- 1:02Speaker 1: the Money Making Conversation master Class Tomorrow. Are Jackson, how
- 1:07Speaker 1: you doing? My friend?
- 1:08Speaker 2: Hello? Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Now, I said a lot. Okay, so let's break it
- 1:14Speaker 1: down to my audience so they can they can hang
- 1:16Speaker 1: in there with us. Okay, First, well, let's start with
- 1:19Speaker 1: autoimmune diseases, What exactly is that? Sure?
- 1:24Speaker 2: So, autoimmune disease is when the body mistakes healthy cells
- 1:28Speaker 2: for invaders and begins to fight itself. And so some
- 1:33Speaker 2: of the popular ones that we know about are like lupus.
- 1:36Speaker 2: You hear about rheumatoid arthritis, multiple carosis, are as it's
- 1:41Speaker 2: recurred determined as ms, you know. So those are some
- 1:45Speaker 2: of the kind of ones, even chrones. Right, these are
- 1:49Speaker 2: some of the ones that we hear about often, but
- 1:53Speaker 2: in actuality they're over eighty autoimmune diseases.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Autoimmune How did you get into this line of thought
- 2:00Speaker 1: process or care.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Let me first say I've been a mental health professional
- 2:05Speaker 2: for over two decades, right, and so in the process
- 2:10Speaker 2: of you know, me working with families sometimes individuals, I've
- 2:16Speaker 2: worked with people who have dealt with chronic illness, not
- 2:18Speaker 2: even specifically auto on mute, but auto mune was sometimes
- 2:21Speaker 2: part of it, right. And so as far as how
- 2:24Speaker 2: I get to where I am today, during the lockdown,
- 2:28Speaker 2: I was again still weren't working as a mental health professional,
- 2:33Speaker 2: and you know, proliferated we know COVID and all of
- 2:37Speaker 2: those things. But equally alongside with that, I was dealing
- 2:42Speaker 2: with some symptoms that I had started exploring even before
- 2:46Speaker 2: the lockdown. It wasn't into that following like November, that
- 2:50Speaker 2: I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. So it came from
- 2:55Speaker 2: a very personal place. And when I was diagnosed, we
- 2:58Speaker 2: also there was no one to really reach out to
- 3:02Speaker 2: because everything was shut down, like literally right, And so
- 3:07Speaker 2: I will say in my personal journey, the work that
- 3:11Speaker 2: I had already been doing with individuals throughout the span
- 3:15Speaker 2: of my career informed how I was able to respond
- 3:18Speaker 2: in even kind of my next steps.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Now I know you're not a doctor, you know, no, right, right,
- 3:26Speaker 1: little something, because I got to ask exactly what some
- 3:28Speaker 1: of these symptoms are, so it can help me be educated.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Because first let's start with something that is personally attacking
- 3:34Speaker 1: your body. Rumatall? Do you said rumatoid? Or what exactly
- 3:42Speaker 1: is that?
- 3:44Speaker 2: So just think inflammation when we're talking about on our
- 3:48Speaker 2: immune disease across the board, just think of always inflammation
- 3:52Speaker 2: as part of it, right, And so like your body,
- 3:56Speaker 2: there's different organs or systems are in your body where
- 4:01Speaker 2: inflammation is stored. Right, So it far as far as
- 4:05Speaker 2: ouray is concerned, I deal with chronic inflammation. And for
- 4:10Speaker 2: me in my personal journey, because again each person is different.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Just like you said, my initial symptoms was my hands
- 4:19Speaker 2: were sticking. I literally at times in the morning, I
- 4:22Speaker 2: will wake up and couldn't open my hands, or it
- 4:25Speaker 2: took a lot of force opening my hands for instance. Also,
- 4:30Speaker 2: something that is really common across the board with autoimmune
- 4:34Speaker 2: disease is fatigue. And I'm not talking about a little tired.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I'm not talking about the push through I'll get through it.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I'm tired. This is like literally almost like a narc
- 4:44Speaker 2: knock or elepsy, where like the body literally shuts down
- 4:49Speaker 2: without warning. You can't even pretend to try to stay up.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Here's the thing about the last five years has been
- 4:55Speaker 1: incredible as far as awareness, especially in the when mental
- 4:59Speaker 1: health area, especially in the African American community or community
- 5:03Speaker 1: of color, which has always been in denial or didn't
- 5:06Speaker 1: have the information or the train or lanes where you
- 5:10Speaker 1: could go if you had issues, and COVID exposed that
- 5:14Speaker 1: to all of us, and I think there was a
- 5:15Speaker 1: willingness to be able to seek help. I know personally
- 5:20Speaker 1: I'm dealing. I'm doing some virtual therapy with stress, trying
- 5:26Speaker 1: to get my life back down to normal because it's
- 5:29Speaker 1: never been normal. You know, I've always bragged about my
- 5:32Speaker 1: stressful life. I almost was a champion because of it.
- 5:36Speaker 1: But something's not right. You got to have time for yourself. Okay,
- 5:40Speaker 1: anybody's listening. Something that has to be done so you
- 5:44Speaker 1: can have a calm, normal, everyday life. With that being said,
- 5:50Speaker 1: Black people, that's me. Do we get it now or
- 5:54Speaker 1: we're still struggling to get there tomorrow.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I think with everything that is happening in our society,
- 6:03Speaker 2: people expect us to just sit back and almost like, Okay,
- 6:07Speaker 2: well we're gonna hint, We're just gonna take it right.
- 6:10Speaker 2: But what we've seen you mentioned the last five years,
- 6:13Speaker 2: even when if we think back to the shutdown where
- 6:16Speaker 2: people came out of their houses and was protesting, like, no,
- 6:19Speaker 2: we're not gonna have it. You're not gonna be whipping
- 6:22Speaker 2: on us. You're not gonna be shooting our children down,
- 6:24Speaker 2: our husband's, our brothers, uncles, et cetera, right, our daughter's nieces, etc.
- 6:30Speaker 2: And so much is happening, yes, and I think we
- 6:35Speaker 2: are getting it. I think no, have we arrived now?
- 6:39Speaker 2: And there's still such stigma. But in my work, I
- 6:42Speaker 2: see I work with a lot of us, you know,
- 6:45Speaker 2: and when I say us, it can be black or
- 6:47Speaker 2: it could be another person of color. Absolutely, people are
- 6:50Speaker 2: showing up. More people are understanding it's okay not to
- 6:54Speaker 2: be okay, And I think equally it helps when they're
- 6:58Speaker 2: opposite someone that looks like him.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Let me just update everybody who we're talking to. I'm
- 7:02Speaker 1: talking tomorrow. R Jackson. She's a licensed clinical social worker
- 7:06Speaker 1: and certified clinical trauma professional with a deep passion for
- 7:10Speaker 1: autoimmune disease awareness. Now, well, we when I asked at
- 7:14Speaker 1: the beginning of the show, she said lupa's rheumatad arthritis,
- 7:17Speaker 1: which she is. In fact, I have a personal crisis
- 7:20Speaker 1: and she deals with MS. And but she said, you know,
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sir Richel, despite the grower preference of these autoimmune diseases
- 7:28Speaker 1: are underrepresented, underrepresented mainstream health discussion. Is that what you're saying?
- 7:34Speaker 2: So yes, right, kind of like the usual suspects of
- 7:38Speaker 2: autoimmune diseases, we're very familiar, we're very familiar with. But
- 7:42Speaker 2: when it really comes down to education, I would ask you,
- 7:46Speaker 2: what do you really know about rheumatoid arthritis? What do
- 7:49Speaker 2: you really know about lupus and how it shows up? Right?
- 7:52Speaker 2: And the limited and even more than how it shows
- 7:56Speaker 2: up the limitations. Right. So this is kind of where
- 7:58Speaker 2: I work with client and individuals about right, because now
- 8:02Speaker 2: I can't show up the same and you as my
- 8:05Speaker 2: friend or you as my partner may be empathetic and
- 8:09Speaker 2: know my status or whatever situation is, but you don't
- 8:12Speaker 2: even know how to help me sometimes from day to day.
- 8:16Speaker 2: To know to live with a chronic illness, all all
- 8:18Speaker 2: immune or otherwise is to know that from day to day,
- 8:22Speaker 2: for the most part, you're not gonna know what that
- 8:25Speaker 2: next day is going to bring. So there's good days
- 8:28Speaker 2: and there's bad days, and there's days that you got
- 8:30Speaker 2: it and it feels like you can run the world
- 8:33Speaker 2: like the back the old days, but there's a lot
- 8:36Speaker 2: of days that you just can't. You just can't, mister McDonald.
- 8:40Speaker 1: If so, if a friend of yours say they're dealing
- 8:42Speaker 1: with something, asked what they're dealing with and how is
- 8:47Speaker 1: impact in their lives so you can be there for them.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That's the step, Pardicatar. Don't just walk away thinking you understand,
- 8:53Speaker 1: because my simple thing is the word arthritis has been
- 8:57Speaker 1: around my vocabulary the most. You know, talk about your
- 9:01Speaker 1: knuckles and your knees, you know, creaking. You know, nobody
- 9:05Speaker 1: wants to deal with any formal authoritis as you get old.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But then you tell me rumatald author brush. I can't
- 9:15Speaker 1: open my hands sometimes, you know, wow, I.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Can't even open this. Times I couldn't even open my door.
- 9:22Speaker 2: You know how you press down? If you do the
- 9:24Speaker 2: press down, I couldn't even open my door.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I had to go to pt So with that being said, mentally,
- 9:29Speaker 1: that's where you come in and you help right absolutely
- 9:33Speaker 1: walking through the steps, walking through some of those steps.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I say the biggest part of my job is active
- 9:38Speaker 2: listening because if I don't listen, I don't even know
- 9:42Speaker 2: what questions. And usually I'm a person of questions, right
- 9:46Speaker 2: because my my remedy is not gonna help you, right,
- 9:50Speaker 2: even if a person has already like me, it's gonna
- 9:53Speaker 2: show up differently. So I just have to make safe
- 9:56Speaker 2: space for you to explore the possibilities. And I think
- 9:59Speaker 2: that's that's the biggest thing that I can say, The
- 10:02Speaker 2: biggest gift that I have been able to do in
- 10:04Speaker 2: my work is create safe space for people to understand
- 10:08Speaker 2: that we can put a semicolonto this diagnosis as opposed
- 10:12Speaker 2: to a period because when we get these news, right,
- 10:15Speaker 2: when we get the name to the situation, it's such
- 10:19Speaker 2: so matter of fact. And as you said, fifty million
- 10:22Speaker 2: people are affected with autoimmune diseases, right, And it's almost
- 10:26Speaker 2: like the doctor that gives you the news is reducing
- 10:31Speaker 2: you to a statistic. But I'm not a statistic and
- 10:34Speaker 2: I still need to now figure out how I show
- 10:36Speaker 2: up in my own life, right, what does this mean?
- 10:39Speaker 2: You know? How what does the alterations that I need
- 10:42Speaker 2: to have mean for me? And that's usually not the
- 10:45Speaker 2: conversations that you get with doctors. Honestly, that becomes with
- 10:50Speaker 2: your own research, that comes with you know, working with
- 10:53Speaker 2: a therapist or you know, are having a confidant that
- 10:56Speaker 2: gives you again safe space. I know I keep saying that,
- 10:59Speaker 2: but safety is very important because so much is going
- 11:03Speaker 2: on of what can bubble up when you hear this
- 11:07Speaker 2: diagnosis and what people associated to me tomorrow.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Like I stated several times in the show, and I'm
- 11:13Speaker 1: gonna keep stating it because you need to understand we're
- 11:17Speaker 1: talking to a professional. She's a licensed clinical social worker
- 11:21Speaker 1: worker and certified clinical trauma professional with a deep passion
- 11:25Speaker 1: for auto mune autoimmune disease awareness. Now this conversation is
- 11:29Speaker 1: leaning more to empowering the community through conversation because and
- 11:33Speaker 1: education and education. Now you let's let's let's let's get
- 11:37Speaker 1: even deeper into tomorrow. You had an award winning documentary. Okay,
- 11:43Speaker 1: how can we Is it on YouTube or can we
- 11:45Speaker 1: access that?
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yes, it's actually on Vimeo. You can actually if you
- 11:51Speaker 2: go to Vimeo and you put in the invitation that
- 11:54Speaker 2: is the name of it, it should come up and
- 11:57Speaker 2: it gives you opportunity to rent it. No one can
- 12:00Speaker 2: can buy it. But because I'm still doing screenings, and
- 12:03Speaker 2: I do screenings whereas I do talkbacks and education, and
- 12:07Speaker 2: even there's a version of it where I will bring
- 12:11Speaker 2: a chef along and we'll will have you sampling food
- 12:15Speaker 2: because food is medicined. And yes, sometimes we have to
- 12:19Speaker 2: use medication, and I do use medication. But everybody that
- 12:24Speaker 2: is featured in the documentary also has incorporated what I
- 12:27Speaker 2: call lifestyle management, making intentional decisions whereas we can thrive
- 12:34Speaker 2: in spite of having whatever autoimmune disease that is, and
- 12:38Speaker 2: for a number of us, that includes food for a
- 12:41Speaker 2: number of us, that includes how you know what we
- 12:44Speaker 2: say yes to and what we say no to is
- 12:46Speaker 2: very is moving with extreme intentionality.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So you're saying, Rajan is on vimeo. My award winning
- 12:52Speaker 1: documentary is on Vimeo. Just go to Vimeo in this
- 12:55Speaker 1: search bar, type in the invitation and one can rent that.
- 13:00Speaker 2: This is a that is correct, or you can go
- 13:03Speaker 2: to IG. Here's another like, sure she's fired up now
- 13:07Speaker 2: she finally got to act together. Well, yeah, because if
- 13:11Speaker 2: we go through social media, there's a couple of ways
- 13:13Speaker 2: that you can do it. So do the meal, but
- 13:16Speaker 2: also on IG there's an impact campaign because it's all
- 13:20Speaker 2: about awareness, like you had said in education. So there's
- 13:23Speaker 2: an impact campaign page that I have created for the film,
- 13:26Speaker 2: and it's called the Invitation Documentary and that link also
- 13:31Speaker 2: even attached all over that. All over that page you
- 13:34Speaker 2: will have different resources, inspiration testimonials, you know. All of
- 13:41Speaker 2: that is on that page. But in the in the
- 13:44Speaker 2: profile is a link and it has doing the link tree.
- 13:49Speaker 2: It has where you can go hit and rent the video.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Also my website Hopeful Therapy and Consulting or even tomorrow
- 13:58Speaker 2: r Jackson dot com.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 14:03Speaker 3: money making conversations Masterclass. Welcome back, to the Money Making
- 14:13Speaker 3: Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 14:19Speaker 3: continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making
- 14:23Speaker 3: Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Okay, let's talk about this tomorrow.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I'm sorry, y'all have a lot now, you know.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'm letting you get your worried out because we got to.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I don't know. This episode is about education, It's about
- 14:39Speaker 1: pushing us beyond. Oh yeah, yeah, I got you, I
- 14:42Speaker 1: got you. I got you because one of the most
- 14:44Speaker 1: compelling things you mentioned on this show is that autoimmune disease.
- 14:49Speaker 1: You can be great on Tuesday, be bad on Wednesday. Absolutely,
- 14:53Speaker 1: you can be great on Monday, Tuesday, window, Thursday, Friday,
- 14:56Speaker 1: and band on Saturday. You can't make the party or
- 14:58Speaker 1: you can't make the wedd right and I can't get
- 15:00Speaker 1: up and go to work on Monday morning. And what
- 15:04Speaker 1: happens in that old situation is the word embarrassment. Not
- 15:08Speaker 1: wanting to tell people what's going on in your personal life,
- 15:12Speaker 1: not wanting to feel like baggage. You don't want to
- 15:16Speaker 1: walk in a room with people staring at you. If
- 15:18Speaker 1: you stumble I'm all you know, because you know how
- 15:21Speaker 1: people are. If they don't understand something you cough, they
- 15:25Speaker 1: think it's contagious even though it's not contagious. So something
- 15:30Speaker 1: you mentioned earlier is the word diet, because that's so
- 15:33Speaker 1: important what you eating, how you eat. Let's stick with
- 15:36Speaker 1: you because you know you're my personal subject matter expert.
- 15:42Speaker 1: You have ari As she's shouting it to me. Now,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I'm like, like, I know what I'm talking about, all right,
- 15:47Speaker 1: I love it.
- 15:48Speaker 2: No, go ahead, I love it.
- 15:49Speaker 1: I love it. What did your did change? And what
- 15:51Speaker 1: did you do? Did you fight your diet change or
- 15:54Speaker 1: how did did y'all die change? For you?
- 15:56Speaker 2: When I when we say diet here, we're not talking
- 15:59Speaker 2: about of latest trend, you know. No, we're talking about
- 16:04Speaker 2: a lifestyle change. And really what that looks like is
- 16:08Speaker 2: an anti inflammatory diet. For me, I was already plant based, right,
- 16:14Speaker 2: so I didn't have to It wasn't too much pivoting,
- 16:18Speaker 2: not saying that a person has to be plant based
- 16:21Speaker 2: on an ANSI inflammatory diet. Well, what it does include
- 16:25Speaker 2: is making sure you're eating wild caught foods like wild
- 16:29Speaker 2: caught salmon. I think Macro was on the list year.
- 16:34Speaker 2: It was like those white fish, right, and salmon equally,
- 16:39Speaker 2: it's the wild gain as far as meats, so it's
- 16:42Speaker 2: not beef, but it's like buffalo and absolutely so anything
- 16:52Speaker 2: that you ingest, it's not promoting more inflammation. Remember I
- 16:57Speaker 2: said at the beginning, will all auto I mean disease,
- 17:00Speaker 2: you know that. Excuse me? Inflammation is involved, right, So
- 17:05Speaker 2: any means necessary. We're trying to reduce inflammation. So that's
- 17:10Speaker 2: reducing sugar. Now here is where there's some nuance, right, So,
- 17:15Speaker 2: and where it becomes particular me as a person with
- 17:19Speaker 2: RA it's okay for me to eat avocados. I'm gonna
- 17:23Speaker 2: use avocados because I avocados, by the way, exactly, I
- 17:27Speaker 2: love avocados. It's a healthy fat. Right. However, one of
- 17:31Speaker 2: the participants in my film who has lupis nephritis, which
- 17:36Speaker 2: means the lupis attacks her kidneys and she's on dialysis, right,
- 17:41Speaker 2: so yeah, there's extreme dialys yeah yeah, and so she
- 17:46Speaker 2: can't have avocados. So she has a very specialized diet
- 17:51Speaker 2: and it also is anti inflammatory. But there's things that
- 17:54Speaker 2: she can't eat. She can eat, like a halo arnt,
- 17:57Speaker 2: like the little clementine, but she can't have an actual orange.
- 18:01Speaker 2: So it's the It's also not only what you eat,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but the makeup of what you eat, if that makes sense.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But if you're a meat eater, it definitely means wild court.
- 18:13Speaker 2: It definitely means more chicken turkey type of thing. Again,
- 18:18Speaker 2: is that wild court. You don't want the farm raised stuff.
- 18:22Speaker 2: It is more of the wilder games meats, like I said,
- 18:26Speaker 2: like elk and things in buffalo and things so that
- 18:30Speaker 2: things of that nature.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Well, you know when I talk about you know, I
- 18:34Speaker 1: try to personalize some of that stuff so people can
- 18:36Speaker 1: understand that. You know, I'm engaged in the whole process
- 18:40Speaker 1: because as you get older, you're dying has to change
- 18:43Speaker 1: because you're trying to you know, you you know, you're
- 18:45Speaker 1: not in the rush to get to the finish line.
- 18:47Speaker 1: You know, I'm trying to. I'm trying to push that
- 18:48Speaker 1: gold post, as I say, move a gold post. Roshall
- 18:51Speaker 1: wasn't moving those gold posts at twenty. Now I'm pushing
- 18:55Speaker 1: that gold post as far out the one't even want
- 18:57Speaker 1: to see it tomorrow now. So when you start getting
- 19:01Speaker 1: these symptoms, let's talk about your business that you've developed
- 19:07Speaker 1: and how people get in touch with you because again,
- 19:12Speaker 1: sometimes we can blow off what really is an auto
- 19:15Speaker 1: immune issue that you're dealing with, but we don't. You know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: you know, people google stuff AI stuff because technology is
- 19:24Speaker 1: really proving to be a bad doctor now because it
- 19:27Speaker 1: talks back to you. It talks back to you, and
- 19:30Speaker 1: you know, it used to be just you Google and
- 19:32Speaker 1: you just read. Now, oh you have this time I
- 19:34Speaker 1: go home and do that, you know, and that's not
- 19:36Speaker 1: good because you actually think somebody's talking to you. And
- 19:39Speaker 1: that's not fair because voices nowadays don't sound like computers
- 19:43Speaker 1: like they used to. They sound like human beings are
- 19:46Speaker 1: talking back to you. Now when you're dealing with this
- 19:50Speaker 1: new technology tomorrow, does that scare you?
- 19:55Speaker 2: No, it doesn't scare me. Let me be fair. I
- 19:58Speaker 2: don't use it, and you googling symptoms will have you
- 20:03Speaker 2: thinking you have everything. So let me simplify in saying this.
- 20:08Speaker 2: If you are experiencing discomfort in your body, whatever that
- 20:12Speaker 2: means for you, please go see a doctor. It's in
- 20:17Speaker 2: particular you're dealing with chronic fatigue like I was saying, handsticking,
- 20:23Speaker 2: or you're dealing with kind of like that irritoboo type
- 20:26Speaker 2: of thing that may be like crones or colitis or
- 20:29Speaker 2: you know, are something in that you need to see
- 20:31Speaker 2: a professional. So for anything dealing with the GI track,
- 20:35Speaker 2: that's kind of a gastro entrologist, right For a person
- 20:39Speaker 2: like myself, whether it's ara psoriasis, even lupists right, Really,
- 20:46Speaker 2: a rheumatologists can diagnose all of this. They do this
- 20:49Speaker 2: whole panel and they're able to omit what's not happening
- 20:53Speaker 2: and they're able to identify what actually is happening. So
- 20:57Speaker 2: I would say, and usually these these are additional referrals
- 21:02Speaker 2: that you got to get from your primary But equally
- 21:05Speaker 2: I'll say this is that if your doctor is not
- 21:09Speaker 2: listening to you about your symptoms, that is not your doctor.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Change your doctor. So I also want to empower people
- 21:16Speaker 2: to know that you know, whoever they're being working with,
- 21:20Speaker 2: that is not the end all to be all. If
- 21:23Speaker 2: they're not answering your questions, if they're not respecting your person,
- 21:26Speaker 2: if they're treating you just like a statistic or diagnosis,
- 21:30Speaker 2: then it's time to start exploring where you can develop
- 21:34Speaker 2: a treatment team, because you need a treatment team with this,
- 21:37Speaker 2: there's no magic in it. Just like I say, we
- 21:40Speaker 2: need doctors, you need a mental health professional. You know,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I I just have to say it. Your friend will
- 21:49Speaker 2: be well intentioned, your family member well intentioned, but you're
- 21:53Speaker 2: gonna wind up getting annoyed because they're not equipped. They
- 21:57Speaker 2: don't have the tools to help you navigate this diagnosis
- 22:01Speaker 2: and the nuances of it. They just don't It doesn't
- 22:04Speaker 2: mean that they don't love you, they don't care, they're
- 22:06Speaker 2: not concerned, they just don't have it. So to avoid
- 22:10Speaker 2: you getting upset and them getting upset, there's already gonna
- 22:14Speaker 2: be strains in relationships. So let me also say that.
- 22:16Speaker 2: And I'm sorry. I don't want to overtalk, but I
- 22:18Speaker 2: just want to manage expectations. There's always, there's always with
- 22:23Speaker 2: chronic illness, you're going to deal with changes and dynamics
- 22:27Speaker 2: in relationships, both intimate and friendship, and otherwise it is
- 22:32Speaker 2: no way else that it can happen. And I tell
- 22:35Speaker 2: you this, you can't fight for your life and fight people.
- 22:39Speaker 2: So it's just one of the other things that's gonna
- 22:43Speaker 2: become part of your grief process. Know that grieving is okay,
- 22:47Speaker 2: it is actually healthy, but have support in that process. Girl,
- 22:53Speaker 2: I know I said a lot, well you.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Know you said all the right things. I was kind
- 22:56Speaker 1: of like going there when I was just talking about
- 22:58Speaker 1: how they're going to be changes tied to the other. Life, embarrassment,
- 23:03Speaker 1: not want to acknowledge everything going on. You're in a
- 23:06Speaker 1: relationship that you're excited about, you want to don't want
- 23:09Speaker 1: to acknowledge, and sometimes you go, I'm not making an
- 23:12Speaker 1: excusees why you don't want to be seen that day
- 23:15Speaker 1: because you don't want that person to see you uncomfortable
- 23:18Speaker 1: and watching them react to you being uncomfortable. Truth is
- 23:23Speaker 1: when you've got an auto immune disease. And I'm talking
- 23:27Speaker 1: to Tomorrow. She's a full named Tomorrow R. Jackson. She's
- 23:31Speaker 1: a licensed clinical social worker. She's an award winning documentary.
- 23:36Speaker 1: It's called The Invitation. You can go to Vimeo, type
- 23:38Speaker 1: in the search line. The Invitation pops right up. You
- 23:41Speaker 1: can rent it there and it talks about things that
- 23:44Speaker 1: you've heard about. You know. Our a is what she's
- 23:46Speaker 1: dealing with. Personal rheumatad arthritis. Have friends, a couple of
- 23:51Speaker 1: friends who have lupus, And I can tell you this.
- 23:53Speaker 1: I'm aware of the name. I don't know their symptoms,
- 23:55Speaker 1: which is not good because guess what I've called them
- 23:58Speaker 1: My friend, I should know more because they're a crisis.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I should understand what exactly those symptoms look like so
- 24:05Speaker 1: I could be there for them. But again, when you
- 24:07Speaker 1: we all know the number one thing we do is
- 24:10Speaker 1: avoid information. We don't want to be engaged in information.
- 24:15Speaker 1: Nobody wants to walk into a dark room. What we
- 24:17Speaker 1: do we turn on the light. So nobody wants to
- 24:20Speaker 1: walk into a situation where they are confused because there's
- 24:23Speaker 1: no life switch to turn on. You got to sit
- 24:26Speaker 1: there and hear that person, and then you have to
- 24:29Speaker 1: make a decision is this something I want to be
- 24:32Speaker 1: engaged with on a regular basis. And that's what people
- 24:35Speaker 1: with autoimmune disease, all fifty million plus of them are
- 24:39Speaker 1: dealing with, dealing with a mental world of acceptance. And
- 24:43Speaker 1: so that's my soapbox moment because I feel that when
- 24:47Speaker 1: I put together this show, but people go, why are
- 24:49Speaker 1: you talking about this? Well, guess what. There are people
- 24:51Speaker 1: out there that the number fifty million, That means you know, somebody,
- 24:55Speaker 1: this is money making conversations. Money making conversations that if
- 24:59Speaker 1: they suffer, it's going to impact you. They might not
- 25:02Speaker 1: go to work, they might not buy something, they might
- 25:05Speaker 1: it might be a key person to engage in your
- 25:10Speaker 1: life that you don't even know what bottom line is Tomorrow,
- 25:14Speaker 1: how do we get in touch with you, my.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Friend Tomorrow Jackson dot com. Okay, everything that you need
- 25:23Speaker 2: will be there. You will find the documentary. Naturally, you'll
- 25:27Speaker 2: find more than one, even though this is the one
- 25:30Speaker 2: on autoimmune disease. You will find a one sheet that
- 25:33Speaker 2: I created part of the Impact campaign on autoimmune disease,
- 25:37Speaker 2: where you will get tips and the resources when if
- 25:42Speaker 2: you've been newly diagnosed and you know even how you support,
- 25:47Speaker 2: if you want to book me and you want to
- 25:48Speaker 2: book a screening and have me have a talk back
- 25:51Speaker 2: or conversation or even you know, we have a tasting
- 25:57Speaker 2: attached to it, right because people always think changing food
- 26:01Speaker 2: means nasty, and I promise you it's not our tasteless.
- 26:06Speaker 2: That is how you that is how you can get
- 26:09Speaker 2: in touch with me. We're gonna just simplify it Tomorrowarjackson
- 26:14Speaker 2: dot com.

- 26:39Speaker 2: and more, not that we need especially month or day
- 26:42Speaker 2: to bring up these lift up these things. Thank you
- 26:46Speaker 2: so much.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Well, I guess what, I don't care about the days
- 26:50Speaker 1: because I'm educating people that the day starts today, the
- 26:53Speaker 1: day starts to do so the day starts to September.
