- 0:03Speaker 1: Y'all know what time to y'all don't know y'all all
- 0:10Speaker 1: soon looking back to back down, giving them more like
- 0:15Speaker 1: American bus things and it's tub y'all. Do me true
- 0:20Speaker 1: good to the hearty guy listening to me to other
- 0:26Speaker 1: for stolen hobby. I don't you join yeah by radio,
- 0:50Speaker 1: join me into being me? Honey? Do you turn? Yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 1: don't go, you gotta turn, you to turn turn? Do
- 1:42Speaker 1: you love me? Got to turn out to turn the water?
- 1:47Speaker 1: The water go? Come? Come on your face, Uh huh,
- 2:02Speaker 1: I sure will. Good morning everybody. You're listening to the voice,
- 2:07Speaker 1: Come on, dig me now, one it on. It's Steve
- 2:09Speaker 1: Harvey man oh man, got a radio show. Yeah, trying
- 2:13Speaker 1: to make it work too. I'm not trying. I'm I'm I'm,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'm I'm getting it. I'm getting it done to the
- 2:19Speaker 1: best of my abilities. Now. Something funny my father taught me.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He says, son, when you've done all you can do,
- 2:29Speaker 1: if you've done your absolute best and you look up
- 2:34Speaker 1: and it didn't get the job done, take a deep
- 2:38Speaker 1: breath and do some more. That used to bug me, man,
- 2:44Speaker 1: when my father used to tell me, that's the son,
- 2:46Speaker 1: when you've done your absolute best, and you think you k'
- 2:50Speaker 1: do no more. You've done all you can and it
- 2:54Speaker 1: still don't get the job done. Take yourself a deep
- 2:58Speaker 1: breath and do some more. And you know what I
- 3:03Speaker 1: found that has worked every single time, every single time,
- 3:11Speaker 1: because what my father knew was that what you think
- 3:16Speaker 1: is your breaking point, or what you think is you're
- 3:19Speaker 1: all at all? He says, son, it's just something about it. Man.
- 3:24Speaker 1: If you just gather yourself, you got a little bit more.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Everybody got some more. And you know, I gotta be
- 3:35Speaker 1: honest with you. It has worked. It has helped me greatly.
- 3:39Speaker 1: And um, you know if everybody does have some more.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You know, I tell that to my sons all the time,
- 3:46Speaker 1: that I did my best well to manage to something else.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Could you have done anything else? Could you have studied
- 3:52Speaker 1: a little harder, Could you have shown up a little
- 3:54Speaker 1: bit earlier, could you stayed a little bit later? Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 1: well then okay that's what you should have done. Then. See,
- 4:04Speaker 1: that's always a way. But if you're going to create excuses,
- 4:09Speaker 1: if you're gonna make them up all the time about
- 4:11Speaker 1: why you don't get it done, I have a very
- 4:14Speaker 1: very sad uh statement for you right now, you're never
- 4:19Speaker 1: gonna get anything done. You're never gonna get to the top,
- 4:23Speaker 1: not to the top. You can get halfway up now,
- 4:27Speaker 1: you can get a third of the way up, you
- 4:28Speaker 1: can get three quarters of the way up. But if
- 4:31Speaker 1: you don't have that little extra reserve in you, you're
- 4:35Speaker 1: not getting to the top. The top is only reserved
- 4:39Speaker 1: for those that have the wherewithal and the power to desire,
- 4:44Speaker 1: the drive and the gut reaching effort to get to
- 4:50Speaker 1: the top. The top is reserved only for the top.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It's just the top to ain't but one top then
- 4:56Speaker 1: the middle done it ain't it? You know, the top,
- 4:59Speaker 1: the top, out of the mountain, have where it's a
- 5:01Speaker 1: different view. At the top, things look different from up top.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So if you want to get to the top of
- 5:07Speaker 1: whatever your profession, your field, your career, whatever it is,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you got to do extra. You have to do more.
- 5:20Speaker 1: More is expected of you. More. But here's what's really crazy.
- 5:24Speaker 1: More is required of you. Don't live your life in
- 5:28Speaker 1: the lacks of daisical state. Don't wake up every day
- 5:32Speaker 1: with the feeling of, well, you know, whatever happens happens now, man,
- 5:37Speaker 1: have us say so in your life. You first of all,
- 5:41Speaker 1: let me ask you something, Who has God named the
- 5:46Speaker 1: person that? How that God has given authority over you
- 5:50Speaker 1: named the person? Where is it in scripture? Where anywhere where?
- 5:55Speaker 1: Show me anywhere where it says this person has the
- 6:00Speaker 1: right over you, this person right here, this one right here.
- 6:06Speaker 1: You have to do everything they say and what they say.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Only show me that right there, Show me who they're
- 6:13Speaker 1: talking about. Certainly, certainly I have not met that person. Now.
- 6:19Speaker 1: My parents were great to me, and there was their
- 6:22Speaker 1: job to offer me lead, leadership and guidance along along
- 6:26Speaker 1: the way. But as I grew up, man, I had
- 6:28Speaker 1: to go out here and get it on my you know,
- 6:30Speaker 1: I had to go out here and get it on
- 6:31Speaker 1: my own. But who is the person? Nobody has domain
- 6:36Speaker 1: over you. God didn't create that person. So what you're
- 6:39Speaker 1: sitting here for? Man? What are you sitting here for?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Letting people who do not know direct your path? A
- 6:48Speaker 1: lot of us get stopped because we we worried so
- 6:52Speaker 1: much about what people think about us. We worried too
- 6:56Speaker 1: much about what people say about us. Why are you
- 7:01Speaker 1: worried about all these people with what they got to
- 7:04Speaker 1: say about you, and all these people with what they
- 7:06Speaker 1: got to think about you? When here's the news flash.
- 7:09Speaker 1: They don't know either. All these people that you overly
- 7:14Speaker 1: concerned about, all these people that you going to these
- 7:19Speaker 1: answers for, they need answers too. Stop what are you
- 7:25Speaker 1: doing here? Gather yourself for a minute. Here is a
- 7:29Speaker 1: solution to all of that. You have one source that
- 7:33Speaker 1: will be there for you till the end of time,
- 7:37Speaker 1: and that is your relationship with God. That is the
- 7:41Speaker 1: one thing that's solid and for shure. He's behind the wall.
- 7:45Speaker 1: He's in your jail cell. He rides with you in
- 7:48Speaker 1: the police car. He's with you on your job up
- 7:50Speaker 1: at to school. He's down there in the board meetings
- 7:53Speaker 1: with you. He goes with you when you travel on planes.
- 7:57Speaker 1: He sits with you when you're in a relationship. He
- 8:00Speaker 1: helps you with your parents and skills. He helps you.
- 8:03Speaker 1: He's there to assist you. He shows if you do
- 8:06Speaker 1: the right things, he show you and guide you to
- 8:08Speaker 1: your next job. When you lose your job and you
- 8:10Speaker 1: think it's so wrap all, there's some good behind him. Man,
- 8:14Speaker 1: God is always working on your behalf. To those that
- 8:17Speaker 1: believe you, just gotta believe. He won't ask you for
- 8:20Speaker 1: nothing else. Believe in me. That's all He asked you
- 8:23Speaker 1: to do what you're tripping for. Man, and then when
- 8:26Speaker 1: you make the decision to believe in him, and it
- 8:29Speaker 1: comes out your mouth from time to time somewhere what
- 8:32Speaker 1: you're worried about, what people say, What you're worried about,
- 8:35Speaker 1: what they think? For? Why? Who are they? They need God?
- 8:38Speaker 1: To you? You? You? You're telling them you found something
- 8:41Speaker 1: new that you're gonna give this a shot right here. Now.
- 8:44Speaker 1: They got some yang ying yang and some yakety yact
- 8:46Speaker 1: to say about that when they need God too. That's
- 8:50Speaker 1: what amazes me, man about people sit up in here, man,
- 8:53Speaker 1: be knocking your dream and stuff. Look, if you're an atheist, man,
- 8:56Speaker 1: do your thing, do your thing, But you can't create
- 8:59Speaker 1: no law? Is why I can't do mine? Don't make
- 9:02Speaker 1: no sense, man, That makes no sense at all to me.
- 9:07Speaker 1: You have the right to go be whatever you wanna be.
- 9:10Speaker 1: You know if you don't, you don't like the fact
- 9:12Speaker 1: that I'm in school. You got my head biled down
- 9:15Speaker 1: and I'm saying a prayer for I take this test.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Just don't buy your head, don't you pray? But if
- 9:20Speaker 1: some kids want to get to go that that's some
- 9:22Speaker 1: crazy mess. That's what happened in our schools. We took
- 9:24Speaker 1: prayer out of schools. And now look at our schools,
- 9:28Speaker 1: our schools. Man, you you you, you you you. You
- 9:31Speaker 1: send your child at school and and and someone else
- 9:35Speaker 1: comes back home. That's a whole another thing right here.
- 9:41Speaker 1: That that's not what I want to talk to you about.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But I was just throwing it out because you know, hey, man,
- 9:46Speaker 1: your relationship with God is essential to your success as
- 9:49Speaker 1: a person. It's essential to your existence. It's essential to
- 9:53Speaker 1: where you're trying to go and what you're trying to be.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Because He made you. Why would you not talk to
- 9:59Speaker 1: the person and that made you to find out what
- 10:01Speaker 1: he created you for. I ain't talking about your parents,
- 10:05Speaker 1: who made your parents? This is God, we created in
- 10:09Speaker 1: his image. Why would you not talk to your maker
- 10:13Speaker 1: to see why you got made? That? That don't that
- 10:16Speaker 1: don't make sense to you. If you're sitting and gotten
- 10:20Speaker 1: yourself in a situation, you're sitting in the jail cell somewhere,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you locked up, you're doing some time, man, be a
- 10:27Speaker 1: good time for you to reflect. But whatever your situation is, man,
- 10:31Speaker 1: God can get you through it. He can give you
- 10:33Speaker 1: the strength the courage to wherewithal the understanding everything you need,
- 10:38Speaker 1: the wisdom to get you through anything you're going through.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You just got a touch base with him. I need
- 10:44Speaker 1: God every single day of my life. And what he's
- 10:50Speaker 1: done for me. Man off the chain. But guess what
- 10:55Speaker 1: you'll do the same thing for you, ladies, gentlemen, boys
- 11:04Speaker 1: and girls. This is a Steve Harvey morning show, the
- 11:07Speaker 1: greatest morning show on planet Earth. There is nothing bigger, better, greater,
- 11:15Speaker 1: stronger on the air. If you don't believe it, turn
- 11:19Speaker 1: around to some other shows. You will be back. I
- 11:25Speaker 1: can name a couple on one of them. So many times. Oh,
- 11:35Speaker 1: he used to just write me off as soon as
- 11:37Speaker 1: I did something here. He tried to write me off
- 11:41Speaker 1: so many times. But look at you now, standard. I
- 11:49Speaker 1: just keep staying yes, do yes, and does yes and
- 11:53Speaker 1: does stand all the time. You can't stop me, can't
- 11:58Speaker 1: a matter stop him if pride, but that can't stop
- 12:01Speaker 1: his asked. You can't do nothing with me. He can
- 12:07Speaker 1: do a damn thing with him, no matter how hard
- 12:13Speaker 1: you try, No matter how hard I'm gonna try. Fitty
- 12:27Speaker 1: foul seventeen. I don't know what it is. Don't tell
- 12:32Speaker 1: me no weapon form to gets me shall possible. Every

- 12:54Speaker 1: you he that ain't in I was seventeen, but I

- 22:06Speaker 1: that brank back. What you got ne w b P. Yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 1: White vote patrol, White vote patroll. This is what I
- 22:20Speaker 1: call white people and ask them who they voted for.
- 22:24Speaker 1: What happens? This is what happens to be in Florida. Hello,
- 22:28Speaker 1: man running customer service, trying to read Sandy. Please, this
- 22:34Speaker 1: is Sandy. How can I help you? Sandy? Uh, listen,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I'm calling with VP and you got a minute. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: just wanted to if you don't mind. I know you're
- 22:44Speaker 1: at work right now, but if you don't mind, um, okay,
- 22:48Speaker 1: I have just okay, So you're in Florida, right, Yes,
- 22:53Speaker 1: how can they help you? Yeah? Like I said, I'm
- 22:55Speaker 1: with and we're trying to actually do a CALLI on
- 23:00Speaker 1: everything that just just took place here in the mid
- 23:02Speaker 1: term election, and we're trying to actually do a tally
- 23:05Speaker 1: on everything. So I wanted to call and see if
- 23:08Speaker 1: I can get us some some information from you, if
- 23:10Speaker 1: that's possible. Okay, So what we're talking, what we're trying
- 23:16Speaker 1: to do was like I said, that the mid term
- 23:17Speaker 1: election is just passed, which w VT. We're trying to
- 23:22Speaker 1: figure out exactly, h who who did you vote for
- 23:25Speaker 1: in the mid term election? Do you want to know
- 23:27Speaker 1: who I voted for? Yeah? Like I said, this is
- 23:30Speaker 1: w v P. What is w v P. What do
- 23:33Speaker 1: you keep saying w v P. What is w v P.
- 23:35Speaker 1: That's White Vote Patrol, White Vote Patrol with Citizens over book,
- 23:40Speaker 1: that's White vote Patrol. Yeah. Yeah, like I said, we
- 23:44Speaker 1: want to see who you voted for in the Who
- 23:48Speaker 1: did you vote for? What do you mean did I
- 23:50Speaker 1: vote for? That's between me and the ballot box. Okay,
- 23:54Speaker 1: that's that's not for me. That's not something you can
- 23:56Speaker 1: ask me what I mean. But like I said, I'm
- 23:59Speaker 1: with to citizens of America. This is w VT and
- 24:02Speaker 1: what would your citizens of America too? And citizens don't
- 24:05Speaker 1: have to tell anybody who they're voted for. We want
- 24:08Speaker 1: to know here with w v P, exactly who you
- 24:12Speaker 1: voted for. What do you want to do with that information?
- 24:15Speaker 1: What do youna do with that information? What you gonna go?
- 24:18Speaker 1: We're tallying up the information and making sure it's correct,
- 24:22Speaker 1: is what we're doing. How can you want against what
- 24:26Speaker 1: taling and make sure I guess what you have white
- 24:30Speaker 1: white people's information, and you're gonna this is the most
- 24:33Speaker 1: ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Okay, so you know people,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you don't ask people who they voted for. Okay, that's
- 24:40Speaker 1: what that's part of America. You can vote throughhoever you want.
- 24:43Speaker 1: You don't have to tell anybody. Okay, but this is
- 24:46Speaker 1: w v T. We're a New Orleans vote for an alligator.
- 24:50Speaker 1: If I want you, I don't have to tell you
- 24:53Speaker 1: or w v you're any DPA what what? Like I said,
- 24:57Speaker 1: we are white Pope patrol and we're trying who are you? What?
- 25:02Speaker 1: What did you say? Your name was? My name is?
- 25:04Speaker 1: My name is Brian? Brian. Well, Brian, you should be
- 25:08Speaker 1: ashamed of yourself calling people up and asking who they
- 25:10Speaker 1: vote for and calling yourself white vote patrol. I don't
- 25:13Speaker 1: call it. I don't. I don't. I don't do a
- 25:15Speaker 1: black vote patrol. I don't do it a red vote
- 25:18Speaker 1: patrol or yellow vote patrol or a Green vote patro.
- 25:22Speaker 1: It's it's an American, Okay, it's an American. But like
- 25:26Speaker 1: I said, just for this particular cally that we're doing
- 25:30Speaker 1: we're needing to know. No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 25:33Speaker 1: no no, there is no way I'm gonna tell you
- 25:35Speaker 1: who I voted for. You don't. You don't tell me
- 25:38Speaker 1: who you voted for? Lady, No, I have not telling you.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I am not it's going to tell you who I
- 25:46Speaker 1: voted for. It's un American. I don't have to, and
- 25:49Speaker 1: you have no business asking me. So you are you
- 25:52Speaker 1: know you were saying, are you as chained who you
- 25:54Speaker 1: voted for? No? I am not ashamed who I am
- 25:57Speaker 1: voted for. You wish you voted for. I am not
- 26:01Speaker 1: ashamed who I voted for. And I want to bran well.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I want to know, Sandy, who you voted for so
- 26:09Speaker 1: I can make a cally of it. And we're calling
- 26:12Speaker 1: people in Florida to see who they voted for. And
- 26:15Speaker 1: I want to know where you work so I can
- 26:17Speaker 1: call customer service there and logical plaint against you. This
- 26:22Speaker 1: is completely probably unconstitutional. I don't really want to continue
- 26:27Speaker 1: to go back and forth with you. Really, I got
- 26:30Speaker 1: a lot of calls to make today. All I want
- 26:32Speaker 1: to know who did you vote for? You pick me off?
- 26:36Speaker 1: This is a completely racist call. I didn't want to
- 26:38Speaker 1: go there, but This is really really sick and racist
- 26:42Speaker 1: to call white people and say, oh, who did you
- 26:44Speaker 1: vote for? What you want to know? If I voted
- 26:47Speaker 1: for somebody white or somebody black? Is that it you
- 26:50Speaker 1: want to know? If I was depositive your I want
- 26:54Speaker 1: to tell you it is done of your business. Okay,
- 26:58Speaker 1: So that is racist, is what it is. Sandy. You
- 27:03Speaker 1: and I can get along if you just give me
- 27:05Speaker 1: the answers that I'm looking for. Well, then you and
- 27:08Speaker 1: I are not going to get along and just get
- 27:10Speaker 1: used to that. Great. Great I'll tell you what. I'll
- 27:13Speaker 1: tell you what the old lady in your office named Wanda.
- 27:17Speaker 1: How do you know who's in my office? Who are you?
- 27:21Speaker 1: You know how I know, Sandy? Because Wanda got me
- 27:26Speaker 1: to play phone call you. This is nephew taught me
- 27:29Speaker 1: from the Steve Harvey b this show. I am get
- 27:33Speaker 1: her back. You got me so mad. I'm still you
- 27:41Speaker 1: know how that she told me. You guys been having
- 27:47Speaker 1: big debates about the mid term and the whole office.
- 27:51Speaker 1: This is the whole office. She better watch her back.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Well you got me, by the way, Tommy, just between
- 28:06Speaker 1: you and me, I voted for jell Oh oh yes
- 28:11Speaker 1: I did. Yeah, you got it out of me. You're
- 28:13Speaker 1: happy you got you gotta give it to me, baby.
- 28:19Speaker 1: What is the baddest radio show in the land, baddest
- 28:23Speaker 1: radio show in the lance? That's Steve Harvey Radio Show.
- 28:27Speaker 1: You know, I don't know because one hasn't playing in
- 28:29Speaker 1: the office every morning. I'm gonna kill it. Did I
- 28:39Speaker 1: go to fun? You think I want to fun? You think? Yeah? Good?
- 28:46Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. I do want to
- 28:47Speaker 1: make sure I did my job. My job is to
- 28:50Speaker 1: go too fun. As long as I did. That were
- 28:52Speaker 1: good that you did that you want to go to
- 28:58Speaker 1: But I hand like your teasing white people? I really don't.
- 29:00Speaker 1: That just doesn't what's that team, Tommy? What kind of
- 29:03Speaker 1: don't like him teasing white people? You're not just you know,

- 33:50Speaker 1: is gentlemen, miss A and trip. Thank you very much, everybody.
- 33:54Speaker 1: This is a trip with the news Let's go. Firefighters
- 33:56Speaker 1: in California continue battling huge blazes. Today. There are two
- 34:00Speaker 1: deadly fires burning, one in the northern part of the state,
- 34:02Speaker 1: the other in the southern part. California Fire Battalion Chief
- 34:05Speaker 1: Matt Spellman says the aim is containment. We're all of
- 34:08Speaker 1: very exhausted, but at this point we have people depending
- 34:11Speaker 1: on us, We have a job to do and we're
- 34:13Speaker 1: not gonna stop until these fires are put out. So far,
- 34:16Speaker 1: the camp fire in north north of Sacramento has left
- 34:19Speaker 1: more than one hundred thousand acres of scorched. The other
- 34:22Speaker 1: fires in the south it's called the Wolvesley fire. That's
- 34:24Speaker 1: Invadentour County, and so far forty four people have been killed.
- 34:29Speaker 1: That's the most of them in the campfire, and some
- 34:32Speaker 1: one people are reported missing around accounted for forty four
- 34:35Speaker 1: people dead. That makes it the deadliest fire in California history.
- 34:38Speaker 1: And while they are now ninety two damaged buildings, they
- 34:41Speaker 1: say seven thousand, one d and seventy seven structures have
- 34:45Speaker 1: been completely destroyed. Here we go again. Innocent black man
- 34:49Speaker 1: has been shot dead by a white cop in suburban Chicago.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Twenty six year old Jamal Robeson working as a security
- 34:54Speaker 1: guarden a club and the mostly black suburb of Robbins, Illinois.
- 34:58Speaker 1: He was a church pianist singer. He wanted to become
- 35:01Speaker 1: a cop. However, while he was holding down a suspect
- 35:04Speaker 1: for the police at gunpoint, a guy that came into
- 35:06Speaker 1: the club and started shooting people. White cops arriving from
- 35:10Speaker 1: a white suburb Collmith Loafi and arrived. They shoot and
- 35:13Speaker 1: kill Robertson without asking any questions and at people at
- 35:16Speaker 1: the scene yelled at Robeson was security. He kept saying
- 35:19Speaker 1: he's security as always. Cops. Sale and investigations underway. Jerald
- 35:23Speaker 1: Roberson's family said is suing. Automatic recount still underway in
- 35:28Speaker 1: three statewide races in Florida. However, officials in one major
- 35:31Speaker 1: county said he might not be able to meet the
- 35:33Speaker 1: deadline two days from now. All sixties seven Florida counties
- 35:36Speaker 1: have until this Thursday afternoon to complete retabs in the
- 35:39Speaker 1: races for governor, US Senate, and state Agriculture Commissioner. However,
- 35:43Speaker 1: election officials in Palm Beach County warning that while they're
- 35:45Speaker 1: working around the clock, they might only be able to
- 35:47Speaker 1: complete count on one contest by Thursday. Florida law says
- 35:51Speaker 1: if a county fails to turn in and recount totals
- 35:53Speaker 1: by the deadline, the results already on file stand it
- 35:57Speaker 1: now remains the scene just which retabulated election was results.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Palm Beach County is willing to turn in final results.
- 36:04Speaker 1: In the U. S. Senate race in Arizona, in Democrat
- 36:07Speaker 1: Kirsten Cinema becomes the first woman sent to the state
- 36:09Speaker 1: from Arizona ever, the first Democrat elect to the Senate
- 36:12Speaker 1: from Arizona in thirty years. And Sad News cartoon Is Stanley,
- 36:19Speaker 1: creator of Spider Man, The Incredible Hulk, and other Marvel
- 36:21Speaker 1: comic book heros, has died at age. Stanley superheroes became
- 36:26Speaker 1: mythic parts of American culture by way of comic books
- 36:28Speaker 1: and movies and TV series. And finally it started. Rumor day,
- 36:34Speaker 1: I wanna start one. This has been answer with the news.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Now back to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening
- 36:39Speaker 1: to Steve Harvey Morning Show. Hey, look, joining me now
- 36:43Speaker 1: as promised everybody. I know you all been sitting there waiting.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I told you the other day it was coming. Well
- 36:49Speaker 1: it's finally here. One of the most dynamic women that
- 36:52Speaker 1: I know. She's a lawyer, an administrator, she's an author,
- 36:57Speaker 1: and she has served as the First Lady of the
- 37:00Speaker 1: United States from two thousand nine to two thousand seventeen.
- 37:05Speaker 1: She's married to the forty four United States President, Barack
- 37:09Speaker 1: Obama and it's the first African American First Lady. She's
- 37:12Speaker 1: released in all new book. It's called Becoming and that's
- 37:16Speaker 1: the story of hope, optimism and a flame that Jess
- 37:20Speaker 1: could not be extinguished. We miss Hawsault, put your hands
- 37:24Speaker 1: together and anything else you got that can clap for
- 37:28Speaker 1: the First Lady Michelle Obama. I need you on the
- 37:34Speaker 1: road with me. You take me. You need to do
- 37:37Speaker 1: that introduction at every venue. Man, I'm doing fun. How
- 37:43Speaker 1: are y'all doing? Are y'all having some fun? We are?
- 37:46Speaker 1: We actually are? I mean, you know, not having the
- 37:49Speaker 1: weight of the world on your shoulders every day? You know?
- 37:54Speaker 1: Easy after that? Everything everything, the party, you know, it's like,
- 38:00Speaker 1: are you responsible for that? Man? And let me say
- 38:07Speaker 1: something on behalf of all of us? And you can
- 38:10Speaker 1: tell this your husb to your husband. Man, We miss y'all,
- 38:14Speaker 1: Gord Jesus, we did not know how good y'all made
- 38:18Speaker 1: it look man ever could do it. Man, you know what,
- 38:26Speaker 1: he did it in such a way, and you did
- 38:29Speaker 1: it in such a way. You had such an impact
- 38:31Speaker 1: as the first Lady because let me just let let
- 38:34Speaker 1: me just highlight some of the stuff that you did. Okay,
- 38:38Speaker 1: this is the effect you had on this country as
- 38:40Speaker 1: the first Lady. Because of your programs, forty five million
- 38:44Speaker 1: kids were eating healthier breakfasts and luncheons and luncheons. Eleven
- 38:49Speaker 1: million students were getting sixty minutes of physical activity every day,
- 38:54Speaker 1: and you helped to persuade businesses to hire more than
- 38:58Speaker 1: wanted a half million veterans and military spouses, all the
- 39:02Speaker 1: while supporting your husband through his two history making terms
- 39:07Speaker 1: and raising two growing girls who I saw a photo
- 39:10Speaker 1: of the other day. They were on the sofa doing
- 39:13Speaker 1: an interview Lord her Mercy, Lord Harry. They are gorgeous
- 39:17Speaker 1: and smart. They took right after their mama. You've got
- 39:23Speaker 1: to be proud of your accomplishments. I am, I am,
- 39:27Speaker 1: and sometimes it's I think, Uh, you know, it was
- 39:30Speaker 1: actually a couple of days ago, uh, as the book
- 39:33Speaker 1: was starting to leak and there were stories coming out,
- 39:35Speaker 1: I I emailed my staff and we've been playing in
- 39:38Speaker 1: this tour and writing this book. And I was like,
- 39:40Speaker 1: oh my god, this is a big deal, you know,
- 39:43Speaker 1: and they were like, you just now lies in that,
- 39:45Speaker 1: And It's like, who do I think I am writing
- 39:47Speaker 1: a book being first Lady? What's all this? Coming up?
- 39:53Speaker 1: More with the former First Lady Michelle Obama at thirty
- 39:55Speaker 1: four after the hour you're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 40:01Speaker 1: All right, Seeve, you can continue. This is great right here,
- 40:04Speaker 1: continue your conversation with Michelle Obama, our first Lady forever
- 40:09Speaker 1: in our hearts. You know what, Let's talk about the
- 40:11Speaker 1: book a little bit. This book has given me a
- 40:14Speaker 1: moment to be able to step back and reflect on
- 40:17Speaker 1: all that just happened. Um, and yeah, it's it's yes.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I am proud. I'm proud of my husband. I'm proud
- 40:27Speaker 1: of us as a family, you know, and not just
- 40:30Speaker 1: the girls, but Grandma, you know, you know, we we
- 40:34Speaker 1: all got through this thing, and and I think you
- 40:37Speaker 1: know we we we did okay, So no, no, no,
- 40:41Speaker 1: you did way beyond. And I don't think we appreciated
- 40:46Speaker 1: it fully until you left because your husband made it
- 40:51Speaker 1: look he made it look effortless. What a class, but
- 40:56Speaker 1: what a class family. And you know this is really
- 40:59Speaker 1: just lifting the Obama's because man, you all were something
- 41:04Speaker 1: that the nation could be proud of, as as as
- 41:08Speaker 1: a family in the White House. And for that, we
- 41:10Speaker 1: just say thank you so much. Well, thank you, Steve,
- 41:12Speaker 1: and thank you. Thank thank you to you and to
- 41:15Speaker 1: your your listeners, because you know, you can't be great
- 41:19Speaker 1: unless you've got a great support system, and we've had
- 41:22Speaker 1: that from the beginning. So you know, I want to
- 41:25Speaker 1: thank everybody who set a prayer for us, and who
- 41:27Speaker 1: worked for us, and everybody who voted in these past
- 41:30Speaker 1: mid term elections. Voting doesn't matter. Let's not let that
- 41:35Speaker 1: slip by voting matters. Thank you for that. S that's
- 41:39Speaker 1: very kind of you. This is like an amazing First
- 41:42Speaker 1: of all, it's gonna sit at number one on the
- 41:44Speaker 1: New York Times Bestselling list for sixteen weeks minimum, it
- 41:49Speaker 1: could be more, because I think this book is what
- 41:53Speaker 1: we've been waiting for. Like you said, who do you
- 41:55Speaker 1: think you are to write a book? Well, I'll tell
- 41:57Speaker 1: you what. It's the book we've been waiting on the
- 42:00Speaker 1: because in this new book, Becoming, you talked so beautifully
- 42:03Speaker 1: about the community that you grew up in the importance
- 42:06Speaker 1: of your family. Can you share a little bit about
- 42:09Speaker 1: the role of your family and and and how it
- 42:11Speaker 1: played and how your life unfolded. Yeah, I mean, I
- 42:14Speaker 1: say the book is a uh story of ordinary life,
- 42:19Speaker 1: uh lived in an extraordinary way. Um, because how I
- 42:22Speaker 1: grew up, as you know, is how millions of black
- 42:26Speaker 1: folks grew up. You know, we grew up in a
- 42:28Speaker 1: community you know where we lived with our family, and
- 42:31Speaker 1: our family was everybody was on uncles and grandparents and
- 42:36Speaker 1: you know there was bid with and jazz and barbecue
- 42:41Speaker 1: and you know love, um, and Uh, that's what fueled
- 42:46Speaker 1: us in expectation. You know, even though you know my
- 42:51Speaker 1: parents didn't go to college, my grandparents didn't go to college.
- 42:54Speaker 1: They they held up a high bar for us as
- 42:58Speaker 1: as as as people. Um, and you know, we always
- 43:02Speaker 1: sell an obligation to live up to that. I mean
- 43:04Speaker 1: to see my father, who was disabled from the time
- 43:08Speaker 1: I could remember him, you know, and seeing him getting
- 43:11Speaker 1: up and going to work every day without complaint. I've
- 43:13Speaker 1: talked about this throughout my my time and politics. You know,
- 43:18Speaker 1: it's hard to be half baked when you are raised
- 43:22Speaker 1: in the house by a man like that you know. Um.
- 43:25Speaker 1: And every day, Steve, I live to make my family proud,
- 43:30Speaker 1: in my community proud. Um. But there's nothing new, you
- 43:35Speaker 1: know this. You know, there are communities like the one
- 43:37Speaker 1: I grew up in all over this nation. Um. It's
- 43:42Speaker 1: just important for us to tell our stories because I
- 43:45Speaker 1: think people think we don't exist. You know, they've got
- 43:48Speaker 1: what one image of what it means to be black. Um.
- 43:51Speaker 1: They don't know that we are so complex, and we
- 43:54Speaker 1: are so faithful, and that we are so uh linked
- 43:58Speaker 1: to our family um uh you know. And and that's
- 44:01Speaker 1: why I'm proud to tell my story, because I want
- 44:05Speaker 1: people to know all of who I am so that
- 44:07Speaker 1: they're not mistaken at all. And this book, you know,
- 44:12Speaker 1: I try to make it a story so that it's
- 44:15Speaker 1: not just a chronology of things. But it's a story
- 44:18Speaker 1: of this little girl, Michelle Robinson, who grew up on
- 44:21Speaker 1: the South Side with a big brother, and she got
- 44:23Speaker 1: into some fights, and she had some some challenges, and
- 44:27Speaker 1: she went to public school and she got hit in
- 44:29Speaker 1: the mouth by a bully and you know, she you know,
- 44:32Speaker 1: and and it's a it's a set of stories that
- 44:35Speaker 1: I hope take people along the journey because I get
- 44:37Speaker 1: that question all the time. It's like, how did a
- 44:39Speaker 1: girl from the South side of Chicago wind up this
- 44:42Speaker 1: first Lady of the United States? And this is the
- 44:46Speaker 1: answer to that, at least as that I can see
- 44:48Speaker 1: it coming up more with the former first Lady, Michelle
- 44:51Speaker 1: Obama right after this, you're listening to coming up at
- 44:57Speaker 1: the top of the hour, right about four minutes after,
- 45:00Speaker 1: it's Today's Strawberry Letter, the subject my wife and kids.
- 45:05Speaker 1: All right, see, you can continue your conversation with Michelle Obama.
- 45:10Speaker 1: You know what you said something a minute ago, you
- 45:12Speaker 1: said that your parents raised you and they set the
- 45:15Speaker 1: bar high. Is that has to be a part of
- 45:19Speaker 1: your what has now become your famous slogan that says
- 45:23Speaker 1: when they go low, we go high. That's got to
- 45:27Speaker 1: be behind that. Well, you know it is, you know,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you know, because it's not just the house we live
- 45:33Speaker 1: in the community. We lived with values. You know, my
- 45:37Speaker 1: parents lived out the values that they believed in your words,
- 45:41Speaker 1: your bond. You know, you know they kept their word
- 45:44Speaker 1: when they promised thats something, they made it happen. If
- 45:47Speaker 1: they couldn't do it, they put it out on the table.
- 45:49Speaker 1: You know. My father was the kind of father. You know.
- 45:52Speaker 1: My brother asked him where we rich one day, and
- 45:56Speaker 1: he went and took he got his paycheck, cast it all,
- 46:00Speaker 1: got it all in once, brought it down on the
- 46:04Speaker 1: kitchen table and laid out all the bills that he
- 46:07Speaker 1: had to pay, and he put money down on each
- 46:10Speaker 1: bill to cover it. Uh. And then he showed my
- 46:14Speaker 1: brother what was left after all the bills were paid.
- 46:18Speaker 1: And then he said, now you tell me, do you
- 46:21Speaker 1: think we're rich? Um. That's the kind of teacher my
- 46:25Speaker 1: father was. You know, he wasn't in your face. He
- 46:27Speaker 1: loved us deeply. And the other thing for me, Steve,
- 46:30Speaker 1: And I know, I don't want I want the men
- 46:32Speaker 1: to hear this for me having a father and a brother,
- 46:37Speaker 1: men in my life who adored me, you know, and
- 46:41Speaker 1: respected me. Um. When I when my brother learned to box,
- 46:45Speaker 1: I learned to box. When my brother learned to throw
- 46:48Speaker 1: a ball, I learned to throw a ball. I was
- 46:51Speaker 1: not a second class citizen among the men in my household.
- 46:55Speaker 1: I was an equal. My voice meant something to my father. Um.
- 47:00Speaker 1: And and it's important for men out there to understand, Steve.
- 47:04Speaker 1: You know this as a father to daughters, you know,
- 47:08Speaker 1: having a a strong man who loves you deeply, and
- 47:13Speaker 1: a brother who loves you deeply, who would do anything
- 47:16Speaker 1: for you. That that just that that I think that
- 47:20Speaker 1: armed me and equip me and made me ready for anything.
- 47:25Speaker 1: You know. You know that does give you something special,
- 47:28Speaker 1: doesn't it, Because it's and what you're saying is really important,
- 47:31Speaker 1: because its important for men to understand that even if
- 47:35Speaker 1: your relationship with your child's mother is strained, the importance
- 47:40Speaker 1: of you remaining active and available in that child's life
- 47:44Speaker 1: is absolutely priceless. And it is particularly priceless for the girl.
- 47:49Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that it doesn't matter for sons,
- 47:52Speaker 1: but um me having strong men in my life, you know,
- 47:57Speaker 1: role models. And you know I was fortunate I had.
- 48:00Speaker 1: I had men all around me. My both my grandparents,
- 48:03Speaker 1: my my grandparents, my grandfather's were alive. I grew up
- 48:07Speaker 1: with them, you know, my uncle's. I had tons of uncles,
- 48:11Speaker 1: tons of male cousins. My best of our best cousins
- 48:14Speaker 1: with two boys and we would box and roll around
- 48:17Speaker 1: and you know, I was right up in there with them.
- 48:20Speaker 1: And I think that gave me a level of confidence,
- 48:23Speaker 1: you know, when I had to go out in the
- 48:24Speaker 1: world and tackle things that you know, I knew I
- 48:29Speaker 1: I could, I could hold my own um, and sometimes
- 48:33Speaker 1: we underestimate that. And I think it's important for you know,
- 48:38Speaker 1: parents out there, especially when you're wondering how do you
- 48:40Speaker 1: raig strong girls? They need to have strong men in
- 48:43Speaker 1: their lives. I love them and take care of them
- 48:46Speaker 1: and nurture them. You know. I think about the number
- 48:48Speaker 1: of girls who grow up and suffer from abuse, whether
- 48:51Speaker 1: it's physical or emotional. They'd suffer at the hands, you know,
- 48:55Speaker 1: and that and that causes a ding in in the
- 48:58Speaker 1: psyche of a woman. Uh, that can really mess us up. Um,
- 49:04Speaker 1: So they've got to be protected, uh growing up. And
- 49:08Speaker 1: I had that. Yeah, let me ask you one other question,
- 49:11Speaker 1: because I know you're busy. I know you're pushing everything.
- 49:14Speaker 1: How did you come up with the title becoming? You know,
- 49:17Speaker 1: it just it just appeared, you know. We you know,
- 49:21Speaker 1: I was sitting down with my my, uh, the team
- 49:25Speaker 1: of folks that I would bounce stuff off us, and
- 49:30Speaker 1: we were like, we got to come up with a
- 49:32Speaker 1: title for this book. You know, we played around. I
- 49:34Speaker 1: thought I was starting to do it like a blooper
- 49:36Speaker 1: reel of titles, but I can't. We never wrote them down. Um.
- 49:40Speaker 1: And one of the folks said, what about the coming?
- 49:44Speaker 1: And immediately I just like, that's it, because that's what
- 49:47Speaker 1: the story is. It's you know, it becoming is it's
- 49:54Speaker 1: it's constantly evolving. You know. That's what my you know
- 49:59Speaker 1: what I'm trying to sort of explain in the title
- 50:02Speaker 1: that we we never reach a place where we just
- 50:05Speaker 1: are and that's it, you know. I start the book
- 50:08Speaker 1: off where, you know, when I'm little, I say one
- 50:10Speaker 1: of the questions I hate the most is what are
- 50:12Speaker 1: you going to be when you grow up? You know,
- 50:14Speaker 1: it's the dumbest question you can have. Ask a kid this.
- 50:17Speaker 1: You grow up and become something and that's the end,
- 50:20Speaker 1: you know, it's it's it's not finite. Life is a continuum,
- 50:24Speaker 1: you know. And I find that I'm evolving now. I
- 50:27Speaker 1: haven't become all that I'm going to be. I've got
- 50:30Speaker 1: a whole another chapter or two left. Um And and
- 50:34Speaker 1: how sad would it be if there wasn't more left? Um?
- 50:39Speaker 1: So we are all in the process of becoming. Um.
- 50:43Speaker 1: So that's that's where it can It just all seemed
- 50:45Speaker 1: to fall into place now. I think that's absolutely it.
- 50:49Speaker 1: I feel the same way, I've watched this video of
- 50:52Speaker 1: you about this upcoming book. I watched this ten minute video.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I was so moved by it. I think Becoming is
- 50:59Speaker 1: the perfect name for the book. I think it's gonna
- 51:02Speaker 1: inspire so many people. And what what I want people
- 51:06Speaker 1: to know is that this book is available to date.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Uh it's in both print at every bookstore that sells books,
- 51:14Speaker 1: and it's in digital formats, so Kendall, Amazon, however you
- 51:18Speaker 1: do it. You download the book on iTunes, it don't matter.
- 51:21Speaker 1: You can go get it. And it's oh, I tried that,
- 51:28Speaker 1: you know. Boy, you know they stopped me after forty minutes, Michelle,
- 51:32Speaker 1: they stopped me after fortament. That's a son, So you
- 51:35Speaker 1: can't sound like that. I wasn't talking proper enough. They
- 51:43Speaker 1: had to cut off mine. What is that? Yeah? Yeah,
- 51:48Speaker 1: look a here don't sound good. Yeah, look a here
- 51:52Speaker 1: is not for digital. It's not in the book. That's
- 51:55Speaker 1: not in the English dictionary. You know what. Already I
- 52:00Speaker 1: recorded the whole book. I got through the whole thing.
- 52:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm I'm I'm gonna get the audio then,
- 52:06Speaker 1: because that that would be fascinating for me. I'm going
- 52:09Speaker 1: to get the audio and to tell me what you think,
- 52:13Speaker 1: because I'm I'm sending you a copy for sure. We'll
- 52:16Speaker 1: do it, because you know I'm gonna chop it up
- 52:18Speaker 1: and put excerpts on the radio show. Oh I'm called
- 52:21Speaker 1: it right, man, I've beendn't blow this up. I ain't
- 52:25Speaker 1: got nothing else to do. I ain't read about six books.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Well you don't. You don't have anything else to do, Steve,
- 52:32Speaker 1: You've got jobs. Girl. I'm trying to get I'm like you,
- 52:37Speaker 1: I'm becoming. I'm trying to get myself together as man.
- 52:43Speaker 1: I need it because I found out something. I was
- 52:47Speaker 1: having a real allergic reactions and I didn't know it,
- 52:51Speaker 1: and I discovered it about I think it's maybe twenty
- 52:54Speaker 1: years ago. I'm actually allergic to poverty and it was
- 52:59Speaker 1: causing so many problems. I said, I got to in this,
- 53:03Speaker 1: and so I just started saying yes to everything. Hey, listen,
- 53:09Speaker 1: we're gonna get this book. The book is becoming. It's
- 53:12Speaker 1: available today in both printing digital formats. Is published in
- 53:15Speaker 1: twenty four languages. We have a copy of it. Michelle Obama,
- 53:20Speaker 1: we miss you, your husband and your family. Lord have mercy.
- 53:24Speaker 1: We wish you'all was back, but then I really don't
- 53:27Speaker 1: because I want you all to take this phase in
- 53:28Speaker 1: your life and go and do something else and enjoy it,
- 53:31Speaker 1: and we'll deal with whatever's left. Well, we'll make it work.
- 53:35Speaker 1: We love you. Thank you, Steve. I love you so much.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Michelle Obama, everybody, first, lady in
- 53:44Speaker 1: the building. You're listening to Steve Harvey Morning Show. Al Right, guys,

- 54:03Speaker 1: when Steve tells you go ahead. You know I don't.
- 54:06Speaker 1: I want you to stop asking me that you said it.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Want don't ask me no more about Steve. That's how
- 54:12Speaker 1: we're gonna do it from now. And I'm gonna put
- 54:13Speaker 1: it in the show that you not asked me that anyway.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Why I don't want to be I don't care. Well,
- 54:22Speaker 1: how about or don't attitude? Well, I'm glad they still
- 54:29Speaker 1: trying to help you. Yeah, people have issues, Steve. They
- 54:32Speaker 1: want to hear from us up. Hold on tight. Here
- 54:35Speaker 1: it is Strawberry letter, Thank you nephew, subject my wife
- 54:39Speaker 1: and kids. Dear Steven Shirley, this is probably the hardest
- 54:43Speaker 1: decision I've ever had to make. I have two teenage
- 54:46Speaker 1: children and their mother and I separated uh ten years ago,
- 54:51Speaker 1: but I have maintained a solid co parenting relationship. Five
- 54:55Speaker 1: years ago, I got remarried and my new wife seemed
- 54:58Speaker 1: to accept my children and played a decent role as
- 55:01Speaker 1: a step mom. That didn't last long, and she eventually
- 55:04Speaker 1: started treating them poorly. My teenagers became increasingly uncomfortable when
- 55:09Speaker 1: they came over for the weekend. Over time, things have
- 55:12Speaker 1: gotten worse, and my children started making excuses not to
- 55:16Speaker 1: come over. My mother in law has come to live
- 55:19Speaker 1: with us temporarily, and she has added fuel to the
- 55:22Speaker 1: fire by saying that my children are getting older and
- 55:25Speaker 1: don't need to come over as often as they used to,
- 55:28Speaker 1: and since my mother in law is there, my wife
- 55:30Speaker 1: says there's no room for the kids on the weekends.
- 55:33Speaker 1: I've told my wife that her mother is not going
- 55:35Speaker 1: to live with us permanently, but my children will forever
- 55:38Speaker 1: be a part of our lives. My wife and my
- 55:41Speaker 1: mother in law are depriving me of quality time with
- 55:43Speaker 1: my children. I told her that our home will always
- 55:47Speaker 1: be open to my children, whether she likes it or not.
- 55:50Speaker 1: I'm tired of arguing about it, so I've decided it's
- 55:53Speaker 1: time for me to go because my sole responsibility in
- 55:56Speaker 1: life is to my children. No matter how much I
- 55:59Speaker 1: love my life, I would never put her before my children.
- 56:03Speaker 1: I have told her that I want a divorce because
- 56:06Speaker 1: I will not live without my children. My wife does
- 56:08Speaker 1: not seem to care how this affects me, So I
- 56:11Speaker 1: need to know. Am I wrong for deciding to leave
- 56:14Speaker 1: this woman? How would you handle this situation? Please help?
- 56:18Speaker 1: Wow my wife and kids? Uh aptly titled, I would say,
- 56:23Speaker 1: but um, yeah, your wife is the issue here because
- 56:28Speaker 1: she wants to separate you and your children. Now, as
- 56:32Speaker 1: far as putting your kids first and all of that,
- 56:35Speaker 1: you know, if you want to get biblical, it says, um,
- 56:38Speaker 1: you know, leaving when you get married, leaving cleave. But
- 56:41Speaker 1: your kids were there before your wife, so you know
- 56:45Speaker 1: this is a problem because um, you're letting your wife dictate, um,
- 56:50Speaker 1: how you should what kind of relationship you should you
- 56:52Speaker 1: have with your kids? And uh, the kind of relationship
- 56:56Speaker 1: that you have with them? Is wrong because they're constantly
- 56:59Speaker 1: getting out of your life. I'm glad you took a stand.
- 57:03Speaker 1: I'm glad you stepped up and stood up to your wife.
- 57:06Speaker 1: And uh, you know, I don't necessarily know if divorce
- 57:09Speaker 1: is the way to go in this situation, but you
- 57:12Speaker 1: guys definitely definitely need to work on this marriage here.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I hate this because it's breaking
- 57:22Speaker 1: up a family, and not just one family, but two families,
- 57:25Speaker 1: and your mother in law is there and she's adding
- 57:27Speaker 1: fuel to the fire. You guys really need to to
- 57:31Speaker 1: talk about this situation. I don't know if you have already,
- 57:35Speaker 1: but you really need to talk because your your kids
- 57:37Speaker 1: are the ones that are losing out of precious time,
- 57:40Speaker 1: like you say, with their father, and they need that
- 57:43Speaker 1: no matter how old they are, you'll always be their father. Um.
- 57:47Speaker 1: I think divorce is taking it too far right now
- 57:50Speaker 1: before you guys sit down and talk about it, though, Steve, Well,
- 57:56Speaker 1: I think they've had lots of talks. Mm hmm. The
- 58:00Speaker 1: thing has gotten worse over time, things have gotten worse,
- 58:03Speaker 1: and your children started making excuses not to come over
- 58:07Speaker 1: because kids get older, they get smarter. She mistreat us,
- 58:11Speaker 1: She don't want us over there, so they didn't started
- 58:15Speaker 1: making excuses. Now my mother in law, your mother in
- 58:18Speaker 1: law has come to live with us temporarily, and she
- 58:21Speaker 1: didn't add a few to the fire by saying that
- 58:23Speaker 1: my children are getting older and don't need to come
- 58:26Speaker 1: over as often as they used to. Now, see your
- 58:28Speaker 1: asses the one that's too old, See the mother in law,
- 58:32Speaker 1: she's the one that got older and don't need to
- 58:34Speaker 1: be there. See, that's the one that that that's see
- 58:38Speaker 1: that that my mother in law has come to live
- 58:40Speaker 1: with us temper and she's added by saying that my
- 58:43Speaker 1: children are getting older and don't need to come over
- 58:46Speaker 1: as often as they used to. She the one don't
- 58:48Speaker 1: need to be over there. All the mother in law don't.
- 58:52Speaker 1: So I found that disturbing. Then your wife says there's
- 58:57Speaker 1: no room for the kids on the weekend because her
- 59:01Speaker 1: mama there. Wait, hold on, hold on, I can't see
- 59:04Speaker 1: my kids because your mama here. Your wife and mother
- 59:09Speaker 1: in law depriving your quality time with your children. And
- 59:14Speaker 1: then you told her that your home always got to
- 59:16Speaker 1: be open to the kids. See, I'm with this guy
- 59:19Speaker 1: right here. I'm tired of arguing about it. So I've
- 59:22Speaker 1: decided it's time for me to go see Sherley. I
- 59:25Speaker 1: think they've discussed this many times, and the discussions to
- 59:29Speaker 1: turn into argument. Why I don't want him over here?
- 59:32Speaker 1: The man want to see his kids, she don't want
- 59:34Speaker 1: him over here. Now, what type of woman listen to
- 59:39Speaker 1: what I'm about to say to your care What type
- 59:42Speaker 1: of woman stop some man from being with his kids?
- 59:46Speaker 1: You want me tell you what type evil? A lot
- 59:49Speaker 1: of There are a lot, Sully. You would be stunned
- 59:56Speaker 1: how many women out there are making it hard for
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: a man to have relationship with his children because she
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: feels as she don't want to be the attachment to
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: the ex wife or the woman. She don't want them
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: kids in here interfering what they got going. Maybe she
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: don't want them around their kids. It is a lot
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: of women who do this, and it is sad because man,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: when a man wants to take care of his children,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: there's nothing worse than you being his wife stopping him
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: from doing that. Not even your mammy that came over
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: there talking about some damn mom in law exactly who
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I'm talking about, laying up in here eating crackling and
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: corn bread and some damn buttermilk, talking about. It's just two.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: There's no room for these kids. They too old to
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: come over here. They don't need to come over, and
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: often they used to. They're getting older. Your ask the
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: one that's old. But what chill? I'm just saying, how
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: old you know? You never get too old to go
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: see your parents? What is that? However old they are,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: what difference do you meant? Now? They can't come over
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: no more? Put the mom in law over there now.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: The man said he didn't talked about her. He tired
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: arguing about it. He figures time for him to go.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: It's a divorce. Now, he says, something that you touched
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: on it will get into I would never put her
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: in front of my kids. All right, Steve, let's get
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: a problem. Let's take a break here. We'll be back
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: at twenty three after the hour with part two of
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: your response to my wife and kids. Right after this
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you're listening to show, Steve, let's recap today's letter. My dude, Uh,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: wife don't want the kids over their no mo and
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: then mom and Laude moved in. Okay, here we go.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: Now this man can't have relationship it with his kids
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: because of his mother in law. Irma over there. Her
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: name is Irma, That's what the name I picked. I
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: told my wife that her mama not gonna be living
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: with us permanently or my children would ever be in
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: our lives forever. My wife and mother in law depriving
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: me of quality time with my children. And I told
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: our home will always be over to my children, whether
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: she likes it or not. And I'm tired of arguing
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: about it. So I didn't decide it it's time for
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: me to go because my sole responsibility and life is
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: to my children. No matter how much I love my wife,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: we really got more responsibilities than our children. The sad
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: part is your mother in law and wife don't want
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: you to have relationship with your kids. And that's so sad.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: That is so sad, and I would never put her
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: before my children. Well, because she's making you choose, and
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I've told her I want a divorce because I will
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: not live without my children. And now your wife don't
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: seem to care how this affects me. Well, she loved
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: her mama. Let her live with her mama, her mamma. There,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: live with your mama. You got who you want, So
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I need to know. Am I wrong for deciding to
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: lead this woman, I buy you need no counseling. You're
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: married to her eva half far and her mama evil
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: and she got it from my mama cause her mama
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: ain't even girl. You need to let this man have
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: the life of these kids now, she hadn't fuel to
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: the fire. Leave both for me. Man, Go on where
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: you're going, because you ain't gonna be happy, man feeling
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: like you don't. You don't, you don't left your kids.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: It's a dog on shame, man. But I promise you
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: you'll be able to find a woman to be accepting
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: that you ain't them kids. But he's gonna be a
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: little hesitant, don't you think now, Steve, because she was
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: with it at first and then she changed. I've been
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: here already. I would have been in everything. I walk
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: out of there, so fast back, go walking in and
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: kiss her and Grama come on over here, Marma on
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: school waving me. You know what you want to buy
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: a kiss? Yeah, that's what I not gonna leave. Yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: be out, I'll be out. Don't make no sense. I
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: ain't doing this with you. Ain't shifting She's wrong, that's
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: just yeah, we ain't doing this. Man, Listen to the
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: two dudes that didn't as some divorced. We're not doing
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: this hen experience? Yeah, can you beat there? No an experience? Wow,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: you know I feel I do feel badly for the kids.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: I do, because they don't even want to come over,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: and they make excuses. They make excuses, and this woman,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: it's crazy. Well, let's just man, have relationship with us children.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: That's crazy. First, she seemed to accept the children and
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: played a decent role in step mom, but that didn't
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: last long. It says, right, so down, that's it. Time
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: for re enact. Okay, oh man, I'm ready. The girl,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: je you the wife, don't want the kids over, Let's go.

- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I need a name. Arline, understand arline, earline. The kids
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: coming over there we can know whoa whoa. No, they're
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: not coming over here. We are right over us Stanley
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: several times, this is our house, not your kids in
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: our house. There's not coming over again. Listen to me,
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: baby baby. We can talk about this bunch and told
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: you I don't I won't have a relationship with my kids.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: I don't want to hear that. And you're don't even
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: have truth between me or your kids, and I ain't
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: you know, and hey, it ain't no problem that you
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: know took this. You took this re enactment right up
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: to the end. So now we have to divorce already
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: if you want me or you want them damn kids.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Well I want the kids. I want to kids. All
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: y'all just going back going ain't no problem, ain't no problem.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: This relationship is not gonna work with you me and
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: your kids. No, no, no, no, no. It's me, you,
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: the kids, and your mammy. That's why they ain't working. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: my mama. Yeah, that's how you're something my mama. Yeah,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that's how. That's how I have never That's why you
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: can't even keep the refrigerator cool. She's standing in it
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all day because you're gonna sit there and disrespect me
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: and my mama. Your mama don't like my kids, have
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: been here to the kids. My mama don't like you.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: My mama don't like nothing about you. But you're not
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: gonna disrespect my mama, mama, No problem, no problem. That's
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: why that's why we're getting a divorce right there, like shocking, hurt,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: I don't do you see a tear in my No,
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: and I don't want to be no tear in your look.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I look like I'm upset to you and your look ragged?
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: Amount kids is leaving? Who whaha, my kids got ragged?
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Moun Have you seen your mama last? Have you seen
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: your mama? Mama all your kid's mouth look like a
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: phone bill, just all full of holes. Wow, wow, well
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: well well well how about this though, at least my
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: kids got teeth. It's real. Your mama ain't got a
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: tooth in her head, and the one she do has,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: you need to get it took out because it looks crazy.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: It shouldn't have been there all alone that one day.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: All right, it's time, guys email us her Instagram. I'm
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: your thoughts on today's Strawberry Letter at Steve Harvey FM
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: and listen. Coming up in ten minutes, we have a
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: message for the people of the great state of Mississippi
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: concerning this runoff election. Please listen carefully. All right, we'll
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: be back right after this. You're listening to Steve Harvey
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Morning Show. A day after footage emerged of US Senator
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Cindy Hyde Smith, a Republican out of Mississippi, making laughing
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: comments about going to a public hanging. Her African American
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: Democratic opponent, Mike sp responded on Monday, calling the statement
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: awful and tone death all right. Uh. In a video
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: of a two below Mississippi campaign stop released on Sunday, UH,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Cindy Hyde Smith said she'd attend even a public hanging
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: if invited by the cattle rancher with whom she met
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that day. She said, I'd be on the front row.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: She was laughing when she said that. The video quickly
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: went viral. Uh. Cindy Hyde Smith faces a runoff election
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: against Mike sp on sp on November. You know what,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: it's a dog on Shane that this country's is in
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: in in this type of thing. It's it's it's like
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: we're taking steps back, and we're taking steps back because
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: of the red rick that's coming from the White House. See,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: you get a chance to grow if you can start
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: squashing some things silently. But once the silence has taken
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: away and you can publicly say what you wanna say
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: with no repercussions, then it sends another message to those
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: behind you, younger people. Hey, it's back to business as usual.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: That's why I've always hated the phrase, make America great
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: again because you want to go back to when because
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: right now we keep going back to what we thought
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: was a day gone by. And now this woman, Cindy Smith,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Cindy Hide Smith, that's running against this African American man
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: in Mississippi. For her to make such an insensitive remark,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I mean totally instant. What happens though, all public have
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: been and we know why. So now for you to
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: say this that you would follow this man if he
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: had a public hanging, you'd be sitting on the front
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: row of it. Who does that? Why would we wanted
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: elected official? That's okay with the public hanging, you, lady,
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I think because your president has gotten away with this,
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: that is okay for you. But we're gonna put a
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: stop to some of this because the power of the
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: vote is real. This runoff in Mississippi. We're gonna get
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: serious about this candidate. We're gonna show up some numbers
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: because I got news for you. There are non African
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Americans who don't agree with this type of rhetoric. That's right,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: that's they are. It's not a broad sweeping statement about
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: how non African Americans feel. No, it's you making asinine
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: remarks because you think it's okay now because you can
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: take your gloves off and do the these jokes. Well,
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, it's not okay and you shouldn't
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: be allowed. And we can and we can do something
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: about this. Uh, Cindy Hyde Smith in Mississippi, we could
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: do something with We can do something about you with
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: the vote in the When is the runoff November? You're
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: not getting in Let's claim it, shut it down, let's
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: claim it. See the runoff is what day is that?
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: The day after Thanksgiving? No Thanksgiving? Right, it's the week
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: after Still listen to me. You're not getting in office
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: because we don't want that. We don't want that in
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: the United States, we don't we don't want it in Mississippi.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Those days of Mississippi burning they over with the Freedom Riders.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: What was done to those people, Those days are done.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: You can't do that anymore. You know. I hate to
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: tell you this. The majority of your football team in
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: Mississippi State and Old miss happened to be happened to
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: be African American men and women. That's who they happened
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: to be. In spite of your past, you have found
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: out that you really need these people, that these people
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: make valuable contributions to the to the economy of Mississippi,
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: to the welfare of Mississippi. So, Cindy Hi Smith, you're
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: not gonna be in office. We're not gonna sit here
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: and let it happen. We're not voting for you because
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: of that racist statement you made. We don't need no
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: more of that in office. We got enough of that
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: as we do. Yes, y'all get out and vote. Let's
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: get it done Mississippi. Let's get to the post. We're
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: not putting up with this black off white. We're not
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: tolerating this. This is not who we are. This ain't
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: who Mississippi continues to be. Mississippi has made some strides.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: You're not You're not gonna take us back. You're not
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: gonna do it, Steve, You're not taking us back. We
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: don't care what you say. And then they were clapping people.
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: On the video, it's really loud because it was a
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: train going by. I would play it for you, but
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: you can't really hear what she was saying. But then
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: they clapping for her. But then she's laughing and she's
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: saying it and making people think this all right, and
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: this is where detention come and this way it's gonna
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: get physical. They clapped for the president when he makes
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: ignorant remove ye disgusting, it really is. Yeah, you know,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: Mississippi vote for Mike Spa, the Democrat. He's you can't yeah,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: period can't be representative of who you truly are. She
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: can't be. I just refused to believe that. Now, there
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: are some people who that's not gonna sway, I got it.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: But it's enough of us who will. So that's who
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: we're going with. That's right. It's a shame. This is
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: this is two thousand eighteen getting ready to be two
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: thousand nineteen. But here we are again. Attention. Just don't
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: stop though, Man's like, you know, I try to turn it.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I try to turn the TV now because it's two
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: tis Yeah, it's stressful. No, I don't turn you keep
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: looking at it. No, I get it anyway, crazy all right, well, alright,
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: coming up of the encore presentation of Steve's interview with
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: First Lady Michelle Obama, our first lady. Right after this
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: you're listening to show. Hey, look joining me now, as
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: promised everybody, one of the most dynamic women that I know.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: She's a lawyer and administs Straighter. She's an author, and
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: she has served as the First Lady of the United
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: States from two thousand nine to two thousand seventeen. She's
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: married to the forty four United States President, Barack Obama,
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: and it's the first African American First Lady. She's released
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: in all new books. It's called Becoming And that's the
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: story of hope, optimism, and a flame that j could
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: not be extinguished. We miss her, soult put your hands
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: together for the first Lady, Michelle Obama. I need you
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: on the road with me. You take me. You need
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: to do that introduction at every venue. Man, I'm doing fun.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: How are y'all doing? Are y'all having some fun? We are?
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: We actually are? I mean, you know, not having the
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: weight of the world on your shoulders every day? You
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: know everything? Everything you know? Responi, man, and let me
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: say something on behalf of all of us and you
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: can tell this your hust to your husband. Man, We
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: miss y'all. Oh Jesus, we did not know how good
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: y'all made it look look easy, didn't man? Everybody thought
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I could do it? Man, you know what he did
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: it in such a way, and you did it in
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: such a way. You had such an impact as the
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: First Lady because let me just let me just highlight
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: some of the stuff that you did. Okay, this is
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: the effect you had on this country as the First Lady.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Because of your programs, Forty five million kids were eating
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: healthier breakfasts and luncheons and luncheons. Eleven million students were
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: getting sixty minutes of physical activity every day, and you
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: helped to persuade businesses to how all, then why did
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I have million veterans and military spouses, all the while
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: supporting your husband through his two history making terms and
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: raising to growing girls. You've got to be proud of
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: your accomplishments. I am. I am, And sometimes it's I think, uh,
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: you know. It was actually a couple of days ago
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: the book was starting to leak and there were stories
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: coming out and I was like, oh my god, this
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: is a big deal, you know, and they were like,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: you just now realized lies in that, And it's like,
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: who do I think I am writing a book being
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: first Lady? What's all this? You know what, Let's talk
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: about the book a little bit. This book has given
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: me a moment to be able to step back and
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: reflect on all that just happened. Yes, I am proud.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I'm proud of my husband. I'm proud of us as
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: a family and not just the girls, the grandma. You know,
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: we all got through this thing and and I think
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: you know we we did okay, So you did way
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: beyond and I don't think we appreciated it fully until
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: you left because your husband, he made it look effortless.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: What a class but what a class family. And you
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: know this is really just uplifting the Obama's because man,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: you all were something that the nation could be proud of,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: as as as a family in the White House. And
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: for that we just say thank you so much. Well,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: thank you, Steve, and thank you, thank thank you to
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: you and to your listeners, because you know, you can't
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: be great unless you got a great support system, and
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: we've had that from the beginning. So you know, I
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: want to thank everybody who set a prayer for us
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: and who worked for us, and everybody who voted in
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: these past midterm elections. Voting doesn't matter, let's not let
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: that slip by voting matters, So thank you for that, Steve.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: That's very kind of you. Can you share a little
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: bit about the role of your family and and and
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: how it played in how your life And yeah, I
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: mean I say the book is of the story of
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: an ordinary life, uh, lived in an extraordinary way. Um,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: because how I grew up, as you know, is how
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: millions of black folks grew up. You know, we grew
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: up in a community you know where we lived with
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: our family, and our family was everybody was and uncles
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: and grandparents and you know there was bid with and
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: jazz and barbecue and you know love, um. And uh,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: that's what fueled us in expectation. You know, even though
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: my parents didn't go to college, my grandparents didn't go
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: to college. They they held up a high bar for
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: us as as as as people. Um. And you know,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: we always sell an obligation to live up to that.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: I mean to see my father who was disabled from
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: the time I could remember him, you know, and seeing
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: him getting up and going to work every day without complaint.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I've talked out this throughout my my time and politics.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: You know, it's hard to be half baked when you
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: are raised in the house by a man like that,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: you know. Um. And every day, Steve, I live to
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: make my family, proud, in my community, proud. Um. It's
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: just important for us to tell our stories because I
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: think people think we don't exist, you know, They've got
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: what one image of what it means to be black.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: They don't know that we are so complex, and we
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: are so faithful, and that we are so uh linked
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: to our family, um, you know. And and that's why
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: I'm proud to tell my story, because I want people
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: to know all of who I am so that they're
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: not mistaken at all. And this book, you know, I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: try to make it a story so that it's not
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: just a chronology of things, but it's a story of
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: this little girl, Michelle Robinson, who grew up on the
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: South Side with a big brother, and she got into
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: the fights, and she had some some challenges, and she
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: went to public school and she got hit in the
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: mouth by a bully and you know, shot, you know,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: And and it's a it's a set of stories that
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: I hope take people along the journey because I get
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: that question all the time. It's like, how did a
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: girl from the South side of Chicago wind up the
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: first lady of the United States? And this is the
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: answer to that, at least is that I can see it.

- 1:23:08Speaker 1: Trump supporter. The incident occurred as George was leaving a
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: Hooters restaurant. A video taken inside the restaurant shows a
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: man goating Lopez by yelling Mega at him, uh, you know,
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: make America great again. Lopez wasn't amused and didn't appreciate
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: that the man was filming him on his phone, so
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: he swiped the phone out of his hand and grabbed
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: him by the neck. Who The man then repeatedly said,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: George wants to fight me. George wants to fight me.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Police investigated and decided to change to charge Lopez with
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: misdemeanor battery and uh, he'll have to appear in court
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: next month. That's at the same time. We have to

- 1:26:12Speaker 1: you're in a banking like you say excuse me, that's
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: just if they don't hear you. But if you said
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: excuse me and then put cursin behind it somehow they're
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: hearing clears up and well I can help you here
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: real with it's amazing. Yeah. Yeah, he's made everybody angry
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: and on edge. It's his phone and yeah, and we
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: love George and George it's a cool guy. It's real cool. Yeah,
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: he's a cool, real cool. So you know, the guy

- 1:26:47Speaker 1: this but in his face, recording and all of it
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: order for that very much, so, very much. So George

- 1:27:11Speaker 1: In the last few years, a list artists have taken
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: their touring game to a whole new level with innovative
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: stage design. Houston's own Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner's Baby
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: Daddy in case you didn't know, is the latest artist
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: to push the envelope even farther by constructing an amusement
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: park ride on stage on which he can perform in
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: between letting fans take joy rides. I love that he
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: posted a video that is right. He posted a video
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: of the ferris wheel type contraption that allows him to
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: go in a three hundred and sixty degree loop, hanging
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: completely upside down at the top. That's so scary. That's
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: so scary when it stops up there. It is. It's
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: just another way to make fans who bought tickets feel
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: like they're really taking a trip to Astro World. Wow.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: So Carla, Tommy and Junior, you guys grew up in Houston. Uh,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: how was going to astra World? What it was? The thing?
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Every summer I had a summer past yeah. Yeah, and
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: I had a cocine. Yeah, that's what you get five
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: hours off. You had a summer pass for what the
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: summer pass when you just go anytime you wanted to
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: go to the amusement amusement park. Oh well, you know
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: how much was your pad passed? About? What? Hunter sometimes
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: as everyone? How much was your fifty or sixty for
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: the summer? It was high being to us back then,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: that was high. And I tried to get a job there.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I could man never get hi. Boy, let me tell
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: you something. When new well he didn't get hig he
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: could right hand and right Yes, I'm trying to figure
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: out what he's past cost. So damn can't get past
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: that stick on half him? You have to. Yeah, after
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: World is gone, It's gone. It doesn't even exist any gone.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: There that's a parking lot. Well, thanks to this show,
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: I've replaced as World with Disney World. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: big man, I can't wait to get I've noticed right,
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: I'll be talking to make it like we've been free
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: for thirty years? What's up? Man? And when many strolls through,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm done. I love me so many. Yeah.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: So I seem today's fans expect more than two turntables
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: and a microphone on stage thanks to Travis Scott and others.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: Uh so with how how much tickets costs? Now, do
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: you expect to see a show that's thrilling on all
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: levels like back in the day? Oh yeah, yeah they don't.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: Y'all ain't putting it out. The only one I'm telling
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: you that, the one I've seen was J and B's concert. Yeah,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: but technology is so different now. But nobody else really
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: do what when if I did? Yes, they came out
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: in them tps or get out of here the mothership
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: laying that man landed boy and all of their own songs.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: Uncle Bo could do a great show. Jill Scott can
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: put on a great show. Frankie Bell Kim, Oh yeah, right, Wilson,
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: it is fun when you go see him. All right,
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: you wish I could do that? Do it again? All right?
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Coming up our last break of the day, and Steve
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: will leave us with some parting words with his losing
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: remarks right after this, after you're listening to all right, Steve,
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: here we are last break of the day on this Tuesday. UM,
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: leave us with some parting words and closing remarks. Yeah,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I kind of I kind of want to talk about
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: something that's um, that's on me right now. Oh. I
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: want to talk a little bit about expectations and I
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: want to talk about patients. But I want to throw
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: one more thing in there. I'm gonna put need in there.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: Need expectations and patients. Uh. It's something that I've been
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: praying about, you know, and I've been asking God for
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: it for quite some time and it hasn't gotten here.
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: And uh, he knows exactly what I need. So as
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I'm saying this to you, I want you all to
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: imagine yourself and plug in your need. So I'm talking
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: to God right and I'm asking God for something that
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: I need, and I know I need it because it
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: would it would make some things go so much better,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: so much smoother, so much easier. Just overall, it would
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: just help in so many areas. So I've been praying
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: about it and it hasn't gotten here yet. And so
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: my oldest sister texts me the other day and I
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: didn't get back to him, and so just last night
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: she texted me again and just said, hey, could you
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: answer my text? I hope things are well with you,
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Love Mona. And so I text her back and I
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: told everything is fine. I've just been working so much.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I said, sometimes I don't get to answer your text
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: when you send it to me right away because I'll
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: be on the set of something, I'll be doing something.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: I said, but I get him, an I appreciate them.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: And then I told my oldest sister I asked her
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: to please pray for me. I said, I prayed for
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: a breakthrough from me, something I've been asking God for,
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: so I can just you know, take, you know, relax
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: a little bit about this situation. And I went on
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: to tell my sister that's hard being successful and stuff
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: like that. And I said, but we're good. I'm just
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: working real hard. I told I love you, and then
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: I said, let me know if you need something. She
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: text me back the simplest thing. I remember. Now, I've
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: told you that I was asking God for something that
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I needed and I have been waiting for it, and
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: I and I and I, and I'm almost out of patience,
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: to be honest with you. I just thinking it's taken
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: a while, right, And I'm pretty sure you could feel
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: that way too. Sometimes ask Gold for something and you
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: you're living in the expectation and you get man, let's
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: taking so long, and you're getting a little impatient. I
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: think everything that's happened to every person. My sensters simply
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: sent this text backs to me. She said, just take
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: one day at a time. The Lord knows what he's doing.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I'm praying for you. That was her message. Now, my
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: sisters eighty two years old, she told her brother, who
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: is like, you know, the family guy that they can
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: all come to when they need something. But she simplified
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: it for me so easy. She said, just take one
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: a day at a time. The Lord knows what he's doing.
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: And do you know how much better. That made me
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: feel I simply back and said I texted back. I said, Okay,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: I will, because you know this thing that I've been
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: asking God for that I so desperately feel like I need,
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: and I keep expecting it to happen, but I'm starting
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: to lose patience about it. My sister says something so simple,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: if you just take one day at a time, the
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: Lord knows what he's doing, and if I look at it.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: In her simple way of talking to her brother, she
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: knows me very well. Her simple way of talking to
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: me was letting me know that if you just keep
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: waking up and keep doing what you're doing, God got
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: all this under control. He know what he's doing. And
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: you know what he always has. He's always known what
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: he's doing. Always. He ain't never not known what he
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: was doing. Even when I thought I wanted it to
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: go another way, and he worked it out a different way.
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: It was for the best, and so I just had
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: to grab myself off and go, Okay, I will. And
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: it made me feel better because I said, Okay, man,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I'm actually okay. I do actually keep waking up. I
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: do keep somehow surviving it all. I'm not just surviving.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: I'm actually thriving. I'm going through it, but I'm getting
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: through it. It's taking a while, but it's in the process.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: And God does know what he's doing. So that settled
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: it for me. So I'm saying to you, if that's
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: something you've been praying about, something that you need, and
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: you're living your life in the expectation because you know
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: he's gonna deliver it for you, but you haven't got
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: a little bit impatient with it like I have, just
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: taking a day at a time. God knows exactly what
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: he's doing. He's working on something on your behalf that
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: you don't even know about, and when you give it
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: to you, it's gonna fix it all, probably better than
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: you could have ever imagined. Those are my closing remarks.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Just something to think about. Yeah, wow, that puts things
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: in perspective. Yeah, I'm stopped playing in the day. M hmm. Yeah.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Well tell us Steve have a great weekend for all.
