Latest / Life For Toledo / Christ's Victory Hebrews 2:14
Transcript
- 0:00I'm thinking today of Hebrews 2 .14. It is a
- 0:03verse that describes a great victory that belongs
- 0:07to the church and to God's people as the church.
- 0:09It says this, It says a couple of things. First
- 0:25of all, it says that the children share in flesh
- 0:27and blood. That is to say, we are all pretty
- 0:29much the same. It doesn't matter about skin color,
- 0:32cultural, your social situation, your financial
- 0:34situation, your health situation, etc. We all
- 0:37share in flesh and blood and the struggles thereof.
- 0:40Because that's true, Jesus took on flesh himself.
- 0:45And he did that so that his body could then die.
- 0:50And in conquering death, he could render powerless
- 0:53him who had the power of death, that is, the
- 0:57devil. The bottom line is, Jesus stole the very
- 1:00sword right out of his hand. Everyone everywhere,
- 1:04at some point in time, thinks about death, fears
- 1:07death, worries about the outcome of events. In
- 1:10fact, losing a job sometimes feels like death.
- 1:12Losing a relationship sometimes feels like death.
- 1:14Someone saying something mean or hurtful to you
- 1:15sometimes feels like death. But only death is
- 1:18death, and it was in the hand of the devil. And
- 1:21Jesus came and lived the life of a man and stole
- 1:24that weapon right out of his hand. He has disarmed
- 1:28our greatest enemy. Let us now live for Christ
- 1:31and live brightly and live eternally. God bless
- 1:35you today.
