- 0:00Speaker 1: You can't have a fourteen million foreign nationals run around
- 0:03Speaker 1: on supervised and that's exactly what the Democrats supported. That's
- 0:07Speaker 1: the height of your responsibility. Where are you paying for
- 0:10Speaker 1: that for the next twenty years? That Biden open border
- 0:13Speaker 1: was the worst policy decision in history by a sitting president,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the worst.
- 0:19Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Good Monday Morning. Nice to have you with us. On
- 0:25Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update. The super Bowl happened, but
- 0:29Speaker 3: the real story was what happened at halftime, as there
- 0:33Speaker 3: were two different options for Americans, turning Point USA putting
- 0:37Speaker 3: on their patriotic Super Bowl alternative and it earned praise.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Is millions tuned in over Bad Bunny. The President also
- 0:46Speaker 3: giving his thoughts on the halftime performance that if you
- 0:49Speaker 3: didn't understand Spanish, you couldn't understand a word that was
- 0:52Speaker 3: being said. Plus, in another shocking story, it's amazing just
- 0:57Speaker 3: how much money you can lose by play in the
- 1:00Speaker 3: Super Bowl if it's in California. Senator Cruz and I
- 1:04Speaker 3: talk about that, plus the halftime show and why so
- 1:07Speaker 3: many people are getting out of California as fast as
- 1:10Speaker 3: they possibly can It's a forty seven morning update and
- 1:13Speaker 3: it starts right now.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Story number one.
- 1:16Speaker 3: More than five million Patriots decided they weren't going to
- 1:20Speaker 3: watch the halftime show on NBC of the Super Bowl,
- 1:23Speaker 3: and instead they decided to watch one that celebrated America.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Turning point usays all American halftime show won the Super
- 1:33Speaker 3: Bowl for many Americans, and why well. From bashing Black
- 1:38Speaker 3: Lives Matter and Kammua to bashing Eye, Super Bowl sixty
- 1:42Speaker 3: starred Bad Bunnies history of left wing activists and saying
- 1:47Speaker 3: what they like to say the most f Donald Trump.
- 1:50Speaker 3: That's exactly why there was another option this Super Bowl Sunday.
- 1:56Speaker 3: With sports fans usually getting excited about the halftime show,
- 2:00Speaker 3: this year was very different. Why because the left wing
- 2:04Speaker 3: political activism in this year's game, especially from halftime show
- 2:10Speaker 3: star Bad Bunny, who has a long history of leftist activism.
- 2:16Speaker 3: The Puerto Rican pop star's latest dive into woke politics
- 2:20Speaker 3: was his appearance at this year's Grammy Awards, where he
- 2:23Speaker 3: launched into an anti Ice tirade from the stage as
- 2:28Speaker 3: he collected the Best Album award that he received, and
- 2:33Speaker 3: he was very excited about it. He wanted to say
- 2:36Speaker 3: this before he even thank God, as he described it
- 2:39Speaker 3: for his award.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Before I say thanks to God, I'm gonna say ice out.
- 2:53Speaker 3: That got him a standing ovation from so many that
- 2:57Speaker 3: were there. He went on to say, icea out. We're
- 3:00Speaker 3: not savages, we're not animals, we are humans, and we
- 3:03Speaker 3: are Americans. That was not the first time the rapper,
- 3:07Speaker 3: whose real name is Benito, has worked to undermine American
- 3:12Speaker 3: immigration laws. For instance, he so strongly opposed US immigration
- 3:16Speaker 3: laws they refused to perform any shows in the US
- 3:21Speaker 3: during his twenty twenty five concert tour, which actually in
- 3:25Speaker 3: many ways made it more money by those outside the US. Quote,
- 3:30Speaker 3: people from the US could come here to Puerto Rico
- 3:32Speaker 3: to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the
- 3:35Speaker 3: United States could also travel here or in any part
- 3:38Speaker 3: of the world, he told ID magazine in twenty twenty five.
- 3:42Speaker 3: But there was that issue. Ice could be outside my concerts,
- 3:46Speaker 3: and it's something that we were talking about and very
- 3:49Speaker 3: concerned about. Later that night, in Spanish, he dedicated a
- 3:54Speaker 3: ward to quote all the people who had to leave
- 3:56Speaker 3: their homeland, their country to follow their dream. He also
- 4:01Speaker 3: instilled his love for destructive, wide open borders in one
- 4:05Speaker 3: of his songs. In the music video for his song,
- 4:09Speaker 3: Mad Bunny placed the Puerto Rican flag over the forehead
- 4:12Speaker 3: of the Statue of Liberty and then featured a Trump
- 4:15Speaker 3: impersonator's voice saying, I made a mistake. I want to
- 4:18Speaker 3: apologize to the immigrants in America. I want to say
- 4:22Speaker 3: that this country is nothing without the immigrants. This country
- 4:26Speaker 3: is nothing without Mexicans, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, and Cubans.
- 4:33Speaker 3: If you want to know who his audience is, he
- 4:35Speaker 3: pretty much just named it right there. In addition, the
- 4:38Speaker 3: rapper attacked Ice in June of last year on Instagram
- 4:42Speaker 3: after immigration officers were seen taking illegals into custody in
- 4:48Speaker 3: one part of the country. Bad Bunny ripped Ice on
- 4:51Speaker 3: his Instagram account, saying in Spanish that those mother efforts
- 4:55Speaker 3: are in these cars rav fours. They're here sons of blanks,
- 5:01Speaker 3: instead of letting the people alone and working. Bad Bunny
- 5:06Speaker 3: was also a huge supporter of Kamala Harris in the
- 5:08Speaker 3: twenty twenty four presidential election and endorsed the former vice
- 5:13Speaker 3: president at the time. Previous to two thousand and four election,
- 5:17Speaker 3: he formally allowed Joe Biden to use his music at
- 5:21Speaker 3: Biden rallies back in twenty twenty, and then you can
- 5:24Speaker 3: go back to Black Lives Matter. Speaking of the twenty
- 5:28Speaker 3: twenty election cycle, Bad Bunny told Time magazine that he
- 5:32Speaker 3: supported the violence the ritis Black Lives Matter movement, and
- 5:37Speaker 3: gave the magazine a statement reading, quote f Donald Trump. Yeah,
- 5:42Speaker 3: I used the whole word Presidente del ressimo. Yes, that's
- 5:48Speaker 3: calling Donald Trump the F word, and then saying he's
- 5:50Speaker 3: a racist. He wasn't done there, by the way. He
- 5:53Speaker 3: also put this out in the world. Living in a
- 5:55Speaker 3: world like this, none of us can breathe. F Donald Trump,
- 6:00Speaker 3: president of racism, your hate and tyranny. That's terrorism, referring
- 6:05Speaker 3: to Donald Trump as an actual terrorist. Don't stop the fight.
- 6:09Speaker 3: He then encouraged those who were burning down American cities
- 6:12Speaker 3: don't lower your fists, telling them to go after law enforcement.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Know that we are all home, that this is our land.
- 6:23Speaker 3: That is what bad Bunny put out then, and another
- 6:26Speaker 3: example of his feelings on wote political topics. Immediately after
- 6:30Speaker 3: he was announced as the NFL's halftime show star back
- 6:34Speaker 3: in October, bad Bunny smugly exclaimed that Americans had four
- 6:38Speaker 3: months to quote learn Spanish, quote unquote, and has insisted
- 6:42Speaker 3: that he will not sing any of his music in English.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Only days before a Super Bowl appearance, the rapper tried
- 6:50Speaker 3: to walk back is you better learn Spanish warning. During
- 6:53Speaker 3: an appearance on San Francisco's local station, the rapper told
- 6:58Speaker 3: the audience, quote, I know it. Then they had four
- 7:00Speaker 3: months to learn Spanish. They don't even have to learn Spanish.
- 7:04Speaker 3: They can learn to dance.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Yes.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Despite his history of anti Americanism, the NFL has been
- 7:11Speaker 3: working hard to defend its decision to book Bad Bunny
- 7:14Speaker 3: as the headliner of its twenty six Super Bowl halftime show.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Despite Bunny's constant literal attacks on America, his insistence that
- 7:23Speaker 3: he will never sing in English, and his decision not
- 7:26Speaker 3: to tour the US because he hates Donald Trump, the
- 7:29Speaker 3: NFL commissioner Roger Goodell insisted that hiring the Rapper is
- 7:33Speaker 3: going to be a united moment for America and for
- 7:37Speaker 3: football fans, and the league has rejected calls to fire
- 7:41Speaker 3: the rapper. So there you go. Bad Bunny got the offer,
- 7:45Speaker 3: and yeah, he caved on some of his claims, but
- 7:48Speaker 3: the NFL also made it clear they're willing to put
- 7:51Speaker 3: people on stage at halftime if they think it expands
- 7:54Speaker 3: the NFL audience to those outside the United States of America,
- 7:59Speaker 3: no doubt about it. If if you watch the halftime
- 8:01Speaker 3: show and not the turning point one, you probably have
- 8:04Speaker 3: an opinion. Donald Trump had this to say about it, saying,
- 8:07Speaker 3: quote it was one of the worst ever, absolutely terrible
- 8:11Speaker 3: super Bowl halftime show. President Trump criticizing that show and
- 8:16Speaker 3: saying exactly what you expect in his post on True
- 8:19Speaker 3: Social he described it as a slap in the face
- 8:22Speaker 3: to the United States. Trump also took a shot at
- 8:24Speaker 3: Bad Money performing in Spanish, stating that nobody understands a
- 8:28Speaker 3: word this guy is saying. The Super Bowl halftime show
- 8:31Speaker 3: is absolutely terrible, one of the worst ever. Trump said,
- 8:34Speaker 3: it makes no sense. It's an affront to the greatness
- 8:37Speaker 3: of America and doesn't represent our standards of success, creativity,
- 8:41Speaker 3: or excellence. Nobody understands the word this guy's saying, and
- 8:44Speaker 3: the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are
- 8:48Speaker 3: watching from throughout the US and all over the world.
- 8:51Speaker 3: This show is just a slap in the face to
- 8:53Speaker 3: our country, which is setting new standards and records every
- 8:57Speaker 3: single day. The President went on to say in Queen,
- 9:00Speaker 3: the best stock market in four oh one k in history.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Trump went on to say, there is nothing inspiration about
- 9:06Speaker 3: this mess of the halftime show, and watch it will
- 9:09Speaker 3: get great reviews from the fake news media because they
- 9:12Speaker 3: haven't gotten a clue of what's going on in the
- 9:14Speaker 3: real world. And by the way, the NFL should immediately
- 9:17Speaker 3: replace this ridiculous new kickoff rule. The President also weighed in.
- 9:22Speaker 3: So there you have it, a full rundown of what
- 9:25Speaker 3: actually happened at the super Bowl. One thing's for sure.
- 9:29Speaker 3: The NFL is willing to sell out to anyone if
- 9:32Speaker 3: they think it can bring in new fans, and it
- 9:35Speaker 3: even even if it means putting someone up on stage.
- 9:40Speaker 3: It says f the President of the United States of
- 9:42Speaker 3: America and much of the greatness of this country.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Now story number two.
- 9:47Speaker 3: So the super Bowl happened, and we decided we were
- 9:50Speaker 3: going to talk about it. Senator Cruz and I were
- 9:52Speaker 3: deciding how we were going to talk about bad Bunny.
- 9:55Speaker 3: And if you didn't understand a word he was saying
- 9:57Speaker 3: in the super Bowl, yeah, that was on purpose. It's
- 10:00Speaker 3: part of his anti America, hate us all agenda. Now
- 10:05Speaker 3: that's just the reality of the situation, but how angry
- 10:08Speaker 3: should you be? And also there was an alternative, which
- 10:11Speaker 3: is what I love about this country.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Well it's Super Bowl Sunday.
- 10:14Speaker 5: I will say I had the great joy of being
- 10:16Speaker 5: on an airplane during a lot of.
- 10:17Speaker 4: The Super Bowl.
- 10:18Speaker 5: So I caught part of the third quarter and then
- 10:21Speaker 5: that was about it. So I didn't watch much. I
- 10:26Speaker 5: got a field goal that that was about it. I
- 10:29Speaker 5: did not see the halftime show, although I did pull
- 10:32Speaker 5: it up on my phone and watch part of it afterwards.
- 10:36Speaker 5: But you know, look, I mean the Super Bowl. A
- 10:37Speaker 5: lot of times, I'll go to a Super Bowl party.
- 10:39Speaker 5: In this case, I was just just flying and landing
- 10:41Speaker 5: in Texas, so got on the got home midway through.
- 10:48Speaker 5: You know, I got to say a lot of the
- 10:50Speaker 5: noise about the halftime show. Yeah, I just found myself
- 10:55Speaker 5: not caring. But like I know that there were a
- 10:58Speaker 5: lot of folks all worked up and on the right,
- 11:01Speaker 5: you're supposed to be outraged that that that, you know,
- 11:05Speaker 5: bad bunny.
- 11:05Speaker 3: There was like no English spoken I could have said
- 11:08Speaker 3: where the guy was saying yeah.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 3: So I'm not bilingual like you are those center there's
- 11:13Speaker 3: a difference. See you understood it.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I did know, Benjamin, look we Latino was a little
- 11:18Speaker 5: bit of Spanish, won't kill you like I. I just
- 11:21Speaker 5: you know, I don't like the guy's politics. At the Grammys.
- 11:24Speaker 5: I thought he made an ass of himself, like like
- 11:26Speaker 5: saying ice out that I that I don't like, and
- 11:29Speaker 5: I don't really like when celebrities try to force their
- 11:32Speaker 5: politics on us. But you know, I watched him like
- 11:37Speaker 5: in the sugar cane and dancing around. I think most
- 11:40Speaker 5: of the halftime shows are kind of silly, so like
- 11:42Speaker 5: that this didn't strike me as particularly unusual in more
- 11:46Speaker 5: or less silliness. You know, the guy falls through a
- 11:50Speaker 5: roof and lands in someone's apartment. That was just kind
- 11:52Speaker 5: of strange, But I, you know, it was.
- 11:56Speaker 4: I found myself.
- 11:57Speaker 3: We at the level now where you just say, if
- 11:59Speaker 3: you're like a singer and this is what you do,
- 12:01Speaker 3: you just don't give a crap.
- 12:03Speaker 4: Oh look, I mean I my girls like that bunny.
- 12:09Speaker 5: I have to admit he's not on my playlist, but
- 12:14Speaker 5: I have a fifteen and seventeen year old daughter and
- 12:17Speaker 5: they listened to him some. Most of the halftime shows
- 12:21Speaker 5: don't do much for me. I mean, it's it's They're fine.
- 12:24Speaker 5: They're typically typically like pop singers, and and you know,
- 12:28Speaker 5: I tend to listen to more more country music or
- 12:31Speaker 5: classic rock anyway, So look, it was we've already talked
- 12:38Speaker 5: more in the last four minutes about it that I've
- 12:40Speaker 5: probably thought about the whole thing.
- 12:42Speaker 3: I love and I love it. By the way, did
- 12:44Speaker 3: you see that Turning Point A had like five million
- 12:46Speaker 3: live watching on YouTube?
- 12:49Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 12:49Speaker 5: And look, Kid Rock, you know, I mean Kid Rock
- 12:51Speaker 5: testified before the Senate this past week, and so I
- 12:55Speaker 5: got to visit with Kid Rock.
- 12:57Speaker 4: He came by my office. He was a nice guy.
- 12:59Speaker 5: I liked him, but to be honest, I was on
- 13:03Speaker 5: a plane for Kid Rocks too, So I didn't watch
- 13:05Speaker 5: either one of them. By the way, I was glad
- 13:08Speaker 5: at least, you know, the early promos said Bad Buy
- 13:10Speaker 5: Bunny was gonna wear a dress. He didn't wear a
- 13:13Speaker 5: dress at least not that I saw, so, so I
- 13:15Speaker 5: was glad of that at least that, you know, small victory.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, he leaves that in like you know, the burning
- 13:20Speaker 3: of flags other places. Right, Yeah, you're not doing the
- 13:22Speaker 3: super Bowl, you know.
- 13:24Speaker 5: I'm just saying, I am curious, though, how much Bad
- 13:29Speaker 5: Bunny is going to be taxed for having gone to
- 13:32Speaker 5: the Super Bowl.
- 13:33Speaker 3: So, by the way, this is the story that I
- 13:36Speaker 3: think everyone should be outraged over, right if if if
- 13:41Speaker 3: bad Bunny didn't get you going. Here is the story,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and we've got the tax hours. If you want to
- 13:46Speaker 3: know why California is fading fast and why so many
- 13:51Speaker 3: people that when they start making money are out of there,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and so many people in the in the crypto world
- 13:56Speaker 3: and the IT world and all the other world are
- 13:58Speaker 3: like they're getting out of there, like they're leaving fast
- 14:02Speaker 3: as they can. Let's just break down. We've got some
- 14:05Speaker 3: data for people of how much money California made off
- 14:09Speaker 3: the Super Bowl, of those that were actually making money
- 14:12Speaker 3: at the Super Bowl. It really is incredible data.
- 14:15Speaker 4: Well it is.
- 14:18Speaker 5: If you look at Sam Darnold going into the game,
- 14:21Speaker 5: here's what his incentives were.
- 14:24Speaker 4: If he wins.
- 14:26Speaker 5: Yeah, he's going to receive one hundred and seventy eight
- 14:28Speaker 5: thousand dollars as a bonus yep, and he will pay
- 14:32Speaker 5: two hundred and forty nine thousand in taxes to California
- 14:35Speaker 5: for his time here, meaning he will lose seventy one
- 14:39Speaker 5: thousand dollars. Yeah, that's what ended up happening. If he
- 14:44Speaker 5: had lost, then he would have gotten one hundred and
- 14:48Speaker 5: three thousand dollars in bonus, but he would still owe
- 14:52Speaker 5: two hundred and thirty five thousand in taxes, meaning he
- 14:55Speaker 5: would have lost one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars.
- 14:58Speaker 5: So I guess, Sam, congratulations, Yeah, you only lost seventy
- 15:02Speaker 5: one thousand dollars for stepping foot in the Commonwealth of California. Uh,
- 15:07Speaker 5: instead of losing one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars.
- 15:10Speaker 5: And what kind of insanity is it that that's how
- 15:14Speaker 5: the California tax system is.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it is, and it's and I mean this is
- 15:18Speaker 3: you you fly in there and you just do a
- 15:19Speaker 3: day's work and you're a performer. They are going to
- 15:22Speaker 3: take as much money as they can and they don't care.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Like there now there's there's there was inching articles reading
- 15:27Speaker 3: online about it.
- 15:28Speaker 5: Look, look, I think but I think bad Bunny changed
- 15:30Speaker 5: his name. He's now sad Bunny because sad as California
- 15:33Speaker 5: took all his money.
- 15:34Speaker 3: See that. You're not wrong on that one. But they
- 15:37Speaker 3: were talking about bands and and.
- 15:39Speaker 5: You know, you know, if you if you let California
- 15:42Speaker 5: keep going, he may soon be like fatal attraction, bunny.
- 15:45Speaker 5: I mean, and there's a whole like like.
- 15:47Speaker 3: A rabbit, there's a whole rabbit hole you can go
- 15:49Speaker 3: down on. This one is out right now. Oh yeah, all.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Right, I went there than you you at worst.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Okay, You're welcome, You're welcome. I'm here all night, folks.
- 15:57Speaker 3: No comedians, though, are avoiding California for the tax reasons
- 16:01Speaker 3: you just said that. I mean, it's it's real. Why
- 16:04Speaker 3: would you spend the night there if you know you're
- 16:07Speaker 3: not gonna make near as much money and you can
- 16:09Speaker 3: choose to go somewhere else, like go to Nevada, go
- 16:12Speaker 3: to New Mexico. I mean, there's a lot of other
- 16:13Speaker 3: places you can go to perform. And there's a lot
- 16:16Speaker 3: of people that are now sitting they're actually avoiding it
- 16:18Speaker 3: for the reasons you just described with those bonuses and taxes.
- 16:21Speaker 5: So, California has the highest marginal income tax of any state.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Its top marginal rate is thirteen point three percent on
- 16:28Speaker 5: wage income and on capital gains that exceed one million
- 16:31Speaker 5: dollars a year. The top rate for waging crome come
- 16:36Speaker 5: climbs to fourteen point six percent when you include the
- 16:40Speaker 5: state disability insurance rate which has no wage cap, and
- 16:44Speaker 5: that's on top of federal taxes. So federal taxes at
- 16:47Speaker 5: the top of the tax bracket, you're paying thirty seven
- 16:50Speaker 5: percent plus fourteen point six percent. So the reason Darnald
- 16:56Speaker 5: owes that money is because he is tallied with eight
- 17:01Speaker 5: duty days. In California, while they were get they're getting
- 17:04Speaker 5: ready for the super Bowl, he got popped with it.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Welcome to California. Congratulations on the super Bowl.
- 17:09Speaker 5: And by the way, when you play the super Bowl
- 17:11Speaker 5: in Texas, we don't text you a penny and you
- 17:13Speaker 5: get great text Max.
