- 1:47Speaker 1: like justify why I did why. I have a passion
- 1:51Speaker 1: for letting people know why you can be successful because
- 1:53Speaker 1: the bottom line in the life today is that a
- 1:55Speaker 1: lot of people don't realize they can be successful, and
- 1:57Speaker 1: people should always stop me. Could you mentor for me?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Can you mentor me? And I really I could. Frankly,
- 2:03Speaker 1: I can't mentor everybody who talks to me, but this
- 2:05Speaker 1: show allows me to give information. In a way, I
- 2:07Speaker 1: am mentoring people out there because people listen to my
- 2:10Speaker 1: show on the regular basis. You know, broadcast live in
- 2:13Speaker 1: the Line of Georgia. Every Monday. You can hear me

- 2:32Speaker 1: on Howard University campus and Serious XM Channel one forty
- 2:35Speaker 1: two on HBCU campuses. It's important on letting everybody know
- 2:39Speaker 1: how the brand is going. And the next month I'll
- 2:41Speaker 1: be at making announcements a more HBCU campuses that will
- 2:45Speaker 1: pick up this show because my mantra is to make
- 2:48Speaker 1: sure that information that we don't get left out. The
- 2:51Speaker 1: millennials eighteen to third or four, we don't get left
- 2:53Speaker 1: off this time. We got left off on the tech rod,
- 2:55Speaker 1: we got left off on the on the information roud,
- 2:58Speaker 1: we will not get left off on the entrepreneur run
- 3:01Speaker 1: and I'm gonna I'm gonna make sure I'm part of
- 3:03Speaker 1: that Now. Each Money Making Conversation shows about entrepreneurship and entertainment,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I provide the consumer and business owner access to celebrity CEOs, entrepreneurs,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and industry decision makers. They in turn deliver information about
- 3:16Speaker 1: career planning, motivation, financial literacy, and how they leave their
- 3:20Speaker 1: balanced life. Is next person I've known many years because
- 3:25Speaker 1: I've been closely associated with Essence that she's been closerly
- 3:28Speaker 1: associated with the things I do in motivating young people
- 3:31Speaker 1: to be successful. One program, particularly to Disney Dreamers, I've
- 3:35Speaker 1: seen this young lady go on stage capped on the
- 3:37Speaker 1: show to go Go do your thing, and she just
- 3:40Speaker 1: goes up there. She goes up there and just talks
- 3:42Speaker 1: and motivation and articulates the values of success that young
- 3:46Speaker 1: people and adults need to hear on a regular basis.
- 3:49Speaker 1: She's the country's leading authority on inner and outer beauty
- 3:52Speaker 1: for women of color. With more than thirty years of
- 3:55Speaker 1: experience in media, Taylor is editor at law, editor at
- 3:59Speaker 1: large for Essence Magazine, and president of Satin Dog Production
- 4:03Speaker 1: a strategic branding, consulting and communications company critically acclaimed commander
- 4:09Speaker 1: in Chief. She's on the show today to talk about
- 4:12Speaker 1: her new book, Editor in Cheek. Please welcome to Money
- 4:16Speaker 1: Making Conversations, Micky Taylor. I'm so honored to be with
- 4:20Speaker 1: you today. Get these words right. I can get you
- 4:23Speaker 1: on a lot faster. I know that rong little horde
- 4:26Speaker 1: messing me up today. I can't go okay, you can't
- 4:28Speaker 1: even say c h I c You can't get that
- 4:31Speaker 1: out right, and they don't know doing with one of
- 4:34Speaker 1: the most articulate people. I know. That's what got me nervous.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You know, follower countries used to Texas accident. I gotta
- 4:41Speaker 1: I'm talking slowing down when I was supposed to speed
- 4:43Speaker 1: up and all that good stuff. How you doing, Micky Taylor?
- 4:46Speaker 1: How you doing? Oh? I'm doing fine? How about you?
- 4:49Speaker 1: And congratulations? Let me say that before I say anything.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Congratulations on the show. This is so necessary and you
- 4:57Speaker 1: know I'm looking forward to just listening. And because this
- 5:00Speaker 1: is a necessary conversation from a necessary authority, well, I
- 5:05Speaker 1: appreciate that, but I want you to do more talking
- 5:08Speaker 1: than listening. Because the reason I mentioned the fact that
- 5:11Speaker 1: I'm on HBCU campuses. I'm on Howard University campus for
- 5:15Speaker 1: my serious XM. And that was a plan of action
- 5:17Speaker 1: when I sat down, because I sat down with my
- 5:19Speaker 1: my peers. They go and my and my team in
- 5:21Speaker 1: the sponsors, and they go, who are you talking to, Roshane,
- 5:25Speaker 1: who are you gonna talk to us? I want to
- 5:26Speaker 1: talk to millennials eighteen to thirty four and I want
- 5:29Speaker 1: to be divars of HBCU campuses. They go, That's why
- 5:34Speaker 1: I said, because they need information and they needed from
- 5:37Speaker 1: an authority. And so I've been fortunate to get individuals
- 5:41Speaker 1: like you who are authority, who is an authority who
- 5:44Speaker 1: are able to tell people what is your your first break?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Before we even get into the book that that you
- 5:49Speaker 1: that I've read, and I like, we were talking so
- 5:52Speaker 1: much before the interview, I was, I need to just
- 5:54Speaker 1: shut up talking and start this interview because you I've
- 5:59Speaker 1: seen your Disney dreams and not these people that you've
- 6:02Speaker 1: talked to Disney dreams or not in college and not
- 6:04Speaker 1: just HBCU campus but in colleges in general. But because
- 6:07Speaker 1: I am prominently on HBCU campus and you know you
- 6:10Speaker 1: are the authority inner and out of beauty for women
- 6:13Speaker 1: of color talk to me, you know which on what
- 6:16Speaker 1: I feel is so critical, particularly for this age group,
- 6:19Speaker 1: is for them to realize that they must be strategic
- 6:23Speaker 1: in their lives. Uh quite frankly, the ability to master
- 6:27Speaker 1: life and all that you're destined to be is inextricably
- 6:31Speaker 1: bound to how rich you are when it comes to
- 6:33Speaker 1: the inner meet And I really want to see them
- 6:37Speaker 1: make that investment, that internal investment in themselves, you know,
- 6:41Speaker 1: so that they can lead feelst and inspired lives. They
- 6:45Speaker 1: are creating a new script. It is resting upon their
- 6:48Speaker 1: shoulders to do so, and they need to be informed.
- 6:51Speaker 1: They need to really map out the destiny and the
- 6:53Speaker 1: road that they want to take. One of the other
- 6:56Speaker 1: things I say in the book that I think is
- 6:58Speaker 1: so essential is that you need a celebration circle. Each
- 7:02Speaker 1: of them needs to have those strategic groups, a group
- 7:05Speaker 1: of people around them, because your greatness was not designed
- 7:09Speaker 1: to operate in isolation. So it's one thing to have
- 7:13Speaker 1: a dream, it's one thing to have a vision. But
- 7:15Speaker 1: what's critical, particularly for millennials, because they are living in
- 7:19Speaker 1: this high touch age, but what it has uh fatit
- 7:23Speaker 1: in them is that they become a low touch community.
- 7:26Speaker 1: They really don't connect well with others, you know, certainly
- 7:30Speaker 1: not on the level that they need to as they
- 7:32Speaker 1: pursue their dreams and goals. But you know, in today's society,
- 7:37Speaker 1: you really do have to take credit for what you do.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And you have to realize that God gave you an
- 7:43Speaker 1: opportunity to do something unique except it. Yes, that's exactly right,
- 7:49Speaker 1: and say thank you, own it, you know, step into it,
- 7:53Speaker 1: be be really clear, because you know, God created us
- 7:57Speaker 1: in a view that was pretty intentional. And you know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: as I say in the book, invalidating each of us,
- 8:03Speaker 1: he gave us a Genesis statement, gave us a seven
- 8:06Speaker 1: truth and you know, the one that inspires me the
- 8:09Speaker 1: most is it says that you and I are unprecedented.
- 8:13Speaker 1: That means that nothing like us ever was or ever
- 8:16Speaker 1: will be. And so you have to not shrink back
- 8:20Speaker 1: from what I call that divine witness that is you.
- 8:24Speaker 1: You know, you gotta say thank you, You gotta own it,
- 8:26Speaker 1: you gotta be comfortable in it. It is validated by
- 8:30Speaker 1: the creator um you know, the earth and that holds
- 8:34Speaker 1: the seas in their places. So that is uh greatness
- 8:38Speaker 1: and you have to let that be your your acceptance
- 8:41Speaker 1: of that be your non negotiable platform sup apologizing when
- 8:45Speaker 1: people compliment you. You know, I look at women sometimes
- 8:48Speaker 1: and you know, someone will say, oh, that's a bad
- 8:50Speaker 1: pass shoes. I love those shoes, and they'll say thank you,
- 8:53Speaker 1: and they're gritted from inny ear. Someone will compliment them
- 8:56Speaker 1: and they'll say, oh, well, uh well they I apologize it. Now.
- 9:01Speaker 1: How could the shoes have more going on than you?
- 9:05Speaker 1: How how could the shoes have more going on than you?
- 9:13Speaker 1: How could you say thank you about the shoes and
- 9:16Speaker 1: then somebody creeks, thanks, uh says something compliments you about
- 9:21Speaker 1: your greatness, and you're gonna start apologizing. I don't understand that.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't understand that. And so that tells me that
- 9:30Speaker 1: we have to be stopped shrinking back and be in
- 9:33Speaker 1: full except acceptance of who God created each of us
- 9:37Speaker 1: to be. And for that matter, we gotta fire our
- 9:39Speaker 1: own inner critics. You know, we've got to go inside
- 9:42Speaker 1: and challenge anything that in us, that we've stamped ourselves
- 9:46Speaker 1: with that isn't an agreement with that, because you can't
- 9:50Speaker 1: move forward. That's a thumbling block. And so you gotta
- 9:53Speaker 1: you gotta have, you gotta see yourself in where you'll
- 9:56Speaker 1: create a se issue you can't afford to look at it. No,
- 9:59Speaker 1: no different. I don't believe that empowered each of us,
- 10:05Speaker 1: each of us. For us to become disempowered by our
- 10:09Speaker 1: own characteristic thoughts, by our own shyness and fear and
- 10:13Speaker 1: worry about what others would think. We need to stop that.
- 10:17Speaker 1: That's a that's a bad audition process at that. I'm I'm,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I'm and I'm guess what ru Sean McDonald's exactly as
- 10:25Speaker 1: successful as I am. I did that. I will go.
- 10:29Speaker 1: You tell me my suit was sharp more I was like,
- 10:32Speaker 1: whoa I put I put a little dance on, you know, yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 1: the shoes, the tie, you know, the vans. But you
- 10:39Speaker 1: and you tell every man that was cold? Did you
- 10:41Speaker 1: close with that family feud? Uh? You know? Well you
- 10:44Speaker 1: know you know right right right, you know your Neighborhood
- 10:49Speaker 1: Awards was cold? You you created that way, you know, Uh,
- 10:51Speaker 1: you know Steve hosted with me, you know we were
- 10:53Speaker 1: could we could? We could? And yeah I never stepped
- 10:56Speaker 1: out there and and and so I totally agree with you.
- 10:59Speaker 1: And I want to put myself out there personally because
- 11:02Speaker 1: to let people know that even levels of success, people
- 11:05Speaker 1: like me. Who people deem is Okay, he's he's confident,
- 11:10Speaker 1: he's outspoken. Have have a coward when it came to
- 11:14Speaker 1: accepting responsibility for the paths I've created and the deals
- 11:18Speaker 1: I made. That's that has to stop. That's stop, especially
- 11:22Speaker 1: in the African American community, especially in Africa. Yes, yes,
- 11:26Speaker 1: and I mean you know on on of course, the
- 11:29Speaker 1: buying assignment created to do this. Thank you two words,
- 11:34Speaker 1: thank you. Stop. We don't want to be having no
- 11:36Speaker 1: disclaimers about the power and the gifts that we possessed.
- 11:41Speaker 1: No disclaimers. Thank you. I'm gonna about this book. That's
- 11:45Speaker 1: why it's important people understand this book. This book about
- 11:48Speaker 1: inner and outer. Okay, it's important that you understand that because,
- 11:52Speaker 1: like I said, I had the outer downpath. You know,
- 11:55Speaker 1: I walk in the room, people know who I was.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I remember I went to I went to an agency
- 11:59Speaker 1: in l a big big agency in the l A
- 12:01Speaker 1: and they were representing it. And the guy said, okay,
- 12:03Speaker 1: he said, we have a problem with you Rashan. I said,
- 12:06Speaker 1: what do you mean. He said, Lisa's just sitting this wrong.
- 12:09Speaker 1: He brought in up a literary agent. He brought in
- 12:12Speaker 1: a personal parents agent, he brought in a film agent,
- 12:16Speaker 1: he brought in the TV agent, and he said, uh,
- 12:19Speaker 1: he said, all these people are you? All those people
- 12:24Speaker 1: are you? He said, no, We've never seen anybody like
- 12:29Speaker 1: you that you. He said, we can bring a lawyer
- 12:31Speaker 1: in there too, you know, because you do deals. And
- 12:34Speaker 1: so so I didn't realize what I was doing and
- 12:37Speaker 1: then appreciate a respect what I was doing. But the
- 12:39Speaker 1: whole industry knew what I was doing. They understood that
- 12:42Speaker 1: was a unique brain I was. And so when when
- 12:44Speaker 1: I read a book like this that tells me, Okay,
- 12:47Speaker 1: if you don't have your inside motivations straight, you can
- 12:51Speaker 1: be successful, but you may not blossom to the level
- 12:56Speaker 1: that you can't be because you're not accepting who you are.
- 13:00Speaker 1: That's right, that's right, That's exactly right. That's why I
- 13:03Speaker 1: had to have you on my show, Mickey, because I
- 13:04Speaker 1: needed a nickeyism. I need the mickeyism in my life
- 13:08Speaker 1: to get Rashaan right. And then everybody read this book HBCU,
- 13:13Speaker 1: how will University, Texas, Southern University, Fixed, University of Houston,
- 13:17Speaker 1: Georgia Tech, Alabama University. Niggeyisms will change your life. That's
- 13:22Speaker 1: what's in this book, Mickey, tell them how to find
- 13:24Speaker 1: this book? Tell them how to find this book. Bro
- 13:26Speaker 1: Oh my god. So so you could find it at
- 13:29Speaker 1: bookstores nationwide, Barns and Noble, you name it. You could
- 13:33Speaker 1: find it on Amazon dot com. You can order a
- 13:36Speaker 1: direct from Simon and Schuster. But again, I wrote this
- 13:40Speaker 1: book because I want us to lead feelings at its
- 13:42Speaker 1: fired lives and as God would have it, it is
- 13:45Speaker 1: every place we are. So I I'm just so thankful
- 13:49Speaker 1: for Sean that you have shared this message. It is
- 13:51Speaker 1: this book is about us h for such a time?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Is this you know? It's really important because you know,
- 13:58Speaker 1: as I do radio, I'm starting to be more I'm
- 14:00Speaker 1: more honest with myself. You know who am I talking about?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Who are who am I talking to? Another? I should say,
- 14:06Speaker 1: because of the fact that you know you can get
- 14:08Speaker 1: in the box and be surrounded by fear about if
- 14:12Speaker 1: I say this, how would people react? I'm gonna tell
- 14:15Speaker 1: you something. You won't know how they react just until
- 14:18Speaker 1: you say it or you do it. But do it
- 14:20Speaker 1: consistently and they were respected. And that's what I try
- 14:24Speaker 1: to tell people all time. Be respectful and be reconsistent,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and people will rise up to what you're trying to
- 14:30Speaker 1: communicate on the regular basis, and that's all you're doing
- 14:32Speaker 1: in this book and this book, and I wanted let's
- 14:35Speaker 1: let you know that you go, you're special, nicky and uh,
- 14:39Speaker 1: this is gonna go on podcast. I'm gonna get a
- 14:41Speaker 1: banner from your book company to put it on my
- 14:43Speaker 1: social media. I just wanted to talk to you again.
- 14:45Speaker 1: I get a dose of mechanism and I want to
- 14:47Speaker 1: have a conversation that you affected my life, Roshan McDonald,
- 14:51Speaker 1: and don't stop affecting a lot of Rashan McDonald's out there,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and Rashida's and uh could look col equals and uh
- 14:58Speaker 1: and Shila's out there, because that's what you do. You
- 15:01Speaker 1: affect people in and out of you, all the authority
- 15:04Speaker 1: women of color. We'll be right back with more from
- 15:08Speaker 1: Marsa McDonald the Money Making Conversations. Don't touch that dog, Hi,

- 17:29Speaker 1: around and find out who to talk to, to find

- 17:47Speaker 1: one of my posts. That's how good we are. My
- 17:50Speaker 1: next guest is the founder and CEO of my Financial
- 17:54Speaker 1: Home Enterprise and Global Financial Consultant. Let me get you straight.
- 17:58Speaker 1: My next guest the founder and CEO of my Financial
- 18:01Speaker 1: Home Enterprise and Global Financial Consultancy firm providing comprehensive accounting, tax,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and financial management services for businesses and individuals. The Women
- 18:12Speaker 1: of Wealth dubbed her Wealth Builder Extraordinaire, and she was
- 18:16Speaker 1: awarded a President's Lifetime Achievement Award by President o' Barack Obama.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Please welcome to the Money Making Conversation, Dr Cosette White,
- 18:26Speaker 1: Good morning, how's everyone doing? How are you? Rashaan? Well?
- 18:29Speaker 1: Good because you know you can say everyone, because I
- 18:31Speaker 1: got my booth is packed in here. You know you're
- 18:33Speaker 1: you're only gonna be talking to me though, but they're
- 18:35Speaker 1: staring at me though. They're making sure you don't make
- 18:38Speaker 1: any mistakes. You know, they get pushing buttons and closing curtains,
- 18:41Speaker 1: so I won't sweat in the booth, you know, because
- 18:43Speaker 1: the outdoor light gets too heavy on me, too hot.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Give me some, give me some what. So it's great
- 18:49Speaker 1: I finally got you on my show. I always see
- 18:51Speaker 1: you on LinkedIn. I searched your profile and see what
- 18:54Speaker 1: you're doing, this White, So tell me to tell everybody
- 18:57Speaker 1: what you do. And then we're gonna get a detail
- 18:58Speaker 1: about a number of questions that I have outlined that
- 19:01Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you about. Tell us about. Yes,
- 19:06Speaker 1: I love this well, Dr Cosette M. White. I help
- 19:09Speaker 1: individuals gain clarity and focus with their finances. I also
- 19:13Speaker 1: help thousands of taxpayers who owe the I r s
- 19:18Speaker 1: but simply can't afford to pay the I r s.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So I provide benefits such as pain and relief um
- 19:25Speaker 1: from the I r S and just help individuals regain
- 19:28Speaker 1: their normal sleep habits back by helping them reduce that
- 19:31Speaker 1: tax liability. I'm also an author of Unveiling the Mask,
- 19:36Speaker 1: as well as a best selling author of Attracting the Best.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So I play with numbers all day. That's what I do.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Which what is your degree? End? Then my degree is
- 19:45Speaker 1: a mathematics I will admit I don't play with numbers
- 19:48Speaker 1: all day. If you give me a math problem, I
- 19:51Speaker 1: might get in a fight with you because you're trying
- 19:53Speaker 1: to make me look bad. My my undergraduate degree is
- 19:58Speaker 1: in accounting and sent accounting. Then I have my master's
- 20:01Speaker 1: degree in business administration. So let me ask you this.
- 20:04Speaker 1: When you said people who you said? You said you
- 20:06Speaker 1: you do taxes right, and you taxes with people who
- 20:10Speaker 1: owe money? Did you say that yes the I R S. Okay,
- 20:13Speaker 1: Now what does that mean? Like? So when I file,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know, my goal is not to owe. How do
- 20:18Speaker 1: you wind up owing? The I R S? Oh? My goodness,
- 20:22Speaker 1: there's a number of different ways that people owe. Um,
- 20:25Speaker 1: the I R S they get themselves in trouble. Maybe
- 20:28Speaker 1: there are um, an entrepreneur employed, and maybe they're not
- 20:33Speaker 1: paying taxes. They're making the income, but they're not paying
- 20:36Speaker 1: the taxes. They're not paying quarterly taxes, they're not paying
- 20:40Speaker 1: anything to the internal revenue throughout the year. And then
- 20:43Speaker 1: all of a sudden they owe this big large sum
- 20:45Speaker 1: hundred thousand, fifty thousand, you know, whatever that number may
- 20:49Speaker 1: look like. And um, they're not sleeping well because the
- 20:52Speaker 1: I R S is sending them notices and knocking on
- 20:55Speaker 1: their doors, and we want our money. Like I I
- 20:58Speaker 1: have paychecks the service I use and because if otherwise,
- 21:03Speaker 1: I'd probably be a person who owes the government because
- 21:06Speaker 1: they take all the money out. They take money out
- 21:08Speaker 1: of my account and out of the account they pay
- 21:10Speaker 1: the employee, and they pay the government that the taxes
- 21:13Speaker 1: that are due to the government. And that's a good
- 21:15Speaker 1: way to protect yourself. Correct, Yes, a very good way
- 21:19Speaker 1: have that. They have it automatically come out of the check.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Now let me let me now, Dr White, I'm that
- 21:26Speaker 1: from that person in trouble. I've come to you and
- 21:29Speaker 1: I owe money. I don't have any money. What do
- 21:34Speaker 1: you do for me? How do you How do you
- 21:35Speaker 1: save a guy who started a small business or an
- 21:39Speaker 1: individual who got a love bonus and didn't do the
- 21:42Speaker 1: taxes on the bonus like he was supposed to. Kept
- 21:45Speaker 1: saying he was gonna do it, kept saying she was
- 21:47Speaker 1: gonna do it, but they didn't do it. End of
- 21:48Speaker 1: the year, by all those taxes they or a thousand dollars,
- 21:52Speaker 1: how ten thousand dollars? How do they recover from something
- 21:54Speaker 1: like that when they come to you, because they also
- 21:56Speaker 1: got to pay you for your services? Correct? Exactly they
- 22:00Speaker 1: have to pay for the services. Well, there's something that
- 22:03Speaker 1: the I R S caused, the debt forgiveness plan, and
- 22:06Speaker 1: there's certain criterias that an individual must fall into in
- 22:09Speaker 1: order to uh fall into one of the plans. The
- 22:13Speaker 1: first one is of course the offer and compromise program.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Then of course you know we can fall into the
- 22:19Speaker 1: partial payment installment plans, but who wants to pay partial
- 22:23Speaker 1: and partial um partial pay installments? And then there's the
- 22:27Speaker 1: penalty abatement. So when clients come to me, I usually
- 22:31Speaker 1: go through an analysis to figure out if they qualify.
- 22:34Speaker 1: First of offer any of the programs that forgiveness programs
- 22:37Speaker 1: that the I R S is offering, and then from
- 22:40Speaker 1: there we look at their financial situation and then do
- 22:43Speaker 1: an analysis to say, hey, is this something that the
- 22:46Speaker 1: I R S will approve? Um. I don't stick a
- 22:48Speaker 1: client into any of the programs that the I R
- 22:52Speaker 1: S offers unless I know that I am going to
- 22:56Speaker 1: have a great success rate. My success rate and setting
- 23:00Speaker 1: debt is about so if I don't think that I
- 23:04Speaker 1: can settle, then I'm not gonna get you through. I'm
- 23:06Speaker 1: not gonna even try to play with you. I'm gonna
- 23:08Speaker 1: be honest upfront and say I don't think we can
- 23:11Speaker 1: win with this one, but that's that's what I do.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I try to put them in one of the three
- 23:17Speaker 1: debt forgiveness programs, so you are honest, You're not there
- 23:20Speaker 1: just were all these business to make money. But you're
- 23:23Speaker 1: not gonna lead somebody down the rabbit hole like you
- 23:26Speaker 1: can do something with them, and you see the odds
- 23:28Speaker 1: of them winning. It's just you getting paid or getting
- 23:31Speaker 1: them more debt because they owe you now, because they
- 23:33Speaker 1: owe the government, They're definitely not gonna pay you. You
- 23:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. No, you know what. One thing
- 23:38Speaker 1: with Shawn, I'm all about honesty and integrity in the
- 23:42Speaker 1: business that I'm in. It's really about building relationships. And
- 23:46Speaker 1: the more positive relationships that I build, the more my
- 23:50Speaker 1: business is gonna grow. I'm not gonna lead you down
- 23:53Speaker 1: the road path and say hey, I can get you
- 23:55Speaker 1: through this, knowing that I can't. I've been before the
- 23:58Speaker 1: i RS too many times, so I know what will
- 24:00Speaker 1: pass and I know well what will not pass. Okay,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I love about this interview. Your
- 24:07Speaker 1: voice you had that you know, you had that doctor
- 24:09Speaker 1: type voice, that bedside manner. You know you you you.
- 24:13Speaker 1: If I came at your offer, you would make me
- 24:15Speaker 1: believe I'm gonna get my money back. I'm gonna go
- 24:17Speaker 1: the government gonna leave me alone. I'll just tell you
- 24:18Speaker 1: the truth now, because I've been noticing that going. I
- 24:21Speaker 1: don't know any money. I want to I want to
- 24:22Speaker 1: sign you up for something. You know, call my white baby,
- 24:26Speaker 1: we or anybody, because I met the doctor coach, that
- 24:29Speaker 1: white thing. I think she. I think we can use her. Boy.
- 24:32Speaker 1: We don't nobody any money, but you need to listen
- 24:34Speaker 1: to her voice. Her voice will hypnotize you to believe
- 24:38Speaker 1: that you were right and the government was wrong. Say
- 24:45Speaker 1: that because you've been called the financial physician. Exactly. I'm
- 24:52Speaker 1: not the only one saying that. People aren't making your laugh,
- 24:55Speaker 1: but you've been called the financial physician because of your technique,
- 24:59Speaker 1: your style, your bedside manner. Tell me, when you get
- 25:03Speaker 1: a title like that, what responsibility comes with it? A
- 25:07Speaker 1: lot comes with it, because when you just think about
- 25:10Speaker 1: the words physician, you know people are looking at me
- 25:12Speaker 1: in a different manner. So um again, as I said,
- 25:17Speaker 1: when I was coined the financial physician, it was just
- 25:19Speaker 1: one of those things that individuals came to me because
- 25:22Speaker 1: I've been able to diagnose the situation, seriously diagnose. It's
- 25:29Speaker 1: just being able to diagnose the financial situation and help
- 25:33Speaker 1: people get out of the problems that they're in. UM.
- 25:36Speaker 1: And we're not just talking about what taxes. We're talking
- 25:39Speaker 1: about our business owners who may be stuck in a
- 25:43Speaker 1: in a rut as well. Maybe their numbers aren't panning
- 25:46Speaker 1: out the way that they want and maybe their their
- 25:49Speaker 1: their profit margins aren't where they want them to be.
- 25:52Speaker 1: But just being able to really clearly look at the
- 25:54Speaker 1: numbers and say, hey, let's shift things a little bit
- 25:56Speaker 1: and maybe this this will work. So UM, just being
- 26:01Speaker 1: able to really really, as I said, diagnosed situations as
- 26:04Speaker 1: it relates to money. Rashan, I'm not gonna play around
- 26:07Speaker 1: with nothing else but the numbers. This is really interesting
- 26:10Speaker 1: because when you came out of college, did you go
- 26:14Speaker 1: work for someone that did you go immediately into a
- 26:17Speaker 1: small business platform. No. When I came out of college,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I worked in corporate America, and actually, truth be told,
- 26:24Speaker 1: I stayed in corporate America for twenty years. UM. I
- 26:27Speaker 1: had the business as well as working in corporate America,
- 26:31Speaker 1: and I kept saying I need to really get from
- 26:33Speaker 1: underneath his corporate job, because I have so much, so
- 26:37Speaker 1: much talent, you know, God has gifted me, and why
- 26:41Speaker 1: am I staying here? But something just kept pulling at
- 26:43Speaker 1: me to stay there with corporate and UM. Eventually I
- 26:48Speaker 1: just said, Hey, I need to take this jump, and
- 26:50Speaker 1: I did. I took the leap, and I stepped out
- 26:53Speaker 1: on face and I began to grow the business. And
- 26:56Speaker 1: the thing that um Struggle wrote, I talked about that
- 27:00Speaker 1: in my life a lot, you know, because of the
- 27:02Speaker 1: fact that even when you're successful, there is struggle road.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And so you're just telling people in your book and
- 27:08Speaker 1: reading your book and running your business and living your
- 27:11Speaker 1: life being a single mom overcoming the odds. It's just
- 27:14Speaker 1: be honest with yourself first and then tell the world
- 27:17Speaker 1: this is who I am. And we can tell people
- 27:19Speaker 1: this is who I am. Understand that success will come
- 27:22Speaker 1: that way because I'm telling you the truth. If you
- 27:25Speaker 1: tell the people the truth, then they know who you're
- 27:27Speaker 1: dealing with, you can overcome. I'm just telling people in general,
- 27:29Speaker 1: kind of getting my soap box right now. DR Why
- 27:32Speaker 1: is that I tell people in generals that if you
- 27:35Speaker 1: tell people who you are and you believe who you are,
- 27:38Speaker 1: then you can win. You tell people who you think
- 27:41Speaker 1: they want to believe you are, you will not win.
- 27:44Speaker 1: It'll be short term success, long term failure. So coming
- 27:48Speaker 1: out of box and writing about these truths allowed me
- 27:52Speaker 1: to believe that your success is not gonna stop and
- 27:55Speaker 1: every award that you've achieved so far will only get bigger.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Now you're in the Rushan McDonald, you know you rolling nicker,
- 28:01Speaker 1: You're rolling to make a conversation, got you? So tell
- 28:07Speaker 1: everybody about the book and uh and also I'm gonna
- 28:09Speaker 1: bring you back on the show in the month of July.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's a guarantee, O what, I've read your book and
- 28:13Speaker 1: we'll talk differently. But tell everybody how they can get
- 28:15Speaker 1: your book, and I they can contact you about your business. Absolutely,
- 28:19Speaker 1: you guys can get the book. It's at Barnes and
- 28:21Speaker 1: Noble as well as Amazon dot com, or you can

- 28:35Speaker 1: for you. It's c o Z as in zebra e

- 30:52Speaker 1: the two of the three teams. Ago he found the
- 30:57Speaker 1: music at the Monument Monument in the further, the National
- 31:00Speaker 1: Park Services Healthy Parks, Healthy People initiative which encourages underrepresented
- 31:06Speaker 1: groups like veterans, which I think it's amazing, youth and
- 31:09Speaker 1: minorities to use our national parks and monument grounds. Please
- 31:13Speaker 1: welcome to money making conversations. Darryl Haley. There, I got
- 31:19Speaker 1: your laughing boy you before you saying to me, you're
- 31:20Speaker 1: you're supposed to maintain man, you're supposed to laughing, laughing, quiet,
- 31:24Speaker 1: just man, you know, just giggling in the background. If
- 31:29Speaker 1: anybody knows you, you can do for you to think
- 31:34Speaker 1: that it's just sticking me a little bit. Well good,
- 31:37Speaker 1: let me let me ask you this there from the start, okay,
- 31:39Speaker 1: you let's talk about the the triathletes. You know what
- 31:43Speaker 1: exactly is that is that sport all about? It? Was
- 31:46Speaker 1: it bicyclariety, swimming and running? Right? Okay, yes it's all three.
- 31:51Speaker 1: But they go to through the order first she goes swim.
- 31:54Speaker 1: You have a two point yeah, I take this all right?
- 31:57Speaker 1: You got a two point sward open ocean waters it
- 32:00Speaker 1: so I don't need back your the pool. It's open
- 32:02Speaker 1: on shorter swim. Then you come out of the water,
- 32:04Speaker 1: you up on your bike and you're riding. Okay, okay,
- 32:07Speaker 1: give me a sith right there. You hop on the
- 32:08Speaker 1: bike with a wet butt. Yeah, yeah, because I just
- 32:14Speaker 1: riding a bike with a dry button. It's already hard.
- 32:18Speaker 1: Now you're gonna you're gonna hop on a bicycle seat
- 32:21Speaker 1: with a with a just grinding for how many miles?
- 32:25Speaker 1: How many miles? Miles? Tickets? You gotta go for a hundred,
- 32:30Speaker 1: you gotta go hundred, and come on down, come on down.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Let's let's be truthful. Now, let's be truth because you
- 32:39Speaker 1: got you no no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I don't want to food. This close women is water.
- 32:53Speaker 1: So you do a hundred miles plus on the bike
- 32:56Speaker 1: and then you get and what happens. That's after you
- 33:00Speaker 1: battle the head wind, heat and humidity. Then you get
- 33:03Speaker 1: up to mike and you go for a nice twenty
- 33:05Speaker 1: six point two mile run, which is basically your standard marathon. Okay, now, okay,
- 33:12Speaker 1: I will tell you where you lost me. First of all,
- 33:14Speaker 1: I can't swim so already there, you know, I can't
- 33:17Speaker 1: even start the race that now. I could probably put
- 33:20Speaker 1: on one of the little one of the little life jackets.
- 33:22Speaker 1: I'm with you. I'll probably catch you on that bike.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But I'm doing right now. When it comes to running,
- 33:28Speaker 1: they're gonna have to peddle me in one of the
- 33:29Speaker 1: little rikishaws. Just god, just running a bot me. I'm
- 33:33Speaker 1: going by, Darryl, I'll see you the Fritish life. Brother.
- 33:36Speaker 1: This is how we're gonna end it on this one
- 33:38Speaker 1: because many how many have you done? How many have
- 33:41Speaker 1: you done Darrel? How many I've done it? Close and
- 33:44Speaker 1: probably thirty. Uh And the cool part about it, I've
- 33:48Speaker 1: done them over all around the world, you know, so
- 33:51Speaker 1: that uh I know him in Germany. I done him
- 33:53Speaker 1: in for that. It didn't Mark, I done done over
- 33:55Speaker 1: in the Canary Islands. I've done them over in Germany. Uh.
- 33:58Speaker 1: So they mean they take your place on around the
- 34:00Speaker 1: world man. And it's absolutely fascinating and actually is going
- 34:03Speaker 1: to lead into a lot of things we're gonna talk
- 34:05Speaker 1: about today about making money, because there's a lot of
- 34:08Speaker 1: money to be made. See there, I know how this
- 34:11Speaker 1: conversation goes man, Well, you know, come on, let's go
- 34:14Speaker 1: and talk about this money making conversation, how money to
- 34:16Speaker 1: be made? Because what I try to tell people, because
- 34:19Speaker 1: especially people in the African American community, we have such
- 34:22Speaker 1: a limited scope on our value and how money is
- 34:25Speaker 1: being made, and we get left out of the technology world.
- 34:27Speaker 1: We get left out of the you know, automative of cars,
- 34:31Speaker 1: the drones out there, the tech world, the app world,
- 34:34Speaker 1: and there are so many ways. We want to start
- 34:37Speaker 1: a restaurant business, we wanna start a car wash business,
- 34:39Speaker 1: we gonna start a barbecue service, We're gonna start a
- 34:41Speaker 1: delivery service, a lot of stuff that really, the world
- 34:44Speaker 1: has gotten so big that the opportunities are even bigger
- 34:47Speaker 1: for you to go there. And if you if you
- 34:49Speaker 1: come there with a plan of a small business SBA,
- 34:52Speaker 1: they got something for you there to help you win.
- 34:54Speaker 1: And so with that being said, tell us about this
- 34:56Speaker 1: transition transitional dollar that you're talking about. Yeah, but I
- 35:00Speaker 1: think first of all, you know, people understand there's making money,
- 35:03Speaker 1: that there's making money and then uh to support your lifestyle,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and then there's making money to support you know, you're lineage.
- 35:12Speaker 1: And so when you did get to talk about the
- 35:14Speaker 1: sort of trapthlon. If you let at a bicycle, just
- 35:16Speaker 1: take a bike. You got you get brakes, you got tires,
- 35:18Speaker 1: you got rims, you got seats. Just give all the too,
- 35:20Speaker 1: the components. Everybody's not gonna go to college. But here's
- 35:23Speaker 1: the beauty of it. I have talked to people and
- 35:26Speaker 1: they said, well, hey, look I'm not going to do
- 35:27Speaker 1: this trapp one thing because you know that's something black
- 35:30Speaker 1: people do. You roll. First of all, when I was
- 35:33Speaker 1: doing Trathlons, I was probably one of very few African
- 35:36Speaker 1: Americans going there. And then to the six six three
- 35:40Speaker 1: the pounds from the former mainstream sport is football. You're
- 35:43Speaker 1: definitely a unique piece doing it all by yourself that
- 35:50Speaker 1: it doesn't mate. You don't even see the bike seat
- 35:52Speaker 1: no more. You know, you don't tell you down to
- 36:00Speaker 1: the thing about I watched triathletes. I want that's that's
- 36:02Speaker 1: one of my favorite sports because you know, you get
- 36:04Speaker 1: out the water, you see a little number writing on
- 36:06Speaker 1: your leg and on your shoulder. That's how they identify you.
- 36:09Speaker 1: And then you hop on that bike and you rolling.
- 36:11Speaker 1: After that, they move move a little goggles from your eye,
- 36:14Speaker 1: you know, you know, because you put them goggles in
- 36:15Speaker 1: your eyes won't be read, you won't be messed up
- 36:17Speaker 1: without saltwater. Drop them all and then you weren't gonna
- 36:20Speaker 1: see the crazy part about it. People don't realize that
- 36:22Speaker 1: saltwater drives out and there's salt just you wouldn't want
- 36:26Speaker 1: to get dry. That saltwater drives you out. So you
- 36:29Speaker 1: have to deal with that adversity when you're peddling that
- 36:31Speaker 1: bike as well. Yeah, man, that's some things you can
- 36:34Speaker 1: do to help that a little bit. But we're talking
- 36:36Speaker 1: about that online. So let's get TV here. The number
- 36:42Speaker 1: of the number of minorities participating in the trial as
- 36:44Speaker 1: a triathlete, and the triathlete events are very few as
- 36:47Speaker 1: we know, right so also so so already walking value already,
- 36:55Speaker 1: So here's a really good fun once you understand the sport.
- 36:57Speaker 1: As you're racing, your left side your most valuable side.
- 37:01Speaker 1: So when I was racing, I didn't have to walk
- 37:04Speaker 1: to generate revenue because you are unique. So you gotta
- 37:08Speaker 1: figure out what your own dollar value is. But you
- 37:11Speaker 1: have you have, you have the less out of your
- 37:13Speaker 1: biking short so you can put a sponsor, get the
- 37:15Speaker 1: less out of your bike, the less out of your body. Uh,
- 37:18Speaker 1: as you do interviews. You know, you got a quarter
- 37:21Speaker 1: page to half page a full page. You know, it's
- 37:23Speaker 1: easier for a sponsor to pay your money that they're
- 37:26Speaker 1: going to try and take a full page out of
- 37:28Speaker 1: Sports Illustrated. Sports Illustrated sous some a hundred thousand dollars.
- 37:32Speaker 1: But you may cause them do the math. It ain't complicated,
- 37:36Speaker 1: right and as sow the fact that there's more intimate
- 37:38Speaker 1: and also the fact that you are capturing the moment,
- 37:40Speaker 1: you're captured in the moment or the moment of the
- 37:42Speaker 1: action and it's being applied that way. So are you
- 37:45Speaker 1: still involved as as as a as a participant? Are
- 37:49Speaker 1: are you just what are you doing with with that
- 37:51Speaker 1: sport now? Sir? Well, this Wanter Trackler, I'm still involved
- 37:54Speaker 1: that participant. I'm trying to spread my trying and I
- 37:56Speaker 1: am spreading a word with it for more kids in youth,
- 38:00Speaker 1: but not necessarily just as a sport, but also the
- 38:03Speaker 1: former stem because they can lead into that whole particular
- 38:06Speaker 1: area because of the technology involved in sport, you know,
- 38:09Speaker 1: still is a very vital piece of it. So it's
- 38:11Speaker 1: a great way to get kids interested in school and
- 38:14Speaker 1: going to school and they're also helping kids sign their
- 38:16Speaker 1: own purpose in the wrong way. We'll see that. The
- 38:18Speaker 1: reason I really I think I gotta I get a
- 38:21Speaker 1: lot of former football players are current football players on
- 38:24Speaker 1: this show because I want to always say there is
- 38:27Speaker 1: intelligence underneath that helmet, because there's such a physical force
- 38:30Speaker 1: sport that people think that they're just brutes. For football
- 38:33Speaker 1: players just brutes and it's just out there to collide
- 38:35Speaker 1: and hurt each other. But also you, I wanted to
- 38:37Speaker 1: bring up the iron man triathlete part of you. But
- 38:40Speaker 1: also you operate a bed and breakfast in Virginia outside
- 38:43Speaker 1: of DC called Darren Haley Bedding Breakfast. Tell us about that. Man,
- 38:47Speaker 1: See a lot of people don't know you got that
- 38:48Speaker 1: going on to now you we have me talking with
- 38:51Speaker 1: what you called about. But I want to get this.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I got two breaks with your dad. I can do
- 38:55Speaker 1: with this money made conversation. I gotta talked about money
- 38:57Speaker 1: before I start talking about chance. Yeah, well, you know
- 39:02Speaker 1: the bed and breakfast. It came up because one, I
- 39:05Speaker 1: really do thoroughly enjoy people. But you know, you also
- 39:09Speaker 1: got to figure out, you know, living close to watch
- 39:11Speaker 1: it in d C is one. It's close to botmore.
- 39:13Speaker 1: We get the Ravens and the Redskins. People like sports
- 39:16Speaker 1: and people like in uh, my bed and breakfasts album
- 39:18Speaker 1: there near the ship and do a national park. So
- 39:21Speaker 1: therefore hiking, biking and whatnot that like ben on doors.
- 39:24Speaker 1: So my bed and breakfast is on in that area,
- 39:26Speaker 1: which it gives me a cross sectional of all the people,
- 39:29Speaker 1: all colors, all races, all religions. I think one thing
- 39:33Speaker 1: we have to understand is that you cannot look at
- 39:36Speaker 1: making money by done with one particular culture. Okay, you
- 39:40Speaker 1: show the bed and breakfast is a lot of fun
- 39:43Speaker 1: and the three things we do fun, fitness and romance.
- 39:47Speaker 1: That's what we do. But here's what it gets fun.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I also like to bake. I love baking area. Now
- 39:55Speaker 1: don't get down. Yeah, come on. I have many come
- 39:59Speaker 1: up to d C with the bank. But now I'm
- 40:00Speaker 1: putting on you. Okay, come on, man, come on there. Okay,
- 40:05Speaker 1: you know my brother he lives that in the d
- 40:06Speaker 1: C area with fal Salon has some beauty salon. So
- 40:09Speaker 1: I might to come up there and visit you in
- 40:11Speaker 1: the couple. Seriously, I'm gonna come to see you. That
- 40:14Speaker 1: would be beautiful if we could do like a charity
- 40:17Speaker 1: bake off, I bring some desserts and we get some
- 40:20Speaker 1: more celebrities in the DC area for Because the fact
- 40:23Speaker 1: that you're doing things for veterans and the underserved, I
- 40:26Speaker 1: think it's amazing. So give us a little bit more detail.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Because you said you're shipping our product and the donations
- 40:31Speaker 1: are being being marched right back into your foundation. What
- 40:36Speaker 1: are you doing local? You don't need your local events,
- 40:37Speaker 1: a local banking, uh sales? What are you doing with
- 40:41Speaker 1: locally as yeah? And what we can do the same place.
- 40:44Speaker 1: So we do the concerts which is on the National Mall.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Would be will be a beautiful thing to me, would
- 40:50Speaker 1: be for some of the bakers in the local area.
- 40:53Speaker 1: And we do yourself. Okay, let's make some good Okay,
- 40:58Speaker 1: let's go to let's go to one of the countries
- 41:00Speaker 1: in the National Mall. Okay, there's Twitter, eight eight million
- 41:02Speaker 1: people who will be visiting the Leaking memorial doing Twitter.
- 41:06Speaker 1: And let's disciminate these big goods. Let people know that, hey,
- 41:09Speaker 1: you know he's baking cheese, baking. Here's some good goods,
- 41:13Speaker 1: and here's some good causes. We can't tell them. But
- 41:16Speaker 1: you didn't do donations. But at the end of the
- 41:17Speaker 1: day everybody can show their skill set and show their
- 41:21Speaker 1: they're big goods. I just think that would be absolutely saving. Okay,
- 41:25Speaker 1: I'm in there. I'm in okay. So I'm gonna get
- 41:28Speaker 1: some Mathew's gonna reach out to you and we're gonna
- 41:31Speaker 1: work this out where I bring some of my giant
- 41:33Speaker 1: mucky bread muffins or my carracake muffins or some of
- 41:37Speaker 1: my you know, because I know these things have to
- 41:38Speaker 1: be sellable or anything you can slice, like my coconut cake,
- 41:42Speaker 1: bacon pie, my sweet potato pie. You see what I'm saying.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I got the cheese cake. That am cheese cake. I'm
- 41:51Speaker 1: gonna get your hungry on the call here because I'm
- 41:54Speaker 1: not going down to the prude that I can bait.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I can bait. I'm just going out of money. I'm
- 41:59Speaker 1: going down to make money for your foundations, sir, so
- 42:01Speaker 1: we can change some lives. So I want you to
- 42:03Speaker 1: get in touch with you. Go get in touch with
- 42:05Speaker 1: you so we can plan a date. Probably gonna be
- 42:08Speaker 1: like in that that that late August time frame, looking
- 42:10Speaker 1: at my schedule and we lock it down and if
- 42:13Speaker 1: we get some mold local baker, let's just i got
- 42:15Speaker 1: some good friends down there, and let's go. Let's let's
- 42:17Speaker 1: turn this into an annual thing because it's for good
- 42:20Speaker 1: cause and you started fifteen. Let's keep building and making
- 42:23Speaker 1: this a bigger part of the momentum of changing people's lives.
- 42:26Speaker 1: That's your that's your mantral, that's your mission there. I
- 42:29Speaker 1: want to help you keep building it. Well, I'll tell
- 42:32Speaker 1: you one of the first things that you can also do.
- 42:33Speaker 1: If you can pull this off, we also are allowed
- 42:36Speaker 1: to within I permit, you can actually broadcast your show
- 42:40Speaker 1: the memorial. Okay, now he getting real especial that tell yourself,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna do something there. Let me tell We're gonna
- 42:49Speaker 1: have to talk off a little bit because you know
- 42:51Speaker 1: this a lot. We've talked about you on that bike
- 42:53Speaker 1: that threw a hundred pounds on that bike. You gotta
- 42:54Speaker 1: tell me about that store. Now you gotta tell them.
- 42:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna be broadcasting live. All I know is this,
- 42:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna sleep at bed and breakfast with the fun
- 43:02Speaker 1: romance and what was that other fun romance? And we
- 43:11Speaker 1: can make it happen, I know, my man. So there
- 43:13Speaker 1: I would have thank you for calling on the show.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Know that I am committed to the baking. I committed
- 43:18Speaker 1: to stand at the at your bed and breakfast. We're
- 43:21Speaker 1: gonna come down in August and we're gonna do a
- 43:23Speaker 1: bake sale. Get some publicity down there so people come

- 44:11Speaker 1: a gospel record for so many years, and I have

- 45:21Speaker 1: is my next guest. You know, because I think I'm
- 45:24Speaker 1: in shape, but I'm gonna tell you I'm not in shape.
- 45:27Speaker 1: When I when I stand next to this young man,
- 45:29Speaker 1: you know, if I got one of them on big
- 45:30Speaker 1: old posters on the wall, you know, the life size.
- 45:35Speaker 1: My next guest is an NFL legend. He's a high
- 45:38Speaker 1: Highsman trophy winner actor which I love, entrepreneur which I love,
- 45:43Speaker 1: and philanthropists. Please welcome to Money Making Conversations, Eddie George. Yeah,
- 45:48Speaker 1: how you doing, my man? Are you on the day.
- 45:50Speaker 1: I'm doing very very well, and thank you for coming
- 45:52Speaker 1: on my show. Because my show, I'm gonna just give
- 45:54Speaker 1: you a little short background on the show. What I'm
- 45:56Speaker 1: trying to do is, um, this is it's more like
- 45:59Speaker 1: I'm mentoring listeners and viewers on the show about listening
- 46:03Speaker 1: to successful CEOs, industry decision makers, h celebrities, UM and
- 46:09Speaker 1: small business entrepreneurs who are successful at a high level.
- 46:13Speaker 1: And what you guys give to them is the insight,
- 46:15Speaker 1: the motivation, the ups and downs that you have in life.
- 46:19Speaker 1: And also it's important to balance life. That I really
- 46:22Speaker 1: want to always emphasize that some things I failed in Eddie,
- 46:26Speaker 1: is that you know, I was just I was just
- 46:28Speaker 1: on that little rat wheel, you know, and they didn't
- 46:29Speaker 1: want to jump off because I feared I might miss
- 46:32Speaker 1: an opportunity though I feared I might lose the games
- 46:35Speaker 1: that I was making. Now I look at your life,
- 46:38Speaker 1: my man, and you know you were we were a
- 46:41Speaker 1: fearless football player. And and sometimes I've heard the announcer
- 46:44Speaker 1: say you're a man's man on the field, you know, physically,
- 46:48Speaker 1: just because you know you took a hit and you
- 46:50Speaker 1: came back from that. So but you also had a
- 46:54Speaker 1: foresight to say, I'm gonna have a balanced life. Talk
- 46:57Speaker 1: to us about that. And as we start this interview,
- 47:00Speaker 1: the balanced life, well, yeah, balanced life man, for me
- 47:04Speaker 1: was being unbalanced at first, figure out yourselves unbalanced, to
- 47:09Speaker 1: get balanced, and uh, a lot of things will put
- 47:12Speaker 1: you in check, to um, to put you in balance,
- 47:17Speaker 1: to make you aware of where you're out of sync.
- 47:21Speaker 1: For me, it was someone in my my my personal
- 47:25Speaker 1: life with my family, because sometimes you know when you're
- 47:29Speaker 1: pursuing a goal and get so caught up into that
- 47:33Speaker 1: specific goal and becomes almost like your idol. That's the
- 47:36Speaker 1: only thing you could see think about about it, and
- 47:38Speaker 1: that's fine, but there are other things that get um
- 47:43Speaker 1: get pushed to the side or ignored in the process
- 47:46Speaker 1: of that. Sometimes as your family, your life it's UM
- 47:50Speaker 1: the other other things that you love to do, it's
- 47:53Speaker 1: UM uh your your your spiritual life, and he kind
- 47:58Speaker 1: of you get lost in it, so you almost have
- 48:00Speaker 1: to I've had to really peel back to the onion
- 48:03Speaker 1: and say, okay, UM, one of the things that I
- 48:06Speaker 1: could do more efficiently, effectively and still enjoy my life.
- 48:10Speaker 1: You know. Unfortunately, you know, the last four or five years,
- 48:13Speaker 1: I've had to go to several funerals for loved ones
- 48:17Speaker 1: uh some teammates that were my age or younger, UM,
- 48:22Speaker 1: for family members, and it really really puts in perspectivele
- 48:26Speaker 1: what's important Like this, you look at the eulogy, you
- 48:29Speaker 1: look at the things they've accomplished, and that's stop. What's important.
- 48:32Speaker 1: It's really how you impacted others, what you've been able
- 48:36Speaker 1: to do to help someone else out, how you've been
- 48:38Speaker 1: able to passion with torch type, be able to inspire
- 48:41Speaker 1: other people, spending time with your family. Those are the
- 48:44Speaker 1: things that are really important in my life. So that's
- 48:47Speaker 1: UM in a nutshell what I try to do in
- 48:50Speaker 1: terms of really putting perspective and priorities and check while
- 48:55Speaker 1: also um being the best businessman or actor that I could.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Because living my life. Um, in that in that realm
- 49:05Speaker 1: supports that it helps that I become a better businessman,
- 49:09Speaker 1: become a better actor, a better teacher, better philanthropists. Because
- 49:12Speaker 1: I'm just simping with your life. That's important because so
- 49:15Speaker 1: you're basically telling us that you know, at one point
- 49:18Speaker 1: football was Yeah, the last four or five years has
- 49:24Speaker 1: caused you to to look at the look at life
- 49:26Speaker 1: through a different eye, a different lens. And and what
- 49:30Speaker 1: is that? What is that lens, Eddie? Well, that that
- 49:33Speaker 1: lens is to really approach your life for the sense
- 49:36Speaker 1: of gratitude because every day it gets every single day
- 49:39Speaker 1: that you wake up is an opportunity to get better
- 49:42Speaker 1: at something. To realize that you have a great and
- 49:45Speaker 1: greater purpose to achieve something. Um is a blessing from God.
- 49:49Speaker 1: You know, to have your health and you know, I
- 49:52Speaker 1: retired fifteen years ago, so this has been a process.
- 49:56Speaker 1: It's not like I jumped off the field yesterday or
- 49:59Speaker 1: five year as you go, but you look like you
- 50:01Speaker 1: look like you just jumped off the field. And appreciate that.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Everybody in the booths with when you
- 50:08Speaker 1: say fifty years, everybody booth went huh, Yeah, yeah, this
- 50:12Speaker 1: is not this is not a you know since that time,
- 50:15Speaker 1: you know, I've done quite a bit. You know, I've
- 50:17Speaker 1: had I've been a part of businesses I want. You
- 50:19Speaker 1: got my n b A. I've got my degree in
- 50:22Speaker 1: landscape architecture. I had my own business that I transitioned
- 50:26Speaker 1: three or four times, evolved three or four times into
- 50:31Speaker 1: you know, the things that I'm passionate about now in
- 50:33Speaker 1: my life. And it's it's it's an evolution, it's being
- 50:36Speaker 1: agile so forth. So you know, the lens that I
- 50:39Speaker 1: looked through today, it's a forty four year old man
- 50:43Speaker 1: is one of simon gratitude and understanding that I can't
- 50:47Speaker 1: do everything by myself, and nor do I want to.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And the things that I appreciate now are the simple
- 50:53Speaker 1: things and life. And that's just getting a great health
- 50:58Speaker 1: report from the doctors or freaking up and I can see, hear,
- 51:01Speaker 1: touch it, feel I can I can get out of
- 51:04Speaker 1: my bed and walk comfortably to the bathroom. That things
- 51:10Speaker 1: are really are really a blessing in life. When you
- 51:13Speaker 1: look at, um, what's going on in this world? And
- 51:16Speaker 1: when we say that reference that we have the reference
- 51:18Speaker 1: c TE, you know which is which is really came
- 51:20Speaker 1: to the forefront by the media, and the NFL has
- 51:24Speaker 1: had to say there isn't there is a problem with that.
- 51:27Speaker 1: So when you look at that, and you look at
- 51:28Speaker 1: the way you play, and you look at some of
- 51:29Speaker 1: your teammates, what are your what is your response when
- 51:32Speaker 1: I say something about C t E UM Really, honestly, UM,
- 51:37Speaker 1: I don't have a response. I don't worry about c
- 51:40Speaker 1: t UM. It's still something that's still mean. UM you
- 51:46Speaker 1: looked at in terms of research, UM, I recommend and
- 51:50Speaker 1: I encourage guys to go and get tested and to
- 51:54Speaker 1: figure out where they are today. UM. I just recently
- 51:56Speaker 1: got UM M R I and my brain is see
- 51:59Speaker 1: why I'm at It looks like it's perfectly good health.
- 52:02Speaker 1: But five six years from now, who knows what that
- 52:04Speaker 1: could be. So there's still that still needs to be
- 52:07Speaker 1: more research to be done with CT in the game
- 52:09Speaker 1: of football, because UH, statistically soccer is you get more
- 52:15Speaker 1: successive soccer than you do a football and they have
- 52:17Speaker 1: no I don't see right, I don't see anyone talking
- 52:20Speaker 1: about CT and net sport, or CT in boxing or
- 52:23Speaker 1: CT in hockey. It's all relegated towards football and UH
- 52:29Speaker 1: and that's the number one sport in the country, in
- 52:31Speaker 1: the world really in terms of billions of dollars. So
- 52:34Speaker 1: you know, there's there's a whole trick to it. You know,
- 52:37Speaker 1: That's the way I look at it. And I'm not
- 52:39Speaker 1: going to live my life based off of fear of
- 52:41Speaker 1: what may come away. They're not come. I'm listen, I'm
- 52:43Speaker 1: gonna leave this. Everybody. Somebody want to take you out
- 52:45Speaker 1: of here? There you go, There you go. You know,
- 52:47Speaker 1: I love I love you. I love your energy because
- 52:51Speaker 1: because I have that energy. And so because of the
- 52:54Speaker 1: fact that I know, I would tell people, you know,
- 52:55Speaker 1: when I hit fifty, I say I'm on the downside diet,
- 52:58Speaker 1: you know, saying you're good because you know, when you're
- 53:00Speaker 1: twenty you can look for But I guess what, I'm
- 53:02Speaker 1: not mad at that because I'm gonna live my life
- 53:04Speaker 1: every day and I'm cool with that. But but but
- 53:07Speaker 1: but when I look at what you're doing now, the
- 53:09Speaker 1: transitional things that you've done in fifteen years. So I'm
- 53:11Speaker 1: an entertainment so I like an athlete, I get spirits
- 53:15Speaker 1: of big money. And sometimes that money can stop or
- 53:18Speaker 1: keep going, can stop suddenly, you know, and that's important
- 53:23Speaker 1: and so so when you look at you know, you
- 53:25Speaker 1: have the upcoming draft coming up, these players coming in
- 53:28Speaker 1: and they got these big salaries. Are you able to
- 53:31Speaker 1: talk to these players or you just or or how
- 53:34Speaker 1: does that work? Do you are? Are you able to
- 53:36Speaker 1: create a relationship with incoming players? Are just players who
- 53:39Speaker 1: are already in the league. We can. I mean obviously
- 53:42Speaker 1: you know you work with players, um that had money.
- 53:46Speaker 1: So it's it's brookies, it's best. It's just you know,
- 53:51Speaker 1: guys that have played the game before, before, during and after.
- 53:54Speaker 1: So um, you know, we we have a few guys
- 53:58Speaker 1: that we looked at in the past, rookie that have
- 54:00Speaker 1: come out and try to build relationship with and to
- 54:03Speaker 1: see it is a vibe there. Um. There are several
- 54:07Speaker 1: financial firms, There are several um financial institutions and all
- 54:12Speaker 1: for the safe services we do. And it is really
- 54:14Speaker 1: about finding the right fit because I try to find
- 54:17Speaker 1: I have a rifle approach and I try to find
- 54:20Speaker 1: the right guy that works well with us. Not am
- 54:24Speaker 1: I trying to get everybody. I'm trying to find the
- 54:27Speaker 1: right kid and get it that's understand that understands it
- 54:30Speaker 1: and in it for the long haul. And it's not
- 54:33Speaker 1: just about the financial services, about really a lifestyle services,
- 54:39Speaker 1: you know, in terms of you know, making the right
- 54:43Speaker 1: lifestyle choices to preserve your wealth, because that's what this is.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Managing your cost and controlling your impulses and seeing it
- 54:51Speaker 1: for the next twenty thirty forty years well after you're playing,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and try to build recurring revenue streams for yourself after
- 55:01Speaker 1: your play. So that's where I'm more focused on. And
- 55:04Speaker 1: if we get to a lot of at a young age, great,
- 55:07Speaker 1: we'll get them in the middle of their career. Great.
- 55:09Speaker 1: And we had clients that we were with at the
- 55:11Speaker 1: end of their careers and it's been this sort of
- 55:14Speaker 1: wonderful deal. So it gives me an opportunity to meet
- 55:17Speaker 1: people from all across the board, from different backgrounds, different businesses. Um,
- 55:22Speaker 1: they're not necessarily our athletes. You're not just dealing with
- 55:25Speaker 1: athletes only. So let's make sure that's understood. Yeah, there
- 55:28Speaker 1: has to be very clear about that. I'm building my
- 55:30Speaker 1: business on athletes because that's you know, from my own perspective,
- 55:36Speaker 1: that's a violence for business. So I have to create
- 55:39Speaker 1: different relationships that that brings stability to my own life,
- 55:44Speaker 1: to my own business life, that I can continue to
- 55:47Speaker 1: grow and build as we move on. This is the
- 55:50Speaker 1: Edwards George Wealth Management Group, which provides comprehensive investment management
- 55:54Speaker 1: financial services services that include wealth management and state planning,
- 55:58Speaker 1: which is important, tax planning strategies, which is amazingly important,
- 56:03Speaker 1: retirement and income planning. I've believe me, I'm engaged in
- 56:08Speaker 1: all those relationships. That's why I wanted to make sure
- 56:10Speaker 1: people understood that when you hear me talk to you,
- 56:13Speaker 1: when you hear hear me talking, I'm not talking about
- 56:14Speaker 1: just athletes, an everyday person who has a small entrepreneur
- 56:19Speaker 1: CEO industry decision. Make our celebrities. They could come to
- 56:22Speaker 1: you because of Edwards George Wealth Management Group, and then
- 56:26Speaker 1: you can you can service them, and I mean service

- 56:34Speaker 1: no question. I mean that's Uncle Sam is. Number one
- 56:37Speaker 1: that's trying to learn, is that you don't base your
- 56:40Speaker 1: budget off for the growth. You understand you can uh
- 56:50Speaker 1: live by the group. She'll die by the neck. Oh
- 56:56Speaker 1: thank you for getting on the car with me today. Man,
