- 1:41Speaker 1: If you have a gift, lead with that gift and
- 1:43Speaker 1: don't let your age, friends, family or cowork and stop
- 1:46Speaker 1: you from planning or living your dreams. I interviewed celebrities, CEOs, entrepreneurs,
- 1:50Speaker 1: and people I like to call industry decision makers. My

- 1:58Speaker 1: you've heard that name before. She's successful, talent manager, executive producer,
- 2:03Speaker 1: published author, and the CEO and founder of Mona Me.
- 2:06Speaker 1: It's Monam Entertainment and Mona Me Productions. Mona Scott youngs
- 2:10Speaker 1: in the world winning multi media Mavericks Scott Youngest, the
- 2:14Speaker 1: longtime manager of Grammy Award winner Missy Elliott and executive
- 2:17Speaker 1: producer of Diverse Slate. I'm seeing it all, y'all. Y'all
- 2:20Speaker 1: hanging in with me now, an unscripted project represent a
- 2:23Speaker 1: wide array of stories and experiences of appeal to a
- 2:26Speaker 1: global audience, including her Juggernaut franchise. Loving hip hop, She's
- 2:31Speaker 1: on the show to talk about her new series, y'all,
- 2:33Speaker 1: I just watched it, Everybody Loves Naughty, a sixth episode
- 2:36Speaker 1: Doctu sries that follows Dominican reggaeton superstar not In Natasha.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Not Natasha has a mass billions of views on YouTube,
- 2:44Speaker 1: over seventy five million voters, social media followers and guess what.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The new Amazon series is on Amazon and it marks
- 2:51Speaker 1: the first time she shares the intimate details of her
- 2:54Speaker 1: personal life, including her relationship with her manager who I
- 2:57Speaker 1: love the death Raphy Please wripe with the money man.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I've been knowing it for a long time. This first
- 3:01Speaker 1: time I get to talk to him in person. Mona Scott, y'all,
- 3:04Speaker 1: welcome to my show. Mona, Hello, Hello, are you? First
- 3:08Speaker 1: of all you spectacular? I'm just let you know that
- 3:11Speaker 1: I've been a fan, and you know, I've been rousing
- 3:13Speaker 1: with people moaning, but you special girl. How where does
- 3:16Speaker 1: it come you for saying that? Thank you so much? Well,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know, we we we we we we missed it
- 3:21Speaker 1: several times on press junk my time wouldn't let me go.
- 3:25Speaker 1: When I was managing Steve Harvey, I believe you've been.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I have set up some interviews when he was when
- 3:29Speaker 1: I was alway that managed him on the Steve Harvey
- 3:32Speaker 1: Morning Show. But all along the process of developing your brand,
- 3:36Speaker 1: Uh what what? What has pushed you? What has driven
- 3:39Speaker 1: you to the success? You know, it's so funny. It's
- 3:43Speaker 1: so much of what you said at that at the
- 3:45Speaker 1: top of the show. The things that you say setting
- 3:47Speaker 1: up the show resonated for me because one of the
- 3:50Speaker 1: biggest things that drives me is stepping into my gift.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I talked about it all the time, right, It's almost
- 3:55Speaker 1: like you have a responsibility when you've been given certain
- 3:59Speaker 1: skills to live up to that potential. A lot of
- 4:02Speaker 1: us don't, a lot of us coast, a lot of
- 4:04Speaker 1: us just take it for granted. But I do feel
- 4:07Speaker 1: a responsibility, whether it's because of you know, watching my
- 4:10Speaker 1: mom who didn't have much accomplished what she was able
- 4:12Speaker 1: to accomplish, knowing that I have so much more that
- 4:16Speaker 1: has been given to me that I've been blessed with.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It's a sense of I need to operate and deliver
- 4:24Speaker 1: at my fullest potential at all times. So I never
- 4:27Speaker 1: know what that's gonna mean, how that's gonna translate, what
- 4:30Speaker 1: that's going to result in. But I know that whatever
- 4:34Speaker 1: it is, I better show up and show out well
- 4:36Speaker 1: you do. And that's that's the beauty of of you know.
- 4:40Speaker 1: And like I said, I've had an interesting career a
- 4:42Speaker 1: sitcom writer, you know, a producer, executive one. Unfortunately with me,
- 4:47Speaker 1: some Emmys and Image Awards, all these things. You know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I know it important to me, and sometimes I trivialize
- 4:53Speaker 1: them because you know, you're on the ground all the time,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you know what I'm talking about, and you just want
- 4:57Speaker 1: to get that next, especially when you're an Africa in
- 5:00Speaker 1: American you know, you know that there's no guarantees, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: because the relationship, you gotta keep it and keep it moving.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But you know what I've been thinking about a lot,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Richard lately, just the need to sit still for a
- 5:09Speaker 1: minute and to appreciate who you are right now in
- 5:12Speaker 1: the moment. And it's not about I mean complacent. It's
- 5:15Speaker 1: about taking stock and showing yourself appreciation right for what
- 5:20Speaker 1: you've a published and then using that to propel you
- 5:23Speaker 1: to the next stage, because a lot of times, like
- 5:25Speaker 1: you said, we'll go, go, go, go, go, that we
- 5:27Speaker 1: don't stop to really recognize where we've come from, where
- 5:31Speaker 1: we are in the moment, and how we can take
- 5:34Speaker 1: all of that experience, knowledge, know how you know, and
- 5:38Speaker 1: and use it as we move forward. You know, I
- 5:41Speaker 1: just I love hearing that from yourmona because of the
- 5:44Speaker 1: fact that you know, I bought a building in Atlanta,
- 5:46Speaker 1: and so if we're the first time, you know, I've
- 5:48Speaker 1: been on I've been on you know, leaching in various spaces.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I've been on production lots and all that Hollywood, have
- 5:55Speaker 1: been New York, so it's always you know, at the
- 5:57Speaker 1: end of that production deal, I had to pick up
- 5:59Speaker 1: my my trophies or my paintings and take them off
- 6:02Speaker 1: the wall. And so this was the first time I
- 6:04Speaker 1: olaus ta to put stuff I knew wasn't gonna leave.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And I really that's what that's what you're talking about,
- 6:09Speaker 1: you know, stopping and seeing and I and I and
- 6:12Speaker 1: I and my wife said, you love going off I
- 6:15Speaker 1: look because I really get to see my life being
- 6:17Speaker 1: played out and the show and your life plays out
- 6:21Speaker 1: on a daily basis on TV. Your rewards. And that's
- 6:25Speaker 1: really interesting because I know that when I have people
- 6:28Speaker 1: tell me about Rashan because I've I wrote your Sister
- 6:31Speaker 1: Sister the Bonnigue to Jamie Fox and all this, and
- 6:35Speaker 1: people go, I see those shows on Netflix all the time.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That makes me feel good. How do you feel when
- 6:40Speaker 1: people talk about your work to you or you just
- 6:43Speaker 1: hear people, or the reactions on you, the ratings and
- 6:47Speaker 1: the social media reaction. How does that make you feel? Mona.
- 6:51Speaker 1: You know, it's funny because it goes back to that
- 6:54Speaker 1: stopping to take stock and to show self appreciation. But
- 6:58Speaker 1: I'd like to think that my comp lishumans are reflected
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the work that I do. Right like yesterday, the
- 7:03Speaker 1: amazing honor of standing on that stage, you know, on
- 7:06Speaker 1: Hollywood Boulevard and and being part of Missy's induction ceremony
- 7:11Speaker 1: as she was given her star on the Hollywood Walk
- 7:13Speaker 1: of Fame, And in that moment, it just all came
- 7:17Speaker 1: flooding back that very first time I poked my head
- 7:20Speaker 1: into the backseat of that limo when I face met
- 7:23Speaker 1: her when he's something plus years ago, and she said, oh,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I don't I don't need a manager. I'm not looking
- 7:29Speaker 1: for a manager and to fast forward and think that,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you know, I've had the ability to impact her life
- 7:35Speaker 1: in a way that has maybe in some portion, way,
- 7:38Speaker 1: shape or form right impacted what she has delivered to
- 7:41Speaker 1: the world and the people that that has touched. And
- 7:44Speaker 1: it's the whole idea that my contribution to her life
- 7:48Speaker 1: has impacted, you know, millions of people globally that I
- 7:52Speaker 1: will never lay eyes on, never even see. That For
- 7:55Speaker 1: me is the gratification, that is the accomplishment that that
- 8:00Speaker 1: I think about when I think about what my life
- 8:03Speaker 1: has been. Of course, my children and seeing you know,
- 8:06Speaker 1: what they are accomplishing now in their lives and what
- 8:09Speaker 1: they're gonna be god knows what. But I'd like to
- 8:11Speaker 1: think that when I see my daughter putting her foot
- 8:13Speaker 1: down or you know, pushing back on something, or when
- 8:16Speaker 1: I see my son going hard and making sure that
- 8:19Speaker 1: he's you know, delivering on his own expectations for himself,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I see a reflection of me and what I've contributed
- 8:27Speaker 1: to their lives. So for me, that's the biggest, right,
- 8:30Speaker 1: the biggest uh accolade, I guess, if I had to
- 8:33Speaker 1: find the right word, it's seeing how the impact that
- 8:35Speaker 1: I've had on others and on their lives. Um has come,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you know, full circle when it's out there now for
- 8:41Speaker 1: the world's experience. We know the beauty of why I
- 8:44Speaker 1: mentioned the thing. You know, we started with the word
- 8:46Speaker 1: talent manager, and so she knows this for a fact.
- 8:49Speaker 1: A lot of times she was missing you know, Steve Harvey, Uh,
- 8:52Speaker 1: steven A. Smith and other people I have been fortunate
- 8:55Speaker 1: to say, they put, you know, trust in my direction
- 8:59Speaker 1: and so but some times you can be limited by
- 9:02Speaker 1: what people think of you as to manage you or
- 9:04Speaker 1: that's her, that's her girl, or that's her boy, you know,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and they don't realize that you can do more. That's
- 9:10Speaker 1: why it's important for me to say the words executive
- 9:12Speaker 1: producer when I say Mona Scott y'all. That's why it's
- 9:14Speaker 1: important for me. You said published Arthur when I say
- 9:16Speaker 1: Mona Scott y'all. That's why it's important for me to
- 9:18Speaker 1: say CEO and found up moaning me Entertainment and Mona
- 9:21Speaker 1: Me Productions. That's why it's important for me to say,
- 9:23Speaker 1: you know, love and hip hop because she's more than
- 9:27Speaker 1: what you expect and what she's been and she's fought
- 9:30Speaker 1: through what I've talked about she's leading with her gifts
- 9:33Speaker 1: and showing you she's more than what you think. And
- 9:36Speaker 1: in some ways she's seen in some of her all expectations.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And that's the beauty of being you correct and listen
- 9:44Speaker 1: the ability now to hopefully right have the impact that
- 9:48Speaker 1: I've had talking about listen with a completely different audience
- 9:55Speaker 1: right this show, it's in Spanguish, It's around a Latin
- 9:58Speaker 1: superstar who has millions and millions of fans and followers
- 10:03Speaker 1: and people who adore her globally. So here was an
- 10:07Speaker 1: opportunity for me to tell her story and to do
- 10:10Speaker 1: it on a massive platform like Amazon Prime. Those are
- 10:13Speaker 1: major accomplishments and strides for not only my company, but
- 10:17Speaker 1: for me as a producer as well. So it's constantly
- 10:21Speaker 1: about growth and this show is, you know, one more
- 10:24Speaker 1: growth experience in my career. And I think people are
- 10:28Speaker 1: going to see a completely different kind of programming that um,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think they will respond well to. There's something joyful
- 10:35Speaker 1: about the show their lives, everything that they're sharing about
- 10:38Speaker 1: their lives, and it's a story of women empowerment and
- 10:41Speaker 1: the stories of a struggle of an artist making it
- 10:44Speaker 1: against all odds and that's something I personally can relate to.
- 10:47Speaker 1: We'll be right back with more money making conversation were
- 10:50Speaker 1: the ward winning Multimedia Maverick Talent Manager Executive Producer Arthur
- 10:54Speaker 1: Mona Scott. Y'all, It's finally here, the season of celebration,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,

- 11:30Speaker 1: and under Armour. And in the spirit of giving, Coals
- 11:34Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide

- 12:01Speaker 1: face of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky.

- 12:08Speaker 1: that could lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.

- 12:51Speaker 1: and the ad Council. This is Roshan McDonald. Welcome back
- 12:54Speaker 1: to money making conversation. As I can tinue my conversations
- 12:58Speaker 1: would award winning multimedia your Maverick talent manager, executive producer
- 13:02Speaker 1: and author Mona's Got Young. Okay, First, because Air, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: told you I love the show. Now I gotta go
- 13:08Speaker 1: on air and tell you I love the show. I've
- 13:09Speaker 1: been fortunate. Uh, I've seen the series, okay. And I'm
- 13:13Speaker 1: from Houston, Texas. Okay. So I'm from text Max and
- 13:16Speaker 1: from Selina Country okay. And and that's a company when
- 13:20Speaker 1: I say this, because I've not seen the artists that
- 13:23Speaker 1: i've I've loved as much as I loved what she's
- 13:26Speaker 1: trying to do as a woman empowered herself making decisions.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And also the show is like in Spanglish in other words,
- 13:34Speaker 1: you know, they'll be talking Spanish and all of a
- 13:36Speaker 1: sudden you see subtitles come up there and you're very comfortable.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'm very comfortable. I'm like, I'm I was sliding between
- 13:46Speaker 1: spanglers in the in the in the subtitles, and we're
- 13:49Speaker 1: flawing with your show. That's what I'm saying. No, I'm
- 13:51Speaker 1: going like, come on, I'm some girl, me and you
- 13:53Speaker 1: ain't never met. But I was proud of you, said,
- 13:55Speaker 1: this is smooth right there because of the fact that
- 13:59Speaker 1: I you you, this is what this why is important
- 14:01Speaker 1: to where I get excited when I see new program
- 14:03Speaker 1: and it's death beyond the norm. And also it's not stereotypical.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Here's a young lady. Her name is Noddy Natasha. She's
- 14:10Speaker 1: from the Dominican Republic. She came over here first hitting
- 14:13Speaker 1: twenty twelve. Okay, went nowhere, struggling, no place to stay.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Then rapid came into life in somebody. And that's why
- 14:23Speaker 1: in this world, you always gotta have somebody who believes
- 14:25Speaker 1: in you, even as you don't. Like she said, she
- 14:27Speaker 1: saw she saw you know, like I said, I saw
- 14:30Speaker 1: Steve Harvey before he did death Comedy Jam. Okay, you
- 14:33Speaker 1: know she saw Mitchi. MITCHI said, I don't need you,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but she saw she saw said hanging out with me.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I see a little bit more. Now in this you
- 14:42Speaker 1: get the major global superstar and she's trusting you because
- 14:47Speaker 1: she wants to cross over. Tell us about that story, Mom, Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 1: it was interesting because they were so clear about, you know,
- 14:56Speaker 1: what they represent in the Latin market and wanting the
- 14:59Speaker 1: world to understand fan that she has dreams, and she
- 15:01Speaker 1: wants to grow and she wants to be bigger. But
- 15:03Speaker 1: it wasn't about leaving her audience behind and all of
- 15:06Speaker 1: a sudden wanting to be this you know u s artist.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It was more about how do I continue to grow
- 15:12Speaker 1: and bring my music to a bigger audience, bring my
- 15:16Speaker 1: you know, Latin culture to a bigger audience. Make sure
- 15:20Speaker 1: that everyone in all parts of the world understand the
- 15:23Speaker 1: beauty of who I am, what my story is. You know,
- 15:26Speaker 1: she's very proud about being you know, a first uh
- 15:29Speaker 1: generation immigrant and everything that she had to go through
- 15:32Speaker 1: to get to where she was. And it was about
- 15:34Speaker 1: bringing that story, that Latin immigrant story to a broader
- 15:38Speaker 1: audience and to bring into the world. And you know,
- 15:41Speaker 1: for me again always excited about breaking new barriers and
- 15:46Speaker 1: and thank you so much for acknowledging that, you know,
- 15:49Speaker 1: this was an opportunity for me, who has you know,
- 15:52Speaker 1: been doing content firmly in you know, the African American space,
- 15:57Speaker 1: been in hip hop for a very long time, to
- 16:00Speaker 1: move into Latin music, to move into a global Latin audience,
- 16:04Speaker 1: to tell the story of a Latin you know, superstar
- 16:07Speaker 1: on the rise. But what I love about that is
- 16:10Speaker 1: full of the elements of that story. The struggle, the love,
- 16:14Speaker 1: the triumphs, the adversities. Those are universal themes that language,
- 16:20Speaker 1: you know, there are no barriers to that. And I
- 16:23Speaker 1: hope that when people watch it, what they take away
- 16:26Speaker 1: from it is the story of the experiences, that the
- 16:29Speaker 1: joy of watching someone who is so open and vulnerable
- 16:34Speaker 1: just succeed at what they've set out to do. Well,
- 16:36Speaker 1: you know the thing that this is the thing that
- 16:38Speaker 1: I enjoy, you know, because we all know there's been
- 16:40Speaker 1: a journey with what reality shows and rareity shows me
- 16:44Speaker 1: about content driven. This is a content driven reality show,
- 16:48Speaker 1: which means that she's taken the elements of their life
- 16:50Speaker 1: and sharing it, but moving into a creative format where
- 16:54Speaker 1: is entertaining, so she's not creating contrived moments. That's important
- 16:58Speaker 1: to know about this, which was secondly portant to know
- 17:00Speaker 1: about this, is that Naughty and Ralphie don't want to
- 17:03Speaker 1: lose their Spanish base. They said, look, we want to
- 17:06Speaker 1: cross over, but we cannot cross over. And the reason
- 17:10Speaker 1: I said that's important because that's where the spanklish spanglish
- 17:13Speaker 1: comes in. Because if they did the show entirely English,
- 17:17Speaker 1: that means they would have sold long to their base.
- 17:19Speaker 1: And so they're talking English and being there, they're just
- 17:22Speaker 1: started right there talk start talking Spanish right in the
- 17:24Speaker 1: middle of English, and and you know, of a sudden
- 17:27Speaker 1: the subtitles a drop right Underneathan, and then all of
- 17:29Speaker 1: a sudden there was started. Imagine my life being in
- 17:32Speaker 1: the midst of that producing that for money, I would
- 17:39Speaker 1: be like, yeah, Spanish, English, and that's right, you know,
- 17:46Speaker 1: so I had a chance to prospect to perfect my
- 17:49Speaker 1: Spanish as well. So that was about my God and
- 17:51Speaker 1: I protherish perspect you for it. But I'm just saying
- 17:53Speaker 1: to everybody, is that is that this is an adventure,
- 17:57Speaker 1: and lifestyle is an adventure, and enjoy another culture. It's
- 18:02Speaker 1: also an adventure to let you know how other cultures
- 18:04Speaker 1: are simulate into America, how they still communicate, how they
- 18:09Speaker 1: can slide between the two cultures from an English and
- 18:12Speaker 1: a Spanish perspective, and it all feels very natural. Because
- 18:15Speaker 1: when I say that, is that, you know they what what? What? What?
- 18:18Speaker 1: Always gets to me with Mona shows, you know, she
- 18:20Speaker 1: would get people in bed, they even they'd be talking
- 18:22Speaker 1: like that at at the dinner table. I've yet to
- 18:24Speaker 1: figure out how she's crafted that skilled I'm talking about,
- 18:27Speaker 1: don't bad talking. They just talking like little dog running
- 18:31Speaker 1: around in bed and all that stuff. They'd be just
- 18:33Speaker 1: talking normal. I'm trying to figure out, Mota, how did
- 18:36Speaker 1: you figure out that skilled? Where did you get that
- 18:38Speaker 1: skilled to get people be talking like they at the
- 18:41Speaker 1: dinner table. I credit my years of being a manager
- 18:46Speaker 1: of my ability to get talented comfortable when you met
- 18:52Speaker 1: the camera's falls away, But I will say that was
- 18:56Speaker 1: one of the first sheet scenes we ever shot with them.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So to their credit, they were just like I said,
- 19:02Speaker 1: all I need you guys to do is be yourself.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Whatever you do, allow us to be here with just
- 19:07Speaker 1: fly on the wall and they you know, we're comfortable immediately.
- 19:12Speaker 1: But I think it's just about people trusting and they
- 19:14Speaker 1: know that you know we're here to tell your story.
- 19:19Speaker 1: You want. Nobody's going out the consent. You know you
- 19:24Speaker 1: need to stop right now, and no nobody. I'm gonna
- 19:27Speaker 1: use the word do what she do? Okay, I've seen
- 19:30Speaker 1: reality short all she gets everybody it's like because they're
- 19:33Speaker 1: not acting okay, they in bad and I'm not just
- 19:36Speaker 1: damn her to show what she do. They'd be in
- 19:37Speaker 1: bid just talking normal like eating chicken whatever, you know,
- 19:41Speaker 1: watching Click, It's like you get it. That's a skill,
- 19:44Speaker 1: and that's a skill that I was comfortable. We call
- 19:47Speaker 1: those Sean, I call those scenes my pillow dog. You
- 19:52Speaker 1: have your most intimate discussions. Think about it. You just
- 19:55Speaker 1: significant other, let your guard down for the day, in
- 19:59Speaker 1: your pajamas and you guys are just talking about the
- 20:02Speaker 1: day life the future. So that's for me, that's always
- 20:05Speaker 1: a great setting because that's what people have their life conversations. Well,
- 20:10Speaker 1: you know, because we're not the beauty of our conversation.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I'm happy with her. Is that I'm telling you this series,
- 20:15Speaker 1: but I'm not really giving away little details that I
- 20:18Speaker 1: need to not say because I want you to watch
- 20:20Speaker 1: the series. But again this series, I would be honest
- 20:24Speaker 1: with you. I didn't know Noddy before this series. I
- 20:28Speaker 1: want to know more about her. I love her music. Uh.
- 20:32Speaker 1: The man she's in love with, Ralphie, is a guy
- 20:36Speaker 1: that I would sit out and hang out where. He's
- 20:38Speaker 1: an ordinary looking guy. He met her when he was chubby,
- 20:41Speaker 1: Like he said, now now he's killing it. He's killing
- 20:44Speaker 1: it now, you know in the in the upcoming episodes,
- 20:47Speaker 1: you know It's about being treated like an immigrant, like
- 20:50Speaker 1: she said, working without a green card and trying to survive.
- 20:53Speaker 1: And that's what this is, like you said it earlier,
- 20:56Speaker 1: is about an empowerment series. It's about watching two a
- 21:00Speaker 1: couple share their relationship with the world and also seeing
- 21:04Speaker 1: how the world reacts to it. Being nervous about sharing it,
- 21:07Speaker 1: but it's an honest story. I want to thank you
- 21:09Speaker 1: for doing this, and I want to thank you and
- 21:11Speaker 1: then let you know I'm a champion of your brand
- 21:14Speaker 1: and I am honoring my friend. I am honored my
- 21:17Speaker 1: friend to know that you are are who you are
