- 0:00Today's tech news moves fast, but understanding
- 0:03it shouldn't be hard. That's why Snarfl Solutions
- 0:06Group brings you Connecting the Dots, where we
- 0:09break down what's happening in tech and why it
- 0:11matters to you. Now, let's dive in with your
- 0:14hosts. Welcome to Connecting the Dots. I am Alex.
- 0:18And I am Morgan. Good morning, everyone. It is,
- 0:21well, it is Wednesday, February 25th, 2026. And
- 0:26we have a a pretty massive stack of tech news
- 0:29to get through today. We really do. It is a busy
- 0:31morning. But before we get into the tech, we
- 0:33always like to set the stage. What is the weather
- 0:36looking like out there today? It is honestly
- 0:39a little disjointed. If you look at the national
- 0:41map, you have critical fire weather persisting
- 0:44down in the central and southern high plains.
- 0:46Wow, high winds and all that. Yeah, high winds,
- 0:48super dry. But then at the exact same time, there
- 0:51was a clipper system dumping lake effect snow
- 0:54across the Great Lakes and into the northeast.
- 0:56So fire in the middle, ice in the east. What
- 0:58about the rest of the country? Out west through
- 1:01the plains and down in the southeast, we are
- 1:03seeing unseasonably warm temperatures just expanding.
- 1:06And locally? Locally here in Sacramento. There
- 1:08is a slight chance of rain early on, but it is
- 1:11going to transition to mostly cloudy skies, high
- 1:14of about 67 degrees. Not too bad. Well, speaking
- 1:16of disjointed, the financial markets are kind
- 1:19of a mixed bag of energy right now, too. They
- 1:21definitely are. The Dow Jones closed yesterday,
- 1:23that is Tuesday, a 0 .71 percent. So it is sitting
- 1:26at 49 ,174 .07. Right. And the S &P 500 had a
- 1:32very similar bump. closing up point seven seven
- 1:34percent at six thousand eight hundred and ninety
- 1:37point zero seven. But the real mover, the one
- 1:40everyone is looking at for that risk on behavior
- 1:43is Bitcoin. Yeah, Bitcoin is having a moment.
- 1:45It is currently trading up significantly about
- 1:48three point nine percent, hovering right around
- 1:50sixty six thousand five hundred and forty eight
- 1:52dollars. Exactly. And when you see crypto moving
- 1:54like that alongside a tech rally, it tells you
- 1:57investors are feeling a bit adventurous. They
- 1:59are definitely looking for growth, which, you
- 2:01know, brings us to a different kind of fuel.
- 2:02Oh, absolutely. We have some incredibly complex
- 2:05technical concepts to unpack for you today. So
- 2:08brain fog is just not an option. And that is
- 2:10why we are so thrilled to partner with Strong
- 2:12Coffee. It really is the best. And look, Strong
- 2:14Coffee is premium instant coffee. But do not
- 2:16let the word instant fool you. It tastes just
- 2:18like a traditional brew. But it is doing a lot
- 2:20more work for you. It includes 15 grams of protein,
- 2:23MCTs and adaptogens like ashwagandha, which is
- 2:26huge for focus. You get clean, sustained energy,
- 2:29but without those terrible jitters you get from
- 2:31regular energy drinks. Exactly. So if you want
- 2:34to stay sharp, visit StrongCoffeeCompany .com
- 2:37and use promo code SNARFL for 20 % off your entire
- 2:40purchase. That is promo code SNARFL. Alright,
- 2:43let us jump right into our feature segment. It
- 2:45is time for the morning star, which is our SNARFL
- 2:48Tech article report. Always my favorite part
- 2:50of the day. So setting the table for you all,
- 2:52the theme today is control versus chaos. That
- 2:55is a great way to put it. We are looking at this
- 2:57incredible tension between established systems
- 3:00of record and this brand new wave of vibe coding
- 3:03AI agents. And our first story is ground zero
- 3:06for this exact conflict. Workday reported their
- 3:09Q4 earnings yesterday. Right, and the numbers
- 3:11were good. They were very good. They reported
- 3:14Q4 revenue of $2 .53 billion. That is up 14 .5
- 3:19% year over year. They beat Wall Street estimates.
- 3:22But, and this is the crazy part, the stock absolutely
- 3:25plummeted in pre -market and after -hours trading.
- 3:28Yeah, dropping somewhere between 9 and 13%. Why
- 3:31does the market punish a company for beating
- 3:33estimates? Because the market is entirely forward
- 3:36-looking. Workday issued what investors considered
- 3:38light guidance for their fiscal year 2027 subscription
- 3:43revenue. What were the numbers on that guidance?
- 3:45They projected between 9 .925 and 9 .95 billion
- 3:49dollars. Which is a massive amount of money.
- 3:51It is a staggering amount, but it was just shy
- 3:54of what the most aggressive analysts wanted to
- 3:56see. But the drop wasn't really just about the
- 3:59math. It was about the narrative. Precisely.
- 4:02Investors are incredibly skittish right now about
- 4:05competition from AI startups, companies like
- 4:07Anthropic and OpenAI. There is this core fear
- 4:11that AI agents are just going to completely replace
- 4:14traditional SaaS platforms like Workday. Right.
- 4:16Why pay millions for an enterprise HR system
- 4:19if an AI agent can just figure out payroll? And
- 4:22that is exactly where Workday's CEO, Anil Bhusri,
- 4:25had to step in and defend the castle. He came
- 4:27out very strong against this idea. He actually
- 4:29used the term vibe coding. Let's define that
- 4:31for the listener real quick. Vibe coding is this
- 4:34new concept where developers use natural language,
- 4:37just plain English, to tell an AI what they want
- 4:39to build instead of writing strict lines of code.
- 4:42You are coding by feeling, essentially. Right.
- 4:45But Husserl was not using it as a compliment.
- 4:48He said, and I quote, no amount of vibe coding
- 4:50is going to produce an HR or an ERP system. He
- 4:53is drawing a very hard line between probabilistic
- 4:57systems and deterministic systems. Break that
- 5:00down for us. What is the difference? Okay, think
- 5:03of a traditional system of record as a vending
- 5:05machine. If you press button A1, you get a bag
- 5:08of chips. every single time. Same input equals
- 5:11same output. That is deterministic. It is a state
- 5:14machine. Because if I work 40 hours, I want my
- 5:17paycheck to reflect exactly 40 hours. Exactly.
- 5:20You do not want variability in finance or human
- 5:22resources. But AI models are probabilistic. They're
- 5:25basically incredibly advanced guessing machines
- 5:27that predict the next word or number based on
- 5:30patterns. So Puzeri is saying you do not want
- 5:32an AI guessing your company's tax liabilities
- 5:35based on vibes. Exactly. He argued that AI is
- 5:39not a state machine today, and maybe it never
- 5:41will be. So what is Workday's actual strategy
- 5:44here to survive? They are taking a hybrid approach.
- 5:47They want to keep that deterministic vending
- 5:49machine core completely locked down for accuracy,
- 5:53but then marry it with AI agents on top for the
- 5:55user experience. They have been buying up AI
- 5:58companies too, right? Yeah. They acquired Paradox,
- 6:01Sana, and PipeDream. and they reported processing
- 6:041 .7 billion AI actions. But the core data stays
- 6:08rigid. It is fascinating. It is a bet that boring,
- 6:12accurate stuff is still king when millions of
- 6:14dollars are on the line. Boring keeps you out
- 6:16of legal trouble. Exactly. But while Workday
- 6:19is trying to keep everything locked down, our
- 6:21second story shows how fast the vibe coding revolution
- 6:24is actually moving. This one is wild. Anthropic
- 6:26just rolled out a new feature for Claude Code
- 6:28called Remote Control. And this directly changes
- 6:31the physical reality of being a software developer.
- 6:33It really does. So historically, if you are running
- 6:35a huge code build or testing something complex,
- 6:38you are chained to your desk. You have to watch
- 6:40the terminal. Right. Because if it breaks, you
- 6:42have to be there to fix the error. Not anymore.
- 6:45With remote control, you can start a coding session
- 6:48in your terminal on your desktop, and it generates
- 6:51a QR code or a link. OK. You scan that with your
- 6:54phone and you can continue controlling that entire
- 6:57desktop session from the Claude app in your pocket.
- 7:00Wait, does the code transfer to your phone? Because
- 7:03that sounds like a massive security risk for
- 7:05corporate IP. No, and that is the brilliant part.
- 7:09The code stays entirely on your local machine.
- 7:12It does not move to the cloud. Your phone just
- 7:14acts as a remote commander through a live bridge.
- 7:17Oh, I see. It uses temporary access tokens that
- 7:20completely expire the second the session ends.
- 7:22So I could theoretically kick off a massive database
- 7:25migration, leave the office, go walk my dog,
- 7:28and if the AI hits a snag, it just pings my phone.
- 7:30Yes, you just review it while holding the leash,
- 7:33tap approve, and the AI goes back to work on
- 7:35your computer at home. That is the ultimate vibe
- 7:38coding lifestyle. It really shifts the job from
- 7:40typing code to supervising an agent. You are
- 7:43untethered. It is currently in research preview
- 7:45for cloud -backed subscribers, but you can see
- 7:47where this is going. Workday wants you at the
- 7:49desk, ensuring accuracy. And Anthropic is saying,
- 7:52go grab a coffee. The AI has this. It's a totally
- 7:55different philosophy. But if we want to talk
- 7:57about true scale and adoption of these tools,
- 8:00we have to look at our third story today. Yes.
- 8:03Let us talk about Alibaba's new AI assistant
- 8:06app, Quinn. The numbers on this release are just
- 8:09staggering. Quinn hit 10 million downloads in
- 8:13its first week. Which is hard to even wrap your
- 8:15head around. Let's put that in context. ChatGPT
- 8:18was the fastest growing consumer app in history
- 8:20when it launched. How fast did it grow? It took
- 8:23ChatGPT five days to hit one million users. Quinn
- 8:27did 10 million in a week. So it is operating
- 8:29on a completely different magnitude of scale.
- 8:32Is the tech actually that good or is it just
- 8:35because Alibaba has a massive built -in audience?
- 8:37The tech is legitimately top tier. Quinn is built
- 8:40on their Quinn 3 model. And the sources point
- 8:42out this is a mixture of experts model. We hear
- 8:45that term a lot in AI circles, mixture of experts.
- 8:48How does that actually work under the hood? Think
- 8:50of an older AI model like a single general practitioner
- 8:53doctor. You ask it a question and that one doctor
- 8:56tries to figure out the answer. OK. A mixture
- 8:58of experts model is like a massive hospital.
- 9:01When you type in a prompt. A router looks at
- 9:04it and decides which specific specialist should
- 9:06handle it. So if I ask it to write Python script,
- 9:08it sends it to the coding expert. Exactly. And
- 9:11if you ask a math question, it routes it to the
- 9:14math expert. It only activates a tiny fraction
- 9:18of its brain for each query. Which makes it way
- 9:20more efficient. Faster, cheaper to run, and it
- 9:24claims to rival or even beat OpenAI's O1 and
- 9:28Google's Gemini 2 .5 Pro in coding and math.
- 9:31And it even has deep research capabilities, camera
- 9:34inputs, and vibe coding features built right
- 9:37in. Right. Now their business strategy here is
- 9:39fascinating. They are doing a total free -for
- 9:42-all. No subscription fees. None. They're releasing
- 9:44this completely for free to gain mass adoption
- 9:46across China's 1 .4 billion people. The plan
- 9:51is to get everyone hooked and monetized later
- 9:53through enterprise cloud services. Now, we do
- 9:55need to point out what the sources note regarding
- 9:57the geopolitical context here. Yes. The reports
- 10:00indicate that these models are required to align
- 10:02with local government narratives. Right. We are
- 10:04just passing along what the reporting says. The
- 10:07tools are subject to strict censorship based
- 10:10on local regulations. Absolutely. But even with
- 10:13that filter in place, the sheer velocity of consumer
- 10:16adoption is the real story for the tech industry.
- 10:18It connects the dots perfectly back to our first
- 10:21story. U .S. companies are fighting over enterprise
- 10:23subscriptions and accuracy. Meanwhile, Alibaba
- 10:27is just flooding the consumer market to build
- 10:29the ultimate AI super app. If 10 million people
- 10:33get used to a free AI running their personal
- 10:35lives in one week, they're going to expect their
- 10:38workplace software to act the exact same way.
- 10:40And that is the wave Workday is trying to hold
- 10:42back. It is going to be wild to watch. Before
- 10:44we wrap up today, let us talk about a sponsor
- 10:46that brings a little bit of that classic analog
- 10:49joy to our lives. Yes, especially if you have
- 10:52a techie friend who spends all day staring at
- 10:55screens but loves music and sports. You have
- 10:58to check out Old Glory. They are the premier
- 11:00destination for iconic music and sports fan merchandise.
- 11:04They have everything. Vintage band tees, classic
- 11:06sports gear, entertainment merch. It is the perfect
- 11:09place to find a gift. And we have a great deal
- 11:11for you. Visit OldGlory .com and use promo code
- 11:15SNARFL at checkout. You will get 15 % off your
- 11:18entire purchase. That is OldGlory .com promo
- 11:21code SNARFL. All right, let us quickly recap
- 11:24the three big takeaways from today's Morningstar.
- 11:27First up, Workday. They beat earnings, but the
- 11:30stock took a hit because investors are terrified
- 11:32of AI. Workday's defense is that you cannot vibe
- 11:36code a payroll. They are betting that deterministic
- 11:39accuracy will always win in the enterprise. Second
- 11:42story, Anthropic. Anthropic is proving that vibe
- 11:44coding is becoming a lifestyle. Their new remote
- 11:47control feature lets you run complex local code
- 11:49builds directly from your phone while you're
- 11:51out walking the dog. And finally, Alibaba. Alibaba's
- 11:54Ken model hit 10 million downloads in a single
- 11:56week. They're using highly efficient mixture
- 11:59of experts technology to offer world -class AI
- 12:02for free. Proving the consumer appetite for these
- 12:04tools is absolutely massive. It really is a battle
- 12:07between the old systems of record and this new
- 12:09era of AI flexibility. We will see who comes
- 12:12out on top. We're here to help at Snarful, so
- 12:15reach out on our website if you have any more
- 12:16questions. Thanks for listening, and we'll catch
- 12:34you next time.
