- 2:26Speaker 1: Truth everyday use. The book engages in powers and enlightened
- 2:30Speaker 1: readers on how to find their truths whilst while still
- 2:33Speaker 1: finding the funny. Please, welcome to Money Making Conversations, Amanda
- 2:38Speaker 1: Seals Hi, thanks for having me. Well, first of all,
- 2:43Speaker 1: what you're not gonna do to me? Amanda? It was
- 2:45Speaker 1: that little, that little low key personnel. I've read this book,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I've seen you on stage, I gotta bring the fire
- 2:51Speaker 1: on my ship. Oh, it's the up it's the up story.
- 2:56Speaker 1: It's been the up story. Now let's talk about this
- 2:59Speaker 1: entire TV. Oh good, that means, it means you're you're
- 3:02Speaker 1: earning your money. And now we're gonna promote now this book.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna just tell you first of all, out of
- 3:08Speaker 1: the blue. Let me just talk about how you came
- 3:10Speaker 1: into my life. Okay, And um, I always kind of
- 3:14Speaker 1: knew about you. People have told me. I keep my
- 3:16Speaker 1: hand my tentacles out there about who's funny. But I'm
- 3:20Speaker 1: always searching for the funny female. This has a story
- 3:24Speaker 1: to talk. And so I'm sitting at the house just
- 3:26Speaker 1: going through, scanning through and just scanning. I always go
- 3:30Speaker 1: to five O one on Direct five or one is
- 3:32Speaker 1: HBO For some reason, I always go to five o one.
- 3:34Speaker 1: So on this night, five O one boom, I see
- 3:38Speaker 1: a young lady on stage. She has just a little
- 3:40Speaker 1: interesting clothes. She has on like a little striped lines
- 3:43Speaker 1: going up and down, and you know, and she's only
- 3:46Speaker 1: has her hair pulled back, and and she has a
- 3:48Speaker 1: crowd and and she's laughing and funny. And he was like,
- 3:53Speaker 1: can we stick around and just listen to what she
- 3:54Speaker 1: has to say. Dynamic. Uh, always she does. She she
- 3:59Speaker 1: does jokes, would never even think of doing. That's always
- 4:02Speaker 1: a testament that you're that you're doing something uniquely funny
- 4:05Speaker 1: and you're gifted. She she was doing humor that first
- 4:08Speaker 1: of all was female human, So I would never do
- 4:09Speaker 1: some of the joke for a female driven but again
- 4:12Speaker 1: the direction of thought, I would never do. And so
- 4:15Speaker 1: I started trying to get her on my show money
- 4:17Speaker 1: Making Conversations. So then Jessic Collins came up to my show.
- 4:20Speaker 1: He was promoting American Soul. Okay. During the middle of
- 4:24Speaker 1: his interview, I brought up your name Okay. And then
- 4:27Speaker 1: because at the end of the show, Jessic Collin's names
- 4:29Speaker 1: pops up Okay, So I knew here to connect with her.
- 4:32Speaker 1: So I suggested, I gotta get on my show Okay
- 4:34Speaker 1: with Sean, Okay with Sean nothing, nothing, nothing. So I'm
- 4:40Speaker 1: still on the search to get a man to seals
- 4:43Speaker 1: on myself. They all then all of a sudden, the
- 4:46Speaker 1: NBC competition show come out. I got people that know man,
- 4:49Speaker 1: NBC UNI. You know I'm a foller. I got people
- 4:51Speaker 1: in NBC UNI I called over there. I need to
- 4:54Speaker 1: get a man to seal over Sean, we've got your cover. Nothing. Nah,
- 5:00Speaker 1: finally a book come out. I should look, y'all. Amanda
- 5:05Speaker 1: Seals has a book coming out calls small doses, potent
- 5:09Speaker 1: truths for everyday. Use y'all. I'm fired people now. I'm
- 5:13Speaker 1: fired people now if I don't get a man on
- 5:16Speaker 1: my show. Just what if I knew I had to
- 5:21Speaker 1: threatening like that way back in January? We would need
- 5:24Speaker 1: to be having this conversation right now an welcome to
- 5:28Speaker 1: money making shall welcome to money making conversation. And I'm
- 5:31Speaker 1: your host, Roshan mcgohn. And how are you doing today,
- 5:33Speaker 1: Miss over work, miss on fire, miss funny, how are
- 5:37Speaker 1: you doing today? I'm great? Thank you, Rosan. I'm glad
- 5:40Speaker 1: we finally made the copping. I didn't realize there was
- 5:43Speaker 1: such a journey. Glad. I mean, your persistence is I
- 5:47Speaker 1: just I really am flattered by it, So thank you.
- 5:50Speaker 1: What the thing about it is that it's it's when
- 5:53Speaker 1: you see something special and you see something unique and
- 5:56Speaker 1: you see something groundbreaking. That's all those terms are associated
- 6:00Speaker 1: with you. Let's talk about their whole perspective on stand
- 6:02Speaker 1: up How did you get into being a stand up comic? Um?
- 6:09Speaker 1: In two thousand thirteen, I found myself at a cross roads,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and I talked about this in the book UM, where
- 6:17Speaker 1: I really had like I've been the MTV me Jay,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I've been uh pretty well known book and word poets.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I had been hosting different shows and doing the radio,
- 6:30Speaker 1: and so I had a lot under my belt in
- 6:33Speaker 1: terms of the different trajectories, and it kind of gotten
- 6:38Speaker 1: confusing for people where folks just didn't know how to
- 6:41Speaker 1: classify me, and you know, we just living that we
- 6:43Speaker 1: live in a world when people want to be able
- 6:45Speaker 1: to like pip you in a particular space, and so
- 6:49Speaker 1: it was like I felt that people were essentially considering
- 6:53Speaker 1: if somebody who does a lot, which kind of ends
- 6:56Speaker 1: up translating to like you do nothing, And that was
- 7:00Speaker 1: really problematic for me. And it just felt like I
- 7:03Speaker 1: wasn't doing the best economically with my time or my
- 7:07Speaker 1: money in the in continuing to go in that direction.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And so I started to consider like, Okay, well what
- 7:13Speaker 1: is the career that I want, you know, like if
- 7:16Speaker 1: if if if people can't find the label for me,
- 7:19Speaker 1: who do I feel like it's similar to me in
- 7:21Speaker 1: terms of their practice and in terms of their products
- 7:25Speaker 1: and what is the label that they have. And so
- 7:28Speaker 1: when I started looking at folks Um, the people that
- 7:31Speaker 1: really rang true for me were people like Chris Rock,
- 7:34Speaker 1: Chelsea Handler, Allen de Generous, simply because not because we
- 7:38Speaker 1: share the same voice, but because they had managed to
- 7:41Speaker 1: create multimedia mobile guns based on their unique points of view.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It wasn't necessarily based on them being producers or them
- 7:50Speaker 1: being writers or then being directors. No, it was specifically
- 7:53Speaker 1: based on first their point of view and then branching
- 7:56Speaker 1: out to do all of those things from that perspective.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And when I looked at all the things that they
- 8:03Speaker 1: were doing, writing, hosting, acting, the one thing they all
- 8:10Speaker 1: could do that I couldn't do with stand up comedy.
- 8:14Speaker 1: And so I realized in that in that exploration, in
- 8:17Speaker 1: that examination, that if I wanted to go into this
- 8:22Speaker 1: space that they were, if I wanted to achieve in
- 8:24Speaker 1: the way that they were, which is you know exactly
- 8:27Speaker 1: what I wanted, I needed to I needed to add
- 8:29Speaker 1: to stand up comedy to my repertoire, and it needed
- 8:32Speaker 1: to not be just like a plug and play. It
- 8:35Speaker 1: needed to be authentic, and I needed to be genuinely
- 8:37Speaker 1: good at it, and it was something I always knew
- 8:39Speaker 1: was within me, but I just kind of never had
- 8:41Speaker 1: really fully pursued it. And then once I put that
- 8:44Speaker 1: out into the universe, just like you, kind of just
- 8:47Speaker 1: manifested where. About six months later, um, I would ask
- 8:51Speaker 1: to be on the stand up show because the host
- 8:54Speaker 1: had thought I was already a stand up comedian. She
- 8:56Speaker 1: was a fan of mine from doing talking headstuff on
- 8:58Speaker 1: pH one. So I I, I just took the leap.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It was like you know, being caused at alt or
- 9:03Speaker 1: kind of situation, and I took the leap and I
- 9:05Speaker 1: did the show and it went well, thank goodness, and
- 9:08Speaker 1: so I stuck with it and and so I just
- 9:12Speaker 1: but I came up through the ranks and I didn't
- 9:14Speaker 1: skip sets. I may have spent them up, but I
- 9:17Speaker 1: didn't skip sets. You know. I took my I did
- 9:20Speaker 1: my my dudes terms open mics and I did open mics,
- 9:24Speaker 1: and I did my my kind of you know, struggling
- 9:28Speaker 1: on these showcases and having at bag and barter and
- 9:32Speaker 1: asked people to get on their cyminals and running around
- 9:35Speaker 1: New York all times the night in the cold, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 1: just trying to get five minutes here having to hang
- 9:40Speaker 1: out and hanging out, hanging out hoping that eventually they'll
- 9:44Speaker 1: get on stage. You know, maybe somebody will drop out,
- 9:46Speaker 1: or maybe somebody would keep, you know, cancel, or or
- 9:49Speaker 1: maybe somebody just um will be feeling benevolent that night
- 9:52Speaker 1: and say, hey, it's just wrong. And so I just
- 9:56Speaker 1: really liked dug in and and this thing that it
- 10:00Speaker 1: always been just found its tone. Well, you know, the
- 10:03Speaker 1: interesting thing about it is that I wanted you to
- 10:05Speaker 1: say that about your your your journey because of the
- 10:08Speaker 1: fact that let's let's always try to be honest in
- 10:10Speaker 1: the conversation what I'm talking to my guests, because you're
- 10:13Speaker 1: an attractive lady. And I've seen comedians or people who
- 10:16Speaker 1: want to be comedians they they see as a hook. Okay,
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a I'm a struggling actor or actress
- 10:21Speaker 1: who can't get in the gig. So I'm gonna I'm
- 10:24Speaker 1: gonna try my handed stand up comedy and and and
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's so shortsighted. And that's why I wanted to, you know,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and I was very honest in my attempts to get
- 10:33Speaker 1: you on the show because I just saw so much
- 10:35Speaker 1: I saw a special brand of your style that I
- 10:38Speaker 1: knew it was. It was well crafted because you're a storyteller.
- 10:41Speaker 1: And so if you have not seen her stand up comment,
- 10:43Speaker 1: she's a storyteller. You know when she starts breaking down stories,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you know she she pulls you into it. Even in
- 10:48Speaker 1: her book, you know when she talked about different scenarios
- 10:51Speaker 1: that we're gonna get into the next break because I
- 10:53Speaker 1: read your book and I want to bring out certain
- 10:54Speaker 1: chapters in certain moments that I think I felt related
- 10:57Speaker 1: to me, you know, because of the fact that the
- 11:00Speaker 1: book that is empowering to everybody who wants to be
- 11:02Speaker 1: motivated to success. That's what my takeaway from the book
- 11:05Speaker 1: that she has written called small doses potent truths for
- 11:09Speaker 1: everyday use. And I've had to make a comparison of
- 11:12Speaker 1: her to anybody in the comedic field, it would be
- 11:14Speaker 1: a Whoopi Goldberg. But Whoopi Goldberg was not a stand
- 11:17Speaker 1: up comic. That's that's a big difference. But she was.
- 11:20Speaker 1: But she could tell the story and she would call
- 11:22Speaker 1: or craft a story that wasn't always what you expect
- 11:25Speaker 1: to be funny, but it turned out to be funny.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That's her skill level. But she's a stand up comic,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and that gives her a step of both, which means
- 11:33Speaker 1: that she can turn it on. She can stand on
- 11:35Speaker 1: the corner and make you laugh for as long as
- 11:37Speaker 1: she feels like it, and she can make money in it.
- 11:39Speaker 1: That's why I did stand up. We'll be right back
- 11:41Speaker 1: with more my girl. She's on my show, A Man
- 11:44Speaker 1: to Seal, small doses, potent truths. You can buy that
- 11:47Speaker 1: for everyday use. You can buy that in the stores today.
- 11:49Speaker 1: We'll be right back to hear some of that, some
- 11:51Speaker 1: little juicy parts that I pulled out of the book. Hi,
- 11:55Speaker 1: this is ra Sean McDonald. You're listening to money making
- 11:57Speaker 1: conversations on the show. Um, she's been because she's on fire.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm fortunate to have her own money making conversations. She's
- 12:03Speaker 1: on the phone. Amanda Sales. Amanda. UM. We we talked
- 12:08Speaker 1: about your journey. We talked about I believe you said
- 12:10Speaker 1: twenties thirt team when you made a decision to, uh say,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you know some stand up comic. I want to do it.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I've been people have told me I'm funny. That's how
- 12:17Speaker 1: usually you get in the stand up comic people you
- 12:19Speaker 1: find you need to you sure, you don't tell jokes
- 12:21Speaker 1: for a living people. That's how you kind of get
- 12:22Speaker 1: into being a stand up come. You just don't suddenly
- 12:25Speaker 1: wake up and just start telling jokes. People have kind
- 12:27Speaker 1: of you. You know how to hold an audience, usually
- 12:30Speaker 1: your friends. Usually you're able to make your friends just
- 12:33Speaker 1: laugh because you know the little, the little trigger points
- 12:35Speaker 1: of your friends. You know certain certain character flaws they have,
- 12:38Speaker 1: so you know how to push that button to make
- 12:40Speaker 1: them laugh. The hard part about being a stand up
- 12:43Speaker 1: comic is that you're in the room full of strangers
- 12:46Speaker 1: and you don't know what day they had, you know
- 12:48Speaker 1: where they came from. You don't know if they're hungry,
- 12:50Speaker 1: you know if they're running late. You don't know if
- 12:52Speaker 1: they don't want to even be there watching you on stage.
- 12:55Speaker 1: And so to be a successful stand up comic, you
- 12:58Speaker 1: have to weave a story or relate sable story and
- 13:01Speaker 1: be confident at it because that does mean every joke
- 13:03Speaker 1: that you say is going to go over big. And
- 13:05Speaker 1: I always tell people, when you're looking at the room,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you start from the back and built to the front,
- 13:10Speaker 1: because in front of the artist you got, it's the
- 13:12Speaker 1: back of the room that you gotta win. Up first,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and when and if you win the back and and
- 13:18Speaker 1: that's even bigger when you start getting into arenas two thousand,
- 13:21Speaker 1: three thousand, ten thousand, I've I've been front of twenty
- 13:23Speaker 1: thou people. You have to go way upstairs and make
- 13:26Speaker 1: sure to acknowledge those people upstairs. Because you ignore those people,
- 13:30Speaker 1: they can turn your old home, your whole show left
- 13:32Speaker 1: or right, and you can never gain control of it.
- 13:34Speaker 1: When I look at when I looked at your special
- 13:37Speaker 1: on HBO, I saw I started storytellers. Tell us about
- 13:41Speaker 1: that whole concept of how you are so confident to
- 13:44Speaker 1: tell stories when you're on stage. M hm um. It's
- 13:54Speaker 1: interesting that you say that because I used to run
- 13:57Speaker 1: from that in my comedy. Originally, I used to feel
- 14:01Speaker 1: like it was like I was almost like just telling stories.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And I think in hindsight that was because it was
- 14:11Speaker 1: so easy for me to tell stories that I thought
- 14:15Speaker 1: maybe like this ain't the thing, And it took other
- 14:20Speaker 1: comics to tell me like like what are you talking about? No,
- 14:26Speaker 1: because I think sometimes too, it's like, you know, you
- 14:28Speaker 1: look at other like companies just have some of these styles,
- 14:30Speaker 1: right you fo folks that are very like punchline comics
- 14:33Speaker 1: was they very set up punch hit, you know, and
- 14:37Speaker 1: then even within like the traditional black comedy rooms, like
- 14:40Speaker 1: you're sexy to have a joke every well second absolutely
- 14:44Speaker 1: fifty seconds second out yes, And so for me it
- 14:49Speaker 1: was like, well than you know, my style is kind
- 14:51Speaker 1: of it's a little bit more, uh, like I gotta
- 14:56Speaker 1: chicking on a journey, and I need to get the
- 14:59Speaker 1: audience a run with me on that journey. And it
- 15:01Speaker 1: felt like I just wasn't. It felt like I needed
- 15:04Speaker 1: to do more in order to do that than I
- 15:06Speaker 1: was already doing. And so I just took my fellow
- 15:08Speaker 1: in comics to like recognize in me and like tell me, like, no,
- 15:11Speaker 1: it's not that, it's just that you need to find
- 15:13Speaker 1: those punts in your story. Like it's not that you
- 15:16Speaker 1: need to not tell the stories. It's just those prints
- 15:19Speaker 1: are in your stories, and you do it with already
- 15:21Speaker 1: even thinking, so imagine when you're actually thinking about it.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And so now like in terms of telling story, like, um,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I'm the person that you can come to like, Okay,
- 15:29Speaker 1: where's the funny in this story? You know? And like
- 15:33Speaker 1: I have friends and will bring me their scripts who
- 15:35Speaker 1: are not necessarily you know, they're funny, but they're not
- 15:37Speaker 1: necessarily comedian, you know, and I'll be able to look
- 15:40Speaker 1: at their scripts and be like, no, I see right here,
- 15:41Speaker 1: there's a joke. Yes see right here, there's a joke
- 15:44Speaker 1: right here. And I know that from me developing my
- 15:47Speaker 1: confidence in being able to tell stories that are not
- 15:51Speaker 1: only a longer joke that's going to land, but that
- 15:54Speaker 1: have jokes within throughout the throughout the past that I
- 15:59Speaker 1: enjoyed talking you because you you know a lot of
- 16:01Speaker 1: people understand this about stand ups is that we're just
- 16:04Speaker 1: keen observers and we just see stuff and then we
- 16:07Speaker 1: was to you bend it. The whole key to a
- 16:09Speaker 1: really good joke is how far can you bend the
- 16:11Speaker 1: reality of that joke? And when you've been the reality
- 16:15Speaker 1: of that joke, that's gonna be responsed of what you're
- 16:18Speaker 1: gonna get back. Now. The reason that reason she's she's
- 16:21Speaker 1: different from me. She's a she's a story teller. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: was kind of like a kind of close to her,
- 16:25Speaker 1: but I was afraid of silence. I had to get
- 16:28Speaker 1: to that seconds fast. That's why she's That's why she
- 16:31Speaker 1: could act. She she's an actress. And when you have
- 16:35Speaker 1: the mentality of the actors. You understand there's a scene
- 16:38Speaker 1: and so so she's an actress at a stand up comedian,
- 16:41Speaker 1: so she has both gifts master So I couldn't act,
- 16:43Speaker 1: So all I to do with jelly jokes because I
- 16:45Speaker 1: wasn't if I could be, if I could act, I
- 16:46Speaker 1: probably hung hungting longer for this the telling other stories.
- 16:50Speaker 1: And so it was a couple of quotes that it
- 16:52Speaker 1: was one quote when I was reading your book, the
- 16:53Speaker 1: book we're discussing this, and I'm interviewing a man that
- 16:56Speaker 1: sales her book a small doses potent truths for everyday use.
- 16:59Speaker 1: That really got to me. It was, I'm gonna read
- 17:01Speaker 1: a quote to you. I no longer a dressed based
- 17:04Speaker 1: on how I want folks to see me, but how
- 17:07Speaker 1: I want to see myself as art. Elevate the vibrance
- 17:11Speaker 1: in the room, and that and that and that. That
- 17:14Speaker 1: whole reference to you came from the person who's styling you,
- 17:17Speaker 1: because you didn't understand where they were coming with these clothes,
- 17:20Speaker 1: and they go on your clothes and they walk out
- 17:22Speaker 1: with this look that you would have never figured out.
- 17:25Speaker 1: And I felt that that's how I I dressed for
- 17:27Speaker 1: rijand mcgonald. I don't. I don't know how you if
- 17:29Speaker 1: you compliment me, cool, but this is how I felt
- 17:33Speaker 1: like walking out of the house today. Work with that. Okay,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Now I know where mirrors are, so I know how
- 17:37Speaker 1: to look in the mirror whore I leave, so I
- 17:39Speaker 1: know it's not crazy. But this is how I look.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And so when I read that quote, it hits so
- 17:43Speaker 1: harme with me because of the fact that so many
- 17:46Speaker 1: people are trying to be or look like something that
- 17:48Speaker 1: they really aren't or what people expect them to be.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But now you Amanda or who you are, and you're
- 17:54Speaker 1: proud of it and you're confident in that step. Correct. Yeah,
- 18:00Speaker 1: I mean I think so much of that, And just
- 18:05Speaker 1: like maturity, you know, and growth, and just like time,
- 18:12Speaker 1: this just taking time to explore my heart, to explore myself,
- 18:16Speaker 1: to explore how the two intertwine. UM, And I think
- 18:22Speaker 1: a lot of us don't necessarily start to do that
- 18:24Speaker 1: because we're really so ambition driven and it can feel
- 18:29Speaker 1: like if I'm not consistently driving towards the goal, UM,
- 18:34Speaker 1: that I'm like being lazy or I'm not on point,
- 18:37Speaker 1: or I'm not focused. And then sometimes but you kind
- 18:40Speaker 1: of realize at a certain point, like me looking inwards
- 18:45Speaker 1: is also me driving towards the goal, right, And I
- 18:48Speaker 1: think a lot of us like continue to look outwards
- 18:50Speaker 1: and so like when it comes to style and when
- 18:51Speaker 1: the kings to like me to developed in my style
- 18:53Speaker 1: and howing to really like learn how to just stand
- 18:56Speaker 1: there and life. I'm not I'm not trying to get
- 19:00Speaker 1: people to think a certain thing about me anymore. That
- 19:03Speaker 1: actually does scare people, by the way, when people feel
- 19:06Speaker 1: like you're not trying to gain their favors, it does.
- 19:12Speaker 1: It really does bother people. Like I know, it really
- 19:15Speaker 1: bothers people that I am so unwavering about certain things
- 19:19Speaker 1: that I really don't care about their opinions, you know,
- 19:22Speaker 1: And so it makes folks feel like they don't matter.
- 19:25Speaker 1: You'd have to say that they don't matter. It's just
- 19:28Speaker 1: to say that their insight and their input has to
- 19:32Speaker 1: be earned. You had to be hard to date, well,
- 19:37Speaker 1: you were hard to date your guys. You guys struggle
- 19:40Speaker 1: with that with that personality that you know that trying
- 19:43Speaker 1: to figure you out with a smart, independent woman who
- 19:45Speaker 1: knows herselves, and they've been looking to be lead and guided.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I don't I love. I love her. I love her.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I mean, if that's it what you're referring to, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 1: hard to every I'm hard to anybody who doesn't understand
- 19:58Speaker 1: how to be secure in themselves at the same time
- 20:01Speaker 1: as being selfless to someone else. And that's that that's you,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and that's that's the point. That's what I see on stage,
- 20:07Speaker 1: that's what I see. Come and tell you something. Six
- 20:10Speaker 1: years for roughly six years, that path and this journey
- 20:13Speaker 1: that you've achieved as a stand up in six years,
- 20:15Speaker 1: it's phenomenal. It's phenomenal. Thank you, and I and I
- 20:19Speaker 1: am I am so like appreciated that just I mean,
- 20:23Speaker 1: it's in in stand up time, it's a meteor crackt
- 20:28Speaker 1: absolutely like because standard time is much longer. Like, for
- 20:32Speaker 1: for what it's worth, like, I am very aware and
- 20:35Speaker 1: I do not take it for granted there at all,
- 20:36Speaker 1: that I've been so blessed in stand up so quickly.
- 20:40Speaker 1: I think a lot of it is because by the
- 20:41Speaker 1: time I got to stand up, I had already developed
- 20:43Speaker 1: my voice. I was already comfortable with the stage and
- 20:46Speaker 1: with the mic. So a lot of times like that's
- 20:49Speaker 1: a big part of your development as a standard you know,
- 20:51Speaker 1: just being able to be comfortable on stage, being able
- 20:53Speaker 1: to know how to feel a crowd. And because of
- 20:55Speaker 1: my years hosting and d Jays already had that stage
- 20:59Speaker 1: presence built in. Yeah, and that's really key when you
- 21:02Speaker 1: walk on the stage and you were able to examine
- 21:05Speaker 1: the crowd. And that's really key when you work on
- 21:06Speaker 1: the stage not bothered by the lights that can that
- 21:09Speaker 1: can uh block and you united nothing to intimidates you.
- 21:12Speaker 1: That stage president is the key to how fast you
- 21:15Speaker 1: would rise as a stand up if you're not a
- 21:17Speaker 1: gimmick act. Now, if you're a gimmick and you got
- 21:19Speaker 1: some little character you're trying to pull off, No, she's
- 21:21Speaker 1: going on stage being herself when she walks on stage.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I love. I like to believe the person I saw
- 21:27Speaker 1: telling little jokes is the person I'm gonna say hello
- 21:29Speaker 1: when I walk on stage, and that that ability to
- 21:33Speaker 1: be able to do that as fast as she's done
- 21:35Speaker 1: it is phenomenal. It's really impressive. It's a very funny book, Amanda.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I you know, I I hope I can get you
- 21:41Speaker 1: back on the show. I'm running out of time. I
- 21:44Speaker 1: wanted to break down very I got so many pages
- 21:47Speaker 1: folded in this book, you know, like like I know you,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you got a lot of answers. Now, that's why I can't.
- 21:53Speaker 1: That's why I can't. That's why I can't go in
- 21:55Speaker 1: just like white people stop doing this, Black people stop
- 21:57Speaker 1: doing this. Friends need to keep the dry. You know.
- 22:00Speaker 1: It's uh the story about the guy who took you
- 22:03Speaker 1: to the hotel room and you know, and and and
- 22:05Speaker 1: you woke up and you knew y'all had had sex,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and he didn't talk to you for a couple of
- 22:08Speaker 1: weeks and then you text him. Didn't he had the attitude.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's so many great stories in this book that I
- 22:13Speaker 1: want to talk to you about it. First of all,
- 22:20Speaker 1: I really really appreciate that you really read this. Thank
- 22:23Speaker 1: you well. I read the book because guess what your talent.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And it's a book. It's funny, it's it's a it's
- 22:29Speaker 1: a book like I've never read. I've been fortunate in
- 22:31Speaker 1: my life to have taken books to number one. I've
- 22:34Speaker 1: been fortunate my life to read books on the regular
- 22:36Speaker 1: basis on my show Money Making Conversation for the last
- 22:38Speaker 1: two years. This is a must read. It's a it's
- 22:40Speaker 1: a colorful book, it has has graphics, and it's a
- 22:43Speaker 1: book like it's pages of pink, pages are brown. It's
- 22:46Speaker 1: a book that you cannot go to a restaurant and
- 22:48Speaker 1: read it. You have to read it in your house
- 22:51Speaker 1: and enjoyed. And It's daylight is funny. But more importantly,
- 22:55Speaker 1: you keep winning a man that thank you for taking
- 22:56Speaker 1: the time to do my show. Know that Rashan McDonald
- 22:59Speaker 1: is a fan of yours. If you ever want to
- 23:01Speaker 1: promote anything, come back on the show, send me a
- 23:03Speaker 1: social media post and I will support you that. So
- 23:08Speaker 1: I just really appreciate you and thank you again for
- 23:10Speaker 1: working so hard. They're bringing me to the show and
- 23:13Speaker 1: really stick a way because I mean that that that
- 23:15Speaker 1: is noteworthy in itself, So thank you again. Better and
- 23:18Speaker 1: keeping that that that that sole sister that tells the truth. Okay,
