Transcript
- 0:11Welcome back to the Lila Rose podcast, everyone.
- 0:16We are trying to do these lives more regularly.
- 0:18Actually special update we will be doing, we do 2 episodes a
- 0:22week for the podcast and we will be doing in the future leading
- 0:26up until I have a short maternity leave coming up here
- 0:29in April. We will actually be doing lives
- 0:32on a weekly basis. There's a chance we might have
- 0:34to move alive here or there, but typically speaking, we're going
- 0:37to be doing a live once a week in addition to an interview or
- 0:42commentary podcast. I'm really excited about that
- 0:44because I enjoy doing these lives and getting to talk
- 0:46directly with people and yeah, commenting on what's happening
- 0:50in the world, live updates on things.
- 0:52There's a lot to talk about. Today was going to be pretty jam
- 0:55packed. I'm going to keep it to an hour
- 0:58because that's the window that we have, but there's so much for
- 1:00us to cover. We're going to be talking about
- 1:04spiritual leadership and what to look for in a man as women and
- 1:07what really is the what does that even mean to be a spiritual
- 1:11leader? There's some viral clips that
- 1:13have gone around recently about this topic in the Christian
- 1:16world. And I think it's a very
- 1:17important topic because it really determines in many ways
- 1:21expectations for dating if you're a Christian and for
- 1:25marriage and how you even operate within a marriage as a
- 1:28husband or a wife. So I think it's very, very
- 1:30important. We're going to look at also what
- 1:31Scripture has to say about spiritual leadership.
- 1:34There's a lot to learn. We're also going to talk about
- 1:36someone who's been in the news frequently and you've probably
- 1:39already heard a lot about her and that's Taylor Swift.
- 1:43She's obviously dating Kansas City Chiefs, the the star Travis
- 1:47Kelsey football player that's been headline news wall to wall
- 1:52for weeks and months and maybe we'll be for years, who knows.
- 1:56And of course, the Super Bowl is this Sunday, so we're going to
- 1:58talk about Taylor Swift. Is Taylor Swift a psyop?
- 2:01It's just like a psychological operation by the government to
- 2:05get Democrats elected. A bunch of people are saying
- 2:07that in the kind of conservative right wing space.
- 2:09We're going to unpack that. And then I think there's some
- 2:11very important things that are coming out of the White House
- 2:13that people should know about and comments from the president,
- 2:16from President Biden. So we're going to do that too.
- 2:18And we're also going to take questions and do AQ and a.
- 2:21So we already have questions. And and then you guys can leave
- 2:23questions in the chat or comment a question.
- 2:25And I will be looking at the chat.
- 2:27Let me make sure I have the right chat up here so that I can
- 2:30be watching for comments as they come in.
- 2:34So thanks for being here. Thanks for tuning in for the
- 2:36live. Excited to unpack all of this
- 2:39and more in today's episode of the podcast.
- 2:42First of all, I need to say thank you to our amazing sponsor
- 2:48Nimi Skin Care. I have talked about Nimi on the
- 2:51podcast before. Mimi is a clean beauty brand
- 2:54that provides really simple but great beauty skin care products
- 2:59and it's a pro-life, pro family company.
- 3:01That's one of the reasons that I first discovered Nimi.
- 3:04It was a great looking brand. The products were clean and
- 3:06great, but it was pro-life and pro family.
- 3:08And as you guys know, I do not shop at Target.
- 3:11I have not shopped at Target since early last summer.
- 3:15I boycott them. I try not to.
- 3:18I do not subscribe to Netflix because of their promotion of
- 3:22material that's sexually exploitative of children.
- 3:25So, you know, that doesn't mean that I don't have a purchase
- 3:28from companies that are doing bad things.
- 3:30Of course, there's so many companies out there doing bad
- 3:32things. But I think occasionally it's
- 3:34powerful for us to show our purchase power as people of
- 3:37values and reject corporations that are really going against
- 3:40our values. So Nimi Skin Care is a great
- 3:43alternative to any number of beauty brands that support
- 3:45abortion and support, you know, transient children and all of
- 3:49these things that go against our values and principles.
- 3:52I also love Nimi Skin Care because the product lines are so
- 3:55easy to use. I am very picky about what I use
- 3:59and I'm very simple. I like to keep my routine
- 4:00simple. I love their hydration cream,
- 4:02which I use in the evening and I sometimes swap that out for
- 4:05their peptide cream. It's very moisturizing.
- 4:08It's fantastic. And then in the morning I use
- 4:10their brightening sunscreen, which I love.
- 4:13I mean, it's a, it's a great product cuz it moisturizes and
- 4:16brightens. But also of course is that
- 4:17protector sunscreen. And then I also like using the
- 4:20vitamin C scrub. So anyways, nimiskincare.com
- 4:22check it out. That's Nimi skincare.com.
- 4:26And then you can use the code Lila at your checkout for 15%
- 4:29off your order. Check it out.
- 4:30Let me know what you guys think. And I think you will love Nimi
- 4:33as much as I I do. I also want to say thank you so
- 4:35much. Hey, guys.
- 4:37Oh, hi. Hi, Samantha from Missouri.
- 4:39We've got people here in the chat saying hello.
- 4:42Hi, Annabelle. Someone says as a husband and
- 4:47father, always listen when it comes to this topic.
- 4:49I think he's talking about spirit, the spiritual leadership
- 4:53topic. Excited to get into that here in
- 4:55a moment. I also just wanted to say thank
- 4:58you so much to our Locals community, which is growing and
- 5:02I'm so excited about that. So Locals is a free speech
- 5:05platform that enables people to come together and work with
- 5:10creators or creative projects and support them and build a
- 5:13community. If you're not already on Locals,
- 5:15go check it out. Our community is growing there.
- 5:17It's really fun. And you can become a subscriber
- 5:20there too for behind the scenes access and special perks.
- 5:23And that will help also fund the podcast so we can continue to do
- 5:26these shows. So that's at the link in the
- 5:28bio. Check out our local community.
- 5:30Hope you guys join in. I hope I see that.
- 5:31I hope I see you guys there. Hi, Robert, thank you.
- 5:36So that's how I hope you are well.
- 5:38And my wife and I have six children.
- 5:40They're all thankful for your work and purpose.
- 5:41Thank you so much. You guys are always so kind,
- 5:45Ashton saying thank you. Thank you for the encouragement.
- 5:47That's a great way to start alive with all that
- 5:49encouragement. All right, let's start with the
- 5:51first topic today on spiritual leadership.
- 5:53So we have talked in the podcast before about the roles of women
- 5:58and men. We've talked about obviously
- 6:00spirituality a lot in faith and but I think we've only scratched
- 6:03the surface. There's so much more that can be
- 6:05said about how we should live, live together in in a marriage,
- 6:09how that, what that looks like for a man and a woman to come
- 6:12together and be not just married in a beautiful marriage, but to
- 6:16grow together towards heaven. And I've, I'm a newlywed ish.
- 6:21You know, I'm five years in. I am not an expert on marriage
- 6:25from experience because I'm only five years in, but I've spent my
- 6:2920s and I have deeply been inspired by the writings and the
- 6:35examples and the wisdom of other people.
- 6:38And then of course, there's what God says about marriage and God
- 6:41says about men and women in a marriage and leadership and
- 6:46spirituality. And so I want to go there.
- 6:48And the reason I'm talking about this right now is because I
- 6:51think it's a common question that comes up in dating when
- 6:55people are looking for a spouse. How should I value, what should
- 6:59I value when it comes to spirituality?
- 7:01Obviously you want someone, a person of faith, a person of
- 7:04principles, a person of goodwill, you want someone that
- 7:07you can fall in love with. But what should you be looking
- 7:10for in terms of a husband? Do you want a spiritual leader?
- 7:14What does it mean to want a spiritual leader if you're a
- 7:16woman in a husband? And for men listening, what does
- 7:19that mean for them to be a spiritual leader?
- 7:21Does that mean the woman never does any spiritual leadership
- 7:23and she's just sort of like being passive in that
- 7:27arrangement? No, I don't think so.
- 7:28We're going to get into that. And then there's a lot of, I
- 7:31think, dating advice on the Internet and, you know, in the
- 7:33podcast space, and there was a very viral clip recently about a
- 7:37young woman expressing her desire for a spiritual leader.
- 7:40We're going to watch that and unpack that as well.
- 7:42But I want to start with what Scripture says because that
- 7:44really is core to understanding as Christians what it means,
- 7:49what spiritual leadership is. And I first want to start with
- 7:53the ultimate example of the spiritual leader, who is, of
- 7:56course, Jesus Christ our Lord. And how did he live out his
- 8:00spiritual leadership? Obviously, he was a teacher, he
- 8:03was a preacher, he was a healer, but most importantly, he is God
- 8:06the Savior, and he literally gave up his life for us.
- 8:10So I think a core principle for anybody who wants to be a
- 8:13leader, period, and that's a spiritual leader included, of
- 8:17course, is that they are willing to give themselves up for the
- 8:20person that they are leading, whom they are actually serving.
- 8:24And Jesus Christ, of course, our Lord, is that example of that
- 8:27perfect leadership, which is sacrificial leadership, even to
- 8:31the point of death for the sake of his sheep, for the sake of
- 8:34us, the people that he's leading.
- 8:36So anybody who wants to be a leader, that means the first
- 8:39shall be last, right? You want to be the person who's
- 8:41serving as, as the core expression of your leadership,
- 8:44you're serving the, the souls and the welfare of the people
- 8:48that you are in leadership of. So that's very important because
- 8:52I think there's, there's, you know, demonstrations of
- 8:55leadership in today's world where it's more dictatorial.
- 8:59I mean, they are not loving sacrificial leaders.
- 9:02They are strong men who are abusing and misusing their
- 9:05people. And this can happen in a
- 9:06marriage, this can happen in a business, this can happen in
- 9:09government. And that is not true leadership,
- 9:12right? That's certainly not Christian
- 9:13leadership. That is actually a, a
- 9:16destruction of authentic leadership.
- 9:19So I wanted to start with that, that the principle of the
- 9:21leadership is that it's someone who is exerting themselves and
- 9:26has an authority in their exertion.
- 9:28So they are in a position of authority for the sake of the
- 9:33welfare of the people that they are leaders of.
- 9:36They're not dictators. They're not masters and slave,
- 9:40you know, slave masters. And in the negative sense, they
- 9:42are the, they are the servants who are actually guiding these
- 9:46people to heaven ultimately and to who they're created to be.
- 9:50So let's start with that, but let's go to what scripture says.
- 9:52I'm going to start with Second Corinthians 614.
- 9:56This is something that has been, I think, commonly quoted.
- 10:01I've heard this quoted. So I grew up evangelicals, you
- 10:03guys know, and I've heard this frequently, I think in maybe
- 10:07that's not Bible studies, but church in the context of like
- 10:10this is what you're looking for in a spouse, the idea of being
- 10:13equally yoked. And I think there's a lot of
- 10:15truth to this concept, but I want to unpack it a little bit.
- 10:17So let's go to the quote or the, the the verse.
- 10:20Second Corinthians 614 says do not be unequally yoked with
- 10:24unbelievers. You can also have a a
- 10:31translation of this that says matched or you know, matched
- 10:34with an unbeliever. So this is where people think
- 10:36it's can be referring to marriage.
- 10:37Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers for what partnership
- 10:41has righteousness with lawlessness or what fellowship
- 10:43has light with darkness. So you've heard this thing about
- 10:47be equally yoked. You know, if you're too oxen,
- 10:49you're have your yoke on and you're pulling a cart and you're
- 10:53not equally yoked. 1 oxen is slowing the other guy down.
- 10:56It's going to be a pain to pull that cart.
- 10:58You can't really get your work done.
- 10:59That's the that's the image this evokes.
- 11:01And there's a lot of truth to that.
- 11:03And it certainly can apply to marriage.
- 11:04You want someone who's going to pull their weight, so to speak,
- 11:07morally, spiritually. You want someone who can be a
- 11:11partner with you in your journey to heaven and to virtue and in
- 11:16service of others in your future family, your kids.
- 11:18You want a partner, a true partner, fellow oxen or ox
- 11:22pulling that load with you, right?
- 11:24So there is absolute truth to that.
- 11:25And I think this is true in business.
- 11:27I think this is true in general in life and, you know, deep
- 11:29friendship. You want someone who can be a
- 11:31match for you. I think what that looks like
- 11:34when you unpack it in terms of OK, well, do they have to?
- 11:36If I'm a Catholic, do they have to be Catholic, right?
- 11:38If I'm, you know, I am, I'm someone who prays an hour a day.
- 11:41Do I need someone who prays an hour a day?
- 11:43There's a lot of a, a lot of questions that can arise and I
- 11:46think generally speaking, I would encourage everyone to
- 11:50marry the person you know. Yes, if you're Catholic, you
- 11:52should marry someone practicing their Catholic faith and you are
- 11:55you have to marry someone who's willing to raise your kids
- 11:57Catholic. That is actually a as something
- 12:00you have to do as a Catholic and someone who's going to support
- 12:03you going to mass and fulfilling your obligations to God as a
- 12:07Catholic. And I think any Christian ever,
- 12:09any evangelical should want somebody who is passionately
- 12:13aligned with their values and wants to seek after God.
- 12:17But the spirituality, how that's done can look very different.
- 12:20I'm going to unpack that more in a moment, but and set that
- 12:22aside. I'm going to go to go to the
- 12:24next verse. So this is from where is this
- 12:28from? Let's see, this is Ephesians, I
- 12:30believe Ephesians 5, and it says the Christian household.
- 12:33OK, be subject to one another. Ephesians 521 be subject to one
- 12:37another out of reverence for Christ.
- 12:40Wives, be subject to your husband as to the Lord, for the
- 12:44husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the
- 12:46church, his body, and is Himself its Savior.
- 12:49So right there, clear as day, you see spiritual headship.
- 12:53Your husband is the head, just like Christ is the head of the
- 12:56church, as the church is subject to the wife or to the Christ.
- 12:59Excuse me, As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives
- 13:03also be subject in everything to their husbands.
- 13:07I mean, that's a hard pill to swallow for a lot of feminists
- 13:10today, right? I'm subject to my husband.
- 13:12What does that even mean? We'll unpack.
- 13:13It goes on. Husbands, love your wives as
- 13:16Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he
- 13:20might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of
- 13:22water with the Word, that he might be present, that he might
- 13:25present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or
- 13:28wrinkle or any such thing, and that she might be holy and
- 13:30without blemish. Even so, husbands should love
- 13:33their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves
- 13:36himself, for no man ever hated his own flesh.
- 13:40And it goes on to say, for this reason a man shall leave his
- 13:42mother and father and be joined to his wife, and the two shall
- 13:44become one flesh. This is a profound mystery.
- 13:47It refers to Christ and the Church.
- 13:50Let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the
- 13:52wife see that she respects her husband.
- 13:54So there's a clear delineation here that there is a mutual
- 13:57subject subject being subject to one another in Christ.
- 14:01That's the first line. Be subject to one another out of
- 14:03reverence for Christ. There's a mutual sharing of 1's
- 14:06bodies. Obviously your spirituality,
- 14:08your heart, body, mind, soul, You are one flesh.
- 14:11You leave and cleave. Leave your parents and
- 14:13especially since a man leaves his parents and cleaves to his
- 14:15wife, but the but the husband is the head of the wife.
- 14:19He is the spiritual head of the wife and in premarital
- 14:23counseling when I was getting preparing to get married to my
- 14:25husband, who I am extremely grateful for increasingly as I'm
- 14:29married because he is the best. I mean, he's someone that I can
- 14:33submit myself to, I can listen to.
- 14:36I want to, you know, obey in that sense of not that he's like
- 14:40lording over me, but that he's someone that I trust and he is a
- 14:43man of virtue and character. He's not perfect.
- 14:45I'm not perfect, but he's someone striving for excellence
- 14:48every day, working hard towards that.
- 14:50That is a huge blessing to me. I know that is a privilege that
- 14:53I have as a wife to be married to him.
- 14:55And in our premarital counseling, the you know, the
- 14:59the the way that this was unpacked for us, which I thought
- 15:02was really prudent was listen, this isn't again, some dictator
- 15:06husband, you know, calling the shots every day for the wife and
- 15:08ordering her around. This is a servant leader husband
- 15:12and in very challenging moments are in really big decisions in
- 15:17all things. The spouses should work together
- 15:20and hear each other out and go deep and really hear each
- 15:23other's concerns and husband and wife together.
- 15:25And that wife will have great wisdom at times and the husband
- 15:27will have wisdom at other times. But that when there needs, when
- 15:31there might be a disagreement about a final call to make about
- 15:34a big decision, right? That in that sense, in those
- 15:39rare cases where there really is this real disagreement that
- 15:42they've spent a lot of time praying through and
- 15:44collaborating on, they can't come to a full agreement, then
- 15:47it is good for the husband to be the tiebreaker.
- 15:50And yes, maybe part of his way to be a tiebreaker is to say,
- 15:54listen, I know that I want it this way, but out of love for
- 15:57you, I'm going to go your way. And that's the way he chooses to
- 16:00break the tie in terms of their disagreement on this, you know,
- 16:02significant matter. And that would be servant
- 16:05leadership in a sign of love. If he chooses to do that, right?
- 16:07Or maybe he feels convicted, he has to go lead this in this
- 16:10direction. But that in that moment, it is,
- 16:13I think the Christian thing for the woman to say, yes, yes, I,
- 16:16I, I, I, you know, I, I know we disagree.
- 16:19We've, we've heard me out, we flushed this out, we've prayed
- 16:21about it, we've gotten counsel, whatever.
- 16:23And I, I go your way in the end because you are my husband and
- 16:26God has given you the grace as my husband to lead.
- 16:30Now, if you are married, unfortunately to someone who's
- 16:32become abusive towards you or there's been some horrible
- 16:35things happen, you know, after the fact of marriage, which
- 16:38again, these are stories you hear all the time.
- 16:40Maybe someone listening knows this story or they live the
- 16:43story. There's different, there's a
- 16:45different ball game, right? You're dealing with someone who
- 16:48you may need to legally separate from to protect yourself or your
- 16:51children. That's a different question I'm
- 16:53dealing with right now. Men of goodwill, imperfect men
- 16:57of goodwill in a marriage, imperfect women of goodwill who
- 16:58are working things out. OK, That's what this advice is
- 17:01for in this in this, I believe this Bible verse is for all
- 17:04right. So I want to do one more Bible
- 17:07verse here, and this is from where is this Timothy?
- 17:11This is Timothy. OK, I'm like, where did I know?
- 17:14I've heard the verse. But first is it's first Timothy
- 17:173, the qualifications of bishops.
- 17:19This is important because I think it helps understand the
- 17:23longing of some Christian women to want a certain kind of
- 17:26spiritual man. And I'm going to read what it
- 17:27says. It says.
- 17:30The saying is sure, if anyone aspires to the office of Bishop,
- 17:35he desires a noble task. Now a Bishop must be above
- 17:38reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible,
- 17:43dignified, hospitable, an apartment teacher, no drunkard,
- 17:48not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and no lover of
- 17:52money. He must manage his household
- 17:54well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in
- 17:57every way. For if a man does not know how
- 18:00to manage his own household or he a household, how can he care
- 18:03for God's church? He must not be a recent convert.
- 18:07He or he may be puffed up with conceit and fall into the
- 18:09condemnation of the devil. Moreover, he must be well
- 18:12thought of by outsiders, or he may fall into reproach and the
- 18:15snare of the devil. And then it goes on to Deacon
- 18:18saying, deacons must be serious, not double tongued, not addicted
- 18:21to too much wine, not greedy for gain.
- 18:24They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear
- 18:25conscience. Onward, OK.
- 18:27And then it says the women likewise must be serious, not
- 18:31slanderers, but temperate, faithful in all things.
- 18:34Deacons also should be husband of one life.
- 18:36What if life and manage their children and households well,
- 18:41etcetera. So it's talking about leadership
- 18:43in the church. Now, obviously there are leaders
- 18:47in the Church who are married and in the Catholic Church
- 18:49there's leaders who are celibate, many of them which are
- 18:51priests, right? You can actually be a Bishop and
- 18:54be married. It is possible that means not
- 18:57that you're a priest and you're married, but you can be elevated
- 18:59in the church and leadership to some of these positions.
- 19:02And I believe be married. Fact Check me if I'm wrong on
- 19:06that. But I've heard it said that
- 19:08especially if you're coming from a different faith tradition
- 19:11where you are within the Catholic under, under the
- 19:15papacy, but you are, maybe you were married as an, you're an
- 19:19Anglican priest and you were married and then you become
- 19:21Catholic. And that's still the line of the
- 19:25still the line of Apostolic succession, meaning you are,
- 19:27you're, you're not in obedience to Rome and as an Anglican, but
- 19:30you were when you became a priest, you still had the actual
- 19:34grace of becoming a actual priest and now you're in
- 19:37obedience, but you still could be married.
- 19:38So anyways, that's not really an important aside, except to say
- 19:42that's why it's talking about wives here.
- 19:44And then Deacon certainly can have wives in the Catholic
- 19:47Church too. And then certainly in Protestant
- 19:49denominations, etcetera. You know, pastors have wives,
- 19:52etcetera. So, but here it has very
- 19:54specific things to say about spiritual leadership and what
- 19:57that practically looks like, right?
- 20:00And it says things like you've got to be serious and not double
- 20:04tongued. You have to manage your
- 20:05household. Well, you have to be, if you
- 20:09scroll up, actually Franco for me, let's go up for all of us.
- 20:12You know you have to not be a lover of money, not
- 20:15materialistic, dignified, temperate, sensible, a teacher.
- 20:22Not violent, but gentle. I mean, these are really
- 20:25beautiful. These are really beautiful
- 20:27qualifications that it's presenting as what signs of
- 20:31spiritual leadership look like. All right, let's go now to what
- 20:36does this mean for everyday people or for us who are married
- 20:40or dating or wanting to date and trying to sort out a spouse?
- 20:44There is a clip I want to show you from a podcast that I found
- 20:47out about recently. It's become really viral.
- 20:50A lot of clips from it called Girls Gone Bible.
- 20:52And there's these two women who talk with each other.
- 20:54They're dear friends about spiritual things, which I think
- 20:57is beautiful. Anyways, hopefully I'll meet
- 20:59them at some point. I think they're doing some
- 21:00beautiful things. But one of the ladies shared her
- 21:03heart about what she's looking for in a spouse.
- 21:05This clip went viral and it got some pushback as well as praise
- 21:09from people of varying opinion. So let's watch the clip.
- 21:18OK, let me know if you guys can hear this one.
- 21:20Thing somebody asked Do you guys know why you're single?
- 21:23And I'll speak for myself. I know exactly why I'm single
- 21:26because I've never dated a guy. My God would have.
- 21:29Approved for me not to say. Let me clarify and say that I've
- 21:33actually only dated great men. I have a great picker.
- 21:36I've only dated really wonderful guys, Good people to their core.
- 21:39Obviously not perfect and clearly not from me, because we
- 21:42would be together if that was the case.
- 21:44But like good, good people. But never somebody who's further
- 21:47along in their faith than I am. Yeah.
- 21:49And I know without a shadow of a doubt that the person God has
- 21:53for me is like so far along in their faith than I am.
- 21:56And I have such a desire, like a true, a yearning to be LED
- 22:02spiritually. I just want to sit and look up
- 22:05at a man talking to me about theology and I'll be so happy,
- 22:10you know what I mean? And so I, there's always been
- 22:13unfortunately, not in like an insulting way, but there's like
- 22:16a, there's a level of respect that I'll have for the person
- 22:20that I'm with when that's the case.
- 22:21And I've never experienced that. You know what it is.
- 22:26OK, so I love the spirit behind what she's saying because she's
- 22:30just expressing her heart for what she wants in a husband.
- 22:33I mean, and she wants a man of spiritual, a spiritual leader.
- 22:37The reason she got some pushback, which I can also
- 22:40understand, is people were saying, well, you're saying
- 22:43basically a spiritual leader. Well, first of all, she sort of
- 22:45saying the guy she dated before we're not spiritual enough.
- 22:49And a spiritual leader to her is someone in part that she can sit
- 22:51down at the feet of and listen to them talk theology, right.
- 22:55And by the way, she may very well be called to that to to
- 22:57marry someone who's like a preacher, like a theologically
- 23:02very well versed man whose job is to help teach other people.
- 23:06That's maybe his profession in addition to him being a husband
- 23:10and a father, you know. So I think that could be
- 23:12beautiful and sounds like something that she desires in
- 23:14her heart. And so I hope the best for her
- 23:16and that she can find that that's God's will for her life.
- 23:19Not every Christian woman is called to marry a preacher.
- 23:22Not every Christian woman is going to be called to marry a
- 23:24man who is really well versed in theology.
- 23:27And that is not the marker of spiritual maturity.
- 23:30And I think that's an important point.
- 23:31And that's where somebody, some people in the comment section
- 23:33were like, this is not, this is not necessarily spiritual
- 23:36leadership. And you're, you're setting up
- 23:37the wrong expectations for women.
- 23:39I do think we take things too personally all the time on the
- 23:42Internet. Someone shares what they want or
- 23:44what their hopes are and people judge them and say, well, that's
- 23:47not right. That's not for everyone.
- 23:49Of course, it's not for everyone.
- 23:50That person was sharing what they hoped for or what they
- 23:53liked or what their dream was. And that doesn't mean it has to
- 23:56be everyone. So I think first, to give Girls
- 23:59Gone Bible credit, they're not saying this is necessary for
- 24:02everyone. She's sharing her own heart's
- 24:04desire, which again, I think is beautiful.
- 24:06But I do think it does exist in the Christian and even the the
- 24:11evangelical and Catholic worlds. There does exist this temptation
- 24:15at times, I think, for some girls who are very spiritual and
- 24:20very much into their faith to have maybe a bit of an idol when
- 24:24it comes to their idea of what spiritual leadership looks like
- 24:28in a man. And the expectations that they
- 24:30have are not necessarily good. And what I mean by that is maybe
- 24:34they pray the holy hour every day, or they, you know, they
- 24:36praise and worship every day for an hour or whatever their prayer
- 24:39practice is. And they expect that that is how
- 24:42their husband should and will be.
- 24:44And they look for that. And they look for these
- 24:46manifestations of spirituality that maybe they themselves have,
- 24:51but they think need to be exist in their spouse.
- 24:54Therefore that spiritual leadership looks like a man who
- 24:57prays for an hour a day or who does praise and worship really,
- 25:02you know, emotionally or someone who is really charismatic and
- 25:06says they hear from God all the time.
- 25:07That someone who's always reading theology books,
- 25:09whatever, right? None of those things are bad.
- 25:11All of those things can be really beautiful and good, but
- 25:14that does not define spiritual leadership.
- 25:16You saw how Scripture define spiritual leadership.
- 25:20Jesus Christ lay down his life and you saw how they defined it
- 25:23for a Bishop and for a Deacon. And that is not even necessarily
- 25:27for everyone anyways. And we also see that spiritual
- 25:30leadership has a lot to do with love and service and virtue and
- 25:36not necessarily these other aspects of spirituality that we
- 25:39can value some of us more than others.
- 25:43So I want to show next a quote from a young woman on Instagram
- 25:48that I thought was really wise. Let's pull up Annalise.
- 25:51OK, so here's an account that I found recently.
- 25:54She is on Twitter and Instagram. She's a young married mother and
- 25:59she writes about femininity. She says some really beautiful
- 26:02things. She wrote this, I believe it was
- 26:05in response to Girls Gone Bible indirectly, but I thought she
- 26:08made some good points and I wanted to read it.
- 26:10She says now being married 5 plus years, I can tell you that
- 26:15marrying a man who can talk theology with with is one of the
- 26:19least important things to me. So she's saying I don't really
- 26:23care so much if you talk theology to me or with me.
- 26:26Men that can talk theology eloquently even are everywhere.
- 26:31OK, maybe not everywhere, but definitely there's men who talk
- 26:34theology and that doesn't necessarily mean they're they're
- 26:36good men. You know the devil can talk
- 26:38theology, right? How does he respond to conflict?
- 26:42What is his relationship towards his emotions?
- 26:44Does he treat you like a woman? These questions affect your life
- 26:47far more than how well read he is.
- 26:49And then I think there was another side.
- 26:51And she says, I can confidently say that my idea of what it
- 26:54means to be LED spiritually has done a 180 since actually being
- 26:58married. I'm not downplaying the
- 27:00importance of theology. Hear me out.
- 27:02You have endless books and resources at your disposal.
- 27:04Your husband doesn't need to be a Spurgeon.
- 27:06So she's, I think, Protestant evangelical.
- 27:08She's talking about Charles Spurgeon, who is a famous, I
- 27:12think, preacher and teacher from the 19th century.
- 27:15I believe to be mature in the faith.
- 27:17If he's humble, works hard, prioritizes duty over comfort,
- 27:21and cares for the people in his life, you've got a spiritual
- 27:24leader. Bingo on the last line,
- 27:26Annalise. If he's humble, works hard,
- 27:28prioritizes duty over comfort, and cares for the people in his
- 27:31life, you've got a spiritual leader.
- 27:33Now I will say that you need to anybody needs to, man or woman,
- 27:40depending on no matter their personalities, needs to take
- 27:44time for prayer. And it is possible for a man to
- 27:48be a very virtuous Goodman who struggles with taking time for
- 27:52prayer. And that's where that doesn't
- 27:54mean he's not a spiritual leader because spirit is more than
- 27:57prayer. You know, it's how we live our
- 27:58work is prayer, how we love is prayer.
- 28:01You know, our whole life should be prayer.
- 28:03But you we don't want to downplay the power of prayer and
- 28:05the importance of taking time for prayer and theological
- 28:07study. But again, that is not a certain
- 28:11amount of that or certain appearance of that doesn't mean
- 28:13the prerequisite for a spiritual leader in a marriage.
- 28:17So I'll just end here with my final take on this and and some
- 28:20personal a personal take too. When Joe and I got married, I
- 28:25was most drawn to his virtue, his intellect, his values,
- 28:31obviously very attracted all of these things.
- 28:34And he certainly had profound respect and devotion for God and
- 28:39for for our faith. How he lived it out looked
- 28:42different than me when we got married.
- 28:44It looks different today, although we've gotten more
- 28:45similar as we've been married. But my prayer practices were not
- 28:50his. He had different prayer
- 28:51practices than me. And, you know, you could say
- 28:54technically, because I at the time, I think I was doing a holy
- 28:56hour a day. And, you know, I had a certain
- 28:57prayer practice as a, as a single woman at the time who
- 29:00didn't have kids yet and, and other, the other things I do
- 29:03now. So my prayer has changed.
- 29:05But at the time, you know, if you added up the amount of
- 29:08physical time he spent, like in prayer, it might have been less
- 29:12than me. And I remember at one point I
- 29:14was thinking about that, right? We were preparing to get married
- 29:17and I was like, Oh gosh, is this that, you know, is this an
- 29:20issue? Like what does it mean that I'm
- 29:22being I'm in some sense praying more now.
- 29:25He was probably praying more than me because he's such a good
- 29:27person and just living his day. But again, like that, this idea
- 29:31of like, and it can be hyper spiritualize of sitting down in
- 29:34prayer before God and, you know, doing a holy hour of doing
- 29:37adoration. This was this is very beautiful.
- 29:40It is a good thing. And so I remember talking to a
- 29:42spiritual guide, a director, and they reminded me again, and I
- 29:48knew this was true, that you are not, we are not in a marriage
- 29:53called to, you know, look, it's not good.
- 29:56So much for us to demand, hey, they live out their spirituality
- 29:59the way we do. They live out their devotion to
- 30:02God the way they do. We must have profound respect
- 30:05for the way they relate to God because people relate to God
- 30:07differently and there's different kinds of
- 30:10spiritualities. And that the core that we're
- 30:12looking for in a marriage is, is this someone who is a leader in
- 30:16the sense of their sacrifice, their virtue, their work, and
- 30:21their love. And so that would be my final
- 30:23advice to the ladies listening that you are good to want
- 30:30spiritual leadership. It's good to want that, that you
- 30:32should try to be take, take leadership of yourself in terms
- 30:38of want to be the best you can be and make time for prayer in
- 30:42your own life. You know, don't expect someone
- 30:44else to do the work for you is what I'm saying.
- 30:45But in a marriage, yes, you want someone that you can respect
- 30:49their faith and their values so much that what if there's a
- 30:54tiebreaker decision to be made? If there's a tiebreaker moment
- 30:57where they need to, someone needs to call the shot and it
- 31:00should be the husband that you can in peace submit to that, say
- 31:04yes, I trust you and I respect you and I will go your way and I
- 31:09know God will bless that. So that's the final advice
- 31:12there. Hope that was helpful.
- 31:13I do think this is a very important topic.
- 31:15And so please, you know, send me your thoughts on it.
- 31:18I'd love to hear them. Don't be afraid of marriage.
- 31:21Don't be afraid of men, women listening.
- 31:24There are very good men in the world there, of course, a lot of
- 31:28people who've been hurt, but there are such good men in the
- 31:30world. And the that good man won't
- 31:33necessarily look like, doesn't need to look like some
- 31:37theologically impressive preacher to be the spiritual
- 31:42leader that you need. Maybe you're called to be with
- 31:45that preacher guy, and that's beautiful too.
- 31:48Keep discerning it, keep exploring it.
- 31:50God will guide you. OK, we're going to go now to
- 31:54Taylor Swift. What a great next thing to talk
- 31:58about after spiritual leadership.
- 31:59She's dating someone, Travis Kelsey.
- 32:01Is he a spiritual leader? We're not really going to
- 32:03psychoanalyze that one. I don't know.
- 32:05My understanding is he's not necessarily living a faith, but
- 32:09maybe he is. I'm not going to even make up
- 32:12opinions about that because I don't know.
- 32:13But we have some opinions about whether or not Taylor Swift is a
- 32:16psyop because that's the question in hand.
- 32:18Before we go to that, I need to thank our sponsor, 7 Weeks

- 33:04All right, Taylor Swift, is she a psyop?
- 33:08Have you guys seen this story? This has been this has been
- 33:13making the rounds on Twitter, both left and right wing
- 33:17Twitter, mind you are XI should say and Taylor Swift has been in
- 33:22the news constantly. She is dating Travis Kelsey, who
- 33:26I believe is the tight end. I'm going to be embarrassingly
- 33:29wrong here because I am not the biggest football fan, but he is
- 33:32on the team for the Kansas City Chiefs and he is going to the
- 33:36Super Bowl this Sunday. As you guys know, I think
- 33:39against the 49ers, which is my team or should be my team, I'm
- 33:42from the San Francisco Bay Area. I might be going for the Kansas
- 33:46City Chiefs. So like cheering for them in
- 33:49part because Harrison Butker, a Catholic guy who's a wonderful
- 33:53guy, is on the Kansas City Chiefs as well.
- 33:56And I think that's super cool. And I know some of the owners of
- 33:59the Kansas City Chiefs who are pro-life.
- 34:00So I think there's just like a lot of cool things happening
- 34:02with the Kansas City Chiefs. All right, So what we're going
- 34:06to do is, first of all, what is a psyop?
- 34:08What is a psyop? Psychological operations are to
- 34:12convey selected information and indicators to audiences to
- 34:16influence their motives and objective reasoning.
- 34:19So basically the government or these big corporations are
- 34:22controlling the narratives in order to get people to vote or
- 34:28behave a certain way. And so they use people like
- 34:31celebrities in special conspiracies to control
- 34:35populations. Right?
- 34:36That's the idea here. OK, so is she as high up?
- 34:41Let's pull up this headline. This is so funny.
- 34:44Where is the and the reason people are saying that sorry
- 34:47for? We want to make sure we give the
- 34:49context here. She endorsed Joe Biden in the
- 34:52last election. Joe Biden won.
- 34:54She is now dating a huge football star and she's headline
- 34:58news and she has so much influence.
- 34:59She's obviously this wildly talented singer.
- 35:02And so the idea is she is positioning herself by dating
- 35:06this football star to be even more influential for more sort
- 35:09of like middle America. So not just like chicks, but
- 35:12like football dudes. And that means she has more
- 35:15control over the way people vote.
- 35:17And therefore, if she comes out for Biden again, Biden's going
- 35:20to win. And so this is a plan.
- 35:22This is a plan all along. OK, let's this is a video here
- 35:26or let's go to the tweet actually.
- 35:28So there's a tweet here that let's pull that tweet up.
- 35:33OK, so here's a commentator saying Mike Cripple, I think is
- 35:38his name. And he says Chris Bill crispy
- 35:42crispy, Mike Crispy. And he says the NFL is totally
- 35:45rigged for the Kansas City Chiefs, Taylor Swift, Mr.
- 35:48Pfizer, Travis Kelce, all to spread Democrat propaganda.
- 35:53Calling it now, Casey wins, goes to Super Bowl.
- 35:55He's right. That didn't happen.
- 35:57Swift comes out at the halftime show and endorses Joe Biden with
- 36:00Kelsey at midfield. It's been an op since day one.
- 36:06All right, well, some of that has already come true.
- 36:09So this, it's so funny here because, yeah, of course, Travis
- 36:16Kelsey has gone to the Super Bowl.
- 36:18But this whole idea that Taylor Swift shows up and then endorses
- 36:20Joe Biden on the field, I don't think that's going to happen.
- 36:22But who knows? She did endorse Biden before.
- 36:27There's another article out. Let's go to the next one from or
- 36:32the Joy Reid clip. Actually, there's another clip
- 36:34we want to show here. So the very left wing
- 36:38commentator Joy Reid is saying here that Taylor Swift, this is
- 36:43the actually the tweet. So this is the Post Millennial,
- 36:45which is a right wing conservative news source, and it
- 36:48says Joy Reid explains how Taylor Swift has been a Democrat
- 36:52operative since 2018. Then she gets triggered by Jack
- 36:55Prostebiak saying that she's a Democrat operative.
- 36:58I know Jack, he's hilarious and very talented, and he has
- 37:01tweeted this saying that Taylor Swift is a psyop.
- 37:04OK, so in one sense they're right that yes, Taylor Swift
- 37:08wields a lot of influence and I'm sure the Democrats around
- 37:10her love it and she'll probably come out for bite in this
- 37:12election. Let's just get real about that.
- 37:14Those things are all true. That doesn't mean it's a big
- 37:16conspiracy. It just means that a lot of
- 37:18people in entertainment are Democrat and left wing and they
- 37:22choose to use their platforms to promote their values, which are
- 37:25unfortunately are opposed to the things that we know to be true.
- 37:27Like they're pro abortion, their anti marriage, etcetera,
- 37:31etcetera. The Pfizer things interesting.
- 37:33Meaning Travis Kelsey is very pro vaccine and that's also
- 37:37around a lot of people, understandably so because of the
- 37:39vaccine mandates. That's another aspect to this.
- 37:42I actually am happy to see Taylor Swift seem happy with
- 37:47someone that she could marry named Travis Kelsey.
- 37:49I think she's 34 years old. I think she wants to get married
- 37:52from what I understand. And I hope it works out for them
- 37:55and I hope that they can grow in virtue together and actually
- 37:57build a family together. I think that would do a lot of
- 37:59good for people to watch their idol, Taylor Swift, their
- 38:02musical inspiration, Not just be single her whole life, dating
- 38:07guys and breaking up with them and dating guys and breaking up
- 38:09with them, but actually getting married and building a family.
- 38:11That would be a beautiful example and encouragement to
- 38:13other women. So I do hope it happens for her
- 38:16sake and the sake of the people that look to her.
- 38:19Do I agree with her views on abortion or think that she is a
- 38:23good role model holistically for women?
- 38:25No, I do not. I do not.
- 38:28And you know, I was really sad to see when Roe V.
- 38:31Wade was overturned in 2022. Taylor Swift come out who rarely
- 38:35says put the political things. That's one of the reasons people
- 38:37like her, by the way, is that she kind of stays above the fray
- 38:39on this stuff typically. But she came out and she said,
- 38:43I'm absolutely terrified this was on Twitter or on X.
- 38:46She says, I'm absolutely terrified that this is where we
- 38:49are, that after so many decades of people fighting for women's
- 38:53rights to their own bodies, today's decision has stripped us
- 38:56of that. So she's criticizing the
- 38:59overturning of Roe and saying she's actually terrified.
- 39:03Very dramatic. And she's, quote, tweeting
- 39:06Michelle Obama's statement where she says, I'm heartbroken.
- 39:12We've lost a fundamental right to make decisions about our own
- 39:14bodies. No, you have not lost a single
- 39:18iota of a right to make a decision about your body.
- 39:22You have lost the right to kill the baby, the living body in
- 39:25your body if you're pregnant, which was never a right to begin
- 39:28with. I mean, the doublespeak here,
- 39:31the propaganda here is so mind blowing.
- 39:33And it's sad because I believe Michelle Obama, someone like a
- 39:35Taylor Swift, these are intelligent human beings.
- 39:37They would think they're intelligent, but they have
- 39:39bought this propaganda. They're they're they're spouting
- 39:42this propaganda that when you're pregnant, you are the, the
- 39:47property owner, you are the slave owner basically of the
- 39:50child within you and their body is your body that you can kill.
- 39:54You can literally kill. You know, it's one thing you
- 39:58would want, you wouldn't want someone to kill themselves.
- 40:00Why would you want them to kill their child?
- 40:02Even if that child was somehow their body and belong to them in
- 40:05that sense, why would you want them to kill them?
- 40:08And, and support a right to kill them.
- 40:10And yet, of course, that's what is happening here with Taylor
- 40:13Swift statement and Michelle Obama's statement.
- 40:15So I don't, you know, I, I don't think it's good to idolize
- 40:19Taylor Swift. I get a little uncomfortable
- 40:23when I see, you know, 10 year old girls singing her songs and
- 40:27wanting to buy all of her paraphernalia and her apparel.
- 40:30And she, they're like Taylor swifting themselves out because
- 40:34she is not someone who lives the values or speaks the values that
- 40:39I think lead to human flourishing and happiness.
- 40:41And she believes some very toxic things.
- 40:44She is very talented, obviously, as a singer and an artist.
- 40:49And she, I think in some aspects of her behavior is a good
- 40:53example. I think she seems to be fair in
- 40:54her business dealings from what I see.
- 40:56And I think she seems to work really hard.
- 40:59I mean, there's some good virtues there.
- 41:03I mean, it makes me think I'm having a daughter In 2-3 months,
- 41:06we're going to bring our first daughter into the world.
- 41:09And I mean, she's in the world already, but she's going to be
- 41:12born. And I wonder about her
- 41:15influences. Who will her role models be?
- 41:18Who will her inspirations be? Would I be bothered if she
- 41:22listens to Taylor Swift? Of course not.
- 41:24Would it concern me if she became obsessed with Taylor
- 41:27Swift and wanted to be Taylor Swift?
- 41:28Yeah, it would. I think that's, I think what
- 41:32this speaks to is a larger issue about how we engage with pop
- 41:37culture in our culture, which is that we look up to entertainers,
- 41:42people that entertain and we want to be them or we want to be
- 41:48like them or we want to do what they tell us to do.
- 41:51And I think that's dangerous because unless they're people
- 41:55that are living good lives themselves and are trustworthy
- 41:58and teaching good things, we should not be taking their
- 42:01advice. No, we should not.
- 42:03And unfortunately, a lot of people in entertainment don't
- 42:06fit that bill. They do not fit that standard of
- 42:08people that we could actually, we should actually live like.
- 42:12So that is a concern I have just largely speaking, I understand.
- 42:16I get it why people idolize entertainers.
- 42:20And I think it it speaks to a formation crisis that we have
- 42:25where people don't have good role models in their own life
- 42:28and they struggled in their own life with how to be.
- 42:31And so they're attracted to these celebrities, right?
- 42:34All right, there was one more thing I want to say about Taylor
- 42:37Swift, actually, which on the positive note about her and
- 42:40Travis Kelsey is that there is a very wholesome representation of
- 42:45family life coming from Travis, Kelsey's older brother.
- 42:47Actually, I wanted to share this.
- 42:48This is actually an ad that he, his older brother, and the older
- 42:52brother's wife were in with their beautiful young family.
- 42:55And I thought it was really cute.
- 42:57And I thought, again, if this is the route Taylor Swift goes, the
- 43:00more traditional route, you could say she gets married to
- 43:02Travis. They have children, they end up
- 43:04really building a family together.
- 43:06That in and of itself is a good, natural thing to do.
- 43:09That can be a good example. So that's where I would
- 43:12celebrate that. I tweeted recently, I hope it
- 43:14works out for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
- 43:16I got an unexpected amount of heat for that.
- 43:20People saying why would you? Why would you wish that She's
- 43:23pro abortion. I want good things for my
- 43:26enemies because good things can help them be good.
- 43:29So it's not that I don't want, you know, my political enemies
- 43:32or you could say our, our spiritual enemies in terms of
- 43:34their beliefs or their behaviors.
- 43:36So we want them to, we want them to live good lives and have
- 43:41access to good things in hopes that that will help them be
- 43:44better as it can help us be better.
- 43:47But God, of course, is sovereign.
- 43:48He will, he will figure that all out in his time.
- 43:50This is the ad this is called at home with the Kelsey family,
- 43:54Pottery Barn Kids. Let's just watch this and I
- 43:57don't think this will be at the Super Bowl.
- 43:58This was out recently though, so we can watch it.
- 44:04We can play it now. We're Jason and Kylie Kelsey and
- 44:07you guys are in our home. Welcome to our new playroom by
- 44:14Pottery Barn Kids. Family's everything.
- 44:17It's really important to have the space feel cozy and
- 44:20comfortable that people want to stay there.
- 44:23Pottery Barn Kids has always been my we are not.
- 44:25Sponsored by Pottery Memories. We should have.
- 44:28Gotten that for this episode we'll talk about.
- 44:29Later the same way, but there's these.
- 44:31Cute little girls, and they're in their homey homes for
- 44:34stopping by, all hanging out casually.
- 44:36And it's very sweet. And this is, I think his name is
- 44:40Jason Travis, Kelsey's older brother.
- 44:41And it's just a beautiful depiction of family life.
- 44:44I think we need more of that. It's good to see that in media.
- 44:48It reminds people what is healthy and good.
- 44:51So that's my hope for Taylor Swift, that she can find that,
- 44:55for Travis Kelsey, that they can find that.
- 44:58And my hope is that by being exposed to the good things in
- 45:03life, good people, people of faith, she and he can grow as
- 45:09people and they can come to see, especially her abortion for what
- 45:14it is, an evil act and she can reject it.
- 45:16She's just live in the propaganda, right?
- 45:18She can reject it. How amazing would it be if
- 45:22Taylor Swift, arguably the biggest female celebrity in the
- 45:25world, came out and said, no, I reject abortion.
- 45:29I'm super pro-life now. I mean, how amazing would that
- 45:32be? So pray for that.
- 45:34You can join me in praying for that.
- 45:36Prayers do work and if she tells you to vote for Joe Biden, say
- 45:41no. Just in case anyone is
- 45:45wondering. If she does come out for Joe
- 45:47Biden, which you probably will, don't be all shocked she did
- 45:50last last election. Then don't do it.
- 45:53I don't think Joe Biden is in any way the answer to our
- 45:57problems and he's created more and I'll explain that in a
- 46:00moment. You guys already know where I
- 46:02stand on this. Before we talk about Joe Biden,
- 46:04though, that's our last topic. President Biden and his latest
- 46:07statements, which you got to hear.
- 46:08You got to hear what he has to say on abortion and some of the
- 46:11stuff he's been saying. Hard to understand sometimes,
- 46:14but it's pretty dark stuff. I want to thank our last
- 46:18sponsor, which is Every Life. Every life.com is America's
- 46:22pro-life diaper Company. Wonderful products, great
- 46:25quality for your little one. They have ethically sourced
- 46:29materials. This is a better product than
- 46:31you're going to find it. Huggies or Pampers.
- 46:33And just as importantly, Huggies and Pampers support abortion and
- 46:37every life supports life. So they actually donate to
- 46:39pro-life companies. So stop buying from diaper
- 46:42companies that are actually actively working against the
- 46:45value of little ones and instead support and work with a diaper
- 46:49company that supports your values.
- 46:51Every life.com you can get great diapers and wipes other
- 46:54products. Increasingly, they're opening up
- 46:55their inventory to do more and more kinds of baby care

- 47:06some of your money is going to support the pro-life movement
- 47:09and know that you are supporting a pro-life company.
- 47:11So every life.com is the website and you can use the code Lila,
- 47:15you guessed it. Lila, check out for 10% off your
- 47:18order. All right, Joe Biden, President
- 47:21Biden, pray for him too, guys. Pray for all these people when
- 47:25we criticize them or talk about them on podcasts or read about
- 47:27them in news articles or scroll on, scroll about them on social
- 47:30media. Pray for them, pray for their
- 47:33conversion. Pray for our own conversions.
- 47:36All right, what did he have to say?
- 47:37He recently, this was like 2-3 days ago, he had this to say the
- 47:42president about Roe V Wade. Let's watch the clip.
- 47:47He's very critical of Trump right now.
- 47:48Biden, because Trump is the presumptive nominee.
- 47:51Haley will drop out soon enough, I'm sure.
- 47:53Nikki Haley, everyone else has pretty much dropped out.
- 47:56Trump seems to be the presumptive nominee.
- 47:58I have mixed feelings about that.
- 47:59As you guys know. We won't get into that right now
- 48:02on the show we'll talk about in the future.
- 48:03But he is the presumptive Republican nominee and he is
- 48:06certainly more pro-life than Joe Biden.
- 48:08So here's what President Biden has to say.
- 48:14I wrote Ron Trump about saying Biden's been abortion on demand.
- 48:18Not true. That's not what pro we would
- 48:21say. It's in the three trimesters.
- 48:24How it works. OK, so a little hard to hear
- 48:29what he's saying, I think, But he's saying, I love how Trump is
- 48:32saying Biden is for abortion on demand.
- 48:34That's not true. That's not what Roe V.
- 48:36Wade said. It said the three trimesters.
- 48:38OK, What does that even mean? OK, what's happening here is
- 48:42President Biden in his administration has been
- 48:44radically pro abortion. He supports abortion through all
- 48:47nine months. He wants to codify Roe V Wade.
- 48:50He wants taxpayers to fund it. He's against every abortion
- 48:52restriction. He wants to fund Planned
- 48:55Parenthood. Of course, that's a no brainer.
- 48:57Of course he does that. He wants to do that.
- 48:59And he regularly has this rhetoric about how.
- 49:02A. Republican who wants to have any
- 49:04abortion ban whatsoever is out to get women and is evil,
- 49:07basically. And so he's attacking Trump here
- 49:10because he's saying that Trump is saying that Democrats want
- 49:13abortion on demand. And Biden seems to have enough
- 49:16sense to know that most people don't like that most Americans
- 49:19want abortion restrictions of some kind or another.
- 49:24But Biden knows that's not him. I mean, his administration
- 49:27doesn't want any abortion restriction.
- 49:28So he's sort of trying to, he's creating confusion here as a
- 49:32politician to dodge Trump's accusation.
- 49:36So he's attacking Trump for the accusation to say that Biden
- 49:39wants abortion on demand. And then he's dodging it and
- 49:42saying that's not what Roe V. Wade said.
- 49:44It said the three trimesters now because Biden, I think,
- 49:49struggles sometimes to speak coherently as our leader, which
- 49:53is also very concerning. In a separate question that we
- 49:56could analyze, it's unclear what exactly he means here because it
- 50:01sounds like he could be saying, oh, I'm for abortion in all
- 50:05three trimesters. It's not so much about abortion
- 50:07on demand when you do what you want and have it in all three
- 50:10trimesters before he's kind of referring to the three trimester
- 50:14framework, which is really arbitrary that Roe V Wade
- 50:17effectively set up to say that in certain trimesters you can
- 50:20have abortion on demand. And in other trimesters like the
- 50:23third, you need a doctor's note basically, which by the way, is
- 50:27not a barrier to late term abortion because if your doctor
- 50:29is the abortionist who's profiting off of the abortion,
- 50:31he's going to give you the the dumb doctor's note to say you
- 50:34should have this abortion because you're feeling
- 50:36emotionally unwell about being pregnant.
- 50:38That is how it works. By the way, this whole thing
- 50:40about oh, late term abortions don't happen or won't happen
- 50:43because it have to be only extreme circumstances.
- 50:46Every single Democratic Democrat written law on abortion that
- 50:51says, oh, it's only in these certain circumstances for late
- 50:53term abortion. You actually read what it says.
- 50:56And it says that if the woman and the doctor decide for any
- 51:00number of reasons, which include emotional, financial, whatever
- 51:03mental relational reasons that they want this abortion, they
- 51:08get it. They get to kill that baby even
- 51:10full term. That's their right as long as
- 51:12the doctor signs off. Well, if your doctor's the
- 51:15abortionist who's profiting sometimes 20 K, $20,000 off of a
- 51:21butchering an infant basically, then he's going to sign off.
- 51:25So it's very disingenuous. It's very deceptive.
- 51:28It's also confusing what he's even trying to communicate here,
- 51:32Biden. This is a problem, of course,
- 51:35with our commander in chief right now, unfortunately.
- 51:37But one thing is true that President Biden's record on
- 51:41abortion is crystal clear and he is for abortion through all nine
- 51:44months of pregnancy. He is against every abortion
- 51:47restriction and he wants to put reproductive rights, as he calls
- 51:51it, front and center in his campaign.
- 51:54Here's the headline from CNN says Biden campaign puts
- 51:58reproductive rights front and center as it plans to tie Trump
- 52:03to abortion bans. So they're going to say, you
- 52:06know, President Trump is so anti abortion and we we are so for
- 52:11women's rights. Isn't it funny how they use the
- 52:14language right? We are for reproductive rights.
- 52:16Trump's anti abortion. How about Trump's anti killing
- 52:18babies and they are for pro killing babies is the correct
- 52:23lexicon. That's the correct language to
- 52:24use here. That is not euphemistic that
- 52:26they're using. Of course CNN is not going to
- 52:29report it that way and Biden won't say it that way, but that
- 52:31is the truth. Biden is for killing babies
- 52:34through all nine months of pregnancy tax funded for any
- 52:36reason. He doesn't want a single law, an
- 52:38iota of a law to defend one child in the womb.
- 52:42President Trump has an imperfect record on this and he has a lot
- 52:46of other issues as a candidate, but he has been much more
- 52:49pro-life, dramatically more anti abortion than Biden.
- 52:52That is a fact and it was after he appointed the justices to the
- 52:56Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett, one of my faves, as
- 52:59well as Kasich as well as Gorsuch, that Kasich as well as
- 53:04Gorsuch that they decided in Roe V Wade's overturning that that
- 53:09case, Dobbsy Jackson to overturn Roe V Wade.
- 53:12And now we have we have Kavanaugh, of course, now we
- 53:15have the over over ruling of Roe V Wade.
- 53:18And that was from Trump appointed judges.
- 53:21That's a fact. That's the record.
- 53:22And so he's trying to make it to be a bad thing when actually
- 53:26it's a good thing. That is one of the great things.
- 53:29That is one of the things I most approve of that President Trump
- 53:33has done when he was president. And one of the reasons I would
- 53:36understand, of course, many people flocking to vote for him
- 53:40as opposed to voting for President Biden who's
- 53:43extraordinarily pro abortion. All right, let's move to the
- 53:47chat now. We've got some Q&A, some
- 53:49questions coming in and some Q&A to do.
- 53:51I have a few questions from before from social media that
- 53:54I'm going to take here. And then if you've got
- 53:56questions, you can put them in the chat as well.
- 53:59Thank you guys for the kind words.
- 54:02Thank you. Someone saying yay for your seem
- 54:04to be born baby daughter. Thank you so much.
- 54:10We've got here, Ray saying hello.
- 54:12Just want to say hi. Thanks.
- 54:14Hello, Ray. Rachel, let's be real.
- 54:16Men will need to be LED when it comes to religiosity.
- 54:19Men are something more passive. OK, Well, it depends on the man.
- 54:22Some men are more passive. I think women in some ways,
- 54:25because we're more emotionally receptive by nature, we're
- 54:29designed to be more empathetic. I think sometimes aspects of
- 54:33spirituality comes more easy, easy to women.
- 54:35It's more easy for women to be spiritual in certain ways.
- 54:39That doesn't mean we're the spiritual leader per SE or that
- 54:42doesn't mean that we are holier, right?
- 54:45You can look really spiritual and not be holy.
- 54:48The devil is spirit and he is, he is damned, right?
- 54:52So the out the the the external manifestation of spirituality
- 54:58can be deceptive. What really matters in my book
- 55:01would be virtue and good, good behavior and obviously seeking,
- 55:05seeking the good as well as a life of prayer.
- 55:07I think prayer is key too. And he takes the same debate
- 55:11with destiny again, please. That was a that's a couple times
- 55:16a couple rounds now. All right, let's go to some
- 55:18questions from social media. We'll pull up a couple here to
- 55:21close this out. All right, since you're on the
- 55:25front, here we go. Here's a question that came in
- 55:28through Instagram. Since you're on the front lines,
- 55:30do you see abortion being completely eradicated?
- 55:36Yes, 100%. I do think abortion will be
- 55:40eradicated legally. May.
- 55:42Might it still be practiced in some rare cases the way that
- 55:45murder and rape and theft still happen even though those things
- 55:47are illegal? Yes, because humans are sinful
- 55:51and we have broken human nature. But do I think it will be
- 55:54abolished legally? Yes.
- 55:56I think it's going to take more time and effort, lots of effort,
- 56:00especially educational effort. Live Action does this everyday.
- 56:04My organization, we educate millions of people about human
- 56:06dignity. It's going to take fierce
- 56:09political fighting. But I do think it is possible
- 56:11and I think it is probable. And I think with prayer and
- 56:14work, we'll get it done. Let's do another one here, OK.
- 56:21Do you think, oh, this is a good one.
- 56:23Do you think no fault divorce should be federally reversed
- 56:27from having a legal, What is the last bit?
- 56:30What I'm saying from being a legal option for adults, OK, Do
- 56:36you think no fault divorce should be federally reversed
- 56:38from being a legal option for adults?
- 56:41So I think that divorce is bad. I think that in extremely rare
- 56:46cases, divorce in the legal sense may be necessary if there
- 56:51is abuse in a marriage and you need to protect your assets and
- 56:55your children, right? So I do think that in some
- 56:58cases, legally it can be permissible.
- 57:02I think spiritually speaking, if you're in a valid marriage, even
- 57:05if you do a legal divorce, you are still married before God to
- 57:09someone who is unfortunately an abuser.
- 57:13So you pray for them and you do your best to live your life.
- 57:16But I do not, I would not say remarriage is permissible in
- 57:20that case. There are many cases often where
- 57:23there is abuse, where there was an issue with how the marriage
- 57:26happened, meaning there was deception or a lack of full
- 57:30consent. And so that would mean the
- 57:31marriage was not necessarily valid and that would be grounds
- 57:36not just for divorce but annulment, meaning then marriage
- 57:39didn't take place in the 1st place.
- 57:40It wasn't a real marriage. Some people say, well, that's
- 57:43Catholic divorce and it's not true.
- 57:46In order for you to be married, you have to fully choose the
- 57:49person, freely choose the person, go in with eyes wide
- 57:52open. You have to have made full
- 57:54consent. You have to have had been in the
- 57:56position to be able to consent. There's some serious standards
- 58:01there. And sometimes in today's modern
- 58:03world, they're not met. All right, but the question no
- 58:06fault divorce, I think that at at large, the at the concept of
- 58:10it is not good. It's not good to say you can
- 58:13just divorce Willy nilly for any reason.
- 58:14I don't like that. I think that's I think that's
- 58:17harmful. Am I concerned about OK, well,
- 58:20let's just go back to the divorce laws of 100 years ago.
- 58:23We'll be good. That will be the solution.
- 58:25I don't know that that's a solution either because
- 58:27unfortunately, if you go back, you know, decades and decades
- 58:30ago, there were divorce laws that really favored men and, and
- 58:34unfortunately, in some rare cases, abusive men.
- 58:37And so you have these really tragic cases where women
- 58:40couldn't protect themselves or their children or if the woman's
- 58:42abusive, the man couldn't protect himself or his children,
- 58:45right? So you got to really look at
- 58:48there is nuance here. But typically speaking, as a
- 58:52policy, I think no fault divorce has been very problematic.
- 58:57All right, let's see what I think We're going to do 2 more.
- 59:00So the next one is the head over heels feeling necessary for a
- 59:05good relationship geared to marriage.
- 59:08I think it's good to be head over heels for at least a little
- 59:12bit. And you know, I think in
- 59:16marriage you, you ebb and flow like like in our marriage, Joe
- 59:20and I like there's certainly head over heels moments still
- 59:22that we experience, which we just love.
- 59:24And then there's just normal days and doldrums and life that
- 59:27has to happen, right? But I do think it's good to have
- 59:30butterflies. It's good to feel in love.
- 59:33I think that's beautiful. That's not the essence of love.
- 59:36Love is a choice. Love is an act.
- 59:39Love is willing the good for the other.
- 59:41But I think the butterflies are great.
- 59:43Should you seek the butterflies? Like, oh, if I don't feel the
- 59:45butterflies, I must not love them.
- 59:47Of course not. You might not have any
- 59:49butterflies. You might actually feel rage and
- 59:50frustration and you still love them to pieces and you're
- 59:54married to them for life, right? And that's an emotion you're
- 59:56going through because you're we're in a Rutter.
- 59:58You're having a hard time. That's life, right?
- 1:00:00Your toddler will have a rage sometimes and your toddler still
- 1:00:03loves you and you love them right?
- 1:00:04Similarly in a marriage. So I think you you can't idolize
- 1:00:09the butterflies. But we shouldn't disparage them
- 1:00:12either. They're beautiful and but we
- 1:00:13also shouldn't chase them. I mean, that's the last thing.
- 1:00:15I don't think you should chase the butterflies like I need to
- 1:00:17feel in love to be loving. No, you don't need to feel in
- 1:00:20love to be loving or to be loved.
- 1:00:23Last thing though, I think you should make space in your
- 1:00:26marriage if you're married to generate loving feelings.
- 1:00:31So it's not that you're so much chasing the feeling as you are
- 1:00:34creating space to date your spouse, creating space to enjoy
- 1:00:38your spouse, laugh with your spouse because that will bring
- 1:00:40good feelings and feelings are beautiful and and valuable.
- 1:00:45I think we, I think we're going to do one more.
- 1:00:47We're going to do one more and then I'm going to look at the
- 1:00:48chat one more time. All right, so last question
- 1:00:52here, and this is from social media, occasionally on Instagram
- 1:00:55or on Twitter. I'll do ask me anything and
- 1:00:56people send in stuff. OK, last one here.
- 1:00:59Oh, this is a this is a controversial one.
- 1:01:01Thoughts on gentle parenting ideology.
- 1:01:05All right, we got to do an episode on this guys.
- 1:01:09We are already at over an hour or so.
- 1:01:11We're thoughts on gentle parenting ideology.
- 1:01:14I think that aspects of gentle parenting are really good and I
- 1:01:18think I would try to practice them.
- 1:01:21Gentle parenting is what's commonplace on the Internet and
- 1:01:24talked about in different parenting discussion groups and
- 1:01:27accounts of this. You know, you don't spank.
- 1:01:30Sometimes you don't even do time out.
- 1:01:32And the child, if they're acting up, there's always a reason and
- 1:01:34you have to really accommodate and understand the child to
- 1:01:36really create emotional bonds with the child.
- 1:01:39That's the way to really direct the child.
- 1:01:40I think there's some principles there that are true.
- 1:01:43We do timeouts in my household. So we're, we're not a no timeout
- 1:01:47family. We do try to really understand
- 1:01:49why our kids are acting up and give lots of grace and but part
- 1:01:52of that is boundaries too. You need kids need boundaries.
- 1:01:55Kids need expectations, kid need kids need discipline.
- 1:01:58You got it. That's important.
- 1:02:00So this is a topic for another day.
- 1:02:02We should get a parenting expert on.
- 1:02:04Actually, if you guys know someone that you recommend as a
- 1:02:06parenting expert, we will invite them to the podcast.
- 1:02:08We will look at that and and, and likely invite them or maybe
- 1:02:11invite some future guests who have that expertise.
- 1:02:13We've had some people and with parenting thoughts on the
- 1:02:16podcast before, but not to particularly address gentle
- 1:02:19parenting. I think that would be a
- 1:02:21fascinating discussion. So let me go, let me know what
- 1:02:23you guys think. Send me a message.
- 1:02:25You can always e-mail me at lila@jtbmedia.com.
- 1:02:29What are your thoughts on gentle parenting?
- 1:02:31I've heard a lot of people on both sides who have good points.
- 1:02:35All right, going to the chat here.
- 1:02:38One question I just want to take from YouTube chat.
- 1:02:40Thank you guys for watching live on YouTube from EC.
- 1:02:45Hi Lila, Heroic virtue comes to mind when I hear your name.
- 1:02:47That's very sweet. I got to live up to that.
- 1:02:51What spiritual tools have helped you become the fearless advocate
- 1:02:54that you are and build your own organization?
- 1:02:57Well, I will tell you I'm not always fearless.
- 1:02:59I have my anxieties. But I will say that spiritually
- 1:03:02speaking, what has given me the most strength is learning my
- 1:03:07faith and understanding God's teachings on, of course, life
- 1:03:12and how I am to live how we are to live who God is.
- 1:03:15So studying the faith, studying morality, and then in addition,
- 1:03:20prayer, taking time to actually sit with God and hear him and
- 1:03:25pour my heart out to him. And then mentorship, having
- 1:03:29spiritual guides who can help me grow and keep me accountable and
- 1:03:32help me become more of a, I hope, more of a follower, true
- 1:03:39follower of Jesus Christ. So those are some things.
- 1:03:41They're very simple, but they're really fundamental.
- 1:03:44And you need a community too. You need a church community.
- 1:03:47You need to become friends with people who are on a faith
- 1:03:51journey with you towards God and who want to grow and who are
- 1:03:57faithful. You know as a Catholic people
- 1:03:59that are going to mass, that are doing their prayer, that
- 1:04:02understand the Eucharist, this is really Jesus Christ who want
- 1:04:05to go to confession or raising their kids in the faith.
- 1:04:07You want that in your friendships, at least some of
- 1:04:11them, people that you can try to grow with and who are oriented
- 1:04:14towards God and and service of others.
- 1:04:18All right, guys, thank you so much for joining the podcast.
