- 1:39Speaker 1: Rachel Farrell. Nothing has ever felt like this. Will is
- 1:42Speaker 1: discussing his release of his latest music project, So Many
- 1:45Speaker 1: Good Die Young, a moving and powerful tribute song and video,
- 1:49Speaker 1: as well as current events such as being an artist
- 1:51Speaker 1: in the pandemic, coping with work stoppage, hosting this popular
- 1:56Speaker 1: weekly radio show, The Wine Down. Please welcome to money
- 1:59Speaker 1: making Conversation. I've seen it many times on stage in Houston,
- 2:02Speaker 1: Texas at the Arena Theater. My man Will Donnie, How
- 2:07Speaker 1: you doing pretty good, my friend? Pretty good? I mentioned
- 2:10Speaker 1: that I mentioned I threw back some history on you
- 2:13Speaker 1: the Houston, Texas That's why I'm born and raised. Many
- 2:16Speaker 1: times I've seen you in concert at the Arena theater.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Tell everybody what the arena theater is and some of
- 2:21Speaker 1: the complications that it presents for a performer like you. Well, uh,
- 2:27Speaker 1: first and foremost good to see you. I always loved
- 2:30Speaker 1: playing in the Houston area. In Houston, I mean I
- 2:34Speaker 1: think I started my first show there was that like Rockefellers. Man, Yeah, wow,
- 2:38Speaker 1: for I know exactly. Oh yeah, I just looked this way. Yeah,
- 2:44Speaker 1: my mind of works a little bit. I know exactly. Rockefellers.
- 2:48Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah. Yeah. But the Arena theater, for
- 2:52Speaker 1: those who don't know, it's a theater in the round.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It's one of the few that still exists in the
- 2:55Speaker 1: in the country. Uh, there's one in New York, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: I think maybe the Arena might be the only. There's
- 3:00Speaker 1: another one and and Arizona. But what I was gonna
- 3:04Speaker 1: say is a theater, it's a it's a stage that rotates,
- 3:08Speaker 1: so it rotates very slowly, so when you're performing, it's like, oh,
- 3:11Speaker 1: there's that lady. Is that lady again? Is that lady?
- 3:15Speaker 1: So it's a rotating stage teach about three thousand people. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 1: and you have to entertain because basically you have to
- 3:23Speaker 1: kind of cater to everyone. It's not like you're looking
- 3:26Speaker 1: at them, you know, head on. It's like you gotta
- 3:28Speaker 1: turn around and look this way, to look this way
- 3:30Speaker 1: and try to make everyone engage. So it's it's a
- 3:33Speaker 1: it's an interesting concept. But if you're a good entertainer, uh,
- 3:37Speaker 1: it's it's a perfect you know setting, absolutely well. You
- 3:40Speaker 1: know when we were talking about your career and that
- 3:42Speaker 1: being a singer and that you in the time, I
- 3:45Speaker 1: don't know what you consider the times we are living
- 3:47Speaker 1: in right now with the pandemic and with the social
- 3:50Speaker 1: unrest that's going about. Because I want to get to
- 3:52Speaker 1: your song so many Good Die Young and includes some
- 3:55Speaker 1: social unrest conversation and that in that tremendous song. Where
- 3:59Speaker 1: is it as an artists emotionally? Where are you at
- 4:02Speaker 1: right now? Will Downing? Well, you know what I think
- 4:05Speaker 1: that as artists and I can speak for some of
- 4:08Speaker 1: my other artists friends because we talk often. It's a
- 4:12Speaker 1: roller coaster ride, you know. Um, you know, we were
- 4:14Speaker 1: riding high for a long time. I mean, you know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: work was plentiful, and then all of a sudden in March,
- 4:20Speaker 1: this thing just sort of hit and most of us
- 4:23Speaker 1: were kind of thinking like, oh, you know, we'll be
- 4:24Speaker 1: out of work for maybe a month or so, you know,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and then we'll get back and here we are and
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know, November and even the horizon, you know that
- 4:35Speaker 1: that light at the end of the tunnel, it's very dim,
- 4:39Speaker 1: So you know, we're looking at you know, probably you know,
- 4:42Speaker 1: the mid part of one before we get back to work.
- 4:45Speaker 1: So in the meantime, you know, we have to make
- 4:48Speaker 1: do with what we have and find a new way.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Has been challenging for something interesting for us. So when
- 4:57Speaker 1: you say, because look, a lot of people look at
- 4:59Speaker 1: a singer, doesn't realize a singer or performer like you're
- 5:02Speaker 1: you're an entrepreneur. You're a business person, and so when
- 5:05Speaker 1: you're looking at the business, you have to put together
- 5:06Speaker 1: a budget and other people depend on your your touring,
- 5:10Speaker 1: your revenue that you bring to the table. Like I said,
- 5:12Speaker 1: we all expected it to be as well as I
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know, I'm an entrepreneur own the business and the
- 5:17Speaker 1: line of George, I have employees that look to me
- 5:20Speaker 1: to deliver a paycheck at least twice a month when
- 5:23Speaker 1: they expected to pay their own personal bills. And so
- 5:26Speaker 1: when they when they told us to shut down for
- 5:28Speaker 1: two months, I thought, like, you up. And maybe we've
- 5:31Speaker 1: been back up and running. But then when all the
- 5:33Speaker 1: advertising industry said, hey, we're gonna go away for the
- 5:36Speaker 1: second quarter and then the third quarter, and then we
- 5:39Speaker 1: look now when we see the pandemic is spiking again.
- 5:42Speaker 1: You know, we're over a hundred and fifty cases per day.
- 5:45Speaker 1: So that's what you're saying, is that when it looks
- 5:47Speaker 1: like it may be a potential to get turned around
- 5:50Speaker 1: and live venues start opening back up and featuring consistent,
- 5:54Speaker 1: there are some venues out there to open, but it's
- 5:56Speaker 1: inconsistent because of the fact that all people willing are
- 5:59Speaker 1: comfortable to go back into arenas. Because right now the
- 6:02Speaker 1: movie industry is dying because people are not comfortable with
- 6:06Speaker 1: going into movie theaters. So what do you think is
- 6:09Speaker 1: the big push that's gonna make a difference. Is the vaccine?
- 6:12Speaker 1: All you think a conference zone with people accept the
- 6:15Speaker 1: responsibility of wearing masks, Well, I think it's a combination
- 6:19Speaker 1: of both, and unfortunately, uh, you know, people of color
- 6:26Speaker 1: have been used as guinea pigs for you know, these
- 6:30Speaker 1: vaccines in the past, and it hasn't really worked out
- 6:32Speaker 1: well for us. So I'm assuming that a lot of
- 6:35Speaker 1: folks are sort of like, you know, I think I'm
- 6:37Speaker 1: gonna wait, you know, and and see what happens soon,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you know, other folks, and and see how this you know,
- 6:44Speaker 1: see how this vaccine works. So um. And then plus
- 6:49Speaker 1: you know, for my demographic, you know, our demographic is
- 6:52Speaker 1: slightly older. Um that you don't have to yeah, get
- 6:55Speaker 1: out of there. We know we will. But you're telling
- 6:57Speaker 1: the truth, you know, because I'm gonna tell you when
- 6:59Speaker 1: when when the uh pandemic hit in Atlanta, Georgia, eight
- 7:03Speaker 1: out of the ten cases that were in the hospital
- 7:06Speaker 1: or African Americans. And so that is why when I
- 7:09Speaker 1: look at it, the whole situation right now, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: that's where Donald Trump was out there campaigning. They didn't
- 7:14Speaker 1: want to say it, but they know who has been affecting.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Its affecting people of color, people over sixty five. And
- 7:20Speaker 1: that wasn't his base, and so so he was just
- 7:23Speaker 1: out there flaunting it. Again his base can get COVID nineteen,
- 7:27Speaker 1: but not like at the risk of like we can
- 7:30Speaker 1: get it. And I said, we mean people of color,
- 7:32Speaker 1: African Americans, especially when you say eight out of ten cases.
- 7:36Speaker 1: So they all know from a standpoint that you know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: that's why that that the minority community when I include
- 7:42Speaker 1: the minority, including the Latinos. But this is our audience,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and so you know our audience dollars already stretched anyway
- 7:49Speaker 1: will and so when you have us having to deal
- 7:51Speaker 1: with you know, uh no stimulus package, uh venues that
- 7:56Speaker 1: are not available for us to perform in. When I
- 7:58Speaker 1: say us, you know, I book venues. I booked talent.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I've been a talent myself as a stand up comic,
- 8:05Speaker 1: So I know what it takes and what it what
- 8:07Speaker 1: it means when you go out there with these venues opportunities,
- 8:10Speaker 1: venue opportunity, you make a difference when you used to
- 8:12Speaker 1: come in to Houston because that venue was open and
- 8:15Speaker 1: then people work through ticket booth, people did the ticket
- 8:19Speaker 1: you know, did soul drinks. And so you are like
- 8:21Speaker 1: a machine and you are a revenue generator not only
- 8:25Speaker 1: for the for yourself personally for the city of Houston.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You know, you flew into town. You know, you had
- 8:30Speaker 1: car service, hotel, so you know, I don't know if
- 8:33Speaker 1: you look at yourself at that perspective. So as you
- 8:35Speaker 1: go from town to town, you're just moving. You just
- 8:37Speaker 1: bringing your little revenue generating behind from each city, and
- 8:41Speaker 1: you're making a difference in the community. And that's not
- 8:43Speaker 1: happening anymore. And that's a really big deal. Do you
- 8:46Speaker 1: recog responsibility, Yeah, there's certainly a domino theory that you
- 8:51Speaker 1: know that you're speaking you know, um, as you said,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you know, I have eight employees that you know, eight
- 8:59Speaker 1: folks that travel with me, so band members who rely
- 9:02Speaker 1: on me in some cases not exclusively to to feed
- 9:06Speaker 1: their family, because musicians kind of jumped from you know,
- 9:09Speaker 1: artists to artists. Uh, and they make it work in
- 9:12Speaker 1: their calendar somehow so that no one gets screwed. You know.
- 9:14Speaker 1: So if I'm performing, you know, more than likely there's
- 9:18Speaker 1: someone that they're working with is not hitting at the
- 9:20Speaker 1: same time or the same uh, same same weekend, so
- 9:24Speaker 1: we can get the same folks. So needless to say,
- 9:26Speaker 1: eight or nine people I employed, uh, and they you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: when this thing hit, they were looking at me like,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you know, hey, you want to take this chance, and
- 9:35Speaker 1: as you just said, you know, this disproportionately hits our community.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And as I was saying earlier, the age demo for us,
- 9:43Speaker 1: if even if they did open up the venues, now,
- 9:47Speaker 1: if a lot of the people that come to my
- 9:49Speaker 1: concerts check off all those boxes, you know, hot blood
- 9:52Speaker 1: pressure of a certain age, uh, you know, had pre
- 9:55Speaker 1: existing uh conditions. So if someone were to come through
- 10:00Speaker 1: the arena theater to come see me, and if someone sneeze,
- 10:04Speaker 1: people would be running up them aisle to get the
- 10:07Speaker 1: freak out and not to mention the potential loss, will
- 10:12Speaker 1: you might be running off the stage. I might be
- 10:15Speaker 1: running sneeze good night. Yeah, I mean it's just a
- 10:25Speaker 1: risk that uh right now, uh is I don't think
- 10:29Speaker 1: that's a smart thing to do. Um. I think everyone
- 10:33Speaker 1: just has to be patient, you know what I mean.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I know we've been patient for some time, and yes
- 10:37Speaker 1: we are. It looks like we are going into some
- 10:39Speaker 1: form of a second lockdown. But even with that, I mean,
- 10:43Speaker 1: you're nothing without your health. You know, you gotta you
- 10:48Speaker 1: gotta be patients. Just take your time. Well, I want
- 10:51Speaker 1: to I want to shift gears and go to the
- 10:53Speaker 1: new inspirational single. So many good Die Young. You know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: I think that we were really really stunned by the
- 11:03Speaker 1: death of Kobe and his daughter g Gi this year.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I think the world was stunned. Uh you know, from
- 11:11Speaker 1: have a daughter, so I was affected emotionally because I
- 11:14Speaker 1: know how much of my daughter means to me. And
- 11:17Speaker 1: he died with his daughter, and she was kind of
- 11:20Speaker 1: like his his his his female version of him. You know,
- 11:24Speaker 1: she played basketball, so she loved her daddy, you know
- 11:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Not saying the other daughters didn't love
- 11:30Speaker 1: him either, But but so many people and I starwed
- 11:33Speaker 1: and I saw the video and I looked at it
- 11:35Speaker 1: again and includes a lot of individuals that you know,
- 11:38Speaker 1: when I realized that a Leah she died when she
- 11:41Speaker 1: was twenty two, I forgot about it that she was
- 11:43Speaker 1: that young and Tupac was twenty five, I was wow,
- 11:47Speaker 1: you know, and you know you have Whitney Houston. But
- 11:50Speaker 1: before I jumped too early into us, just talk about
- 11:53Speaker 1: walk us through the steps of that song coming about
- 11:56Speaker 1: so many Good Die Young. It was released November eleven,
- 11:59Speaker 1: and one of the main reasons we are interviewing you
- 12:02Speaker 1: today is to let people know about that song and
- 12:04Speaker 1: get the word out and people start downloading and start
- 12:08Speaker 1: living with it and yeah, yeah, well, thank you very much.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Um once again. The song is entitled so Many Good
- 12:14Speaker 1: Die Young, and the inspiration for it was, I'm working
- 12:17Speaker 1: with one of my band members. We've been doing the
- 12:20Speaker 1: last my four or five records together, and we were
- 12:24Speaker 1: doing this record and I just said, you know, we
- 12:26Speaker 1: need something with a little bit more substance, that we're
- 12:29Speaker 1: missing a song. You know, I've pretty much been recording
- 12:31Speaker 1: an album since we've been off and you know, and
- 12:34Speaker 1: listening to what we've had, I said, man, we you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: we got all the dance stuff, we got all the
- 12:39Speaker 1: you know, we got all the love songs. I said,
- 12:40Speaker 1: we need a song of substance. He said, I'm working
- 12:43Speaker 1: on something right now. That's um, It's it's sad, he said,
- 12:48Speaker 1: but it's a beautiful song. Is that you want to
- 12:50Speaker 1: hear it? I just started on it and he started
- 12:52Speaker 1: playing me so Many Good Die Young, and together we
- 12:56Speaker 1: kind of penned, uh this song. The inspiration for it
- 13:00Speaker 1: is the passing of Chadwick Boseman, you know, which was
- 13:03Speaker 1: a shop to the world as world and no one
- 13:06Speaker 1: knew It's finally here. The season of celebration, and no
- 13:10Speaker 1: matter how you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're

- 15:03Speaker 1: R dot ai. That he was sick, uh, and it
- 15:07Speaker 1: kind of hit us all hard. And then it got
- 15:09Speaker 1: both of us thinking, like, how many other people have
- 15:11Speaker 1: died at this early age? And as you said, you
- 15:14Speaker 1: know people like Kaliyah, Um, Prince Michael Jackson was fifty two,
- 15:20Speaker 1: part he Martin, Luther King and Malcolm were only thirty nine.
- 15:30Speaker 1: The world Oh, no, yeah, yeah, at thirty nine, both
- 15:35Speaker 1: of them gentlemen change the world, you know, uh, And
- 15:39Speaker 1: it makes you look at yourself and what you're doing
- 15:41Speaker 1: with your life and how you're living your every day
- 15:44Speaker 1: and all those old things that you used to hear
- 15:46Speaker 1: your your aunts and your uncles and your grandparents and
- 15:49Speaker 1: your parents say, like, you know, tomorrow is not promised.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Live every day like it's your last. All of a sudden,
- 15:55Speaker 1: it's sort of like thing, all that stuff starts to
- 15:58Speaker 1: make sense to you, and you might start taking life
- 16:00Speaker 1: a little bit more seriously and enjoying life and also
- 16:05Speaker 1: adding something to society and giving something back, you know
- 16:08Speaker 1: what I mean, leaving your mark. You know. With the
- 16:11Speaker 1: advent of the Internet, which in my opinion, is one
- 16:14Speaker 1: of the greatest inventions ever made, the great one of
- 16:17Speaker 1: the greatest, but it is also one of the worst.
- 16:23Speaker 1: There's so much information out there that yet when when
- 16:28Speaker 1: something happens in the world today, if someone passes away,
- 16:31Speaker 1: it's almost like like we've become desensitized. It's kind of
- 16:35Speaker 1: like you're here and then you're not, you know, so
- 16:39Speaker 1: you're a blurb on a on a feed, you know,
- 16:42Speaker 1: if you're on one of the social media platforms. You
- 16:45Speaker 1: see it so and so passed away today and it's like,
- 16:47Speaker 1: oh my god, this is terrible, and then it rolls
- 16:49Speaker 1: up a little bit and then it's like literally just
- 16:52Speaker 1: forgotten we were talking about. And when I'm feeling the video,
- 16:56Speaker 1: when I was watching it and listening to the song,
- 16:58Speaker 1: you know, it's a lot of things going on in there,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know, like I said, you know, because you know,
- 17:03Speaker 1: we have Kobe in there where Chadwick you know his
- 17:06Speaker 1: his untimely death. You know, we have Marvin Gaye, you
- 17:08Speaker 1: have you know, civil rights leaders mart Luther King and
- 17:13Speaker 1: uh Malcolm Max and then you had a Tupacket in there,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and then you got current even more current. George Floyd's
- 17:20Speaker 1: in there, Brianna Taylor's in there, so and and and
- 17:24Speaker 1: and putting it in the inspiring layers together, because that's
- 17:28Speaker 1: a lot of different things going on there. You know,
- 17:30Speaker 1: when you have something with Michael Jackson and printing there,
- 17:33Speaker 1: you know, you could have went all all Luther and
- 17:35Speaker 1: Ross is in there. And so I've seen this video
- 17:38Speaker 1: several times as well, so I could I could just
- 17:40Speaker 1: start rattling off, you know, my boy, and I saw
- 17:42Speaker 1: Gerald leaverte I almost and Sean I took a seatback
- 17:45Speaker 1: because Gerald's death was a shocker to Gerald Leverte uh
- 17:48Speaker 1: and so when I when I look, when it could
- 17:51Speaker 1: have been all music. Okay, because you have Witney and
- 17:54Speaker 1: and Leillah, what made you start crossing genres as far
- 17:59Speaker 1: as you know, because Chadwick and Kobe Kobe sports, Chadwick
- 18:04Speaker 1: is acting and then the death of the several arts
- 18:08Speaker 1: that led to major several arrest in the city of
- 18:11Speaker 1: Louisville is Brianna Taylor and George Floyd at the Minnesota
- 18:14Speaker 1: When did you start saying, you know something, I gonna
- 18:16Speaker 1: include everybody. I have to make sure this message goes
- 18:20Speaker 1: across board and I'm not gonna make it just a
- 18:22Speaker 1: celebrity driven piece. Well I decided to do that because
- 18:27Speaker 1: all of these people really meant something to the world
- 18:30Speaker 1: and change the world. I mean, no one, you know,
- 18:34Speaker 1: the average person didn't know who George Floyd was. And
- 18:37Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, the world is looking at
- 18:40Speaker 1: the TV and they're saying this officer with his knee
- 18:44Speaker 1: on his neck, and all of a sudden people around
- 18:47Speaker 1: the world got it, like, Okay, you know, maybe maybe
- 18:51Speaker 1: we are leaning a little bit too hard on people
- 18:54Speaker 1: of color. You know. It made the world pay attention.
- 18:57Speaker 1: They had demonstrations around the world. So it changed. It
- 19:01Speaker 1: changed all about thinking the numbers eight, four or six
- 19:05Speaker 1: in the time eight minutes and forty six seconds, all
- 19:08Speaker 1: of a sudden means something to everyone around the world.
- 19:11Speaker 1: It will almost be as iconic as nine a left.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You know. So when you think of something like that,
- 19:17Speaker 1: that's big and you need to speak on that and
- 19:19Speaker 1: let people know. And you know, and and it's funny
- 19:22Speaker 1: in the video and it's not funny. But in the video,
- 19:25Speaker 1: I put um the officer, you know, I put his
- 19:28Speaker 1: picture in the video, and some and some people commented, say, everybody,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you put the space. It's like, I never want you
- 19:33Speaker 1: to forget how this young man passed away. It was
- 19:36Speaker 1: not of natural cause. You know, I always want you
- 19:39Speaker 1: to as young folks say, stay woke. I want you
- 19:41Speaker 1: to stay awake, stay woke, you know, keep your eyes open.
- 19:45Speaker 1: This man took this young man's life at this early age,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but in a in a warp sort of a way,
- 19:50Speaker 1: he's become a martyr, you know, because now people are awake.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Every time they see that, they're kind of like, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 1: maybe they'll they'll treat people that don't look like them
- 19:58Speaker 1: a little differently, you know, and they're wake up and
- 20:00Speaker 1: kind of maybe I should give this person an opportunity.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Maybe I shouldn't be so nasty, Maybe I shouldn't you
- 20:05Speaker 1: know what I mean, Let's treat each other a little
- 20:07Speaker 1: bit more fairly. So you know that that's why I
- 20:09Speaker 1: left that in there. So everyone that's on that video
- 20:12Speaker 1: has changed the world in some sort of a way,
- 20:15Speaker 1: right from a musical standpoint, from an acting stand from
- 20:19Speaker 1: from a I think Kobe from a from a parentee standpoint,
- 20:22Speaker 1: as well as a sports figure, you know, Hall of
- 20:24Speaker 1: Fame career that he had with the l A Lakers.
- 20:27Speaker 1: But like I said, you know that's why I was
- 20:29Speaker 1: really you know, uh towards B I. G. And and
- 20:31Speaker 1: you you really got a lot of people in this
- 20:34Speaker 1: in this in this video, and it really uh took
- 20:38Speaker 1: me down memory lane. And also like when you go
- 20:41Speaker 1: from louther you go to Tupac, go to towards and
- 20:44Speaker 1: then when you look at some of me, there's tragic
- 20:46Speaker 1: because you know, Tupac was killed you know, by drive
- 20:50Speaker 1: by situation. Same thing with Tors B I G. So
- 20:53Speaker 1: a lot of these individuals were victimize and Marvin Gaye
- 20:56Speaker 1: was killed by his brother. So a lot of the
- 20:58Speaker 1: individual victimized by circumstances that that that they didn't even
- 21:02Speaker 1: see coming. Uh, didn't even have control of. It wasn't
- 21:06Speaker 1: natural causes, you know, you know, we know that live
- 21:09Speaker 1: was through a plane crash and so that's that they
- 21:12Speaker 1: didn't get a chance to live their lives to the
- 21:15Speaker 1: to the fullest because they all died young. And that's
- 21:17Speaker 1: the name of the song. So many good die young
- 21:20Speaker 1: that right now you can see it on YouTube. Uh.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It was released November eleven. I'm putting in my news
- 21:26Speaker 1: letter this week. We're all I go out there, Nanny thousand,
- 21:28Speaker 1: subscribe if you don't mind, I like, you know, put
- 21:31Speaker 1: put a few Moale views on it from from the
- 21:33Speaker 1: Money Making Conversation side, hold on, hold on, amen, from
- 21:42Speaker 1: your lips to God's is I mean another interesting thing
- 21:46Speaker 1: about the song and I'm not gonna take up too
- 21:48Speaker 1: much of your time. Oh no, no. First of all, well,
- 21:50Speaker 1: first of all, will you know your family help money
- 21:52Speaker 1: Making Conversations that it's my family because I want to
- 21:55Speaker 1: talk about more about your greatest accomplishments and because you
- 21:58Speaker 1: know the thing about it, and you create relationships and
- 22:01Speaker 1: you know the value relationships. And I created this platform
- 22:04Speaker 1: because of the fact that I wanted individuals to come
- 22:06Speaker 1: on here and talk about their music, but also talk
- 22:08Speaker 1: about their career, to talk about their brands. Because you
- 22:11Speaker 1: are iconic in this industry, you let icon there's longevity
- 22:15Speaker 1: tied to your success. So I'm just let you know.
- 22:21Speaker 1: People always say that, you know, everybody wants to be
- 22:23Speaker 1: a singer. It's hard man to come into the city
- 22:26Speaker 1: and convince somebody to take food off their table and
- 22:30Speaker 1: go buy a ticket to come see you. That's a gift.
- 22:34Speaker 1: That's it's true. Man. My my father, uh he passed
- 22:39Speaker 1: away five years ago. When I told him, you know,
- 22:42Speaker 1: many many, many many years ago, that this is what
- 22:44Speaker 1: I wanted to do for a living. One of the
- 22:46Speaker 1: first things that came out of his face for you know, well,
- 22:48Speaker 1: you know, everybody can sing, everybody can dance, everybody can
- 22:52Speaker 1: play sports. What makes you special? What makes you think
- 22:54Speaker 1: people mud spend their hard earned money to come and
- 22:57Speaker 1: see you? And you know, so me there and I
- 23:01Speaker 1: laugh about it now, but back that he was very serious.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And I remember as I was coming up, I started
- 23:06Speaker 1: out in the clubs um like around New York and
- 23:09Speaker 1: he would come and he'd come to like, you know,
- 23:11Speaker 1: two or three hundred seed there, and you know, he
- 23:13Speaker 1: kind of got it then, and I was like, you know, yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 1: this is cool. And then one time I played Carnegie
- 23:18Speaker 1: Hall and he came to Carnegie Hall and he's like, well,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you know what, who else is on the show? I'm like,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I said, no, no, Dad, it's just me? Is it?
- 23:28Speaker 1: Were you telling me all these people I come to
- 23:31Speaker 1: see you? I said, yeah, so you just need here
- 23:35Speaker 1: and your mom waa come to fill some seats. I'm like, no, no, no, no,
- 23:37Speaker 1: I said, Dad, I think it's sold up to come
- 23:41Speaker 1: see you say yeah, So I can see him from
- 23:46Speaker 1: the stage. So I come walking out on stage and
- 23:48Speaker 1: my father does this. It is the funniest thing ever.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I see him and I started singing and people are applauding,
- 23:55Speaker 1: and he's doing this. He's looking back in the audience. Yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 1: like ye see him, So like, Dad, I'm gonna kill you.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But it was it was the moment that he kind
- 24:12Speaker 1: of got it, you know, you know, iding the money
- 24:15Speaker 1: and people were singing along and he's like, okay, well,
- 24:18Speaker 1: you know, yeah, I guess, you know, I guess you
- 24:20Speaker 1: are kind of doing absolutely because the same way My
- 24:24Speaker 1: father was the same way because I did stand up comedy.
- 24:27Speaker 1: So he didn't he didn't even remotely understand how that
- 24:30Speaker 1: was gonna be a possible success turn for me. And
- 24:33Speaker 1: it wasn't. And I bought a club and uh, Houston,
- 24:36Speaker 1: Texas in two and so um. He came in and
- 24:40Speaker 1: he looked around. He said, this you and he walked
- 24:43Speaker 1: into the room. We see about three fifty people. It
- 24:45Speaker 1: was sold out. People as a line outside the door
- 24:47Speaker 1: where people couldn't get in to see me. He said,
- 24:51Speaker 1: they come here to see you. So I know exactly
- 24:53Speaker 1: when you take a person who is blue collar, true
- 24:56Speaker 1: and true. Okay, entertainment is you know back there that
- 25:00Speaker 1: Sam with David J. You know what I'm saying, that
- 25:01Speaker 1: was that was Pearl Bailey, you know to him, you
- 25:04Speaker 1: know that was that was? That was the stall and
- 25:05Speaker 1: that you know that King Cole dude, his ball, his
- 25:10Speaker 1: boy to be a Cornegan Hall, This wife country here
- 25:13Speaker 1: and now his wife folks call, I know exactly where
- 25:15Speaker 1: it was that now, and that's if anybody knows Carnegie
- 25:18Speaker 1: Hall is in Manhattan, it's one of the you know,
- 25:21Speaker 1: the classic venues. Man, it's one of the venues when
- 25:24Speaker 1: you started making it in this business. You know. You know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: you play Carnegie Hall, you know, then you play like
- 25:30Speaker 1: you get really big, play you know, play their Masterson
- 25:33Speaker 1: Square Guard, play any place like the Fox, any of
- 25:37Speaker 1: the Fox theaters, you know, and you sell all those
- 25:40Speaker 1: bad boys. Your career is on fine wine Lane right there. Yeah, yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 1: you're saying something. So it was. It was an Hall
- 25:50Speaker 1: moment and it's and it's also good to know that
- 25:52Speaker 1: people do you know, spend their hard earned money to
- 25:55Speaker 1: come see you, you know, and it's it's tough out there,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you know, and and you know people have responded stabilities,
- 26:00Speaker 1: they have children, they have bills, you know, and for
- 26:03Speaker 1: someone to kind of say, I'm gonna take my money
- 26:06Speaker 1: and go see this person, right, you know, that means
- 26:09Speaker 1: a lot. Well, my whole thing that, like I said,
- 26:12Speaker 1: what you're taking the time to come on money making conversation,
- 26:14Speaker 1: Will is that you know, your your brand is like
- 26:17Speaker 1: I said, you know you're so humble, but believe me
- 26:21Speaker 1: when I hear I try. You know, you know you're
- 26:24Speaker 1: sitting on that stool. I can see that video, right
- 26:26Speaker 1: now you know you're sitting on that stood that black
- 26:29Speaker 1: and white. But this bar do you remember too even
- 26:32Speaker 1: remember too much? Well, I can't sing, but I can
- 26:41Speaker 1: be you though, you know what I'm saying. I can
- 26:43Speaker 1: imagine myself being you because of the fact that your gifts,
- 26:48Speaker 1: your talent, man, you're you. You've given us a sound
- 26:51Speaker 1: that relaxes me. You know what I'm saying that that
- 26:54Speaker 1: makes me feel good about the tomorrow. And that's all
- 26:57Speaker 1: that we ask And your song and you know so
- 27:00Speaker 1: many good die young. It's really about a song about tomorrow.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Like you said, you know, never never look to today
- 27:07Speaker 1: and say I can do it tomorrow, do it today
- 27:09Speaker 1: if you can do it today today, And that's what
- 27:12Speaker 1: you're saying with that song, and and and and and
- 27:14Speaker 1: putting it together again, came I November Loving I'm putting
- 27:17Speaker 1: into my newsletter, will you know, because you're part of
- 27:20Speaker 1: my repertoire. Like I said, I'm happy, I see this
- 27:23Speaker 1: gets to me to be a fan because I've been
- 27:25Speaker 1: a fan of all these years. Will I've been seeing
- 27:27Speaker 1: you at the arena, theaters and all that good stuff,
- 27:29Speaker 1: you know, coming in there. Right. So that was one
- 27:31Speaker 1: of those guys like your daddy. That's my man right there,
- 27:33Speaker 1: but he don't know yet, but now we do know
- 27:37Speaker 1: each other and my brother. Just keep the legacy building, man.
- 27:41Speaker 1: I hope you realize that you have a home here
- 27:42Speaker 1: with money making conversations, and I will promote you man.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And like I said, when this pandemic pulls up, I

- 29:08Speaker 1: Attention shoppers, We now have taste in the bread aisle
- 29:12Speaker 1: Dave's Killer Bread. That's right, an organic bread that doesn't
- 29:15Speaker 1: need three spoonfuls of sarracha jam to delight your taste butts.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Dave's Killer Bread is a twenty one grain salute to
- 29:22Speaker 1: the end of boring bread. A brand on a mission
- 29:24Speaker 1: to make the most out of every loaf, to rid
- 29:26Speaker 1: the world of GMOs and artificial ingredients, and plant the
- 29:30Speaker 1: seeds of good and all that they bake. But Dave's
- 29:32Speaker 1: Killer Bread has done more than raised the bar on bread.
- 29:34Speaker 1: In fact, Dave's Killer Bread was built on the belief
- 29:37Speaker 1: that second chances can change lives. When it's founder, Dave,
- 29:41Speaker 1: the guy with the guitar you see on every loaf,
- 29:43Speaker 1: returned to the family bakery after fifteen years in prison.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Dave took that chance and ended up creating what would
- 29:48Speaker 1: become the country's number one organic bread while never forgetting
- 29:52Speaker 1: his not so easy path. That's why it Dave's Killer Bread.
- 29:55Speaker 1: They proudly practice second chance employment, hiring the best person
- 29:58Speaker 1: for the job, regardless of criminal a background, and by
- 30:01Speaker 1: the taste of it, things have worked out rather well.
