes that does mean if you're
- 20:23Speaker 7: shipping jobs overseas, you're going to be penalized.
- 20:25Speaker 1: What are the if you're shipping jobs overseas, you're going
- 20:29Speaker 1: to be penalized?
- 20:30Speaker 2: Did you notice that? Now?
- 20:32Speaker 1: Jd Vance has also asked about tariffs and inflation.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Listen lies that they're telling about you that you don't
- 20:40Speaker 3: agree with.
- 20:41Speaker 7: Well, I think one of the things that says, for example,
- 20:43Speaker 7: about Donald Trump's economic policies is that somehow they're going
- 20:46Speaker 7: to jack up inflation, which is rich coming from Kamala Harris,
- 20:49Speaker 7: whose economic.
- 20:50Speaker 5: Policies have directly well not always right.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Let's just take theretionary or people aren't buying the products anymore.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Well, let's just take one example. So one of the class.
- 21:00Speaker 7: Examples that economists used to attack, or some economists should say,
- 21:03Speaker 7: used to attack Donald Trump's economic policies is the terriffs
- 21:06Speaker 7: that he imposed on washing machines and other dish dishwashers, sorry,
- 21:10Speaker 7: on dishwashers.
- 21:11Speaker 5: So they show.
- 21:12Speaker 7: A chart that says, well, look, a few months after
- 21:15Speaker 7: this tariff, the price of dishwashers went up a little bit,
- 21:17Speaker 7: but if you look over two years, actually the price
- 21:20Speaker 7: of dishwashers went down. You induced a lot of American
- 21:23Speaker 7: factories to invest in American workers in American made products,
- 21:26Speaker 7: and the price of dishwashers is actually lagged behind the
- 21:29Speaker 7: price of a lot of other home appliances. So sometimes
- 21:32Speaker 7: when you induce investment in capital formation in the United
- 21:35Speaker 7: States of America, it does lower prices on American workers.
- 21:38Speaker 7: And again the experience of Donald Trump's presidency, he was
- 21:41Speaker 7: president for four years, he did impose tariff sometimes to
- 21:46Speaker 7: induce more investment in American workers.
- 21:48Speaker 5: And what happened. We had one point five.
- 21:50Speaker 7: Percent inflation, rising take home pay, and the best economy
- 21:53Speaker 7: for workers.
- 21:54Speaker 5: In forty years then across the PLT cetera.
- 21:56Speaker 7: But when people say that Donald Trump is going to
- 21:59Speaker 7: destroy the economy, he was already the leader of the
- 22:02Speaker 7: American economy for four years. We had rising prosperity, broad
- 22:05Speaker 7: based middle class.
- 22:06Speaker 5: Wage growth centator. That is a record I'd like to
- 22:08Speaker 5: get back to.
- 22:10Speaker 2: It's a record I like to get back to. JD.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Vans finally saying this, if you want access to American markets,
- 22:18Speaker 1: you can't use Chinese slave labor to produce your products.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Listen, Senator, I think the question though on the tariffs,
- 22:25Speaker 3: and it's where Joe is going. Because they're across the
- 22:28Speaker 3: board and they're not as targeted.
- 22:30Speaker 5: It's unclear.
- 22:31Speaker 3: There are certain industries that unfortunately we don't have now.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Wouldn't be great if our country were to invest in
- 22:36Speaker 3: some of these industries that we're not that we're missing
- 22:38Speaker 3: on the manufacturer side, But the amount of time may
- 22:41Speaker 3: very well take to quote unquote induce every every industry
- 22:45Speaker 3: to invest here to manufacture. That's the complication with the plan.
- 22:48Speaker 3: So when you see, for example, like a Goldman Sachs
- 22:51Speaker 3: report come out suggesting that this actually becomes it not
- 22:54Speaker 3: just a massive tax, but a massive drain on the economy,
- 22:57Speaker 3: what do you think?
- 22:58Speaker 5: And then just a.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Related question, because a lot of people have said this,
- 23:01Speaker 3: do you believe that the entire across the board tariff
- 23:05Speaker 3: would go into effect or is it a should we
- 23:08Speaker 3: think of it as some kind of negotiating cudgel if
- 23:11Speaker 3: you will with China for other things?
- 23:13Speaker 7: Well, first of all, I do think that it's negotiation.
- 23:15Speaker 7: Donald Trump is a negotiator. He believes in using tariffs
- 23:18Speaker 7: for negotiation, but he also does believe in using tariffs
- 23:21Speaker 7: to induce more manufacturing, more capital formation in our country.
- 23:24Speaker 7: But Aaron, the problem with the argument here is when
- 23:28Speaker 7: people say these tariffs are going to have an effect.
- 23:31Speaker 7: Donald Trump already imposed specific tariffs on specific industries. You
- 23:35Speaker 7: didn't see the negative consequences come to light. In fact,
- 23:38Speaker 7: what you saw was rising wages and rising.
- 23:40Speaker 5: Take home pay.
- 23:41Speaker 7: So when people say you can't do this in a
- 23:43Speaker 7: narrow way, you can't do it in a broad base way,
- 23:45Speaker 7: I just think that doesn't actually fit with reality. And
- 23:49Speaker 7: there's actually a deeper argument here that I think Donald
- 23:51Speaker 7: Trump really again understands and understood better than a lot
- 23:54Speaker 7: of people who said that somehow American prosperity was going
- 23:58Speaker 7: to come by shipping our steel into and our pharmaceutical
- 24:01Speaker 7: industry overseas.
- 24:02Speaker 5: They were wrong and he was right.
- 24:03Speaker 7: So maybe he's right about his policies and the effect
- 24:06Speaker 7: they're going to have on the future too. But one
- 24:08Speaker 7: of the critical conceits that our bipartisan consensus made over
- 24:12Speaker 7: the last forty years is that you could separate the
- 24:14Speaker 7: manufacture of things from the design of things. You open
- 24:17Speaker 7: up an iPhone and it says you know, I think
- 24:20Speaker 7: it says designed in Coupertino, California. The implication, of course
- 24:23Speaker 7: is that it's manufactured in Shinjin, China. But what we're
- 24:26Speaker 7: finding out is that the people who are manufacturing things,
- 24:29Speaker 7: they innovate, they become.
- 24:30Speaker 5: More productive, they develop the critical.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Skills necessary to get better at manufacturing, and then they
- 24:35Speaker 7: start designing the things too. If we're not doing enough
- 24:38Speaker 7: manufacturing our own country, we're going to lose our tech
- 24:41Speaker 7: edge and then we're going to be in a world
- 24:42Speaker 7: of hurts. So there's no critical difference good.
- 24:46Speaker 3: The flip side is it creates an export problem because
- 24:48Speaker 3: there will be retribution. I've got an emails even in
- 24:50Speaker 3: the past week from viewers of Squad who are farmers
- 24:53Speaker 3: in the Midwest who are worried, deeply worried that depending
- 24:57Speaker 3: on how these tariffs play out, that going to affect
- 25:00Speaker 3: them on the opposite end.
- 25:03Speaker 7: Well, Andrew, this actually highlights again we have to look
- 25:06Speaker 7: at experience versus some of these ridiculous predictions from people
- 25:09Speaker 7: who have an ax to grind against Donald Trump. I'm
- 25:11Speaker 7: of course not saying the farmers fall into that category,
- 25:13Speaker 7: but when did America for the first time, maybe in
- 25:16Speaker 7: our history become a net food importer, meaning we need
- 25:19Speaker 7: to take in more food than we produce ourselves twenty
- 25:22Speaker 7: twenty three, under the policies of Kamala Harris, when Donald
- 25:25Speaker 7: Trump was president and doing all these things that certain
- 25:28Speaker 7: pundits as say are going to lead to terrible outcomes,
- 25:30Speaker 7: what actually happened. America was a net food exporter. We
- 25:34Speaker 7: grew more of our food than we needed. That is
- 25:37Speaker 7: an important thing that we're One of the critical mistakes
- 25:39Speaker 7: that we made again is that we became dependent on
- 25:42Speaker 7: foreign nations for the goods that we need. Now we're
- 25:44Speaker 7: becoming dependent on foreign nations for the food that our
- 25:47Speaker 7: children need to eat.
- 25:48Speaker 5: This is insanity. We have to be self reliant.
- 25:51Speaker 7: We have the biggest economy in the world. Every business,
- 25:55Speaker 7: every foreign country, every competitor wants access to American markets.
- 25:59Speaker 7: If you want access to American markets, you can't use
- 26:02Speaker 7: Chinese slave labor to.
- 26:03Speaker 5: Produce your products.
- 26:04Speaker 7: You've got to be able to use American workers. And
- 26:07Speaker 7: that's the whole thrust of Donalds.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I think it's very interesting that.
- 26:15Speaker 1: This is how hard CNBC was on the policies of
- 26:18Speaker 1: Trump and vance he was able to defend them explain
- 26:22Speaker 1: them talk about them. When was the last time you
- 26:25Speaker 1: heard that type of conversation at that level with anything
- 26:30Speaker 1: with Kamala Harris or Walt's campaign, ever, it doesn't exist.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Like I'm glad they're challenging him. People have real questions
- 26:39Speaker 1: about tariffs and about the price of goods and the
- 26:42Speaker 1: price of rising goods. Like I mean it when I
- 26:46Speaker 1: say I'm glad that there's this level of debate.
- 26:52Speaker 2: This is an important.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Level of debate. It's a type of debate we should
- 26:56Speaker 1: have often. I'm glad that it was that law and
- 27:01Speaker 1: that thought out and that you know, it had to
- 27:04Speaker 1: be communicated in this way and debated.
- 27:08Speaker 2: We need more of this.
- 27:09Speaker 1: But where is this on the other side with Kamala
- 27:12Speaker 1: Harris's campaign. I would love to play you a tape
- 27:17Speaker 1: of this type of conversation. It doesn't exist, and that
- 27:20Speaker 1: may be the biggest problem of all. White House on
- 27:25Speaker 1: Defense this morning is John Kirby Trash's friends on nine
- 27:31Speaker 1: to eleven in an email he accidentally sent to Fox
- 27:36Speaker 1: News Channel This coming from the White House National Security spokesman.
- 27:42Speaker 1: He was former Department of Defense spokemssman John Kirby trashing
- 27:47Speaker 1: a group of veterans in an email send an air
- 27:50Speaker 1: to Fox News on the anniversary of nine to eleven
- 27:53Speaker 1: terror attacks. As Fox News is reported, Kirby responded to
- 27:57Speaker 1: an email inquiry Fox about criticism criticisms by a veterans
- 28:04Speaker 1: group about the Biden administration's disastrous twenty twenty one withdrawal
- 28:08Speaker 1: from Afghanistan by accidentally hitting reply all before disparaging the
- 28:13Speaker 1: veterans quote. Obviously no use in responding a handful of vets,
- 28:21Speaker 1: indeed in all of one stripe, Kirby said in a
- 28:26Speaker 1: reply all email chained Wednesday afternoon that appeared to be
- 28:30Speaker 1: intended for White House staffers but also included Fox News Digital.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Fox News Digital had reached out to the White House
- 28:38Speaker 1: earlier Wednesday afternoon regarding criticism and critical comments from four veterans,
- 28:44Speaker 1: including Representative Corey Mills, Republican from Florida, who blasted Kirby
- 28:50Speaker 1: for his Monday press conference that they said provided cover
- 28:54Speaker 1: for the Biden administration's twenty twenty one withdrawal. Kirby's message
- 28:59Speaker 1: was sent an air, with him following up with a
- 29:02Speaker 1: Fox News Digital reporter saying this clearly, I didn't realize
- 29:06Speaker 1: you were on the chain. Kirby sent the email while
- 29:09Speaker 1: traveling with President Biden on the anniversary of nine to eleven.
- 29:13Speaker 1: On Monday, Kirby pushed back against the House Republican report
- 29:17Speaker 1: on the Afghanistan withdrawal by blaming former President Donald Trump for,
- 29:22Speaker 1: among other things, negotiating with the Taliban, ignoring the fact
- 29:26Speaker 1: that the talks of the Taliban actually began under the
- 29:28Speaker 1: Obama administration in Katar in twenty thirteen and Obama's second
- 29:33Speaker 1: term in office. Kirby retired by the way from the
- 29:36Speaker 1: US Navy as a rear admiral. He served as Pentagon
- 29:40Speaker 1: spokesman during the Afghan pullout, including the murder of the
- 29:44Speaker 1: thirteen US service members in the ISIS k tarr attack
- 29:47Speaker 1: on Abby Gate in August of twenty twenty one. So
- 29:51Speaker 1: if you want to know what these guys think about
- 29:54Speaker 1: people that disagree with him, even those that serve like
- 29:56Speaker 1: those in the military, now you know, because it was
- 30:00Speaker 1: an accidental reply all and Fox News was on the
- 30:05Speaker 1: reply all.
- 30:06Speaker 2: They basically say, screw.
- 30:08Speaker 1: You, like we don't respond to you, we don't care
- 30:12Speaker 1: the hell with you, like we're done with Like we're
- 30:15Speaker 1: done with you. That's how they look at veterans that
- 30:17Speaker 1: disagree with them. Now, if that's how they talk about
- 30:21Speaker 1: veterans that disagree with them on the anniversary of nine
- 30:24Speaker 1: to eleven, Okay, Like, if that's how they did it
- 30:29Speaker 1: on the anniversary of nine to eleven, Think what they
- 30:32Speaker 1: think about average Americans when you have problems or issues.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I think it's pretty fair to to say.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Really, think about what it would look like if you
- 30:45Speaker 1: sent an email and was criticizing them, What they would
- 30:49Speaker 1: say about you, Because this is what they say about veterans,
- 30:52Speaker 1: This is what they say about people that fight, defend
- 30:54Speaker 1: and protect this country when they disagree with the Democratic Party.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Make sure you share this podcast please with your family
- 31:03Speaker 1: and your friends, especially the story of Jocelyn. It is
- 31:07Speaker 1: important that we share this story now more than ever before.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Share it
