- 0:35Speaker 1: a pioneering force in music technology. Who's Gotten Next Music

- 0:52Speaker 2: To new sounds.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Please work in the Money Making Conversations Masterclass. LaTavia Woodwood.
- 0:58Speaker 1: That's a lot I just said about you, friend.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yes, thank you for having me today.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So let's i'd say, collegic days.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Let's go back a little bit before we get into
- 1:08Speaker 1: the amplification of a new talent through technology.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Yes, I'm a graduate of East Carolina university. I always
- 1:17Speaker 3: knew I wanted to be in tech, so that's the
- 1:20Speaker 3: career path that I chose. I got my first degree
- 1:24Speaker 3: in business with a concentration in management information systems, and
- 1:28Speaker 3: I had a job waiting for me here in Atlanta.
- 1:31Speaker 3: So I graduated on Saturday. I drove down on Sunday
- 1:34Speaker 3: to my cousin's house, and I started working on Monday
- 1:36Speaker 3: and I've been here ever since.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That's awesome. So music, though, can you sing? Can you rap?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Can you play an instrument? Tell me background?
- 1:45Speaker 3: I think I could sing, but oh no, no.
- 1:47Speaker 2: No, no, don't do me a showers sing it? No
- 1:50Speaker 2: shower sing it. Let's go back to the roots. What
- 1:53Speaker 2: can we do over there? My friend?
- 1:55Speaker 3: Okay, Well, after been in my career for a number
- 1:59Speaker 3: of years in tech, after my second degree, been in
- 2:04Speaker 3: corporate for a long time, I happened to be asked
- 2:09Speaker 3: by my son, who is a professional music artist. Who
- 2:12Speaker 3: is that that is offset him? I think you may.
- 2:18Speaker 3: He asked me to help him out with some of
- 2:20Speaker 3: his business affairs, and I was like, I don't I
- 2:24Speaker 3: don't know anything about the music business, but I'll help
- 2:27Speaker 3: you figure it out. He was on he was on
- 2:29Speaker 3: the road consistently at that time, and oddly enough, I
- 2:33Speaker 3: had just been sort of kind of passed over for
- 2:36Speaker 3: a job that I wanted and my path changed completely.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I wanted this job so bad internally, I interviewed, they
- 2:46Speaker 3: offered me the job, and then the budget wasn't there,
- 2:51Speaker 3: so they had to take the job off the table,
- 2:54Speaker 3: and you know, I was like, you know, God, you
- 2:56Speaker 3: know you handed me this. This is I prayed for,
- 2:58Speaker 3: this is what I wanted, and it was given to
- 3:02Speaker 3: me and taken away. And it was two weeks after
- 3:05Speaker 3: that that my son called me and asked me could
- 3:07Speaker 3: I help out with his business affairs? Help out?
- 3:10Speaker 1: That was all said at that point in his career.
- 3:13Speaker 1: He offered you to help out.
- 3:15Speaker 3: So he was with his group the Migos, or their
- 3:19Speaker 3: group the Migos, and they were traveling the world, and
- 3:23Speaker 3: so he had no time to really handle getting the
- 3:27Speaker 3: structure of his business that he didn't know that he
- 3:29Speaker 3: needed to needed to have at that time available get
- 3:33Speaker 3: it set up, and I found out that that was
- 3:35Speaker 3: something that needed to be done. Fortunately, his his manager
- 3:38Speaker 3: at the time, Danny Zuk, was the person that kind
- 3:42Speaker 3: of helped me to understand some of the things that
- 3:44Speaker 3: he was missing. So we had to get all these
- 3:46Speaker 3: things set up for him. But I started to learn
- 3:48Speaker 3: more and more about the business. I asked a whole
- 3:50Speaker 3: bunch of questions, and I realized, there's a it's very complex.
- 3:54Speaker 3: The music business is not as easy as people might
- 3:57Speaker 3: think it is, you know, especially once you're signed to
- 3:59Speaker 3: a label, and what your commitments are, what your what
- 4:03Speaker 3: your rights are, what their rights are, all these different things,
- 4:06Speaker 3: and so it was a huge learning curve for me.
- 4:11Speaker 3: But fortunately as I, as I dove more and more
- 4:15Speaker 3: into that business, I realized that there were some gaps
- 4:21Speaker 3: for young people that are creatives that are not business savvy,
- 4:26Speaker 3: that they're they're actually giving up a lot without knowing
- 4:31Speaker 3: what they're giving up sometimes. And so I believe that,
- 4:37Speaker 3: you know, as I was doing all of this learning
- 4:39Speaker 3: and figuring out things for him, that God put it
- 4:41Speaker 3: upon my heart to say, what are you gonna do
- 4:44Speaker 3: with this?
- 4:44Speaker 2: Like?
- 4:44Speaker 3: What are you gonna do with all this this information
- 4:46Speaker 3: that you've learned, and how are you going to help somebody?
- 4:49Speaker 3: And so we came up with this concept of teaching
- 4:55Speaker 3: artists the music business, but doing so in a fun
- 4:58Speaker 3: way and in aging way, and something where they would
- 5:01Speaker 3: gain something, you know, throughout that whole process. So that's
- 5:06Speaker 3: where Who's Got Next Music came in to play. So
- 5:10Speaker 3: I tied my technology background with this new music learning
- 5:13Speaker 3: that I've gotten over the past ten years now.
- 5:17Speaker 2: And it is an app.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It is actually in the Apple Stores and the Google
- 5:22Speaker 3: Store and there's a web. Yes, yes, we have not
- 5:26Speaker 3: officially launched yet. We did a beta so that we
- 5:29Speaker 3: would know how to really run the app. But what
- 5:32Speaker 3: it is is it is genre based music competitions and
- 5:37Speaker 3: a community. And we are launching in June our very
- 5:41Speaker 3: first commercial. Yes, the best month. It's my birthday month
- 5:45Speaker 3: to June, tea, all of those great things happening in June,
- 5:49Speaker 3: and we will be launching with the hip hop genre
- 5:53Speaker 3: first and then we'll do it of course, and then
- 5:58Speaker 3: we'll it's actually the largest streaming genre in the world
- 6:02Speaker 3: in the world, so so that's why we chose to
- 6:06Speaker 3: to start there first. It is our largest pool. But
- 6:10Speaker 3: the great thing about hosting these genre based music competitions
- 6:15Speaker 3: on app is that it is accessible to everybody. So
- 6:20Speaker 3: we're gonna start off with North America and Canada in
- 6:22Speaker 3: terms of artists, but the fans are my.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Little show you just got worldwide here.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 2: See I love people like you the topa. You know
- 6:31Speaker 2: you have this great idea, right yeah, it seems so simple,
- 6:35Speaker 2: so smaller than you. And then all of a sudden
- 6:38Speaker 2: you just went global on me.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yes.
- 6:40Speaker 1: First of all, you slipped out the fact that you know,
- 6:43Speaker 1: hip hop is the most popular streaming music in the world,
- 6:47Speaker 1: and then you use the word not Georgia, not tension,
- 6:52Speaker 1: North America only.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Yes, and Canada. In Canada, we're we wanted, we wanted,
- 6:58Speaker 3: we want to do do. We want to make sure
- 7:02Speaker 3: that we are providing emerging talent. Folks who have already
- 7:05Speaker 3: started to build a fan base have access to our
- 7:09Speaker 3: app and have access to win and grow. So it's
- 7:13Speaker 3: three rounds of competition in app, right, well, actually two
- 7:17Speaker 3: rounds are in app and the third one is in person,
- 7:20Speaker 3: but all of the voting happens on app and it's
- 7:24Speaker 3: fan aggregated motor aggregate exactly. So we're talking about, you know,
- 7:29Speaker 3: if you were an artist and you bring your fan base.
- 7:32Speaker 3: If I were an artist, I bring my fan base,
- 7:34Speaker 3: and we're coming together on this on this platform, and
- 7:37Speaker 3: so our fans who are already emerging talent lovers will
- 7:42Speaker 3: actually discover new talent. But they're there to support me, right, Oh,
- 7:47Speaker 3: yours are there to support you. But either way, we're
- 7:50Speaker 3: we're helping artists to build their fan base, to grow
- 7:53Speaker 3: their fan base, right, So that's one of our main goals.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yes, let me bring everybody up to speed exactly what
- 7:59Speaker 1: you're talking Sure, I'm talking about lot Tavia Woodward.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yes, she's had some new app. They're launchest in June. Yes,
- 8:06Speaker 2: and it's going to be called Who's Got Next Music?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yes, okay, Who's Got Next Music is an artist applification
- 8:12Speaker 1: platform dedicated to discovery and promoting emerging music talent through
- 8:18Speaker 1: fair competition, right through fan competition of fan voting, community engagement,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and easy access to new sounds.
- 8:26Speaker 3: That's right.
- 8:27Speaker 1: They provide a web and mobile app that allows artists
- 8:30Speaker 1: to showcase their talent, connect with fans to participate in
- 8:33Speaker 1: the exclusive competition, making it easier for them to grow
- 8:37Speaker 1: their presence and reach a global audience.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Absolutely, so just think about you know, I'm from a
- 8:44Speaker 3: small town originally.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Did you think big though?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yes?
- 8:48Speaker 2: Because let me just say sure, I love big thinkers.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I love people who come from an environment where they
- 8:58Speaker 1: dream and they start connecting the and it starts impacting people.
- 9:02Speaker 2: You are a game changer.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You know you you you have a brilliant son is
- 9:07Speaker 1: in the music business. You engage in his lifestyle and
- 9:11Speaker 1: and and you saw things that were missing. Now you,
- 9:15Speaker 1: through your technical background, is allowing that to be a
- 9:18Speaker 1: global footprint.
- 9:20Speaker 2: For other people to follow.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Absolutely, what is the.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Big upside I'm talking about? I have you engaged with
- 9:24Speaker 1: sponsors yet?
- 9:25Speaker 3: All this so we are currently seeking sponsors. We're actually
- 9:29Speaker 3: currently seeking sponsors. I have built a board with an
- 9:33Speaker 3: angel investor here locally, and I have another board member
- 9:38Speaker 3: who's who's who works for Atlantic Records, So I actually
- 9:41Speaker 3: have some good people that are advising me along the way.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Nobody does this alone. And then I recently hired a
- 9:48Speaker 3: marketing McDonald. Yes, yes, but this is what I do now, Yes, yes,
- 9:58Speaker 3: it is. I also brought on Alluring Social to help
- 10:02Speaker 3: me with social media because I am I am a techie,
- 10:05Speaker 3: I am not a social media influencer or anything like that.
- 10:08Speaker 3: So I brought someone on to take on that responsibility
- 10:11Speaker 3: for me, and she'll be working with another person that
- 10:16Speaker 3: I brought on from TikTok that will handle all of
- 10:19Speaker 3: the marketing and branding for for for me, which is
- 10:23Speaker 3: a relief. Honestly, you got to know, I operate in
- 10:26Speaker 3: my strengths. I can do the technology road map all day.
- 10:29Speaker 3: They're the folks that's handling the marketing and the branding piece.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Okay, cool, let's talk about the right now. The app
- 10:35Speaker 1: is chilled, it's in beta state.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's their website.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yes, it is, Who's got Next Music dot com. You
- 10:41Speaker 3: can go there now. You can sign up for updates
- 10:44Speaker 3: as we're going along. Yes, as we're coming along.
- 10:48Speaker 2: How does that come along with a people registering now.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Or they are people aren't registering. We're actually about to
- 10:54Speaker 3: have our first event in February. We wanted to have,
- 10:57Speaker 3: you know something in real life.
- 11:00Speaker 2: She just talks. Okay, you know she should be all
- 11:02Speaker 2: the way to you in February.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Yes, okay, our through through my marketing and Brandon folks,
- 11:10Speaker 3: they said, we have to have some experiential experiences to
- 11:13Speaker 3: kind of let people know what we're doing.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So we're a February events.
- 11:16Speaker 3: So February, we are securing a venue, but we have
- 11:21Speaker 3: our panelist already. We're actually having an entertainment attorney joining us.
- 11:26Speaker 3: We have someone that's doing sync licensing, that's gonna speak
- 11:30Speaker 3: for us. And we have an emerging artist who just
- 11:32Speaker 3: came off tour that that will be on our panel.
- 11:36Speaker 3: That will be our panel. We actually have a showcase
- 11:39Speaker 3: that will happen right after the panel, and so we
- 11:42Speaker 3: have a rap artist that is participating. We have an
- 11:46Speaker 3: R and B artist, and we're gonna give them a
- 11:49Speaker 3: few minutes to to be able to entertain us. But
- 11:52Speaker 3: while we're there, I'll have the opportunity to be able
- 11:55Speaker 3: to talk to artists and fans alike about what this
- 11:59Speaker 3: is and produce users. Let's not leave them out because
- 12:01Speaker 3: they're they're super important to us too. We want them
- 12:05Speaker 3: to understand what it is that we do, why we're
- 12:07Speaker 3: doing it, and why they should be involved. Our contests
- 12:10Speaker 3: are not free, but they're also not for people who
- 12:13Speaker 3: have not built any type of audience yet. Either.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Take there's a fee.
- 12:17Speaker 3: There is a fee good for the contest, But before
- 12:21Speaker 3: you even pay the fee, we make sure that you
- 12:22Speaker 3: actually have an audience, that you have engagement, not just followers,
- 12:25Speaker 3: because you can buy followers, but you can't buy engagement.
- 12:29Speaker 3: The box, yes exactly so, so so fortunately for you,
- 12:34Speaker 3: we're not even gonna take your money unless you actually
- 12:36Speaker 3: have real engagement. So we check that in our app.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Once you go to sign up for a contest, and
- 12:42Speaker 3: if you do, you gain access to our database of
- 12:44Speaker 3: beats from producers that are non sampled beats. They are cleared,
- 12:49Speaker 3: so you don't have to worry about a clearance or
- 12:51Speaker 3: being sued or using this or anything like that.
- 12:53Speaker 2: That's huge. Yeah, that's really huge. So when they have access.
- 12:58Speaker 1: To the beats in your database, will they have to
- 13:02Speaker 1: pay a fee?
- 13:03Speaker 3: No? No, no. The fee that they paid for the
- 13:05Speaker 3: contest includes the beats that the beat that they'll use.
- 13:09Speaker 3: So let me be very very clear. You can listen
- 13:11Speaker 3: to as many beats as you want, but you only
- 13:13Speaker 3: get to download one because you're going to go and
- 13:15Speaker 3: create an original song and a video for our competition
- 13:19Speaker 3: within our submission period.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So that's what's the submission period window?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Two weeks.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Two weeks.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, this is sounding I you know, first
- 13:31Speaker 1: of all, I'm going to join the interview. I'm excited
- 13:33Speaker 1: because my mind is just racing from a creative and
- 13:35Speaker 1: then producing stamp on because I see the huge upside,
- 13:39Speaker 1: the opportunity. The key is getting the talent and being
- 13:44Speaker 1: able to work through the logistics.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Of the competitions right and making sure that they feel
- 13:51Speaker 4: it was worth the talent as well as the audience
- 13:54Speaker 4: who participating as the consumer, feels it's valid.
- 14:01Speaker 3: Step absolutely because well, first off, the fact that you're
- 14:05Speaker 3: entering the contest for one, a good beat is gonna
- 14:08Speaker 3: cost you more than that. Absolutely, so we've already so
- 14:11Speaker 3: you've already gained value by having the beat, access to
- 14:14Speaker 3: the beat database and getting one. Secondly, Who's Got Next
- 14:19Speaker 3: Music does not own any of the rights to the
- 14:21Speaker 3: music that you create, other than to be able to
- 14:23Speaker 3: promote it on our platform. But you can release that
- 14:25Speaker 3: music commercially and you keep all of your rights, and
- 14:29Speaker 3: you receive all of your royalties for it, your performance
- 14:32Speaker 3: royalties panimal. All of that belongs to you, and it
- 14:35Speaker 3: belongs to the producer whose beat you use. So one
- 14:38Speaker 3: of the things that we need to be clear about
- 14:40Speaker 3: is once you use their beat, that producer is tied
- 14:42Speaker 3: to whatever song it is that you create. You can't
- 14:45Speaker 3: submit a different song with a different beat. It has
- 14:47Speaker 3: to be that producer's beat. Because we want to bring
- 14:50Speaker 3: equity to the producer by making sure that they have
- 14:54Speaker 3: you're signing a producer agreement saying that they're going to
- 14:56Speaker 3: get fifteen percent of that of the royalties on that
- 14:59Speaker 3: song that you create if you commercially release it, which
- 15:03Speaker 3: we encourage them to do. Right. So, whether you win
- 15:06Speaker 3: our contest or not release your song, you need to
- 15:08Speaker 3: be putting out music because you want to build a
- 15:10Speaker 3: fan base, and so you got to feed the fan base,
- 15:12Speaker 3: especially as emerging talent and you're discovering and figuring out
- 15:15Speaker 3: your sound.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 15:20Speaker 5: money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
- 15:29Speaker 5: Conversations Masterclass, hosted by Rashan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 15:35Speaker 5: continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making
- 15:40Speaker 5: Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
- 15:44Speaker 3: So the value in this for the artists is number one,
- 15:48Speaker 3: they get access to a beat that's a high quality
- 15:51Speaker 3: beat that they can use for commercial release on you know,
- 15:54Speaker 3: whether they win or not. Secondly, the exposure that they
- 15:57Speaker 3: gain because as we're promoting them and they're promoting themselves
- 16:01Speaker 3: while they're going through this competition. Now they're getting exposure
- 16:04Speaker 3: to a fan base that they didn't have before. So
- 16:07Speaker 3: all of the artists, you know, bringing their fan bases
- 16:10Speaker 3: to this platform, you're being exposed to them. Plus all
- 16:13Speaker 3: of the paid advertising that we're going to be doing
- 16:15Speaker 3: to promote our contests. So now you're getting your promotion,
- 16:19Speaker 3: you're growing your fan base, you have a song that
- 16:22Speaker 3: you can commercially release. You've gotten more than one ninety
- 16:25Speaker 3: nine with a value just with that. If you win
- 16:28Speaker 3: the competition, you win five thousand dollars and so the
- 16:33Speaker 3: producer will win twenty five hundred dollars. And you also
- 16:37Speaker 3: get legal services for six months to a year after
- 16:40Speaker 3: winning our contest as well, because we're partnered with the
- 16:43Speaker 3: with the mckinlee lost and firm that will do that
- 16:45Speaker 3: for you. There are IP and entertainment law firm, so
- 16:51Speaker 3: we'll make sure that you own your trademark, own your name,
- 16:53Speaker 3: those types of things, and we will for the fans,
- 16:59Speaker 3: we have a leaderboard for them too, so as they're
- 17:01Speaker 3: participating and voting, we have a leaderboard of who's actually
- 17:04Speaker 3: participating the most. So the first the top three fans
- 17:07Speaker 3: for a contest also win. So there's upside for fans
- 17:12Speaker 3: to participate because they're making the decision. We're empowering them
- 17:15Speaker 3: to actually decide, well, what do you want to hear
- 17:17Speaker 3: on the radio? What do you want to hear on
- 17:18Speaker 3: these streaming platforms, instead of you know, stuff being forced
- 17:22Speaker 3: and pushed to them, they're willingly deciding what it is
- 17:25Speaker 3: that they want to hear, right, and there's therefore getting
- 17:28Speaker 3: behind these artists and supporting them with their vote. It's
- 17:31Speaker 3: real time voting in the app, so you actually see
- 17:33Speaker 3: if that person had one hundred votes and you give
- 17:35Speaker 3: them ten votes, now they have one hundred and ten.
- 17:37Speaker 3: It's immediate you see it. So it's very transparent. And
- 17:41Speaker 3: the good thing about it is with that first round
- 17:44Speaker 3: of competition, it's just the music, so it's a quality.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Sound is important. So if you fall out in that round,
- 17:51Speaker 3: that means you need to go work on your music
- 17:53Speaker 3: some We're going to give you some data to let
- 17:55Speaker 3: you know where you stand with your peers. Go work
- 17:57Speaker 3: on that. But you will have more fans than we
- 18:00Speaker 3: you started by just being in that in that first round.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Okay, cool, So February is an event, yes, okay, June
- 18:09Speaker 1: is the launching of the app. Yes, there's a website
- 18:13Speaker 1: right now that everybody can go to right now, Yes,
- 18:15Speaker 1: Who's gotten next music dot dot com to find out
- 18:19Speaker 1: more information about what you guys are doing. Yes, but
- 18:22Speaker 1: more important, they can register to be notified by upcoming events.
- 18:26Speaker 3: That's absolutely right.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You have not found a location for the February event yet.
- 18:31Speaker 3: No, my team is working on that. They're they're trying
- 18:34Speaker 3: to get it sponsored so that we actually have a
- 18:38Speaker 3: place that can hold about one hundred people to be
- 18:41Speaker 3: able to be there because we're specifically targeting artists and
- 18:44Speaker 3: their fans and producers and so, no, we do not
- 18:48Speaker 3: have a location as of yet, but they're they're they're
- 18:50Speaker 3: steadily working on that.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You mentioned hip hop, Yes, you mentioned R and B. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 2: okay with but my church folks like gospel. Now what's
- 18:59Speaker 2: going on with let.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Me tell you something. Our competitions are genre specific, so
- 19:04Speaker 3: there definitely is going to be a gospel contest. But
- 19:08Speaker 3: all artists are welcome to come to our event. It
- 19:11Speaker 3: is a clean event. They are definitely welcome to be there.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Come find out what it is that we are doing.
- 19:18Speaker 3: We're doing demonstrations while we're there so you actually see
- 19:21Speaker 3: how the app works and you'll be able to ask
- 19:23Speaker 3: questions and things like that, so please come on out.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Ok. Cool, Now I gotta talk about the ant Sefhist
- 19:30Speaker 2: Family Fund.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Yes, that's another great thing that you're doing in the community.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Tell us a little background about it.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And that's also about taking young people, yes, and engaging
- 19:42Speaker 1: them in stem.
- 19:43Speaker 3: That's absolutely right.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Talk to me.
- 19:45Speaker 3: So there are plenty of students who are very interested
- 19:50Speaker 3: in music and creative careers and a lot of times
- 19:54Speaker 3: our public schools are very much so doing a great
- 19:57Speaker 3: job of teaching them traditional education and so they don't
- 20:02Speaker 3: necessarily fit in those boxes, if you will, So we
- 20:05Speaker 3: know how important education is and tying music and technology together.
- 20:12Speaker 3: It's just one of the programs that we are that
- 20:16Speaker 3: we've launched so far. We actually have four that we
- 20:19Speaker 3: want to launch, but it's one that we have. It's
- 20:21Speaker 3: called three R nine M, but we've just recently rebranded
- 20:24Speaker 3: that the Sound Pathways. And then it's a twelve week
- 20:28Speaker 3: cohort for students to actually learn the music business, and
- 20:32Speaker 3: we're using technology to teach them, so they'll learn things
- 20:37Speaker 3: like how to do songwriting utilizing AI tools like lyric Studio,
- 20:44Speaker 3: and so with that they will not only gain skills
- 20:50Speaker 3: that will help them in the music business. It also
- 20:53Speaker 3: will help them in any industry that they decide to
- 20:56Speaker 3: go into. So it's very important for us to teach
- 20:58Speaker 3: them transferable skills. As you've talked to one of our
- 21:02Speaker 3: board members, Glennis Lee, doctor Glennis Lee. Recently, we started
- 21:08Speaker 3: this foundation to honor my mom, who has some challenges
- 21:12Speaker 3: with with education, but always wanted, always loved it, but
- 21:15Speaker 3: she didn't have the opportunity to finish traditionally. She ended
- 21:19Speaker 3: up going back to school and finishing her high school
- 21:23Speaker 3: diploma and then she went back and uh was working
- 21:26Speaker 3: on her on her second degree, on her first degree.
- 21:29Speaker 3: I'm sorry, and and got sick and unfortunately she succumbed
- 21:35Speaker 3: to her illness at the time. But one of the
- 21:37Speaker 3: things she always loved was was was was learning like
- 21:41Speaker 3: she was and she very much so wanted to have
- 21:43Speaker 3: a technology career and it was not some it was
- 21:46Speaker 3: not possible for her. So to honor her love for education,
- 21:52Speaker 3: and we partner with my son for this this foundation
- 21:56Speaker 3: to take the music piece. We said, Okay, we're going
- 22:00Speaker 3: to fill the gap with the creators in the school
- 22:02Speaker 3: system and provide them with transferable skills learning by teaching
- 22:07Speaker 3: them the music business using technology that's that's our first program.
- 22:11Speaker 3: We tried three we like I said, it was three
- 22:14Speaker 3: or nine m before we did that. Last year, we
- 22:18Speaker 3: learned some things from it and we decided that we
- 22:20Speaker 3: wanted to simplify it a bit so we can keep
- 22:23Speaker 3: rolling enrollment instead of you know, we just enrolled during
- 22:27Speaker 3: during the fall and then you'd have to wait till
- 22:29Speaker 3: the next year. So we we decided that we wanted
- 22:34Speaker 3: to keep rolling enrollment, and in order to do that,
- 22:36Speaker 3: we had to modify our program, so we did. I'm
- 22:39Speaker 3: truly excited. We're about to kick off with them. We're
- 22:41Speaker 3: about to have our team building this Sunday, and then
- 22:45Speaker 3: that kicks off the twelve weeks for us of them learning.
- 22:48Speaker 3: We'll have two field trips along the way. One of
- 22:50Speaker 3: them is going to be a production field trip where
- 22:55Speaker 3: we'll get to see behind the scenes how a show
- 22:57Speaker 3: gets put on. Who are all these people because there
- 23:00Speaker 3: are a ton of people that make uh, these shows
- 23:04Speaker 3: really happen well. The second thing is the second trip
- 23:08Speaker 3: would be of to a music studio of course, so
- 23:11Speaker 3: that they can they can see all of the equipment
- 23:14Speaker 3: that's there. Even though we're encouraging them to have if
- 23:18Speaker 3: they want to create music that they actually have a
- 23:20Speaker 3: home set up, and we'll teach them how to do that,
- 23:22Speaker 3: but we want to want them to see the real
- 23:24Speaker 3: deal the professional studio as well group the high school students.
- 23:28Speaker 1: High school students, now this is kept pretty much Atlanta based.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Right it is Metro Atlanta based, but it is, but
- 23:35Speaker 3: it's virtual. It is it is virtual uh sessions, So
- 23:40Speaker 3: there the kids will only meet for their field trips
- 23:45Speaker 3: and the team building that we're doing, but they're actually
- 23:49Speaker 3: working with us and learning virtually.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Not confuse audience.
- 23:53Speaker 1: We was talking about the who's godenext music dot com.
- 23:56Speaker 2: What is the website for the ant.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Foundation? So it is and a N N C E
- 24:04Speaker 3: P h U s f F for Familyfund dot org.
- 24:08Speaker 3: So it's a cphas f F dot org. And all
- 24:14Speaker 3: of our information about our programs are there. The application
- 24:17Speaker 3: is there if anyone's interested and applying. Again, this is
- 24:20Speaker 3: for high school students in the metro Atlanta area. There
- 24:23Speaker 3: is also our email and our phone numbers there if
- 24:26Speaker 3: anyone has any questions. You can learn about our sound
- 24:30Speaker 3: Pathways program. It's also on the website so you can
- 24:34Speaker 3: actually take a look and see if it's something that
- 24:36Speaker 3: you're interested in. Again, it's it's twelve weeks and there's
- 24:38Speaker 3: no cost. Yes, there's absolutely no Costmusic dot Com.
- 24:44Speaker 2: There's a.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Contest entry fee, entry fee, yep. Fans can can utilize
- 24:49Speaker 3: it for free. So there's there's no cost to fans
- 24:51Speaker 3: or anything like that. And if producers are interested in
- 24:55Speaker 3: contributing to the Producer database, they can reach out to
- 24:58Speaker 3: us via there's a form on our website as well
- 25:01Speaker 3: for them to reach out as well. So yeah, but
- 25:04Speaker 3: for the high school students, it's completely free. We take
- 25:06Speaker 3: care of all the expenses for their field trips and
- 25:08Speaker 3: all that kind of thing. We just need students who
- 25:11Speaker 3: are really truly interested in music and we're going to
- 25:14Speaker 3: teach them the technology skills to be able to to
- 25:18Speaker 3: to learn that business.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Just got to bring this up.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I met you, Yes, you being honored at the stem
- 25:25Speaker 1: A lot of women I found the Steminus ball.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Yes, why they were honoring you.
- 25:32Speaker 3: So I got I received the Emerging Technology Award because
- 25:38Speaker 3: I actually have I'm a I'm a tech founder, and
- 25:41Speaker 3: I'm a woman. I'm a black woman, and that is
- 25:44Speaker 3: not particularly common and and and given that we uh,
- 25:51Speaker 3: you and I both were honored that night, so so, look,
- 26:00Speaker 3: I was just grateful to be in great company. Honestly,
- 26:04Speaker 3: it was a surprise to me that that that I
- 26:07Speaker 3: was being honored by the foundation. But I'm grateful for
- 26:09Speaker 3: it because I really want young young women, young girls
- 26:14Speaker 3: and young women to see a woman in stem that
- 26:18Speaker 3: is building their own products, their own applications, innovating to
- 26:22Speaker 3: actually make a difference, to make an impact in someone
- 26:25Speaker 3: else's life, because we can be the change we want
- 26:27Speaker 3: to see.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Well, my friend, I'm glad I saw you get honored.
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm glad I was there being honored too. But more importantly,
- 26:38Speaker 1: what is really driving you?
- 26:39Speaker 2: You know, this is a lot of work.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Uh, it's sometimes there's a lot of behind the scenes
- 26:44Speaker 1: activity is going on. What's the we we talked about
- 26:48Speaker 1: the nas Family Fund Foundation, We talked about Who's Got
- 26:52Speaker 1: Who's Got Next?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Music dot Com. Those are two very powerful.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Amplifications of life for our ties, for young people.
- 27:01Speaker 2: What's the otom to go for you?
- 27:05Speaker 3: I am building a legacy company for my family. I
- 27:09Speaker 3: really am for my grandchildren that they will be able
- 27:13Speaker 3: to continue to make an impact on other people's lives.
- 27:16Speaker 3: It is important to me that we utilize the gifts
- 27:20Speaker 3: that God has given us to do good things. There
- 27:23Speaker 3: we have purpose in our life. There was a reason
- 27:25Speaker 3: why I was passed over for that that other job. Right,
- 27:29Speaker 3: I believe that everything was divine because had I been
- 27:32Speaker 3: in that role, I would not have been able to
- 27:34Speaker 3: be as helpful to my son because I wouldn't have
- 27:36Speaker 3: not have had the time. And so I truly believe
- 27:41Speaker 3: that on this path that God has me on, that
- 27:46Speaker 3: I have a responsibility. And then I'm gonna teach my
- 27:49Speaker 3: grandchildren to have this same one, to be able to
- 27:52Speaker 3: take what we have and be able to pour into
- 27:54Speaker 3: other people to make an impact in their lives. There's
- 27:56Speaker 3: a there's a problem that needs to be solved here.
- 27:59Speaker 3: We have cre creatives who are very talented people, but
- 28:03Speaker 3: they do not necessarily have the business skills and background
- 28:06Speaker 3: to be successful on their own. So I want to
- 28:09Speaker 3: teach them those things in that community that we have
- 28:11Speaker 3: in the app, and also be able to help them
- 28:14Speaker 3: grow as musicians and also have the fan base support
- 28:18Speaker 3: that they need to be successful whether they're signed or not.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Then we get the registrate. She can't say, she can't say,
- 28:24Speaker 2: she can't say. The boy. She's a visionary and she's
- 28:27Speaker 2: a founder. She's changing lives at Lettabia. I want to
- 28:30Speaker 2: thank you again. Who's gotenext Music dot com is for everybody.
- 28:35Speaker 1: It's a global app. First events in February. Yes, the
- 28:39Speaker 1: app lodgers in June. Yes, you're going to come back
- 28:42Speaker 1: on my show in February when you locked down that place.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Absolutely, so we can promoted. Lord knows it's going to
- 28:47Speaker 2: be back. But we want to get the word out.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Yes, and employ people to go to the website and
- 28:53Speaker 1: register so they can get the information out.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I'm excited for you. I'm really excited.
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm always excited when people see something I can see
- 29:00Speaker 1: and when I see him talk, this is really good.
- 29:04Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 29:04Speaker 2: And when I hear you.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Talk, I see a very organized person who wants to
- 29:10Speaker 1: help people win.
- 29:12Speaker 2: And that that's that's you can't buy that. You cannot
- 29:16Speaker 2: buy that. Thank you for coming on Money Making Conversations.
