- 2:07Speaker 1: You know I'm from Texas so I can talk like that.
- 2:09Speaker 1: She right above me, right above me. She moved to
- 2:12Speaker 1: Atlanta for college and attended an hbc Uth School Clark
- 2:16Speaker 1: Atlantic University, where she majored in theater, and then moved
- 2:19Speaker 1: to Los Angeles and has been booking television shows, films,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and commercials every since. She is now starting in the
- 2:25Speaker 1: news Tyler Perry series and it is entitled Tyler Perry's
- 2:29Speaker 1: Ruthless Please Walk up to Money Making Conversation. Melissa L. Williams,
- 2:35Speaker 1: Thank you. Wow. That was a great first of all,
- 2:40Speaker 1: you deserve it, you know, and you're you're out here,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know. I always tell people a lot of people
- 2:45Speaker 1: are stopped based on fear, stop based on people's expectations,
- 2:50Speaker 1: on projections of what they should be doing in their lives,
- 2:53Speaker 1: in their life. And here you are in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I've been there several times. Uh. Eat some great appecue
- 3:00Speaker 1: in Oklahoma City. By the way, I've been there some
- 3:02Speaker 1: good papers. Yea. So how do you get to Atlanta
- 3:07Speaker 1: to Los Angeles from Oklahoma City? Ha ha? How think
- 3:11Speaker 1: your dreams be so big in Oklahoma City? Oh well,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I'll tell you that's how you know it's your gift
- 3:20Speaker 1: when when nobody or nothing, you know, circumstances can stop
- 3:26Speaker 1: you from attaining it. I feel like my purpose I
- 3:31Speaker 1: found it at a young age. My purpose on this
- 3:35Speaker 1: earth was this to tell a story, um, whether it
- 3:39Speaker 1: beauty characters or my own. And that's why I think
- 3:42Speaker 1: that God has given me such a powerful testimony because
- 3:48Speaker 1: it is definitely one that I feel can transform other
- 3:52Speaker 1: young black women actors or even just people who live
- 3:59Speaker 1: in small town you know. I feel like my story
- 4:02Speaker 1: would transform that thinking at least enough to um make
- 4:07Speaker 1: them believe that they can do it, just because of
- 4:09Speaker 1: you know, where I'm from and where I grew up
- 4:12Speaker 1: as well, right, And I think I appreciate you saying
- 4:15Speaker 1: that because you know, people look at the big city
- 4:18Speaker 1: New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, now Los Angeles, that's where
- 4:22Speaker 1: you go to achieve. You you either from those type
- 4:25Speaker 1: of cities or you're born in those types of cities
- 4:26Speaker 1: where the real talent is just like in anything, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: it comes from everywhere. You're part of that, one of
- 4:31Speaker 1: the limbs on the tree, that fruit that we need
- 4:34Speaker 1: to grow. And so when you made the decision to
- 4:37Speaker 1: go to Atlanta for college, that was the first major
- 4:40Speaker 1: decision you had to make because you would leaving home
- 4:42Speaker 1: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Atlanta, Georgia, which we know. I've
- 4:46Speaker 1: been in Oklahoma City and I said that joking earlier,
- 4:48Speaker 1: but I was for real. I know the black population there.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Now you come into a market where we know is
- 4:53Speaker 1: truly an African American market. What was that like? What
- 4:55Speaker 1: was that transition for you? Oh? It was definitely a
- 4:59Speaker 1: culture shark. I mean, you know, there are black population
- 5:02Speaker 1: in Oklahoma. You can count on your on your on
- 5:05Speaker 1: your one hand, on one hand, you know, we don't
- 5:08Speaker 1: mix up a lot a lot of space. We will
- 5:11Speaker 1: take up a lot of space in Oklahoma, but there
- 5:13Speaker 1: are black people. So I will just sell that miss
- 5:16Speaker 1: right now. People always ask me, oh, I didn't know
- 5:20Speaker 1: black people live in Oklahoma, and I'm like, yep, yep,
- 5:23Speaker 1: because here's one right here. So uh, I think you know,
- 5:29Speaker 1: for me, it was a cultural shock because Atlanta obviously
- 5:32Speaker 1: is about that culture and black love and black history
- 5:35Speaker 1: and black restaurants and black owned businesses and black owned designers,
- 5:39Speaker 1: like it's everything black, and that's what I wanted, you know.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I I the reason why I even found out about
- 5:46Speaker 1: like college in Atlanta. Is because I was impacted on
- 5:51Speaker 1: by a movie called Drumline. I saw that in high
- 5:54Speaker 1: school and I was like, I want that experience. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: want in all black experience HBCU. I want I want
- 6:01Speaker 1: to see the girls dancing like that. I was the
- 6:04Speaker 1: drum Line have rhythm, like I want to be around that.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So I looked it up our Line, and I thought,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I was so ready to, you know, move forward. I
- 6:14Speaker 1: thought there's a school on drum Line was a real school.
- 6:16Speaker 1: So I looked at the school that and it went to,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and I found out that it was false obviously created
- 6:21Speaker 1: for the movie. But hey, I'm in Oklahoma, you know.
- 6:25Speaker 1: So I found out that Okay, they filmed it in
- 6:30Speaker 1: Atlanta on a college campus, which happened to be um
- 6:34Speaker 1: An HBCU. So in the A U C Center that
- 6:38Speaker 1: makes up more House Stemming in Clark, Atlanta. You know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: all of the campuses are on one campus there in Atlanta.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So I applied to Spellman, I applied to Clarks, I
- 6:47Speaker 1: got a sas to Clark, and I went to Clark
- 6:50Speaker 1: and congratulations because that that that was a seed for
- 6:54Speaker 1: while we were talking today and uh, because you know
- 6:56Speaker 1: HBCUs I'm a part of a lot of camp pins
- 7:00Speaker 1: with HBCU. I didn't attended. I didn't attend an HBCU,
- 7:04Speaker 1: but I'm such a fan of bringing the quality of
- 7:08Speaker 1: educated people that their brand awareness that hbc uses given out,
- 7:12Speaker 1: especially in Hollywood. All the wood is really being overrun
- 7:15Speaker 1: by HBCU graduates, which is really positive as well as
- 7:17Speaker 1: the I'm sure you're finding it out as well, you know.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And so with that being said, I am, Yeah, that's
- 7:25Speaker 1: something that I'm I'm proud to to be a part
- 7:28Speaker 1: of it as well. And I'm I'm glad that people
- 7:30Speaker 1: are mentioning that because it only puts my business in
- 7:34Speaker 1: our HBCUs. You know, like at the end of the day,
- 7:37Speaker 1: college is a business. If I ain't nobody going and
- 7:40Speaker 1: nobody's showing, and you ain't like we need the ABC
- 7:43Speaker 1: used to be in the business. So yeah, I'm glad
- 7:47Speaker 1: that people are, like I think lean away when you um,
- 7:51Speaker 1: a lot of people are coming out mentioning that in
- 7:54Speaker 1: their journey or story, and I think that's important. That's
- 7:58Speaker 1: why I had to mention it in your story in
- 8:00Speaker 1: your journey. My executive producer, she's from Hampton, you know,
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know, I gotta get love over there. She keeps
- 8:07Speaker 1: me right every every time I do this show. Now, listen,
- 8:10Speaker 1: I don't want to get anybody mad because it may
- 8:13Speaker 1: seem like I've drifted off into a personal conversation about
- 8:15Speaker 1: your life. Do you have a show coming out? Tyler
- 8:19Speaker 1: Perry is ruthless? Before we talk about that show, the
- 8:22Speaker 1: seed of your character was planted in his other shows
- 8:28Speaker 1: they're over now. It was really interested. I would reading.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I always trying to do additional research and what they
- 8:34Speaker 1: sent over to me, and I was reading this article
- 8:36Speaker 1: and he was talking about you know, you said Tyler
- 8:38Speaker 1: Perry was a genius. You said this guy was amazing.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Why did you say that about Tyler Perry Because that's
- 8:45Speaker 1: what I truly believe. I think he is amazing. I
- 8:48Speaker 1: think he is genius. Any man who can write greate producer. Okay,
- 8:52Speaker 1: first of all, let me just start from the beginning.
- 8:53Speaker 1: My background is theater major. But I did uh continue
- 8:59Speaker 1: educating ation under the Media Production program. So I twitched
- 9:03Speaker 1: my major, okay, because I was like, I need to
- 9:07Speaker 1: learn the behind the scenes because later on down the line, Um,
- 9:11Speaker 1: you know, just having the theater major isn't going to
- 9:13Speaker 1: be enough. So I need to learn how to produce.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I need to learn how to edit. I need to
- 9:17Speaker 1: learn learn how where did the rights go? So I
- 9:20Speaker 1: have good lighting? Right? Um? So I learned all that.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And I'm saying that to say any man that can
- 9:27Speaker 1: at his level, I'm talking about Netflix skills. I'm talking
- 9:29Speaker 1: about cable bt own uh now with this streaming service
- 9:34Speaker 1: that he's partnered with, the b t V E T plus. Um,
- 9:37Speaker 1: anything I can write, create, produced, and direct and steel,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you know, be a personality themselves with them India Tour.
- 9:46Speaker 1: That's a genius in my eyes. And if anybody wants
- 9:49Speaker 1: to to disagree, I love to talk about it. I
- 9:53Speaker 1: love to talk about it. I won't I won't disagree.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I will not disagree at all. Okay, I just like
- 9:58Speaker 1: to talk about the relationship up because of the fact
- 10:01Speaker 1: that you know, everybody needs to toot that horn. It's
- 10:03Speaker 1: not tied to just he gave me an acting shot.
- 10:06Speaker 1: He's doing it over and over. The thing like about
- 10:08Speaker 1: Tyler Perry's that he does all these things and you
- 10:11Speaker 1: talked to him, it's the same guy he's you know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: he doesn't change. Did some walk on the stage floor
- 10:16Speaker 1: and he's some little weird dude or some over energized person.
- 10:20Speaker 1: It's the same individual. That's that's to me is amazing,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you know, being that he built his career, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 1: with Medea and all that stuff as an actor playing
- 10:29Speaker 1: a female role or female character over the top. But
- 10:32Speaker 1: he's so centered. Now, let's talk about the series. Is
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's not centered. It's Tyler Perry's the Oval. Okay, Now, okay,
- 10:42Speaker 1: like I got to talk about this show. If you
- 10:45Speaker 1: have not seen this show, everybody, Okay, the lead characters,
- 10:49Speaker 1: the guy looks like Bradley Cooper, the lead character. That's
- 10:51Speaker 1: the president, the president. It's it's a it's a dysfunctional show.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Right that the Obamas have left the White House and
- 10:59Speaker 1: it this far family has moved in. I'm talking about
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm talking about, folks, This functional at the steroid level
- 11:06Speaker 1: has moved in. Okay, Okay, the President and the first
- 11:12Speaker 1: lady she's black, he's white. Okay, they do not they
- 11:16Speaker 1: do not get controversial, they do not get along the
- 11:21Speaker 1: least develop their problems that she's black, he's white. For
- 11:24Speaker 1: these people, that's the least of the problems on the show.
- 11:26Speaker 1: That is like minor league that that quickly becomes a
- 11:30Speaker 1: non issue compared to the other problems that they have
- 11:34Speaker 1: going on. Did they have a daughter? I gotta talked.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I gotta tell the doughters, she's crazy. Okay. The mama
- 11:43Speaker 1: actually tastes the dollar on the show, tastes her in
- 11:49Speaker 1: front of people, eat the white out, in front of
- 11:52Speaker 1: the in front of the security. You don't care. The mama,
- 11:56Speaker 1: her mama, her actual mom, not the step mama. Her
- 11:59Speaker 1: actual mama, tases her own daughter. Mama, the mama. Okay,
- 12:03Speaker 1: she has her she burst two kids, two kids, Okay,
- 12:09Speaker 1: now your daughter. Now, this is Tyler Perry's over office.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give everything away, but I gotta set
- 12:15Speaker 1: these characters because we're gonna get to Yeah, we got
- 12:17Speaker 1: we still got to let them watch it now, Okay, no, no,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you know me. I'm not gonna bust Tyler Perry's bubber.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But there's enough crazy in his own this show. Enough
- 12:27Speaker 1: drug dealing going on, this show, enough enough sex going on.
- 12:32Speaker 1: I mean sex sex, sex, sex is going on. This
- 12:35Speaker 1: show is ridiculous. Oh my good man. And then your character,
- 12:39Speaker 1: well that's got to be that's got number one TV.
- 12:46Speaker 1: He does. I'm telling my why. Then your character. You're
- 12:50Speaker 1: part of a coat, she's saying, because you know she's
- 12:59Speaker 1: she could you know she could really sing. Okay, So
- 13:03Speaker 1: she causally throws in these notes along the way, humming, humming.
- 13:07Speaker 1: She has a child with the with the son of
- 13:11Speaker 1: the butler at the White House, but she has a
- 13:15Speaker 1: twin sister. Ain't gonna go no, I'm not gonna go
- 13:17Speaker 1: any further than that that she has a twin sister.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So she plays two characters in the oval. Am I
- 13:23Speaker 1: am I right now? But if you can correct me, Melissa,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I'm wrong. No, you're right. I'm just I'm just listening
- 13:28Speaker 1: to smiling Okay. Cool. So so, so it's all set up.
- 13:34Speaker 1: So picture this. Like I said earlier, the Obama's gracious,
- 13:40Speaker 1: the epitome of elegance has left the White House and
- 13:46Speaker 1: part hood, part trailer park, part uh foolishness, part uppity.
- 13:57Speaker 1: Deputy stupidity as moved in. So the staff at the
- 14:03Speaker 1: White House they caught off guard. They're not they're not
- 14:07Speaker 1: ready for this. If you just watch, I just beg.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I just beg people that just do me this faith.
- 14:13Speaker 1: If you question every Shad's enthusiasm, just watch the pilot.
- 14:17Speaker 1: If you watch the pilot. I swear to you, if
- 14:20Speaker 1: you watch the pilot, he has you you cannot believe
- 14:27Speaker 1: what we'll go on in the next episode. And we
- 14:29Speaker 1: get to the next episode, it gets more crazy. You
- 14:32Speaker 1: know what you have said, none but the truth me
- 14:35Speaker 1: lessa tell us about your character and more detail. And uh,
- 14:38Speaker 1: let's uh, let's let's talk about this journey of this
- 14:40Speaker 1: new series because it's twenty four episodes. Correct, yes, it
- 14:43Speaker 1: is the twenty four episodes. It will be coming out
- 14:45Speaker 1: on d et plus, which is d e t s

- 14:52Speaker 1: available everywhere Android, Amazon, Apple, Roku. It's available everywhere. You
- 14:58Speaker 1: can type in on your smart m d et plus. UM.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So that's just letting everybody know. The price is coming
- 15:06Speaker 1: out on March nineteenth, and we are not dropping one,
- 15:10Speaker 1: we're not dropping two. We're dropping three episodes at one
- 15:14Speaker 1: on March nineteenth, just to show you you know what
- 15:19Speaker 1: Looseless is about. And literally, uh, from those three people
- 15:23Speaker 1: are going to be hooked. I mean from the third
- 15:24Speaker 1: one you're gonna be hooked. But those three right there, bokline,
- 15:29Speaker 1: It's finally here. The season of Celebration and no matter

- 17:25Speaker 1: dot ai and Singer Well no, now, like I was
- 17:30Speaker 1: hooked on the Oval when it came out on BT
- 17:33Speaker 1: and that was really like an adult soap. That's what
- 17:37Speaker 1: they are. Oval really is what what exactly is? Ruthless?
- 17:42Speaker 1: What exactly? Yeah? What exactly? Like I said, you know,
- 17:45Speaker 1: the the Oval was more like an adult soap op? Okay,
- 17:49Speaker 1: what exactly is Tyler? Perish Ruthly, what exactly is the
- 17:52Speaker 1: theme of that and what drives the energy of the characters,
- 17:55Speaker 1: because we can get a more a little more detailed
- 17:57Speaker 1: in building enthusiasm because as I am enthusiastic and there's
- 18:00Speaker 1: about the Oval, they should definitely be enthus because your
- 18:02Speaker 1: character was very dynamic and it was developed on the
- 18:06Speaker 1: Oval show. So being this smart person than he is,
- 18:09Speaker 1: Tyler Berry spends it off. This characters this character off.
- 18:13Speaker 1: So tell us about the dynamics of your character that
- 18:16Speaker 1: was on The Oval, because I didn't want to give
- 18:18Speaker 1: that away too much. I want you to be able
- 18:20Speaker 1: to express that in your own words and then transition
- 18:22Speaker 1: and over the new show. Okay, okay, So my character
- 18:26Speaker 1: in uh The Oval that hasn't spent off is named Ruth.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Ruth has a baby with Barry, who is Um, the
- 18:36Speaker 1: son of Nancy Um Nancy which is the house the
- 18:44Speaker 1: house basically the house grandmother right now because her husband
- 18:48Speaker 1: works for the White House, he's the butler. His name
- 18:49Speaker 1: is Richard. So Um Ruth comes and she's like she
- 18:54Speaker 1: wants her child because Barry has full custody at the
- 18:57Speaker 1: moment because of Ruth path and she's like, I want
- 19:02Speaker 1: to see my my daughter, and that turned into her
- 19:05Speaker 1: kidnapping her daughter with her cult members and taking her back. Um,
- 19:11Speaker 1: So Ruthless is going to show you where she's taking
- 19:14Speaker 1: her back too. So basically Ruthless is Ruth's character, UM
- 19:19Speaker 1: taking her daughter to this cold and you're going to
- 19:21Speaker 1: be getting an inside look of this fanatical underground world
- 19:27Speaker 1: that is the rocket issue that's saying the call wow.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And it's all shot in Atlanta. It's all shot in
- 19:37Speaker 1: Atlanta on his studios. Um. It's it's literally I think
- 19:44Speaker 1: I could be wrong, but I think I'm right. Um.
- 19:46Speaker 1: This is like the first series that he shot like
- 19:50Speaker 1: on location. So he made an actual compound for the
- 19:55Speaker 1: cal just for the show. And when I tell you,
- 19:59Speaker 1: just like walking on the ground of it, it's pretty,
- 20:03Speaker 1: it's pretty eerie. So he's gotten it down to even
- 20:07Speaker 1: just like the aesthetics. UM, and people are going to
- 20:11Speaker 1: feel the eeriness of it because at the end of
- 20:13Speaker 1: the day, like this is someone was telling in this
- 20:17Speaker 1: earlier but it's it's kind of like speaking to that
- 20:20Speaker 1: fear of um the unknown. Because the new books on
- 20:24Speaker 1: Netflix types and cult, You're gonna get hundreds of documentaries
- 20:29Speaker 1: on cults that are either inactive or active or we
- 20:34Speaker 1: don't know they're active, you know what I mean. So
- 20:36Speaker 1: like these are it's a thing. It's just no one
- 20:39Speaker 1: brings it to the forefront. But I think that, um,
- 20:43Speaker 1: this show is is going to be pioneering for Tyler
- 20:47Speaker 1: Perry because it's deefinitely out of the box and and
- 20:50Speaker 1: almost out of the out of the comfort zone of
- 20:53Speaker 1: like doing the lighthearted comedy. You know what you did?
- 20:56Speaker 1: That would a fall from grace with me because of
- 20:59Speaker 1: the fact that, well, that's what I'm saying, this is
- 21:01Speaker 1: a new way. So he started with a fall from
- 21:03Speaker 1: grace and we got all when he's six million of
- 21:07Speaker 1: those Netflix eyes on that, and that just made me
- 21:11Speaker 1: even more say, I know Ruthless is going to have
- 21:15Speaker 1: people just the same because it's on the same as
- 21:17Speaker 1: to say, he's going the same way with it, just
- 21:19Speaker 1: the drama, thriller, horror type. Right. No, nothing, I never
- 21:26Speaker 1: take for granted any talent. And you are a talent
- 21:28Speaker 1: when you're doing characters. And I can tease about your characters,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but there's work involved in auditioning for this character. Tell
- 21:37Speaker 1: us that whole process and and when you got the
- 21:40Speaker 1: role and then also the announcement of the new series.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Let's let's first talk about I could like to live
- 21:46Speaker 1: my my fans, know how who wanted who aspire to
- 21:50Speaker 1: a world of entertainment or the level of acting and
- 21:53Speaker 1: acting that's a job, So talk about that whole process.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Oh well, it's definitely definitely. I was definitely job and
- 22:01Speaker 1: it's definitely a journey one that you've got to have
- 22:04Speaker 1: faith for. So um, I moved to California after I
- 22:08Speaker 1: after I finished the college in Atlanta, and I came
- 22:14Speaker 1: out here knowing nothing, and you know, I do no theater,
- 22:17Speaker 1: so I was extra in Atlanta, and that's like the
- 22:21Speaker 1: most experience I had had on like a TV or
- 22:24Speaker 1: film set, professionals set. So when I moved here, I
- 22:28Speaker 1: just started doing a lot of research on like you know,
- 22:30Speaker 1: wanting to get your head shots, what I do Actors
- 22:33Speaker 1: go on to to submit themselves for auditions. And once
- 22:37Speaker 1: I started getting all this material and knowledge by just
- 22:40Speaker 1: doing it the research myself, I was like garnering results.
- 22:46Speaker 1: My first role that I was on the game, and
- 22:49Speaker 1: that was from me submitting myself and my picture. It
- 22:53Speaker 1: was a head shot. It wasn't professional. I had nothing
- 22:55Speaker 1: on my resume, but Jay selected me and then the
- 23:00Speaker 1: delimma is me having to get back to Atlanta to
- 23:03Speaker 1: do the audition, you know, and so it was another fight,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and I think that, Um, it's just it takes this.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I think any career, any career with longevity, takes that
- 23:14Speaker 1: fight in that drive, uh, because it's not always gonna
- 23:18Speaker 1: be up. It's up and down. You know, a journey
- 23:22Speaker 1: is up and down, and so if you have that fight,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you'll be able to survive at all. And I think
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's that's what my journey has taught me. It's built
- 23:31Speaker 1: my character as a person to be able to withstand
- 23:35Speaker 1: like all the nose until you get the big yes,
- 23:38Speaker 1: which right now for me is this moment. So for Ruth, um,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I auditioned for the Oval for another character and never
- 23:46Speaker 1: audition for Ruth. So what character character did your audition for?
- 23:53Speaker 1: I auditioned for Lily that Lily uh, Sierra Peyton is drawn. Um,
- 24:00Speaker 1: So I auditioned for that and then I got a
- 24:02Speaker 1: call back for that and his other shows. This so
- 24:07Speaker 1: I had died for both of the shows, and he
- 24:11Speaker 1: flew us all out to do that in Atlanta. We
- 24:13Speaker 1: did it at his studios and that was the first
- 24:15Speaker 1: time I had entered with Mary Studios um, and he
- 24:19Speaker 1: offered me the role of Denise. So then call from
- 24:25Speaker 1: Tyler Harry. Huh. He offered used a roll of Denise. Yes,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I got that was my first. Then I got a
- 24:32Speaker 1: phone call crazy daughter huh No, no, no, Denise, Denise
- 24:37Speaker 1: is the mistress to roll. That's right, that's right. They
- 24:39Speaker 1: got beat up. That's right, that's right, right. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:42Speaker 1: so Denise. That was my first. He offered me that one.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And then and then I got a phone call um
- 24:48Speaker 1: from a number I didn't know, and I didn't answer,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and then I got a text in the text said
- 24:51Speaker 1: it had to carry here. I'm trying to reach you,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and I was lying stop stop stop stop. And so
- 24:57Speaker 1: you got a phone call he nobody calling you, ain't
- 25:01Speaker 1: nobody calling you? And you have not to answer a
- 25:04Speaker 1: certain phone number. Now do you answer number? I aswer everything.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I asked everything I know to stay. No. Sorry, I
- 25:12Speaker 1: don't know you buy I don't say that real quick,
- 25:17Speaker 1: but less I'm telling you, so you better stop all that.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I don't know that, but I'm not gonna answer, okay,
- 25:22Speaker 1: because some of those calls come from offices and the
- 25:25Speaker 1: officers don't have texting capabilities. Okay, Oh is that what
- 25:31Speaker 1: it is? Yes, ma'am. I'm telling you. I think that
- 25:34Speaker 1: my for me for me. Um, this is how this
- 25:39Speaker 1: is my my motto. It's just important. And I don't
- 25:41Speaker 1: have your number thing, and people just like otherwise. Huh.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I love you. I know something. I can't say that.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I can't say anything to you. You submitted yourself to
- 25:54Speaker 1: the game with no representation and got and got an audition,
- 25:58Speaker 1: and you got your behind to Atlanta and you got
- 26:01Speaker 1: cast on the show. So you got the tudacity, you
- 26:04Speaker 1: got to drive. But if somebody called you from a
- 26:07Speaker 1: number you don't know, answer, okay, answer it might be Rishan,
- 26:12Speaker 1: might be Rishawn calling you. I might be calling and
- 26:15Speaker 1: looks like, well, now that I know that it might
- 26:17Speaker 1: be used. Always continue a fantastic story. Continue. I'm enjoying it.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Come on, my listeners are enjoying it too. Okay. So
- 26:27Speaker 1: then he calls me, so I missed the car. I
- 26:30Speaker 1: called him back, and he just starts, you know, talking
- 26:33Speaker 1: my way because obviously he knows my number. Let me
- 26:35Speaker 1: tell you something, Perry is a very smart man. He
- 26:38Speaker 1: didn't say hello when I when I called him, we
- 26:41Speaker 1: just started talking. He said, all right, cool, I'm about
- 26:43Speaker 1: to start my vacation, but I have a little time.
- 26:45Speaker 1: And I said hello, and he said, alright, cool, I'm
- 26:48Speaker 1: about to start my vacation, but I have a little time.
- 26:49Speaker 1: So you're playing Denise in my new show that oh well,
- 26:52Speaker 1: I really want you to. And he just kept talking
- 26:54Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, this is really dun Perry.
- 26:58Speaker 1: And so then I just listen no, because that listen
- 27:02Speaker 1: You have to remember as an actress, right, we're used
- 27:05Speaker 1: to going to auditions, um and going home and going
- 27:09Speaker 1: on with our lives. Because if you dwell on one audition,
- 27:13Speaker 1: you lose your mind. So that's why I was like, yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 1: I did audition for these things, but no way, he's
- 27:19Speaker 1: calling me right now, you know. So um uh he
- 27:23Speaker 1: called me and he says all these things. He's like,
- 27:25Speaker 1: I want you to play roots. I don't want to
- 27:27Speaker 1: work with Peo for a long time. I'm doing a
- 27:29Speaker 1: spinoff and I think that would be a better role, see,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you know, for your range. And I didn't want to
- 27:33Speaker 1: like to think about it, take a time think about it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I said, well, first of all, hi, Tyler Perry and
- 27:39Speaker 1: then I had a cousin and then I said yes,
- 27:43Speaker 1: the answer is yes, and he's like, no, just think
- 27:46Speaker 1: about it. You know, it was fourth of July at
- 27:48Speaker 1: that time, so it's like this, you know, spend the holiday,
- 27:50Speaker 1: think about it. Checks me in the morning with your
- 27:53Speaker 1: with the answer, I'm like, did you just see? All right?
- 27:57Speaker 1: So I said, you know what, okay, Mr Perry, I
- 28:00Speaker 1: will pray on it and i'll text you in the morning.
- 28:02Speaker 1: He said okay, and I did that and I sleep.
- 28:09Speaker 1: In my spirit it was confirmed. Could you sleep? That's all?
- 28:12Speaker 1: I don't know. You know hot fast can daylight comes
- 28:17Speaker 1: in the morning? I know. I was like, I was
- 28:21Speaker 1: like those kids waiting for the first day of school
- 28:23Speaker 1: with their hands on their on their cheeks, just looking
- 28:25Speaker 1: out the window. That was me. I was like, come on,
- 28:29Speaker 1: come on, let it be appropriate time, six seven am,
- 28:32Speaker 1: in appropriate, Hi, Mr Perry, I'd like to roll for
- 28:35Speaker 1: Thank you so much. And that's how I went. It
- 28:38Speaker 1: was a tech and he text me back and he's like,
- 28:41Speaker 1: sorry the blindside you, but this is gonna be really fine.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Thank you so much. I'll be in touch with you.
- 28:47Speaker 1: And I was like, whoa wow, congratulation, what a great
- 28:55Speaker 1: story and an honest story. And your career is honest
- 28:58Speaker 1: based on honesty and supreme hard work and not letting
- 29:02Speaker 1: people doubt you and not telling you that you're going
- 29:05Speaker 1: in a certain area you can't accomplish your dreams and
- 29:07Speaker 1: you're willing to travel. Not just from Oklahoma. You went
