Both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Forest Street overpass were finally opened last week a couple of weeks following the official ribbon cutting. The approximately million project, funded entirely through a state tax on railroad diesel fuel, brings to a close a decades-long transit frustration and public safety concern posed by train switching operations at the Union Pacific station.
